Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Columbus Hastings and DMAC on demand. Listen to
PhD Live every weekday from noon to three on Altitude
Sports Radio ninety two five and on the Altitude Sports
Radio app.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Well, we do have the final preseason game of the year.
It's tomorrow with the Broncos on the road to go
down to where Sean Payton used to rule the Bayou
to New Orleans. Mike cost, the play by play voice
of the New Orleans Saints for WWL Radio, joins us. Mike,
thank you very much for being with us, Just to

(00:36):
let you know, if you don't have that vibe already,
We're pretty excited here in Denver about the Vela trade.
How's that going down there in New Orleans?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yeah, we're pretty excited as well. Okay, they've not had
a you know, I mean, I think it's kind of
a win win. Who knows, and you give up a.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
Sixth is it a fourth next year? In a seven
in twenty seventy.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
The ironic part about it is that the Saints used
to have a six to five guy, a six round
pick in twenty twenty three at Perry Right, and so
we got another six five guy to another trade it's
It's been a weird, very base ballish couple of weeks
for the Saints. I mean, they played Jacksonville and traded

(01:20):
with Jacksonville Colin Saunders in their center. I was like,
are you go home with them? A? Denver's coming here?
You you know, Vala, you come here. But that's very
unusual for this team, you know Bike. But I think
they wanted to get some depth of that. Why do
you find that wide receiver spot and some some height?

Speaker 5 (01:40):
Yeah, you know this is let's just make it clear,
you're getting a really good football player. You are divide.
Vele is a really really good wide receiver. But the
narrative around here is that we fleece to I mean
that that that that absolutely is the narrative. A fourth
and the seventh feels like tremendous value to pick up
for a guy that you got in the seventh round
last year, you know, at four hundred and seventy five

(02:02):
yards a productive season. But I kind of look at
it from your guys' point of view, like if I'm
doing sports talk in New Orleans, it feels to be like,
you guys should be accumulating draft picks right now, not
not giving away draft picks based off how the season
is probably gonna go.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, and they had nine this past year, which was
the most they've had in probably seven years, because they've
been pushing all their chips to the middle for the
last six years. So I think there's two schools of thought.
Is that yes, probably should be trying to garner as
much or we gotta this can't be as bad as
everybody is expecting. They've got to get some some significant

(02:41):
skins on the wall for this football team.

Speaker 6 (02:44):
Though.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Even though it is tellibores first year as head coach,
I feel like they, you know, here's the difference.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
You playing the AFC West, were playing the NFC South.
We're in it no matter what.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So you all feel like you got
it shut no matter what.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Let's bring it this way.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
And the last three so Tampa's won it the last
four seasons. We won it before that in the last
three years. In December of twenty two, twenty three, and
twenty four, in December, no team in the NFC South
had a winning record.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Wow, so it's open for business.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
I mean, see, well, let's fine talking about you got
you got a new coach today and you got really
two guys fighting it out for the quarterback position. As
we all know in football now there's maybe more importance
to the quarterback than there's ever ever been a how
is more handled the preseason so far? For going for

(03:51):
the first time and what have you seen from the
two quarterbacks?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
I think Kellen has been great. He's very uh, you know,
right forward. You get what you get and then you
move on. If you don't get the answer you want,
you're not getting it. You can ask it five different times,
but you're not getting it. But he's a super nice guy.
I think he's come in with a completely different attitude

(04:16):
to practice, to approach to everything, and quite frankly, in
this city, we were so spoiled for so many years.
Having something done differently right now feels pretty good. So Kellen,
I feel, has been a really really good fit. Brandon
Stanley with that defense, has been a good fit. And

(04:36):
as Kellen said, the quarterback battle is close, it's just close.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
It just is.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Their numbers are almost identical for the preseason, and he
said today that it's been that way pretty much in practice.
So I don't think tomorrow is going to be the
deciding factor. I think it's another layer, and then I
think it just it comes down to who else who

(05:02):
gives you the best chance to beat Arizona and San
Francisco out of the gate. These four games out of
the gate from this football team, Arizona San Francisco far
better than their records indicated last year. Then you go
at Seattle at Buffalo. So it's been very close. Both
quarterbacks have struggled early in the game. The Saints have

(05:24):
two field goals in the first half of each game.
One each game we were down nine to three, seventeen
to three. You guys have scored forty four in the
first half. So whoever is at quarterback needs to figure
out a way to get off to a faster start.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
It has been really rough.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Well, of course, of course they're going to play, they're
going to try to win all that, But I am curious.
Mike Haas is the play by play voice of the
Saints WWL Radio, there's gotta be some sort of strong
sentiment down there to just hey man, it's okay if
we lose, so we're gonna get Manning number generation number
three here. I mean, how strong is that sentiment to
get archs banding?

