People.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Let's be real, man, like, we all have a version
of Jesus in our heads, right, there's a lot of
different images, a lot of different symbols that represent him.
But what if everything we thought we knew was just
the tip of the iceberg? Okay, Now that's a powerful question,
and it's one that's gonna get us started on our journey.
(01:58):
Doctor Finian is here an amazing book that isn't about religion.
It's about reality. It's about an answer that might just
redefine everything for you. And in a world that's constantly
asking us to define ourselves by our jobs, by our politics,
(02:18):
by our Instagram bios, what if the most important question
wasn't about you at all, but actually about someone else. Man,
I'm looking forward to this discussion. Sit back, extrap Then
here we go, Doctor Finian, Welcome to the network. Man,
thank you for being a guest. How you doing today, sir.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Thank you for having me.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
I appreciate it absolutely. Listen, we're looking forward to this discussion,
doctor Finnan. You have so much to offer man, a
lot of wisdom, a lot of education, and we're going
to be reaping the rewards of all of it. Let's
start off at that foundation before we jump into the
book and the concepts discussed. Tell us more about yourself
and your background.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
My background to do it, the way I was raised,
and the journey of life I've experienced. I was raised
in what I would call a very deep religious and
cultural family. My dad was a parlier school teacher. He
(03:22):
rose up to be the head of the school, and
my mom was very much involved in assisting my dad
in the day to door face of the home. And
they taught us to believe in God, and they taught
us to be kind and gracious to our neighbors. They
(03:43):
taught us to give as much as we can. Who
were raised with some kind of humility, but the centrality
was the fear of God in her heart. I rose
up from that family, got more exposed, went through colleges,
or universities. And that was for the exposed to traveling
(04:07):
almost across various continents in the world. And I became
a trained and a professional mechanican engineer, then worked in
Africa and also worked in Europe, and then came here
to the States, by the grace of God, to study
(04:29):
more consigning ministry. I was also exposed, by the grace
of God under the very feet of the ward and
now evangelist Billy Graham were invited with then Amongs, with
other amazing leaders so Asterdam that was the Netherlands some
(04:50):
years ago. I can tell you this, It has been
a journey of life with the grace of God leading all.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Right, listen, doctor Finneys, the way your book is entitled, right,
who is this Jesus Christ? I think it's a great
question to be just hit in the face with right
off the bat. But I'm curious, man, how does answering
this question of who is Jesus in a way fundamentally
reshape our own answer to the question of who am I?
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Every life? We have every life. When I say every
life at me, it cut across bardas it caught across
racist nations. He cut across urious aspects of living, whether
(05:44):
you are leaving vehicle small, whether you are known or known,
whether you are despised or discriminated. Minutes, Well, every one
of us God as it is a vacuum. That is
something that will call the vacuum in the heart. And
our vacuum is longing for the truth. It's longing for
(06:07):
the direction, It's longing for life to free me. It
were just created like robots. There is something in us
that is constantly yearning. Who am I? Where am I going?
Who do I belong to? Im'm not going to end?
(06:31):
What is it? From here? And it was this curiosity
and body as I travel, as I meet people, as
I hear questions, as I see the emptiness and the
shallowness of their life, including pretenses, does pretend? I felt
within me and I said, Lord, what would you want
(06:54):
me to address here? And this question came up? Do
they even know who Jesus is? Do they mean? And
I struggle with it. Yeah, we have churches that have crosses,
Well may and we may given children that we are crosses.
Some are tattoos of crosses, and yes, can it looks
(07:19):
like main decorations, but it will will be true Me
and the depth of who Jesus is.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
This is how the book came about, Doctor finnel As.
I'm interpreting what you're saying, and I'm making the connection
to who we are, who Jesus Christ is, and how listen,
he is within us, but vice versa, we are also
within him. Like it truly is like the notion of
(07:47):
we are created in the image of God, in all forms,
in all assets. And I think it's really interesting when
we connect it back to your book. From a generic perspective,
we often picture Jesus as serene, as stoic, but your
book delves into a man who wept, who got angry,
(08:10):
who felt exhaustion, who experienced anguish. Those are very humanistic traits. Right,
It's not something that at least for me, not to
speak for the world, but at least for me, that's
not something that instantly comes to mind when I think
of this omnipresent force, when I think of this guiding
father of ours, Jesus Christ. So what does it mean
(08:35):
for our own struggles with mental and emotional health that
the God we follow fully entered into that human experience.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
You got to, right, that is the issue or the
complicity with something is also paradossical, and he says that
we see Jesus Christ as they did that and also
completely abstract out there. And then we don't have that connection.
