Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, friend, Henry Flowers here powerful Living Outreach Ministries. I
got to get in on this alright. There's some things
going on with Pastor Philip Mitchell. You know, he's got
this video going viral when he's talking about his church
they need to move and all this kind of stuff,
and he was really emotional and the pullpit and these
kinds of things, and I really had just a burden
on my heart after listening to him, and many of

(00:23):
you have been listening to him for a minute. I
actually like a lot of things that he teaches. Believe
in the brother, loved his brother. And one of the
things I love about him is that he enjoys his
uh call, as we all are called as preachers to
call people out.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
When they're on the foolishness. Don't believe me, just watch
listen ur, I don't care. That's him listen.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Uh huh Yeah, I see the uh of what.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Has happened in your militant search, especially in the black context.
Do not such that bat casters?

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah to suspected shift casters account. Yeah, okay, so let
me jump in right quick because this is what I
want to deal with, and make sure you push this
button and subscribe. You know all that stuff shared wherever
you find podcasts Henry Flowers Powerful Living just look me up.
I want to I want to jump into this because
this brother, I want to jump right in on what
he's talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Let me be wanted to call passes out in that foolishness.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Forget all the stuff he's got talking about what's going
on in his building.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
God will provide.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
God's thing done, God's way, will never let God's supply.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
So all of you at.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Twenty eight nineteen church, if y'all worried to do just
like he said, pray, If you're worried about.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Where you're gonna go in the buildings we're ending about that,
God will provide.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Let me talk about what he mentioned as far as
his sermon prep time, and I'm gonna tell you why
it's very important to me. He mentioned during this time
where he was talking about his preparation and why he
couldn't preach that day because this burden was heavy on
it about what's going on with the ministry and where
they're gonna move to next, and you got people in

(02:17):
the city trying to get him kicked out and all
this kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
You know, he talked.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
About this idea that he spends thirty hours preparing his
sermon and that he.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Didn't want to come to the church today and give.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Them junk quote unquote, gives you junk was his words,
junk garbage. And then he said that so he couldn't
preach that day because this thing that's going on with
the building is it's a burden on him that caused
him not to be able to preach the gospel. And

(02:54):
although he spends thirty hours a week preparing for his sermons. So,
Pastor Minchell, in the heart of doing what you've been
called to do, I'm gonna do the same thing and
call preaches out.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
I'm calling you out. Stop it. Stop that. Stop it
thirty hours, thirty hours.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
A week to prepare yourself for a Sunday sermon.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Stop that.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Now.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
See here's here.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
I got so many things that I got to say
on this. I'm gonna try to do it in a
short time. We need to stop on this emotional stuff, man,
We need to stop. Just there's just not many decisions
that's gonna be made that will end up being good
decisions that will be based on emotion. Not too many
emotional decisions are gonna be good ones. And here's the

(03:49):
other thing too. Not many emotional comments, sayings or things
expressed out.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Of emotions will be good things.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
That's why I enjoy who I am. I don't care
if I'm hoop and hollering and get people to push
the chairs over. Musicians don't come by me. I don't
care if you never say a man, I'll have a
deliver a conversational logic based approach to the scriptures and teaching.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
I don't get people caught up an emotion.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Man, you listen to discernon his brother's all up in
this emotion and talking about thirty hours preparing and he
couldn't prepare because he didn give you jump first of all. Listen,
here's my problem with it, brother pastor. Do you know
how many ministers up under you who are aspiring preachers
who are possibly following you and think very highly of you,

(04:37):
especially because he does have an emotional bent to his messages.
And man, you get people driving forward, Man who you
get the emotions going and people start pushing chairs over
and swinging on shandlers.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
And on a spine.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
If that's your style, is cool, But just understand you've
got to be careful about emotions, because emotions can cause
people to do things that they wouldn't normally do, and
emotions can cause people to say things that they wouldn't
normally say, and an emotion base bent on your message
delivering can cause people to be hurt in ways that
they normally wouldn't be hurt. If thirty hours a week

(05:11):
is what it takes you to prepare your message, and
go ahead, I love it. Do that, brother, that's you.
But in a while, I'm saying, is stop it? Bro?

