Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Columbus Hastings and DMAC on demand. Listen to
PhD Live every weekday from noon to three on Altitudes
Sports Radio ninety two five and on the Altitude Sports
Radio app.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Dude, I gotta say, man, I am blown away by
this practice Squad news with Sam Alighar.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I actually didn't believe it at first.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
You know what, I'm still struggling to believe it.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I chased it around because I did not believe it.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
And apparently there are at least two teams interested in
signing Sam Ellinger to the fifty three and he turned
him down.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
I wait, which means he turned down about three hundred
and four thousand dollars because, as we learned the other day,
there is a max that you could pay the guys
on the practice squad. It's not like, yes, that sounds
about right. I'll look it up here again in a minute.
But you know, it used to be you could pay
the guys billion bucks if you wanted to. Now it's

(01:02):
capped out. Call it four in the grand right.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I'm blown away.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
So are you blown away that somebody might want him? Well?
Here here's what it makes me think. It makes me
wonder if Sean said, hey, look, we got to play
the roster game here. A little bit will elevate you
it just give us a couple of weeks. Now.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I was told though, that's interesting. That's interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
I was told that it was as a third quarterback.
So there are other teams that were interested, not as
a backup, but they were going to roster three quarterbacks
and he was going to be that third quarterback. But
still the money. Yep, there's got to be something else
going on here. So welcome to conspiracy land.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
When it comes to question, let's see in two weeks
if he's still have the practice squatter, if they've elevated him.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
So you think they may elevate him but don't guarantee
his contract.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Well, I just can't figure out. I mean, listen, I
know Bunny's not everything, but financially turned it down extra
four hundred, five hundred thousand dollars, that's pretty nice.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
So right, absolutely, I didn't believe it. I did not
believe it.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
So uh again, I'll hey, George Peyton, gold star like
you somehow, or Sean Payton or something.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Sean must be like under get these guys.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Our bone knicks? Well, what the relationships and everything else.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I know their buddies and I know the wives are
all pals, and they went on vacation. They did all
that stuff together. They did that with Zach Wilson too,
you know. And still Jacksonville this year. What's that in
Jacksonville on the schedule. So it'll be interesting to see,
you know, how all the players get out and do
their stuff before the game.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
See what you be?

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Miami, Miami is where Zach Wilson is.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
I thought he was a Jackson Miami, Miami and he
made the squad.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Oh, I don't even know. Did he Did Zach Wilson
make the fifty three?

Speaker 4 (02:50):
I don't know, but check it out.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
I don't know. It's crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Lavelle Bailey did sign with the practice squad and we
have not Well, tell me Dan if I'm missing anything.
Do we know about Otter Guestimy yet or not? Guys,
maybe you can help me out too. So I heard
that he was not that happy and was unlikely to
even signed with the Broncos practice squad. But I was
also told earlier today Laville Bailly wasn't feeling great about it,

(03:19):
and he did sign with the Broncos practice squad. So
there you go. So we'll see we'll have news out
here shortly. Michael Bandy is back on the practice squad.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Caleb Blowner's back on the practice squad.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Okay, yeah, fill me in. What else you got? Who
else you got there?

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Jadd Robinson back on the practice squad, Reese Taylor back
on the practice squad, Garrett wallow Dlarryan Turner yell.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Okay, Quinton Newsome, I'm just seeing this. Plus Courney Jackson.
They lost Courtey Jackson, who's a pretty good returner and
he goes to the Seahawks practice squad.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
What else we got here?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
We did have a couple of players claimed, which was
who knew who got claimed? Jamary Mathis got claimed by Carolina. Okay,
so we kind of knew that was gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Good for him.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
He had the guard what was his name, Xavier Trust
Trust Xavier or something?

Speaker 3 (04:17):
He got claimed.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
He got claimed. I wanted to say, New Orleans, New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Interesting and then also to me, quite the impression. I
guess also in your preseason games, right, like, that's why
you take those things seriously.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
We had the fourth year and I can't remember this
dude's name, but he was a corner that I barely
even knew was on the team. He didn't have to
go through waivers because he was the best veteran he signed.
Gosh was the Bills he signed somewhere, so Prentiscoes. So
at least at least three guys went to fifty three.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
B Broncos actually signed him as a free agent. Gosh,
darn it. What was that guy's name? Gosh, as soon
as you say it all that way, nobody's saying it,
but I don't know it.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
But that's pretty good. Three guys got claimed to fifty threes. Yeah, yeah,
that's that's impressive. That shows you the depth of what
the Broncos. That's that's actually that's pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Well, how about how about the news with your fullback
is going to miss the season and they yeah, how
about the prentices back to the practice squad? Yeah, so
will he get elevated or will they still look?

