Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Columbus Hastings and DMAC on demand. Listen to
PhD Live every weekday from noon to three on Altitudes
Sports Radio ninety two five and on the Altitude Sports
Radio app.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
There's a coacher man, good night football.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
You turned off football, football football at alt Sports Radio.
I know I am excited.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
Doing a little show here, but then you got you
and Cracker and Rachel doing the play by play.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah, no, I'm bossed.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I'm definitely excited about it. You know, I'm I'm gonna
have fun. Go Eagles. Okay, so you can't go wrong
if you say go Eagles, because both teams are the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
We got that right, that figured out.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
So we got a little Eagle on Eagle crime going
on between Pine Creek and Valor Christian. You know, I'm
chatting up with coach the second I walked in. He goes,
I know you're gonna be rooting for me to fail.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
I'm sure you'll be completely objective. No, no, no, but I
can't call it.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
I can't wait for him to be backed up on
his own four yard line. Yeah, thirty eight seconds to
go in the first half and he throws three passes,
so I just crush him.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
I can't wait. I can't wait to watch it.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
And it's great that you guys are doing the game
itself and it's on TV, and it's on the app,
and it's on the radio, like it's it's here. Here
we go football. It really is here. And then tomorrow
here on ninety two five Iowa State Kansas State from Ireland.
That's at ten o'clock in the morning. The Rapids play
tomorrow too, but we also have Fresno State at Kansas
(01:35):
at four o'clock on nine fifty. Well, ow Tyler, hear
what you're wearing your buffs. You look jacked up. He
looks like you're you look like you're ready to go
my buff shirt, ready to get out to practice. Yeah,
so you're.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Following the buffs at all. You kind of keeping tabs
on whatever they got going.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
You know, uh, not really minimally. I don't know what
they're gonna do with the quarterback situation. I think that
they're gonna play both quarterbacks throughout the season here at
some point, well probably, I think it's gonna be part
of the game play. It was my previous understanding, Okay,
but that was a long time ago that I was
told that it was kind of early on in training camp.
(02:12):
I mean, college football is here though. We got college
football this weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
It's awesome. Yeah, I'm not sure, what's you know, it's weird.
It's different. You know obviously with no dur no no
Travis with the Buffs, no Shiloh either, but.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
You do have five star recruit in the quarterback group.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely absolutely, and you have what a
lot of people think with Jordan seen is a left
tackle that will go high in the first round whenever
he comes out.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Or saying it should be like top five dude, how
about that?
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Uh, that's awesome. It's a great way to start. So
I'm I'm excited for all of it for sure. I'm
as excited for college football this year. Last year was
really special. I mean, we we did understand what we had.
I think we knew. It was just like, how is
it all going to come together? But I think, you know, boy,
that season last year for SeeU, we're going to look
(03:00):
back on that as one of the greatest CU football
seasons of all time. You know, if you don't get
oh man, you think about that Kansas game there, Tyler
right like and just mm hmm, like they had their opportunities.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
They did, they did, they could have.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
They were right there where Arizona State eventually got right
like they were not.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
That game killed man, And that was one of those
games that you go up against a team that can
run the ball when you can't. Yeah, and they just
controlled the clock.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
It was crazy. Six possessions. It's all they had and
that's all they needed. But but but still, the excitement
of the season itself and the way the Baylor game
ended and the performance of Travis Hunter winning the Heisman,
it's like, yeah, I actually kind of can't believe it's
we're good to go, Like, here we go next Friday.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
And I saw Georgia techingtown.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
I saw Coach Prime instituted a dress coachelassroom.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Did you think about that?
Speaker 3 (03:49):
I thought it was great.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
I do.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
I thought it was great. You know, no no slides
in the classroom, right, No, no Tyler bro tanks, no
hoodies no, no no hoodies, non sunglasses, no headphones in
if you're if you got an online class, like you
can't have your shirt off or anything stupid or distracted
like that. No walking around. I thought it's great.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Well I did say front row, but you can't. You
can't be at the back of the room. Can't be
at the back of the room. You know we would
when I was there, you know, we weren't disrespectful with
our attire, but we would all just show up and
team issued geared and wear the same sweats every single day.
But I think it's cool that he's instituted at dress
code for the classroom.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
I don't know, man, I'm excited. I think it's fine
to have a dress that's fine, you know.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
I mean, I don't know that you'd qualify it, classify
it as a dress code, more so as don't be disrespectful.
That's basically what he's saying. Don't don't be disrespectful, jerk.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
What's wrong with that?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Ah?
Speaker 4 (04:53):
I would expect the same out of uh, you know,
anybody who's going there to college, right, you know, it's college,
it ain't high school.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
You're not forced to be there, right Like.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
You got to figure out what you're doing there and
why you're there and go from there. So it's been
cool talking to my son, who's now I actually don't
know what year he is, but he's he's you know,
on campus and going to the classes, and it's just
another like reminder of how awesome CEU actually is, just
another like this place is fantastic.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
How many how many smesters does he do?
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, that's a great question. I'm not I'm not exactly sure.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
You're five and we don't know how many semesters?
