(00:01):
Easy. I've got you, You'vegot me. Who's got you? Up
in the sky look in the day. It's a brain, it's a Superman.

(00:29):
You will give the people of birthan ideal to strive towards your race
behind you and will stumble or four. But in time they will join you
in the suncown. In time youwill help them accomplish wonders come to me,

(01:19):
Son of Jero. It is thepodcast full of Kryptonite. One more
week, one more episode of Supermanand Lois. This time around we are
talking season three, episode nine,The Dress I've got with me as always

(01:44):
Jason Colvin from the Shirley You Can'tBe Serious Podcast. Jason, how are
you doing? I'm good, John, How you do? Say? Man,
I'm doing fine. I'm doing fine. We were we had like it's
all end of the school year stuff. So it's all like the last of
everything. It's the last orchestra concert, last baseball games, last I don't
know, you pick it and that'swhat it is. So it's like we

(02:05):
are on the brink of summer.Yes, thank god, no Zod Sorry
funny sorry, general, that's aSuperman two joke. There I yeah,
there you go. There you go. He's okay with me, Now you
may continue, thank you, allright, But yes, we are here

(02:25):
to talk about the newest episode ofSuperman and Lois the Dress, and we
are what we were about two thirdsof the way almost through the season now,
so um, I'm still a littleinterested to see I still am not
super convinced that Bruno Mars is ourbig bad guy for this season. I

(02:46):
mean he's still there's little glimpses hereand there, and especially I think if
his wife dies then I think hecan he can you know, turn full
heel and uh, you know, full on bad guy for us. But
you know, they they said thatthey had cast the one actor as Lex
Luthor and we've yet to see him. He's been named apped multiple times,
but um, we haven't seen himyet. And and I don't know,

(03:07):
I'm just not they haven't pulled theBizarro card yet, even though he's you
know, chilling all dead like downin the basement. Um and uh yeah,
It's just I don't know, I'mnot I'm not getting the one villain
vibe from him. I'm getting theangry and desperate husband vibe. Sure,

(03:28):
yeah, yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I'm with you. Man,
there's a bunch of mid level badguys. We're waiting for the big
batty to show up. Yeah, there's somebody behind the scenes pulling the strings.
You know, they haven't really shownanything like that yet, but we
got Bizarro kind of waiting in thewings, and then we definitely have Luthor.
I think, you know, hecould be the big batty. Yeah,

(03:51):
I think, and I still feellike he And I don't know if
they if they feel like they're settinghim up for like a season four,
if they have a season four, hoping they do, but it's always a
possibility that, you know, theythey maybe introduce him by the end of
this season, and it kind ofsets him up for, you know,
being the season four villain because he'sprobably not too happy with Lois and Clark

(04:12):
for having put him in prison basedon what we found out a few episodes
ago was false evidence. So itwould be a great cliffhanger to end this
season with Luther shown up at thevery end. Here I am yeah,
bam, season three end, seeyou next season. Yeah, yeah,
he could. They could release himfrom the prison and like one of the

(04:32):
prison guards is like, hey,Luther, where are you going now?
And he just turns and goes Australiaand he and uh, what's his name?
Um otis otis from prison? Yeah, with a hot air balloon.
That would be amazing. Yes,yeah, who would be your fan casting

(04:56):
of Miss test Maker? Oh oh, I'm gonna have to have I'm gonna
have to work on that. That'sa good one. Um, I don't
know he got in that role,um, just for fun. If they
wanted to pull it from another Supermanshow, I would take Erica Durance who
played Lois in Smallville. Yeah, that'd be fun, right, that'd be

(05:18):
kind of fun. Drop in anotherformer Superman actor into into the show and
she could be Miss test Marker.Wow. Okay, I can see that.
I'm gonna have to think on thatand get back to you because I
don't want to blow that casting choiceout. Yeah yeah, all right.
Well yeah, so this time aroundwe are talking the dress um, and
there wasn't I mean until you getto kind of a big fight. Not

(05:39):
a whole lot of action in thisepisode. Like a lot of our episodes
lately, have been a lot ofthe character development and a lot of the
a lot of the drama. Thisone a little heavier on some of the
team drama too, which I knowand I don't know if it's because we
are very much past our teams, but it taxes us a bit. Sure

(05:59):
when there's a little bit too muchteen drama, it's kind of like,
okay, yeah, you, meand Tristan Martin were sharing a thread last
night. Yeah, and uh,anytime that a teenager came on screen,
the show got worse. When itwas back on, the adults got better.
Yeah, I'm all for a littlebit, Like, I'm okay with
them putting a little bit in becauseI know they gotta they gotta reach the

(06:21):
different demographics. But at the sametime, I'm like, anything we can,
we can, we can scale someof that back just a bit.
Yeah, the Saved by the BellSmallville edition is not my favorite. Yes,
I did jumping forward just a littlebit. I did appreciate the moment
where Sarah inserted herself and was like, hey, I said, hug it

(06:42):
out. Yeah that was that wascute. But yeah, when when we
got all Romeo and Juliet with Mateoand Natalie, I was saying, Okay,
I think your your text was I'veonly really seen you three times.
I love you forever. Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, Well,
this episode was directed by Stephen Mayer, and he has When I went

(07:08):
through his IMDb, I was like, man, this guy's done a lot
of stuff I've seen. He wasin the camera department for several movies Haycheck,
Elysium, Rise of the Planet ofthe Apes. He was a director
of photography for a bunch of differentTV shows. I don't know if you've
seen the newer Lost in Space showthat was on Netflix haven't. It was

(07:29):
actually really good. Yeah, hewas director of photography on the second unit
for that one. He was Hedid several different TV shows. He was
a camera operator and director of photographyfor some extra units on Deadpool and Star
Trek Beyond and you know, abunch of different Mission Impossible, Ghost Protocol.