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Stop it.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
You should have a five minute pocket sermon ready to
deliver it in five minutes, no matter how big the audience,
big or small. Preach the gospel, the Bible says, Preach
the gospel, be instant in season and hot of season.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Be you ready to answer anybody.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Who gives you a question about the hope of your
calling thirty hours?

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Come on, man, here's my only problem with it.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Bro right here, listen to me, y'all, to the young
ministers that are up under him and hearing him talk
about this thirty hours, how you think that just made
them feel When they spend thirty minutes on their message
prep they spent maybe three hours on their message prep
How do you think that made them feel? You know
what I made them feel? That made them.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Feel A WHOA?

Speaker 1 (06:08):
I am tremendously insufficient when I propose to get in
that poolpit and preach or teach. If I hadn't spent
thirty hours, thirty hours preparing for a thirty forty five minute.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
One hour sermon. Bro come on, man, it is not
that deep. Listen.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
If that's how you roll, then do that. But clarify
that to everybody, because listen, there's a whole bunch of
people who were inspired to do things and preach the
gospel and they came focused for three hours, let alone thirty,
and they're just as called. And I think we gotta
be really careful about the things that we say as

(06:49):
a pastor and from that poolpit.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
That's why you got to study the scriptures and learn
for yourself.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Who's called, who's not called? How do you know those
who called? And what's the gospel message? And man, listen,
the gospel message is right there. It's in there. It's simple.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
How in the world Jesus preached the most powerful sermon
on the world. I think all the emotions agreed.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
That the Sermon on the Mountain is the most powerful
sermon ever delivered. You know what, You can read the
Sermon on the Mountain in twenty four minutes.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Twenty four And do you think Jesus spent thirty hours
preparing for a twenty four minute message?

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Come on, man, and I know you come back might
be well, that's Jesus, He's the annointing. Excuse me, don't
go there with me, because the same Jesus that rose
from the dead, he says, I'm going, I'm sending.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Back the Spirit to be in you, and he shall
reveal all truth to you.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
So if the Holy Spirit is speaking, why are you
making it about you thirty hours? I am mad at
the thirty hours, but I'm just saying, bro, you got
to be you got to be cognitive and of people
who are listening to you, and add some kind of
clarifyer and say, hey, this is me I'm doing.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
The thirty hours. Come on, y'all stop that.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
And this is the kind of thing where many of
us as preachers get to the point where people start
lifting us up and they start doing that mind of
God and stuff and then thinking more highly of us
then when they ought to, and we start thinking more
highly of ourselves than we ought to. And then you
start to get church hurt, start manipulating people and causing
people to do things that they normally wouldn't because of

(08:33):
your undue influence in their life. Thirty hours, Stop it, man,
stop it. It does not take all that, not for everybody.
If it takes that for you and that's what you do,
then do that. But just understanding, the scriptures are already there,
So let me deal with the following part. What in
the world does it mean that you don't want to

(08:54):
deliver them junk thirty hours or else you gonna deliver
them junk?

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Help me find it? From Genesis to the Revelation, which
part of those words is junk? I'll wait nothing.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Oh okay, cause I'm not bad. I thought we were
supposed to preach the scriptures. And I don't care if
you read open the songs. Take open and read the songs.
Read one verse. You preaching the gospel.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
The Word of God is alive and Abso it's not
that simple. But I'm just saying, compared to thirty hours, like,
why would you even set the standard that like that
for people? And oh I fasted sevent days and ten
days and we did a forty day fast. All that
stuff is great, do fasting, but just understand not everybody
is at that level.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
And if you're gonna say things like that, add some
kind of qualifier to it.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Thirty hours now, mind you, in the spirit of calling
people out, now, mind you listen to this in the
spirit of calling people out. When I'm calling out pastor mission,
I'm doing this for everybody's benefit, and especially for the
people who might be following him, who are up and
coming preachers. I mean, I'm just saying, come on, bro,
it don't take thirty hours to prepare a message.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Now.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
If it take thirty hours, I'm just curious about all
in the message that you preach.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Let me ask you a question.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
In that thirty hours, is it God that spoke to
you with all this anointing that was upon you in
that thirty hours? Is that the same God that spoke
to you and told you to make that comment that
you made about swinging on the testicles of the prophets.
What portion of the thirty hours did God tell you