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Oh yeah, it's you know, some thing's transfer. Some things
are still waiting to get. I mean, he's he's probably
in it for a good year and a half. Oh wow,
But depending on what he wants to do, you know,
online over the summer a bit dipped, right, but he'll
probably have his degree. I would say locked down by
(05:52):
December of next year. Okay, something like that. But it's
it's you know, no rush though, in all honesty, and
he pursued being a college athlete and it played itself
out and you know, it's, uh, no rush.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
You love paying those bills every month.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
I never thought with two kids two and a half
years apart, i'd be dealing with college stuff for a
decade Tyler. But but but whatever, you know, everybody finds
their way, and you know it's funny. Just quickly as
a transfer student, I thought, oh, he'll be by no, no, no.
Tons of people transfer and tons of older people transfer
in there, and you know he loves where he's living
(06:28):
and it's all good.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
So it's it's college.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Like, how do you beat college? College is the best man?
College is the absolute good life?
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Man, Yeah, good good life in college? Holy cow, you
want to talk about living the good life? Oh? Somehow
in college you can make about three hundred bucks stretch
the entire month, and you felt like you were living
like a king.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
Plus you're surrounded by kids theoretically who could all be
your best friends and you can hang out with and
do stuff with. When when do you ever get that
the rest of your life? That's just it just never happens, man.
So for all of it, I'm excited for CSU as well.
I'm not really sure what they got cooking. We'll find
out as it goes. And I'm not really in touch
with air Force or Wyoming, but you know, see you
(07:10):
and CSU, best of luck.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
We get it going.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Uh, what's a successful season for Prime? What do you
think is going to be different for Prime in year three?
Speaker 2 (07:18):
If anything?
Speaker 3 (07:20):
I mean, I would imagine that the offense is going
to have a legitimate running game. You bring in a
Hall of Famer to coach your running backs. You no
longer have got the wide receivers that you have. I
mean it's not just losing Travis. I mean you lost.
You lost four wide receivers that are playing in the
NFL right now, right, Like that's a lot, dude. So
you recommit to the running game, and I think that
(07:42):
there will be a legitimate commitment there. Look, I don't
think you can break in a dude with a gold
jacket and say, hey, come coach our running backs. We're
never going to give you. Give your guys the ball.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yeah, how do you study high school football?
Speaker 5 (07:54):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (07:54):
It's hard. I mean how do.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
You How do you know?
Speaker 4 (07:58):
How do you know in the names, like the the
real basic stuff. Well, Craman, we worry about that.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
No, I mean I want to be respectful of the
kids because I know what that's like, you know, for
the parents. Look, let's keep it real. Of the people
that are gonna watch this game on TV or family
and friends, right, and so they want to hear their
names called. And that's a cool moment to have your
name called on TV. So you you try to do
your best and get that done. You beat with the coaches,
(08:26):
and you do coaches calls and you ask them for
they're too deep. Some coaches are more prepared than others,
you know, it's amazing. And how many coaches don't even
have and I've called a bunch of high school football
games over the years, it's amazing how many coaches don't
even have like a too deep that's like listed on
a spreadsheet or something. Oh really, And you're just like, okay,
(08:47):
well can you can we talk through it here? They're like, yeah,
number fifty seven. They can't remember their own kids' names,
you know, not with either of these guys this weekend.
I'm not I'm not a city way with that about
either of these coaches. But it's amazing how just this
unorganized a lot of this stuff is.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Wow, what's up Pine Creek? What do we know about
Pine Crew?
Speaker 4 (09:08):
It feels like we've talked a lot about Valor obviously
because of coach Sandford, but.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Yeah, Pine Creek, I mean, they've been really good for
a long time now. They've gone through a lot of
coaching changes for a program that has been as successful
as they've been, so they keep going. They keep running
through head coaches every year or two it feels like,
but I believe they're ranked number seven in the state
this year, and all right, yeah, they've got high expectations.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
So you got coach Sandford there at Valor, you got
Jake Heaps at Legend of course, the legendary Dave Logan
doing his thing. Gonna be fun, yere, fun year for
this stuff, man. Yeah, So we're gonna have a bunch
of the games on throughout the course of the year,
and we kick it off tonight.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Love it.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
We're getting Scott's up and run and he's out in
Grand Junction and just a couple of little I see you, buddy,
I see we're being patient, but I know you are too.
But we get some technical things that we're trying to
hash out. So this guy is on the show today,
and we actually have through our pals at d NVR,
a little report on what the Nuggets are doing in
(10:13):
terms of summertime basketball, so that'll be fun to get to.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
We saw Jokic beat up.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Luca and kind of a meaningless game, but you know,
we got our eyeballs on that, so that'll be right
around the corner. We had our hockey bros out added
at Meadow Hills when I moved to Colorado, Tyler South
Atchison Way, which is a stone's throw from the third fairway.
