PhD Live every weekday from noon to three on Altitude
Sports Radio ninety two five and on the Altitude Sports
Radio App.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
We reflect on the cuts and everything that happens and
what was what is the biggest Broncos news? And I'll
throw out a suggestion here, by the way, can I
just point out that I am not filling or not
filling the coffee thing and Tyler is not here as
(00:37):
we begin this hour, so we cannot use that as
an excuse.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
I just want to throw that out there. Well, not
because of me.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
No, you've shied away from the Third Cup. Dan.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
You gotta love if you get caught doing something one
time unintentionally, you you can be accused of it as
a repeat.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Defenders ten years ago. I'm still hearing about it.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Sorry, would you say something on John Wayne Gazy? Yeah,
that's what he said, John wayn Gaizy one time and
the big Bronco.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Question, Like the bridge Builder once said.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Sam Ellinger, with options to sign on A fifty three,
decides to stay with the Broncos on their practice squad.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Why if that is completely true, then then Greg Penner,
George Payton and Sean Payton are actually building something that
we don't get to see because we're not allowed.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Wait, are you doubting the veracity of the story.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
No, I'm just saying, if that's true, well, you got
a chance to be on a fifty three man roster,
and I agree with Leggy said, there's probably more guarantees
you're gonna be here all year. Don't worry about it.
And maybe if you go sign somebody fifty three doesn't
mean in week two that you're not dropped. Yeah, I'd
mean listening, Uh, I struggle to believe it if I'm
being totally honest. So I mean, I'm not calling you
(02:00):
by a liar by any means. I'm just saying it was.
It's like hard to believe it really is. I mean,
if you had an offer to be on a fifty
three band roster, now listen, I looked it up out
of curiosity. Okay, So Sam Aliger is a year five, right,
And I know we talk about the fact that you
get paid a lot of money on an NFL practice squad,
and that's true. You can in comparison to the real world, right, Yeah,
(02:21):
I mean you can make the maximum, the absolute maximum
you can make as a vested veteran on an NFL
practice squad is three hundred and ninety six thousand dollars, okay,
four and a grand right, Sam is in year five? Okay.
If he were to be on a fifty three man roster,
the minimum that he could make in the NFL is
(02:42):
one point one seventy five million dollars. Right, So he's
passing in theory a seven hundred grand Yeah, okay.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yeah, Lake. He made it sound like, all right, here's what.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
To answer your question. Like, the only thing that makes
sense out of this to me is that the Denver
Broncos Sean Payton would have told them, Hey, listen, we
need a week then you're going to be on that
active roster, right right, right, So so for go one
game check and you can stay in the town that
you're liked. But I don't know, you're not.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Going to lose seven hundred thousand. You would lose the
equivalent of seventy thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
You would want to lose. You'd lose one seventeenth of
that seven hundred thousand, seven hundred thousand of the actual
seven hundred Right get paid by one point one. Well
the seven hundreds of.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
That, So that means there's likely somebody on the team
right now who made the fifty three that may only
be on the team for one more week.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Well, I mean, if my theory's true, which I've got
no proof of it, I'm just trying to make logic
out of this thing on why a human being would
pass on seven hundred thousand dollars. Yeah, I agree, Like
I said, I if it's not about the money, and
a lot of us humans look at an extra seven
hundred thousand dollars, is being pretty good now. Legy did
point out that the Brons say, listen, we guarantee you're
(03:59):
going to be you're going to make that Is it guaranteed?
If you go for a week and on another team
and they let you go, then what he lose? He
is he guaranteed for the whole year. If he's on
on day one of fifty three, yes, yes, Oh, then
I don't know why. If he's on the day one
active active roster, yes, he's vested. To me, that lose
(04:22):
some veracity to the to the truth a little bit.
But say say he did, then the only other reason
you would stay is that there has to be something
special cooking with the Broncos well, otherwise the true store
is not true either way.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Like Tommy DeVito got cut by the Giants, but he
signed on the fifty three of the Patriots, so they're
carrying three guys. From what I was told, Ellinger's opportunity
was as the third guy, but on a fifty three.
I think if he was offered like the backup spot,
maybe it would have been different.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
But I don't know. Seven grand still seven hundred grand, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
But I'm leaning towards what you're saying, like, if I'm
gonna be the third guy, I'm the third guy. Where
am I the most comfortable? And it does make sense
to me that he's about to bounce up and down
on the active roster. There's gotta be a way that
they're gonna make more money, because you're right, giving up
seven hundred thousand dollars is insane, Like why would you
do that?
Speaker 3 (05:15):
That makes no sense whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Especially if it's fully guaranteed for the rest of the season.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
But being the third quarterback, you know, I get it,
Like you're the third quarterback no matter where you go.
So maybe that's the play. Maybe the Broncos have promised him. Hey, man,
like hang in there now, there's another conspiracy theory that
you know, Jared Stindham is only going to be here
for what a year? How long is Jared Stindham gonna
be with the Broncos? Who is going to be the backup?
