Speaker 1 (00:06):
What's up, everybody? Welcome back to pro Wrestling after hours
on Michael Carlisle, joined as always by Micah Franco. Micah,
I was shaking, man.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I would say that, say the turkeys with the holiday
upon us, but it's probably more the dessert makers now
that the ae W heavyweight champion has a sweet tooth
in a nation of violence behind him.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
The correct answer was brock Lessener is shaking as his
big ass is falling to the ground on the entrance ramp.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
No, no, no, that's DMX slipping. I'm following, but it got's
to get up. We're gonna get back on my feet
and give him a cowboy hat to this dude who.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Had the worst Monday Night raw, brock Lessener or Minie
Sina who got his ass beat by by dom.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Dom Pana who fucked up his shoulder shoulder and to
quit quit against the prices are so low?
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah, well yeah, certainly not a good money night raw
for Penta. Yeah, with the shoulder injury, but the little
person impersonating Sena, things did not go well for him.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
He got to perform in front of the biggest crowd.
It takes about all weekend for them to draw that
number with the micro wrestling, you gotta shout it out
for the man. You gotta love that triple H just
goes right back into his own bag of tricks. I'm
pretty sure he and Sean Michaels have pulled out the
(01:32):
wee performers before themselves.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Well, I mean it's easy to do. You just reach
into your hat and yank one out. I'm sorry, we
won't make little people jokes. We will make some more
brock Lessner jokes, though, because as bad of a night
as it was for Minie Sena, mock Sena, whatever you
want to call him, big bad brock Lesner coming out
(01:56):
getting ready to do his foot stomp, and as he
lifts that foot up and gets ready to it down,
the other leg goes out from under him and he
busts his arse live on Netflix.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
And is no longer that intimidating to me. He just
did all the fear and half of the aura just
just went away. I know he's a beast incarnet, but
he also battles gravity.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
It was a bad moment. That's always my worst fear,
because look, he didn't do anything he doesn't normally do,
whether it was new boots, whether it was an overly
slick floor, maybe there was a slick spot there. Who knows,
but boom leg goes out from under him, Pop goes
(02:43):
the big arse and then you have to quickly cut
away as he hops back up.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah, yeah, I yeah it happened. That was hilarious. Still
still hideous that they use him on TV, considering what
he's associated with currently.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Be that as it may. We'll talk more Brock and
Survivor Series, which happens this weekend. Some things we want
to look back. A very interesting week in wrestling. We
had AW presenting Full Gear this past Saturday. New AW
World Champion crowned. Lots of things I didn't necessarily expect
(03:26):
that happened on that card. Micah. We've also got the
field is officially announced for the Continental Classic. We'll dive
into that as well. There's a lot to get into.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
AEW never fails to over deliver for pay per views
the best value in premium live events.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
I don't think that's even debatable. I have to agree
with you on that. Even if you don't like the show,
the weekly shows, I get it. What we all like,
what we like, you can't argue that they don't over deliver,
but almost to the point where it's too much. But
you'd rather have that than than under delivering. And then
(04:16):
you're wondering why you continue to show out the money
every couple of months for the pay per view.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Right, they make it worth it. They definitely the value.
They give the excitement, and when you think you know
what's gonna happen, they can even surprise you. And I
got to appreciate that in pro wrestling, because, as we said,
you're doing the show. I don't want to be smarter
(04:40):
smart as the booker. I don't want to be smarter
than the booker. I want you to be more creative
in cheeky, and I want your vision to have surprised me.
And there are times in that pay per view, this
one specifically yep for full Gear where it turned my gears.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Definitely, let's start out on the pre show and we'll
blow through this part at least anyway pretty quickly. You
had the two hundred thousand dollars multi person tag match.
The one team I think that we gave no chance
at all to winning, Juice Robinson and the Healthy Gun
Brother earned the two hundred thousand dollars. Austin thank you.
(05:19):
I could earn if it's Colton or Austin.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Two hundred k in the bank, A story that was
really still designed around can the acclaim get their ish together?
Beautiful win by Juice Robinson, who I got to appreciate
the way he pinned his hair back. He kind of
had like a volume mullet going.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
I kind of liked it. Yeah, Boom and Doom and Rpgvice.
