Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Columbus Hastings and DMAC on demand. Listen to
PhD Live every weekday from noon to three on Altitudes
Sports Radio ninety two five and on the Altitude Sports
Radio app.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Hey Tyler, I'll up for it. Man. If people are
out there with reasons why this game is dangerous for
the Broncos, you want to bring the argument, let's go.
I'm up for the conversation for sure.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well, this is a game that you want to keep
it simple, right, I mean, keep it simple, stupid. Don't
come out like I think there's a temptation sometimes when
you feel like you are the far superior opponent, you're like, Okay,
this is a great opportunity for us to put some
things on tape. And sometimes it is a good opportunity.
You just want to put a BS play out there,
come out with some trick play whatever, just to put

(00:48):
it on film so your next opponent has to spend
an hour and a half studying it when you have
zero intention of ever running it again. And I would
say at least until the games in hand, don't play
childish games. Keep it simple, stoopid it because the one
thing that could go wrong is you make a mistake.
You ask a running back to throw a football, you
ask wide receiver to throw a football, they throw an interception,

(01:09):
and all of a sudden, a team that's got zero
takeaways on the season, you know they get the ball
in their own half or you know, in their scoring position.
So keep it simple offensively, and really keep it simple
defensively as well. They do one thing really well. They
run the football really well. It is, so make them
beat you in a different way. Make them beat you
putting the ball in the air, if you want to
bring Tellano, if Fong get down there in the box,

(01:30):
whatever you want to do. Load that sucker up, cool, Darren.
I mean, have the Pittsburgh Steelers approach to it. Don't
be stupid, don't be arrogant about it like they were
with t bow. You know, I mean, bait them, bake
them to try to beat you in a different way.
But if you overcomplicate it, I'm telling you that's the
quickest way for stupid things to happen.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
I do think the Jets offense has some quick strike
capabilities and talent. What I can't get over looking at
the Jets, Tyler, I can't get over how bad the
defense and Quinnin Williams. I mean, he's practicing, I guess limited,
but I think he'll go. But he's banged up. Saus Gardner, Okay,
he's a cool player, you know for sure. But I

(02:12):
cannot get over the fact they only have seven sacks
on the entire year, and Nick Benito has seven sacks
this season. Ruggs have twenty one sacks on the season.
That's first in the league. And I just don't know
how they don't get to the quarterback, who is the
number one guy in the NFL from snap to release
of holding on to the ball.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yeah, well that that might be in a sign that
the Jets offensive line is actually doing an effective job,
because sure, for Justin Fields to be able to hold
onto the football that long, that means they got to
be blocking them doe.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
And they got a good running game too. The Jets
offensive line is probably okay, you know, they're probably all right.
Sacks allowed, they are twenty fifth in the league. But
like they do have a guy who's hanging on to
the ball forever, who's slow to make quick decisions. He
does have. I mean, it's like the Garrett Wilson Show
and the band of who else like a bunch of

(03:04):
nobodies really, So I don't know, man, Like Ay, if
there's reasons out there that this is going to be competitive,
I'm happy to hear them. I just don't see it.
I And I'm not saying they just can't hang in
there for a little bit. Most teams do, right.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Well, look at their scores. They've been hanging in the
majority of their games. Actually it gets relatively decent opponents
they have, so.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
But they really quit against the count I mean.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
But a bit naive to say they can't even.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Hang I don't know, man, I guess I'm influenced so
much by their last game when they just collapsed, I
mean collapse and just didn't show much fight or effort.
And all right, yeah, where where do you find the
will to fight if you are zero to five and
you're trailing early in a game?

Speaker 3 (03:53):
But what about the game against the Bucks? Would they
lose twenty nine twenty seven? What what about you know,
the Jets game, or except me, the Dolphins game. It's
twenty seven to twenty one. Yeah, you know, you still
put up twenty two points offensively against the Cowboys. I'm
not saying that makes you juggernaut but you're two points
off from feeling like you did enough to win a
football game. You score twenty four, you feel like you

(04:14):
did your job to win a game.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
It's what about?

Speaker 3 (04:16):
What about against the Steelers? Would they lose thirty four
to thirty two? Yeah? Yeah, this is a team that
has hung with some good football team. Now, they got
buried by the Bills, they did. They got buried thirty
to ten, and they got buried by the Cowboys thirty
seven to twenty two. But they've got three other games
that they were hanging. They were there, they were in it.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Oh, you can get to that. Our our guy, Jesse's
did you hear England is playing Wales and Friendly at
at Wembley? I have not, Jesse. Can you hear us?

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Back here we go again.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Well, if you're watching us on YouTube or Twitch, you
can see that Jesse is at the game, but it's
hard to hear Jesse.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
They in England.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Jesse, how are you? How's the game going?