(07:49):
So he's been a camera operator ona lot of different movies. And
then he was director of photography fora couple of other decent TV shows,
Deadly Class, which I think isone that's that's based off of a comic
book, The Chilling Adventures of SabrinaUm the TV show c Have you seen
that one at all? No?I don't think. So. That's that's

(08:13):
the show where it's like a it'slike several hundred years in the future and
there was some virus that it's onApple TV Plus it's there's some virus that
infected everybody on Earth and everyone wentblind and so wow, Okay, it's
now hundreds of years later and societyhas kind of collapsed and it's everything is
kind of it seems very medieval, like there's there's a lot of tribes of

(08:37):
people. There's there's a couple ofkingdoms here and there of people, but
everything's very um, you know, things have definitely gone backwards in terms of
the technology. But what they doreally well in that show is because everyone
is blind, the way they dobattle sequences is really cool because you've got,
um Jason Momoa is one of themain actors in that the guy that
played Aquaman. Yeah, and heis so good in that show. And

(09:01):
the way they do the fight scenes, there's a lot of you know,
they take their weapons and they'll liketap it against something to do like the
echolocation stuff, or they have theseweapons they've developed that they don't have to
be they don't have to be ableto see to use them. Okay,
and so you know, they stillhave like long range weapons there's not just
hand to hand fighting, there's otherstuff. But the way the writers have
done this show, I'm like, all right, that's kind of cool,

(09:24):
Like the way you thought through.Hey, if society was completely blind,
how would we do war? Youknow, how would we do this kind
of stuff? And it's it's areally cool show. What's the name of
of it again, It's called csee Yeah, okay, yeah. So
he was a director of photographer forone of the units on that show.
So he's done a lot of stufffrom what I could tell, this was
his first supermandon Lois and maybe hisfirst aro Verse episode that he had directed.

(09:50):
So a newbie on this one.Okay, all right, So we're
going to run you through a littlebit of the plot here. We'll kind
of do that fairly quickly, butwe'll kind of comment as we go along.
And then most times, by theend of our episode, we have
a fun little award that we giveto some character in the episode. We
call the Naked Beppo because earlier inthis season one of the more fun loving

(10:16):
characters got a little disrobed, andso we've named the award after her.
So whoever in the episode is eitheracting out of character or just seems like
they're having fun or something. Thatperson receives the Naked Beppo Award. So
yes, so we'll catch up atthe end of the episode and we'll award

(10:37):
that one. So we kind ofjump in. And you made a comment
in our text thread that you feltlike you felt like you had missed something
like there was we had missed, like maybe like a point five episode between
the last one and this one,And I commented like, yeah, didn't
we end the last one with Bizarro'seyes opening up and then we jumped to
this one and it's like, yeah, No, everything's kind of, you

(10:58):
know, business as usual. We'rekind of in the flow already. Yeah.
I definitely felt like there was athere was a gap that we're just
we're just leaping across. So yeah, I wish I could be more specific
than that, but I felt likemy brain was trying to catch up with
what's going on with the action here. Yeah. Yeah, but clearly not

(11:20):
too much time has passed because wehave Clark and Lois are in. They're
talking about how her scans are lookinggood. She's she's pretty much finished with
the chemo, but she's got asurgery coming up. And that's kind of
what the what you know, herstory in this episode revolves around is her
nervousness about the surgery because her surgeryis going to be a double miss ectomy,

(11:41):
which is obviously going to change herbody forever. And she comments several
times that because of the chemo andbecause of everything else, she can't have
any kind of reconstructive surgery. Solike it's really that's what's really affecting her
this episode, and that's the titleof the episode is based on this red
dress that Clark bought her back whenthey were engaged, not married yet,

(12:05):
but they were engaged living in Metropolis. I think it said seventeen years ago
was the time caption on it.And it's based on this dress and in
the present day. This was agift that she loved from Clark. It
was the first kind of fancy dressanybody had ever bought her. It was
for an awards ceremony that they weregoing to be going to. I think

(12:26):
it probably had some other special significancefor them. But this red dress ends
up in a giveaway pile because she'sconvinced, you know, I can't wear
this. I'm not going to lookthe same in this, I can't and
you know that. So that kindof a lot of the drama, especially
the Lois and Clark drama of theepisode, it kind of revolves around that

(12:48):
and her unwillingness or inability to talkto Clark about those changes that are going
to happen, and kind of hernervousness about how that's going to affect their
marriage and and all that stuff. So so we kind of just say,
I just want to say real quick, Yeah, Missy Tillock's performance in this
episode was the best of the ofthe show. Oh absolutely, I thought

(13:11):
she She nailed it. She gaveit heart, she gave it emotion,
she gave it feeling, she carriedit, she carried it over the spots
where we had to listen to Natalieso but but her moments with Clark,
you know, how they transported themsort of back into their twenties. Yeah,
and made them you know, cooland fun and young, and uh,

(13:35):
I just thought they did it reallyreally well. Yeah. I've and
I don't. I I mean,we've we've done several episode we've done several
episodes together for this show, butwe've also done the one on your podcast
related to um you know, Supermanthe movie, um, Superman Too,
and Man of Steel, and we'vetalked about this, we did and we