I don't have a problem with this because you're putting
it on the pre show. You're not taking time out
of my fifty dollars pay per view for it. Otherwise
I'd have to say on this it was what it was.
(06:02):
I think it's a safe bet. When you're bringing in
big Boom AJ, you're gonna put him in a position
to look good. They did that here he and QT
Marshall beat Trimperetta and Rocky Romero.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Doom and Boom beat Roe pongee bye, and at this
point Trent and Rocky you're just happy to take whatever
scraps don Kallus throws their way. It's not like this
meant anything. It's not like there were titles on the line,
a title shot, even money. At this point I was
fine with how it played out, for what it was,
(06:36):
where it was against who it was against.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Maybe a foreshadowing of the night to come for the
don Kallis family.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
You can't let them all. You can't let them all.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I don't think they won any of them. They won one. Yeah,
I mean it was not a good night one. It
was not a good knight for the family. Eddie, Kingston
and Hook made incredibly as they should have of the
work horsemen.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
The workhorsemen at least got in a couple offensive moves
where I like them for ring of honor that they
could be something. But they're not a dynamite quality attack team.
Their work is. But just the look, the charisma, the
mic work, isn't there? Two fun guys. I was fine
with the match quick one. Nice that Kingston was wearing
(07:26):
a homicide T shirts, just shouting out to a colleague
of his who I believe is retiring if hasn't already.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Yep. You also had the CML World Trios Championship involving
the don Kallis family as well.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Oh, this was a beautiful story from the early attack
where you isolate and Mame missed it go a bit
so it doesn't really hurt you that it's two on
three and it's not like Ocata is just in the back,
just waiting, driving up in the expensive sports car that
fits the Okada moniker. I did like the pre planning.
(08:07):
Don Callous knew his man was running late. We'll have
his title and his robe at the back door. If
I'm not like he carries that stuff on him. Okada
shows up, I mean, what a diligent worker and in
for the family. Takeushna is like upset did Takesha.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Nazi the video.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Okada showed up in his little shorts, his knee pads
and his wrestling shoes. Do you know how awkward that
had to be getting off the plane already dressling in
the bathroom like that. Okada's having travel issues and he
showed up like a g ready to go.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
I ain't buying any of that crap, Micah. A real
man would have had his robe as well, and his belts.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
That's why you have a Don Kallas to take care
of the little things.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Rick Flair used to wear his robe on planes. Also
used to get him in trouble, but that's another story
for another time. I'm just saying second pay per view
in a row. If I'm not mistaken, where the final
match on the tailgate brawl bleeds over into the pay
per view, I guess it's not a big deal one
way or the other. Is probably a little awkward for
(09:10):
those who PLoP money down for the pay per view
but don't watch the pre show, They're like, what the
hell is going on here? But I mean, I'm fine
with it. I suppose it doesn't really affect me. I
guess too much one way or the other. But second
show in a row, they've done that.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
I agree with you, a little awkward. I don't need
to see the third show in a row. Maybe make
it a little more special, not something obvious that we're
expecting for it to bleed over, to have that overrun.
I did like the way the match played out, Yeah,
the conflict between Okada Takeshna. I did think it was
a little overdone when Okada did start attacking Ta Keshna
(09:46):
and we just never kind of addressed that. I guess
it was meant to you already down, so you didn't
see that was me hitting you. But the fact that
it comes back around later in the night, the implosion
with these two, the don Collis family, I like the
encompassing story that is being told with these two. And
(10:09):
let's give Hetchay zero some credit. He's not just a
Wizard of Luca. He is also able to try to
be a negotiator. You see him being the arbitrator, trying
to be the man of reason, and I did not
think that from someone who looks like a psychopath.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
That gets us into the pay per view proper, which
we started off with Darby, Allen and Pack pleasantly surprised
to see Pac get the win here. I think he
needed a win. You can do whatever to Darby and
it's not going to hurt him. But I was assuming
Darby was gonna win here. But if nothing else, I
guess this means the feud between Darby and the Death
(10:52):
Riders ain't going anywhere.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
The feud isn't going anywhere. And three big moments Darby
getting slammed to the floor from that over ahead body
press by Pack, Darby with that insane missile dropkick at
Pack while he was sitting in the chair, and Pack
catching Darby from the coffin drop and doing the German souplex.
