his eyes when a former player comes on and only
addresses me and not him, And it's just like you know,
I'm here too, So I'll put it in the best
easiest perspective for your two wheelhouses. You're a baseball guy,
d Mac. You coach baseball, You manage baseball, you ran

baseball club, yes, and you hear in baseball when somebody
is in between, it's the worst spot they can be
the way, yep, whether that's in the banner's box, whether
that's you know, on the ground ball at third base.
You just don't want to be in between on the
pick and roll. Mister Hastings, you tell me you want
to be in between on a pick and roll or

do you want it to be very clear, very concise,
so you can pick and roll with great conviction and
you know and you trust your partner in that action.
When I watched both through the preseason, I wasn't privy
getting out there in training camp because coach Sanford has
got us on lockdown over here at Dallas, so I
couldn't escape and go watch any of him in camps.

But what I've seen the preseason and enough in the
regular season, and it's on in a little bit of
contrast to the second half of last year, he and
that offense feel in between.

head shots, including in the Lost and in Indian particular,
but also in the Chargers game, that he's got guys
wide open and they're they're down the field, but he

That being said, I don't feel like Sean Payne's had
a clear and precise here's who we are and what
we want to do decision making.

I think that's fair. I think their running game is
very indicative of that. You know, you'll hear coach Stanford
all over your station, rightfully, so kind of talk about
what are you in your run game? You can't be
a master of everything, You just can't. You don't have
personnel to do it. You don't have practice time to
do it. You don't have the same kind of offensive
line than that you did back in the in the

day with Shanahan. And they're all two hundred ninety two
ninety five athletic, I mean that's what they were. So
they were an outside zone team. They did that. This
is a kind of a mismatch.

You know, you got some big power guys, your tackle,
your guard it's injured. You got some more movement guys.
You got somebody in between. So are you a zone team?
Are you a power team? Are you an inside zone
outside zone? Are you a duo team?

belief and I think it's been reinforced honestly working with
coach Sanford this football season, Like you can't do all

of fresh air to watch Clint Kubiak come in and
honest to god, it looks like the nineteen nineties. Some
of the plays were the same dropback action we ran.
You know, they're trying to and it's fits and starts.
It's not great, but they're fits in the league and
rushing attempts. They've got to stick to itiveness to it,
and off of it comes everything through your protection, your

play action, you're mirroring, you're sequencing, you're doing all of it.
And yeah, I just don't see the Broncos offensively putting
it together right now, all.

Right, when you say you're stuck in between? So just
playing off that premise, is that more about your head,
your hips or your feet?

in the NFL at quarterback is Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold,

You watch those guys play and their eyes in their
feet are a line it's boom, it's boom, it's boom,

not there. Then I'm gonna step up and I'm gonna move,

I remember talking to you guys before the draft. I
watched him at orgon his last year. We did two
or three of his games, and he was phenomenal in
that way. But they ran it. They knew who they were,
they played off of it. They were urpo, and he

was tied together. And yeah, it's hard to say that
he's as tied together the whole thing as is tied together.
Is it certainly wasn't Oregon. And again, even in the
second half of last season.

If you're running more rpo, and like you said, at
Oregon is naturally bo just better. If he's just moving period,
and that's where you're stuck a little bit too, you're
not moving as much.

Possibly, Yeah, I think that that's possible. He has got
man some fricking tremendous legs. I mean, he is a
you guys have seen him in person. He is a
well built dude. Is he his wife and strength coach
at Valors. She's got him work in those squads and
lunges and cleans and now they're getting ready for a baby.
And that dude is he is really strong and really

powerful in his base Elway was the same way. I
mean he was so I remember watching him growing up,
and you know, like it's just his whole power source
and he just stuck his foot in the ground. He
was kind of knock kneed and pigeon toad. But man,
that's where the power comes from. You know that in baseball,
when you're hitting, your power comes from the ground, right,
you know you know that when you're pitching, your power

comes from the ground, that ground force. And yeah, I
think there's some elements again if just you know, if
just fundamentally and mentally and just what are we that
still is very much a work in properity.

Well is of certainly Davis Webb's quarterback coach knows all this, right.
I mean they're going over relentless amount of tape. So
that's where I wonder, I mean, I'm sure they're going
over it. Is there some sort of confusion then you
think between how Sean views things as an ex quarterback no, No,

I don't think so. I mean his guy in New Orleans.
Now you want to talk about a base in fundamentals,
and you know Drew was a little bit wider in
his stance and the underrated athlete when he was younger.
Guy like he was a seven foot high jumper. I
mean he created power from the ground and he was
really good at it. So Sean knows the position scheme

that I think. The frustration that I feel in the
market from just about everybody is that man. It was
a sending in the second half of last season. You know,
he was hitting those deep shots, even was it the
first possession in the playoff game against the Bill. You're
just hitting those things, and why are we not hitting
these things? Now? Why is this not coming together? They are,

They are striving and searching for those answers. They are
working towards that. In my humble opinion, I think when
they figure out what they want to be in their
run game, then comes the play action game, Then comes
the guineas, then comes the shots. Then it kind of
the pieces of the puzzle come together a whole lot
more clearly.

Well, and just tell you what you're saying right here,
Brock is your base. You know it's not a chicken
or the egg thing. Our arm strength didn't just come,
Oh look at he's upper body. He's built the real
chicken or the real egg. However you want to look
at first, is the base. And to me on a
handful of those strolls earlier in the season, because we
really haven't seen a lot of deep looks lately, but

the misses early in the season, I think he completed
one out of his first five and one of those
who were intercepted over twenty yards.

There's no base to it, and so it's it's all

With your arm, and again I just go. It's been
really fun to watch for us. The Seattle market made
a move and Gino was a really productive player as
far as yards and everything and come back player of

his best was behind them, much like they did with Russell.
They looked at twenty seven, twenty eight year old Sam Donald.

They saw him last year in Minnesota and you could
see it. And now they are so committed to it.
They don't do a million things. They're doing their ten

set and that ball is out and it's on time
and he's on balance. Sam Donald is the most accurate

you see tremendous balance. He finishes this throw and he's