(13:56):
did, you know, and we'veon our podcast. We've talked about Superman
four on there, and I thinkbriefly I talked about Superman three on one
of them. And I don't thinkI say this lightly that this pairing of
Tyler Hecklin and Betsy Tullock, Ithink is probably going to be really tough

(14:18):
for anybody else to beat when itcomes to portraying Lois and Clark going forward.
I agree with you, and Iknow that's kind of blasphemous because of
what Christopher Reeve did for us.Yeah, but you know, a lot
of people don't really like Margaret Kidderthat much. I tend to try and
defend her, but I understand wherethey're coming from. She kind of changed

(14:39):
really quickly before her eyes. Justpairing her and her Lois can be a
little off pudding, yes, well, and she's she's not very likable,
you know, she's mean to him, and his Clark character is extremely dorky
and that's his disguise as you know, clumsy, and it's and its Yeah,

(15:03):
and I think Tyler Hecklin does agreat job of being the greatest guy
on earth. Yeah, you know, Clark is the greatest dad and the
greatest husband and the greatest friend, and then he's also Superman, right,
and then of course this is myfavorite Lois. So yeah, I'm totally
with you. I don't I don'ttake it lightly either, And I think

(15:26):
this is the best Lois and Clarkthat we have. Yeah. Absolutely.
So we know that not too muchtime has passed because the fraternals are still
mad at each other because of whatJordan said to Jonathan about how all he's
doing is coffee runs um and he'sout, you know, he's out saving
the world. So there's there's stillkind of that background, a little bit

(15:48):
of the two of them not sohappy at each other. We have a
scene of Bruno mars Um confronting JohnHenry again at the I think they're at
the DoD and basic He's like, look, I need to see my wife.
She's dying, she doesn't have muchtime. You cannot keep her from
me, and John Henry basically says, look, you can see her,

(16:10):
just you need to give us everythingthat you have stolen. You need to
give us the X Kryptonite samples youhave. You need to give us Superman's
blood, You need to give usthe Bizarro corpse. You need all this
stuff. You hand that over andyou know, maybe we'll see you know.
And there's a point later in theepisode where Clark actually makes a deal
with him, shows up at athis house and his high rise and basically

(16:34):
says, look, I'm here onmy own. I don't agree with the
way things are being handled at thed D. Please just turn the stuff
out. Like, I know youlove your wife, I know you want
to see her. Please turn yourstuff over. And Bruno Mars is like,
what guarantee do I have that ifif I have these things you say
I had, what guarantee do Ihave that this is actually going to work?
And even if he and Superman oradversaries, the fact that Superman says

(17:00):
I give you my word, right, like, even even the worst Superman,
the villain, even I would imagine, even like Lex Luthor, anybody
could look at Superman as soon asSuperman goes I give you my word,
The worst of villains would probably belike, oh okay, it's Superman.
Superman is not even a lie tome, So I know if he says

(17:21):
that I know I can take thatto the bank. Yeah. So the
interesting thing I thought, I'm withyou. I mean, when Superman says
he's going to do something, he'sgoing to do it, right, But
as soon as he said I giveyou my word, the d D busted
in right so well, and Ilike that moment that he all of a
sudden he's got the superhero and allhe does is he turns and he goes,

(17:41):
this wasn't me. Yeah that wascool. Yeah. Yeah, So
I wonder if he's bound by hisword because the situation suddenly changed. Yeah,
yeah, I think so. Iwe'll get to that scene in just
a minute. I think there's someother things that happened in that scene that
mean that he will try to keephis word as best he can, and

(18:02):
I feel like the DoD will backhim up on that. But we'll talk
about that because General Gramps gets involvedtoo. So, by the way,
this is the first of many momentsin this episode where I'm siding with John
Henry. Okay, call me,call me old and crusty, but you
got the bad guy and you've gotleverage on him. You gotta use it.

(18:25):
Yeah, and we'll get to youknow, there's several times where I'm
like, yeah, hey, I'mwith him. Yeah, yeah. So
we have some scenes backing up justa little bit. We have some scenes
with Natalie. She's upset about notbeing able to see my tail. John
Henry has basically put her on housearrest. He's but also, you know,
she's got some additional protection she has. I think he's taken her phone,

(18:49):
he's made her wear like a trackingthing, and but he's also given
her like some kind of stunned batonthat she can whip out at a moment's
notice if she needs to take anybodydown. Yeah. Yeah, once again,
Team John Henry, keep going,m John, Harry and Jenna and
Lana have a little bit of adiscussion here and and you kind of get

(19:11):
some moments of you start to seehow their relationship has kind of been developing
over time. And and I thinkyou see some moments here where you know
she's basically about to take that stepof Hey, look, um, anytime
you need to talk about something,or maybe maybe not even talk about something,
just let me know, because I'mI'm around, and you know,

(19:33):
my ex firefighter husband is hanging outwith Chrissy Beppo so I'm I'm available.
Yeah, it's almost like the leanwas starting to happen. Yes, and
they were interrupted, so yeah, and they're gonna get even more interrupted later
on in the episode, but we'llget to that. Mateo has an awkward

(19:55):
conversation with his dad, asking hisdad, Bruno Mars, if he's killed
anyone, and the criminal gives thecriminal dad answer of well, Dad,
did you kill somebody? Have youkilled anybody? Look, I just want
you to know. Yeah, anythingI've ever done, I've done for Hobbs

(20:15):
Bay and you right, that's notan answer, Dad. I asked,
have you and mom ever killed anybody? Now, son, let me ask
you a question when you say killed, like how do you get fine killed?
Like? What would you I mean? Like yeah? So uh he