I wasn't on the course, but if I like walked
through a neighborhood and like another neighborhood that was probably
(10:42):
like a four minute walk from the third fairway at
Meadow Hills. So I think it's a hoot that they're
in my old neighborhood of Aurora where I lived for
so many years, my old old neighborhood where I moved
in ninety nine. So I think that's awesome. They were
out there in the big golf tournament. So we'll have
some hockey stuff on later to day. Joe Sachek and
Peter Forstburg were on with the the Morning Guys too,
(11:04):
so all sorts of cool stuff to do. Meanwhile, it's
more reaction about the Velay trade, and you see that
Brian Robinson got dealt, and uh, this Vley trade is
looking better and better when we when you compare what
the Broncos got comparatively to some of one of these
other trades that are going on here.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
So impressive, impressive for the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
Any second thoughts whatsoever, any uh, any sort of like
misgivings or.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
No, I what's going on? I think if the trade
value wasn't so significant, this would have been a debatable trade.
I mean, say you just traded Von Vley away for
a fifth rounder. You could have had a very healthy,
reasonable debate on both sides whether you should have kept
the guy or whether you should not have kept the guy.
But based off the value that you got, you got
(11:54):
the fourth rounder, you got the seventh rounder, so you
recouped your initial investment of a seventh round, and you
got a very high fourth round pick. Because the Saints
are gonna suck this thing is It's just an absolute
no brainer. You got more for Devon Vley than you
got for Jerry Dudy. You got more for Devon Bayley
than the Steelers got for George Pickets. Like, it's it's nut.
(12:17):
I would question the Saints like is that really the like?
And I love Devon Vailey, but based off how much
you gave up, are you telling me that was the
most talented wide receiver in the NFL you could get
for a fourth and a seventh round pick.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Do you think they were trying to do the Broncos
some sort of favor?
Speaker 3 (12:35):
No, God, No, right, nobody's doing favors for anybody. Why
would they do the Broncos a favor?
Speaker 2 (12:42):
They wouldn't, you know.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
I was listening to Raj and coach they were having
I think they were just poking fun, having fun about
you know, feeling bad for getting the first round or
from the Broncos for Sean Payne basically and Bradley Chubb.
But that that's I know, they were joking around.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
No, you you wouldn't nothing.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
I mean, it's good that you have good relationships, and
Sean probably has a very good relationship with Mickey Loomis.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
But no, I love to friends.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
I loved I loved my best friends.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
I think it's a riot. So hey man, it's awesome.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
And tomorrow the game is early, by the way, eleven
am tomorrow, so yikes, which is fine, you know, you know,
sort of just get it out of the way. And
cuts are already being made in the NFL because we
had games last night, so coaches are already making some
decisions and cutting guys. They have until Tuesday at two
o'clock to get it done, but most teams try to,
(13:32):
you know, do it as quickly as possible. Do you
see any see any surprise vet prize vet cuts A
little echo there, it's probably Scotty.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
I don't know if that's yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Do you see any surprise vet cuts for the Broncos?
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Boy, surprise vet cuts? I don't know. I mean, I
mean we called out the Veley one a while back.
We don't have we don't have the team.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
De Barney Mathis, Date Atkins, I'm sorry. Nate Akins is
definitely making the team. Sean went on and on about
Nate Atkins.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yes, told us he's making the team. He did, Yeah
to Mary Mathis, I find that unlikely, asked Meg.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Yep, just trying to think of another name that people
might know.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Its stretch man.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
I don't know. I mean, you know, we we did
talk yesterday about what opens up for the Broncos now
that you did trade away uh Devon Veley, and we
kind of landed on, well, it makes it easier to
carry four running backs. Well, you know that's true, and
and and I still think that's probably the most likely
outcome that you just end up carrying four running backs
because now you've got that luxury. But it does also
(14:47):
open up the door for a potential undrafted guy or
potential underdog wide receiver if you still want to carry six,
because wide receivers are the core of your special teams,
a walking Davis for example. Yeah, that's not a cut,
but would be a surprise of her making the fifty three.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
All right, we are trying to get things going with Scott.
We will get that going. In a second. We have
Eric Dickerson with some fun. I love the conspiracy theories,
so we got some Eric Dickerson Shadur Sanders conspiracy theories.
And it's not just the mayor of Loan Tree that's
speaking out about bringing the Broncos to Loan Tree. Details
(15:27):
on that coming up next. I was reading the Denver Post,
and you know, Mike Liss did this whole like, hey,
the mayor of Loan Tree wants the Broncos there, Like, oh, okay,
you no kidding. And then the article today or yesterday
rather than the Post was the Douglas County commissioners they
(15:52):
wanted to. They wanted to apparently there's three of them
and they're making statements now and they met with Demani
Leach and all right, let me read you what they
said here. It's pretty funny. Douglas County is open for
business and proud of our reputation for intentional strategic partnerships
(16:18):
that strengthen our economy without raising taxes, whether that's welcoming
a Fortune five hundred enterprise, supporting a local family owned business,
or exploring the opportunity to host Colorado's most iconic team.
They point out some of the arguments we've actually made
just minutes from Dove Valley and Centennial Airport. That's good
(16:38):
for rich people with unmatched access, infrastructure and convenience for players, fans,
and executives alike. All Right, I love this final article
on the post to whoever wrote I think it's Parker
Gabriel and Luca Evans and who's a new guy? But
a nice dude because it's snarky at the very end
of the article. More than eighteen months Douglas County commissioners
(17:06):
slathered some complimentary and self congratulatory frosting on this week's
invitation to the to the Broncos. Quote, the Broncos deserve
the very best, and in Douglas County, that's exactly what
they will find. Okay, So there you go. The politics
(17:27):
of the Broncos in the new stadium location.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Yeah, I mean, listen, they're gonna fight hard for it.
