Speaker 4 (00:36):
Oh, it's already happening. What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (00:39):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
It's gonna be Seriously, we're gonna have one of those

Speaker 5 (00:45):
Yeah, whose idea it was?
Speaker 3 (00:47):

Speaker 4 (01:00):
You can't even get it right now? You got ABC.
ABC's in your head?
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Yeah, because it's after school Special.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Even people from Arkansas can remember ABC.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
That's all I hear.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Dray green Law's back. Here is Sean Payton about Dray green.
Speaker 7 (01:18):
Lawawok today and what are your thoughts on his status
moving forward.
Speaker 8 (01:22):
Yeah, he practiced today.
Speaker 6 (01:24):
It was good coach.
Speaker 8 (01:26):
What what when Cray green Law does play?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
What does he does?
Speaker 8 (01:30):
These are the hypotheticals, right, I love him, you know, No,
I can't say anything about injury.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
He's to be practiced today.
Speaker 8 (01:38):
He practiced today. He's been working out like he's been rehabbing,
and uh, today was good day.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Next question, next question.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Do you like Sean like that?
Speaker 5 (01:50):
I don't mind it.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
I don't, Sean.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
I mean I don't mind. You seem to mind it
a lot. Whatever. We've got guys to get up there
and get spicy like Bothers you when Bo Nicks does
it for whatever reason. I like when guys get up there.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Sure, no, I don't. I think it's kind of fun. Actually,
I don't mind spicy Sean like that.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
Bo bothers you thought.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
Doesn't even say anything. See Bo yesterday he said like
this is like a donut talking.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Sean Payton is a scorpion riding on the frog's back.
You know, eventually across that river, sometime he's going to
sting him. It may not happen. This press conference is
I'm like.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
Hey boy, I told you six months ago I was
gonna answer this question.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
It's going to happen. The sting is happening.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
What do you think their relationship is with Bo and Sean?
Right now?
Speaker 5 (02:35):
I don't have any reason to think it's bad. Who
you guys were talking about this when I was gone,
I think, but I what what evidence do we have
of a bad relationship?
Speaker 6 (02:48):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Poor offensive performance on the field right now? Bo was
asked yesterday do you bring plays or do you what
do you suggest to Sean? And if you can find that? Dan,
I forget what cut it is, but he was very
HEAs it in about like, well maybe sometimes maybe not
that sort of thing. But I don't know how common
that is in the NFL. I don't know how common
it is for quarterbacks to really go into a coach
(03:11):
and be like, here you go. We famously know that
Belichick and Tom Brady used to meet on their own
because it was in the documentary.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
All coaches and quarterbacks are going to do that. So
every play caller in quarterback is going to meet one
on one. They're going to have conversations, Hey, what do
you like on third and long? What do you like
on third and medium? More times than not with a
young quarterback. It's not a young quarterback going in there
and being like, Hey, here's a list of plays that I,
after studying film, I really like. It's more so, Hey,
(03:37):
coach has already given me what he wants to put
in this week, and I'm going to highlight of three
or four that I really like.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
And I think bo wants to feel his oats and
he's not being able to feel his oats yet.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
All right, what what gives you that impression?
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Well, let me ask you what was Dan Reeves and
John elways relationship not good? When did we learn that?
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I don't know yet.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
When did we learn that? And how long into the
relationship do we learn.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
That's a such a good question, because I don't know
the answer. I'm gonna guess it probably took the failed
Super Bowl before it really went south. But I'll tell
you this. I watched that Cowboys documentary. Troy Aikman was
actively trying to get Barry Switzer fired when Barry Switzer
was there. So even if a team is having success,
it doesn't necessarily mean the quarterback and the coach are
(04:23):
getting a long Nows are a great example too.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Aikman and Oklahoma won a national championship. Right, they won
a national championship, and then he still transferred out. I
think what the UCLA was the UCLA where I think
you did. I don't remember if there's natal championship. I
thought I read in Troy Iggman's bio that he won
a national championship, knowing what I could think of it
would be with Oklahoma.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
Wow, that's pretty nuts.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Yeah, all right, here's Tommy Maddox was drafted in nineteen
ninety two. Elway was drafted, well traded eighty three. So my, yeah,
sometime before that ninety two draft things were bad. But
but but are we not sure that a couple of
Super Bowls that we weren't sure that wasn't bad in
(05:09):
the in the mid eighties, that just that you know,
you had regular season success, you got to three super Bowls. Well,
that's a remarkable amount of success together to have a
bad relationship. I mean, if you go from eighty three
to ninety two, I mean, all right, guys, Bronco history here,
what were the years of the Super Bowl with reeves
in Lway?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Eighty four, eighty five, eighty eight.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Okay, so all before ninety two, I believe all before
ninety two. Well, I don't know, man, I mean, where
did it go south with those two? I mean, you're
still with the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
The point being, by the time Atlanta and and and
Denver played in that one super Bowl, super Bowl thirty three,
everybody knew that Reeves in Elway had a crappy relationship.
