Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Columbus Hastings and DMAC on demand. Listen to
PhD Live every weekday from noon to three on Altitude
Sports Radio ninety two five and on the Altitude Sports
Radio app.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Now, I'm making a second and thirteen Fields first.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Pass, all kinds of time moving me hits right, running
out of time, and that is no game.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Former jet John Franklin Myers ended that play.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Only two completed passes for one yard for Justin Fields. See,
you can get more runs out of time, and you
can't run out of the pocket.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
As he is taken down right there.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
By Laza Rique. Fields runs out of time and Jonathan.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Cooper, I'm not normally speechless, but I'm trying to figure
this out.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Fields tries to avoid.
Speaker 5 (01:03):
The rush and kind of.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Trailed all the way to that safety that put him
in this spot. Third and five, Fields popping the ball
and that's.
Speaker 6 (01:12):
The end of it.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Our fun guy with another second Fields, long time. He
runs out with his humming off looked out. How was
Jonathan Cooper on the play?
Speaker 7 (01:25):
Yeah, nine set, I mean you don't rarely hear of
negative twenty yards passing, so that that's a little unusual.
I think they had eighty some yards total offense. Our
defense was outstanding too.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Fields is st Nick Bertino leading.
Speaker 8 (01:44):
The way with the defense we run. It's a lot
being thrown out a quarterback, so you know it's gonna
be difficult to just be able to just sit there
and be like, I'm gonna get the ball out when
you don't know who's coming and who's dropping and doing
all these different things. I thought he did a good
job today in my opinion, and oh, I feel like
the defense, you know, we had a good plan for
him at the same time.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
So Fields tucks. It was taken down big first down sack,
minute fourteen to zero. This is essentially the game is
the Jets are out of timeouts.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Fields av it's the sack until he can't.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Jonathan Cooper the first in.
Speaker 7 (02:24):
Well, it was a defensive team today, and I hope
to consider it a defensive team all season. I mean,
I think in order to win, I think that's extremely
necessary in our league. And they were something.
Speaker 9 (02:45):
The Broncos win thirteen to eleven. Why does this feel
like a loss? So the big question of the day
is what happens next? And who is this team?
Speaker 5 (02:55):
Scott?
Speaker 9 (02:56):
Who are the Denver Broncos, and we welcome your comments
three three, five four on YouTube. You can throw it
out there on the text line. And we're taking calls
today too. So let me ask you this. Who are
the Denver Broncos right now? And where do you think
this is going?
Speaker 5 (03:14):
Scott?
Speaker 6 (03:17):
I think they are a monster, good defensive team that
has a average average offense. I think I think the
offensive line, and this in my opinion, and I'm being consistent,
let's said it from since training camp. I think they've
(03:37):
got kind of an average offensive line. They're not bad.
I don't think they're great. And you lose one of
those guys that are maybe call them above average offensive line.
I don't care what the PFF says. They're statistically well,
they're the best of past because you get the ball
out with shore routes, there's no coverage. Every time Boast
(03:57):
say five steps, he's pressured. I don't see a lot
of protection on five and seven step drops. I don't.
I don't see a whole lot of time. We just
had the one color talking about the happy feet of bow. Yeah,
that's when he gets five and seven drops. If it's
shotgun one step back throw, he's good. Oh, look at
that pass protection. No caught it one step through. That's
one and a half seconds. It doesn't matter. I think
(04:21):
Dobbins is good, but there was zero holes. I mean
I watched the game and started watching it again this morning.
I mean he had his first handful of runs. I
mean there was nothing. Nothing there was there weren't even
cutback late.
Speaker 9 (04:33):
I didn't know why they even bothered running after a while.
And I know Sean writes it on his play sheet
running okay, fine, but seriously they would have been better off.
Speaker 6 (04:41):
Just saying because I really do, and I know I
make fun of Sean and he is a good coach.
I'm glad he's here, but I really do think he
gets stuck in his head that I'm smarter than you
and we're just gonna eventually out scheme you. And look
what we did and against the Jets, that was there
every time the game he felt that they got out
The Jets got out schemed by you on our offense.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Offensively.
Speaker 6 (05:03):
No, did you ever think there was a time the Problems.
Speaker 9 (05:05):
Had one good drive, they had a touchdown drive, and
during that drive they put some nice things together and
and the throat to Adkins, I mean who saw that coming.
It's like a second catch of the year. Now he's
catching touchdown passes. Beautiful play call. And you were just
when that happened, all right, when that happened, I.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
Thought, here we go, Yes, yes, okay, all right, not great,
your your minus one giveaway takeaway. You haven't done anything,
but you're winning ten to six. At halftime, I'm like, okay,
all right.
Speaker 9 (05:35):
We're gonna be fine. And then it just it was
it just you're hanging on for dear life and the
safety and we're losing.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
We're losing.
Speaker 9 (05:44):
You realize that technically goes down as a fourth quarter
comeback win for bow Nicks.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
That's what it was. It was a fourth quarter comeback win.
Speaker 9 (05:57):
Well that as was as was the game against the
Jets last year.
Speaker 5 (06:03):
Was a one point.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
Win in Philadelphia last week. But that was more impressive.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Yes, well, of course, the.
Speaker 6 (06:12):
I can't remember where I heard this, I guess is
VIC and that promo that we're running here on the
on the radio station. You went six straight possessions, punting
six in a row. How does that happen? If you've
got better than average quarterback, a top four quarterback in
(06:32):
the future, a mastermind coach. You know, two or three
games ago, we were talking about thank god we have
Courtland Sutton, And in two games now he's getting three targets.