I'm sure that they really do desperately want it, and
you know, we'll we'll see what ends up happening. Whoever
cave's the most is gonna have the best chance of
getting them. The Broncos have already spent one hundred and
twenty five million dollars on property in Denver, so they
they've got a reason to want to make that work.
(17:50):
I'm not saying that they can't unload those properties at
a different time or do something else with it down
the road. So it feels to me like Loan Tree
would have to come up with an insane amount of
incentives to push that thing over the top to get
that built here.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
That will be one of the that decision way.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Which if you follow the line in there about without
raising taxes. Ye, now that complicates it because if we're
going to be the incentive, if we're going to pay
for everything, we're going to give you the water, we're
going to give you the sewage, we're going to build
the infrastructure. Because you know, they're really starting from scratch
at either location. The only difference is you got to
(18:35):
bulldoze a bunch of stuff down at down in Denver,
but there is no infrastructure Loan Tree that is there
for it right now. It's just land. So they got
to get all that to it. So if you provide
all that, well, how do you provide all that without
raising the taxes?
Speaker 2 (18:50):
I don't know, not sure.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
It is fascinating, man. You know Loan Tree itself, it's
you know, it's population is fifteen thousand. It's aye else
small place. It just is kind of an intro. I
mean we're hearing Lone Tree right now, park Meto small
and I don't know if you're familiar with I twenty
five Cabela's is Lone Tree that's right alongside the road.
I mean, what else stands out to see at the
end of the E line other than that. You know,
(19:14):
it's probably an area that I'm gonna guess Tyler, not
many people are really all that familiar about because you
probably blow by it on your way to Castle Rock
or the Springs and you don't even think twice about it.
If you probably have no idea whatsoever that you've been
going through Lone Tree likely for years and years and years,
you probably just think of it as Parker and Highland's
ranch rightfully.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
So.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
So it is fascinating when such a big project is
part of like a relatively small town.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Is none of this is gonna dip over into Parker
because that's where this whole conversation about we haven't heard
anything about Parker's involvement in this thing. If where the
location is that they want to build it, it's close.
I mean the the line to Parker. If you go
on Bridgegate, go underneath the highway, you head east on RidgeGate. Yeah,
it's only about two and a half miles until you
hit that Parker Welcome to Parker size.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
My buddy arn Anderson lives in that Meridian sort of area.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
He's like, that's all Parker.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
Well it is, but he says that there's a lot
of debate about, you know, where they're going to put
the lines and how they're going to divide things up
and this that the other thing. So I don't like, okay,
all right, whatever, but but yeah, there's a lot of
open space there.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
The location is the.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
Argument for it is that you have the intersection of
E four seventy C four seventy twenty five, and you
have light rail stops that are already built in right there,
So none of that has to be developed.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
It's all you know, that's there.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
The other argument I've heard is fifty percent of the
season ticket holders come from south of where the stadium.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Is right now, I mean fifty come from north.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
No, no, no, I mean it's fifty percent come west, northeast,
travel from wherever.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
You know, that sort of thing.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
And then you have the impact of well, the state,
the facility itself in Colorado Springs, and blah blah blah
blah blah. It's a serious topic though. Man, there's there's
I mean hundreds of millions of dollars on the line
here with the economics and the growth of these places.
And you know, we are going to see a development
(21:17):
around Ball Arena that we've seen plans for it's out
there in the public, which is gonna be awesome. I mean,
it is going to be incredible. What is going to
be built in years to come around Ball Arena and
Burnham Yards is I don't know, Tyler, I don't know.
I mean, can this You've grown up here your whole life,
last thoughts about this, but but do you think we
(21:38):
can develop in the next decade too? Kind of brand
new downtown Denvers.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Yeah for sure. I mean build it and they will
come that that's just the reality. You build that new
stadium with the new city that goes around it. Sure, Honestly,
what ball what Ks is doing is far more ambitious
than anything else in my opinion, because that's an entirely
new city that is kind of unrelated to their their
(22:07):
sporting enterprises. That that's just a true real estate development project,
whereas the Broncos would be more focused around the stadium.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Yeah, it's awesome. What was in mind?
Speaker 4 (22:17):
So exciting place to be here man in Denver? A
lot of development around the two sports teams and this
announcement or wherever.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
I have no idea when they have to make their
minds up about this. But now that the facility over
at you know of where the Broncos are, boy, is
that coming around quickly? Like you you can see where
Oh okay, I get it. I see where this is
going to be, you know, open here relatively shortly. Yeah, Yeah,
(22:45):
there's still from what I was told, training camp is
still gonna be a little best up kind of like
it was this year.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
But it should be done gosh.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Yeah, sometime during the season I think next year. So
that's it's an awesome what they're doing is incredib so.
But but all of that, none of that's for the public.