Speaker 3 (06:05):
From a fan standpoint, yes, I think they would like
to dream that way.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
It's not in this team's DNA. They just can't. They
don't have the ability even if they wanted to. They can't.
I mean, once again, I go back to the NFC South.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
You're in the division race at eight and eight a
couple of weeks ago every year. So I don't you know,
if we to talk at week three last year when
Kellen Moore's Philadelphia Eagles were coming to New Orleans, the
Saints were two and oh and it scored ninety one points.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
We were on top of the world.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah, I don't think anybody saw five and twelve coming.
I just don't think anybody saw it. I don't think
the team was as bad as it was last year,
and I don't think it's as bad as people expect
this year. But a lot of it is going to
be on the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
I mean, I don't care.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
I think it's a very strong starting twenty one both sides.
I don't know about number twenty two yet no one does.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
All right, all right, well listen, enjoy the call tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (07:10):
What tipe of the day do you go worship at
the Shawn Peyton Shrine.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Yeah, Sean was great man.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
He's the one that spoiled us, right, you know, he's
the one that spoiled us. We conna go, we would
go thirteen and three and go can we just get
to the playoffs?

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Like you must? We have to sit through thirteen to
three again.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Hey, Mike, We're like, we hear the stories of the
ex girlfriend all the time. By the way, it doesn't
end up here, you know, So we we hear New
Orleans this, New Orleans that all the time. So we're
quite familiar with how strong you feel still about New
Orleans and how how you guys must feel about him too.
We're yeah, we're kind of getting used to him. We

(07:48):
understand he's a good coach. He's a good coach that
you know, likes to talk about himself quite a bit
and has certain feelings. But we're all we're all figuring
this out together up here in Denver.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
He I don't know, he's from the Bill Parcells tree.
Do you do you do you feel that just a
little bit sure, you know?

Speaker 6 (08:06):
And so.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
It's so, I mean, we're looking forward to I think
you guys have like sixteen people who are you know,
the Saints, either players or coaches. My, my, favorite, of course,
is Zach Streef. Ohause, Okay, Zach Streif left to go coaching.
I got his job as the play by play guy.
So Zach was play by play until Sean took him

(08:31):
to go coaching. Yeah, well done, well done.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
That's cool, that's awesome. All right, well let's go. Let's
go there. Mike can appreciate it, and thanks for joining us.
We appreciate Thank you, Mike.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
All Right, fellows, thanks.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Do you think we'll ever grow to love Sean like
they did in New Orleans? Or is that impossible?

Speaker 5 (08:48):
It's not hard. You win a Super Bowl, you'll worship
the dude. Yeah, I mean you will worship the dude.

Speaker 6 (08:54):
Yeah, that's the key.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
He's got the intensible.

Speaker 6 (08:57):
But he also said something that is so right on.
We've talked about it with the Nuggets last couple of years.
You gotta believe New England was in this boat for
a year. Can we just get to the regacy thirteen
and three? Okay? What I mean he's explaining that, like
thirteen and three is boring? What would we do for
thirteen three? My god?

Speaker 2 (09:18):
In this town, right, lords.

Speaker 6 (09:20):
Put under Shanahan for those handful of years and under Peyton,
you know, yeah, twelve and four and you're like, gosh,
what's wrong with this team?

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Mmm?

Speaker 5 (09:28):
You know.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
You know what's interesting though about Sean? This is gonna
be tough because he was there after Katrina when they
needed the Saints to uplift the entire community, and I
just they did, and they did, and they won a
super Bowl, you know what I mean, Like, I don't know,
I don't know. That seems like an amazing bond. But sure,
you win a super Bowl and we'll think great about you.

(09:51):
You know how it goes. They love him though, man,
they do love him down there in New Orleans still,
of course they do. I mean he was there forever.

Speaker 6 (09:59):
Yeah. Yeah, Well, do you guys remember the first game
at the Dome after Katrina. I didn't they win, don't
don't They have a statue of the guy and I
think he's passed right into Lukemi or something like that.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Well, they got the Steve Gleason statue and he had
like als, I don't know, it's something bad, oh terrible. Yeah,
but like he blocked a pun, yeah, yes.

Speaker 6 (10:22):
And and and but that and that was on National TV.
Went on like a Monday night game, some big time
game Saturday night, Sunday night or something. And boy that
I tell you watching it home after Katrina and seeing
the videos for two or three weeks that we saw
and that was like, I think everybody was a New
Orleans fan that night.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Yeah, I knew. I love New Orleans. I don't know
how you guys feel about New Orleans. I think it's
and I know the super Domes an old place and
I was there when the lights went out when Beyonce
blew the lights out, which was that was weird. Man,
when those lights went out of the Super Bowl. You
want to talk about conspiracy theories and feeling like is
there something shady going on here? It was a crazy vibe, man.

