Love y'all zoomers over there. Never I will never make

to be with us as well. But think when we
get to five families, we'll go to our meeting and

(02:36):
we'll meet in person, and that's going to be great,
great fellowship. And until then, let's jump in today's content
dealing with anxiety. Coming through to Christmas season. Some of

(02:56):
us have more anxiety than others. Some of you might
have anxiety about you maybe probably spent too much, you
went way over that budget, and next year those interest
payments and those monthly payments and all those things. You
got to figure out on how to rescue yourself from

(03:17):
the merry Christmas that you created. Man, it's possibly created
an anxiety and you already. So we'll talk about that
today and give you some how to's on how to
deal with anxiety. Relationships, Man, nobody can create more anxiety
in your life than the people that you love, people

(03:40):
that's been with you on a journey, especially when people
when people get to the point where they know your
stuff and it's possible that sometimes maybe they get to
use your stuff against you whenever they feel like it,
whenever they want to jab you. Man. It creates anxiety.
It creates stress, pressure in your life mind. You start

(04:00):
to worry about things. Some people have anxiety on their job.
You get out there every day and you're driving towards
a job that you can't stand. Lord. That can create anxiety.
You got a coworker on your job who is just
a bully and just a bunch of nonsense every day

(04:23):
that you know is coming. It's not even like you
go there and there's a surprise nonsense this week. No,
this is the kind of nonsense that you know is
coming every day. Somebody consistently stupid, consistently on your nerve.
A boss is consistently sexist, consistently rude. Like, these kind

(04:44):
of things cause you stress. And really all you want
to do is sit over here and eat your beans.
You just want to be cool. You ain't bothering nobody,
And here it comes. There's a person you can think
about right now. Think about the name of somebody who
causes you stress, and you can feel it right now.

(05:05):
You can feel that stress, your chest getting all tight,
y'all clenched, jaw pushed forward. You just even the thought
of that person causes you stress, and the stress and
anxiety then has an effect on your body. You know,
stress and anxiety can cause things to happen in your body.

(05:26):
I know someone recently that I love dearly went to
the emergency room in a hurry ambulance and everything an
episode brought on by stress. According to the doctor's reports.
It's nothing to play with. And so the idea is,
how do we as believers, how do we take a

(05:47):
look at anxiety. Some is actual diagnosed anxiety disorder. And
let me just say clearly up front, that's something that
the church really needs to take a different look at.
You know, when it comes to taking care of your mentals.
I think a lot of times that whole subject is
not dealt with enough, and we need to do better

(06:07):
as the church. Anxiety disorder is a real thing. We
are fallen creation. The results of sin and death is
sickness and oppression. It's on us. It's a part of
our body. It was not how God created us, but

(06:28):
because of the fall of Adam and Eve, things have
happened to our bodies. And there are some people who
just like people who are prone to genetically, you have
a predisposition to abuse alcohol, you have a predisposition to
be addicted to drugs, a predisposition to do this kind

(06:50):
of sin, and this kind of thing is yours. You
may not be what you know, you may not be
doing what's ailing him or heard, but you got your
own thing. And I'm just saying some of these things
are genetic. It's in your body, it's in your mind.
It's a real thing. And you can pray and have
all the faith and all the kind of thing you

(07:11):
want to. And at some point it's good to seek
medical professionals because it's possible you got something going on
that needs to be treated as well as prayed about.
And so speaking to this idea of anxiety disorder, it's
a real thing and some people have it, and there's

(07:32):
medication that you can get. There's practices that you can
learn from professionals that can help you get through your
life with these ailments, these things that oppress us, whatever
you want to call it. Those things are real. And
so it's not a lack of faith to say I've

(07:56):
been diagnosed with anxiety disorder. And secondly, just the opposite. Listen,
Bob says, with all your getting, get knowledge and understanding.
How are you gonna have knowledge and understanding about your
body if you're not seeking professional help, he says, with
all you're getting, get knowledge and understanding, and so you
can understand what's going on and what's possible. And sometimes