(05:43):
And Sidham makes what five six million a year? So
if Ellinger can be a little patient, maybe there's a
better payoff for him as a long term backup to
bow Nicks.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
Maybe, But I mean he's gonna I guess that that
that's assuming a lot. It's going pretty far out there
for a dude that's buried on depth chart. Like, guys
that look into the future like that are starters. Guys
that look into the future on contracts are dudes that
can see their future. They know that I've already done,
I've earned it, Like like banking on someone leaving, they're
(06:16):
still liking me. I don't know that.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
No, All right, well let's let's back this train up
a little bit. What do you think Stidham's future is?
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Well, I don't know. It feels really easy right now
to be like next year, there's gonna be some team
out there that is gonna want Jared Stidham as their
bridge quarterback for a year to develop somebody behind them.
Things change really quick in the NFL, and what you
did in a preseason a full year removed, ain't nobody
(06:46):
remembered it.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
He did have the best preseason numbers for you.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
If you're on the practice squad seventeen weeks and you
make them, and I rounded it to four hundreds just
for easier math, you're making twenty three twenty two, five
hundred plus a week, or seventeen weeks. If you're on
the squad at the vetrimentium, as you said one point one,
you're making one hundred and eighty seven thousand dollars a week.
(07:13):
There's a big difference. So at the very least, they said, listen,
we're gonna guarantee you at least six more weeks up on,
we're gonna keep you all seventeen. We're gonna get guarantee
you at least six games in the NFL on the
fifty three. So that's now what another six hundred thousand.
That's the only way that you do it, don't you.
And you think that they got some cooking here, well,
(07:35):
but it still would not up because you still miss
those six weeks. I understand what you get six weeks
in one eighty seven instead of twenty three. That's a
big difference. And maybe you're not getting the one to one,
but now you're getting closer to nine hundred at the
end of the year or eight hundred. You can swallow it.
If you think that there's something cooking with the brother.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I guess, man, and that is where Sean Payne is.
He must be magical with Sam Ellinger, I guess because
if I'm Sam Ellinger, I don't care. It's two teams.
I got two teams who are interested in me. I
just saw Tommy DeVito go on the fifty three for
the Patriots. Would you rather have Sam Ellinger or Tommy DeVito?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
I don't know. Tommy's not bad, okay, But.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I'm just saying there's teams out there signing Tommy DeVito,
who was just cut by the Giants. Like I do
believe there were at least two teams two that would
be willing to spend a roster spot on Sam Ellinger.
To me, I'm shocked by this.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
I mean, yesterday, nobody in this room thought that he'd
be on a fifty three band roster. So as of
yesterday we all thought nobody, there's nobody that wants it. Oh,
we were on.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
I guess you're right, but I guess we were on.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
I don't know if we were.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
You're not buying it, No, you're not buying the two teams.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Huh. I'm just doing math here, boys, Okay, math on
this one.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Well it's it's it doesn't make any sense. But Leggy,
we had Leggy on. He confirmed it.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
That's what Leggy said. I don't know, man, great for
the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Another you want to just talk about another cool like
personnel move for the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
This is it?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Hey.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
By the way, there was something kind of funny.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yes see, did you did you catch how Sean Payton
is going to develop Crosshaw crash Ang Redemption. They got
a whole plan, like they're they're they're pointing out our
punters thinks and we have to do more to develop it.
So here here's how they're going to develop the punter.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Listen and keep working with them and developing and and
and that's part of it, you know, that's part of it.
But I think we're going to be happy with with
with him. And uh and his his ability and and look,
it seems to always be that first punt. And so
(09:49):
when we're going to create some situations where right in
the middle of a practice we'll have a punt and
that before we get to a punt period, you know,
and and so because the the reality of it is
that you get in at bat you know, you don't
you don't get like four at bats, five at bats,
and so trying to create those singular events for him
(10:11):
I think will help too.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Huh.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
So they're just gonna blow with a punt and he's
gonna run onto the field and hit.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
A punt, I guess.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
So, well, how typical is that in an NFL practice?
Speaker 4 (10:26):
Never seen it done.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
So we're gonna put pressure on a guy like.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Like we would do things with our kickers, not like
in the middle of practice, not like just at a
random period, but we would do things with our kickers where,
you know, you get to the field goal period and
Mike would bring up the entire team to be within
two yards of the kicker and hooting and hollering and
(10:51):
jumping and screaming. You have people walking in front of
them and doing stuff like that. Right, So we definitely
would do things to try to mess with them, but
in terms of like interrupting the practice, never seen that.
And you know, in training camp, going back to early Shanahan,
you watch a Tom Ruin and Jason Elim of the
other our twenty seven sitting there, sitting over there on
(11:15):
the other field, away from the team, trying to see
who could throw or kick a football into a bucket.