(20:36):
gives the non answer answer and justsays, look, everything I've ever done,
I've everything I do, I doit for you. And then it
was I thought it was kind ofawkward. That was a weird time to
break out into song and he gotthe got the raspy Brian Adam was kind
of voice going, and that wasweird. I didn't expect that to happen
in this episode. I wanted theunder Schwarzenegger reply, yeah, but they
were all bad. Yeah, Yeah, they were all bad. Yeah,

(21:04):
And so then we kind of cuttoo. There's another argument between John Henry
and Natalie, and she is nothappy with the way he is handling things
either. And then that is whenMannheim's or Bruno Mars's minions show up and
attack John Henry on the street anda very very public fight. We're gonna
have a public fight again later inthe streets of Smallville. Lots of public

(21:26):
fighting going on in the streets ofSmallville. So, yeah, the mayor
is not going to be very happywith the damage report. No, I
mean, she's already stressed out aboutthe high school, the black mold at
the high school, I know.I mean, she's got so much stuff
she's dealing with. They're gonna uncoverso much black mold with everything they got
torn up on the street. Soshe is, she's stressing out, she's

(21:48):
kind of she's kind of hoping thenext election comes up real soon. She
may be looking for somebody else totake her place. So then we have
a conversation. This is where, you know, this is where Clark brings
the clothes to the clothing drive andLana happens to spot the red dress and
starts to ask some questions about it, and this is so I'm gonna back

(22:10):
up just a second. I haveskipped over, and kind of intentionally,
I've skipped over the flashbacks that wehave that go back to when they were
at the Daily Planet seventeen years ago, when he's buying when he buys the
dress for her, they start off, and I love these flashbacks. I
kind of wish sometimes not to thedetriment of the story, but sometimes I

(22:30):
wish they would do more of these, because while I love the story of
them and their family in Smallville inpresent day, I would love to see
more of them before they before theyhad kids, or even when the kids
are little, or I feel likeyou could add a little bit of depth,
even more depth to the story byoccasionally, not every episode, occasionally

(22:53):
doing more flashbacks like this, becauseI love these flashbacks. Yeah, I'm
with you totally. Yeah, it'sfun to revisit Metropolis. My gosh,
I love this show, and Ilove what they do with the characters of
this show. But in the backof my mind sometimes I'm like, all
right, I really enjoy this, but I gotta see Clark and Lois at
the planet, Like, I wantto see them as big city reporters.

(23:15):
I want to see them doing someof that kind of stuff. Um,
it's totally fine if they live onthe farm and work for the small gazette
and and that kind of stuff. But occasionally, give me just a little
teeny tiny peek back at you know, fifteen years ago, seventeen years ago,
whatever it was. Yeah, ifthey could do a flashback to Niagara

(23:37):
Falls when they had to pair upas a in faint that they were a
married couple, I would love that. And Clark tripped over the bear rug,
that would be amazing. And youknow, Tyler Hecklin could could he
could do a trip over a bearrug? Like I feel, actually,

(23:57):
in all seriousness to go and havesome of their reporting adventures back when they
were you know, young reporters. That'd be great, man, Yeah,
because I think that would be likein the times where they've they've name dropped
or they've they've referenced, they're like, yeah, do you remember that case
that we had several years ago backin Metropolis when we did this and this
and this. They were pulling awhat was the character from Austin Power's basil

(24:22):
exposition, where all he's just givingall the exposition to the story. Right,
they're kind of pulling a basil expositionwith a lot of this, and
they're telling, not showing, bysaying, yeah, I remember that old
case where we had where Henry Millerin that old case and it was this
and it was this, Like, even just take a moment and just and
I know, you know, budgetwise, that's harder to do because you've
got to do a different location andprobably different you know, costumes and makeup

(24:45):
and everything else. But even justinstead of dropping like that that one or
two sentences, show us a quickscene of them back in Metropolis actually working
on the case. I think thatwould be kind of a cool way to
handle some of that Dully No.So the reason I bring up those flashbacks
is because what I love when Clarkgoes to drop off the stuff for Lana

(25:10):
and she sees the red dress. He makes a comment he made a comment
to Lois when he first bought thisthing seventeen years ago, and she's like,
this is expensive, and she's like, you didn't say and I forget
what she says. It's like, you didn't sell something and he's like,
no, my my baseball card collectionand she goes, not your cal Ripken

(25:30):
one, your cal Ripken Rookie card, and he's like, well, because
of the value of that, Imean, that's what made it. That's
why I got such a good dealon it. Fast forward seventeen years.
Apparently both of his girlfriends know abouthis cal Ripken Rookie card, because when
he goes to drop off this reddress to Lana Lana's he says something like
She's like, this is amazing andhe's like, yeah, I had a

(25:52):
you know, it was kind ofexpensive and had to sell my baseball heart
card collection. And she's like,oh, not the cal Ripken Rookie card.
So everyone that's that Clark has everhad a relationship with knows all about
his baseball card collection. It's importantto him. Clark is one of those
big baseball card collecting nerves. He'sgonna tell everybody about the cards he gets.
And yeah, and guess what Itexted you interested, Yeah, I

(26:18):
actually have if you have the nineteeneighty two tops cal Ripken Ricky card.
Nice And right before we jumped on, we checked the value. Of course,
it ranges everything from twenty dollars, but the biggest I saw was four
thousand dollars. So you could buya nice red dress for four thousand dollars,
Yes you could, Yeah, yesyou could. Yeah. So so

