Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello everyone, and welcome to another episode of our podcast, Plants, Flowers,
Oils and Whimsy. I'm thrilled to have you here with
me today. In this episode, we're diving into some wonderful
tips and tricks to help your skin recover from the
summer sun. We'll be talking about summer skin repair rituals,
the importance of gentle exfoliation, and the magic of herbal

(00:24):
infused oils. So let's get started, shall we. Summer can
be both a blessing and a curse for our skin.
On one hand, we get to enjoy the warmth and sunshine,
but on the other our skin faces a barrage of
UV rays, heat, and environmental stressors. These factors can lead
to a host of issues, including dryness, a dull skin tone, congestion,

(00:46):
and sensitivity. First off, the sun's UV rays, while giving
us that lovely tan, can be quite harmful. They can
cause dryness and lead to premature aging. But that's not all.
Pair these UV rays with heat and pollution and our
skin really high as it's hands full, we might notice
our skin looking duller or feeling more sensitive than usual.
And who hasn't dealt with congestion or breakouts? When the

(01:08):
summer heat kicks in. That's why it's so important to
support our skin's natural repair process during the summer. This
means prioritizing hydration, using products that help to reinforce the
skin's barrier, and regularly applying sunscreen. All these steps work
together to keep our skin healthy and glowing despite the
summer challenges. Coming up, we'll explore some specific rituals and

(01:31):
products that can help your skin bounce back beautifully from
the summer sun, so stay tuned. Now, let's talk about exfoliation,
a kind and gentle way to shed the old. Exfoliation
helps in removing dead skin cells, unclogging those pores, and
making sure your face is ready to absorb all the
goodness from moisturizers. Think of it like giving your skin

(01:52):
a fresh, clean slate. Some of my favorite gentle exfoliants
include sugar, oats, clay, and round herbs or flowers. They're
not just effective, but also gentle on the skin. You
could even whip up a diy face polish at home
using ground oats, honey, and milk or hydrosol. This combo
is soothing and packs the powerhouse of benefits for your skin.

(02:15):
So how often should we be exfoliating For the face,
I'd recommend gentle exfoliation about once or twice a week.
For the body, you can go up to about three
times a week, but always listen to your skin and
adjust accordingly. Sometimes less is more. Exfoliation is one of
those steps that can truly transform your skin care game
if done correctly and gently. Keep treating your skin with

(02:37):
kindness and it'll repay you with a radiant glow. Next up,
let's dive into the world of herbal infused oils and
how they can be your skin's best friend after a
long day out in the sun. These oils infused with
herbs are packed with natural goodness that can help soothe, nourish,
and repair your skin. Some of the most recommended oils
for after sun care include colengula, camomile, lavender, and plantain.

(03:02):
Colendola is renowned for its skin repairing properties, camomeal is
known for its soothing and anti inflammatory benefits, Lavender offers
calming and healing effects, and plantain is fantastic for its
ability to comfort irritated skin. To use these wonderful oils,
simply massage them into clean, damp skin right after your shower.
This helps lock in moisture and ensures that the oil

(03:24):
penetrates deeply. Alternatively, you can blend them into your favorite
body bomb or lotion for an added boost of nourishment
and care. These oils work wonders in keeping your skin hydrated,
repairing any damage from the sun, and maintaining a healthy glow.
So the next time you find yourself needing some after
sun love, reach for these herbal infused oils and let

(03:45):
nature's own remedies do the work. To wrap up our
summer skin recovery segment, I want to share a simple
and delightful weekly summer skin repair ritual that you can
easily incorporate into your self care routine. First, start with
dry brushing or a gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin
cells and boost circulation. This step preps your skin and

(04:07):
ensures it's ready to absorb all the nourishing goodness that follows.
Then hop into a warm shower or bath to cleanse
and relax your body. The warm water opens up your pores,
making your skin more receptive to treatments. Once you're out
of the shower or bath, the next step is to
massage herbal infused oil into your damp skin. Some great

(04:28):
options include colendula, camomile, lavender, and plantain. These oils are
immensely nourishing and can help repair and soothe your skin
after sun exposure. Finally, take a few moments to breathe
deeply and connect with your body. The act of caring
for your skin is also an act of self care,
allowing you to unwind and recharge. This simple ritual not

(04:50):
only helps repair and nurture your skin, but also provides
a wonderful opportunity to practice mindfulness and connect with yourself.
What could be better than taking a little time each
week to treat your skin and spirit with kindness and care.
Summer is such a wonderful season, full of sunshine and
the promise of renewal, but it's also a perfect time
for your skin to bloom by embracing a routine that

(05:12):
nourishes and rejuvenates. One of the best ways to ensure
this is to make your skincare regime slower, more sensory,
and deeply connected to nature. This means taking time to
really enjoy each step of your skin care process, using
products that are natural and gentle. Whether it's indulging in
a soothing herbal infused oil, or savoring the texture of

(05:32):
a handmade exfoliant. Let every moment be a sensory delight. Remember,
natural skincare is not just about the products you use,
but also about how you use them and the mindful
moments you create. If you're loving the tips and recipes