They spend hours with one of those big gray trash
cans and either throw or kick a ball into a
bucket for hours.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Does it not tell you something that you've got a
Jerry rig your practice or something that.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
You say shows he ain't ready, Right, he's.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Not an NFL kicker yet. Yeah, but they like three
out of the four punts. It's just that first one.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
I didn't even get the analogy.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
You don't get four at bats, you only get one
at bat, so we're gonna give him me a bat.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Well, but if you met, if they were real at
bats and he was hitting three thirty three, you feel
pretty good about him.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
If you're a baseball player not an NFL punter.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Yeah, he's an NA thousand close to it, I mean
nine fifty at least, right, I mean, like you know
you're a drafted punter and we're gonna Jerry rig practice
for your development.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Okay, all right, And all I can say is I
really do.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Okay you asked a while ago. Here's a football question.
You asked Shuder, when would should start? Yes, Which Tuesday
in the season will they bring in a try out
for another punter? Good question? How far into the season?
What Tuesday? What Tuesday on the calendar, on the schedule,
will we see another punter?
Speaker 2 (12:35):
You lost because you didn't want to do better than
a two year, six million dollar deal, an established NFL punter,
ironically who you did draft in Riley Dixon. Then you
lost him to the Giants. Then you brought him back.
But you had a guy who could do the job,
Riley Dixon. He can do it, and you lost him
for this guy, and now we're Jerry rigging practices. If
(12:57):
they lose a game, it's so bad with Alex Foresight.
When that happened in special teams, two guys lost their
jobs essentially because Forest, because I'm not gonna play Foresight,
but like that got screwed up. Two coaches lost their jobs,
like you cannot lose a job or a game because
of that you cannot lose a game this year because
(13:19):
of a punting situation, that that would be a disaster
this year.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
To flip a field and you hit a shank twenty
feels like you're gonna lose a game or two.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Doesn't it. It feels like it right now today, doesn't it. Yeah,
Like you're putting from the fifteen and you got to
put it to the thirty.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
And you're kicking out of bounds with the forty eight
of year old.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yep, that's what it feels like. You gotta you gotta
get that ball inside the ten yard line on a
short punt and you're what biffing it through the end
zone like his best punt, like he kind of like
send a Howartz horwitzerwitz Howitzer Howitzer. But it was too
much like, all right, we're gonna lose our shizzle this
(14:02):
year with all the red flags about this guy if
they lose a game because of the punting, because it's.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
So obvious that this is not really good right now.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
I mean, as good as this defense is. If we
lose a game because we put them in a bad situation,
Oh what a shame that would be, dude.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
And to think we just had a guy and we
just went a little cheap.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
And I don't think the Broncos are cheap at all,
but we lost out on a punter for really, you
know what are we talking about?
Speaker 4 (14:32):
They they didn't go cheap, They went they gambled. They obviously
legitimately believe in the dude's talent.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
So they do.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
We'll see. Man.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
There are some gargantua and red flags though, aren't There are.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Gas found out home.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Let's get to that and let's football go. Coming up next,
and don't forget point counterpoint, the debate the Loan Tree
or the Burnham Yard Broncos. You won't want to miss it.
It's coming up. Wow, we were we were really getting
(15:11):
into that video, weren't we. Thank you Mountain High Appliance,
Thank you Brad, thank you everybody there. They're awesome. Mountain
High Appliance dot Com. In nine minutes, point counterpoints, Wellington
Webb versus a representative of Loan Tree. Stick around for that,
but let's football go, Dan Buds Quinstannerd, what's good, all.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Right, fellas? Yeah? Bronco.
Speaker 7 (15:32):
Former Broncos running back Adric Estimate has found a new home.
He has signed with the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
He lands on.
Speaker 7 (15:41):
Their practice squad, So Contrastimate signs to the Eagles practice squad.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
You know, it's funny because when you brought that out
where we go? I said, what if you went to
the Eagles? Yep, learn from the best.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Sure, I don't know what the terms were, but obviously
it was a mutual parting of the ways between the
Broncos and Audery Estimate.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
I agree, Yeah, time for a change of scenery.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
You know, where did he fall?
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Apart for that guy? Like, where did it the first.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
Game we fumbled? Yell that by Sean, it's true that
did happen. I don't know, Okay, I don't know. I
mean he was in the doghouse all year long, and
then we really do he's in the doghouse in the
playoffs when they deactivated him and they brought back was
(16:28):
it Tyler bdeye? But they got the I R Yeah,
and uh put him in on the active roster for
the playoff game.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
I'm trying to think of a draft pick that kind
of there were high expectations that went kind of sideways
on George Payton, like Audric Estimate was just.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
The fifth round.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Yeah, it's a fifth round thing. You're making a dirt
kind of comparison.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
I just think you you you have a thinner margin
of air to screw up. It is just a fifth rounder.
But I'll I'll tell you this, moving on from a
dude entirely in just his second year, even in the
fifth round, is a bit unusual.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
I mean, if if you told us, not unheard of
by any means. But before training camp, I don't know.