(26:40):
it depends on which one Clark has. But I'm sure it was enough too.
And he said, he said hesold the whole collection, so you
know, with the whole collection,I'm sure he uh, I'm sure he
had enough to get a very nicered dress. So um, so we
we get back to um. Therewas something about this scene with we get
back to the kids, and thisis a scene where and it was the

(27:00):
team drama stuff, but there wassomething that happened in this scene that both
simultaneously made me cringe but also mademe laugh out loud. Okay, it
was not necessarily because of the teamdrama. It was because of one line
that one of these characters spoke,So they're kind of John had said something
in an earlier scene that made Natalieupset because he's like, well, the

(27:21):
dude's dad's a criminal, so youknow, maybe you shouldn't be dating him
anyway, and then she fires backwith hey, um, pot kettle,
didn't your girlfriend's dad like steal yourtruck and do it and like threaten your
mom with a gun and all kindsof other stuff. Ah touchet. So
they're all hanging out later and she'skind of off sitting on a bench somewhere

(27:45):
and John Jordan, and Sarah arekind of sitting on the fence, and
you know, they're kind of talkingabout stuff, and Sarah says something like,
yeah, this must just be reallytough, you know, and and
then Jordan says, while right nextto Sarah, goes, yeah, it's
really tough. She says something likeit's really tough when you can't be with
the person you love, and Jordanjust sits there and goes, yeah,

(28:08):
it's torture. And you just seeSarah turn and look at him, okay,
And I love that line. Ilove the fact that he drops that
line right there next to her,and I'm just like, dude, it's
probably been at least weeks or maybemonths, you gotta let it go.
But it was it was a funnymove on his part to just be like,

(28:30):
you know, the one last littledig at Sarah there, like,
yeah, actually it's torture. Iknow all about that, Yeah exactly.
Yeah. The teen drama in thisepisode was was rough. I even made
a note to myself the the advicethat is being passed around here is really
priceless between teenagers. Right, yeah, so you've got so what if your

(28:55):
parents get mad? So what?Yeah? Also, Matteo, he's not
his parents, so it's totally fineto date him. Yeah, and then
of course you care about him, right This, this type of advice given
a teenager is so dumb. Yeahbut anyway, Yeah, moving on.

(29:18):
This is how kids make poor choices. Yes, they listen to each other
rather than theirs. By listening toeach other. Yeah, um, so
we do make up for some ofthe teen drama by having some of these
great conversations between the adults. SoLana shows up to have a conversation with
Lois and basically say, hey,look, I know you're I know you're
feeling this way, and you haveevery right to feel this way, but

(29:40):
you also need to I mean, consider the consider the source of your red
dress, So I consider who you'remarried to. You know, even though
you're feeling this way, and youhave absolutely every right to feel this way
and to be worried about this andall this, but you've got to remember
who are you married to Lois,He's gonna be totally fine with all this,

(30:02):
Like, right, his dedication, his loyalty is going to be unwavering.
I mean, you have basically marriedthe most loyal superdog that has ever
existed. He will not leave yourside, so you can you can pretty
much rest easy in that part. The other stuff, absolutely, it's it's
going to you know, your bodyis going to be ravaged by this disease

(30:23):
and you will never be the sameand all that, and that is definitely
something that you have to work through. But at the same time, like,
don't don't doubt his end of thingsbecause that part's gonna be fine.
Yeah. It goes back to Clarkbeing the greatest guy in the world,
right right, and he demonstrates itis. Somehow Tyler Hecklin pulls it off

(30:44):
towards not roll your eyes, gouienice. Right, it's all sincere and
genuine. I love it. Yeah, it does a great job. No,
you absolutely believe that he would bethe nicest guy, the best to
add, the best father, thebest husband, the best friend. Yeah.
Yeah, So this is a scenewe talked about earlier. We jumped
to Bruno Mars and Soups Soups showsup outside his door and you can see

(31:07):
Bruno's about the trigger some alarm andhe's like, did you hold on just
here to talk like, I'm notI'm not. I I feel for you.
I saw the way you looked atyour wife. I know that this
is tearing you up, and Iagree with you. I feel like you
should be with her. She's she'sdying. She deserves to be their family,
regardless of what she's done. Soman, just just give this stuff

(31:29):
back. And if you give thisstuff back, I give you my word
that I will. I will makesure that you get to see her again
and that your son gets to seehis mother again. And and that's when
the DoD busts in. Then Sam. General Gramps steps in a little bit
later and basically finds out that JohnHenry has been making this very very personal.
And General Gramp steps in is like, dude, I put you on

(31:53):
point on this one, and you'retaking this a little bit too far.
I need you to back off abit. And when John Henry does not
back off, General Grahams is like, well, okay, here's the deal.
I am in charge, So whydon't you go home because you're you're
done here, so pack it up, take your stuff, take your ball,
and go home. So were youso so in this scene too?