All right, so we're going and they coach he coached
him for eight nine years. How soon in that relationship
did we did? We ever? Learned during that time that
him and Reeves were sideways before the time we met.
(06:04):
Because when that happened, we knew there was some stuff
going on.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
And if you had any doubts about it, drafting Tommy
Maddock would certainly be a you know, here we go.
I mean, certainly you knew then. That's a good question.
Here is bo yesterday about the whole like taking place
of the coaches thing.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
Yeah, I think I got to pick my spots.
Speaker 9 (06:21):
And definitely, you know, I mean they've been doing this
for a long time. They know how to game plan,
and you know sometimes I'm sure I haven't been a
coach yet, but I'm sure it's irritating if you know
your your quarterbacks just continuously brings you plays. So I
just try to, you know, pick my spots and make
sure I can back it up with the film that
I'm watching. And it's not just the play that I
like because I've ripped it before and it's cool play,
(06:42):
but you know, it's got to be able to fit
with what we do and got to fit against, you know,
what the opposing team is doing. So usually it just
goes with a film study, you know, just kind of
look at certain plays what we're doing, see how we
can find plays that we like off of plays that
we're already doing, and you know, so I just don't
necessarily push them. But but you know, definitely, every once
in a while, I'll have something that hey, I remember
(07:03):
this was in You think we can put this back
in or something, and they're very receptive to it. Usually
you know what happens, But I usually definitely don't want
to be too pushy.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Okay, do you think Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Josh Allen
do you think they picked their spots?
Speaker 5 (07:20):
And you're well, ask the question differently in year two,
I don't know, because we can't compare him to dudes
that are in year ten, twelve, fifteen.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Do you think Peyton Manning was shy in year two?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Eric Gordon still wasn't playing in year two. I'm not
air going Aaron Rodgers Rogers still wasn't even play it.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
But Peyton Manning do you think he was hesitant in
year two?
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I think yes.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
I mean, if you were to compare and contrast where
he was in control of everything by years six, seven
and eight, I'm sure it was radically different.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
How about the fact that bo actually is admitting right there,
I gotta watch myself a little bit. What do you
think that says? Do you think that's just natural he's
a young player.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
I think he does.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Yeah, I mean, honestly, all I hear that is I'm
still a young dude, and and it's it's probably not
my role yet.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yeah, and I heard that it might not be my role.
But he ain't gonna listen to me anyway.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
I hear a little frustration And what's the point of
me doing this? Because you guys are too.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
Much into that. Wait, where do you hear that?
Speaker 3 (08:19):
I mean, because we don't want to give our sources
on there.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
We'll talk okay, Yeah, yeah, you got sources on it.
You guys are reading between the lines.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
We have sources, Oh, I'm definitely I do. I don't,
Scott me. I don't have sources on that. But I'm
reading between some serious lines here. Yes, well, yes.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
I mean sometimes I think it's clear it's easy to
read between the lines. I don't. I just don't see
it on that one. I hear that as a dude
that I'm in here. Two man, I'm just trying to
figure this thing out.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Do you know what I read this today? This is
gonna be crazy. Justin Fields has the higher highest in
the pocket passing rate of any quarterback.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
We here we go.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
What I'm just saying, they're not utilizing him the way
they should be utilizing him and is failing miserably.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Well, they're not.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Do you think they're utilizing Bonix the best way they
can right now? Seriously? Or do you think they've got
an idea of offense and they want him to fit
into their idea.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
Well, let me let me ask you this before I
answer the question. What's the best way to utilize Bonex?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Get them moving more?
Speaker 5 (09:23):
Okay, Well, go back and watch the Jets game and
you're gonna see in the first quarter they ran about
six or seven naked bootlegs and variations off naked bootleg
that is not a traditional naked So they got him
out on the run six or seven times within the
first quarter. So how do you feel about they answer
to that they ran, were well played defensively? They were,
(09:44):
they were that they were calling the plays. I mean,
I watched the film again last night, and I was
actually surprised. There was actually a lot of decent stuff
on the offensive side within the first quarter in particular,
but the first half there were some really productive plays.