All of that there's there's no stores or infrastructure, anything
else like, that's just all football, football football. With the
new Broncos Stadium wherever it is, You're right, it'll be
a whole new city, you know around Ballerina will be
(23:16):
a new city. It'll it'll redefine if they go to
Burnham Yards, what the city of Denver even is. It'll
totally redefine, you know, what we consider Denver. So we'll see,
we'll see how it goes. All right, Hey, you got
that stuffed in from Eric Dickerson. Eric Dickerson, you're ready
for a conspiracy theory on this one out for Tyler.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
Holy that was about a decade.
Speaker 6 (23:42):
Eric Dickerson on Shader Sanders Can I'll tell you as
much here what and what I heard from someone that's
in the NFL that the NFL put it told other
don't draft him, do not draft him. We're gonna make
hi We're gonna make an example out of him. And
this came from a very good source, A very good source,
and he said that, I won't say who. Somebody called
(24:03):
the Cleveland Browns and said, don't do that draft really, yep,
draft him. Don't don't. Don't do that because they won't
go drafted either.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
They wouldn't gonna drafted.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Okay, I'm a little confused by that. I gotta listen
to that.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Man.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Well, what he was saying at the end, he said
it backwards, but what he was trying to say at
the end was don't listen to that. You go ahead
and draft him.
Speaker 6 (24:23):
Okay, one more time, and I'll tell you this much here,
what I and what I heard from someone that's in
the NFL that the NFL put it told of the
don't draft him, do not draft him. We're gonna make up,
we're gonna make an example out of him. And this
came from a very good source, a very good source.
And he said that, I won't say who. Somebody called
the Cleveland Browns and said, don't do that draft really yep,
(24:46):
draft him, don't don't. Don't do that because they won't
go drafted either.
Speaker 5 (24:48):
They wouldn't gonna draft it.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Okay, Yeah, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna have a hard
time buying that one. So you're telling me that somebody
from the NFL league office called the Cleveland Browns and
they're like, hey, you should draft Sdor Sanders. They were like, yes, sir, yep,
we're gonna use our pick the exact way that you
want us to use it. Yes, sir, no problem, we'll
draft him.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Now.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Somebody called us and told us to do it.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
I could play a conspiracy theory game with you a
little bit. Sure what if?
Speaker 4 (25:19):
As it was going on in the TV coverage, everybody
was thank you appropriate. Hey man, this does not look
good on us because there's no reasonable reason to do this.
And Goodell picks up the phone and leans on the
Browns a little bit, and Jimmy haslam and says, listen,
gott do me a solid here, man.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Why why do I gotta do you solid?
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Listen?
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Let some other team do you as solid. I'm Roder Goodell,
You're why do I have to do you a solid?
Jimmy the Cleveland Browns. I understand, Roger, not a good
look for the league right now, not my problem. You
can call somebody else.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
But what do you guys got going there?
Speaker 3 (26:02):
And well, we got four quarterbacks actually we got five
if you include to Sean Watson.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
So is one more going to kill you?
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Listen, Roger or Jimmy, just do me the solid and uh,
I'll help you out with something in the future.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Yeah, I mean there does new stadium?
Speaker 5 (26:23):
What do you guys need?
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Well, there definitely had to be a quick, quick pro
quo in there. If if you're telling me that if
the NFL called me, you better be giving me something.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Significant, you freak up a good point, like like like
what's cool?
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Like cool?
Speaker 3 (26:38):
You're telling me that this looks bad on the NFL.
I don't care, not my problem. Call somebody else, see
if they'll do it for you.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Yeah, I don't know what they would get back there.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
You go, Eric Dickerson, though he blabbing it away, listen,
the whole thing is confounding and doesn't seem to make
a lot of sense. I don't know why they drafted him.
I have no idea why they draft It doesn't make
it does not make any sense.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Because they had four Pentos in the garage, but they
didn't have any.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
That they really loved, just stock piling them up.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Yeah, at some point one of these cars has got
to run.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
I'm throwing darts of dartboards. We'll see maybe.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Maybe, I mean, listen, do I think that there was
collusion with Shedur Sanders. I mean I think that that's
a that's a tricky word, like like true collusion would
mean what Eric Dicker said is saying there the NFL said, hey,
you're not allowed to draft him right now. That would
be some serious collusion. Yeah, I'm not gonna go that far.
(27:44):
Do I think that there was a whole lot of
group thing going on?
Speaker 5 (27:47):
Hell?
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Yes, do I think that there was probably a bad
interviewer or two that got around the league, and everybody's like,
I int touch of that. You're gonna be the one
that touches that.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
I in touch at that.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
We all know the same stuff around here, so I'm
not gonna be the one to touch Is that? Like
I could buy that for sure, But to have this
coming from the league office, No, as Ocho would say, child, please.
Speaker 4 (28:09):
Yeah, you're right, I mean, it's but they're probably the
interviews are probably terrible. They probably talked amongst each other.
There probably weren't that many teams. I mean, how many
teams could possibly be in the mix for Sadur in
the first place. Six or seven, it's not that many,
not everybody. I mean, most teams are set. Most teams
(28:29):
are fine. I mean we could probably count them. Throw
the Browns in there obviously, who else, Saints, maybe, Raiders,
maybe who else? Okay, fine, Giants, anybody else. We'll just
throw two more teams in there that we don't even know.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Let's see. I mean, you know, you get sideways on
six teams. I mean, yeah, what else is there?