(32:16):
Were you were you siding with JohnHenry in this scene? Yes, yes,
always. Yeah, they've got leverageon the bad guy. They need
to work quickly. You've got himin advice. He wants to see his
wife. Give us what we wantand you can go. It's your choice.
Yeah, and they're not heard him. Yeah, yeah, And that's

(32:37):
that was the interesting thing about thisepisode is there are I mean, there
are several instances in which I feellike there was an interview just within the
last couple days or so with theWallet Parks who plays John Henry, and
he had said, you know,as an actor, he was asked,
you know, do you do youthink that what John Henry did in this

(32:58):
episode, you know, did hetake it too far? And the actor's
response was no, I don't feellike my character had any other choice than
what to do what he did inevery instance, for what he did,
while some people may not like it, he as a character was backed into
a corner and this is his familyhad been threatened, a bomb had been

(33:20):
strapped to his sister, his doppelgangeron this Earth has been murdered by this
person. So while Superman is alwayswilling to see the best in everyone,
including villains, you know, JohnHenry is like, look, I've experienced
the worst of this guy, soI applaud you for seeing the best in

(33:42):
everyone. But at the same time, I got to deal with this issue
before it becomes even worse. Absolutelyso, yeah, so he wouldn't he
wouldn't spoil anything, but he saidhe was asked in the interview, you
know, how do you think thisis going to change the relationship between Clark
and John Henry? And he said, well, you know, I'm not
gonna spoil anything, but I willsay in this kind of a situation,

(34:04):
John Henry might be the type ofperson to say, hey, look,
Clark, I can see your perspective, but had we taken care of things
my way a little bit earlier onmight not aspiraled into what it is now.
In that kind of a situation,I'm like, I, I mean,
I see where Clark is coming from. Especially you know, that's that's
Clark Superman's m O. You know, he sees the best in everyone.

(34:27):
And his response, you know, later in the episode, when John Henry,
you know, kills Adam Man isthere's always a choice, and that's
that's how Superman operates, is there'salways a choice. However, in the
real world sometimes there may not bea choice. So I feel like I
feel like you can't really fault eitherone of these guys for the way they

(34:49):
view the world because they're both right, but they there's issues with both of
them. Sure, so I cansee that. Yeah, the big action
that John Henry takes here in afew minutes, I'm also okay with.
Yeah, that guy need to beput down and he did it. Yeah.
Yeah, he is not immortal oryou know, unhurtable like Superman is.

(35:17):
You know, Superman can have mercyon everybody, right because nobody can
kill him basically, I don't know. I was on his side for that
as well. When we'll get tothat, we'll talk about it. But
then they have made multiple attempts tokill him, so yeah and threat.
Yeah. So there is a scenewhen Bruno Mars goes back down into his

(35:40):
underground layer. There was a scenethat got me a little worried because he
basically goes downstairs and I don't knowif that's doctor Hook that was down there
or who it was, but hebasically walks downstairs and says, I need
somebody taken care of turns and looksat Adam Man is like, uh,

(36:00):
I think you better go wake himup. And then I got real worried
because I'm like, if Bruno Marsturns around and looks at somebody goes,

(36:21):
I'm about to go medieval on thisguy. This is turning into a very
different show. I don't I don'tknow if I'm on board for that,
but can wake up the game?Yeah, Bruce Willis shows up, Zod's
dad baby Z's by the way thisis I thought they're gonna go wake up

(36:46):
Bizarrow at that moment. I didtoo. I actually kind of thought,
you know, except for the factthat Henry Miller was in the back to
tank back there, Um, Idid think that that was gonna be the
route they were gonna go. Sincewe saw Bizarrow's eyes open up at the
end of the last episode, Iwas like, oh, right, it's
going to be Bizarro time. Butyeah, right, well, it may

(37:07):
have to be Bizarro time next timebecause we have the we have the big
fight that takes place in downtown Smallvilleand they smash up just about everything,
and big Dude attacks. John Henry'ssuit is not working quite right after his
battle with Pia from before, stillhasn't repaired it just yet, and he

(37:29):
is he's in rough shape. AndSuperman does eventually show up. He and
Lois are are in the middle ofhaving a conversation, another one of those
great conversations between the two of them, talking about the kind of things that
Lana was telling Lois she should tellhim about, and then he overhears this
fight. He comes rushing in kindof saves the day. But Henry Miller

(37:50):
is also you know, he isjust as in that moment, he's just
as strong as Superman, and theBig One is just as strong as Superman,
and he you know, there's amoment where Superman kind of gets knocked
to the side and John Henry iscalling his warhammer to him, and the
hammer shows up and with one,you know, one strike, he basically

(38:13):
guy's done. He's down for thecouch. He's kills him. He's dead,
so drops him. Yeah. Yeah, in his defense, he's knocked
around plenty of people with that warhammer, didn't kill him before. Yeah,
So the limitations on this guy,Sorry, right, and then secondly,
it's which get man. Well,I mean, it's the whole thing is

(38:35):
in self defense. They've they've threatenedhim, they've threatened his daughter, they've
you know, they came to wherehe lives and attacked him, and so,
you know, and there was therewas a chance Superman was not going
to get there in time, soI know, yeah, f around and
find out man. Yeah, wedid skip over a scene that was pretty

(39:00):
hilarious. I'm skipping over some ofthe team drama on purpose, but that
was one of the simes where whereNatalie Matteo are there and like I love
you because we've known each other forthree days, and the other ones like
well I love you too, andand yeah, though the whole Romeo and
Juliet thing there. But the funnyscene that came right before Lois and Clark

(39:21):
were having their conversation was Clark getshome and Lana and Lois have planned this
party that they're going to have beforeshe has her surgery and then and they're
gonna go have So now we knowthat in the Superman DC comics lore,
we know that there's you know, there's restaurants like the Big Belly Burger,

(39:42):
we know that from the arrow Versethat there's there's Big Belly Burgers everywhere.
Now we've established another restaurant franchise withinthe DC universe, and that is Bazoombas.
Bazoombas. Yes, so Lois andLana have decided that they are going
to plan this party at Bazoombas. And I love Clark's I love Clark's reaction