(08:18):
your whole life and all the anxiety that you have,
all the trouble that you have right now, sometimes those
things can be alleviated just by a small prescription here
or there to be able to do something on a
daily basis that can change your whole life. And listen here,
it is change everybody's life around you. Don't you know

(08:44):
what's going on with you affects other people? Zoomers, what's
going on with you affects other people. Life is not
just about you. I mean, you know how many people
depend on me just in my household, and so an
if there's a if there's a way of being that
I have a level of anger, maybe that I'm displaying,

(09:05):
maybe you yelling, and this is whatever the behavior is,
it's affecting other people, and it may not be something
that you can just pray away. Do you love your family?
Of course you do. We say we love our families,

(09:27):
but just understand that love is a verb. And we
talked about last week about the life of a believer
is about a life that shows actions. And if you
love your family and you got something going on, especially
when people start bringing it to your attention, how about
go see somebody about it. We talk to you about

(09:48):
our partner NOMI National Alliance of Mental Illness. Just look
it up. They do great work in helping people grab
hold of this problem that you may have with anxiety disorder,
mental illness. All of these things are real things. You
could be helped. But you gotta go seek help and
stop that, or I'd be all right, stop that. Stop it,

(10:10):
especially men, men, men, We do that way too many times.
How you feeling, Oh, I'm blessed and highly favored of
the Lord. You got a tumor growing out the side
of your neck the size of grapefruit, and you was
not born with it. No, I just prayed too. I
just believe God. You're gonna believe God right into the grave,

(10:33):
and couns are gonna make your neck fall off right off,
when you could have had to treat it, and the
people in your life could have enjoyed your life much
longer had you gotten your behind out there instead of
a be all right, get on out there and get
it treated and get it looked at. Stop that, guys,

(10:54):
you're not more spiritual because you don't go and get
treatment because you trust God. God works through doctors, and
he works through faith and healing as well. There are
practical ways that we're going to dive into in a
scripture to address this issue of anxiety and is it

(11:19):
a sin? Is it not a sin? What do you
do with it? So really, let's address this situation really quickly.
The easy part I dive into it really quickly and
say this idea that anxiety or being worried is a sin. Nope,
you're wrong, cannot be a sin because really, really briefly,
if anxiety and worry you believe is a sin, then

(11:46):
what you're saying is Jesus was sinful because Jesus had anxiety.
And that's what we're going to today. Yeah, Mark chapter fourteen.
You were talking about Jesus knowing that the time of
his crucifixion was approaching. The Bible talks that he had

(12:08):
this great anxiety and it even caused a physical a
real diagnosed physical occurrence in the human body that's a
result of stress. The capillaries and the forehead can burst,
and what would normally be sweat is now blood. These

(12:31):
times of great stress and anxiety, this is what Jesus
was facing. And the moments before him being led off
to be crucified caused him great stress. Knowing that the
people family, family, the people who had been with him

(12:51):
for years, the people that he trusted the most, would
deny him time and just think you cased him great
anxiety to know that the person that he trusted the most,
one of his disciples, would betray him for thirty pieces

(13:17):
of silver and betray him with a kiss. Family man.
And so I really want you to grab a hold
this idea. And you've heard it before, maybe in your church,
And I'm sorry if you have heard this in your
church before. This idea that you're a person who worries

(13:37):
and you're under great stress, and this idea that stress
and worry equal sin, that is not accurate. You can't
support that in scripture because I'm just showing you hear
in the scriptures where Jesus was stressed and worried and anxious,
and Jesus had no sin. And if we disagree on that,
then we got a whole nother discussion that we need

(13:58):
to have about your theology. It is very important the
sinlessness of Jesus Christ. Yes, one hundred percent God and
one hundred percent man in one yes, and he was sinless.