Speaker 3 (05:21):
He won't get elevated in week one.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
But again, like Tyler says, you skip week one, you
come back for a non guaranteed for the rest of
the year.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
That makes you a yo yo player.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
But you can only yoyo three times already yesterday.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Sure, but it's three times. You know, it's a it's
a pretty healthy chunk.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
But if you get two guys, that's six games. You know,
three guys nine games.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, it gives you a lot of flexibility. And you know,
they tell these guys what's what. Plus Atkins will be
back in week I don't know, three four, something like that.
But yeah, Burton's out for the year. So we'll we'll see,
we'll see where Sean value, who's the full back and
whatever he wants to do, like a full back, full

(06:05):
back not just Atkins is a well.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
He always carries one.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
He does.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
My expectation is that if it's not week one, by
week two, you'll have a full back of the team.
It would tell me, which is what happened to Burton
last year, was yep.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
It would tell me to what other full backs out
there got released? You know, over twenty four hours, you know,
the past twenty four hours. I mean, who else is
out there?

Speaker 4 (06:25):
A guy named Alstat. Honestly, probably not that many because
probably because the teams that actually do carry a full back,
they probably make the roster.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
You're probably right, It's not like teams carry like three
full backs.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
To try out for the team.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
So right, you're right, you probably got and the problem
has been that way. They've had one and that's it.
He's our guy and that's it the end.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Well, when the Broncos first two Super Bowl teams, Howard
Griveth obviously a full back.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Oh it's a different day.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
And Anthony Lynn was your full back but also tight end,
so he would back up on both. Well, Michael Bandy
back on the practice squad.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah, wo King Davis left right, he's on somebody else's
practice squad.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
He's gone ski.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
So I didn't see where he wents. I was looking
for his name to come back. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Shoot he was nice.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Oh gosh, I know you in somewhere else again. My
memory not sharp, not sharp as attack doll is a
butter knife.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Its methylene blue.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
It's it's a mile.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
You got it with you? Yeah, I always put in
my car. I've been seeing that all over. TikTok. What
do you think? What are we doing it? For a while,
Bethlene Blue? You kind of feel well, it's a big
liver king thing, Scott. So you and the liver king
you're r f K and r f k.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
Okay, it's just as what is it it's the stuff
that goes in you're supposed to give me. Yeah yeah, okay,
cognitive abilities and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
It makes you sharper.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
I'll be I'll be curious what you think after a
couple of weeks, because people I read off of it
for about a week or so, and I and then
I tried it again. What is Monday? And I was like, well,
I was like Monday Tuesday. I was like, whoa, You're wired.
Like no, I wasn't wired. I was like just felt
I had a little clarity. Yeah. Yeah. So and I
didn't do it Tuesday, but I did Monday. So I said, well,
I'm do it today, okay, okay. And I put it

(08:20):
in my coffee. Were you like this nasty taste and stuff?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Were you like Zach Galfanakis and hangover? Just like everything
all of a sudden, the numbers and just it's spristle,
like everything is just ye.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I was like that one dude in Hunters, like just
putting numbers together. Speaking of can I just say something,
this is what I'm sitting at the table doing at
eight forty five nine o'clock last night.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Sixth grade math? Oh yeah, how'd you do on that
it's not the same as it once was either. No,
it's funny because I could get to the problems and
you get they got to take this number this there
divided by this number. Bah bah, you know, using digits
and dani and bing and to TPT buddy. Well, no,
but I can sit there and do it. I still

(09:03):
work in the long form, and I'm great and my daughters.
That's not how we do it. That's but I got
the right answer. Well, I don't know how to do it.
I said. You know the funny thing. When I was
taught this, and when I was in great school, they
called this new math, and I said, honey, what do
you old math?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
And I just asked a dumb question, seriously dumb question.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
But in elementary school, why wouldn't they just make sure
the kids know how to use a calculator on their.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Phone they get to on certain things.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Why didn't they your phones but calculators.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Why in the rest of your life do you ever
need to do math without the couch.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
So you're sitting there, You're sitting there trying to figure
out some problem when you're building some new steps for
your double wide, and all of a sudden you don't
have a calculator, handy, what are you gonna do?

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Who doesn't have a phone.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
Yeah, By then we'll have it linked our brain.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
The neuralink will be just you'll just think it and
I'll just when was the last time?

Speaker 4 (10:02):
I'm so lazy when it comes to learning.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
I'm more practical.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Your phone. Have you ever let your phone run down
of battery juice?

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Happened last night?

Speaker 4 (10:10):
All right? What HAPs if you had to do some
divisional loan division stuff like that?

Speaker 3 (10:14):
It happened?