(10:37):
to say that from the pulpit.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Thirty hours, bro, thirty hours and you in the.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Poolpit talking about swinging on the testicles of prophets.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Come on, man, now, I don't have to clean his mouth.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
I might drop some profanity here or there, but you
will never hear that kind of foolishens from the pulpit.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
I might be out with one of the homeboys.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
I would on the t in his court and may
say something that somebody might find unsavory. Some things I'll
say in a men's group meeting that I will not
say from the pool pit. There are some things that
I say in an adults group that I won't say
in the average Sunday service because this children there right,
you're cognizant of what's being said based on who your
audience is. That's call being sensitive to the Holy Spirit

(11:20):
and letting God lead you. Was God leading you talking
about swinging from the testicles.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Of Prophets, and that's a quote you can find.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
It don't take long. All I'm saying is listen in
the spirit of calling people out.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Stop it.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Stop making ourselves more than what we actually are. If
it takes you thirty hours to prepare for a sermon,
God bless you, sir. But I'm just telling you I
listen for everybody else who's listening don't grab a hold
of a standard that God set for Pastor Mitchell and
pull put that on yourself. Jesus says, my yoke is

(11:59):
easy and my burden is light. Stop making the gospel
about you, keep it about Jesus. Henry Flowers, Powerful Living
Outreach Ministries.

I cannot tell you how many testimonies and how much
transformation has occurred as a result of these empowerment sessions.
You want to be here the church being the church,
people coming in with their stuff, working on it with me,

(13:47):
using biblical principles and getting real transformation in real time,
so that we ourselves can be empowered. Then we can
be able to go and empower others, my friend, and
that is what powerful living is. So you definitely want
to join us in the empowerment sessions in person, and
also you can join us live via zoom and the

seeing you there. Many of you have been asking how
you can give and support Powerful Living ministries.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
I have a few options for you.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
I often go and speak to our young people who
are just living in desperate times.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Not really sure if I would want.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
To be a young person living in these times with
these societal norms that are just banging banging at the
door of their moral houses, and they need help. So
the help that I deliver when I go and speak
to these young people are through powerful testimonial speeches, motivational speeches,
whatever you want to call it, but biblical principles and

(15:02):
same things I deliver in the empowerment sessions and in
the podcast is what I deliver when I speak to
colleges and high schools. Now, I often go and speak
about what I wrote in my book, which is titled
Bored to Death Five Steps to gear Up and be
about that life. This is a pulling together of personal stories,

(15:25):
things that I have lived through and.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
How I went from where I was.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Living on the streets of Detroit, and how I survived
the streets of Detroit and created a life that I love.
When I had all of the obstacles in my way,
I had the perfect recipe to become a statistic How
did I overcome?

Speaker 2 (15:48):
What did I do well?

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Those questions are answered in my book Bored to Death
and Five Easy Steps. I share these steps with young
people and I get transformation, and I see transformation. Their
lives are empowered on a daily basis. This is powerful
living in action when I go and.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Speak to these young people.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Now, how you can come alongside is a couple of
ways you can obviously give directly to this ministry. If
you want to reach out to us Powerful Living twenty
twenty two at.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Gmail dot com.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
You can reach out to us directly and just say, hey, Henry,
how can I support your ministry financially? Also, you can
text us or call, but likely a text would be
better at five one three, four zero, four seven seven
nine three. Leave us a message and just tell us

(16:41):
I'd like to be involved financially. How can I support
your ministry and we'll give back.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
To you there as well.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Also, you can contact us about purchasing copies of my
book so that when I go and speak to the
young people in high school. Sometimes I'll do middle schools,
but most of the time it's high a cottage and
those who are usually financially constrained and don't have the
opportunity to purchase my book. If you purchase my book,

(17:11):
every book that you purchase will be an opportunity for
me to put another one copy of my books in
the hands of our young people, and so they can
take home the message that I deliver in person, and
they can be empowered and study and see what I
did to create a life that I love. And therefore
they'll be able to see themselves doing it as well.

(17:34):
That's powerful living, and my friend, that is powerful giving,
and I hope.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
You will take us up on that opportunity.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
If you have feedback and you'd like to suggest a
shell topic, content ideas, if you have questions, if I
said something that you don't agree with, whatever it is,