(14:19):
That is a what we call a tenet of the
faith t ne et. That's a foundation and the theology
the doctrine of Jesus Christ is a is a foundation structure.
That is, if you take away one of the pillars,
it falls down all of it. The whole structure falls
down if you take away one of the pillars. And

(14:41):
one of the pillars of the doctrine of Jesus Christ
is the sinlessness of Jesus Christ. But here he is
under great stress and worry. If you have Mark chapter fourteen,
he gives us a real example. This is when a
what would Jesus do? Moment really shows up in a
how to what Jesus do? Moment when it concerns stress

(15:02):
and anxiety? How to deal with anxiety and stress? Let's
start in Mark chapter fourteen. Won't read the whole thing
for the sake of time. Let's start in verse twenty seven,
and you will want to do your own research and
to see what leads up to this part. And you
can go back and read the beginning of this, but
we'll start in verse twenty seven. On the way Jesus

(15:31):
was going to his place where he prayed often, and
he took the disciples with him. He says, on the
way to that place, Jesus told them, all of you
will desert me. Now think about that. That'll cause you
some stress. All your rit it dies, all your team,
think about it, all of them deserting you. Yep, he says,

(15:56):
all of you will desert me. For the scripture, say God,
I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.
But after I am raised from the dead, I will
go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there.
Peter said to him, even if everyone else deserts you,

(16:17):
I never will not me. Lord. Nope, Jesus replied, I
tell you the truth, Peter, this very night, before the
rooster crows twice, you deny it three times that you
even know me. No, Peter declared emphatically, even if I

(16:42):
have to die with you, I will never deny you.
And all the others vowed the same and they went
to the They went to the olive grove. They went
to the grove called gethsemone. When Jesus said, sit here

(17:05):
while I go and pray. He took Peter, James and
John with him, and he became deeply troubled and distressed.
Deeply troubled and distressed. Now listen, here is here's the scenario.

(17:27):
All of his rider dies. He knows they're going to
leave him. He knows when they strike the shepherd. The
scriptures say this, the sheep will be scattered. It's written
in the Old Testament, the Torah. This is what they
were reading. It's the scriptures. They didn't have the New Testament.

(17:47):
This is the New Testament. We got this stuff. But
they said, listen to scripture. Say this, I'm the Messiah.
You believe the Messiah. You believe I'm the Messiah. You
believe in the Messiah, and you believe I'm the Messiah,
But you don't actually believe that I'm to be fulfilling
the scriptures. It's in there. It says they'll strike the
shepherd and the sheep will scattered. And only y'all sitting
here proclaiming boldly that you'll never leave me. That'll cause

(18:12):
you some stress. People break promises. Man, there's a whole
bunch of people. Man say they ride or die. But
if some stuff get hot, ooh, you will find out
who your friends are. He says, all of you will scatter.

(18:38):
Verse thirty three. He took Peter and James John with
him and he became deeply troubled and distressed. He told them,
my soul is crushed with grief to the point of death.
Stay here and keep watch with me. Now he's along
with Peter, James, and John and he's saying to them, hey, listen,
this is distressing me. I just told you, guys that

(19:00):
you're going to deny me, and I told you that
the shepherd will be struck and all of the sheep
will scatter. That's what's going to happen. This is causing
me great stress and trouble to the point of death.
He's saying, I feel like I'm about to die with

(19:21):
this weight on my shoulders. This is what Jesus saying.
Now you want to talk about how to. Here's one
of the greatest how tos when it comes to dealing
with stress and anxiety. It's really simple. Tell somebody, tell somebody, don't.

(19:48):
You don't know this that the enemy plays upon your
pride when something that you're going through is causing you
pain and anxiety and you keep it to yourself. Oh,
the enemy loves that. The enemy loves that. It's pride.