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Could you do it? Hey? Do you know what mean
median and range is? I'm throwing this out there right
now for you guys. Remind me. Okay, we'll get no
dumb questions. This just reminded me of a parenting moment
I had regarding chat TPT and whether I'm a bad
parent or a good parent regarding academics.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Clearly a bad parents, obviously, No, No, I didn't.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
I didn't go. I didn't go with me. The skills
of justice moved.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
The premise you're saying, the premise you're a bad parent.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Okay, fair enough, fair enough.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
We'll get to it coming up.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
I'm looking forward to hearing what the details are Jeff
Lakewell will be with us about eight minutes. It looks
to me, guys Dan correct me if I'm wrong, But
there's still a couple of spots left on the Broncos
practice squad. I see him at fourteen. I believe they
get sixteen and as far as i'm seventeen, you get seventeen.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Okay, my bad.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
So I read article of days at sixteen two because
I thought it was sixteen. I sworn him seventeen. Oh well,
so you've got there's the extra spot. There's one extra
spot that's reserved for an international player. That's it that
I believe. If you don't use it, you can apply
it towards.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
The teams I'm reading here.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Teams can build sixteen player practice squads or seventeen player
squads with an international player?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Do we have an international?

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Not to buy knowledge? Okay, so it's sixteen flat, but
you can get to seventeen by adding that international.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Yeah, throwing a guy on from Australia. Keep a seventeenth guy.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
We had Manny when I was playing Many Many for
a couple of years from Mexico.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Yeah, yeah, that would count, right.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
So the Broncos at fourteen so two more spots unless
one of these do d is from a different country.
Is Calvin Throckmorton, Like it does that count? Well, he'd
be on the practice squad then, Sam Ellinger at Perry,
Michael Bandy, Adam Prentiss, Caleb Lohner, Calvin Throckmorton, Joe Mikkelsushke,

(12:16):
Jordan Miller, Lavelle Bailey, Jordan Turner, Garrett Wallow.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
In the Wahre three inside linebackers.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Rhese Taylor, Jaden Robinson, Delarian Turner yelled all guys who
were there so many they went heavy with their own guys.
So yeah, Joqing Davis not on that list are Guessa
may not on this that list right now, and Sam
Ellinger on that list.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Listen to what Andre Guest said, I think I read something.
I thought it was a tribute quote to him. These
guys don't treat you well, No one talks to you,
some sort of quotes like that. Vonti Williams, Oh, that
was Javonte Williams. Well with even that quote right there
is estimate filling different than maybe Jontay Williams feels yeah,

(13:02):
I mean I'm reading the writing on the wall. Yeah,
I've got no desire to come back here, but Clip
said he expect them to you back.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Not yet.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
But it's not fully announced either, so we'll see. We'll
keep tabs of it as it goes. That might that
one might be a little tricky. I agree with you.
If I'm messed. To me, I'm out of here. I've
I've had it, you know, whatever, the time to just
like uh Ralphie six, it's time for greener pastures.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
I want to you know, one full year.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
It's time for greener path Yep.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
I want to work on least want to walk.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Yeah, but you know where you stand. You know you
don't have a chance exactly. All stemming from a fumble
on this first carry as an NFL player.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
You know, one of the dumbest things in my life.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
That I did. God let me so much out the way.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
But after pursuing this girl relentlessly in high school, going
to the junior problem with her having a terrible time, stunningly,
I true to the senior prom. She said no, of course, rightfully,
So because I'm on, that's atter guess to me.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Yeah, he went to the prom. It didn't work out.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
He went with his buddies in the math club. The
problem wouldn't good. How'd you wound yourself?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Don't don't go to the prom again. Yeah, I'm going
to the problem with somebody else. It's nice that you're
trying to get me to go to the prom with you.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
I'll pass. I get I see where I sit with you.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
If he comes back to the Broncos practice squad, I'll
just assume he just really didn't get any other better offers.
And the fact that we don't see his name on
this list right now tells me that at.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Least they're looking.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, I mean it's at least kind of a you know,
deeper conversation.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Are sure the Broncos want him back on the practice squad?
I mean, I mean, yeah, I probably would. I would
love to have him back, running back to know the
system has been around for two years. If Watson was
completely healthy and you had a choice me an estimately Watson,
which when you're putting on the practice squad, well maybe both.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
But that's just not a choice they have to make
today because Watson's got this injury thing going on, So
it's it's just not a It might be a choice
at some point, but they don't have any running backs
on the practice squad right now?

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Full back? They had apprentice, but no running backs.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
All right, we'll follow it as we'll go, and we'll
just get an update straight up with Jeff Legwall coming
up next.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Look, Sam's the guy that we want back.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
Now.

Speaker 6 (15:29):
The league a few years back put in a rule
that allowed you to dress a third, but he had
to be on your active roster. Every team in this
league when the season starts is going to have three
in the building. And the question is just simply what's
the third in the building? Is he active or practice squad?

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Jeff Legwall joins us, brought to you by the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBW Local sixty eight. Start with
a job and with a career. And I'm seeing that
Tommy DeVito was signed on the fifty three by the Patriots.
So would you rather have Sam Ellinger or Tommy DeVito? Jeff,

(16:08):
how many teams were after Sam Ellinger to put him
on the fifty three. It's remarkable to me that he
would turn that down to be on the practice squad.