Speaker 3 (05:04):
The game is a blowout right now? It's three nail
England in the fifty seventh minute. All right, can you
get any Have we seen a soccer hooligan fight yet?
You want to see some of them behind me.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Sure, Jesse's turning his phone too. Some soccer hooligans.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Hey started go wheels chance. It's hard to hear you,
but yeah, the hooligans are here.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
The hooligans are here. Ky does it seem so quiet?
I don't know, because we literally can't hear a thing.
Cell phones and the whole thing. All right, Jesse, we'll
let you go. That's cool. Thank you for being on
with us from England. It does look awesome. I hope
you're having a great time over there, brother.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Yeah, no, it's a blast. It's a I was glad
I made it out here. It took two hours to
get here, but it was it was.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
What her All right, brother, we'll let you go see.
Thanks Dan, I'm still up for trying to get that's great.
It's just the technology is. I knew it would catch
up with us at some point, but I'd still love
to get a guy in a bar, Dan. Is there
any possibility that that can happen? Yes, yes, I'm working
on it. So we've got just for an update here.

(06:16):
I have been texting from my cell with one of
our listeners and his buddy is in London right now.
His Buddy's name is Steve and he's going to try
and jump on our zoom meeting here just a couple
of minutes lie from London, so we'll see if he
has a better connection. Right, we'll make that the last
one because we because we've learned that you can't.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Have a cell phone. Do they have Wi Fi in England?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I don't know, bro Like, I can't believe what we
want to do actually works. It's just that technology is
sort of letting us down. I thought the hard part
would just be finding anybody anyways. That hasn't been difficult
at all. Is just trying to connect with people technically.
That is a bit of a well a mystery. So
we'll try to do that best week can big win

(07:03):
for the Broncos. I'm sorry if I signed too cocky
with it, and I hope that's not spoiling the fun
for everybody out there, I mean.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Derek and Cassrock. This conversation sounds like a previous one
from another show a few years ago, which one was
that appreciate you listening against the Raiders when John Gruden
got fired and everyone on radio said it was still
it was gonna be an easy win.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Oh, that was what was his name, the special Team's
Rich Rich.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yeah. We lost back to back years to interim Raiders
head coaches. Yeah, because then we lost to Antonio Peers.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Yeah, we were like, if the Broncos can't win this one,
they'll never going to win a game, Like, you know,
this is impossible, And they rallied around him. Now, he
didn't work out long term for them either, And your
emotional rally point is relatively limited. So okay, fine, what
would the Jets be rallying around?

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Well, I don't think that that's all that relevant. I mean,
they get paid a lot of money because they're good.
They're good football players, They're talented at what they do.
I mean, what are they rallying around? Getting to win?
As simple as that. Losing is not fun. They want
to get that monkey off their back. They want to
have a victory Monday. Seriously, sometimes it's as simple as

(08:19):
rallying around a victory Monday.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Do players need to leave that charge or is it
just something that's within you as a competitor, like you
collectively just have that.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Well, I do think that you hit a breaking point
in the season, and the Jets very well might have
already hit the breaking point. As a coach, you would
like to think that you got the right guys of
the building that you haven't gotten there after five weeks.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
You know, It's funny like watching the Rockies this year,
every game, which I did, which is weird, you would
hear Warren Shafer say, hey, this team never quit, right,
But Tyler, I can't tell you how many games. And yeah,
there were times that the Rockies fought. Sometimes they came back,
not often, but sometimes sometimes they came back in law
and made it close. But you know what happened more

(09:01):
times than not with the Rockies this year, Tyler, they
would get down and then they would just quit, I
mean not quick quit. But like you know, there wasn't
a big charge, There wasn't anything emotional. They like, they
didn't have it in their bones to fight back every
single game because they were so bad. They were more
or less losing every single game. They didn't have it.

(09:25):
And this is what this Jets team reminds me of.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
How do you think the Broncos looked against the Titans?
A mediocre not great, mediocre, I mean not very good. Yeah,
you walked away, you got a w and you're like halleluja.
We actually beat the Titans. It was not looking great
there for a second. Media weren't necessarily worried about losing
to them, but you definitely wanted to make a little
bit of a better statement. Yeah, are the Titans not
a bottom dweller? Are they? They've got one win?

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Yeah, but don't forget the Broncos were like minus three
in that game and they still won relatively easily.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Well sort of, I guess. I mean twenty to twelve
against a one win football time, it's not exactly a
dominating win.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yeah, but minus three usually lose by twenty points.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Well, your minus three going into the season, because they
don't know who's who, right, I mean, you play that
game today, it's obviously radically different. I mean my point
is like, we didn't exactly dominate against one of the
other bottom dwellers in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Okay, that's true. It was Week one, and the Broncos
are a much different team in my opinion.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
You did dominate against the Bengals, though, to be.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Fair, and you should have and you did, and you
fought back unbelievably hard against the Eagles. Listen, I understand
what Adam's saying about, hey, you could get distracted in
this that you can look past him and trap game
the whole thing. But I think Sean Payin's done actually
an extraordinary job keeping these guys focused. Hopefully, it appears
that he has at least that's it seems like he has.