One was at his feet, one was just let me
get out of my hand, so don't take a sack,
and Cortland raised his hand. I'm here, look, I'm the
closest one. So that wasn't really a target, but I'm
(06:53):
sure that's what they gave it to him for. He's
not Hughes. They don't have anything Scott special on this
team offense.
Speaker 9 (07:01):
It's got the Broncos. The Broncos didn't allow a first
down on the Jets first three possessions and they trailed
in the game six to three. It was one of
the more mind boggling games numbers wise, of all time.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
Like, I don't know how to explain it.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
Well, you've got the Giants come up this weekend.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Yeah, that's a different That game will look a.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Little different than we thought it was you know a
month ago.
Speaker 5 (07:34):
Yeah, we got it.
Speaker 9 (07:35):
It's weird because like with the Giants, you really truly
have to throw out their first few games there with
Russell Wilson. You can only look at the Giants through
the eyes of So they're two and four, right, not great,
but they're two and one since they made the change
and what they did before that actually doesn't matter, and
they could have won a couple of those games.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
He lost one in overtime, right.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
Yeah, but they're a different team, yeah, big time. They're
just there's an energy about them.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
Yes, they've gained an energy.
Speaker 9 (08:06):
So I'm terrified, terrified of this game against the Giants.
I feel way better playing the Cowboys next week, who
have a terrible defense, and as good as their offense is, fine, whatever,
I'm terrified against the Giants.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
I'm not that afraid of the Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
How many games in the next three weeks? And when
we've got Giants Cowboys.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Do they have after the Cowboys?
Speaker 6 (08:31):
No Raiders, Giants Cowboys, Raiders? Okay, I believe right, double checking?
No Texans, Hey, Giants, Giants, Cowboys Texans. Yeah, and then
the Raiders. Yeah, so the next four weeks. And by
the way, you're kind of two and zero in October.
Looks like he.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
Keeps it rolling back, Yeah, keep it rolling.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
How many those next four games do you win? If
you score thirteen points.
Speaker 9 (08:58):
You probably don't beat the Giants with thirteen. You don't
beat the Cowboys with thirty. You definitely don't beat the
Cowboys with thirteen. You may beat the Raiders with thirteen
because who knows, And you might have a shot against
the Texans with thirteen. Maybe that's at Houston, but they're
they they've been all over the place.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
It's hard to.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
Ah know.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
They're two and three. The Texans are a weird team.
So I'd say, you know, you may may may.
Speaker 9 (09:24):
Beat the Raiders and the Texans. You definitely will not
beat the Giants and the Cowboys, and that's a may.
You may beat nobody just scoring thirteen points. Frankly, unlt
we play the Browns again.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
See I'm looking at that that schedule.
Speaker 9 (09:39):
By the way, Week seven coming up for the Browns.
Can't win with Dylan Gabriel either. We'll see Buddy numbers.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
I didn't look at this.
Speaker 9 (09:46):
He was okay, but I mean, still, what are you doing?
You know it was a riot? Was Joe Flacco for
the Bengals. Did you see him hunking the ball up
left and right, gave a shot? I mean, it was
pretty funny. He definitely gave him a shot. So much
for practice, but uh gosh, I think he had Wait,
I get it back because I think he had fifty
(10:06):
passing attempts. So they lose to the Let's see here,
they lose to the Packers. Yeah, twenty nine forty five.
So he joins the team and he has up the
ball forty five times. Rout Trees or rout Tree Scott.
Then you know whatever, let's not overcomplicate this thing.
Speaker 6 (10:27):
Anyway.
Speaker 9 (10:28):
The point is where the Broncos going. Where's your confidence
level with what's going on here?
Speaker 6 (10:33):
Uh? Well, I'm not gonna chuck them away. I still
think they can beat the Giants. I think they're an
emotional team, and I think Drake Greenlaw will be nice
if he does get back this week. You got a
team that wants to power run on you. Now you
bring in a power middle linebacker. Let's see if that
that changes some things. But no, no, we haven't heard
(10:58):
anything whether he'll be he'll put get back now or not.
But I like its beating the Giants, why just because
it's at home. I like it's beating the Dallas because
it's at home. But I think you're gonna have to
score twenty five points against Dallas to win. And I
think you're probably gonna have to score I like settling.
(11:22):
You're gonna score at least twenty two against it's the
Giants to win the game. Three touchdowns. I'm saying we
got to score these three touchdowns to win the game.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
It was great being the Eagles, wasn't it. They pounded
the Eagles. They pounded the Eagles pounded the Eagles.
Speaker 6 (11:36):
It would even.
Speaker 9 (11:37):
Close because they got the two takeaways. They were plus
two the Broncos. The Broncos didn't have any takeaways against
the Jets. As the only one thing about this defense,
it's a little like bah, you know, it's like no takeaways.
Most almost almost yesterday, so ten almost did.
Speaker 6 (11:53):
But most points Denver scored this year, and they've done
it twice twenty eight and guess what they are one
and one. Remember they lost in the twenty nine to
twenty eight.
Speaker 9 (12:07):
If you can't figure out how to score twenty eight
points against the Giants, you may be in trouble. The
Giants are gonna put up some points the Giants this
He is a young quarterback, though, and young quarterbacks can
be all over the play Scott.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
They can. They can. They can have third games as
well as they can have big games. So you really
don't know.
Speaker 9 (12:27):
But it's gonna be hard to beat the Giants if
you if you can't win giveaway takeaway, Like the Broncos
were minus one yesterday. I think if your minus one,
you lose. I think you got to be on the
plus side. I don't even as okay even got you
a win against the Eagles, but you got to. You
gotta do something here against the Giants or it's gonna
be a loss. On the reunion of the Super Bowl
(12:48):
fifty team.