Speaker 7 (16:16):
Well, I think imax sometimes all of it, including me,
forget now that the money on the practice squad for
a veteran player is pretty is getting close to the
veteran minimum, and you know, you're if you get some
kind of assurance from the team that they're going to
keep you all year and you'll get all of those

(16:37):
checks and maybe get elevated a couple of times, you
can you can sort of make almost minimum vetteran money
to be in a situation you want to be in,
work with coaches you want to be with. So I
think that's impacted if he make this decision. If he's
a player six seven years ago, I doubt it. But

(16:59):
now the money is a little different, and you know,
a veteran player can work this out a little better
than before. But you know, they wanted him back yesterday,
and we're already talking about it, and I've been told
that one or two teams had had offered him to
interesting be on the active roscar.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
Yeah, and I'm wondering, Jeff, if this might simply it
might be as simple as this. They didn't want to
put him on the day one roster because they don't
want to guarantee a salary for the year, So they
told the guy, hey, hang out for a week or two,
you'll be elevated. I mean, could you see him getting
elevated or do you think he's going to stay on
the practice squad.

Speaker 7 (17:38):
You know, it's hard to say. You know, I think
some of these injured guys are impacting. You know. You know, Adkins,
for example, has a roster spot and you know, is
it ready to play? So I think he I think
he might have made it, you know, if they didn't
have some of these other things going on. But you're right,

(17:59):
I mean, that's all so done too, is uh. You know,
it used to be far more common that two or
three veteran players would be released and then re signed,
but you know, two days after cutday and then you
know three three other guys would be cut so they
wouldn't have to guarantee the salary. But uh, I think

(18:19):
for like I say, I think the money's close to
enough now. If you're the player, and you're a vested veteran,
you know, it does give you the ability to sort
of decide where you want to be instead of getting
claimed by a struggling team or someplace where you don't
think you're gonna get the coaching you might you might want.
You know, Zach Wilson turned his you know, one year's

(18:42):
stint into a six million dollar deal, you know, and
he didn't play in the game, you know, last year.
So uh but I think, you know, Davis Webb has
fought really highly of around the league, and I think
this is now to two quarterbacks, you know, Zach Will
So that was always very clear. He thought Davis Webb

(19:03):
was a big part of getting him squared away, and
I think that played a part in Ellener's decision too.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
I know we got here, we got you here to
talk about practice squad and cuts and blah blah blah,
but you brought the name up that I had the
big take on Monday. In my opinion, they need to
do everything they can over the next year or so
to make sure they retain David's love, including I think
they ought to let him start being the play caller
this year. What are your thoughts on all that.

Speaker 7 (19:34):
I think it's really hard, I guess I should say.
In my experience in this it's been I haven't seen
very many head coaches who are the offensive play callers
surrender that for anything other than things are really going
poorly and we need another set of eyes. I have

(19:55):
to do something. I mean, they've added to his title,
uh this year, David Webb's title, you know. And they've
they did let him very you know, publicly say that
he's calling plays in a preseason game, and and they've
done all of those things. But at some point, you know,

(20:17):
I think the decision's going to come to a head.
Somebody's going to offer him very soon. I believe next
offseason the chance to call plays for somebody and have
some impact in creating the playbook. And I'm not sure
the Broncos could battle that. And I think the Broncos
know it that at some point, uh, they won't be

(20:39):
able to keep him, because you know, Sean Payton is
this team's play caller, and I get no sense he,
you know, he'd be willing to shift that because he
never did in New Orleans to retain a coach or
anybody he felt strongly about.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
Play though their best offensive input was the game that
the Davis called all the plays, did it?

Speaker 7 (21:03):
Yeah, I think you can probably say some of that
was for sure, But you know what, I don't think
he had voted any event, Dave, I'm not sure. I
can't remember. Now I'm moving on from the preseason. No,
you know, I just Scotty. I think they know it's
gonna be a decision, and there they would have a
hard time battling. You know, that's the right kind of offer.

(21:25):
I mean, late in Gary Kubiak's time with the Broncos
as an assistant, you know, Mike used to let them
call plays at times during games and that type of
thing to keep them and to keep them engaged. But
eventually Gary got uh the offer he could no longer

(21:46):
say no to, which at the time was to be
a head coach for the Houston Technics.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
Well, now that the roster has decided, do you see
any anything unusual on the roster that you think they
might get corrected and the next I don't know, four
to eight hours or so.

Speaker 7 (22:03):
Well, I mean they didn't put in any waiver claims
and there were this year. Wow, you know, you don't
see that many many year. I think last year there
were fourteen or fifteen league wide, and I think this
year there were thirty, So a lot more teams making
claims this year, le Broncos weren't one of them. But

(22:23):
you know, again, I think that's shows you they feel
pretty good about the roster, and I think it would
take a lot or an injury for them to make
any major adjustments. I mean, they'll do some jockey in
here if you know, the right player pops from from
some of these other teams. But we'll get out to

(22:45):
practice here at a minute and we'll see what you know,
if any of the early arrivals are participating. But as
of about an hour ago, I didn't get a sense
they were in the mix for for any major.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
What do you know about estimate?

