hit you so deeply that you just had to share it,
but then you hesitated? If so, I want to introduce
you to Liz Okay, because she went from private study

(01:38):
to powerful revelation when God challenged her follow me here. Okay,
because God spoke to her directly, and he said to her,
what good is this just sitting on your computer? Well,
now she's unpacking Paul's Letter to the Philippians. Not just no,

(02:00):
I'm not an ancient text, but as a survival guide

and unshakable faith. So listen to me when I tell you,

strap in, man, Like I said, this is about to
be a wonderful education. Let's dive in. Liz first and
foremost welcome to people of distinction, and thank you very

(02:45):
much for being a guest. How are you doing today?

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Being fine? Thank you for having.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Me absolutely listen. It's a pleasure to have you here.
I think there is so much not only wisdom, of course,
to be found in the book, but there is a
lot of intrigue right just with that hook of God
speaking directly to you in imposing that challenge. I love that,
and I think that is really where I want to begin.

(03:10):
Because you mentioned that God asked you, right, what good
is this study going to do? Just sitting on your computer?
How did that moment change your perspective on sharing personal
Bible studies?

Speaker 2 (03:25):
It scared me. I'm not very My english and literature
was a struggle in school, so I did not believe
that anybody would be interested in reading my work. But
you know what, when God is in it, he changes
it so that others will hear and know what He's saying.

(03:49):
And I believe that's what God did it. I no
longer longer did I just write it, because I just
write down notes as I study, and then I go
to my computer and compose it like I'm going to teach.
Because I've taught for so many years, like I'm going
to teach it, but I usually stept for me, I

(04:10):
don't edit it. This time, I edited and prayed and
ask God for his leadership, because at first I didn't
know what he really wanted me to do with it
because I was no longer teaching Sunday school. I was
no longer in that position, so I'm like, Lord, what
are you going to want me to do? And he
did guide me into publish units, which when I first

(04:34):
sent it for publishing, I was expecting the negative, say no,
we can't publish this, but the first try it came
back very excited to publish it, and not only publish it,
but to put it digital as well. Yeah, so then
I knew that it was God.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Liz, listen you. First of all, thank you very much
for that. But you said something very interesting, And I
think this gets to the heart of so much because
you're talking about this biblical study, which yeah, powerful in
its own sense, but let's get down to it, right,
and let's get to brass tax here Philippians was written

(05:14):
nearly two thousand years ago, yet you say it is
extremely relevant to today. Okay, now I'm intrigued. And I
want to hear it from you. What modern struggles do
you think Paul would address if he wrote this letter
to the church in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I think he would address the sleeping at the way
of that is going forward. He would dress where we're
not where we should be, that we should walk in
the light. In fact, I'm not sure if he would
do the same thing, because everything in that book spoke
to me volumes. It was like I was asking myself,

(05:58):
what am I doing? Where am I here at? Am
I doing what Paul is saying that we should do?
Am I rejoicing in times of struggles? Am I walking
the way I should walk in Christ? Am I taking
the knowledge that I know of Christ putting it into

(06:19):
my personal experience day by day walking? Am I growing
the way I should in christis? And I believe that
he would just about do the same thing.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Let's dive further here into your book because I know,
specifically chapter two in your book it emphasizes unity and
humility and listen. In today's divided world, whoo, that seems
like something that is in short supply. I'm curious to
know what's one practical way believers can live out this call.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
I believe that if we unite, if we truly love
each other, if we truly submit ourself to one another,
as Paul says, and put others first in our get
out of our selfish moves and put others first, I
believe that we can unite together and do a great

(07:18):
work for Christ. I believe we need to unite together,
arm in arms, saying you know what, no matter because
I am with you, brother, I am with you, sister,
I will walk with you. I will be by your
side in Christ to help us along the way. And

(07:38):
I believe that we need to unite not only in
our church, our own community church, but throughout the whole nation,
without the whole world. We should unite with one another,
building each other up in the Lord instead of tearing
each other down, because it seems like we want to

(08:00):
tear each other down these days, instead of lifting one
another up. And just because we don't agree with it
does not mean that we're right, are they're wrong? Are
their right? And we're wrong. But we need to lift
one another up and pray for one another and just
encourage one another.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Love that people listen, listen to the words that she
is saying. Man Listen, there's so much division in the
world right now in our country, Yet we all make
blanket statements here. Yet many of us look at Christianity
and the following that it has. It's not just one
or two people that are following Christianity. Okay, So if