As a matter of fact, I looked it like, you
know what, Sean was calling plays beautifully for his quarterback, Sean.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Nobody gives up it changed. Nobody gives up on an
offensive game plan quicker than the Denver Broncos coaching staff.
And as a little bit of proof, Sean Payne has
forced himself to right run it on his call sheet
so he won't forget it, so he won't get off
of it. So I don't know what to say about that.
I think they feel things are icky and they move
off from it, and I don't know, I don't you
(10:25):
think this offense is suiting bo Nix right now? It
doesn't look like it that's for sure, unless you just
think he's you know, hey, man, this ain't going anywhere
with this guy. Nice kid and all, but this ain't
it okay. I sense there's frustration that he's got with
what's going on now.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Now.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Whether or not that frustration is justified, I don't know
who knows, but I think he just told you right
there that I'm hesitant to bring things.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Up or I'm respectful of my roll.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
What's the difference.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
I think there's a big difference when you've earned the
right to bring things up, when you've earned the right
to tell a coach what you want to run.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Jersey, he sure does. Does that kind of signify a right?
Speaker 5 (11:05):
No, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
It means a lot of something different than when I.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
Mean, certainly, it gives you a right to have open
dialogue with a coach, yes, Does he give him the
right to dictate or go in there with a game
plan that is counter to what Sean wants to run,
I'd say no. So what's a fair expectation then, Well,
a fair expectation for me would be by years four
and five. Now, all of a sudden, I've got a
(11:32):
lot more, say.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Well, years four and five. That means you've already paid
him seventy million.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Dollars a year.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
Heay, and that's about right. Is that the guy to
finances not usually dictate those sort of things.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
I would think it would go a long way once
you're making seventy million dollars, exactly right. I'm sure there
was a moment when that How many years did.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Take Andy Reid to listen?
Speaker 4 (11:49):
So you're great, Homes, that's a great question.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
Don't know.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Fun question though, because they were winning super Bowls when
he was still getting rookie salaried.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Well, they were doing great with Alex Smith's quarterback when
Pat Mahomes was sitting on the bench. I mean, they
weren't winning championships, but they were a good team last.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Year, like Smith played. They didn't make the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Oh, I think they did. I believe they did. Yeah,
because the Homes started against the Broncos. That was like
a throwaway games the team. Yeah, no, I think that.
I don't know what they did in the players they
made the playoffs then, I don't know. That's a great question.
At what point did was Tom Brady a little bit
more honest with Bill Belichick about what he wanted but again,
in fairness to Bo Brady sat on the bench his
(12:30):
rookie year.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Here's all some difference with Tom Brady. One Tom could
bring him stuff and Bill, as a defensive guy, could go,
let me tell you how I beat you. And now
that's gonna be a good dialogue. Yeah, problem with with
bo Bow's gonna bring you offense to a guy that
everybody's coined offensive gem.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
Can I just say this? Also, I don't think bo
Nix is ready to know what plays are good and
not so, so he probably knows that also, like I'm
just learning this sucker, So is it surprising to me?
I don't think he's offended. I don't think he's mad.
He's looking at this like I don't know. Well, you
tell me, you're the coach. You tell me what I'm
supposed to run.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
All right, Well we'll go deeper when we get back
with let's football, go coughtor McGahee in about a half
hour from Columbus previewing the Abs back in action after
a couple of days off. It's PhD here on ninety
two five. Uh, you know what it is?
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Now?
Speaker 4 (13:28):
Nobody goes to the cash ros sir. Everybody just scans it.
So how do you scan a piece of paper that
has no barcode on it?
Speaker 5 (13:33):
Like look up item? You could do that.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
You could do that.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
That's how you would have to do it, even if
the donut was there.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
Yeah, you're probably right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, nobody's doing that,
that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
All right.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Before we get into this, brought to you about Mountain
High Appliance and I know Daniel rad to rock and roll.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Mountain High Appliance the absolute best. When did the no
Fly Zone end? Because somebody just sent me a photo.
It's Mile High magazine and they do great artwork and
they've got a photo of the night the no fly
zone previewing the uh twenty seventeen season. Oh yeah, no,
(14:15):
that's not no fly When did the no fly Zone end?
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Somebody just told Miles Sports magazine. Hey, by the way, what.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Did the no fly zone?
Speaker 3 (14:25):
It ended after the sixteenth.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
After the sixteen season.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
We gave him a little courtesy for sixteen, but it
was not the same.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Would you agree with that, Tyler?
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Because Malik Jackson was gone?
Speaker 5 (14:35):
Shut up?
Speaker 4 (14:35):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Would Marcus Ware was hurt? Mostly years? Does it well?