(20:08):
It's not spiritual, it's pride. You don't want anybody to
know that you're in this way. You don't want to
nobody know you ain't got no money for dinner tonight. Boy.
I can remember sitting there in church, man, and I
just it was just a time in my life where
I was out of a job and stuff and had
a little car. Finally that was a move up. But

(20:31):
I remember times man, where I know I'm sitting in
church and I didn't know how I was gonna make
it home. I had enough gas to get to church.
But man, when I tell you that thing was behind
the eat, that thing was behind e, you lean on
to the side you want to man, it ain't got
plenty of gas, And then it ain't plenty of gas,

(20:52):
and that when the light come on, I can promise
you that I was delivered. When I told somebody, one
of the brothers after church greeted me. He said, hey, man,

(21:13):
how you doing. I had to swallow my pride when
I said, hey, man, I'm doing really good, but you know,
I could really use some gas money to make sure
I get home. See, we don't we don't really really
want to be vulnerable to people. Maybe family, but this

(21:39):
brother wasn't family. This brother greeted me. Now on my car,
all my family getting into the car. I got five kids,
they loading up. Man ain't getting in there, and kids
don't know that that bad boy might not even start.
There's a gas station right up the street. I knew
I could probably make it to the gas change, but
now I wasn't sure I was gonna make it further

(21:59):
than the gas station, and I was sure that I
wasn't gonna make it home. And it was like during
the servant. Man, it's like, I'm just distracted. I'm distrasting
the stuff. You get it, right, you get it. This
stuff is heavy on your mind. Open your mouth and
say something. Don't be prideful, because as soon as I
opened up my mouth and said something, he's like, oh really, man,

(22:25):
my deliverance came because I opened up my mouth and
I got some gas money. His brother was glad to give.
And it was a blessing to his life to be
there for me in a time of need. Y'all be
to hear what I'm saying. The devil is lying to
you and trying to keep you to be one of
the ones who don't allow the church to be the church.

(22:47):
And so you're going through times of adversity and anxiety.
It's caused you to feel the point you to the
point where you feel like you're gonna die. Bro tell
somebody you know, suicidal ideation is real in the body
of Christ. I'm telling you, waitma, don't play with me.

(23:11):
Don't play with me. Don't play with me. This one
right here had my name on it. This one right here,
make sure you see that that's a forty caliber round.
It had my name on it with my own hand.
I hope y'all see that. I put it here for
a reason, as a memorial for myself. This was supposed

(23:33):
to be me going through divorce. Wife. Tell y'all, don't
love you no more. I hope you never experience that.
I hope you never know how that feels. Twenty three
years of marriage, I don't love you anymore. Yeah, I

(23:53):
was ready to take my own life. That's right, born again,
spirit filled tongue, talking fire, baptized all at stuff you
talking about, had the gun in my head. It's real.
Tell somebody, I was able to talk to one of
my mentors, one of the brothers. Man just sat with

(24:15):
him and just work through this thing together. He knew
what I was going through. I'd been talking to him
the whole time. Brother, work me through it. And Jesus
is sitting here with his disciples, and he's saying, y'all,
this is how I'm feeling. I'm crushed to the point
of death. This thing is I feel like my life

(24:38):
is leaving me just because of the worry that I
have because I know what they about to do to me.
And look at the dilemma. He's saying. Not only do
I know what they about to do to me, but
y'all do understand that I can call to my Father
and call thousands of angels to deliver me. I can
say a word, I'm about to be crushed by my

(25:01):
creation crucifixion. Man, y'all do know the crucifixion was not
the heaviest burden. The crucifixion was not the most destructive
part of what he did for us. Bible says up
until the point where he was crucified. Once he was

(25:23):
on the cross, and says his visage, his appearance was
so marred that you could not tell he was human.
That's how bad they beat him. He said, this is
my creation, and I can deliver myself. As he's mocking me,
telling me, deliver yourself. If you're the son of God,

(25:44):
I can do it. Crushing him because he knows all
of this is about to happen, but yet he's got
the wherewithal because he wants us to look back on
descriptions and say, hey, listen, this is a how to
think about that time when you are distressed beyond belief
and you feel like you're going to lose your life
and want to take your own life. It's real. Tell somebody,

(26:11):
Tell somebody. They will not despise you for going through
something because they know we all go through something and
we all need each other. That's the body of Christ.
It's the enemy who is lying to you and telling
you don't tell nobody. He only coming to do three things, killed, steal,