(11:03):
I mean, all of a sudden, the lights are out
during the Super Bowl and we're all sitting like eighty
thousand people yep, inside this joint, Like you start looking around,
like what exactly am I supposed to do here? But
I think New Orleans a great place, and you know,
we'll go down there and it'll be whatever for the game.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
You know.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
I never really thought about that though. If you're trying
to tank out you're in the NFC South Point, you're
gonna stumble across some wins, right.

Speaker 6 (11:27):
Yeah, you'll probably accidentally win two or three.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
Yeah, yeah, probably five or six.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
God, if we were doing a show down there, wouldn't
we be screaming for them to lose every single game
though and go for arch Man and when.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
Wouldn't that be the vibe though? The we'd be printing
up T shirts the march for arch on Altitude Sports
ADI on ninety two to five.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
I mean, you know, we're really gonna go out in
with Tyler Shuck and Spencer Rattler. If we're like fans
of the Saints.

Speaker 6 (11:55):
Well, can I say something? They hope that Tyler Shook hits. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
I think he's not got and neither Spencer Rattler.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
Spencer Tyler Shoke's got something to him. You think I do?

Speaker 6 (12:05):
I do?

Speaker 5 (12:06):
Okay, I mean, I'm not telling you he's gonna go
out there and win eight or nine football games this year,
But I honestly think that that guy's got he's got
something to him.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Okay, it looks like a disaster to me, but that
was funny for him to say we got twenty one
of the twenty two. We just don't know about the
twenty two that's.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
Funny that he knew the exact number of Saints that
were here. I didn't even know that.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
I didn't know what was that mean. I forgot about
Zach Streef. But Rizzy's the latest guy that's here. Troutman. Obviously,
I'm gonna go down to the laundry list of dudes.
Sixteen is what he said. That's crazy, that's wild.

Speaker 6 (12:37):
Damn.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Do you have the Jameis Winston thing coming up or not?

Speaker 4 (12:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (12:40):
Yeah, we'll play.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Okay, that was Russell Wilson. Okay, we'll get to that.
Can't wait. Let's football go coming up next. That's good.
That's good. Mountain High appliance is good. Good, it's good.
Find them a mounta higplians dot com. All right, Dan

(13:02):
Bud's good standadless football go all right.

Speaker 7 (13:04):
Let's hear from Broncos safety Brandon Jones fell as he
spoke to the media yesterday. Here he is on the
growth he's seen being in the secondary, the growth he's
seen from second year quarterback Bo Nicks.

Speaker 8 (13:17):
Yeah, I say he's his comfort level. It's been amazing.
You can see that he truly understands the defense. You know,
depending on the front coverages, that we're in. He understands
the beaters that come with the certain coverages that you play.
So you just seen I've seen, like I said before,
I've seen him make that jump from a from a
game to game basis last year, and I think he's

(13:39):
miles from even where we end the season, you know,
so super happy and excited for him.

Speaker 7 (13:44):
So Scott and Tyler, let me ask you guys this,
since you were basically at every training camp practice, have
you seen any like significant growth out of Bow so
far throughout training camp in the preseason and what do
you think he still needs to con and you to
get better at.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
I mean, one area that I think was irrefutable would
be just from day one, you could feel this guy's
a leader of this team, right, And I don't think
that's nothing. So I mean, I'm not trying to dismiss
the question in terms of like what he's doing athletically,
what he's doing on the field, which is in terms
of peer leadership abilities. These guys gravitate towards him, they follow,

(14:25):
and I think he's doing a great job of leading
this team and that that's important. I mean, Scott, would
would you agree with that?

Speaker 6 (14:32):
Yeah? One hundred percent. The biggest difference from me from
training camp last year to training camp this year was
the command of the team and the organization. I didn't
think he threw the ball well at all last training
camp until late and that might have been when he

(14:52):
finally got a little bit more comfortable and Tyler said
this a number of times and thrown it just whole.
But there hasn't been a lot of special to it.
So from the leadership standpoint, which is probably the biggest
jump he needs to make, especially he's going to be
the quarterback for this team for another decade, probably need
to start at the leadership thing, all right.

Speaker 7 (15:14):
Next story, Dan, I, let's do a little check in
on the other AFC West teams.

Speaker 5 (15:20):
Here.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
This is Daniel Popper.

Speaker 7 (15:22):
He covers the Chargers, and he was talking with Ari
Meirav about Omarion Hampton. How has Omarian Hampton look so
far early on in his young career.