Speaker 5 (14:40):
But who was everyone was still here? In twenty sixteen.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
No, they were not. Who is not well, TJ. Ward
wasn't here. But he wasn't here, not in twenty sixteen.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
He wasn't.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
Yes, he was because he got he was here with Vans.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Did he get traded? He got traded. He got traded
with VJ. You're right, is Justin Simmons part.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Of the no zone? No?
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Not, hell, no he was.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
He was.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
I don't mean to say it like that, like Justin
isn't good enough. Justin's bloody good enough to be in
the no fly zone, but he is not a part
of the no fly zone.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Okay, because this photo for Mile High Sport says Justin
Simmons no fly zone is part of it. But TJ's gone.
TJ is gone by before twenty seventeen.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
No, that was just trying to hold on and to
see if they can still t shirts.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
So the next year when Justin Simmons was on the team,
he's not part of the no fly He won't be.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
No, definitely not.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
So the no fly zone ended after the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
Well, I thought twenty sixteen they were all still.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
There, except that's when they traded Ward.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Ward got traded.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
I believe he got released, by the way, didn't.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
Yeah, actually he got it. Actually he was there the
whole twenty sixteen season. It was because, yeah, he got
dumped with VJ. Well Stuart, Stuart I think was still there,
but you added you added Justin Simmons in like Justin
Simmons became part of the team. He was a rookie
in sixteen.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Well, here's why I wouldn't the no fly zone because
DeMarcus Ware was hurting most of the year and Malik
Jackson had already taken a free agency to Jacksonville, so
that the no fly zone ended. When all of a
sudden you started losing all those pass rushers.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Let's go Dan, Let's football.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Go all right, gout.
Speaker 10 (16:17):
Sean Payton was asked yesterday if he believes in the
old adage that up tempo offense helps lessen penalties.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Here's what he had to say.
Speaker 8 (16:26):
I'm not That's not the reason we're in tempo to
settle penalties down. I think penalties come from Look, we've
got to obviously be more disciplined, more focused, but I
think it can calm down what you're seeing sometimes defensively.
But I've never heard or thought about it calming down penalties.
Speaker 10 (16:48):
What is the best strategy to use an up tempo
offense because you don't want to do it all the time.
So when is the best spots to run the uptempo
offense to have it be most effective?
Speaker 5 (17:01):
Uh well, I mean it depends on who your quarterback is.
Sometimes you love doing it all the time. I mean
Peyton Manning wants to do it all the time, although
he really wasn't up tempo. He was on the ball,
which is a difference. Like Peyton Manning, he'd be at
the line of scrimmage and use the entire play clock
even though they didn't actually huddle, not.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
To keep the defense from being able to substitute, right.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
Yeah, yeah, and gives them plenty of time to audible
and all those sorts of things. I don't know, man,
I mean, everybody looks at two minute offense, they're like, well,
why don't you do that all the time. It because
it's a different type of defense that you're looking at.
Of course it's gonna look different. I think for Bo Nicks,
the best way to utilize it with him is not
(17:40):
necessarily stay on the ball for an entire drive. But
every other series say hey, Bo, we're gonna call two plays. Okay,
so here's our first play. Then you're gonna stay on
the ball, and then there there's our second play. And
it's not even giving bo the freedom of the line
of scrimmage to do what he wants. You're predetermining it
for him. You're telling him what to do, and then
just toss it a few off tipical plays here and there.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Well are the program that follows us ABC because they
always be closing. There's Andy and basically they they talked
about yesterday the one touchdown drive they had was in
a no huddle, was more of a hurry up offense. Yeah,
so I think that where this is all stemming from.
(18:26):
The only touchdowns scored in the game last weekend was
when you came out straight to the line of scrimmage.
And I don't know if they snapped it quick or
anything like that, or did more like what you said,
get the play call in, you know, be able to
pick the defense up.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
I can tell what's going on. Everybody's nervous. That is,
this offense doesn't really snap out of it right, get
to attention. You're gonna waste an unbelievable defense and it's
just not so This is all based on incredible potential
and high hopes. By the way, so it's again, as
Nate Crekman would say, that game was awesome, look at
the defense, but you just don't want to spoil it.
(18:59):
I'm actually a little bit more paranoid that something dumb
will happen on special teams then the offense is going
to produce. I'm actually a little bit more paranoid about
that this week, but Sean wasn't asking soll.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
The good thing is you'll only have to you know,
maybe cover one like last week, two entire returns, right,
you know, start the game and then you're one touchdown.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
You would you guys just do that one touchdown?