Speaker 6 (12:48):
And they're saying all that, saying all the work because
the offense look crap. And I understand Davis can win
your games. Look at Super Bowl fifteen, won your championship
and said you still got score points and the offenses
look pedestrian the best, right, Yeah, I mean pedestri I
mean they scored twenty eight against Cincinnati, but I mean
(13:11):
Cincinnati was, Hey.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
They were on the verge of acquiring Joe Flacco's that's
where they were at.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
That's how bad it was for them. You're down what's
seventeen to three going into the fourth quarter against Philly
and you score eighteen points, amazing, amazing, but you still
only finished with.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
Twenty one, correct, correct, So your.
Speaker 6 (13:30):
Defense really did something special.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
Well, and I don't see the defense slowing down. I mean,
this defense, this isn't afflute.
Speaker 6 (13:38):
But saying all that, I think, if we're being really
how honest right now, did you have them four and two?
Are they not kind of where you are a little
bit above of where we thought they were to start
the season?
Speaker 5 (13:48):
They are. I thought they'd be three and three at
this point, So yes, for me, yes, they're above where
I thought they.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Were going to be.
Speaker 9 (13:54):
Yeah, that's good. Listen, here's what it's going to come
down to this year. Maybe, actually this is the big question.
What's your confidence level that this season, like in twenty fifteen,
the Broncos can win the one score games, and that's
where likely this season is going. And if you feel, hey, man,
(14:16):
you know what, at the end of the day of
the offense, sure, frustrating, but I do have confidence they
will finish and they will win one score games. And
if you do feel like that, you're probably a little
bit optimistic. If you don't feel like that and it's
going to be more like last year when they dropped
all sorts of one score games, then you're probably feeling
a little more. You know, the glass is half empty.
Speaker 6 (14:35):
Three and two in one score games.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
That's good. It's better than the last year year they
were sucked in that.
Speaker 6 (14:39):
You're one and two against five hundred teams.
Speaker 9 (14:43):
But what Sean Payton would tell you is, forget the
records in the NFL. It's all parody anyways, every game
if you watch the red zone, according to Sean Payton,
comes down to like a kick one way.
Speaker 6 (14:52):
Or the other.
Speaker 9 (14:53):
And the degree of how many one score games do
you think we're this this week? I don't even know
off the top of my head. You think more than
half the games were one score? Yes, all right, So
Broncos one score game, Cardinals, Colts one score game, Chargers
Dolphins one score game, Patriots Saints.
Speaker 5 (15:09):
One score game.
Speaker 9 (15:09):
That's four for four, Steelers, Browns, no, Cowboys, Panthers one
score game. That's five, Seahawks, Jaguars, one score game. Six
not Rams, Ravens, not Raiders, Titans, not Bengals, Packers, not Niners, Buccaneers,
not Lions, Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
So so far we got six on the Wow, look
at that?
Speaker 9 (15:33):
Okay, so half the games this week, well, actually, now
you look at Giants, I didn't count Giants Eagles. I
was just looking at Sunday so Giants Eagles. So six
one score game, seven non one score games. So Seawn's
kind of right in more and more than that beat Tampa.
San fran finally lost Fred Warner.
Speaker 6 (15:55):
By the way, what was the final of that one though,
because that was down That was a close game for
most that game.
Speaker 9 (16:00):
That was thirty to nineteen over the forty Bucks over
the forty nine Ers. Bucks might be the best team
in the league with the MVP. Baker Mayfield may be
the MVP of the league, and they may be the
best team in the league right now. They seem to
be the most consistent, that's for sure. And the Niners
are doing a hell of a job. And then now
they lose Fred Warner and they're being held together with
Scotch tape.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
Yeah, so it's amazing what they're doing.
Speaker 9 (16:22):
In terms of other NFL news, we got you covered.
Let's football go with Dan coming up next.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
Oh wow, wow, wow. There's a certain genius to Dan
buds Quints Tanner. Really the way he hears things very subtle.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Is it.
Speaker 9 (16:45):
Thank you to Mountain High Appliance. We love you, Brad
and the gang at Mountain High Appliants. Find them at
Mountain High Appliance dot com. They got everything, washing machines, toasters, ovens.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
It's awesome.
Speaker 9 (16:56):
It's mountin High Appliance, Dan Buds Quints Stander. Let's football
go all.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Right, guys, we've been talking about the offense and their struggles,
but the defense. Yesterday nine sacks for the Broncos. Here's
Sean Payton after the win in London yesterday, asked if
he considers this a defensive team.
Speaker 7 (17:15):
Well, it was a defensive team today and I hope
to consider it a defensive team all season. I mean,
I think in order to win, I think that's extremely
necessary in our league, and they were something.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
So Sean says he would like to consider it a
defensive team all season. But Scott, this kind of goes
to what you were talking about. You know, you gotta
score points to win in the NFL. So how much
of a defensive team do you guys want this to
be throughout the season As far as the Broncos success goes, Well,
give me an all.
Speaker 6 (17:50):
Time great I think that would be fabulous. Will give
me an offense is putting twenty two to twenty four
to twenty six points a game up there somewhere. Give me, guy,
give me a mid twenties offense. You do that, you're
gonna have some run around games to be crazy. I mean,
I mean, I'm sorry. Let me just say this. You
and I haven't talked about this today. Defense is playing good.
(18:12):
Offense is nothing. But you know what that means. Defense
given you a chance win? Yeah, yea yeah, it's also
given your offense is given other teams a chance to win.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
And it makes for some interesting end of games, doesn't it.