There was no way when we started this match that
(11:15):
I was like, oh, this is gonna be a highlight
of the card for me. But holy shit, if they
did not deliver with extra violence in a way that
it kind of impressed me, Like, I know they can
both work, and I thought this was just gonna be
another match on the card, and I was pleasantly surprised.
And then the I wondered, are we really going to
(11:35):
go through without the Death Riders? You said the wheeler,
youter interaction, Pat getting the cheeky win. This rivalry isn't
going anywhere, And I thought it went in the right
direction cuz I think there are benefits to building up
the other two more powerful looking members of the Death
Riders in Claudio and Pack.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yep, yep. Then we got I still don't know while
we got this match, but whatever Timeless Love Bombs versus
Sisters of Sin, versus Babes of Wrath versus Baine and Shaffir. Basically,
we needed to get a lot of women on the show,
so let's do an eight women tag in the end,
(12:16):
Storm and Mina sure Akwa get to win. Look, didn't
hate the match at all. It was actually fairly entertaining.
I just I'm still unsure of what the purpose of it.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Was, so you have a fatal four way between these
four tag teams and now apparently the babes of Wrath
or wait, Timeless Love Bombs excuse me, Timeless Love Bombs
now get to choose the stipulation for their semi final match,
because we need stipulation matches in a tournament. Would have
made more sense, and it was my thought process originally
(12:47):
that they were just boycotting the semifinals and we were
just gonna turn this to a finals, fatal four way finals,
let's crown tag champions right here, right now. That was
my assumption when they announced this match, and I think
that would have been the better way to go on a.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Pay per view. Yeah, again, it was a fine match.
I had no problems with the match itself. I don't
know that we needed it, but we got it, and
again aw loves to overdeliver, so why the heck not?
Then we get the World Tag Team title match, Brodido
versus FTR and LO and behold on this one, we
(13:27):
were correct on FTR gets the win, they become the
new Tag Team Champions, and I'd be willing to bet
you anything Dynamite this week, maybe Dynamite next week. We
get the return of Adam Copland and Christian Cage.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
More than likely that one seems pretty well laid out.
There's not going to be too many surprises. If there
was any complaint I had, and this is such a
nineteen eighties baby im complaint if you would have just
called it a tornado tag match from the get go,
I mean there's just like no attempt from the ref
control anything. No one FTR used to be about the rules.
(14:06):
That was just from their stickler, heel stitches, and no
one went outside the ring for about five six minutes
towards the end of the match, So that would just
be my biggest complaint. But I liked how Brody King
with the deaf alley driver had a big moment. I
didn't even bring him up, but Stokely halfaway with the
(14:26):
belly kind of homage. Possibly the entrance of the night
for me, When do we make Stokely look cool? And
then he goes out and he just lets pour Brody
dive into the guardrail just no takes that bump and
dies for the rest of the match. Didn't get that
from Stokely, But there was so much good. I was
(14:48):
really excited with how this match played out and there
was enough false falls from Brodido that it kept you
on your toes that it felt like they were going
to retain. And it feels like this is the end
of Brodido, But it's almost a shame because it really
felt like their tandem offense was reaching a point where
(15:09):
it was coming together more.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
I am sad that this is probably the end for
all intents and purposes of Brodido. I think Bandido is
gonna be just fine. I think they're big things in
his future. I do worry a little bit about Brody King.