It became more obvious as time went on, but I
thought it audro guess May certainly had a shot to
redeem himself in training camp this year. I thought he
had a chance. So we wish him the best. I
do wonder. I am curious, boy, I really am curious.
(17:28):
Did he reject the Broncos into the Broncos not make
him even an off runner?
Speaker 4 (17:33):
I think it was completely mutual. I think the should
they released him. His agent was on the phone call
and everybody.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Else likes the Broncos didn't make him an offer because
they knew he was going to turn it down.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
I just don't think they liked him. Well. I mean,
in theory it can be I would have said no,
if you would offered me anyways, So who's the one
that departed first? I broke up with you. You didn't
break up with me. You know what? A minute she
can actually see the meeting and they say listen. I
think I think, listen, you still can play. You're good
(18:05):
running back, but but I think you need to look elsewhere.
I don't think it's going to be here.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Bet that was said, that'll be a good episode on
Hard Knocks. That show is any good anymore?
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Yeah, well they don't show that stuff anymore. I'm not.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
I'm behind.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
I'm down two episodes now. So what's the point.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
I'm not even seeing anything on Twitter or anything.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
I don't know. You know what, can I say something?
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Sean Sean Payton, Peyton Manning is crushing NFL films and
all the stuff because listen, Hard Knocks used to be
can't miss Yeah listen, I mean you know you couldn't
miss it. The stuff that that Peyton has put out
in the last three or four years, the different stuff
he's put out is ten times better. I mean the quarterback,
(18:50):
the two quarterbacks years and the receiver year ten times
better than the quarterback. Also though, to be honest, that's
fine kind of. It kind of feels like all the
same stuf. But it's been better than than than Hard Knocks.
It asks Yeah, and what was the other thing he
just produced? It did the w w E one the
w which was fantastic.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Yeah, that was good. But I don't know if I
want to watch another one of those. You know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
I watched another w w for sure.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
You would, Oh yeah, okay, that was pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Well, now that we know the w w E is
really a season, like a sporting event of season, you
you couldn't be one.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Well, that's that's what they did.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
They said, Okay, here's the middle of the season, SummerSlam,
WrestleMania is our super Bowl, and then we have all
these games in between.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Hey, the success of Payton May has had on producing
these shoes or executive producing these shows to really break shoot,
why why why keep doing that?
Speaker 2 (19:45):
It was funny with Hard Knocks. I had some time
last night. I was like, I do have a little
time to watch something. Rockies, Well, the Rockies. I can
tell you all about the Rockies. I'm pissed at the
Rockies for winning. I'll get to it. I know the
I know the whole thing is I started a band
of brothers.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Again, you've never seen that.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
I've seen it like six times.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Like it's like, I'm like, have I have I put
enough time between the last time I watched it and
this time, And it turns out I did because I
was like I remember it and don't remember it, like
you gotta separate it. But I really, seriously, David Swimmer
is sobl like the is one of one of the
better acting jobs.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
You will see in a first time I saw it
because he was still the Friends guy. He used to
watch that on all our bus rides in college.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Oh wow, did you know on the behind the scenes
with that they were doing real basic training the whole
crew And they brought him in eight days after they
had already been a crew, and they separated him from.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Them to him correct that.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
You know, he really did a good job because I
know he's ross from Friends and you look at him, You're.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
Like, well, the first time I watched it, I couldn't
get over the road.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
And there's like, you know, there's like Jimmy Fallon, Like
why did you put Jimmy Fallon in this thing? Like
I guess so right, But I I just that that
Bandon Brothers may be the greatest TV show of all time.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
It's definitely up there.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Yeah, all right, next story Dan, All right, guys.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
Let's hear from Patrick's or Tan he spoke yesterday. I'm
interested in this cut.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
What did he make the team? Did?
Speaker 3 (21:26):
He squeaked on three?
Speaker 2 (21:29):
It's a real comeback story.
Speaker 7 (21:31):
So Pat was asked, you know, what have you seen
from this Broncos offense now that you've gone up against
them so much throughout training camp and in practices.
Speaker 8 (21:39):
I just see a tremendous amount of communication and growth,
Like with Bo and Audo receivers, you know, I mean
throughout practice, they'd be giving each other checks and I'll
be trying to look to see what check you know,
Bo be giving receivers because but it's just all about
the chemistry they have with each other. I think it's
such a unique group that they're building. It's especially with
(22:01):
the young receiver Cord they have, and you know the
young backs that we have, and you know the O
line and you know, so I think that whole you know,
offensive group is going.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
To be special.
Speaker 7 (22:11):
So okay, So what you guys have seen throughout training
camp in the preseason on a scale of one to ten.
