In the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit. The Lord be with you,
sisters and brothers. As we prepare to celebrate these sacred mysteries.
Let us call to mind our sins, trusting in God's
gift of mercy and peace. Lord Jesus, you came to

(03:27):
visit your people in peace. Lord, have mercy. Lord Christ, Jesus,
you come to all who are lost. Christ, have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you have come to create a new world.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Lord, have mercy.

the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Amen.

Speaker 9 (04:22):
A reading from the book of the Prophet Isaiah. On
that day a shoot shall sprout from the stump of
Jesse and from his roots a bud shall blossom. The
spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, a spirit
of wisdom and of understanding, a spirit of counsel and

(04:43):
of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of
the Lord. And his delight shall be the fear of
the Lord. Not by appearance shall he judge, nor by
hearsay shall he decide. But he he shall judge the
poor with justice, and decide aright for the lands afflicted.

(05:07):
He shall strike the ruthless with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips he shall slay
the wicked. Justice shall be the band around his waist,
and faithfulness a belt upon his hips. Then the wolf
shall be a guest of the lamb, and the leopard

(05:29):
shall lie down with the kid. The calf and the
young lion shall browse together with a little child to
guide them. The cow and the bear shall be neighbors.
Together their young shall rest, The lion shall eat hay
like the ox. The baby shall play by the cobra's den,

(05:52):
and the child lay his hand on the adder's lair.
There shall be no harm or ruin on my all,
my holy life mountain, for the earth shall be filled
with the knowledge of the Lord.

Speaker 10 (06:04):
As water covers the sea.

Speaker 9 (06:08):
On that day the root of Jesse set up as
a signal for the nations. The gentiles shall seek out
for his dwelling shall be glorious. The word of the Lord.

Speaker 11 (06:24):
Thanks to God, justice shall flourish in his time and.

Speaker 12 (06:43):

Speaker 13 (06:51):

Speaker 14 (07:00):
Man, Oh God, give your judgment to the King, to
a king's son your justice, that he may judge your
people in justice, and you're poor in right judgment, justice.

Speaker 13 (07:26):
Time and all man.

Speaker 9 (07:29):
Sr A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to
the Romans, Brothers and sisters. Whatever was written previously was
written for our instruction, that by endurance and by the

(07:52):
encouragement of scriptures we might have hope. May the God
of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony
with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with
one accord you may, with one voice glorify the God
and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Welcome one another, then,

(08:16):
as Christ welcomed you, for the glory of God. For
I say that Christ became a minister of the circumcised
to show God's truthfulness, to confirm the promise to the patriarchs,
but so that the gentiles might glorify God for his mercy.

(08:37):
As it is written, Therefore, I will praise you among
the gentiles and sing praises to your name, the word
of the Lord.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Thanks be to God.

Speaker 14 (08:55):
All land are honed, We are honed.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
H Ho.

Speaker 12 (09:18):
Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.
All flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Speaker 8 (09:42):
The Lord be with you. A reading from the Holy Gospel.
According to Matthew, John the Baptist appeared preaching in the
desert of Judea and saying repent for the King of
Heaven is at hand. It was of him that the

(10:03):
prophet Isaiah had spoken when he said, a voice of
one crying out in the desert, prepare the way of
the Lord, make straight his paths. John wore clothing made
of camel's hair and had a leather belt around his waist.

(10:25):
His food were locusts and wild honey. At that time,
all Jerusalem, Judaea, the whole region around the Jordan were
going out to him and were being baptized by him
and the Jordan River as they acknowledged their sins When
he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to

(10:49):
his baptism, he said to them, you brood of vipers,
who warned you to flee from the coming wrath. Produce
good fruit as evidence of your repentance. And do not
presume to say to yourselves we have Abraham as our father.

(11:10):
For I tell you God can raise up children to
Abraham from these stones. Even now, the axe lies at
the root of all trees. Therefore, every tree that does
not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown
into the fire. I am baptizing with water for repentance.

(11:36):
But the one who is coming after me is mightier
than I. I am not worthy to carry his sandals.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
His winnowing fan is in his hand.

Speaker 8 (11:53):
He will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat
into his barn. The chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.
The Gospel of the Lord Jesus artist, my sisters and brothers,

(12:15):
so much for the gentle message of Isaiah and that
brand new world that he envisioned. In that first reading,
John the Baptist appears like a bolt of lightning. The
desert was probably a hard place for John at first,
but something happened to him in that desert, allowing him

(12:36):
to come out proclaiming a message of reform and repentance.
In the desert, something happens to a person in the desert.
We realize that we do have the resources and the
strength that we thought we never had before. What happens
then is that our life and our mission becomes more.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Focused on God.

Speaker 8 (13:00):
We realize what is really essential about life.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
And this is what happened to John.

Speaker 8 (13:07):
The desert provided him with the opportunity to see where
change was needed and a new direction was necessary for
God's people. The desert became the place that allowed John
to really live the message that he preached with such
great force. The desert is the place where we look

(13:29):
in the areas of our own lives that are lost.
What have we lost in our life where we need
to be found again. It's not an easy question or
even to tackle it. It's not about an instant that
we go back, turning the clock back to the past,
or changing the past. The Lord isn't asking us to

(13:50):
do that. What he's asking us is to see our
preparation and celebration of Christmas as an opportunity to refocus
our lives on the presence of God, who knows our
losses and wants to bring us back to a new
sense of hope. It's not a fairy tale or a fantasy,

(14:11):
but God really wants to bring us to that new
kingdom that Isaiah spoke of. He wants us to prepare
for the coming of the Lord, not because the way
of the Lord is something forced on us, but becomes our.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
Way of life, our way of hope.

