Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello everyone, and welcome to another episode of our podcast, Plants, Flowers,
Oils and Whimsy. I'm your host, Carrie Sharf, and today
we're slowing things down and tuning in not to a
new trend or product, but to you, more specifically, your skin.
In this episode, we'll discuss the different ways to tune
into what your skin is telling you and how to
adjust your skincare routine accordingly as we move into spring.

(00:29):
Spring is a season of renewal. Just like the plants
outside shift with the weather, your skin is responding to
changes too, in temperature, in humidity, in stress levels, hormones,
even your diet, and sometimes your routine needs to shift
right along with it. Let's start with this simple truth.
Your skin is always talking to you. Dry patches, sudden breakouts, dullness,

(00:51):
or extra sensitivity. These aren't problems to immediately fix with
more products. There are invitations to pause and observe. So
how do we Let's go over a few ways. First,
notice how your skin feels, and without judgment, take a
moment after cleansing to gently run your fingers over your face.
Is it tight, soft, oily? Rough? In certain areas? These

(01:15):
are quiet messages from your skin. Next, pay attention to
how your skin responds to products. If something that usually
works suddenly stings or causes redness, your skin might be
asking for a break. If your skin feels thirsty despite
using your regular moisturizer, it might be craving more water
based hydration, like a face mist or lightweight serum. Adjusting

(01:36):
for the season is also crucial. Spring often brings more
moisture to the air, but it can also bring allergy
flare ups or wind chapped cheeks. Maybe it's time to
swap out heavier creams for something lighter, or introduce more calming,
anti inflammatory ingredients like camomile or colendula. Sometimes the best
thing you can do is simplify. Your skin. Might not

(01:57):
need five steps right now. Maybe just to gent cleanser,
a hydrosol and a nourishing facial oil is enough. Another
useful tip is to keep a skincare journal. Noticing patterns
over time is powerful. A quick weekly check in with
your skin can help you make small changes before issues arise.
I love doing this seasonally, a little ritual of reflection
and reset. If you're unsure what changes to make, start small,

(02:23):
try swapping just one product or go makeup free for
a few days to let your skin breathe and reset.
I know that can feel vulnerable, maybe even impossible some days,
but letting your skin breathe without foundation, powder, or even
tinted moisturizers gives it a chance to reset. You might
notice how your skin reacts naturally throughout the day. You
might even catch a glimpse of your skin's real texture,

(02:44):
its real tone, and realize it's doing better than you thought.
Going makeup free, even once or twice a week, can
be a powerful part of your skin care ritual. It
allows your skin to focus on healing, restoring, and rebalancing
without having to work through that extra layer, and emotionally,
it's freeing. It's a quiet act of self trust. If

(03:06):
you still want a little something, a swipe of hydrating
balm on the lips, a mist of rose water, or
a drop of facial oil padded into the cheekbones can
give your skin that dewy, radiant finish while still keeping
things simple and fresh. Makeup is a beautiful form of
self expression, but so is showing up in your own
skin just as it is. Remember, adjusting your routine isn't

(03:28):
a failure, it's a form of respect. It's saying I
see you, i'm here. Let's take care of you together.