Does he get lost in the shuffle now? I certainly
hope not, because I think he's a fantastic talent and
(15:33):
I really like him a lot. But yeah, probably not
gonna see Brodido as a regular tag team anymore.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
The cry was super into the match, the reversal on
the Power in Glory. There were so many good moves
and just good sequences between these two tag teams. The
crowd was super into. It's everyone I think did their
job to a high caliber. Was the match where they said,
can we go out there in top what we had
(16:01):
seen from Darby and pack.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Up? Next we got the Casino Gauntlet match to crown
a new ae W national champion. I had no problems
with the match at all, other than why did we
have Mark Davis? Why do we have Matt Menard, Like
just guys you knew they weren't winning. Anybody else I
(16:28):
could have bought into Cassidy Wheeler, Yuda, Kevin Knight, Roddy Strong,
Mike Bailey, Claudio Lashly and Benjamin obviously Ricochet, but you
knew Daddy Magic and Mark Davis weren't winning. Either two
less people or two people that you could convince us
(16:49):
could have won.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
I found that there was usefulness in the Daddy Magic
Daniel Garcia interaction because that had to come to a
head at a point. None of us care for it, really,
but at least from a storyline perspective, you got where
they were coming from. And yeah, Mark Davis gonna make
a lot of sense. But after those two spike pile drivers,
I didn't give a shit. He was functional enough to
(17:12):
be in the match because he spiked two guys on
their heads. I liked the cheekiness of Goa getting involved
and helping Ricochet, Lashly and Benjamin looked like they were
physical beasts at points so I thought the match did
a lot of good. Not to mention really for me, Speedball,
(17:36):
Claudio's uppercut. There were some guys that had moments in
this match that really stuck out. And then Ricochet was
one of those couple guys that I had hoped last
week they would pin this title on. So I'm more
than excited about the outcome.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
No, No, most definitely on that, and I think you
kind of predicted it last week. Ricochet getting the win.
I love that a it puts the belt on a
known star. It also reassures things aren't going anywhere between
(18:11):
the Hurt Syndicate and Ricochet and company, so you've got
that as well. Yeah, I didn't hate the match. I
just I don't know that you needed those two that
I mentioned earlier in it. But it was an entertaining match.
It it was fine for what it was.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Tony Kahn loves to use as many people as he
can on pay per views. We just kind of already
know that. It's like it's like when you stick a
good fork in a turkey, you can't get enough of it.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Speaking of forks and turkeys, No Holds Barred, John Moxley
and Kyle O'Reilly maybe more forks than Turkey's Micah, but
you threw it out there, so I was going to
play off of it. I thought this was a hell
of a match. I also love that Tony Kahan has
gotten behind Kyle O'Reilly here. This was a really good match.
(19:05):
I guess we're taking the slow build to Moxley and
the death writers parting ways, but this seems to be
another step in that direction.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Marina Shaffir looked downright sad at the end of the match.
I mean, we're talking about ruthless forking. What the fork
was going on. Kyle O'Reilly, he has an aura about him.
He's a worker and the promo is a little weird.
He's got awkward kind of I don't know, last guy
(19:35):
picked on the basketball court, nerdy kind of energy going on.
But he can work. He can work his ass off.
He can translate his energy to the crowd through his
emotion the adversity that he faces in the match. That's
the best way that he's telling the story. Both guys
(19:57):
are bloody. The use of the chain with the guillotine
between the two of them, I thought was so superb.
And there's a lot of times being an MMA journalist
see MMA media member, I cannot stand some of the
submission transitions we see that are more MMA based in
pro wrestling, and this one felt very authentic compared to
(20:19):
a lot of what we get.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah it and look, it was a hard hitting match,
which is to be expected out of a Moxley match.
You also had O'Reilly getting a hold of the fork
and most definitely bloodied up Moxley with that. Again, if
the forks aren't your thing, I get it. I honestly
I'd like to see a little less forking in my wrestling,
(20:43):
but it is what it is. At least it kind
of sort of made sense, I guess. But this was
a very good match. Unfortunately for O'Reilly the air quotes
arm injury suffered in this match. We'll keep him out
of the Continental Classic, but a huge win for Kylo Riley.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
You mean the same arm injury that wasn't a factor
when he needed to lock in a submission to get
the finish. Yeah, that same arm injury. That's why I'll
tell you. When Moxley destroyed the arm, I was sure
that as o'diley was playing up that he was one armed,
I was like, well, I'm guessing Moxley wins here, but
(21:30):
I guess that's just too even more show the chips
in the arm where you had a wounded, scolded opponent
and you weren't able to finish the job. I don't
know if you saw it, but as sad As Marina
looked about Moxley losing, there was disappointment in disdain from
Claudio and Pack.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
Well, they know what they got to do. I just
can't wait for the reluctant tag team of Roddy Strong
and John Moxley being the two guys who don't really
want to be in the conglomeration but they don't have
a choice. Basically the Bowens and Castor of the conglomeration,
if you will, because I'm assuming that's where we're headed
(22:13):
once they do turn on Moxley. But I guess we'll see.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
No, no, no, I'll top you on that. Okay, the
Conglomeration takes out Moxley. I mean, excuse me, the Death
Writers take out Moxley. I'm not sure how this works
with Claudio or Pack now as the leader or the
co leaders of this. I don't know if there is
another leader. I don't know if we're actually gonna get
the Danielson thing. We have pitched it too many times.