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Yep?
Speaker 4 (28:48):
You know, in terms of other quarterbacks, I mean, the
Titans wanted Cam Warn not Sedure. Okay, hey, you're the
first pick, you get to do whatever you want. Then
it kind of goes from there. But like, this is
where I always get stuck. Why in the world would
the Browns take Tyler Dylan Gabriel in the third round
instead of Shader?
Speaker 5 (29:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
I mean, I they legitimately thought that he was the
best one on the board, but they weren't that in
love with him.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
Do you think there would have been any kind of
serious negative ramifications for the NFL off Schadura wasn't drafted.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
At all further than what already happened. Yeah, what's the difference?
Fifth round or undrafted what's the difference.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
It's all pretty bad per quarterback, it's not great. I
don't know.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Interesting conspiracy theory though, But they're starting Joe Flaco where.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
He totally lost me, like you might have been able
to convince me that the NFL just had total group
think going on. Matter of fact, you don't have to
convince me. I actually I think that there was group
think going on. But where you lose me is when
you say somebody from the league office calls up the Browns.
They're like, hey, we need you to pick them.
Speaker 5 (30:00):
Problem.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
You know, we all have got somebody picks, but we're gonna,
we're gonna, We're gonna do that for you because somebody
called us and said that that's who we should pick.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Now, what is the upside for the Browns? Well, they
if they were being forced to do it, or was
suggested that, I mean.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
If you want to go total conspiracy, they are building
a new stadium. I don't know. Maybe somehow that there
was a promise made of we'll help you with whatever
on the stadium. I don't know, but I mean I
don't believe it.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
I mean, that's gotta be it.
Speaker 5 (30:27):
Though.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
What else is there?
Speaker 3 (30:31):
All right, Jimmy will help you move the team out
of the city.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Does he want to move it out of Does he
want to get it out of Uh? It's like to
go where where do you go in Ohio?
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Anywhere? I'll go to San Diego?
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Oh oh oh to really move it, to move it move. Yes,
Now that's there you go. That's some deep that's that's
there you go. That's some deep statement's right there, like
for something that will be five six years down the road.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
So you gotta be trying to play your stupid conspiracy games.
Like I'll be into conspiracies, but I'm into like real ones.
But now you've got to be trying to convince people
of things that I don't really believe.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
No, but that's a good one right there. Hey, in
five years, when nobody's looking, we'll get you guys to
San Diego.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
After they build a new stadium there. You keep going,
they will really screw over the city of Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
We'll build a new state will help you build a
new stadium in San Diego and you can move there.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
No, no, no, I'm talking about the one they're building
in Cleveland right this minute.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Where are they building a new stadium? I didn't even
know that. Where is that going? I thought they did
just building, did they not?
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Nope?
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Isn't it right near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Speaker 5 (31:45):
Or is that the Uh?
Speaker 4 (31:47):
Golly, I'm I'm lost on Cleveland stadiums. I know the
one is right there near the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
I mean they're they're building a enclosed stadium. I don't
know there they are they?
Speaker 5 (32:00):
Really? I did not know that. Yeah?
Speaker 4 (32:01):
Yeah, oh wow, Okay, are our shovels in the dirt?
Or is this all just sort of a speculation.
Speaker 7 (32:11):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (32:12):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
I'm not that tight end. But I know that it's
all been approved and everything.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Healthy conspiracy theory.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
All right, Well, we'll follow everything as we go, but
for now it looks like we'll be just, I don't know,
doing nothing.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Is he is he practicing?
Speaker 5 (32:27):
Is he back? Do we know?
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Like Brooks Brook Park in the city of Cleveland are
still fighting over the location, so just like us? Oh?
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Interesting, okay, worse okay, So Brook Park is the equivalent
of Loan Tree in Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
I don't like that. I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
All right, we'll get Scott going here relatively shortly. We
do have an opportunity for you to win some Elitch
Gardens season passes. Texts Elitch in your first and last
name to three oh three five O four oh ninety
two five and you're entered.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
That's E.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
L I, T C H first and last name three
oh three five O four ninety two five. I've purchased
a twenty twenty six Elich Gardens season pass. Now and
get the rest of twenty twenty five, including fright Fest
and Elich Holidays to lowest prices and soon.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Best of luck on that. It's PhD on ninety two five.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
It is a football Friday. Tyler on the call later
tonight with the Cracker at seven o'clock. Yeah, you got
another shirt aside from the torn sleeve.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
I'm rocking the scissors cut SeeU Buff's T shirt that
I've had since two thousand and three.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
Remarkable.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
I'm going to rock this on the broadcast. This is
official team issued gear from when I was playing.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
There you go, that would be funny. Scott's Hi, Scott, Hey, Hey,
how are.
Speaker 7 (33:52):
You just wonderful peachy king? I bet you are right here,
right here where the peaches are made.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
I'm just peachy all grand junction, you know, palisades and
kind of wine country out there, Scott, you know.
Speaker 7 (34:06):
Yeah, the the best thing in my journey over to
try to do the show from an actual radio station.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
The irony.