Speaker 8 (14:30):
As we prepare our hearts once again for the coming
of Jesus, let us pray that our Eucharist today will
give us what we need to recognize how the Lord
wants to find us and give us the fullness of
His kingdom, a kingdom where we will all have a
place and truly know God's peace for the first time.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
In hope.

Speaker 8 (15:02):
We turn to the Lord, trusting in his mercy as
we place our prayers in his merciful and just hands.

Speaker 9 (15:11):
Our response is, Lord, hear our prayer. We pray in
a special way for Gilvasquez, the intention for this mass today.

Speaker 10 (15:20):
We pray to the Lord, Lord hear our prayer.

Speaker 9 (15:23):
We pray that the Holy Spirit will inspire each of
us to use our gifts to prepare the way of
the Lord by sharing the Gospel of life and peace.

Speaker 10 (15:34):
We pray to the Lord Lord. Here we pray for.

Speaker 9 (15:38):
The intentions of our benefactors, the intentions of our Sunday
Mass faith community that will be placed next to the altar,
and for all who are in need of prayer during.

Speaker 10 (15:48):
This most holy season. We pray to the Lord Lord.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
Here our prayer.

Speaker 8 (15:54):
Lord God, comfort us, and in your tenderness respond to
the prayers and that we have placed before you today
through Christ, our Lord.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Amen.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
In the world, when in the water, children.

Speaker 15 (16:22):
In the Lord, God's going to trouble the world.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
See that almost all dressed in wid God's gonna trouble
the Lord.

Speaker 15 (16:36):
The lead longsmy island.

Speaker 5 (16:40):
God's going to trouble the word in the world. Where
in the world, children.

Speaker 13 (16:53):
In the Lord, God's going to trouble all the world.

Speaker 8 (17:02):
Go pray, sisters and brothers, that my sacrifice and yours
will be acceptable to God, the Almighty and Merciful Father.

Speaker 15 (17:24):
Sacrifice your hands for the praise.

Speaker 12 (17:27):
And glorious.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
Church.

Speaker 8 (17:31):
Be pleased, O Lord, with our humble prayers and offerings.
And since we have no merits to plead our cause,
come we pray to our rescue with the protection of
your mercy.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Through Christ, our.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
Lord, the Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts.
Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God. It
is truly right and just our duty and our salvation
always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father,

(18:07):
Almighty and Eternal God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. For
he assumed that his first coming the lowliness of human flesh,
and so fulfilled the design you formed long ago, and
open for us the way to eternal salvation. That when
He comes again in glory and majesty and all is

(18:31):
at last made manifest, we who watch for that day
may inherit the great promise in which now we dare
to hope. And so, with all the angels and archangels,
with thrones and dominions, with all the hosts and powers
of heaven, we sing the hymn of Your Glory, For

(18:53):
as without.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
End we acclaim.

Speaker 13 (19:03):
Lords e.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
Comes.

Speaker 8 (19:28):
Lord, You are holy, indeed the font of all holiness.
Make holy. Therefore these gifts we pray by sending down
your spirit upon them like the d fall, so that
they may become for us the body and blood of
our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed

(19:50):
and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and
giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,
take this all of you, and eat of it, for
this is my body which will be.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Given up for you.

Speaker 8 (20:18):
In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took
the chalice, and, once more, giving thanks, he gave it
to his disciples, saying, take this all of you, and
drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood,
the blood of the New and eternal Covenant, which will
be poured out for you and for many for the

(20:41):
forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me, A
mister real faith.

Speaker 13 (21:05):
Save us, save lo word for your ross and sends
us free.

Speaker 8 (21:21):
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His death and resurrection,
we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the
chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us
worthy to be here in your presence and minister to
you humbly. We pray that, partaking of the body and

(21:41):
blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by
the Holy Spirit. Lord remember your Church spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of charity. Together with
Leo our Pope, Robert our Bishop, and all the clergy
and people of God. Remember our sisters and brothers who

(22:03):
have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and
all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into
the light of your face.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Have mercy on us all. We pray that with Mary the.

Speaker 8 (22:18):
Most Blessed Virgin Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph her spouse,
with the blessed Apostles, the glorious Martyrs, with Saint John
the Baptist, and all the saints who have pleased you
throughout the ages, we may merit to be co heirs
to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through

(22:41):
your Son Jesus Christ, through.

Speaker 3 (22:48):

Speaker 8 (22:51):
Him, Oh God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the
Holy Spirit. It All glory and honor is.

Speaker 16 (23:03):
Yours forever and at.

Speaker 8 (23:22):
The Saviour's command and form. By divine teaching, we dare
to say, our Father, who are in heaven, how it
would be thy name, Thy Kingdom. Come, Thy will be
done on earth as it is in Heaven, give us
this date our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,

(23:44):
as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Speaker 5 (23:53):
Deliver us.

Speaker 8 (23:54):
Lord, we pray from every evil, and graciously grant peace
in our days, that by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin and safe from
all distress and anxiety, as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Jesus Christ.

Speaker 8 (24:17):
Lord, Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles peace, I
leave you my peace.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
I give you.

Speaker 8 (24:26):
Lord, look not on our sins, but look on the
faith of your people, the Church, and graciously grant her
peace and unity in accordance with your will. Where you
live and reign forever and ever, the peace of the Lord.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Be with you always.

Speaker 8 (24:45):
Let us offer each other a sign of the Lord's peace.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