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Yeah, yeah, you're not gonna have to worry about no
field goals, We're not. Would you guys just kick it
through the end zone at this point? No, no yet,
not yet. It's close, though, I'm telling you it's close.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Well, they're giving up to thirty two is what they've
real quick, Dan, I don't mean to steal your thunder
if you've got this, But we do have a little
update on Drake greenlat Vance Joseph said whether inside linebacker
Drake greenlaw returns to play in game this week or
next week, so they have not officially announced whether he's
gonna play in either one. It will be in a
limited role, whether it's this week or next week.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Pitch count then whatever he's going to do in the beginning, Yeah,
that sounds smart. Next story, Dan, all.
Speaker 10 (20:00):
Right, let's hear from Nick Benito and Jonathan.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Cooper, Nick part of the ABC Dynasty.
Speaker 10 (20:05):
That's right, Nick, The Orange Rush, The Orange Rush. Nick
Rothschild from Channel seven was in the Broncos locker room
yesterday and he asked these guys to describe Cam Skataboo's
rushing style.
Speaker 5 (20:19):
How can you describe Cam Scataboo's running style after watching
it on film?
Speaker 6 (20:23):
What crazy as hell?
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Man?
Speaker 6 (20:25):
He just be trying to run everybody over.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
And it's not just DB's lined by his d tackles too,
So man, you got get him crazy.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
He's a tough guy.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
John, after watching film, what can you or how can
you describe Cam Scataboo's running style?
Speaker 3 (20:38):
I mean.
Speaker 11 (20:41):
Outrageous. Now, he's I mean physical, He's a physical player,
you know. I mean he's looking for contact, you know,
young running backs, So you see it a lot in
the younger guys, the older you get, you realize that
you probably shouldn't be duck in your head. You might
want to run out of bounds down again.
Speaker 10 (21:00):
But how do you guys, how would you guys describe
his running style? And do you think the Broncos in
his hot streak?
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Is a young man running physically who likely will have
a very short career. That's who he is. But boy,
when when I mean it's a little bit of insanity
here probably with Cam's kataboo, it's it's it's probably not
going to go all that long, but it's going to
be damn exciting. While last and right now he's just
kind of blossoming.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
I would put the over under like fifty five yards
for Cam's kataboo, and I hope it's the under. I
think it should be the under. This is a hell
of a defense. Cam is not that explosive, but he's
gonna pick up three or four yards every single time
he runs the football. So you know what's the running
style ct Yeah, probably.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
He's They were the worst red zone offense in the
league and it has been better since he's been there
because he is that type of guy who you know.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Well quarter you got a quarterback, you can keep things alive.
Will do Russ wasn't gonna do that either. You do.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
How do you think Russell Wilson will be received in
a you know, sort of standing on the sideline backup
role by the by the crowd.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
I think it's hard to receive a dude that's not
on the field.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
I think he just gets you know, polite applause and hey, hey, Russ,
how you doing.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
A couple of the Ryder cup knuckleheads? That those bears
are players wives. That's what Russ is right now. He's
a player's wife.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
He's a player.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
He's a player's wife right now. So so they'll have
a couple of knuckleheads bustling.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Does Sierra still get some private security for games?
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Sierra will not be at the game?
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Oh you don't think so?
Speaker 10 (22:36):
Not even next story, Dan, All right, let's hear from
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon. This, uh, this went pretty
viral yesterday.
Speaker 6 (22:44):
Guys.
Speaker 10 (22:45):
He was asked when did he learn to take the
emotions out of coaching when handling injury, injuries and off
the field stuff with his players.
Speaker 7 (22:55):
How early in your career did you have to start
trying to figure out how to take the emotion out
of coaching. As far as when you when you have
all these injuries and you have all these different pieces,
when's the first time that you can.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
Recall it two thousand and seven when our quarterback went
to jail? Coach, thank you, it's good answer.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Well, that had to be Michael Vick, right, it was
Michael va.
Speaker 10 (23:21):
He was the quality control assistant with the Falcons in
two thousand and seven.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
When did you learn something? Yeah, my quarterback went to jail.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
How many quarterbacks have ever gone to jail?
Speaker 4 (23:32):
I think, while they're a quarterback, I think he's the
only one. I'm not saying there there is a quarterback
or two that ended up in a jail cell, but.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Have been in jail. There's probably been only one.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Big Man had some interesting times, didn't he.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
And but he said, Dinny McClain, hold my beer.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
M But Michael Vick actually went to jail like I'm
in jails.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
That we called it?
Speaker 4 (23:56):
Okay, Yeah, I can't imagine there's that many. So funny answer.
Is there a question there or just no question? Just
like look at this. Yeah, Gannon just reflecting on when
things are one of his players. Yeah, that Eagles team,
man that who are they playing this weekend?