Speaker 7 (23:05):
No, just that he's he wasn't going to come back here,
and that through his other his other options. I was
told I did not talk to Odric. I should say
that up front. I didn't talk to Audric himself, but
I was told he was not interested in a return
to the Broncos practice squad, and I and I'm not.

(23:25):
I don't know that the Broncos would offer either. So
I put it all on him.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Why why wouldn't they did, not saying you know, yeah
you did. I'm asking why, but you did?

Speaker 3 (23:35):
Scott. Scott's doing a little victory lap year, Jeff, No.

Speaker 7 (23:39):
I mean, I just think he knows what they think
of him. I put him at RB five in camp.
Why why would you come back here and say oh,
thanks for putting me at RB five. Uh yeah, let
me let me play on your practice squads. So I mean,
I you know, there are only thirty two teams, so
you know, at some point have to come back if

(24:01):
that's you know, for some reason, what he would have
down the road. But as of now, I was told
he's looking at other things. I think I think the
Browns are an option certainly, and I keep an eye
on that. They need some help it running back.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Okay, all right, Jeff, anything else we should know, anything
else that caught you by surprise or roster wise, or
anything else that's got your interest. We enjoyed your opus.
By the way, whenever you write like a ten thousand
word piece in ESPN, is like, wow, that looks hard
to do, but really cool, cool stuff.

Speaker 7 (24:34):
Oh no, I think it's I think it's interesting around
the league how people who know Sean are looking at
him differently here because it's because Greg Tennor has a
far bigger voice and what goes on with the Broncos
and then Tom Benson or Tom Twife did with the
Saints and Seank had to attack. You know, yeah, he's

(24:57):
got plenty of decision making opinion here and they do
a lot of things he wants to do. But this
is a lot different situation than New Orleans, and other
people in the league have notice.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
Hey, I don't know if we've ever asked you, how
would you grade? It's still early in the tenure, but
the Pinners as an ownership group so far.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
Well, I would say I think they're they're just starting
to flex the muscle they have, and other people in
the lead. Again, I talked to gms and other folks
who say, look, we all know there's no salary cap
on scouting or coaching or technology or buildings or travel

(25:42):
or you know. The only thing there's a salary cap
on in the NFL is player salary. And the ownership
of resources can do as much as it wants with
everything else, and Walton Tenner group has more than anybody
else else in the NFL, and the rest of the
NFL knows it. And this new building they're putting up,

(26:07):
well quite a message for everyone else. And I would
guess you'll soon see a lot of other people doing
remodels or restructures of their facilities because that counts a
free agency and the rest of it.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Hey, really quick, Jeff, where are you on the Burnham
Yard broncos or the Lune Tree broncos.

Speaker 7 (26:27):
You know, I'm old school. I grew up in the city,
so I always think of you know, look, I get
the politics and the money and all the rest of it.
I fully understand all of that. In the real estate
and everybody wants to make a killing, I got it.
But I always think teams should be in the cities
that they're that's in their names.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
Yeah, but you know, and I know it's not in
their names, but you know, Green Bay is not in
Milwaukee where you grew up.

Speaker 7 (26:57):
Yeah, you keep keep pushing that. Tell people you went
to Auburn.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
And on that note, we appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Jeff Lakewalt, brought to you by the International Brotherhood of
Electrical Workers i v W Local sixty eight.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Start with the job and with a career. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Jeff lit right there, little Zingsangs.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
He grew up Chicago, so he was a big Bulls
fan back when I was the Pistons. But always telling me,
you grew up in the suburbs of Milwaukee is where
he's actually from.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Gocha, gotcha?

Speaker 2 (27:31):
The Morning Show had Wellington web on because yeah, yeah,
his his argument was well like I was like, oh,
why you know why Denver.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Yeah, it was like Denver's Denver.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Like that is kind of a like, listen, I understand,
give me a little something more than just Denver's Denver.
Give me, give me something else besides that. I mean,
I get that everybody understands what I think.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Part of his uh sales pitch, I guess whatever you
would call it UH was that it's it's one of
it felt like it used to always be all the
city's had all three or four the major sports right
there downtown right and Denver is one that still got
it and and and and and that's something that is

(28:15):
cool and something's unique about this city. And they belong
with other teams as well. They're all within what a
three or four five mile blanket of each other.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Yeah really yeah, but you know most cities are not
like that. Yep, Philadelphia is they got all their their
stadiums are like from each other. It's kind of crazy
how that's located. But you realize, I get it. That's
in Philadelphia. It's that's on the outskirts Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (28:40):
Yeah, it's not downtown Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
It is not downtown Philadelphia to the degree when I
was out there, like, are we still in Philadelphia? I mean,
I guess we are because that's where Burnham Yards is.
It's kind of then the like, are we still this
is still Denver?

Speaker 4 (28:53):
Huh? Okay? All three of those stadiums are right there,
like within a block of each other.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
I mean, what other city with all four sports teams
does have them all in the city?