What's your confidence level that this offense will be able
to perform at a high level as the regular season
is right around the corner.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
I'm gonna be generous and give it a seven.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Aron seven sons a good.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
Rookie scores five point two.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Oh, I didn't know what you're doing points, I'll give
it a give it a six point seven.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Don't you ever watch a pizza review for Yeah, anyone
gives a square number, they go rookie.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
See the Fortnoy story.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
Yeah with the Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Yeah, but he's like, I think he's fibbing.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
A little bit. No, I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Okay, there's definitely a difference of opinion on this one.
Portnoy from Barstool, big Michigan guy and I don't know.
I don't keep tabs. I don't have any problems with Portanoy.
I've seen the piece. I like the confrontational pizza reviews
when they're screaming at him, we don't want you to review.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Those are great.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
And then there's the crazy woman who comes by and
you know she has a piece of like whenever it
goes sideways. But I think Portnoy's whole thing is like
he's coming on college game day and we're it's Ohio
State against Texas, right, that's that's uh? Is that what
starts off?
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Well, Texas at Ohio State. Yeah, Texically you listen right here.
On ninety two five on the.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Scott Today, team player Kevin but Portnoy said that he
was banned by Ohio State from entering the stadium, and
Ohio State says, no, we just we just said here's
the crew that's gonna be in there at halftime, and
he was never going to be part of that.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
I don't know whatever.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
I don't know either, but but it's like it seems
like like why would they care if he goes inside
the stadium, but for it, but for Portnoy, it definitely
glosses the whole.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
Like I mean, Portnoy came out with the counter and
he did like a five minute long video and he said,
I was absolutely not allowed.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
All right. I don't know, man, it feels to me.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
That the rivalry that's one of the great sports rivals
still left in the country, Well.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
It fits into Portnoy's you know, I'm the rebel and
I'm the this, and I'm the that and the whole thing, And.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
Wasn't he banned from NFL games for a long time.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
He was thrown out because he used to make fun
of Goodell, right, and he got the clown nos thing
going there, and he was tossed out of a super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Yeah it was a super Bowl. M hm.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
So that did happen because all I.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Did was give him like twelve million views.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
I guess, I guess the one way or the other.
This is the point of it we're talking about right now.
Like that's that's that's the point of all of it, all.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Right, next story Dan.
Speaker 7 (25:09):
Lastly, guys, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashid Rice will
serve a six game suspension to start the season for
violating the league's personal conduct policy. So let me ask you, guys, this,
do you think in the Andy Reid Patrick Mahomes era,
this is the most vulnerable the Chiefs have been. As
far as winning the AFC West, there was a was.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
It was it the Truman Dewey presidential election. Somebody said
the reports from my early demise were overstated.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Greatly exaggerated, greatly exaggerated. The reports of my death have
been greatly exaggerated.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
I think the reports of the chief's death has been
greatly exaggerated. That's what I've been saying the whole time.
I mean, look, could it be could they be in jeopardy? Well,
a lot of things have to go perfect for everybody else. Right,
that means Devin Bronco's offense. I gave it a seven
(26:10):
d Matt gave it a six point seven. Scott gave
it a five point something. You know, well, well, the
Denver Bronco's offense would have to be an eight or
nine for them to really be in jeopardy. Ok, everybody else,
justin Herbert, the Chargers, the Raiders, everybody else has got
to be really, really good in combination with the Chiefs
being bad. I mean, look, a down year for the
(26:33):
Chiefs could be twelve wins.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
The only reason I hesitate on this one is because
there's been so many years where people have said that
it's over for the Chiefs, right, I can't I can't
tell you, like what year there's been more of that,
because it's happened so often. Yeah, so you feel like
a fool to count them out because everybody's done that
a million times over the years. So on paper, on
(27:00):
the service, you'd feel like, okay, maybe this year, but
still got Andy Reid right, still got Patrick Mahomes, still
got him, Still got Chris Jones got him.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Although they don't have a ton of star talent on
that defense. They really don't.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Okay, if we can beat them up like that, that'd
be fun. All Right, it's time for point counterpoints. So,
I mean, it was shure Morning Show getting so political,
bringing on ex mayor of Denver, Wellington Webb, who wrote
an op ed in Westward advocating for the Denver Broncos
to stay in Denver, Like when did we turn into ka?
(27:39):
But okay, fine, so being you know, fair balance and
just being a doing the right thing broadcasting wise.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
We have a.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Representative from Loan Tree. Really that'll join us here in
a second. But just let me refresh everybody with what
some of the outrageous things that Wellington Webb had to
say on the Morning Show.
Speaker 9 (28:03):
We're not the South, We're Denver and uh and I
think that Denver's a sports capital for the for the
Rocky Mountains and we need to claim it, we need
to act like it. We need to put you know,
part of the part I don't like. We had a
lot more swag when when our administration always went around
the country saying we're the best and badest there is.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
In the country.
Speaker 9 (28:25):
I think, I think we need to really promote who
and what we are, and I think that the Broncos
are certainly a major part of that. But they need
to be downtown with everybody else. And when you have
a place, a destination, place for people to go, the
people will come.
Speaker 4 (28:42):
For them to go.