(10:50):
It's a business trip, they know it, and I just
think the Broncos have bigger fish to fry, especially on Fridays.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Someone on the text line says, that was five weeks ago,
Tyler is, that's what could be an attorneity.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Well, you tell me. I mean it feels like an
attorney in the NFL. I mean you only get four months.
That was a quarter of the season ago, So I
mean in football terms, it was a long ways away.
In my opinion, yeah, I think it was a just
and listen, look look how bad Bow was playing. And
I understand he wasn't great until the fourth quarter on Sunday.
I mean, I get it.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
We have three quarters of Bow. Look at the exact
same way against the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
But here's the thing against the Jets there you can
just run the ball against him. Man. Javante Williams killed them,
killed them, And I think, like RJ. Harvey could have
a this This is like, what a great opportunity for
our j Harvey, not for a million carries, but the
opportunity just to break through and you know, get one

(11:46):
of these big, huge runs, Like did you expect this
sort of season from Javonte Williams.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
People are saying the Broncos or minus eight and a
half and minus six and a half to the Titans.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
What do you mean minus? Well, say again like waver
favor this week?

Speaker 3 (12:01):
No, no, no, no, when we played them.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
When we play them, they're minus eight and a half
in minus six and a half. Yeah, I don't know, man, Listen.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
I'm not trying to be the pessimist here. I'm really not.
I mean, I guess I'm arguing, just argue a little
bit on it. But like, I firmly believe the Broncos
need to dominate this game. I think that they should
and I think that they will dominate this game. I
just think it's naive to think that this does not
have the potential hallmarks of a trap game.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Well, okay, sure, I mean, any given Sunday they get
paid two. That's that's that's where we're at with this one.
And you know, I assume the Jets will beat somebody.
I'm just pointing out they got the Panthers, Bengals, and
Browns after this that are in my opinion.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
But i mean, what does that mean. Does that mean
they're not going to try to win against the Broncos
because they've got lesser opponents on the rise. Eric's gonna
be like, hey, boys, we're going to London. Let's just
have a vacation. You don't have to try against the Broncos.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
You tell me when you've been on bad teams that
break during a game that they're getting their ass kicks.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
I'll tell you this, I'm not looking forward to other weeks,
like like when I'm on a bad team, I'm just miserable.
So it's not like I'm looking to the future and
I'm like, oh, we got the Panthers, like like, we
can take a deep breath. We're gonna get a win.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Then how about like during a game? All right, so
you're on a bad team. So you're in a bad team, Yeah,
and I've done that. Okay, you're losing. You're on a
bad team and you're losing. Where's your will to fight
to come back? At that point, I guess there's two things,
your personal will and the team, your collective will as
a team.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Yeah, I don't know. That's tough because it depends on
who you are. Keep in mind that ninety five percent
of your team is fighting for their life, for their
livelihood to keep their starting position weekend week out. And
you've got about five players on that team that they
could throw off the middle finger and pull it to

(13:46):
keep to leave at the end of the season and
say I don't care. I'm not gonna play hard, right Yeah,
So like you're asking me, like what's my mindset? My
mindset is God, the next coach is gonna fire everybody
around here, and if I don't ball out, then I'm
not going to be a part of this squad next year,
and I'm not going to have a job anywhere, So like,
what's my mindset? Honestly, it puts you into panic mode.

(14:07):
When you get a new boss at work, what do
you do? You tend to straighten up a little bit,
unless you're being I'm sloush right now. When you get
a new boss, everybody gets on guard a little bit, right, Like, like,
what's the new boss's opinion going to be? So I
just don't necessarily. But then at the back of your mind,
you might be trying to perform, but you've got your
doubts about your teammates, right, And that's where it starts

(14:28):
to seep in because you're no longer playing like a team.
You no longer have faith in your teammates. But the
reality is ninety five percent of the team is panicked
about having a job next year.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
I remember those teams. I remember Broncos teams like that.
I covered them. I was here for it. It was
some dark times around here, and you're absolutely right, and
I remember talking to these guys. So here's what would
happen at least on those really, really terrible Broncos teams.
You're right, everybody would try hard, but it was kind
of like you weren't all pulling in the same direction,
and you got a lot of guys trying to the

(14:59):
classic you know, do your job, doing other things outside
their job, like trying to do extra things to make plays.
Like nobody would really like quit quit, but like you
know you would do. You would freelance too much. You
just weren't symbiotically working together, you know. It was like
the famous story with a coobs gathered the team around, Hey,
what's going on or something, and Russell o' kung started

(15:22):
talking and to keep to Leeb told him to shut
the hell up. I think that was like in twenty sixteen.
The privacyma are actually pretty good then. But there were
other dark times around here, Tyler, like before they drafted Tebow,
when they got the before they got Vonne, those teams
where it was you know, McDaniel's era after you, I
mean it was it was such a disaster the year
after you left and we're gone the next year as

(15:42):
bad as it was when you were with McDaniels, it
was worse. And actually, ironically it was that England game
where McDaniels got caught cheating that that ended up to
him getting fired during the season. That was that was
the lowest of all the bad Broncos seasons to me.
That was the worst one.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Yeah, because it's one thing to cheat and be good.
It's an entirely other thing to cheat and still suck.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Right, I'll tell you this, there's no way Aaron Glenn
could be as bad of a head coach as Josh McDaniels.
And I'm gonna just assume that the guys like Aaron Glenn.
But I was listening to coach Sandford on the morning
Sprint and he his his point was that, I'm curious
what you think of this. Glenn's not having an opportunity
to really install the defense he really wants to play

(16:26):
because he doesn't have the right personnel for that. Would
would you agree with that?