Speaker 3 (29:06):
Who Denver? Right now? We do right now? Who else?

Speaker 4 (29:12):
The Nickson? But I think that was part of the
sales pitches. It makes us unique and that it's cool.
It would just be like everybody.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Definitely not New York because the Giants Jets are out
in New Jersey, so they're out Boston.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
No, Foxborough is you know wherever where?

Speaker 4 (29:28):
You know?

Speaker 3 (29:29):
Where the hell are they don't have basketball.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Miami?

Speaker 3 (29:35):
They got them all spread.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
It really is football stadium in another town actually.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
But okay, so no, so is a football staium in
another town?

Speaker 4 (29:47):
See, I think, yeah, I can't remember the name.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Ain't them now?

Speaker 4 (29:50):
The the hockey and basketball play downtown.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
Baseball's on the edge by the water somewhere, aren't they.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
I think that is pretty downtown.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
And I think the baseball seam is like right there,
So maybe Miami, but even that spread out a little bit.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
Who else? Detroit?

Speaker 4 (30:09):
No, anybody? Where did Detroit build their their football stadium? Oh?

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Man, are they downtown?

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Maybe Detroit is owing Mills or wherever they move is
that downtown?

Speaker 4 (30:27):
They moved the basketball team back downtown with the Red
Wings building.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Okay, Tigers are downtown, right, so maybe Detroit Detroit.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
They don't have basketball, but Cincinnati's got them both downtown.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
But they don't have that. They don't have hockey either.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
Worse, Cleveland's football compared to Cleveland's.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Right, downtown is right next to the Rock and Hall
Hall of Fame, but they don't have hockey. You know,
there aren't many cities like ours. Let's face it, we
are awesome in terms of sports city. If you want
to make that claim to keep a sports city alive,
you win that one.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Although somebody, well, but you realize we're the exception not
the rule. You know, most cities aren't doing what Denver
is proposing to do. We may be it, I mean Detroit,
maybe I don't know.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
Well, And like I said, there's fans in la.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Or where is where is everything in la Oh?

Speaker 4 (31:19):
It's all spread out? Yeah, vomber the I guess.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
It's another thing, like Chavez Ravine is the closest to
like actually downtown La Chevez Ravine is.

Speaker 4 (31:32):
Probably the closest to the actual downtown.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
La Okay, And like where what do you guys think
the heart of Denver is? Like what is Denver.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
Tech Center? Yeah, cast Castle Rock, lovel Tree.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
You know, you start getting conversations.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
I just I disagree with you on the heart of Denver.
Deal with part of yards. I mean to me, that's
definitely Denver. I like I would say, once you drive
past Broadway on I twenty five or Lincoln anything from
that point all the way up to like seventy is
downtown Denver. How about a du It's called Denver University,

(32:15):
so you started at university? Is a stress? That's dontwn.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
I bet they have a Denver mailing address, but that's
that feeling I had.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
I had a Denver mailion address where I lived in
the Tech Center. Listen, that Metro is downtown and Burnam
Yard is two blocks for Metro.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Okay, you know, whatever I mean, it'll be what it'll be.
But I just wanted to point out the whole argument
that you got to keep it downtown because that's what
sports and cities do.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
No, no, no, that was it. That was the opposite of it.
It was that that's what makes us unique.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Okay, and that's a big deal.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
I think it's cool. I do think it's cool.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Okay. Well, I'm not an anti downtown guy. I'm not.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
I'm just questioning, like how much we stretching things. That
is downtown is downtown, you know. So if you're telling
me that's still downtown, and okay, I think it's a stretch,
what's downtown to you?

Speaker 3 (33:11):
I would I would say.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
The heart of downtown, like I would consider like a ballerina,
like the ear lobe. You know, it's just it's right there.
It's just slightly on the other side of Spear. But
like to me, if you go at Union Station and
you draw a circle around the State Capitol Building in
that area and you could throw maybe parts of Rhino
in there through Market Street Larimer, that sort of thing,

(33:36):
to me, that's downtown Denver. That's what it is to me.
So it involves a sixteenth Street mall, State Capitol Building.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
Yeah, I'm much bigger than Larimer. I'm going basically anything
east of my twenty five. If you're heading north on
twenty five, you pass Broadway, anything east of there basically
up to seventy.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Oh wow wow, oh wow.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Okay, that's downtown to me, that big that's Denver. See.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
To me, when I think of Denver, I think of
the skyline, and if you fit within kind of the
skyline that I see, it's like, okay, well that's Denver.

Speaker 4 (34:07):
I got it. I would go maybe Broadway to twentieth
on twenty five Broadway, Okay, I mean so you're you're
you're stopping it at at Course. Yeah, basically, yeah, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
I could I could dig that some up yours, Rhino,
you're not you any part of it.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
But.