Speaker 6 (18:24):
Yeah, your offense is allowing other teams to stay in
games too.
Speaker 9 (18:29):
Listen, you can win a there's there's multiple ways. And
I don't want to be mean to cats for verbod.
There's multiple ways to do it. Let me make sure
it's just harder and not as sustainable to win with
the defense sort of deal. You can do it, though,
(18:49):
you can and and coming up this Sunday, they're gonna
honor the last Broncos team that did it and that
and that is how they did They did it defensively. Okay, However,
why didn't the Broncos go back to the playoffs the
next year? And you'd say, oh, well, they didn't have
a quarterback, which was true, which was weird, but in
(19:10):
all honesty, they lost some key members of their defense.
They did, and we didn't think it was that big
of a deal when Malik Jackson and Danny Travathon left, like,
oh that sucks, we both love both those guys, but.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
We'll be okay.
Speaker 9 (19:22):
Well, actually, no, you weren't okay, Scott, you weren't okay,
and you really felt that sting the next year, not
by a lot. You still had a winning record. They
had a winning record in twenty sixteen, but when you
needed to win that game laid against the Chiefs that
particular year to really go to the playoffs, you didn't
have it. You didn't have what it took. It's hard
(19:44):
to sustain it. It is easier, look at the stupid Chiefs,
by the way, it's easier to rebuild the offenses if
you have the right quarterback.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
So can you win this way?
Speaker 6 (19:54):
Sure?
Speaker 9 (19:55):
And if we have to be a defense, it's all
about winning now anyway. It's just not sustainable. Is not
your guy and the offense doesn't get going. And that's
what we thought we were going to have. We thought
we were going to have this offense and a defense
that was going to be matching up together to be
sustainable for a long period of time. So what we're
finding out what that this is just like the twenty
(20:16):
fifteen team. It's gonna be all nothing this year because
of the defense and just like an offense that's just
barely good enough.
Speaker 6 (20:22):
Well that that team was still won twelve games, right
that that team to the shich team twenty fifteen team,
Oh yeah, because.
Speaker 9 (20:30):
They won eleven games by seven or less points.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
They won eleven.
Speaker 9 (20:35):
Games got by seven or less points, which was unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
So let me throw this out at you. I'm just
giving you some.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Pro because we're not doing that last year.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
I'm gonna give you some twenty fourteen Stats League regular season.
Right they won in twenty fifteen. How many Pro Bowlers
they have on that team?
Speaker 5 (20:53):
The fifteen team or the fourteifteen?
Speaker 6 (20:55):
Well, it's fourteen season.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
It's a fifteen season, sixteen super Bowl. What were we
talking about? The Super Bowl year?
Speaker 9 (21:01):
Let's call the Super Bowl super Bowl year was fifteen
and the Super Bowls one in January of February whatever,
it was twenty sixteen. When you go back to the
year before, if you want when they lost to Indy,
which was and all the coaches left because that was
a weird year. Peyton Manning was hurt, del Rigo and
Fox and everybody was leaving.
Speaker 6 (21:23):
It was weird.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
You needed Gary Kubiak to put that all together.
Speaker 10 (21:28):
By the way, by the.
Speaker 6 (21:29):
Way, you're still twelve and four. Yeah, well it changes.
Twenty fourteen you had eleven Pro Bowlers.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
I believe it. You just didn't have a cohesive team.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
Yeah, and three All Pros. But the year you won it, yeah,
you only have four Pro Bowlers and two All Pros.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
Well, the All Pros had to be Vaughn had to
be one of them.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
Von and Chris Harris.
Speaker 9 (21:51):
Chris Harris was an All Pro that year. Wow, Okay,
I mean you were loaded. You had you know, Darien Stewart,
you had TJ. Ward, you had well Moleaku and Wolf
were great. Gosh, I'm kind of forgetting who your linebackers
were that year. You're inside guys.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
Oh no, you were.
Speaker 9 (22:10):
You were loaded top to bottom. And Zach Allen said
after the game yesterday, Scott, similar to the twenty fifteen team,
our front nine, like the nine guys we got basically
up front are unbelievable, meaning the you know, the them
and the rotating guys like and getting Malcolm roach back
and you're gonna get Drake Greenlaw back.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
So the question is like, how far can you go?
You could probably win it.
Speaker 9 (22:30):
You have a chance to win a Super Bowl with
this defense, you really do.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
It be a shame if it was.
Speaker 9 (22:36):
I'll tell you what a real shame would be if
your special teams keeps playing the way they're playing and
let you down.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
What was the key of that twenty fifteen Super Bowl
sixteen whatever, super Bowl fifty?
Speaker 5 (22:45):
What was the key though to that particular game?
Speaker 6 (22:48):
Sack?
Speaker 5 (22:48):
Oh, sack fumbles, carball score?
Speaker 6 (22:51):
Yeah? And what did you say? The one thing? The
crazy thing this defense hasn't done yet really.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
No takeaway, Yeah, take away suck.
Speaker 9 (22:59):
But the potentials there, I mean, the potential is crazy
being there. And stan almost had one yesterday and they
said it wasn't a football move and I'm like, what's okay?
So it was close, Like that's gonna happen. You can't
get that much pressure on a quarterback.
Speaker 6 (23:14):
I cannot believe they don't have three or four picks.
Speaker 9 (23:16):
How did Justin Fields get sacked nine times? They didn't
fumble at least once, or or felt pressure and didn't
throw an interception or whatever.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
Actually, that's well, you got sack nine times because he
felt pressure and he didn't want to throw an interception.