Speaker 3 (16:30):
I guess I don't know enough about what he's trying
to do to answer that. I don't. I don't really know.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Well, it may be like you just don't have the
right guy.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
I mean, I do think it takes you too, maybe
more realistically, even three years to feel like you've got
your squad.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Yeah, style points may count a little bit here for
the Brown I hope they don't get distracted. We haven't
heard any stories like that. We just keep hearing that
they're out.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
There, went sight seeing. God not to go sight seeing.
Pat Wine did go sight seeing? All right, Dan, we're
trying to line things up. Yes, no, maybe.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
Yeah, our guy was efforting. He's got a bad connection. Yeah, yeah,
we we we tried.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
We just we just counted as a win that that
we had a basic premise and we really did get
a hold of somebody in a pub. We just couldn't
hear him. I mean, we did it, we did the thing.
We didn't know, we didn't we don't know.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
That doesn't count. No, we didn't do the thing because
Harry potter Land does not count as an English pub.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
No, I actually would side with you on that, all right,
but but we'll hold out hope that maybe we can. Meanwhile,
Shader is getting all sorts of attention. Uh, the Broncos
in England, all sorts of things going on. H Dan,
let's put Paul Goes coming up next. Uh, that's great. Listen,

(17:55):
I'm teddy as a you know, I'm a Rockies fan,
but next to the Rockies clearly of the Red Sox.
And if the Red Sox can't win, the only thing
that matters to me is the Yankees losing. That's it.
The end. The rest of the baseball playoffs have fun.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Yankee lose, Yankee lose, Yankee lose.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
Oh God?

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Is that great?

Speaker 3 (18:18):
All right?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Dan, Mountain Hig Appliance we love you guys. Thank you
to mounta High Appliance dot Com. We have a really funny,
uh story, Chad Brown, the end of your career? When
do you know it?

Speaker 6 (18:30):
Is.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
We'll get to that after. Let's football go, but Dan,
let's football.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
Go, all right, Let's hear from Vance Joseph. He spoke
in London earlier today. Justin Fields, guys d Max day one.
Justin Fields guy.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Justin my guy, Justin's had no chance. This poor guy
if he just had a team.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
And the looks pretty good with Pittsburgh right now.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Yeah, well he was fourign too, But you know why
I keep playing a guy who's four and two. They
they tried to keep Justin Fields. Fields got a better
offer from the Jets anyway they try. They supposedly did it.
Fields was like, you know, I'm moving.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
On for whole ted Bill.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
I want to go somewhere that you know, they.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
Just before I played this VJ sound quickly like for
this season, would you rather have Aaron Rodgers or Justin
Fields leading your team?

Speaker 2 (19:28):
If I'm who anybody? Anybody?

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Okay, j They.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Just clearly didn't want Aaron Rodgers, by the way, Well
they're wrong, okay. It was Justin Fields in the same
draft class as Aaron Rodgers. What I'm a little confused.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
What does that matter? Answer the question?

Speaker 2 (19:49):
I never wanted Justin Fields as a free agent.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
I want to be a question you just said which
to Justin.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Fields, because I think Aaron Rodgers is a weasel turd.
I had nothing to do with them.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
He's terrible this year?

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Do we have he has the same amount of wins
that Justin Fields had last year and roughly the same
amount of games.

Speaker 5 (20:10):
It's just hey, I'm just checking the temperature on where
you're at with Russell.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Wilson, total garbage got six wins with the with the Steelers.
What do you think was gonna happen if they just
let Fields keep playing? He was gonna keep winning.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
You are so delusional sometimes like you will literally just
say anything.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
I kill you a truth?

Speaker 3 (20:31):
What's our first happen? Justin was gonna go win a
super Bowl? Obviously?

Speaker 2 (20:36):
Hey, if Russell Wilson win six games, anybody couldn't. Certainly
a winning quarterback like Fields could have kept going.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
All right?