Speaker 9 (15:32):
We asked Khalil Mack about it last week and we're like, well,
you know, it might be hard to tell, you know,
you're not tackling to the ground in training camp practices,
and Khalil cut us off and he was like, no,
I can tell I can tell. If you're a football player,
you can tell, and like that's the kind of you know,
impact and mark that Hampton's already made in training camp.
This guy is a complete back and like I loved

(15:54):
his tape coming out of North Carolina, the one thing
people are going to see with him is he's just
physical and the way he finishes runs is remarkable. I
mean he runs through people, he's seeking contact at the
end of runs, and then he's going to bring an
element of explosivity to the offense, like he can hit
a home run from anywhere on the field.

Speaker 5 (16:13):
Guys, we have.

Speaker 7 (16:14):
Three highly drafted rookie running backs this year in the
AFC West with Ashton Genty and the Raiders Omari and
Hampton and the Chargers and obviously RJ. Harvey here with
the Denver Broncos. Who do you guys think has the
most productive rookie season out of those three running backs?

Speaker 6 (16:32):
Hampton, because I think he's playing for the one quarter
or the one coach is going to absolutely demand that
team to run the football. And you know, John Payton
for me, has to prove that he's going to do
that here in Denver.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
Well, I don't disagree with that at all. I mean,
Harbaugh is committed to run in the football. That is
an old school son of a gun that he would
grind it out every single drive if he's allowed to
grind it out, even with the freaking LAMBORGHI do you
have a quarterback? He still would prefer to keep the
ball on the ground. However, I'm not going to get
a gent. I mean, did we bring him up? I'm sorry,

(17:10):
I don't know. He's one of the rookies. Yeah, I
value Yeah, Ashton Genty looks legit. I don't know if
you saw him truck those guys in preseason football. He
got a little bit banged up on it, but he
looks that that dude's just gonna be the real deal.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Yeah, I don't know how it's not going to be him.
Hampton will be fascinating to watch because the vibe from
the Broncos at least was they weren't interested in him
at all. But it's not like they he was the
only running back they passed.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
On Travon Henderson.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Correct, he looked pretty damn good out there with the Patriots. Yeah, yes, sir,
So listen, there's a couple of dudes that we just
got a It'll be interesting this NFL season because it'll
be like six or seven guys that you know, tight
end receiver, running back that the Broncos were just like,
we're good Johnny Baron, R J. Harvey, Pat Bryan. It'll

(18:02):
be in the back of our minds. And this is
why we've said a million times it was a luxury
pick and a trust the organization draft.

Speaker 6 (18:11):
So you know, if you get if you get gent
he gets two hundred and eighty carries to seventy, and
you get the guy in Hampton gets two hundred and
fifty turned sixty, and then Harvey gets one hundred and
forty five. Who's going to be more productive? Well?

Speaker 2 (18:31):
I don't know. I mean, how the Raiders going to
be in games? How's their defense? Are they're gonna be
winning games? They're gonna be losing games? How often do
they have to run the ball compared to throwing the ball?

Speaker 4 (18:43):
Like?

Speaker 2 (18:44):
Where where are the Chargers going to be in that department?

Speaker 5 (18:46):
Dude? Watch out the Raiders land Uh, Trey Hendricks said,
watch out.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Now, Okay, you got Trey Henderson and Max Crosby. Yeah, Yeah,
that's scary. That's scary.

Speaker 5 (18:58):
There's plenty of rumors about it.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Could the Bengals be this stupid? Could they really you would.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
Get your ownership? Can you know you gotta go all
the way, go the way back with Alfred? You work
with Alfred. I think one or two years Alfred talked
about us stupid. They were back when he came out
of college, and that was forty years ago.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
Why you were you were driving back to the hotel.
He actually called me Alfred earlier in the show today.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
That was a weird sleft that hasn't happened in a minute.
I go back to watching that Cowboys documentary. It was
the herschel Walker trade that set them up for championships.
It is kind of an interesting question, Okay, Hendrickson, we
can't figure it out, but are we better off? I mean,
what are you gonna get for him? At least two

(19:44):
first round picks? Right, at least two? What else are
you gonna get? You would think, Yeah, so, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
We're gonna think about how pro sports are going right now. Guys, Hey,
we're gonna give you two first round picks, and then
the guy we're gonna get in return, we're gonna pay
thirty eight million dollars to.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
Yep, yep, Hey, my mind blowing. If we're sitting here
talking about the AFC West. Sorry to hijack your segment, Dad,
but oblige me here. Let's let's let's do two power
rankings as we're sitting here talking about realistic expectations for
the Denver Broncos. Okay, let's do two power rankings. Number one,
I want you to power rank the AFC West head coaches.
And the number two, I want you to power rank

(20:27):
the AFC wes qbs.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Oh man, I gotta go one with Andy Reid. Okay,
I gotta go to Sean Payton. Okay, I'll go Golly,
I'll go three Harbaugh and Carol.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
Yeah. I mean, listen, it's hard to differentiate after Andy Reid.
It is tough to differentiate any of those next three.
They've all been to super Bowls. They've all got they
all get a really good two of the three of
one of super bowl.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
No, Carol's wanted three out of four of one super Bowls.
I mean, Harbaugh didn't win one, Carol.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
He's talking about the guys behind you.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
What did I miss?

