Rubén Darío. (Metapa, República de Nicaragua, 18 de enero de 1867 -
León, República de Nicaragua, 6 de febrero de 1916). Poeta,
periodista y diplomático, está considerado como el máximo
representante del modernismo literario en lengua española.
Su nombre completo es Félix Rubén García Sarmiento.
Su familia paterna era conocida como los Daríos,
y por ello adopta apellidarse Darío.
Cursa estudios elementales en León (Nicaragua).
De formación humanística, es un lector y escritor precoz.
En sus poemas juveniles, publicados en un periódico local,
se muestra muy independiente y progresista, defendiendo la libertad,
la justicia y la democracia. Con 14 años empieza su actividad
periodística en varios periódicos nicaragüenses.