Speaker 5 (20:42):
Well, speaking to Justin Fields, here's VJ. Hey, VJ thinks
Justin Field J he thinks he's legit and the Broncos
have quite the test coming up on Sunday in London.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
He is so talented, he's dangerous, you know, obviously with
his legs, he's a better runner in Jay and in
my opinion, true, he has a great arm. He's obviously
you know, bouncing around the teams. But you know, not
his fault. I mean, he's he's gonna see everybody's gone.
But he's capable of making big plays. And that's that's
scary for a coach. You know, it only takes one
play on defense to you know, to give up a

(21:14):
big play. You know, and they've got guys who do
those things that the bats playing water receivers a top
ten pick and the quarterbacks of special talent.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
So you know, we see the play our best ball
to win this NFL.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
It's no U it's no uh trap games or you know,
you know, easy games on the schedule.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
You know, play this is our goal each week. You
have to do that. Really, you're gonna say exactly all
that You're gonna hype up VJA as you're sitting here
giving the Jets absolutely zero percent chance of winning and you.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Have justin fields is your guy justin field eight.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
I mean, this is gonna be blowout. City will beat
them eleven out of ten times. But you know when
VJ says it, that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
How many interceptions has Justin Fields from the year.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
I don't know one one.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
How many takeaways do the Jets have?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Zero?

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Justin Fields is like, of fifty problems, he's problem number
fifty one for the.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Jets, maybe fifty.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
They have so many other issues. But but that was
the case with Fields in Chicago too. Well, what's the question, Dan?

Speaker 3 (22:17):
So stupid? Just you're so stupid like that? Oh, you're
so stupid. That was the problem for Justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
In Chicago defense.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
Justin Fields didn't contribute.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Huh do you remember Justin Fields for the Bears when
they should have beat the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
Yeah, And he was like, literally perfect, I do remember
very well.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
What is the question, Da?

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Well, I was kidding. How stupid are you?

Speaker 5 (22:40):
My question is what's the best thing the Broncos defense.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Can do to contain Justin Fields?

Speaker 5 (22:46):
I mean, are they Are you guys worried about Justin
Fields passing the ball down the field or you just
are you just focusing on his leg?

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Well, let's go through things. Is he a better runner
than Jalen Hurts?

Speaker 3 (22:56):
No, he's not.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
No, Oh, I think he.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Clear he's a more dangerous runner in space than Justin
Field or than Jalen Hurts. I'll give you that because
he's a he's faster and if you give him a seam,
he could be off for the races like that. So
that's true. Right, So he's got he's got potential for
a more yak type of guy. But he is not
a better runner than Jalen Hurts does have a Jalen
Hurts is phenomenal in short yardage. He's phenomenal and knowing

(23:22):
that he creates, he creates his plays. Whereas Justin Fields
I would compare him to like a Michael Porter junior
of runners, like he needs everybody else to do their
job for him to take off.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Then why did VJ get it so wrong there? Why you?
Why are you calling VJ a liar?

Speaker 3 (23:38):
He is being a very typical coach and hyping up
his opponent.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Okay, so he doesn't really, he's just that's just a
bunch of gobbly good coach speak. That's coach speak. He
didn't really mean it.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
You think Justin Fields is better than Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
I think he's a better runner than Jalen Hurts, and
I think he has a stronger arm than Jalen Hurts.
But that's not all it takes to be a quarterback
and feel, and Hurts is definitely a better quest quarterback,
much better than Justin Fields. But there's elements of being
a quarterback, physical elements that justin fields is better than
Hurts that.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
But I don't know what element I would pick what element.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
He's got a stronger arm and he's a better.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Runner's but it doesn't matter what if his arm is stronger,
If he's not better delivering the.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
Rock, you are correct, and that's more than one thing
that goes.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
So I would take Jaleen Hurts arm over Justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
That's fine, but it's not like Hurts or Fields cannot
get that ball down the field. He certainly can. And
if Garrett Wilson gets behind people and and Fields does
have time, then yeah, you have you have a lot
of quick strike ability. And yes, Breese Hall, if he
can get an opening, has shown explosion that's above average
and that can hurt you too. The problem and Field's

(24:44):
talked about it today, By the way, they can't finish.
They can't finish anything like it's it's they've been close,
You're right, they have been closed in a bunch of games,
but they can't figure it out, and it's not getting
better for them. It's getting worse for them because injuries
are cat up. You're a little dispirited because you're losing games, YadA, YadA, YadA.
I think the Jets would have been a much tougher

(25:05):
opponent a month ago than they are gonna be Sunday.
But and and Fields is gonna probably have a typical
justin Field's games. There's gonna be moments that look kind
of cool, and then he's just gonna, you know, keep going,
interception fumbled, I mean whatever. He's gonna screw it up
like he has because he's not a great quarterback. You're right,
he's not a great quarterback.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Right, we agree to agree?

Speaker 4 (25:25):
All right?

Speaker 2 (25:25):
Next up?

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Dan, sounds so easy. You know what? What took you
ten and a half minutes to say that?

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Yeah, you spin it out, gride out the time. Like
Joe Williams said, Hey, Lock keeps moving.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
I'll tell you who's taking more than ten minutes to
make a decision.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
That is Brown's head coach, Kevin Stefanski.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
He still has not how are they doing today?

Speaker 5 (25:44):
He still has not declared who will be the backup
quarterback to Dylan Gabriel.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
On Sunday for the Browns.

