you a short poem that I've used for my own meditation,
but I always use for a funeral mass. It goes

to hope, to dream, and oh to lose a thing
for fools, this love. But a holy thing to love

what death may touch. I suppose as all of us,
I'm sure all of us who are celebrating this mass
together here or through television, we feel today within ourselves
which beautiful memories of those who have gone before us

and who we hold sacred within us. The tenderness of
our memories that impel us maybe to hope and to live.
I find this feast very comforting. Like yesterday was all

saints and that's good, you know, but it's like that's
a big expectation to try to live up to.

But all souls, I don't know.

It's somewhat consoling, I think, because it means that, however
imperfect any one.

Of us are, there's hope for eternal life.

That getting eternal life doesn't require a special sort of sanctity.
It that we do the best we can and God
is able.

I've told you a million stories over the last repeated
them probably tons of times about Calvary and death. But
I I just love you know, so often when people
are right before death, I mean, it's they holding their
hands up and it's like the communion of their families

and saints, their mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters,
people that they've known all their lives who have gone
before them, ment.

It's people say, oh, maybe it's the brain waves or
whatever it is. I don't think so. I think our
faith tells us that that's the communion of saints. It's
the communion of souls who come to tell us not
to be afraid and to welcome us. So maybe today,
in remembering the we've gone before us, grieving their loss,

loving what death can touch, and yet at the same
time holding them in tenderness, that.

who have gone before us.