Somebody's got in his head. Better eat it some hold.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
Down, all right, next Dan?
Speaker 4 (23:34):
All right, guys, we got we got some beef going
on here in the AFC North between the Steelers and
the brown So, by the way, just a quick note
on the Steelers Browns game yesterday. Dylan Gabriel starts fifty
two pass attempts for Dylan Gabriel in their twenty three
to nine lots to the Steelers fifty two times yesterday.
(23:56):
But here's the interesting thing. After the game, Steelers head
coach Mike Tomlin was ripping on Andrew Berry, who is
the GM for the Browns, for their trade of Joe Flacco.
Speaker 11 (24:07):
You know, to be honest, it was shocking to me.
Andrew Berry must be a lot smarter than me or us,
because it doesn't make sense to me to trade a
quarterback that you think enough of to make your opening
day starter to a division opponent that's hurting in that area.
But that's just my personal feelings.
Speaker 10 (24:26):
All right, guys.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
Thoughts on Mike Tomlin being critical of Andrew Berry to
trading their opening day starter inside the division.
Speaker 9 (24:32):
Well, you're the man that presented us with Russell Wilson
and Justin Fields last year the last time I checked
in terms of quarterbacks, So maybe you want to just
keep your trap shut there at Tomlin when it comes
to QB's and mind your own p's and q's. Meanwhile,
their quarterback they're counting on for the Browns as Shan Watson.
That's who they're paying money to, who's getting better and better?
Speaker 5 (24:48):
Joe Flack?
Speaker 10 (24:49):
What is shut up?
Speaker 5 (24:50):
Mike Tomlin? Well, what's he Why is he offering his
two cents on that?
Speaker 6 (24:53):
Anygle?
Speaker 5 (24:54):
What does he care?
Speaker 9 (24:55):
That sounds like he's got like some real personal thing
with Andrew Berry for whatever reason. The dumb criticism by
Mike Tomlin there, just be happy with your win with
your weasel turn quarterback.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
Yeah he should, he shouldn't be.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
What's he talking about?
Speaker 6 (25:11):
Yeah? See when he when Dan for sent it up,
you know what he's talking about? That Stefanski got on him.
That that Stefanski was saying, what are we doing? I mean?
And I'm like thinking that was it, Tomlin. Yeah, hey,
keep keep my our team out of your mouth.
Speaker 9 (25:26):
He must have some personal thing going on with Barry
for some reason.
Speaker 6 (25:29):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
I don't know what the history with those two dudes are.
Speaker 6 (25:32):
Well, maybe he may or maybe Stefanski's his buddy. It
could be and he's protected to fancy.
Speaker 7 (25:37):
Well.
Speaker 9 (25:37):
Yeah, because they didn't shot that, that's a good possibility.
They didn't shot Flaco. The Bengals came to them.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
What you.
Speaker 9 (25:49):
Yeah, I mean, let's what. The Browns are a mess.
The Bengals are a mess. Steelers sadly are playing well
with Rogers is probably gonna play for three more years
for them.
Speaker 6 (26:01):
Probably went a Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (26:06):
I can't stand him.
Speaker 6 (26:08):
I was planning to solve for Stefanski.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
What are you doing here?
Speaker 6 (26:13):
Dan? Bye? This is this is the Cleveland Brown's fan
based theme song right now?
Speaker 9 (26:25):
Have you There's no reason you would And it's just
in my algorithm now because we've looked at some Cleveland
sports talk radio. You know what I'm saying, Like, it's
just popping up. I'm not even looking for it's just
popping up now because I was stupid enough to search
for it a little bit in the first place. But
it is entertaining. I'm not gonna lie listening to.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
Cleveland Radio, they're you know, little snippets of their shows.
You know what.
Speaker 9 (26:48):
This is making me calm down a little bit because,
oh my god, and we were we have been. We
we were last last year.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
Yes, and we're not.
Speaker 9 (26:57):
And I you're making me actually feel a little better
because we we were Cleveland. Yeah, we had no quarterback,
we had no coach, we had no ownership group. We
had our defense wasn't that great with a couple of
good players, like with certain Miles Garrett. You know, youve
got a couple of good players, but like the whole
team's complete garbage and what's so disheartening in the middle
of October? Your season's over. Yeah, we're like really breaking
(27:21):
down that Nuggets preseason game last night. You know in
years past.
Speaker 6 (27:26):
Oh, there's no question about it. We're holding on.
Speaker 9 (27:30):
We're ally breaking down that three to one win from
the Abs over.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
The Savors and be Rolana. So the Abs and Nuggets
are playing pretty good. What caught you guys fired? It's
because the Nuggets le Broncos sucks so bad?
Speaker 10 (27:42):
Oh was that it?
Speaker 6 (27:42):
Yeah? And we're able to just go Nuggets, Nuggets, bab
Man Bright abs Man, and you guys will maybe next week.
You know, you were like the Cups fans over all. Yeah,
you were a while players.
Speaker 9 (27:55):
After fifteen years, I was wondering what it was. Thanks
for that explaining it, Daan.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
Next up, all right, fellas Bo Nixon's adopted brother, TEDZ Johnson.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
He's a baller.
Speaker 10 (28:06):
He is playing great.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
He had the catch of the season so far yesterday
for his first career NFL touchdown. But the funny part
of that was the crowd started chanting m v P,
and Tess got a little confused.
Speaker 5 (28:21):
This is crazy.
Speaker 11 (28:22):
When I score and I hit v m v P chance,
I'm thinking they talking about me, I asked Shep.
Speaker 10 (28:28):
I'm like ship they was chaying m v P and
he was like yeah.