Speaker 5 (25:49):
But here is Shador in the locker room today talking
about that decision.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Answer on this yet, Well, I shouldn't have an answer.
I don't have an answer.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Just we don't know yet.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
If you're I'm sorry, did do you say just you
guys don't have the answer? Was implying that he has
the answer. Well, I just shouldn't have an answer, y'all.
I don't have an answer. I mean, we don't know
yet if you're going to be the number two.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
But how excited, how ready?

Speaker 1 (26:19):
How you know how great would that be for you
to have an opportunity to go out there and back
up doing in this game in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
Oh well, no, we're gonna make sure we do everything
we can to make sure doing ready for the game.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
So you know whatever that means.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
So each and every day, even when Joe was the
start of everything, you know, take prepare the right way
and be ready to know that you could get out there.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Any point in time.

Speaker 6 (26:39):
So you know, I'm I'm overly confident within myself, so
I know when I first got here, you know I'm
ready to play. But you know it's up to the
coaches and you know, whatever decision, you know, they make
them that.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
I'm fine with Tyler every every now and then I
feel bad for athletes because of how stupid reporters are.
Every now and then I catch myself of like like
having empathy for the athletes.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
So I'm curious what Park got to you. I'll tell
you what Park got me of that.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Well, I thought she was an idiot the way she
was asking those questions.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
First of all, the part that I like cringed at
was how exciting would that be? Back exactly how exciting
would that be to just you know, hold a clipboard?

Speaker 2 (27:18):
First of all, Philosophically, to me, the laziest way to
ask questions is the how questions. You hear it all
the time, and it's what reporters do when they really
can't they don't know what to say, They have no
idea really what to ask anybody, so they say how
how exciting would it be? She's literally asking Tyler, if
you were to parser words specifically, how exciting are you

(27:41):
to sit on the bench? What what is an athlete
seriously supposed to say to And she said how like
three different times.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
I've been waiting my whole life for this opportunity to
be like.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
What are you that is a reporter who does not
know what the hell she wants to ask when she
he really wants to ask. What she really wants to
ask is are you pissed off?

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Told you you'll rip every reporter except for your friends.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
I don't know her yet, so we'll see if we
can get to know each other.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
There was you know, you know, there was one yesterday
that you should have absolutely just ripped his smithery, and
you wouldn't do it enough.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
But I hate the howe questions though, And yes, you're right,
I hate the like I'm just gonna go along with
whoever I'm interviewing, and Matt did that you're talking about
Matt Smith, my buddy.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
I was.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Brian just gave up with the question because I've done
that too. Like if you ask a question and they're
just going to interrupt you in the middle of the question,
do you still fight through the question, like Troy Ranker,
do you just be like, Okay, I just give up
on the question, Like if you want to interrupt, I
don't even Yeah, but how this? How that? How you
feel about being a back at what the hell is
he supposed to say how do I how do I

(28:56):
get it? He should say, how do I get out
of Cleveland?

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Well, they're not going to make an announcement like we're
just gonna find out on game day, or you might
find out on Saturday night when they elevate Bailey's Appy
to fifty three. Although even if they do that, I
don't think that necessarily means anything because in today's NFL,
a lot of teams do carry three quarterbacks on the activity.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
You know, when you officially really the the ultimate deadline
is is it ninety minutes.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Before in active?

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Mm hmm, yeah, because you have to declare the quarterback,
so that that is you get to night.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
You're probably gonna find out an hour and a half
before they.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Get Probably, what do you think it's going to be?

Speaker 3 (29:30):
I think it's gonna be shuder.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Because of all the pressure or because why.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
I don't know, I mean, I guess the whole package. Probably,
I mean, Scott had an interesting take. You want to
get yourself fired if you're Kevin Stefanski. Elevate Bailey's appy
and see how that that fan base outrages. You know,
it's not a bad take at all. Like that that
fan base will turn their back on you if if
you pull off this one. Now it's one thing to
keep them buried, but now that you've traded away Joe Flacco,

(29:59):
if you bury him to as happy, they will they
will burn that place.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
You know, at no point when Orton was here, because
I think Brady Quinn was still on practice squad. I
think did Brady Quinn or whoever the third string was
get elevated above Tebo Tibo was always at least the backup,
you know, there was none of that.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
See what I really think is going on. I think
it's going to be shut or I think they know
it's going to be shit, or but they just want
to keep him in his place. They just want to
let him know, like, hey, you didn't earn this, you
just fell into this.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Do you think he's fallen short behind the scenes somehow,
like in the football things that you got to do
to be a leader.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
In that degree, I think it's reasonable to ask the question. Yes,
I think the buying thing was a big mistake. And
I'm not necessarily trying to imply that that means that
he's not studying hard, that he's not putting his work in.
But you know, if that's something that we saw publicly.
They didn't like what's going on internally. I mean, there's

(30:58):
no way the organization looked at that mind thing and
they were like, yeah, we're so glad you said that.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Right, you could have your own opinion out there about
what you think about and Prime tweeted that he liked it.
But come on, everybody, be real, what professional organization is
going to support that? Zero is the answer.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Zero?

