and seventy two yarders, which means to me, as great
as the defense could play, you're just gonna give up
field goals, probably a couple if you can't return, if
you can't cover, so to me, I just kick it
through the end zone. That is not the right way
to handle things, because if you can actually cover kicks
the right way, you certainly will keep your importent be

If you've noticed, it seems around the league the last
two or three weeks, compared to the first two or
three weeks, coverage has gotten better. You're not seeing these
thirty five thirty for thirty three. You're seeing in the
twenties now more often than not.

way things go, I think they'll get a couple more,

for the Broncos. I just figured at some point this
defense is gonna get a takeaway or two. Right.

I'm just not buying the Jackson Dark Campscataboo deal. I'm
just not buying it. So, you know, maybe they'll surprise me.
Maybe I'll have to come on air on Monday and
need some crow on this thing. But I'm not buying
that these guys are actually that good. I think that
they've just been fun to watch. They're like a little
energizer buddy. They go out there, they do their little dances.
The crowds go nuts for him. Cam's gonna run over

three or four guys. But guess what, When you run
over three or four guys at home, that creates some energy.
Run over three or four guys on the road, it
doesn't create as much energy because now the crowd's not
getting behind you. So I don't think these guys are
gonna be anything that is going to be terrifying. They
haven't gone up against a defense like this. If they
score more than thirteen, fourteen points, I'll be surprised.

over five times like they did the Saints, they're gonna

reunion after this England trip, like just to get everybody's attention, Like,

Well, I'm not gonna start comparing in contrast until this
team starts win in.

Do you think that when those comparisons naturally happen, and
of course patser Tann and crew are gonna hear these comparisons,
do you think that is a motivating factor?

Sure, I mean people got pride, Players got pride. They
want to be the best to ever do it. But
how many of the players now understand what that team was?

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Very few? Very few?

Speaker 2 (08:38):
So I mean, but okay, fine, Maybe they don't know
the specifics, but they certainly know it's regarded as one
of the best defenses of all time. Like, you don't
need to know a lot about them, but you know that, hold.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
On, hold on, hold. Are they considered one of the
best defense of all time?

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yes, I would say so, absolutely to who. I would
say they're one of the top five defenses of all
time because I think five or so defenses have won
Super Bowls, and that's one of them. Namely, the other
defenses that have won super Bowls. Give you the Bears, give.

You the Ravens, yup, Tampa Bay.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Okay, fine, we'll give you Tampa Bay. Brad Johnson, not
Trent Tilford. I mean, there's not many most most Super
Bowls are won by offense, not defense, but there's about
five or six of them that are defense, and that
team is one of them.

Uh what about Seattle's.

That's up there, it's fantastic.

I think Seattle and Denver twenty fifteen, they'd probably be
competing for that fourth and fifth spot.

It's not like Russ was a terrible quarterback the full
time and Marshawn Lynch was on that team as well.
I mean, they had some players on that offense, no doubt.

The one thing that you can't tangibly feel in a
stat line with that twenty fifteen defense, though, which what?

Is what really made them so special? The timeliness man,
I mean, the third and long sack, the strip sack,
the interception, the keep to Lee picked six. It's not
just that they happened, it was when they happened. They
happened at the biggest, most crucial moments of every game.
You just knew the defense was gonna do something insane.

And you can't tangibly feel that when you look at
all time great stat line.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Right. Oh, we've went back and looked at that Orange Crush,
the original Orange Crush. They had a three year period
where they gave up it was crazy, twelve, ten and
fourteen points. It was over a three year stretch. In
that three years, they average given up thirteen points a game.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, the Broncos. The Broncos are giving up fifteen fifteen
points game, fifteen point eight. We gotta look at the Texans.
The Texans are actually in first place in that department
with just under twelve. Like, something's going on, and we'll
see the Texans here in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
You've been struggling, right, and so all of a sudden
they can win games. I think when you compare offenses
and defenses, you got to compare by eras, Like I
don't think it's right to compare against the Bearers in
eighty five when they held them to like twelve points
per game. Well, it's a different it was a different game, right,
So it's almost like take from two thousand and on

and what had been the best defenses of all time
Baltimore and Denver and Seattle.

And where this defense fits in. It's off to a
great start for show with the.

Three he's mentioned won a championship. So this and I
first question asked you in the open if you waste
this defense and can't find a way to win a
Super Bowl with this defense and the way it's perpetrating
on people.

And man, we already did you waste two or three years?

We already possibly blew two games with this defense for
special teams reasons. Yeah, one for sure with the Colts,
And it's arguable if you blew the game with the Chargers.
But I mean it was a walkoff. Well the Colts won.
You've just had one and you've just screwed it up
leverage and hopefully that doesn't come to burn you. But
like I mean, even if you just say, hey, the

team should be five and one right now. Let's let's
face it. So the question is are they legit or not?
And yeah, okay, it's been fun seeing the Giants. Come on, man,
you're gonna lose on this reunion weekend to Jackson Dart

Maybe the schedule was too much, Maybe they really do
need a break.

I mean, that would be my biggest concern with the game. Still,
It's not about the Giants, It's not about Jackson Darter
Camp's kataboo. It would be can you handle the justment
of coming back without a buye?

Wait, it's hard to say, like what's missing on this defense?
Right because the defense is fantastic and I would say
the best part of this defense is how cohesive they play.
It is similar to twenty fifteen. It's a great pass
rush with a great secondary. I think our inside linebacker
play has been the one questionable mark of the defense.

The one thing that Dray brings is a hard hitting, thumping,
downhill linebacker that can actually cover. So what's his specialty?
I would say his presence. I mean, you guys saw
Dre out there just on the sidelines of trading camp.
That's a thick dude. Now, that's a real thing.

Dude, Yeah, I think it adds a thumper inside on
the run game, which if you kind of go back
and listen, Jonathan Taylor's doing it against everybody who's played
against this year, right, averaging over one hundred yards a game.

recover from a high right ankle sprain he suffered on

September fourteenth. Do you guys think that JJ is the
most likely bust of the twenty twenty four oh quarterback
draft class.

It's too sure to say bust because the injury. I
didn't like him in college, but that's that's a whole
another question. We'll see. I will have him watched a
few different things lately. I'm kind of a big fan
of Kevin O'Connell for sure, and if JJ McCarthy can play,
he'll be a player in Minnesota.