Speaker 8 (28:32):
I was like, I ain't do nothing this year, and
he was like they talking about Baker Tes and was
like I was.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
Like, well that explain.
Speaker 8 (28:39):
But he is the MVP, the one he got the
first down on he was he said, he blacked out.
Speaker 12 (28:43):
But I mean that's just Baker the pump fake get everybody.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
I'm just like, oh my god, he's a dog.
Speaker 10 (28:51):
Is Baker the leading candidate right now.
Speaker 9 (28:52):
Guys for MVP for sure, for sure and Josh Allen
might have something to say.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
What's the quarterback in now?
Speaker 9 (28:58):
Daniel Joe Joes? He ain't he ain't quite there. He's
he's having a great year though. He's probably a pro
bowler right now.
Speaker 6 (29:04):
You're talking about a team that had no expectations.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
He's there, He's in the he's in the room. He's
in the room.
Speaker 6 (29:12):
Baker Mayfield. Though, because we had this conversation, maybe we'll
talk again on Wednesday. Hey, look, you're on TV there,
I am well, and you got a stupid microphone.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Thank you. That microphone is kind of cool. You don't
like that?
Speaker 6 (29:22):
You don't want to see a microphone? You're on TV?
Speaker 5 (29:24):
Alight, can keep going?
Speaker 6 (29:26):
I mean it's great if you're doing one of your
one thousand podcasts for the radio.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
You don't like the microphone on TV?
Speaker 6 (29:32):
You can see? All right?
Speaker 5 (29:34):
All right, you're making me feel lousy.
Speaker 6 (29:36):
Now I'm waiting for you to go. Now the Agriculture
Broadcast ready for ready to come out like less nestsn
more more.
Speaker 5 (29:43):
Music, less nestsmn. Oh, don't get distracted by me on TV?
Speaker 6 (29:49):
I did what were we talking about all right.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
Next story, Dan.
Speaker 10 (29:54):
Is going to be good for the Farmers this year, guys.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
All right.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Lastly, guys, Lions Chiefs last night, there's a fight after
the game. Brian Branch, Juju Smith, Schuster, they get into it.
Here's Dan Campbell after the game on what Brian Branch did.
Speaker 13 (30:12):
I love Brian Branch, but what he did is inexcusable
and it's not going to be accepted here. It's not
what we do. It's not what we're about. I apologize
to Coach Reid and the Chiefs and you know, and shoot,
that's not okay. That's not what we do here, and
it's not going to be okay. He knows it, our
(30:33):
team knows it. And so that's that's that's not what
we do.
Speaker 10 (30:38):
All right.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
So thoughts on the postgame fight there between the Lions
and the Chiefs and did last night's Chiefs win over
the Lions?
Speaker 10 (30:46):
Tell you guys that the Chiefs are are back.
Speaker 9 (30:50):
It was Branch was way out of line. I mean
not a little out of line, way out of line
and it could have caused all sorts of issues for
his teammates.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
And it's it's a sucky situation.
Speaker 9 (31:01):
The game's over, and you got an idiot teammate stern
crap up Scott and what you got to stick up
for your moron teammate because he's got some sort of beef.
Speaker 6 (31:10):
Here's why it just sucks bad. Look right, you said,
coach addressed it.
Speaker 5 (31:19):
We want We're not that.
Speaker 6 (31:20):
We want to We want to see the coaches control
slash power over a locker room. H Coach says that,
first of all, don't forget Dan cam a pretty big boy.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
Oh my god, yeah.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
He's doing those burpies and all that stuff. He said that,
And I don't know if you saw the apology from Branch.
I did not, Oh my gosh, because I saw the
coach first and I went, okay, good, most guys are
pussy footed. Oh. I got a look at the tape.
I don't know really what happened. You know, we'll address
(31:55):
it later. He knew right away. And when he said that,
I'm like, dude, he's already dressed with his team. And
then if you listen to Branch Dan, I don't even
find that he's me a Kobe in the locker room.
That's the guy that got his rse chewed out. And
(32:15):
he came to the media, hat in hand, and you
do not see that. When's the last time we really
seen that in pro sports?
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Not often, not that quickly.
Speaker 6 (32:24):
Especially Yeah, I snapped the his chain and if I
see him in Atlanta, you know, I mean that's we
still have rebellions. I saw a video Branch apologizing and
I mean he and I've seen this one other time.
I saw Vinnie Johnson go off and Chuck Daily in
Cleveland during the game. Chuck just took it. I mean,
(32:46):
he's man and no minimum on the bench, sat down.
We're back at home. The next day he got practice.
We're a meeting before practice, five minutes late, ten minutes late, minutes,
Like Vinny walks out of the closed door meeting with
Chuck and he had that same look that I saw him.
(33:07):
Branch and he came to Lockwrights and Fellas, and I
mean it was had in hand, and I was like, well,
that's when you know that the head guy.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
Yeah is in charge. Yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (33:19):
So if you hear Dan, yeah Campbell say what he said.
He wasn't playing around. Yeah, And then when you hear
Branch afterwards, you go, Okay, he got it.
Speaker 9 (33:29):
I'll give you a juxtapost Tua ripping on leadership on
his team. Players leaders are not showing up for players
only meeting or late or whatever he.
Speaker 6 (33:42):
Said later, not showing up at all.
Speaker 9 (33:44):
Yeah, and that's a team. And as much as we
like Mike McDaniel, that's why you fire Mike McDaniel. Well,
like you, you've clearly lost control of your team, obviously, But.
Speaker 6 (33:53):
It also shows you what kind of leaders do you
really have in charge? Fine?
