Speaker 6 (02:12):
Jesus, welcome everyone to our celebration of the Sunday Mass

(02:35):
a ministry of the Passionate Community. It is December twenty one,
the fourth Sunday of Advent. Our mass today is a
sponsored Mass and the sponsors of our Mass are the
Fisher and Kohler families, and their special intentions are the

(02:56):
memory of James Fisher Junior and Maureen Urk. So I'd
ask you to keep them all in your prayers. If
you have a prayer guide, take it out. Turn to
the beginning of Mass, and let us now begin our
celebration in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Amen.

Speaker 6 (03:16):
The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the Love of God,
the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
You and with your spirit.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
And as we come together today once again to be
nourished by the Word of God and gift of Eucharist,
let us first pause and prepare our hearts for the
coming of Christ at this moment in our life by
asking forgiveness. Lord, Have mercy, Lord Christ, have mercy. Christ, Lord,

(03:47):
have mercy.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Lord, have mercy.

Speaker 6 (03:49):
May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our
sins and bring us all to the gift of everlasting life.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
Amen, And let us pray.

Speaker 6 (04:01):
Pour Forth, we beseech you, o Lord, your grace into
our hearts, that we to whom the incarnation of Christ,
your son was made known by the message of an angel.
May by his passion and cross be brought to the
glory of His resurrection, who lives and reigns with you,
and unity of the Holy Spirit God forever and ever.

Speaker 7 (04:25):
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah, the
Lord spoke to Ahaz saying, ask for a sign from
the Lord your God. Let it be deep as another
world or high as the sky. But a has answered,
I will not ask. I will not tempt the Lord.

(04:46):
Then Isaiah said, listen, O House of David. Is it
not enough for you to weary people? Must you also
weary my God? Therefore the Lord himself will give you
this sign. The Virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and shall name him Emmanuel, the Word of the Lord.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
Thanks be to God.

Speaker 8 (05:23):
Love for Lord and Time. He is key of glory,
Love the Lord and Time.

Speaker 9 (05:42):
The Lord is the earth and it's fullness, the world
and thought who dwelling it? It is Hey who said
it on the seas, on the rivers. He made it fine. Lord,
Lord Godes.

Speaker 8 (06:06):
Lord.

Speaker 7 (06:11):
A reading from the beginning of the letter of Saint
Paul to the Romans. Paul a slave of Christ. Jesus
called to be an apostle and set apart for the
Gospel of God, which he promised previously through his prophets
in the Holy Scriptures. The gospel about his son descended

(06:31):
from David according to the flesh, but established as son
of God in power according to the Spirit of Holiness,
threw resurrection from the dead. Jesus Christ, our Lord. Through
him we have received the grace of apostleship to bring
about the obedience of faith for the sake of his

(06:53):
name among all the gentiles, among whom are you also
who are called to belong belong to Jesus Christ, to
all the beloved of God and Rome called to be
holy grace to you and peace from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ, the word of the Lord.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
Thanks me to God.

Speaker 10 (07:22):
Allelo Hollo, Holloh, the Lord be with you.

Speaker 6 (07:49):
A reading from the Holy Gospel. According to Matthew, this
is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When
his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they
lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.
Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet

(08:13):
unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly.
Such was his intention when behold, an angel of the
Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph,
son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary,
your wife into your home, for it is through the

(08:34):
Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
She will bear a son, and you will name him.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had
said through the prophet. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and
bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which
means God is with us. When Joseph woke, he did

(09:07):
as the Angel of the Lord had commanded him, and
took his wife into his home.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
The Gospel of the Lord Lord Jesus Chime.

Speaker 6 (09:28):
Some of the members of our music ministry were wondering
what color I was going to tell you that I
was wearing today, But after all the comments from last
week's description, I have decided that I should keep my
mouth shut about colors. On May one, twenty thirteen, Pope

(09:53):
Francis issued his first liturgical directive, and the directive was
to place the name of Saint Joseph in the second, third,
and fourth Eucharistic prayer. In the Roman missile, Saint Joseph's
name already appeared in the first eucharistic prayer thanks to

(10:15):
Pope John the twenty third. So now whenever a priest
prays one of the four main eucharistic prayers, after we
honor Mary, then we honor Joseph.