Speaker 2 (31:21):
And you know what's funny about that too. The timing
is crazy because this Joe Flacco trade was not their idea.
They weren't shopping them. It was the Bengals that came
calling and they had to make a quick decision or
the Bengals. My guess is the Bengals were going to
be on to somebody else. Who knows who, right, but
like they were clearly going to get somebody to start
this week. That's a fun one. If it wasn't Flacco,

(31:43):
who do you think they were going to go after?
Meaning they probably gave the Browns like ten minutes to
make your minds up or we're moving on.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Yeah, I don't know. It seems like Kirk Cousins would
be the best available backup quarterback in the NFL mile
but his is obviously very complex because.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
The correct and Atlanta probably hasn't given up the season,
and they, hey, who knows what Pennix they may, I
mean if.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
If from Atlanta's point of view, like I'm sure there's
been teams that have said, hey, we'll trade for Kirk,
but you got to pick up the salary, right, so
you got to pick up ninety percent of the forty
or whatever it is, right, And they're like, well, if
we're going to pay that money, we'd rather just pay
the money for him to be on the team.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
But you might have The Bengals are like, all right,
you got ten minutes that we're calling the Broncos about
Stidham or Ellinger or we're calling so and so about
who's he? What's it right? I mean, there's a collection
of other guys like that, All sorts of guys out
there like it.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
Right, Russ, Jameis Wentz, the sure.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Great examples. Great Jamis would be right exactly, We're we're
going to do this. And the Browns had to sit
there and be like, well, a we're gonna get something
or nothing. So this wasn't their plan, Like Shader was
never their plan. He was never their plan to be.
You know, in this position, Flacco was going to be
the backup, Tyler. Flaco didn't get demoted, he got traded.

(32:57):
So now they have to adjust on the fly to
a guy they weren't even considering being a backup who
they don't really like. Yep, and here we go and
here we are. Well, it'll be quite dramatic and we'll
see it already is because they just didn't, you know,
announce him in the first place. Our guy Chad Brown
had a really funny story, Tyler, and I don't know
if you can relate to it or not, but the

(33:18):
concept is not when do you know you're done as
a player, like the phone doesn't ring anymore? But when
do you know? And I don't know if you ever
got there, because you retired on your own terms, But
when do you know as a player that you don't
have it anymore? While you're playing that moment? The story

(33:40):
is hysterically you hear it next, Oh, Turan Duran, There
you go, Dan, all English bands, Dan Dives's toe in
the eighties pool. Well, I give you guys a nickel
if you can tell me anything about Duran Duran.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Give me a second.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
You can't look it up.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Oh, I bet there's a dude named Duran.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
There is not?

Speaker 3 (34:09):
Well, why are they named Duran Duran?

Speaker 2 (34:12):
I don't know dudes? Duran there is not. Simon Lebon
Jonathan Taylor was the guitar player. But I do not
know what the origin story is of Duran Duran. It's
a good, good question. I don't know, no dumb question.
How they come up with Duran Duran. It's a favorite
band of Ivan Ivan High School football. Tune in tomorrow

(34:34):
night at seven o'clock our high school football game. Connor
cap and Justin Adams. There you go, former teammate of
Tyler Plumbus.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Right, Justin's a phenomenal even being.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
He is the best. I love Justin too. That's cool man.
And they'll have the call in the top.

Speaker 3 (34:51):
We know the answer, by the way, when you're done
with this.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
Sure Top four a clash between number one Dakota Ridge
and number seven Heritage High School Football announced it Sports
Radio brought to you by sport Clips. Proud supporters of Chassa. Yeah,
what's the origin story of Duran Duran?

Speaker 3 (35:07):
Duran Duran? Ke the music Dan spelled d U R
A N. Yeah, name themselves after a character from the
nineteen sixties sci fi film Barbarella.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Starring Jane Fonda.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Wow you know that, Yeah, because the character.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
The movie poster is one of the sexiest posters of
all time.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
Well, let's see if you know the character Barbarella, she
was not her.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
The character doctor Duran, Duran spelled with a D at
the end.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Oh interesting, okay, is.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
A bad scientist played by Milo o'sha.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
Don't know him, do not know, don't know anything about
the movie. I just know it from the movie poster Barberella.
Jane Fonda. Dane Fonda was quite the fox back in
the day, no doubt about it. Look the look up
the movie poster from Barbarella. If you know, don't mind
if I didn't, if you got timehem, don't want to
interrupt you as you're driving, But yeah, Jane Fond was.

(36:03):
It's kind of like if you think of Princess Leah's
sexy outfit with job hunt, I see it. It's along
that route. You got it up there? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's like a cartoon version of it too, Like the
photo photo is even better. But you know, there you
go all right, we're gonna have legging on with the boys.