(08:40):
there are so many followers, if there are so many believers,
wouldn't that mean that those that do follow and do believe,
aren't we then all children of Christ? Aren't we all
brothers and sisters in God's eyes? So wouldn't that mean
that we would want to look out and care for
one another. We have to go back to that. That

(09:02):
is something that is absolutely it's just absent during today's time.
You look at what's happening around the country. I don't
need to go into detail, you know what I'm talking
about That to me, is not reflective of what is
being discussed in the Bible. This journey, and I say
that specifically because this is not I pick up the

(09:25):
book and all of a sudden, I'm a changed human
being and my work is done. Now there's a journey
to be had, but it starts with this magnificent book,
Book of Philippians. It's Amazon, It's Barnes and Noble. Pick
up your copies today and embark upon it. Allow this
book to be the catalyst for change in your life.
That it truly is. This is something special here as

(09:49):
we transition now, Liz, I'm curious to know, while you
were developing this, even before God spoke to you to
put it out as a book for others, were there
any surprising discoveries that you had while studying Philippians that
you didn't even expect.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Yes. Look, God spoke to me and challenged me in
several areas my thought life. I have trouble with my
thought life. I go when I hear something, I think
of the worst. It just that's where I go. And
God spoke to me about my thought life and how
I need to give it to him so that he

(10:31):
can help me think about the good things. That's honest things,
things that are pure, things that will not bring me down,
but to lift me up, lift others up. And so
that that was one of the areas that God spoke
to me. Rejoice was another one. Paul said it so

(10:54):
many times to rejoice, and again I say rejoice. Rejoicing
is not just happy and skipping around like nothing's gone
but it is that deep knowing that God is in
control and you don't have to worry about things. You
can have the peace of God that just understands everything

(11:16):
and knows that He is in control. He will never
let anything happen to you that He will not allow.
He will get us through things. I just I have
to say that that piece of God is just a
great aspect when we understand that no matter what we say,

(11:40):
no matter what the struggles are. When I was going
through this book, I was my husband had just passed away.
It was less than a year when I was going
through this, and I was struggling because I thought that
God was done with me as well, because for years
I was teacher, I was doing something in the church.

(12:02):
I was very busy in the church. And then all
of a sudden, because of my husband's health, we retired
and I was doing absolutely nothing in the church, and
there was a boy there and God just helped me
to realize that it's not about the things that we do,

(12:25):
but it's what we accomplished with him. He will guide
us to what He needs us to do. He will.
We may not think we're doing anything, but yet we
are because it's Him. Buys our footsteps. And it was
just an encouragement to me to know that God directs

(12:47):
and guides us. And as long as I take the knowledge,
as I study the word of God, take that knowledge
and put it into my everyday lifestyle, God will direct
me where he wants me to go. And He's never
finished with us until she takes us on to Heaven.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
You know what a fantastic piece that you just said
to us, And it really connects beautifully. When we're talking
about Paul, we're talking about Philippians, we're talking about your
particular journey. Listen, Paul talks about pressing on toward the goal. Right,
So this message is already there in Philippians and it's
a perfect segue because I want to now pass it

(13:28):
back towards you. How has this study helped you keep
pressing forward in your faith?

Speaker 2 (13:37):
It takes me in the words, It enlightened me to
who God really is. I went through a deeper walk
with the Lord that I just I can't really describe,
but it's I know that everything in this book I

(13:57):
can have in my life by just keep pressing on.
And you know what, we're not part of this world.
We're just passing through our goal. We need to keep
our goal. Me personally, I have to keep my eyes
on Heaven on Christ if I'm going to reach the

(14:18):
goal that God has for us.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
The people upset. Listen, man, I could sit here and
I could talk to Liz for hours. There is so
much to be dissected here. There is a lot of
information to be found. You all know what you gotta do.
I'm not gonna continue to belabor it because the journey
starts now. It's Amazon, it's Barnes and Noble. It's called

(14:42):
Book of Philippians. Head on over there, pick up your
copies and start that journey today. Because listen, if Paul's
letter to the Philippians was a battle cry for joy
in the chaos, then Liz just handed us the playbook. Okay,
this isn't just ancient wisdom, man, it really is. It's

(15:05):
fuel for the faith grind we are all in. Do
me a favorite, mane, Listen, go and read Philippians again,
but this time read it, man, Read it like your
life depends on it, because honestly, it just might. All right,
this is a phenomenal educational journey that you're gonna want

(15:27):
to take. And we just have to give a huge
thanks to Liz for comprising it, a huge thanks to
the man upstairs for pushing her on the journey to
publish it or release it to the world, and then
back to a huge thanks for Liz again for being
a guest with us today.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Thank you so much.