Speaker 9 (28:42):
They're not going to come. You can't split everything up.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Some outrageous words.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
So to represent the Loan Tree point of view, we
welcome boy. I I didn't even catch the name, Well,
what's what's what's your name?
Speaker 10 (29:00):
Elderstone?
Speaker 3 (29:02):
Your name is Sally Fielderstone.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Sally Sally.
Speaker 10 (29:05):
He has Linford Builderstone. Sally wouldn't work in the mayor's office.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
You worked for the mayor of Lone Tree's office. Well,
what's can I ask.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
What you do?
Speaker 10 (29:14):
We're so excited, so excited to Darwin to have the
loan Train Brocles come and be part of our family.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Okay, So why do you think the Brogos would be
better in Loane Tree than say Denver.
Speaker 10 (29:29):
Well, listen, is there an make better than a Sunday
afternoon shopping free after a beautiful win. Then a Capella's
new shotgun or or some camel or something like that.
It's running down the streets. And let's be honest to Darwin. Yes,
we've got great facilities in space where let's be honest.
(29:53):
Denver's already too crowded.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Uh, Denver's two grounded. And you want to point out
there's a Cabella's.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
That's a pretty good point.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
There is a nice Cabellas up there that people not
so you say it.
Speaker 10 (30:05):
We call it, we call it, and we'll call it
the Capello Zone. It'll be great sponsorship in the stadium,
the big beautiful stadium will be all in camouflage.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
You know, Sally, I've been a South Denver right for
a very long time. And uh, a lot of us
that moved to South Denver moved out here because we
enjoy the peace in quiet, you know. We we we
don't want the traffic. We like seeing the stars. I'm
a little bit concerned about that commute on RidgeGate. What
what's that gonna look like?
Speaker 10 (30:38):
Well, Terry, let me tell you you really only will
have to worry about it, won't you on Sundays? Maybe
really day maybe Monday, and of course the occasional Saturday.
But listen, our infrastructure. Wait, we're planning. Excuse me, I
have to I have to never mind sixteing lane road
(31:02):
from Parker took a pellas.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Wow, a sixteen lane road.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
That's lane road.
Speaker 10 (31:10):
Never done that before? You know, we're not gonna call
it t Rocks. We're gonna call it Raptorville.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
All right? Uh?
Speaker 2 (31:20):
And and what is why do you what is your
favorite thing about Laune Tree?
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Like, what do you think would be the why would
it be?
Speaker 10 (31:27):
Just listen. I could go with Terry, said Dorman, and
talk about the quiet, the wide open spaces, the clean air,
the wonderful few news of them on the mountains. I could,
I could break that all down for you. But let's
be honest, it's only one answer. It ain't Denver.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Do you have any final words for Vick Lombardi, who's
been such a strong advocate of the team staying in Denver.
Speaker 10 (31:55):
Well, he's welcome to.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Okay, all right, Sally Sally Fielders sown any any parting
words here that we should keep in mind in this
incredible counterpoint point debates.
Speaker 10 (32:08):
Well, listen, May Web was wonderful, been a wonderful job.
And Dever actually was a nice city back in the
fifties when he was the mayor. Two twenty five, this
is a bread new era. And talk about what Listen,
we're gonna have a basket Robins right near the stadium
(32:30):
as well.
Speaker 4 (32:32):
Favors.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
So you got your basket Robins and your amo A Caabella's.
Speaker 10 (32:35):
Yeah, exactly, and we're gonna name all the flavors after
the rig of Fame.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Oh wow, Well that's that's that's fast. That's that's really
really cool. Good And Tyler's six sixteen lanes.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
On Ridge Kata. Well, that's that's helpful.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
Some massive expansion, all right.
Speaker 10 (32:54):
Also, we're also thinking about a bullet train day. And listen,
here's another thing. Hoogeo, huge fat base. You need Colorado springs, Yes,
blow in Mexico City. We're gonna have a pull of
train city on the way out to the beautiful city
(33:16):
of Blow Tree.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Are are you? Are you gonna get Mexico to pay
for it?
Speaker 10 (33:24):
Then say trying to have them before?
Speaker 2 (33:26):
All right, Sally Fielderson, everybody working from the Mayor's Office
of Loan, thank you, Sally.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
That'd appreciate PhD. We tried.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Scott, did you catch Sally Fielderstone from the Mayor's office?
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Well, I did, Darvin. I thought she was outstanding. I
really had to go to the bathroom.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Yeah, no, shame you had to miss it. When when
you go there, you go there.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
I'm just excited about Ammo's and Basking Robbins coming to town,
as well as the stadium.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
I was thinking maybe we could get that one foot
locker maybe to open them a new store down there.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
I was open the maybe two or three game stops.
It would be the way.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
Stole it trade in Mexico City boys, the bullet the bull,
foot locker games talk. Maybe what was that electronics store? Though?