(22:39):
You can keep shaking your head. No one sees us
on video, but we've pitched it about eight hundred fucking times.
So I'm pitching something else because maybe something else happens,
because we've hoped this is gonna happen all along. Either way,
it's going to be really awkward. When Moxley descends from
the sky in a scorpion T shirt and a transco
(23:01):
with weird face paint on, still his balldouse had and
hands Darby a baseball bat. John Moxley becomes the new Sting.
He is going to be a Darby sidekick. They will
go after what destroys him. I think that's where we're leading,
not a conglomeration, but a weird pseudo Sting Darby relationship
(23:23):
with Moxley Darby, and you.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Could very well be right on that. I will say this,
if there's not a new outside leader of the Death
Riders winning, if they turn on Moxley, then the Death
Riders will be nothing more than glorified versions of the
Frat House, the Dark Order, the Workhorseman, Dalton Castle and
(23:50):
the two doofy guys from the eighties Outrunners. Thank you
the Outrunners. I ken't want him to call him the
Turbo Express, but.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
No truth and Turbo Man.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Yeah, I know, I know. Obviously they would be positioned
a little better on the card than that, but that's
basically what they become. You take away the strongest person
from the group and then expect the group to be
better for it. That ain't how it works. There has
to be someone, and if it's not Danielson, it has
to be someone, and it has to be a big name. Hell,
(24:25):
maybe it's fucking Eddie Kingston. Maybe Eddie Kingston comes out
and attacks Moxley. The rest of the Death Writers come
out seemingly to save him, and no, instead they join in.
I'm not saying that's better, but you can at least
buy into it.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Eddie and Claudio burying the hatchet after all these years
of public beef, and Eddie's the leader. Now that Claudio
is following in the Death Writers, we feel inevitably it's
gonna be Danielson. Hey maybe Seane McMahon, after being in
the like eighth row at Monday Night, Raw not acknowledged
(25:02):
on camera, finally signs the damn contract and brings his
ass on over to work in pro wrestling again.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
They legit had him on the fucking fourth row man.
He's a damn McMahon, come on WWE. But yeah, fourth row.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yeah, there were so many heads ahead of.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Him, I know, right. It was crazy, no respect at
all that got us to the T and T Championship.
Kyle Fletcher, Mark Briscoe, no disqualification. I'm a little surprised
that they had Kyle Fletcher drop the belt here. That
being said, I wasn't necessarily looking forward to Brisco being
(25:40):
forced to join the Don Kallis family, although you could
have had some fun with that for a few weeks.
I think Brisco definitely deserved this. His work has been phenomenal.
I think this probably puts Fletcher in a strong spot
going into the Continental Classic. We'll talk about that more
a bit, but uh, Brisco gets to win. He is
(26:03):
your new TNT champion.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
The use of the stairs with the brainbuster, with the souplex,
absolutely disgusting. The blood was pouring like crazy. Also from
Briscoe again, the tax the screwdriver coming into play with
a really theatric element against it. Brisco survived, so much damage,
(26:27):
so much heart kicking out constantly, he took the tax
I think even probably a few more times when he
slammed Kyle than what Kyle ended up taking. Yeah, quite
the story, Quite the adversity. You wondered where the callous
family was. You love that that comes into play.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
You had screwdrivers, You had brisco bleeding so much that
it was hard to tell if Fletcher was bleeding or
if that was all Briscoe's blood on this. If you
like hardcore matches, if you like screwdrivers in your matches,
if you like this look, I thought they told a
good story here as well. I don't have a lot
of complaints about this match at all. Good for Mark
(27:09):
brisco your new T and T champion.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Congratulations to him, and shout out to Orange Cassidy for
being a great friend. He knew when Briscoe won he
couldn't just have Kyle's title belt. He needed a special one.