Speaker 9 (33:56):
Whatever, I mean, sometimes it's not always your fault, like,
but you gotta go like and you probably gotta get
got to get rid of some of your leaders on
that team too, But the coach still gotta go.
Speaker 6 (34:07):
You got rid of one Tyreek Hill.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
Oh well, injury did it. But they're still an Epitomis.
Speaker 6 (34:13):
That a competitive game until the last they lost? I
think it's the second game they've lost this year in
the last two minutes.
Speaker 9 (34:19):
It's a fine line between clever and stupid, as they
said in spinal Tap, And that's the that's the NFL.
Speaker 5 (34:24):
That's one goes to eleven Prime.
Speaker 9 (34:27):
Remember that one prime Prime had the funniest great win
by SeeU by the way over the weekend.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
Great win.
Speaker 9 (34:33):
And we get to the classic question of rush the
field or not rush the field and Prime didn't know
something that is still a little astonishing that it exists.
Details and you'll hear that coming.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
Up next played this one too?
Speaker 11 (34:50):
Was this?
Speaker 9 (34:51):
What was the best Paul McCartney song, if you can?
I mean all of them are probably great.
Speaker 6 (34:56):
Was the moment.
Speaker 5 (34:59):
When does he do that concert?
Speaker 6 (35:01):
Probably about two thirds through you Jude?
Speaker 10 (35:05):
Huh no, wow.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
The the closing before the h the encore was like.
Speaker 5 (35:12):
Oh, that was Hate Jude and they go off.
Speaker 6 (35:14):
The So there was two or three other songs. In fact,
there was another banging song. Then all of a sudden
there was like a ten minute fireworks show when they
were jamming to it. I mean there was a fireworks
show going off of Coors Field.
Speaker 9 (35:27):
Can you imagine how good you are that you you
have Hate Jude in your back pocket and you don't
close with it?
Speaker 6 (35:33):
What's what's Verry Faye?
Speaker 5 (35:35):
Parry Faye going back, very.
Speaker 6 (35:38):
Faint who brought the Rolling Stones.
Speaker 5 (35:40):
Here and famous band promoter.
Speaker 6 (35:42):
Yeah, one of one of the biggest in the country
for a while. I while he was amazing, he was
the king. So I was talking to Barry talking about
a guy that could drop names. You know, he would
drop you know, Rolling Stones names and Mick. You know,
I was talking to Mick last week and he was
doing this whole time. So what's the guy to leave? Bono?
(36:03):
He's going, he said, I was talking to Bono a
couple of weeks ago. He goes, he goes, give me
your top three. He goes, the Beatles at the top.
Then you've got Zeppelin and the Stones too, and then
everybody else is following, fighting for that next tier of
the pyramid. Soos go, what about us? Why would you?
Speaker 11 (36:26):
What?
Speaker 6 (36:26):
Why we no one? We've got this new hits.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
Where he goes, is that your Irish accent?
Speaker 6 (36:30):
By the way, No, I wouldn't try to do it.
He's sent there arguing why not you too? And Barry
and I Barry stopped the interview or the conversation because
you don't have a Hey, Jude, So if you never
got a chance to meet Barry, and I love Barry
to death, but but Barry's Tom Bono. No, you're not.
You'll never be number one band because.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Where the streets have no name is no, hey, Jude,
you don't have your hatere with or without you, isn't hey? Jude,
you don't have your hat one isn't Hey, Jude.
Speaker 6 (36:56):
You don't have your hate Jude.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
I guess not. I got some good ones, though they be,
They're good.
Speaker 6 (37:02):
All right?
Speaker 9 (37:03):
Well, Nate Andy coming up. Can't wait to hear their
perspective on everything.
Speaker 6 (37:07):
You know what else? We hadn't talked about about this
game from Sunday? Sure what hey? In fact I heard
somebody do a bit on it. You said, imagine if
you paid all them pounds to go to the the
game last night? You go, hell, yeah, it totally costs.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
You know, can you imagine three hundred quid we can go?
Speaker 6 (37:24):
And then he said, then you saw that game, Oh
my lord, we'll be making fun of it, which is true.
But did you see the number of Bronco fans? Uh?
Speaker 9 (37:32):
They dom There was a lot of talk about that
after the game, well a lot of time.
Speaker 6 (37:35):
That was cool.
Speaker 9 (37:36):
Yeah, And technically it was a home game for the Jets.
And this is another one where really goes in the
Broncos favor because you know what was weird.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
I'll give you a weird moment. Do you know who
the PA announcer was for the game? Coach Alan Roach?
You had to Jet it up because it was a
home game for the Jets, so he had to be
like all excited for the Jets and it was our boy.
Speaker 6 (37:54):
Roach.
Speaker 9 (37:55):
Oh how about that for a weird little twist, that
would be funny to get Alan on the phone maybe
sometime this week and just be like, dude, how is
that now? If you don't know this, of course, Alan's
been the most famous PA.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
He's been on the airport training system for you. Ever,
he is.
Speaker 9 (38:14):
The p announcer for the Vikings because he's from Minnesota, right,
and Connor mcgahey does it for the most part for
our games. He just loves the Vikings because that's who
he is. But he loves the Broncos. He lives here
in Colorado, he has for years and years and years.
He just flies off to Minnesota when they have a
home game to do that because he's just a Vikings
guy and he works for the NFL, but essentially he
(38:34):
is a Broncos fan.
Speaker 6 (38:35):
He also the NHL All Star Games always flies him
in for the NHL Games.
Speaker 9 (38:40):
My guess is that, oh at the Olympics he works.