Speaker 4 (34:26):
Broadway's north Denver. You gotta go about as far south
as Broadway though, right, yeah, because you got that all
that way downtown cool stuff down there. All right.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Well, hey man, it's an interesting conversation for sure, and
we'll see where.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
Listen. I know that when they put in Course Field
that was considered downtown and that was not a very
nice are so fine.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
If you're telling me Burnham Yards will turn into the
next low Dough, you're selling me a pen.

Speaker 4 (34:54):
That's a fact. I mean wherever it goes, it will
turn into that. Yes, okay, are you need what they
would build there?

Speaker 2 (35:02):
I'm not dotting what they'll will try. I have a
hard time in my head imagining people going there.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
I do.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
I'm struggling with it.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
Dude. You're the one that said they would go to
Pueblo they leblo. I mean, yeah, wherever they build it,
they will go. It literally does not matter where they
build it.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
On Sundays for home games, people will go anywhere. That
doesn't matter. What I'm talking about is everything else that
goes around it. But you know, like the Broncos Stadium
now is beautiful, there's really no reason for a new stadium.
The biggest problem is there's nothing around it of of consequence,
because you're fenced in by federal and you can't do
anything with that, and I twenty five there's just nothing.
There's nothing there. You can't there's no reason to really

(35:39):
go there unless there's an event there. But these other places, like.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
A course field, you're just you know, half the mile
your a pedicab from from Wow.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
And when Bronchi takes care of what they want to
do at Ballerina, that's gonna be that's gonna be a
downtown that's gonna be if that all comes.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
There's your new downtown. There's your new Course Field and
McGregor's Square.

Speaker 4 (36:05):
Once that gets built. That Birnab Yard is about two
blocks ofuf of that.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
So so how many downtown are we gonna get?

Speaker 4 (36:12):
Like?

Speaker 3 (36:12):
What are what are we doing here?

Speaker 4 (36:13):
I feel like one giant downtown. Wow, we'll say this
Denver's creeped into the tech Center, hadn't it. Remember when
they first put up the Tech Center? You probably do.
I mean you even where you lived over in Cherry
Creek area that used to be way outside. I was,
yeah that anymore.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
No, we'll see, we'll see where it goes. The politicking
is already happening. I have laughing that this little tiny town,
less than fifteen thousand people, a mall is Loane Tree,
and all of a sudden, a mall, a little tiny
town of fifteen thousand people with a mayor who was
a hairdresser a couple of years ago, is battling with

(36:53):
billionaires for where to put the broncos. It's it's wild,
everything crazy. It's Kacy here on ninety two five.

Speaker 6 (37:08):
Well, look, sometimes sometimes it's a combination of things, you know,
and look, I had a long visit with him today
in his career is not by any chance over you know,
there's and so really not uncommon for a fifth round selection.
And yet there's also a credit to the Day's experience

(37:35):
but also some of his versatility. Clearly, when you add
and have the ability to sign a Dobbins and draft
to Harvey, you know that room changed immediately and the
competition changed immediately.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Well that something when Jeff Legwell goes Yeah, I don't
know if the probos would be even interested in signing
estimated their practic squad.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
So, oh, we have an addition here.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
So the practice squad, Oh, Quentin Newsome, I think is
the uh the new one there? So Darien turn Jaden Robinson,
Quentin Newsom, Reese Taylor, Garrett Wallow, Jordan Turner, Leavell Bailey,
Jordan Miller, Joe McCleskey, Calvin Throckmoorn and Caleb Loner, Adam Prentice,
Michael Bandy, At Perry and Sam Ellinger. And means they
have a room for one more dude and one more.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
Guy from Europe. Yeah, well anywhere outside of the United States.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
What do you think I mean?

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Be Australia.

Speaker 4 (38:33):
Do we call it? What do you think? Oh? Yeah,
you called it? Well, you called it well you I
pointed it out for you. Yeah. I mean I was
already observant. I was waiting for it. But but yeah,
you called it. Yeah, you called it. Has to do
with you. Go ahead once again. You run the water
dry on the Currican, don't fill it up. Oh my god,

(38:57):
freaking way down your coffee. And I look at Tyler
and I pointed to the watergo real low, and he goes, oh,
I'm already watch it.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
So on the coffee you had already filled up. Yeah,
And then I filled up a cup.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
The last one, last one. Somebody somebody used the water
for the first one too. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
I used to the Negligent Water film.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
You know.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
Dan Tanner's interesting.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
Dan Tanner's criminal on that.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
So every time you get a cup of coffee, you always.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
Cheah if it's low, I am you can check to
see if it's low. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
So if the blue light's not on when you start
the coffee, it's not on, you still you should still
check it, everybody. I am guilty of that. I will admit.

Speaker 3 (39:46):
If it's if I don't see the little light.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
Are you like the husband that that man? It's amazing.
I got this big power where I put my dirty
clothes and but once a week, all of a sudden,
they're folded and put on my bed. Magic's magic. Every
time I can to the water coffee at the curate,
it's always magic. Yeah. All we're saying is bring a

(40:08):
little magic in your life. We're just saying that. You know,
there was a reason why we're both observant of it.
You know you're your habitual repeater, habitual, habitual, Yeah, habitual,
that's right, Yep, yep, And listen, curious, you're not You're
not the king.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
I'm not the king. I watched the Duchess.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
You're you're Yeah, you're a young princeling.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
I'm a young prince.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Yeah, yeah, you're a young ling. Prince you're still young.
You've got time, though, to overthrow the king.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Listen, who's the king?