Speaker 3 (34:10):
We get throw in a Blockbuster or two, you know,
you know, put that in.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
There's that one electronics store there. Everybody used to go to.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Radio radio shack, radio shack there, you know.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
I mean, and you know what a roller rink. Oh,
skate city.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
That would be nice. I mean, you could do it
all because you got the land there and loan train exactly.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
Isn't there still a skate city out by you, Scott?
I believe there is, yes, yeah, I think there.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
Is an active one.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Yeah, yeah, they up bowls and it's like the old
school skate city.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
We had one in Aurorafield.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Yeah, that thing's been gone for twenty years.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Though, Oh is it really Yeah the white kids right
off the highway. It was off Mississippi five. Yes, that's
been gone forever.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
Okay. The roller rink was the big hookup place with
my when I was an iceman. Yeah, there's one right
here in Greenwood Village. When I was growing up, Friday
was football games and Saturday was the roller rink. Well
there you go, Yeah, big to do you.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Guys want to ask me about the Rockies last night?
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Just real quickly. I understand. Here's what I'm not asking
because obviously they won, but I might I want to
know why you're upset that they won?
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Because how do you beat a first place Astros team
who's battling for first place with one of their better pitchers,
with a guy named Tanner Gordon, who somehow with the Rockies,
believe it or not, is five and five, Like he
does not have a losing record as a starting pitcher. Like,
how how do you go into Houston after you played
(35:38):
like crap in Pittsburgh and not only do you win,
but you win easily, like warmer help me. Yeah, you
know what, man, And now they've got thirty games left,
which means they only have to go four and twenty
six to hit the magic number of forty two.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
So I don't have to do the walk. And this
is true.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
The Rockies have never ever, at any point in their
organization's history, had a record as bad as four and
twenty six. Ever, they did have they they were They
won four games in April this year with Bud Black,
but they were four and twenty three.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
I'm predicting a finish of twelve and eighteen.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
Sounds about right. That would be okay. So if they
do that, they win fifty games. Thank you, you're doing
that on purpose. Yeah, twelve and eighteen. Well, if they
do that, Warren Shaffer clearly would be back. No, clearly, no,
he probably will be back no matter what. Frankly, well,
you'll get your wish. It's really not my wish. They're
(36:37):
pissing me off by winning.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
You were, You're more wishy washy on on your Warren
Shaeffer takes than anything I've ever heard. Maybe one week
he's he's God's gift. Second week, I'm out. He's but
Black two point zero because they cured his third week
the rock He's have figured it out. Retain Warren Shaeffer
fourth week. I don't want Warren Shaeffer.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
They have no night to win that game last night.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Warren Shaeffer is no justin Fields. You're such a prisoner
other ago, the prisoner of the Bullman.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
I don't even know what to say.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
You're two and two against the Dodgers, you get killed
by Pittsburgh, you show no heart whatsoever, You take a
day off, and you not. You just didn't beat the Astros.
You dominated them from the jump.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
But haven't they in the last three weeks almost played
better against better competition. Didn't they play good against the Dodgers? Ah?
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Yeah, they played really good against the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
Yeah, you could mean so. Maybe right now it's a
young team that mentally is really getting up for the
good teams and really struggling for the average to below it.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
It's probably fair to say they're not a very There's
some talent, young talent, but they're not a mentally strong team.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
There probably is some justification with that.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
Which I think has been the Rockies m for a
lot of years, because listen, we used to always talk
about it, even when we were over Koa. You just
get ready for the June Swoon. They'd come out out
of training camp, he be hot, playing well, doing things good,
and the Jew would come and they'd go four and
twenty twenty three, you know, or something like that, and
you're like, well, there was the Jew, the June swoon,
(38:08):
and the July died. It's like the middle of the season.
They had no mental fortitude.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
But these games are not like meaningless to the Astros.
They're like a game ahead in first place in their division.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
That's why you.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Play the game, Okay, cliche.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
Man, That's why you play the game.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
They're gonna they're gonna win four more games. Of course,
you know they're good. And as soon as they win
that fourth game, you know, they become instantly uninteresting all
over again.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
Then they become just a bad football, bad baseball team
in the football.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Correct Because there's still like ten games behind the White
Sox for second to last, they have no hope of
catching them.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Which is why I said from the very beginning that
I was actively rooting for them to be the worst
team of all time, because maybe then you can't ignore it,
you know, what maybe then.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
You know what, it would have been a little bit
more interesting being the worst team of all time circling
the drain in September. But they're gonna crush that. They
really are pissing me off winning a little bit. They
can't make their minds up, So I don't know, I
don't know what to say. That's the last They.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Got Houston to two more yea, so maybe they get
beat but.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
It doesn't matter, like if you win one out of three.
That was the goal in the first place, and you
kind of already did it. And they you know, they
haven't lost more than eight in a row, and they
did that five times this year.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
They had lost four in a row.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Going into this, I thought, hey, make it interesting, lose
all three to Houston and then we got the Cups
here in town this weekend, and we'll see if they
can lose more than eight in a row. But no,
they go ahead and win. They pitched really well, they hit,
had clutch hitting.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
I've never heard of any any baseball fan upset that
their team played well.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Because because they're so they drive you in nuts because
they're so crazily inconsistent.