(40:04):
to the whole thing because if itwas anyone other than Clark, you would
think that he's joking. But assoon as they mentioned that, his first
response is, oh, the chickenWing place, right, And they both
look at They both both look athim like, oh Clark, you you
simple, simple man. Yes,no, no, you're it's the chicken

(40:25):
wing place. Nobody goes there forthe food, right. And then it
takes him a minute and he's like, oh I get that now, Okay,
all right, that makes sense. So you're kind of wondering, like
what's running through his head? Likewhy do you think they call the restaurant
that Clark it? Yeah? Soyeah, Clark is is like the most

(40:45):
innocent, naive person that for somebodywho can hear and see everything simultaneously across
the earth. He is also themost innocent and naive person every once in
a while, dense, sometimes alittle bit, a little bit, but
it's I will say, I willsay this about bazoombas. Yeah, in
general, change that. When wasthat in general or related to the show?

(41:09):
Let me tell you my opinion onbazoomas. I'm for them. But
uh, you know, Lois isgetting ready to lose her bazoobas and so
she's going to go celebrate by hangingIt's it's it's a funny moment. The
show doesn't make a lot of sense. But okay, yeah, okay,
sure. I thought she and Lnawere probably having a couple of drinks and

(41:30):
that's when they came and yeah,um, so we have it was we're
kind of wrapping up the episode.Uh you know, general, Gramps and
Superman are having some conversations, youknow about how you know this this has
not gone well. Um, thingshave kind of been fallen apart a little
bit. Um, John Henry andNatalie are kind of arguing over Pia,

(41:52):
and then Bruno Omars and Matale arearguing over how Bruno Omars tried to kill
John Henry. Um, and thenBruno decides this is a great time to
go show his son his underground lair. So it's like, you know,
no, son, I'm not goingto tell you whether or not I've killed
people, but let me go showyou the Superman corpse I have in the
basement, right all right? Right? So Lex Luthor in in the movie

(42:20):
Versions was always like, you knowwhat my father always told me when I
was young, get out. No, it's before that. Um location location
land Land is people are no goodland. Bruno mars. This whole thing
is Mateo's whole thing is me.You know what my dad told me when
I was young. Hey kid,I've got Superman's body down in the basement.

(42:42):
Let's go take a look at it. Yeah, let me show you.
Let me show you what what havocI'm about to wreak on this place
when I revived this thing. Andso he does a he refers back to
last season and kind of explains weget Ali Alston's name dropped, which I'm
sure Mateo listens to her podcast becauseeverybody does. Um, and she's a
podcaster I know the worst kind ofpeople. Um and uh yeah, So

(43:07):
he's he's got the Bizarro body downthere, and he's planning to use it.
Clark gets back home. In thenext scene, and the boys are
talking and they are worried about JohnHenry and they're like, look, that's
this is um, this is troubling. Like the whole family is like this.
I mean, did he really killthe guy like in the middle of
the street in Smallville and and hClark is like, yeah, Brick killed

(43:32):
a guy with a trident. Ithink you might want to lay low for
just a little bit. That thatescalated quickly and put pulled the whole little
Ron Burgundy moment there. But yeah, So the boys are worried about John
Henry and what's going to come ofall this, And and the last scene
that we get in this is Clarkand Lois are talking to each other and

(43:52):
um, they have decided that theyare going to relive the moment seventeen years
ago when she or the red dressfor the first time, and because she's
worried that she may not ever beable to wear this dress ever again,
They're going to you know, they'regoing to go flying with each other.
And I'm like, maybe even putflying in quotation marks there. They are

(44:14):
going to get dressed up, sohe's wearing his tucks so either he's bought
one since then, or he rentedanother one, or he sold more baseball
cards and got himself a Tucks. But she's got her red dress, he's
got the Tucks. And we havethis kind of touching moment at the end
where they basically go flying off intothe into the air together and in each

(44:35):
other's arms, and that's where theepisode fades to black. Okay, so
the last couple of minutes of theshow were the best moment of the entire
episode. Yeah, so, notonly do you have you know, Lewis
and Clark at the Messi's you know, in the in the limo for the
first time with her red dress. She looks great, he looks great.

(44:57):
They're young, and they're in love. You know, she tells it.
You know, she asked him,you know, how fast do you think
you can take my dress off?Which is a fantastic thing to ask your
boyfriend her husband. And turns outSuperman can actually do things very fast.
He's actually faster than a speeding bullet. I don't know if you know that
or not. I haven't heard thatonce or twice. And then you've got

(45:21):
Lewis and Clark reliving that moment andflying together, and I thought it was
great. It was sweet, itwas romantic, it's impactful. All that
stuff was great. Wrapped around Savedby the Bell, Smallville, you know.
Yeah, yeah, so a reallyreally strong episode. I mean,

(45:44):
some of the strongest performances, especiallyout of Lois and Clark, that we
have seen, I think in thewhole series up to this point. I
think that's one of the great thingsabout this And I know some other people
would complain, because I see peopleonline complaining all the time that there's not
enough action and not enough uper fightsand things like that. But I've said
it before and I'll say it again, that's one of the things this show

(46:05):
does well is they do the dramaand the performance is so well that honestly,
I don't I don't miss or needmore super fights. You know,
you give me one per episode andI'm pretty good. And I enjoy these
characters so much that I want toknow more about them and what's going on
in their lives. And sure, throwing a superfight every now and then,

(46:27):
but we've got to know these charactersand we want to know what's going on
with them. So yeah, Ithought this was a great episode. Yeah,
I'm with you, man, I'mwith you. I love the characters,
even when Natalie is barely tolerable. You know, we've invested ourselves in
the boys, their friends, Lewisand Clark, Lana, Kyle, Christie,