(36:24):
Nate Andy here in about twelve minutes from London. No
idea if he's going to be in a pub, but
all the latest news for the Broncos. We're trying to
figure out, like you know, compelling reasons why this is
going to be a close game, and you know, any
given Sunday they get paid to The line did go down,
that is true. It went from seven and a half
to six and a half.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Not a huge drop, but a drop, a drop.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
That did happen. Opening night for the Avalanche tonight and
kind of a combo meal. I'll be out at number
thirty eight for Thursday Night football, but the AS game
will be on as well, with a Tollamore, Drew grab
Adu and a brew and we have a autographed Terrell
Davis TD football to give away. So that's number thirty

(37:07):
eight in Rhino tonight at six and then the ASKT
going at seven and on Altitude TV at six here
at six thirty, so we're all about the AS to
night and then going over to Ballerina after I'm done
there at number thirty eight and catch the end of
the AS game. Should be a fun night home opener.
Only six months to go. That's it, baby, Game one
and forty one at home. Pal only only forty games

(37:30):
at home after this one, so you know, tune in
Miko Randon here on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
By the way, that you gonna be weird when Marty
gets paid more than Miko U.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
That will be fast. I don't think that's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
I bet it does.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Well, things are going crazy there for a little bit,
and then the Icle deal sort of you know, got
he's still getting thirteen points something, but at least it
was more in line with what we were expecting. Right well,
to make David deal really McDavid crazy, like that's it.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
He stayed the same.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
He didn't get it right, I gotcha. He likes Edmonton.
I don't get it. I've been to Edmonton. I okay.
He he is like a doorknob though personality wise, have
you ever heard him talk or been around Connor seeing
like interviews with Connor McDavid. He really may be the
most boring dude I've ever run into in hockey. Doorknob

(38:25):
personality so perfect guy that likes the northern lights of
Edmonton to just settle in on Tyler, our guy, Chad
Brown had a funny story. Chad always tells a story
about how he was cut. He was standing in line
in the lunchroom with the Patriots working special teams, and
Belichick came up, eating like blueberries out of a bowl
and just said, Chad, We're just gonna have to let
you go. Did you ever hear that?

Speaker 3 (38:45):
Yeah? Yeah, he tells it, very funny.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
He does. I didn't realize. Chad had another story about
like when he knew he was done on the field.
So here is his story from this morning.

Speaker 7 (39:02):
It was the reality of the situation. Year fifteen. We
were playing a Monday night game. I was in New
England and I was being blocked by Lorenzo Neil Pro
Bowl fullback, and the ref through the flag because I
thought Lorenzo was holding me. After a bit of a

(39:24):
referee conference, they picked up the flag and announced on
Monday night TV, we're picking up the flag. Number ninety eight.
Was simply overwhelmed.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
Oh my god, oh my, how about that? Simply over well? Wow, okay,
Chad didn't know. We thought about it. We had a
conference of the of the referees here and no holding
that dude just got his butt whipped.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Chad actually screwed up his story just slightly. But this
is what Al Michaels and John Madden. That's right. The
Madden game was named after a real person. And here's
here's the actual call of that moment.

Speaker 7 (40:09):
There was no Vowell on the player was not a
hole that the defender was just overpowered.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
The defender was overpowered so much.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
It looked like a hole. Wow. Wow, I mean that's good,
that's really funny.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Just overpowered.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
Yeah. Yeah, No, It's easy to laugh at with Chad
because he's one of the all time greats. I mean
I always talk like to me, Chad Brown was Von
Miller before Von Miller, Like that's the type of player
that Chad Brown was so to be in year fifteen.
To have that happened to.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Him, Okay, it brings up the moment, like are there
moments when you're out on the field and something happens
and you know, this is probably the end of the
road for me.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
You know, I was fortunate that I retired my own
terms and I did have job offers on the table,
but I had a moment in the Super Bowl year
but I was actually playing for the Falcons. Oh, yeah,
I was. I was playing for the Falcons, and I'm
getting warmed up for the game, and you know, I

(41:19):
got this routine I got. I got the foam roller,
and you know, I'm rolling out my back and you know,
just getting loosed up, get everything rocket, you know, just
getting everything oiled up right. I'm on the phone roller,
and I swear to you, my back spasmed like you
would not believe, like full on, I'm screaming in pain
in the middle of the locker room. People are like

(41:40):
running over to me, like thinking I'm having a heart
attack or something. I got hurt on a phone roller.
I didn't get warming up. That would have been better.
That would have been like if I got hurt during
warm ups, that would have been that would have been
so much.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
But you got hurt preparing to warm up.

Speaker 3 (41:55):
I got hurt on a foam roller. I was rolling
out on a pham roller and I stayed too long
in one position and I am screaming in pain. I
go into the trainers. I limp into the training room,
like guys, I can't, I can't move. I can't. I
can't move my back. What did you do? The phone

(42:17):
roller got the best to be like that, that damn
phone roller. They put me on that table, they injected
me with Lord and knows what. I don't know, but
somehow they did get my back to loosen up to
the degree. But I do remember sitting there thinking, oh
my god, my time is running out in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
We At least you didn't have it announced on That
would be great if the referee was.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
It wasn't even a hard phone roller. It was one
of the soft ones.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
You think every athlete has that moment before they're done,
the moment before the moment right right there has to
be some sort of tipping point, some