Speaker 4 (40:43):
Tanner? Tanner? I think Dan drinks now much coffee? Well
he does, got somebody do it one time and he's like, oh.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Dan, Dan, that's clearly what's going on here. By the way,
if you can't tell, they used to.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
Water that has its own filter. And I've seen Tanner
twy dropped that thing to like there's like two quarter
inch of water left, and then he put it in
the fridge. Just fill it up. I called you out
on once one time on it, so I probably glad
I don't have to live with Scott.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
I have love you guys, love working here, love the
whole thing we do. I have never worked at a place
where people are more like careful about the little things
that you.

Speaker 3 (41:26):
Do at work.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
Then he's still the water. I mean, it's just I
should not see you before the show. I don't know.
You can't fart and have smelly farts around here. I
can't take my bike through the front door. Well, keep
the bike in the office. Can't keep the bike in
the side.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
That boss got fired? What are you?

Speaker 3 (41:50):
The bike is its own.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
Do you remember what happened last time I called him
out on the water thing? So last time I called
him out on it, he actually did fill it up. Okay,
so it was empty when he got there, so he
went to the faucet. He filled it up just enough
for his one cup, and then by the time he
filled up his one cup, I had to go refill
it again. Well, you gotta get back on the air.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
How did you ever survive that particular day.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
But I'm just saying that was that was.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
That was even more selfish heroes coming.

Speaker 3 (42:22):
You know, he steals up.

Speaker 4 (42:24):
The water cup. Who does that? And by the way,
I'm proud of you when you come in sweat.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
I've been told not to do that, so I.

Speaker 4 (42:44):
Definitely said about it. Basically, you had all the traffic
jam and you got here literally to maybe a minute
before the shot. Work out. Almost every single day.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
I changed my whole roots.

Speaker 4 (42:55):
I'm proud of you doing that.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
And and I'm wearing better clothes to you know, because
I got a change of clothes.

Speaker 4 (43:02):
So so you bring it or keep them here.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
I bring a change of clothes every day.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
Wow, we don't just keep one here.

Speaker 3 (43:08):
I have some here and it's kind of I mix
it up a little bit.

Speaker 4 (43:11):
But you're not using your office. And by the way,
since you got somewhere change Scott, you go to the bathroom.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
I right now have the biggest office in this entire building,
all upstairs.

Speaker 3 (43:21):
It is the secret sauce that is kind of hysterical.

Speaker 4 (43:25):
You know, we got two carrokes. Why don't you take
one up there?

Speaker 2 (43:28):
It's very very tempting. I have not hung anything up there,
but I have clearly established the biggest office in this
whole place that I've ever had in my career.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
And you overlook and everybody else.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
So really, I'm in the spot.

Speaker 4 (43:44):
Don't they have windows on it?

Speaker 6 (43:45):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (43:45):
Huh?

Speaker 3 (43:46):
So where do you change right there?

Speaker 4 (43:47):
With windows? Well, it's windows to nothing all yeah, alley
and some chevrolat.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
Nobody's up there. I don't know if our staff understands.

Speaker 4 (43:58):
The old place.

Speaker 3 (43:59):
When you got in for changing in front of that
was unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
I got thirty seconds to tell that story. Yeah all right,
so golly, the old place. This is really ridiculous. This
did happen, by the way, KS one oh seventy five,
a radio station moved out. They were gone, and that
room their.

Speaker 4 (44:19):
Studio, was split to a whole new company.

Speaker 2 (44:22):
Yeah, but nothing went in. It just was empty. It
was an empty room that they were occasionally doing. There's
nothing there. Through that room you could look at a
studio like a producer's studio, and through that studio was
the old program director's office. So you got to look
through like four panes of glass. Well, nobody was in.
You gotta understand this is an empty studio, empty offices, right,

(44:43):
So at the old place, I would say, well, where's
the one place I can go where literally nobody would
ever see me?

Speaker 3 (44:50):
And it was that back office.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
So I was like, nobody's here, nobody's here, and so
I just you know, put the bike and the clothes
and I would change my clothes unbelievably, Unbelievably, somebody one day,
unbeknownst to me, because I'm not trying to show off
look at me, sees me changing through the four planes
panes of window that's doing some sort of work in

(45:12):
a studio that doesn't exist, and complained about me to HR.
True story. I got called in by HR for getting naked. Yes,
and I didn't get it wasn't naked. You take your
shirt off, you take your bike, pants off, So it's
you know, I'm not jumping around there naked or something.

(45:33):
I'm not flashing. Unbelievable. You got a memory like an
elephant on that HR had a meeting with HR.