Speaker 5 (10:29):
Her spouse.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
And I think our gospel today gives us a little
hint as to why Pope Francis did this. We meet
Joseph as that sort of humble, gentle, compassionate man who
encounters something profound, you know, taking an already pregnant woman

(10:54):
into your home sort of put Joseph into a very
difficult city situation. His culture, his society, even his religion
sort of did not look upon something like this happening.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
In a very favorable way.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
Joseph himself was wondering what to do, and rather than
publicly humiligate Mary, he decided to divorce her quietly. But
then he has a dream and he becomes he comes
to understand what is taking place, what is happening, what
is God asking of him? And in his humbleness, in

(11:37):
his gentleness, in his caring, he takes Mary into her home,
which has changed.

Speaker 5 (11:44):
Life for all of us.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
And so we honor today a very caring man. And
in our day and age, sometimes being a caring man
is not looked upon in.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
A very positive way. We have to be strong and
self sufficient.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
But Joseph listened to his heart, and he certainly listened
to God, and that has changed everything for all of
us and brought us to the cust of celebrating the
gift of that child, Jesus coming into the world. And
so maybe today we thank Joseph for his caring, for

(12:29):
his love, for his willingness to follow his dreams and
invite not only Mary but Jesus into his home. And
maybe that's what he's asking of us today, to be
people of faith who invite Mary, Joseph, and Jesus into

(12:51):
our home and into our hearts this day and always.
I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty, Maker of
heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I

(13:13):
believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son
of God. Born of the Father before all ages, God
from God, Light from Light, true God, from true God begotten,
not made consubstantial with the Father.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
Through him, all things.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
Were made for us and for our salvation. He came
down from heaven and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate
of the Virgin Mary, and became men.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
For our sake. He was crucified under ponscious Pilot.

Speaker 6 (13:44):
He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on
the third day.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
In accordance to the scriptures, he.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Has sended into heaven and is seated at the right
hand of the Father.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
He will come again.

Speaker 6 (13:56):
In glory to judge the living and the dead, and
his kingdom will have no When I believe in the
Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds
from the Father and the Son, who with the Father
and the Son, is adwared and glorified, who.

Speaker 5 (14:11):
Has spoken through the prophets.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
I believe in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I
confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and I
look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the
life the world to come. Amen, and with the faithfulness
of Mary and Joseph let Us forever trust in the
goodness of the Lord, by placing our prayers in God's

(14:37):
loving hands.

Speaker 7 (14:38):
Our responses. Lord, here our prayer. We pray in a
special way for Ronald Roland f Hes Junior, the intention
for this mass today. We pray to the Lord Lord.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
Here are our prayer.

Speaker 7 (14:54):
We pray in thanksgiving for the sponsors of our mass today,
the Fisher and Kohler fan families, and we pray in
memory of James Fisher Junior and Maureen O'Rourke. We pray
to the Lord Lord hear our prayer. We pray for
the intentions of our benefactors, the intentions of our Sunday

(15:15):
Mass faith community that will be placed next to the altar,
and for all who are in need of prayer during
this most holy season. We pray to the Lord Lord.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Here our prayer, God of Mary and Joseph. Faithfully, we
ask you to hear our prayers. Through Christ, our Lords.

Speaker 8 (16:01):
And ran try.

Speaker 11 (16:15):
W lassay.

Speaker 8 (16:22):
I sat to.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
Deed friends in faith.

Speaker 6 (16:54):
Pray that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God,
the Almighty Father, the Lord, accept the sacrifice in our
hands for the praise and glory of His Name.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
For our good and the good of all His Holy Church.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
May the Holy Spirit, O Lord, sanctify these gifts laid
upon your altar, just as he filled with his power
the womb of the blessed Virgin Mary. Through Christ, our
Lord the Lord, be with you. Lift up your hearts,

(17:29):
and let us give thanks to the Lord. Our God
is right and truly right and just, our duty and
our salvation always and everywhere, to give you thanks, Lord,
Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Through Jesus Christ.