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Anybody else? The top of their head? No, I don't.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
I got the schedule. Boy, This thing could really sink
like a stone for them, couldn't it.
Speaker 6 (24:22):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (24:22):
The Eagles, where are you? Where are you? Eagles? They
got a bye week? I don't even see him, Dan,
you got them?
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Anybody?
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Mueler not doing good?
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (24:36):
They're playing Minnesota at Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
And JJ McCarthy may be back this week.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
With Philadelphia that would me by the end of the
season not look that great. We'll see their favorite though,
against Minnesota, all right, Dan, anything else that is?
Speaker 3 (24:53):
I got one more quick one.
Speaker 10 (24:54):
So if you guys were watching Monday night football, there
were a lot of people saying that Troy Aikman was
being really hard on Caleb Williams, and we might know
why that was the case.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Did you meet with Troy last week leading up to
the game?
Speaker 6 (25:07):
And I did not.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
I did not.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
I didn't get to meet with him, tried to meet
with him. Uh, And then you know, you know, reached
out and tried to meet and you know that didn't
that didn't that didn't happen, and so you know.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
Uh, moved on from.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
It when played the game and came out three and two?
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Why did you.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
I was here late.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
And Tims didn't meet up lifting or whatever the case
may have been, and then tried to call him after
the game, and or not after game, after after the
day that day that you know, I was supposed to
meet with him and then didn't get through.
Speaker 10 (25:41):
So Aikman didn't pick up the phone. Caleb was late
doing whatever he was doing. He calls Aikman back for
his meeting with him before the game. Aikman doesn't pick up.
Do you think Troy Aikman was being a little petty
on all?
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Now you playing with Troy Aikman.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
I'm just asking you, guys heard this is Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
It's his fault. He's got these guys. This is part
of their deal. They meet with all the national broadcast
team all the time. He got something else he's gonna do,
gonna get his lift in. He purposefully didn't meet with
those guys in want to. And so now you think
you think in his phone Troy Aikman has a number
of pops up and says Caleb Williams, or do you
think it's just a number right, So, how many of
(26:23):
just numbers do you I just had two here while
the show. How many numbers do you guys pick up
on that you don't recognize? Zero zero zero, So and
you're gonna turn out on Troy Aikman.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
Yeah, I actually agree with Scott on this. I mean,
these production meetings, it's about the same time, the same
place every single week. You you know the routine. It's
probably the one meeting with the media that you under
no circumstance. Miss there's really no ees here.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
So you think Caleb Williams is a big time in
Troy Troy Aikman.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
I just think listen, I thought he played great. I
thought he I think he's gonna be okay, he's had
three games a role.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
But this is the nature of this story, did or not?
Speaker 3 (27:04):
I think this is Caleb Williams all right?
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Is it petty for Aikman who felt like he was
big timed reasonably?
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Do we know that for a fact or just because
he didn't answer the phone?
Speaker 4 (27:15):
Well, I mean, isn't this the direction we're going right now?
That Caleb Williams had something better?
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Williams big time?
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (27:22):
So he big timed him? All right?
Speaker 4 (27:23):
So now what so Aman, Well, Aikman's like, well, Pound
sand I'm not picking the phone up now, You're already
big time.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
No, I don't think that gives Troy Aikman the right
on a national broadcast to be petty. Okay, that's where
I'm going. Do you think he was petty in that game?
That's not what I'm implying. But I'm just answering the question.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
Now, the history of Troy Aikman is Troy Aikman has
a history of being as twos ask ask them, asked
Barry Switzer ask a lot of people to Troy Aikman.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
He ate Barry Switzer since college.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
Okay, but I mean, you know he actively was trying
to get him fired while he was a quarterback of
the Cowboys and he was the head coach.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
You have the media, hold on, you ain't ever done that.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
I've not on that level. I've never done What are
you kidding me? You've You've heard of other quarterbacks through
the media trying to get a head coach fired.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Oh, I'm sure, I'm sure that has happened.
Speaker 4 (28:13):
Okay, fine, but who where.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Uh l Way Dan Reeves?
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Did l Wait go through the media to try to
get Dan Reeves fired.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Well, I don't know. I probably would assume that he
has put people in there that.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
He talked to, Okay, I mean I know it was
bitter between them, and there's been bitterness between star players
and coaches. I'm not saying it's never happened.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
Who was How many coaches? Did did Peyton Manning go
through in Indianapolis?
Speaker 5 (28:40):
Didn't you just have one?
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Not many?
Speaker 4 (28:42):
Tony Dungee was there forever more was there?