Speaker 7 (34:14):
The guys were so thankful, took pictures, they were they
were so happy, they excited. They they'd like to take
our show and put it on their their show for
the afternoons. Sure, some guy named Shaffer is like him
and Han. We got some muckety muck named.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
Shaffer Warren Schaeffer. But I don't know if he's in
charge of the Rockies. I don't know if he's in
charge of our show and broadcast.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
I think there's another Sure he didn't be Shocky Shafer.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
No, I would love for our show to be heard
in the Western planes there in the junction.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
I think that would be wonderful.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
I love that.
Speaker 7 (34:50):
Yeah, that'd be cool. But anyway, the guy that Jim Davis,
who I'm on a show quite often, brought me a
bag of peaches.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Well that's it.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
I had no idea have I I have always that
is one of them vacations that we just haven't put together.
But we're dying to do. Like if people don't know, Yeah,
that's serious wine country and the Peaches Palisades, Palisades Peaches famous.
Speaker 7 (35:12):
I want stayed in Palisades at at a place called
the Wine Country.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
In while good for you. Yeah that sounds like a
solid vacation.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
Oh it's really cool.
Speaker 7 (35:23):
You go and you get uh for happy hour every night,
you get two glasses of wine or or beverage of choice.
And I had a pool. We sat out there at
a pool and took a took a tour one day
of another winery. That was kind of cool.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
You know, I don't know if you know this or not.
There's no reason you would, but believe it or not.
Grand Junction is a huge baseball area. Like they take
Junior World.
Speaker 7 (35:50):
Listen, they you know what else they take. They take
and I know Tyler's doing the game tonight. They take
high school sports. Guys telling me the high school sports
is big. They cover a lot of games and put
it on the airways there. He said, baseball is huge
in the Junior College World Series. Is is monster to him.
And and you know they broadcast all the games and
do all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
So Grand Junction is big for any state tournament in
any youth sport I'm serious. It's a place yeah, swimming, baseball.
I mean I've been up there for many many state things. Uh,
it's just like the place that you go for for state.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Some of my best youth sports memories are in Grand
Junction for both of my kids and Scott. You're getting
to get to.
Speaker 7 (36:32):
It well and Grand the Grand Junction Tigers just got
a brand new school.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
I had to drive by today.
Speaker 7 (36:38):
It is beautiful, nice little stadium right there on football
place on campus.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
It's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
Look at I saying all these nice things about Grand Junction.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Like people here are nice little construction. That too. What
they got more roundabouts than England. I was shocked by that.
Speaker 7 (36:56):
They have either either that's they've super modernized or something.
But to get from where I went or from the
hotel I'm staying at to the radio station, there was
at least four roundabouts I went through.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
How about on your way back from the radio station
to your hotel?
Speaker 1 (37:13):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (37:14):
Four?
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Okay, yeah radio station.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
Thank god for Google Maps, right, thank you to back
as a Chanker in the back is the Schanker Studios.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Their passion is justice.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Okay, you got any the stuff the hockey stuff there
inn or we still win, Oh we do, Okay, the
Peter Forsburg was back with the boys this morning.
Speaker 5 (37:38):
But i'd been cool to be out there. We could
have maybe got him on air live.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
Well yeah, but he was on with the morning shows. God,
here is Forsburgh on on Landy being back.
Speaker 8 (37:50):
But I think you know, when maybe it would happened
with let's if I'm going to hope something that you know,
Atlantiskog comes back and everybody, Okay, this is going to
be the year.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Now, now we have a chance.
Speaker 8 (38:01):
You know, he's back and he's kind of a great
leader there and then and and get the fire in
the motion. It's been a few years since they won,
and they're you know, like you said, it's not you
cannot be ninety eight percent ready. You have to be
like one hundred and one percent right because everybody else
wants to win so much too. So uh yeah, we'll
see what happens this year. But it sure looks pretty good.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
How how do you think it's going to be with
Landy being back full time? Do you think it'll still
be like a story? Do you think it's it's.
Speaker 7 (38:30):
Listen to Peter say that, don't you kind of flash
back to his his playing days and you know when
the one Stanley Cup they won, he didn't play in
the last I don't know. Sure he played in the finals,
spleen for the last last handful of games. But you're
like always waiting for him to come back to weren't you.
Well just wait when Forestburgh comes back, here you go,
(38:51):
and then you have the foot issue, right and the
spleen in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
Yeah, and he did come back and it was sadly
underwhelming and it was short it you know, it didn't
last that long game comes back. I definitely had a
sense of paranoia that, oh, what is this? You know,
you know, what if it's terrible, Like it's amazing that
he's back, but what sucks? And it didn't, thank god,
(39:16):
But I do wonder.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
Nobody expect to be that good though.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
All right, so what are your expectations now that the
comeback's over and that he's just back, Like.
Speaker 5 (39:23):
What, well, don't you think he don't you think he
still has a hurdle?
Speaker 7 (39:27):
Yeah, I do, because he came back for the playoffs
and and and how many back to backs are in
the playoffs and.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
Playoffs?
Speaker 5 (39:36):
Yeah? How many?