Speaker 6 (17:44):
For all the oracles of the prophets foretold him, the
Virgin Mother longed for him with love beyond all telling.
John the Baptist sang of his coming and proclaimed his
presence when he came. It is by his gift that
already we rejoice at the mystery of his nativity, so

(18:05):
that He may find us watchful in prayer, exultant in praise.
And so with angels and archangels, with thrones and dominions,
with all the hosts and powers of heaven, we sing
the hymn of Your Glory, as without end we acclaim lorss.

(18:58):
You're indeed holy, O Lord, the font of all holiness.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
Make holy.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
Therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit
upon them like the do fall, so that they may
become for us the body and blood of our Lord
Jesus Christ. At the time that Jesus was betrayed and
entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and, giving thanks,

(19:23):
broke it, gave it to his disciples, saying, take this
all of you, and eat of it, for this is
my body which will be given up for you. In

(19:47):
a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice,
once again, giving thanks, He gave it to his disciples, saying,
take this all of you and drink it, for this
is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the
New and eternal Covenant, which will be poured out for

(20:07):
you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do
this in memory of me, the mystery of.

Speaker 8 (20:29):
Faith, save your world for by.

Speaker 11 (20:38):
Your cross and plasma.

Speaker 8 (20:43):
Sados.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His death and resurrection,
we offer you Lord, the bread of life and the
chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us
worthy to be in your presence.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Minister to you humbly, we pray.

Speaker 6 (21:02):
That, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we
may be gathered into.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
One by the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 6 (21:08):
Remember, Lord, your Church spread throughout the world, bring her
to the fullness of charity. Together with Leo ur Pope,
and Robert our Bishop, and all whom you call to
the ministry and service of your Church. Remember also our
sisters and brothers who have fallen asleep in the hope
of the resurrection, all who have died in your mercy,

(21:30):
welcome them into the light of your faith.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
Have mercy on us all.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
We pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with Blessed Joseph her spouse, with the blessed Apostles, and
all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
we may marrit to be co eres to eternal life,
and may praise and glorify you through your son Jesus Christ,

(21:57):
Through him and with him and in Him, Oh God,
Almighty Father, and Unity.

Speaker 12 (22:02):
Of the Holy Spirit. A glory and honor is yours
forever and ever.

Speaker 6 (22:24):
The Savior's command informed by divine teaching, we humbly pray
our Father, who are in heaven.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
Hallo it be thy name, Thy Kingdom. Come. Thy will
be done on earth.

Speaker 6 (22:38):
As it is in Heaven give us this day our
daily bread, and forgive us our trespusses, as we forgive
those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray
from every evil, graciously grand peace in our days, that

(22:59):
by the help of Your see we may be always
free from sin. Say from all distress, as we await
the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ,
now and forever. And Lord Jesus Christ, you said to
your apostles peace, I leave you my peace.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
I give you.

Speaker 6 (23:19):
Look not on our sins, but look on the faith
of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity
in accordance with Your will. Who live and reign forever
and ever. The Peace of the Lord be with you always.
Let us share that peace with one another. Lamb of God,

(23:46):
you take away the sins of the world, Have mercy
on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins
of the world, Have mercy on us. Lamb of God,
you take away the sins of the world an us peace.

(24:11):
Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who takes away
the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to
the Supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof, but only say
the word, and my soul shall be.

Speaker 13 (24:26):
Healed beyond under the moon and stars.

Speaker 5 (24:48):
So deep as not so great are.

Speaker 14 (24:58):

Speaker 15 (25:55):
Josey, So may we came to rest who.

Speaker 14 (26:13):
See, and let us pray.

Speaker 6 (26:27):
Having received this pledge of eternal redemption, we pray, Almighty God,
that as the feast day of our salvation draws ever nearer,
so we may press forward all the more eagerly to
the worthy celebration of the mystery of your Son's nativity,
who lives and reigns forever and ever. The Lord be

(26:52):

you today and always, Father and Holy Spirit. Our Mass

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