Speaker 3 (28:46):
There was there? I think he had three or at
least three early Gosh, I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
You think you think Manny was getting rid?
Speaker 3 (28:53):
I think I think Manny was pretty good. And he
says I'm going to do this, this is this, then,
this is this, this going to happen?
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Well, I would agree with you on that.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Listen. I don't think Payton Listen. Do I think Joygue Petty? Yeah?
Do I think He's is thirty years of national broadcaster
and this meeting hamps this time and you blow him
off that he feels obligated to talk to you? Do
I think he has his number? No?
Speaker 5 (29:18):
Oh good one on the tax line. Russell Wilson, P
Carroll Carroll.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
There you go, hey. Altitude Sports Radio is your home

Speaker 3 (29:27):

Speaker 5 (29:51):
All right, Bruce, which teams oppressed you in the early time?
Speaker 12 (29:53):
Well, I mean, with me, it's been the Colorado Avalanche.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
I know they were a good team.
Speaker 12 (29:57):
They're three to zero to one, but Nathan McCay and
In Martincash Cal mccarr, they've come out and they've been gangbusters.
They still haven't got goals from Landeskog and Brock Nelson
and Nikushin and there's still three to zero to one.
Scott Wedgwood and net has got goals against an average
under two. It just looks like they're saying, I'm on
(30:19):
a mission this year. We're not gonna start off slow.
We're gonna I think they were all in four last
year or something to start off with, and they're coming
out and I think they they want to end up
in first place, and I think they've started off the
way they want to start off.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
We go to.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Columbus, Ohio, where it is the Eastern time zone for
those who are deficient and understanding the nature of time
zones in this country, where Connor McGahee is standing by Connor,
we saw the unveiling of Tusky, the Utah Mammoth mascot,
and I understand you were instrumental and changing from Howler
(31:14):
to Bernie. Is that story true?
Speaker 6 (31:17):
It is? And that's a new descriptor for me.
Speaker 13 (31:19):
By the way, you can just call me Tusky. But yeah,
So back in two thousand and nine, we we unveiled
Bernie October at home. I think it was like the
second or third game of the season versus the Vancouver Canucks,
and you know we had there was a big gap
in between when Howler left and when Bernie began, I
(31:40):
think about seven years. I think it was O two
to nine, But I think did a mask. A mascot
is a big part of a team's identity, especially in
the community for kids. I think people forget all the
time that a lot of sports is for kids, and
I think a mascot is a big part of that.
So when I was working in game operations for the
Able Lunch, which I started back in two thousand and nine,
(32:03):
we got with a company called Street Characters in Colgary, Alberta, Canada,
and we did all the drawings and then they had
these little little animations and came up with instead of
the bigfoot on the shoulder, we had a dog paw,
so that was kind of Bernie's logo, right, And then
instead of having a number, it was a dog bone,
so we had and obviously the barrel underneath which the
(32:24):
Saint Bernard uses to help avalanche victims in pop culture
and in real life. I guess, so, yeah, I was.
I was proud to be a big part of that.
Oh A long time ago.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Now, why was Hollard? I didn't realize it was holler
nothing Bernie. Why was Hollard not around.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 13 (32:45):
That was kind of in between the only thing that
I did in that time period. I started backing Approach
as a PA announcer back in five, So I had
no idea what was going on with the Howler thing.
I just knew that it sort of fell to us
and in two thousand and nine to bring a mascot back.
And I think, you know, design wise and and uh
(33:06):
and everything, we've done a pretty darn good job at that.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
So I'm I'm very proud of Bernie to this day.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
It's a dog.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
I'm just throwing out there. I like twer, I like
Bernie too, but I like taller.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
All right.
Speaker 6 (33:19):
Well, he also scared the living dickens at.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
A kid, That's what I said.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
That's yeah.
Speaker 13 (33:25):
I mean, you kids got them all you want, But
like a mascot is for children, And Howler was terrifying.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
He would like a big smile on his face, he
look psychotic. No, you just looked like.
Speaker 5 (33:38):
A sasquatch and stuck his finger in the outlet and got
Elex cute.
Speaker 6 (33:41):
Okay, how old are you? How old are your kids?
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Tyler?
Speaker 5 (33:44):
I got a fourteen year old, a thirteen year old.
Speaker 13 (33:46):
Okay, Okay, so when they were seven, like, try explaining
interrational fear to them in a logical way.
Speaker 6 (33:54):
It's just not going to happen.
Speaker 13 (33:54):
So you need something more friendly, you need you don't
need a sasquatch, this mythical, terrifying creature that you know.