(46:52):
you know. So just because there'sonly one small fight in this doesn't
make it any less. And Ilove the moment at the end. So
episode overall, yeah, absolutely, all right, Well, before we leave,
we have to we have to bestowthe naked Beppo on somebody in this
episode. So yes, so I'mgonna ask you, did you find a

(47:14):
naked Beppo? This one was actuallyhard because I don't think anybody was having
a lot of fun in this episode. I thought the same thing, like,
this was not a fun episode.There's a lot of there's a lot
of hard stuff going on, alot of hard conversations. Yeah, it
was. It was a difficult Agood episode, but a difficult episode.
And nobody's really having any fun here. So I'm curious to see, you

(47:34):
know what yours is? Okay,So, because you know, Lana has
a rough, tough conversation with Lois. Lois is dealing with the removal of
her breasts. You know, JohnHenry is caught in you know, he's
in trouble with everybody because he hasto make hard decisions. Grahams is mad
at him for doing this. Allthis drama is going on, the kids

(47:57):
are in turmoil. There's only oneperson that could possibly in my mind when
the Naked Beppo Award this week, and it's for something that happened seventeen years
ago, going with Clark and thesuper speedy removal of the red dress and
the and the loving moment in theback of a limousine. How could I

(48:21):
not give it to Clark? Clark, naked Clark and naked Lois get the
Naked Beppo this week? All right, I'm not surprised like that. That's
that's like the only moment of funthat, yeah, I probably could have
in this episode. Okay, yeah, are you agreeing? I think what
you got we got a daily double. The only thing, no, we

(48:43):
don't have a daily double. It'sI think I'm still going to give it
to Clark, but for a differentreason. Okay, the only thing that
might have made one of those momentseven just a little bit funnier. And
I'll have it just live in myhead. I don't need it to be
in the show itself, and itwouldn't work now that we know that this
universe is different from the Arrow universe. But when she asked that question,
you know, how fast could youcould you do that? If he had

(49:06):
just if he had been gullible Clarkfor a second and would have just been
like, Okay, well we'll seewhy I'm not as fast as Barry.
But you know, if I wereto think through this, so that just
that lives in my head, butthat's I don't need that in the actual
episode. So I'm going to givemine to Clark. But I'm gonna give
mine to Clark for a reason thatI've kind of already stated. I'm giving
mine to Clark from let's say,you know, maybe another ten to fifteen

(49:35):
years before that moment. I'm givenmine to little Clark, who is running
around telling all of his girlfriends abouthis baseball cards. That kid, he's
you know, he I'm sure heprobably picked up a Barry Bonds rookie card,
or he might have had like aRoger Clemens card or a Bo Jackson
card, or I don't know something, or Ricky Henderson card or something like

(49:59):
that. I'm sure he as soonas he'd get each of these carys,
he'd run around tell everything. Becauseif both of the women that he's had
relationships with, and as far aswe know, Clark hasn't had a ton
of girlfriends in his life, right, if they, if they both seventeen
years apart from each other, canreference the exact card that he's like,
Yeah, that is my favorite, then I'm going to give that to like

(50:22):
little Clark and twenty something Clark. The fact that both of them know that
that he is that excited and exuberantabout his baseball card collection at no matter
what age he is like, allright, Clark, you're having fun.
Even though you had to sell yourcollection, you're having fun. I'm going
to give that one to you.And I like it. That's good and

(50:42):
that's fun. So so little boyClark gets my naked babbo for this one.
Okay, I got two things foryou, real quick, do it.
Number One, our buddy Tristan Martin, he nominated the ladies who work
at Bozoombas as the naked Babbo thisweek. Well, well, when he's
having more fun than the girls whowork at Bazoomas. Number two, I

(51:05):
wish the episode, although you know, we talked about what a sweet moment
that was and kind of how excitingyoung love is and if they had somehow
done this where Lois had said, how fast do you think could get my
dress off? And then have sortof a little smirk from Clark and a
flash of lightning and have him goingthat fast, have him holding the red

(51:31):
dress. You know, you don'thave to see Lois, but that would
have been a funny moment, Ithink, yeah. Or awkward scene of
like red cloth just falling from thesky. That's right, sequence going everywhere.
That's what if you really wanted tomake it make it awkward for the
fraternals, is that they're back athome and they're they're in their room in

(51:54):
the farmhouse and all of a sudden, it's like something hits the window and
they're like, what was that?Did Dad drop his cape again? Nope?
Are you okay? Jordan? Iwish I didn't have superhering and exactly
exactly. H yeah, all right, Well everybody that is going to do

(52:17):
it for this episode, thank youas always for joining us. Um I
believe we've got another new episode nextweek. I did not get a chance
to watch the promo. But Ibelieve the next episode is called I believe
it's called Collision Course and it iscoming up next week, and so we're
gonna see I believe there's there's stillmore attempts by Bruno Mars to either get

(52:40):
Pa back or see her or youknow, he's he's going to continue to
try to do what he needs todo. And it looks like there's going
to be some more tensions still betweenJohn Henry and Clark and that whole situation.
So we're gonna be continuing on withkind of a little bit more of
what we had this episode. SoI will say gonna be tough to although
I say each time it's gonna betough to top the drama and the writing

(53:02):
and the performances of this one, because this one was this one was special.
It was great. Yea, allright, Well, thank you,
Jason. Always have fun talking withyou. Always any chance we get to