Speaker 5 (21:17):
You're you're pul saying the same thing. You just weren't listening.

Speaker 6 (21:19):
Okay, yeah, thanks.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
You know sometimes I am not listening and that you
caught me. But I was really seriously listening there. I'm
sorry I missed it.

Speaker 6 (21:32):
Yeah, don't worry about he said after after Andy Reid
basically throw those other three up. Compare when I said,
well two of the three have a Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
Okay, okay, I would tend to agree with your power
ranking to the coaches. I'm probably actually gonna put Sean
at number two also, but I would debate whether to
put Pete there. I don't know. Listen that they're all
they're on the ballpark, they're all really good. Scott, you
want to do that real quick. If you've got a
strong difference of opinion, no, I.

Speaker 6 (21:59):
Don't have one. I think you're you know, I think
Seattle people would say that that that Pete Carroll is
a better coach, and New Orleans people would say that
Champagne is a better coach.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
All right, do the QBS.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
Mahomes. Yeah, Herbert, who's quarterback in the.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Old Geno's last in my book by a mile.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
Yeah, Gino's a lot better than you think.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Okay, I think he sucks or he's not that great,
that's for sure. I mean, I don't know if this
is that hard.

Speaker 6 (22:34):
I think I would go mahomes Herbert bow and then
and then Gene me too.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
And I don't think that's even complicated.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
I would too. So what's realistic for the outcome of
this season? As we're sitting here talking about we don't
really have the best in any of them. We're probably
number three at QB, and yet we're talking about a
year in which we're talking about AFC West Championships.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
I'm not I'm saying eleven wins, but I don't have
him winning in the AFC Championship.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
Who's them winning Your boy? Your boy on TV yesterday
or online? Zach whatever. Steven's that d mv R guy.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Yeah, what about that?

Speaker 6 (23:08):
He said? He said twelve and six in the AC
Championship game.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
I've heard other people pick him to beat the Chiefs.
I've seen that. Colin Coward just did it the other day,
he said they would finish in front of the Chiefs.
I do not feel that strongly about that. I think
eleven wins Wildcard. I think they'll be better than the
Chargers and the and the Raiders.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
Eleven wins is feasible, But dude, that's tough. Yeah, no
doubt that that's gonna be real tough to get to Levin.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Who's got a better defense in the AC West than
the Broncos.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
Oh yeah, that's fair. That's that that probably should be
included in the equation.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
So you know, that's gonna even a lot of things out.
And if if they've got a better defense by a mile,
then you know it's gonna you're you're gonna win some
boring easy games. I think they are. I think they're
gonna have five games like last weekend where they get
out seventeen to three, twenty to three. I'm like that
in the first half and they just defensively just kind

(24:03):
of eliminate teams and there's just nothing that dynamic. But
I think they win like four or five games like that,
and then the rest is it's the NFL. It's all
nail biders, Like what what's it gonna you know, come
down to and maybe you'll get blown out, and maybe
you will blow out somebody you didn't even get to.

Speaker 6 (24:18):
The I think it's gonna be very unique, and I
think it really I really do think it's predicated on
the start well.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
We don't have to be done. We can still finish
out of stories. We got time.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Yeah, yeah, no, I know, because there's the story I
want to get to is probably coming up.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
What you want the Jamis Winston?

Speaker 7 (24:37):
Sound well, I've got it for you.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (24:40):
So, actually, the Giants crushed the Patriots in their final
preseason game. Fells forty two to ten was the final.
Tommy DeVito came in seventeen of twenty one hundred and
ninety eight yards, three touchdowns, no picks, Jackson Dart, Tommy cutting.
It did start the game, but he got injured, so
Jameis Winston had to come and hold threw a touchdown.

(25:02):
Do you guys want some motivation as we head into
the weekend, Scott, you're ready for some Jameis Winston motivation?
Here here he is after the Giants win. Hey, I'm
just saying they called us the three Amigos, but somebody
had the hat trick today.

Speaker 5 (25:17):
We turned it up and we got to know and
we put the young bucks.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
You know what time it is.

Speaker 6 (25:25):
We turn it up.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
We said the thing, wait did running away? The three Amigos,
the three Tuddies.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Good night is Russell Wilson still on. That's even guys.

Speaker 5 (25:35):
I want to eat a dupe? Guys, Can I eat
a dupe? I'm dangerous, guys.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
All we do is eat a dumb guys.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
Guys, Guys, come over here. I'm dangerous.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Horror.

Speaker 5 (25:43):
Russell Wilson unlimited.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Were the three three?

Speaker 6 (25:53):
Could they? Could they end up cutting uh Russell Wilson?