Speaker 5 (38:44):
My guess is Roach will just simply say, uh, Scott
d mac I can't even do it. You know, I
can root for whoever pays me. I mean, I'm gonna
I'm gonna guess it's something like that.
Speaker 6 (38:54):
I gotta tell you funny story. So I'm one of
the years. He did it multiple but it was Roach, Dave,
Roach and I. Roach was the sideline David and I
and David usually go home. So Roach and I'm gonna
go out and back when I tipped a few. I
love Jack Daniels. But we go into Green Bay and
(39:19):
we do. He's a Minnesota fans silioid bust is hump
and you know, blah blah blah, and we're we're in
green Bay, Minnesota. He's wearing his Minnesota Vikings jersey under
his clothes, calling the game because if the Vikings win
the game something, they win the division.
Speaker 5 (39:38):
Or what whatever.
Speaker 6 (39:40):
So and he's going to pop it out to walk
into the you know, walk in underneath, and he's going
to be showing that Vikings jersey. Vikings blow a game,
give it away. I think it was. Jake Plumber comes
back and beats Minnesota late late in the fourth quarter,
shuts the door of Minnesota. We get in and we
do our things in the locker room. We do all
(40:01):
the interviews. He and I are back and forth. Yeah,
he's still pissed. Now everybody's leaving. He goes, stupid Vikings.
I'm never cheering for the Vikings again, takes the jersey off.
This is the lambo field. Yeah, takes off his clothes,
takes his jersey off, and the locker room is visiting.
The locker room sucked. They were basically these these wood
cabinets that were nailed to the wall, little bit of gap.
(40:22):
He took that Vikings jersey stuffed it down behind behind
one of the lockers, down to Floridios. So we'll see
if I can get some bad luck to this place,
you know. So he left his Vikings jersey.
Speaker 5 (40:36):
So likely it's still there unless they've renovated the locker.
Speaker 6 (40:40):
But can you imagine somebody renovated the locker room, opened
it up, twil the lockers out and said, what's the
Viking jersey doing down here? Yeah? I can get roach.
Talk about that one.
Speaker 10 (40:50):
It's the best.
Speaker 5 (40:50):
Yeah, maybe roach.
Speaker 9 (40:51):
We're getting grab roachs at some point, see you buffs,
it's awesome.
Speaker 6 (40:58):
Twenty four to seventeen could win.
Speaker 9 (41:00):
Salter was garbage and then he was great blown coverage
helped him a lot, and they finished, They put their.
Speaker 6 (41:07):
Foot he did have interceptions.
Speaker 9 (41:10):
He straightened himself out, and good for Prime. I just
felt that this week with everything Prime was going to
and and and again.
Speaker 5 (41:17):
They're a good team. They are a good team.
Speaker 9 (41:19):
But it gets to the ethical dilemma of running on
the field.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
Okay, So here's what Prime had to say about it.
Speaker 6 (41:26):
I love it.
Speaker 12 (41:27):
I love it as long as we control our you know,
we don't want to do nothing stupid.
Speaker 6 (41:33):
I mean, I think we got the field goal thing
that lets down. Now, what you're.
Speaker 12 (41:37):
Gonna do with the field goal? You tear it down anyway?
You know, what are you gonna do with it? You know,
put it in your front ard of your fret house.
Speaker 9 (41:43):
So he likes it, but then he finds out Scott,
it's take one.
Speaker 6 (41:46):
Hundred thousand dollar finders fifty fifty thousand fifty? Is it
a fine for rushing the field? What is it fifty
for rushing the field?
Speaker 1 (42:00):
Are they down a rush in the field?
Speaker 2 (42:02):
Who made that a rule?
Speaker 6 (42:05):
Excuse me? Come on, man, that ain't right. I mean,
these kids all.
Speaker 9 (42:13):
Right, So he goes on, I can't believe that it's
fifty grand. So it's a couple of things. First of all,
what do you think about a fifty thousand dollars fine
for rushing the field? I don't even know why it
is a fine because.
Speaker 6 (42:23):
Some girl got knocked down one time.
Speaker 5 (42:25):
Oh you think it's a liability.
Speaker 6 (42:27):
It's a liability.
Speaker 5 (42:28):
Oh, you're probably right.
Speaker 6 (42:29):
For the teams. And because when when it happens you
get hurt, they're going to sue the team and sue
the league.
Speaker 9 (42:34):
Okay, what about rushing the field? Was that game worthy?
Enough of rushing the field? And where are you at
with rushing the field?
Speaker 6 (42:44):
I was part of one rush in the field as
a college ute.
Speaker 10 (42:49):
We were playing You went to Utah.
Speaker 6 (42:51):
I thought you went to Targets. So yeah, as a
ute these two utes? Yeah no, these two utes? Utes?
Speaker 11 (42:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (42:59):
Utes, young people. We're playing Texas, who was our big rival.
Texas had just beaten OU the week before in the Red.
Speaker 5 (43:10):
River whatever you're about to tell me. It was a
really big game.
Speaker 6 (43:13):
They were number one in the country, Okay, and we
pounded them.
Speaker 5 (43:16):
This was beating the twenty second ranked team in the country.
Speaker 6 (43:20):
That's a non run the field moment.
Speaker 9 (43:22):
It's only the second win that Prime has had against
a ranked opponent.
Speaker 6 (43:26):
Though, Yeah, but the other one was in Texas, So.
Speaker 5 (43:28):
The other one was in Texas.
Speaker 9 (43:30):
No, I do believe they rushed the field after the
Baylor game as well. Last year when that that crazy hell,
Mary sort of said that was at least exciting,