(26:35):
and destroy, And he knows the better chance of him
killing you, stealing from you, or destroying you comes when
you don't tell folks what you're going through. That way
he gets to torment you all by himself as you
and him. First way to deal with anxiety is tell somebody,

(27:01):
he says, my soul is crushed Verse thirty four. He
told them, my soul is crushed with grief to the
point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.
When he wanted a little further and fell to the ground,
he prayed that if it were possible, the awful hour
awaiting him might pass. Ah Bah, Father, he cried out,

(27:24):
everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of
suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to
be done, not mine. And there's number two. The second.
How to pray. You talk to somebody and let him

(27:48):
know what you're going through. And then, my brother, my sister,
you got to talk to God. Tell God exactly what's happening.
You don't have to use no big words. You you
don't have to use King James English when you're talking

(28:09):
to God, tell God go away. The garden of Gsemite
was off. It was an olive grove. Not everybody could
go there. That's why he took the disciples, and he
took Peter James and John with him into the olive groves.
The garden, we say, garden, garden of gafsmity. Here's an
olive grove. You go in there, and this is a
time that's different, in the place that's different, separate from

(28:30):
everything else. Sometimes you gotta get away. Sometimes you actually
need to get you behind in the closet and shut
the door. In the closet just dark. I'm telling you,
I've been there in the closet. Close the door is dark,
can't see nothing but a light. I say, Lord, I

(28:50):
need your help to get through this. Tell him how
you're feeling. Lord. I feel like I'm better off dead
than alive. This is how I'm feeling. Lord, Lord, I
don't feel like I'm powerful right now. Powerful living is

(29:15):
the furthest thing from me right now. That is how
I feel. And sometimes you get in there and you
get in the closet and you just pray and you
just say what's true, and you may not even get
an answer, you may not even feel like any relief

(29:40):
is possible. But somehow you just stay there and you
pray and you tell God what's going on, and he
delivers you. My friend, he delivers you somehow, some way,

(30:05):
maybe through somebody, maybe through some medication, maybe through you
actually going through the experience that you're praying about and
asking him to take away from you. Maybe he wants

(30:26):
you to go through it. There's a song that says,
sometimes he calms the storm when the winds and waves
go wild. Yes, sometimes he calms the storm, and other
times he calms his child. Just because you pray about it,

(30:53):
don't mean you're gonna take you out of it. And
sometimes you pray for the strength to overcome your trials,
and then maybe you can pray for the strength to
endure your trials. And whichever prayer you pray, brother, sister,
you got to pray. And there's power in telling somebody.

(31:14):
Because the people that you tell on your team, if
they really ride or die when you go into your closet,
guess what's happening too. They going in their closet for you. Oh,
you better believe it. The people that you tell what
you're going through, they would not have known that you
was going through that if you didn't tell them, and
you had just given them the opportunity to pray, they

(31:35):
wouldn't have that opportunity to pray if you didn't share
what you was going through. They wouldn't have the opportunity
to be a blessing to somebody if you didn't tell
them that you need some gas. They wouldn't have the
opportunity to come by and sit with you if you
didn't tell them. I kind of got some suicidal thoughts
going on, man, and I just I feel like I

(31:57):
need to tell somebody. You right, that's a good feeling.
Trust that feeling and move on it. Tell somebody that
you trust, tell them what you're going through, and get
in that closet, get in that garden and pray and

(32:18):
tell God about it because He cares for you. My brothers,
my sisters. That's how we deal with anxiety. We tell
somebody and we pray and we watch God show up.

(32:40):

of personal stories, things that I have lived through and

people in high school, sometimes I'll do middle schools, but
most of the time it's high school and college and

every book that you purchase will be an opportunity for
me to put another one copy of my books in

take home the message that I deliver in person, and
they can be empowered and study and see what I
did to create a life that I love, and therefore
they'll be able to see themselves doing it as well.
That's powerful living, and my friend, that is powerful giving.