Speaker 2 (25:58):
How much would it cost him?

Speaker 1 (25:59):
No?

Speaker 5 (25:59):
He's their starting cor What are you guys talking about?
He is?

Speaker 2 (26:03):
But I know what Scott saying. Like at this point,
everybody probably realizes that's good chemistry, that's the future, and
Russ's Russ. It's probably the same exact thing. It's it's
it's you get it, you see it instantly, you feel
it because that's what he is.

Speaker 6 (26:18):
Man.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
As much as he tries to be Joe team teammate,
he ain't. But Jameis Winston sure is that guy. Damn man,
Jameis Winston is freaking awesome. Give give me a cooler
guy in the NFL than Jameis Winston. Give give me
a better teammate in the NFL than Jameis Winston.

Speaker 6 (26:35):
From crab Lakes. The world hates teem to like the
coolest backup quarterback in the league.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
Hell of a redebtive story.

Speaker 6 (26:43):
Wild man.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
People don't like him, they love him. Everybody loves him.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
He's this generation's bat Fitzpatrick.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
He's awesome.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
Man. Oh that's a good that's a good pull run.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
He is just so he is so positive in a
real way, not a phony Russell Wilson way. The video
is great, man. They're jumping, they're happy, they're all eating dubs,
they're all having fun, the three videos, and we're the
three best friends that anybody can.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
Could ever have.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (27:14):
Fitzpatrick's not a big fan of one of those quarterbacks,
so is he?

Speaker 2 (27:18):
Oh yeah, what was his thing?

Speaker 5 (27:20):
I thought that was totally playful. Did you guys actually
hear the audio? So he was. He was there were
practicing what they were going to say on set, right, So,
so he got caught in a hot Mike moment where
he was talking about Jackson Dart and so as part
of that, he said something along the lines of, you know,

(27:41):
you got a guy that dances like Drew Locke and uh,
he plays like I forget who he said, but he tasked.
He tossed out a few jabs there, and he was
just being funny.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
And I don't like his release point, and I don't
like his release point.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
And then his partner's like, Okay, we'll make sure to
put that on.

Speaker 6 (27:55):
There, make sure and say that.

Speaker 5 (27:59):
Honestly, it didn't even feel to be like that was
a real opinion. It just it just sounded like he
was just trying to make it funny as they're practicing
their war up.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Gotcha, gotcha. Okay, it doesn't seem like a big deal.
That's awesome. I didn't I didn't know what the specifics were.

Speaker 6 (28:12):
I don't know. Man, Well, it was just on our vine.
Don't don't worry about reading or watching that story.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Hell no, the giants come here on your October nineteenth.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
Yep, they got you twice today. I'm digging you twice.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
It's okay. Just go eat a peach. Name the band.

Speaker 6 (28:29):
I got one in the fridge.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Name the band. Eat a peach.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
Millions of peaches.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
No after the.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
A's President of the United States right there in the States.
Let's eat a peach though, Oh classic rocker moment here,
everybody eat a peach. Come on, nobody, it is shocker.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
You don't know your classic rocker classic rock trivia. Scott,
Come on, man, this should be right up your alley
brother go eat a peach, Eat a peach, James Taylor,
Almond Brothers. My friend, Oh, disappointed in you. I was
gonna say, Justin Bieber, were you?

Speaker 6 (29:03):
Did you?

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Guys see the fake Beiaber that got on stage the
other day?

Speaker 5 (29:06):
I did?

Speaker 2 (29:07):
That was a riot there there. I don't even even
know where it was, but this dude just got up
and started, you know, being Justin Bieber, and everybody was
just like, ah, it's Justin Bieber. There's a skinny white
dude with a bunch of tads. Hey, I'm just Biber, everybody.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
Hey, our dude from the Springs is reminding me again
that skitded Heifer is the best burger in the Springs,
only five minutes from the stadium.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Hit it up on the way, d He wants you
to go.

Speaker 6 (29:36):
Early yesterday too, leave ten minutes early and then and
then hit it up and take a burger to the thing.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
What's the think the what heifer?

Speaker 4 (29:46):
Well?

Speaker 5 (29:46):
I think there's a typo in there. He wrote, skidded Heifer.
That doesn't make much sense. Skirted heifer?

Speaker 2 (29:52):
Is that what would make sense? I have no idean't skided, Heifer,
it's skirted.

Speaker 5 (29:55):
If it's a skirt steak, yeah, I bet it's supposed
to be skirted.

Speaker 6 (29:59):
All right.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
Well, fotball gets going this weekend.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
I'm gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
He's been.

Speaker 5 (30:05):
I'm gonna take a photo and everything just for this guy.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
That would be great. It's the best Hamburgers in seven o'clock.
Tonight's our first regular season football game. It's Tyler, it's
named it's Rachel v.