(09:12):
We don't have that connection. We tend to lose the
sight of is he here with me? Is it present
with me? Can you speak to me? Is it really alive?
Or it's just history like we have historical evidence. Oh,
(09:35):
and then we put things like BC before Jesus, who
puts something like a D after Jesus. The point here
is there is no connection. Who is Jesus help you?
But behome? Which it brings by connection. It brings by
(09:55):
connection the do well within us. It's a personality within us.
But that can only be actualized if we applya feet.
That is why this book they can't get a cusho
not will be just for us. We believe in Christ.
(10:17):
Oh God, it's for everybody.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
These books for everybody, doctor Finnian, for people out there
listening in for somebody that's still on the fence and listen.
Let's be honest, man, Let's be blunt, like, why should
a busy, stressed out person And God knows, man, we
are stressed out right now. The twenty first century is
throwing a lot on our plate. If this is assimilation,
(10:41):
then we got it on hard mode right now. But
why should a busy, stressed out person in the twenty
first century care about the nature of a first century carpenter?
Speaker 3 (10:55):
You read a very good question, very good question. No,
I'll expect you for your question. Thank you, couse. But
I will tell you this. Our God is forever the
same Jesus simp says said it and the same yesterday
(11:16):
today are forever more is the same. The message of
Jesus remain the same all the time. We can twist it,
we can manipulate, we can play games, we can use
what they call organized religion. Does our marmaid and they
(11:38):
will go nowhere to my seat for a time.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Or for a season. If you drop off, that is
zeple it don't want to work for Here is the
catch and is the truth. When you read my book
and then you walk through the chapters and they are interconnected,
and then you look at the main Segus it has
(12:01):
more than one hundred names are put together, and you
can say that each of those names they are what
I would call connection to reality. If Jesus says is
the light of the world and he said it. If
he says he's the brain of life and he said it,
(12:25):
if he says is the comforter, is the Almighty God,
is the Prince of Peace, is the Everlasting Father. Each
of these they are very significant to our present day living.
If you're not applied with the stressful where it changes
(12:46):
with all kinds of oppeavers and confusions are going in
the world. And then you anchor on Christ and his name,
you will survive. You will it anyway in the world.
So Jesus Christ and his name and his power and
his glory is relevant. It's not tied up the fourth century,
(13:10):
second century, thirtieth century. It will take you a century
nal it. As long as he lives, and he lives forever.
The efficacy of his world and the effication of what
he has said is will always come to pass.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
There's comfort in knowing his name and knowing the power
he presents and also the power he possesses. And it's
a life forever. That is the ancle of our state,
and that is what we belong as people of God.
But I want to add this as we close. You know,
(13:50):
the book is not just so before believers in Christ
It is for every believer, everyone as is seeking for
know le looking, who am I? Whether you belong to
other feads, There's much you can get from the name
of Jesus. And for who is so I recommodity for everybody, everybody,
(14:17):
school children, anyone who is seeking for the truth, community,
for the truth before it gets too late. That is
the essence of this book. Who is this Jesus Christ?
The power of the Cross is the one and the
only one that declared truth and the life. And I'm
(14:41):
the way, and no one can come up to the
father exaid by him. That is the fundamental truth is
laid for us and is coming to pass in the
lives of those who believe in him. We who want
to check out, he will put himself.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
To death, Doctor Viennian' right there with you, man.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
People.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Like so many other things in life, this is a journey,
and the question who is this Jesus Christ? Is not
meant to be answered once right. It's meant to be revisited.
It's meant to be re examined, re explored for a lifetime. Listen,
I'm gonna say it again. It's Amazon, It's Barnes and Noble,
it's Jcharvesters dot com. In addition to Who Is This
(15:25):
Jesus Christ, there's ten other books that you're gonna want
to get your hands on. Head on over there, pick
it up today. Remember, the goal isn't to know about him,
is to truly know him, and the only way you
do that is by getting the conversation started right. A
podcast episode can introduce you to the question, but a
(15:48):
real relationship requires your own pursuit. It's your move. Let
this book be your starting point. Pick up your copies
today and get the conversation going. Doctor Finnian, A huge
thanks to you man. Thank you for writing the book.
Most importantly, thank you for being here with us to
discuss it all through People of Distinction.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
It's a permanent thank you for having me. Thank you, sir,