Speaker 4 (39:45):
But that kind of the Moniker of a young player, young.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Team, I guess, But how do you beat some of
the top teams in the league ever if you're that
because that's.
Speaker 4 (39:54):
A big game. I mean, listen, I know they play
seventeen games the NFL, but it's a seventeen week grind.
NBA and NHL Baseball. I mean, they're playing every day
every other day.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
You're getting to something then.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
And it's a grind. But young teams get up for
big games, young immature teams, right, because there's young teams
that are really talented. Good Oklahoma City was one of
the youngest teams in the league.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Leans, right, I was just gonna go there, So.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
Young immature team. Immature is a keyword, get up for
big games and just over here, let's have fun so
bad or social team?
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Bigger question is that the mark of a great team
when they can be professional enough to really win games
even though they don't see them all that compelling or
you could get bored or whatever. But great teams figure
out a way to win.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
Well. Listen. I know we pick on the Dodgers because
they spend a lot of money, and that's fair and
so on and so forth, but you know what they
do with all that money that they're paying. They're usually
pretty good to win, aren't they. And they're and they're
winning in July, and they're winning in August. They're winning.
I mean they they're putting out there, aren't they. All right?
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Anyways, Tyler's a nub question. Oh, because Tyler has some
breaking football now that I forget it. Oh you don't Browns,
Oh Browns, Browns, Yeah, yeah, we do, we do.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Cleveland Browns have signed another quarterback, Bailey Zappi is now
a member the Cleveland Browns. Now he was signed to
the practice squad, which you might be like, Okay, what's
the big deal, Well, it's still a fourth quarterback. Okay,
it's still a fourth quarterback.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
Sign another quarterback.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
I would just shigne Zappi and not just bringing back
to the practice. You might say, well, you need a
practice squad, QB. No, you don't. Not when you've got
three on the active roster. You don't. Now, didn't the
Broncos have four last year?
Speaker 3 (41:36):
The Broncos have had four.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
But I'm pretty sure we had a dude on the
practice squad last year, and I don't think we did, Tyler. No,
I don't think they did.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
Okay, they have had four on the roster. In fact,
they had four in the room with the whole COVID
thing and the bracelet stuff. They had four in the
room there and they got in. That was the four
they got in trouble.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
That's true.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
And you need all four. That's a little trivia.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
No can you name all four that got them suspended
basically for a game and the whole thing?
Speaker 4 (42:05):
Uh Blake Portles, Oh, man, who was it?
Speaker 2 (42:12):
There are two other guys in there?
Speaker 4 (42:15):
I think it was. There was like an Allen.
Speaker 2 (42:18):
You're right, you're right. Who is the Allen? So is
Brandon Allen? Blake Portals Drew Locke and I just said
it was it? Brett Rippin, Brett Rippin, Brett, I don't.
Speaker 4 (42:36):
Know, man, I mean the Browns are See here's the thing, like,
it's still if you want to go on the they're
trying to sabotage deal, which that's not me. I legitimately
don't believe they're trying to sabotage him. But but but
if you want to fight that argument, here's another argument
for you. All he's gonna do is take away reps
from Shador Sanders that he would be getting I mean,
(42:56):
you really have no need for the fourth quarterback. There's
just not that many in the regular season practice.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
It makes no sense.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
And what does it say to Chad that you brought
in Bailey ZAPPI why what's the point?
Speaker 4 (43:10):
I don't think it says anything about But.
Speaker 3 (43:13):
What is the point?
Speaker 4 (43:14):
Though?
Speaker 3 (43:14):
I am really confused what the point is?
Speaker 4 (43:17):
Well, Snoop Huntley signed with Baltimore so they couldn't get
him back.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Is that that's why they lost him? I mean, I
have no idea he signed with their practice squad. Huntley
must have been offered by and.
Speaker 4 (43:32):
He was really good with with the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
So he turned He must have turned them down.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
They Why wouldn't they have offered him a place on
their practice squad, you.
Speaker 4 (43:41):
Would think, I mean, if they offered a Bailey Zabi.
Speaker 3 (43:46):
Bailey Zaby a fourth quarterback?
Speaker 4 (43:51):
Why is it just Zapp? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
The Chad conspiracy people are gonna have AMMO now they are.
They're gonna have AMMO.
Speaker 4 (44:00):
Hey, Tyler, is it frape? No?
Speaker 2 (44:04):
Okay, we we were concerned about the E on the
end of.
Speaker 4 (44:07):
But in the in the is it frape frappe?
Speaker 3 (44:11):
I think it is frape no, it's frap. It is.
Speaker 4 (44:18):
Yeah, I got a frap s linguist behind you. I
didn't Starbucks in order of Frappe