Secott is in Grand Junction after being an Aspen yesterday

(31:29):
which was cool. Nate will join us here in just
a little bit. He's already down in Colorado Springs because
he's broadcasting the game tonight with you, Tyler. Yeah, so
you're halfway done with your day. You got much more
to do. Sandford is going to join us, who's coaching
Valor tonight that we're broadcasting the game, but he's going

(31:51):
to join Nate and Andy for an hour to talk
about well, whatever they're going to talk about. He's going
to be joining us from Valor before he gets on
a US and goes down to the game. This is
this is a quirky interesting day here today, no doubt
about it. So welcome to the world of outs, dude, man,
it's kind of fun.

Speaker 5 (32:09):
Mike dedicated to radio on Game Dawn.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
You know, like, is that a little cocky? Oh?

Speaker 5 (32:16):
He does feel a little coffee, doesn't feels a little
bit comfortable.

Speaker 6 (32:20):
A little little little comfortable.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Yeah, Mike, you know, I mean these things, you would
stay focused on the game, which which one's the priority?

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Yeah, I mean he was in here doing a show earlier.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
Well, maybe there's no valor or lums or parents listening
to the show, so let's hope all goes well.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Well, Okay, I'm just saying I I think I would
want my coach a little bit more focused. But you
know whatever, I.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
Mean, you know, call him out man, calling him out there.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
I'm trying to practice for Tyler tonight though, Like, uh, you.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
Just want me to roast them all night long.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
I'm really curious how you guys are going to call
the game, considering everybody's friends were gonna.

Speaker 5 (32:59):
Call it football game. It's not hard, it's not complicated.
It's like calling I mean, I haven't ever actually called
an NFL game, so I shouldn't say that. But it
would be like calling an NFL game when I was
two years out and I got buddies that are on
the team.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
So if he makes a quirky decision or something that
you know it's fair to be questioned, you'll just say
it as it is. I'm just call it in like
a callady game, call it yeah, yeah, okay, And then
then Mike could come in on Monday and you can
tell me all the reasons why I was wrong, and
I could be like, well, that's your opinion, man, because
I'm going to guess for a high school game, you
take it easy on the kids. You're not going to

(33:31):
call out any kids or be all that critical. Right,
but the coaches, sure, coaches. Coaches are a fair game,
right Scott.

Speaker 6 (33:40):
High School? Having done all three levels offense, defens, special teams,
I've always felt you were softer, softer on the high
school and yet more excited about the plays you see.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Yeah, okay, that's about right, you know. Yeah, but do
you just bury adults that make dumb decisions in high
school games? Well, I'll be watching tonight.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
Hey listen, I know you didn't coach high school, but
but most high school coaches run a deficit by the
end of the season.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
What does that mean?

Speaker 6 (34:16):
Uh? That that that they usually spend more on their
team than they are paid.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Oh, I got you, I got you. I did a
little summer high school coaching summer summer stuff.

Speaker 6 (34:27):
Well, okay, did you make money.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Or did you We would buy everything for and we
would you know, I mean, I wasn't Teddy Bridgewater or anything,
but you know, we would get them drinks and you know,
food and that sort of thing. We would, we would
do that. I guess that's what Teddy was doing too,
wasn't he. I don't know. Maybe I was breaking all
sorts of rules. Who knows. Thanks to our friends that
revitalize health. Visit them at revitalized dash health dot com.

(34:50):
What do you watch the out of the Broncos tomorrow? Guys?
What do we care about? What do we want to see?

Speaker 5 (34:55):
Touchdowns?

Speaker 1 (34:56):
No?

Speaker 5 (34:56):
Touchdowns?

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Okay? Well, how much of a negative it would it
be if Bonnix doesn't put him in the end zone
on the first drive?

Speaker 5 (35:06):
Does he move? Does he BArch down the field?

Speaker 2 (35:10):
I'll give you three different scenarios. Three and out scenario
bad bad.

Speaker 5 (35:15):
Because we've got a lot of bad in our mouth already.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
All right, three and out bad picks up two first downs,
but they like his first drive in game one, they
end up punting.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
And so I'll come in on Monday boarding and I'll say, well,
the games looked exactly like practices have looked a little
bit of good, a little bit of bad. Nothing really
great going on, nothing really terrible going on.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Drives the team to the twenty five yard line, but
it stalls out the kick a field goal.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
Good drive, go with that.

Speaker 6 (35:44):
Solid drive, but looked like a lot of the two
minute warnings we saw this year in training camp.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Gets it's like it opens up like the Broncos did
last weekend. You know, we got a couple of big plays,
you got a nice touchdown.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
Yeah, we're ready to rock and roll.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
You make mincemeed out of the Saints in about five
or six plays for a touchdown.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
Yeah, hell yeah, we're ready rock and roll.