Speaker 7 (39:36):
Two and three nights or two and four nights type things,
and and you know he got to he got to
fly here, Dallas here.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
You know that's all true, But he got another big
break right after that. You know, that's a lot of
time to get back in the reapp room and and
continue the process of getting healthy.
Speaker 4 (39:55):
When we look at it objectively, as we look at
you know, sports and athletes, do we just look at
Gabe as just another player now or do does he
whatever he does, does he get framed in terms of
his return from this injury?
Speaker 5 (40:09):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (40:09):
I think he'll forever be framed by the return from
the injury. Yeah, I mean this is historical stuff. And dude,
the miss three seasons I don't know how many times
in the history of the NHL we've got an example.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
So if he's slumping a little bit or just doesn't
have to quite jump or something like that, is it
more like, well, listen, man, he's still coming back.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
He's you know, we got to give him a break
on that.
Speaker 7 (40:30):
Well, I don't know if you gotta give him a break,
But the key is how many games will he be
completely healthy? For every guy you know, goes to a
stretch of you know, baseball, you know, a handful of
games are not making contact or basketball, the jumpers not falling, hockey,
you know, the puck's just not finding the net or
(40:51):
you know, my whatever. Every athlete goes to that in
a season. The key is how many games will he
be one hundred percent healthy for or close too? And
that's gonna be key because I'll make a bowl prediction.
I don't know if this is that bowl. If Landi
is gone is a completely healthy participant for the twenty
five twenty sixth season, I think he win a Stanley Cup.
(41:13):
But I think that's what he means to this team.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
I got another one. This is a fun one forrestburg On.
Who do you like to play with if he is
playing now?
Speaker 8 (41:21):
Yeah, it's you know, I didn't think too much about
my line that it's you know, I was just happy.
I was even happy with heinel you know.
Speaker 5 (41:31):
He's kidding.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
Uh yeah, it's a lot of of course.
Speaker 8 (41:34):
Uh, you know, with McKinnon, it would be be great.
I think, uh gay like a guy like Ranton and
would actually be fun to play with too that can
cover the puck and be in front of that and
score dry side.
Speaker 5 (41:46):
Little McDavid.
Speaker 8 (41:48):
There's a lot of players I think I would love
to play with. Maybe Big Davi would be too fast
for me. I wouldn't catch up, give you an offensive zone.
I was still in the neutral soul. So it's a
lot of good players. I think it changed a lot
hockey though. They're a little faster, you know, most a
little fast. You know, overall the game goes faster, so
(42:09):
a little different.
Speaker 4 (42:10):
Is there a Peter Forsburg on this Avalanche team? Is
there equivalent with Peter Forsburg on the out team? And
I'll throw it out to you, Dad, No, I would.
Speaker 3 (42:18):
Say Miko probably was maybe the closest. Well, Nathan McKinnon
kind of has that toughness.
Speaker 5 (42:26):
That Forstburg had.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Nathan's not Joe.
Speaker 5 (42:29):
Yeah. No, here, here's what people forget about. Forstburg. We
all know he was a wizard with the stick.
Speaker 7 (42:37):
I mean, this guy is phenomenal, but his physical strength, well,
they don't have anybody on the offensive side of the
the blue line that that that had his strength.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
I mean, the game's not games, not Forsburg.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
No, no, no, no, no, what's the question. Are you
talking about talent.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Cut comparable player like similar play style?
Speaker 5 (43:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Yeah, the equivalent of Yeah, I don't think they have
a Forrestsburg.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
No.
Speaker 7 (43:07):
Listen, when I knew that he was super special, and
I was a season ticket holder the year they wanted
actually and so I saw man. I saw tons of games,
went all the way to the finals, went to the
Miami for the championship Stanley Cup. When I saw him
go in the corner to fight for a puck and
(43:29):
he put his left arm forearm on some defense. Dude,
we usually your bigger, stronger dudes. Right, he put this guy,
He planted this guy into the boards and held him
and it was like a little kid trying to get
loose from this forearm that was like in the back
of the shoulder and had him pin on the glass.
(43:50):
Somehow right handed, got the puck out of the little
junk down on the floor, swung it around and made
a perfect pass in front of the net. And it
was a one time or school or and I went that,
ain't they ain't got Nobody does that. They ain't got

Well, Forrestburgh doesn't come back to the US all that often.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
He lives in Sweden.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Uh yeah, he says he does.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
Because they asked him earlier today about you know, do
you even watch the ass can he keep up with him?
He's like, well, it's been tough. It's a little tricky,
except maybe on the weekends. But he's back here on
somewhat of a regular basis. So lucky to have him today. Man,
as they have their alumni weekend, they had the golf tournament,
which is actually still going on right now.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
I think what they do with that alumni game against
DEU alumni, I think that's one of the cooler deals.

Speaker 7 (45:19):
Well, I I wondered if Paul Stasley was coming back,
right and then stas stats could maybe play for DU
the first half or the ABS first the first period
and then switch over to the ABS or whatever. You know,
That's awesome, that'd be cool.
Speaker 5 (45:35):
All right?
Speaker 4 (45:36):
Coming up, Jerry moron Jerry Jones about Michael Parsons. This