I'm still scared of Harry and the Henderson's to this
day because.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
That right there, should have anything made you feel kinder
to sasquatch.
Speaker 13 (34:09):
When he first was introduced. I mean, that's a terrifying
scene in the house. John, let's go anyhow.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Hey, I want to know who's who was a SoundBite
that we just heard before Connor.
Speaker 6 (34:20):
That was Bruce Boudreau, who's knee case.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Uh?
Speaker 13 (34:25):
Well, so one thing I've learned over the years is
you don't go to general managers and head coaches for
pronunciation advice. And Bezzy will do this sometimes is he'll
call uh Marty nachs neck ash. Yeah he does the
Canadian thing. But but yeah, it's happened a couple of
times now. So we have Nikushin and uh and Marty
(34:47):
Neckash on our teeth.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
Every time Bezzy says that, I'm like, oh my god,
are we are we all getting it wrong with well,
I'm as, how do you say, how do you say
Marty Natchez.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Martin cash yesh. It literally took me about It took
me about forty five seconds that I'm going, wait a minute,
we got a new player. I don't know about Martin cash.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Connor bigger issues second line point production or power play.
Speaker 13 (35:22):
I don't think not. I don't think either are issues.
I mean, we're four games in the season, and numbers
wise and eye test wise, I mean, given who's on
the second line, I was a little kind of where
you are today going into that game Monday versus Buffalo,
but watching them play like it's coming right, the points
there are coming, and so I don't think there's a
(35:44):
huge worry there. If we get all these issues need
to be addressed at the ten game point of the season. Judges,
judges coaches judge their season and their team in ten
game segments.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
And so we're only at number four. So when we
get to.
Speaker 13 (36:00):
Game number ten, we'll look at it. We will revisit
both the second line and the power play. But early
on eye test wise, even though the production isn't there,
the makings are there for success for both.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
Car what Woods has been great, but what is this that?
What are we getting Blackwood back?
Speaker 4 (36:15):
Close?
Speaker 13 (36:16):
Yeah, he's real close because he's on his conditioning stint
up with the Eagles right now. And anytime you go
down to the a Hill for a conditioning stint, the
next stop is the National Hockey League. So I mean
member Gabe played two games I think with the Eagles
before he came back last spring. He wore the cowboy
hat all that stuff. So I mean it could be
(36:36):
as early as Saturday versus Boston. That's a very strong possibility.
Blackwood feeling good, he's gonna play some pro hockey here,
and so he'll be back and reuniting the lumber Yards
sooner than later.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
And I just want to say, also, we saw the
news on Eric Johnson broadcast.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
Well I'm going to say like two games and now
he's gone.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
But it shows you just just what the leaders up
of Connor can do certain color analysts where he takes
one of him and gets him a national a national bone.
The other one's still doing midday radio.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
I think we I think Connor's having some audio issues.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
We got a little silence on Connor there. Connor, we
can't hear you. Unfortunately, Yeah, he couldn't hear us. Oh yeah,
hear nobody can hear anybody.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
I just was real funny.
Speaker 4 (37:23):
It was Scott was saying that he's Scott was saying
he's in the same category as Eric Johnson and he
was overlooked by ESPN to be a hockey commentator, sure,
whereas Eric Johnson is now flourishing.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
Yeah, I'm mister hockey, you know, just on the radio?
Speaker 4 (37:39):
Are we gone with the Connor?
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Are we? Yeah? You hear me?
Speaker 6 (37:43):
Now?
Speaker 5 (37:43):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (37:44):
There barely was it. We got a run because we
got Nate and Andy. But we want to say thank
you for Bernie.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
We love you.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
You're the best. And we got pregame coming up at
four thirty and we'll hear your call all by yourself
because Eric Johnson has already left.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Yeah, because you got him promoted and I'm still doing noon,
noon to three on radio.
Speaker 6 (38:00):
I'm all about everybody else's success.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
Thanks boy.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
That's a good look.
Speaker 5 (38:07):
Great.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
You know what has he ever been on the show
without a great line to that to like end or
he's the best?
Speaker 4 (38:15):
Yeah, he's the best. He is the absolute best, and
he's an old soul. He's uh you know, listen, I
do agree with him.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
I mean, numbers are what the numbers are, and they
can say they're starting to look good, and here we go,
there's still three and nineteen on the power play so
far that would you know, six of thirty eight through
eight games that would not be good. But let's let's
wait till ten before you start looking and crunching numbers
or say good or bad.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
It's just it's just interesting that you haven't had You've
had so much production from Kneecaps and from McKinnon and
you've had like nothing from Nelson Landers