Speaker 6 (36:06):
Okay, it's exactly what they needed.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
One more long drive, patient drive, more run than pass,
and ten plays and you get a touchdown. Same thing,
great thing, beautiful Okay.

Speaker 6 (36:24):
And then if you have more runs and passes, you
might you might end up saying, well, maybe Sean Payton
will run the football this year.

Speaker 5 (36:30):
What about ten play drive, get down to the six
yard line? Interception?

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Yeah, I was just gonna go there, whose fault is it?

Speaker 5 (36:40):
Somebody?

Speaker 6 (36:41):
You told me every time Russell an interception was his fault?

Speaker 2 (36:46):
I was told who's the quarterback? Wasn't his fault, Dylan Gabriel.
I was told it was not his fault on the
pick six that he threw. That you know, the receiver
fell down and he did the right thing, that sort
of thing you throw touch interceptions in the end zone. Though,
that kind of sad.

Speaker 5 (37:00):
How long does a squash just stay.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
Moving on?

Speaker 5 (37:05):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (37:06):
I want to thank everybody.

Speaker 5 (37:07):
That was a serious question.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Well I'll get that. I just want to say, hey,
thank you ramos Law, the ramos Law Hotline car accident.
You need ramos Law medical doctor and attorney. You can
visit at Ramoslaw dot com. What's your squash question?

Speaker 5 (37:20):
The squash has been in this office for what feels
like two weeks now.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
I thought that was fake. Right here, right here, right here,
that's a real squash.

Speaker 5 (37:30):
I think that's a real squash.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
I thought it was okay.

Speaker 5 (37:33):
I thought it oozes. If I stick my fingernail.

Speaker 6 (37:37):
Into it, then I would say it's not right, but
don't need to be Is it like? Is it like?

Speaker 5 (37:43):
I mean to d Max point, I thought this thing
was fake for a long time because it's looked the
exact same way.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
How do you know it's real?

Speaker 5 (37:53):
Because it oozes when I stick my finger nail into it.
Is that the third time today you've not listened to me?

Speaker 2 (38:00):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
I mean I literally just repeated the same line I
said about thirty seconds.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Here's what it is. We have people heckling us outside
of the studio because we're in a fish bowl right now.
So I don't know if you've noticed it, but we.

Speaker 5 (38:09):
Got I mean, I need your help on this. My gosh.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Yeah, I can't believe you all are still listening.

Speaker 6 (38:16):
It's Friday for dmac too. I mean, okay, I'm the
one that's unfocused. Okay, he's probably a little Really I'm
the one. I'm the one that's not dialed in. Okay, gotcha.
You're probably looking at those those people looking at you
the thing and saying, I wonder if I get another
line about those guys? Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Okay, how's that radio station working out today?

Speaker 6 (38:39):
Scott? Oh? That way go? Well? You know what, and
you noticed I stayed away from talking about it. It
was all set up and everything.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
But you know, yeah, whose fault was that?

Speaker 6 (38:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (38:50):
Are you are your friends in Grand Junction or your
co workers here in Denver.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
It's clearly it couldn't be your fault.

Speaker 6 (38:57):
Oh no, it wasn't my fault. Of course, way above
my pay grade on on the setup, on something that
I've been involved in a million times. The problem is
it's a Friday, and when you need an engineer to help,
they've already caught the train.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
So we're just blaming society.

Speaker 5 (39:16):
So he's actually blaming his friends, then.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
I guess he is. I suppose you're throwing the grand junction. Boys,
was the problem on Scott?

Speaker 6 (39:26):
I think it was on our end.

Speaker 1 (39:28):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (39:29):
I don't know if anybody's giving an answer the other way.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Okay, it's our it's our somebody.

Speaker 5 (39:36):
Let's be real. It's dance fault. It's definitely dance fault.

Speaker 6 (39:41):
I mean, if I were to blame anybody, I would
blame Dan first and then and then uh, the the
unavailability of engineers to help him.

Speaker 5 (39:56):
I wouldn't mess with that one. What do you do
it now? I mean, Scott, you got than that.

Speaker 6 (40:05):
My name is Darren, No, it is not.

Speaker 5 (40:07):
I am so grateful to have good engineering.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
Me too, and I do not have the red stapler.
It's not mine whatsoever. It's all Scott Haysey's. That's that's
our guy right.

Speaker 6 (40:15):
There, I've had my old headphone, but you did, Hey,
but you did have the headphones.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
Yeah, well, ain't no doubt about that. It's kk S
F M H D one Broomfield, Denver, Boulder. Andy Lin
Dahlls joined in. Yeah, it's a quirky show. You got,
you got Sandford gonna be out there at Valor for
an hour or so right on the show, and the
a half hour and then is Nate Nate with us?
I don't even with you. Hey, Nate's good to see you.