We're going Camo Baby.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
One million dollar Prize, Jurassic Express and Kiddy Omega versus
The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander. This match did not
make sense to me. I mean it made sense. I
just thought they rushed a whole lot of things here. Uh.
The Bucks and Alexander get the win, they get a
million dollars. It was the postmatch stuff that just didn't
(27:50):
do it for me.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
I thought it was a fun match. I mean, you
get the uh, a lot of classical spot. I really
liked the Jack jungle Jack her karana after we normally
see the Bucks with the power bomb. There were a
couple abbreviations to normal sequences that we see, but for
a lot of the most part, guys got in their
(28:15):
normal stuff. I thought that Jurassic Express and Josh Alexander
kind of stood out for me more in the match
because we're so used to the Bucks and Omega kind
of getting in their stuff. Then, at least during the match,
before we got to the postmatch stuff, the other guys
stood out a little bit more to me, and you
(28:35):
could see the reluctance, the reluctancy in the Bucks, the
need for money, the confliction in the story that was
being played out, and at least for the postmatch stuff.
A couple weeks ago, when we started the War Games
lead up, there was a moment where Logan Paul was
(28:56):
having the same conflict of morals. Do I go back,
Do I know, the crowd did not buy what he
was doing here. At least it felt like on the
pay per view we all got what was happening. And
the aw audience wants the elite. They want the Bucks
and Omega to be in unison.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
There's too many flaws here in this storytelling. Look, I'm
fine that eventually you were gonna get the Bucks and
Omega back together. I think little rushed here, and all
of a sudden we go from weeks and weeks of
the Bucks being disrespected at every turn, nobody takes them
seriously backstage, the ring announcers makes fun of them, their
(29:38):
their entrances and all, and now all of a sudden,
everybody loves them again, and they're gonna get the full
Bucks entrance now. And I don't know, it also felt
like as quickly and we didn't get there, but it
felt like Jack Perry was going to turn before the
Bucks could turn. Now, what I hope happens here is
(30:02):
you get the elite back together, and you're sliding Jurassic
Express in with them to let them blamm off that
a bit further the rehabilitation of Jack Perry and really
solidify Lucasaurus as as a player in a e W.
You know, I don't want to put the cart before
the horse. Here, we'll see how everything goes. But honestly,
(30:25):
I was thinking Jack Perry was going to turn on
them before the Bucks could make up their minds and
decide to to to help out and then pull up
Omega and give him a hug.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
You just look at Jack Perry and you don't like
him with the black pants on.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
No, well, it's not that I don't like it. He
just looks like he's gonna turn. You know, he just
gives off and maybe look maybe maybe if he ain't
in a loincloth, that's just the way he looks. But
maybe it's by design. I don't know, but I've ever
since they've come back, it's just like Jack Perry's turned
in on somebody. This Jurassic Express thing ain't gonna last.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Now that he's a grizzled woodsman and a knife maker,
he's been hardened by the world. He used to just
swing around on vines, hang out with birds, eat fruit.
There was a jungle that he was Jurassic in, and
it was almost like a jungle to the jungle. But
then once he had to take a couple of laps
(31:26):
on a stinky tour bus and become doctor Kavorkian to
unearth is Frankensteinsaurus. It hardens a man, and now he
doesn't trust so easy he forgives, but he doesn't trust.
And that knife, it's a reminder he always has a
knife because he's had a knife through him. And he
(31:46):
wears that scoal because he cannot trust. It just doesn't
go with the bringing out a beach ball. I understand
what you're saying, but I just don't think he knows
what to do with himself anymore. I think he was
very committed to escapegoating.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Oh CRIMEA River Women's World Championship match Chris Statlander defending
against Mercedes Monet. Mercedes is going to go down in
history as having forty seven thousand belts, but not the
one she truly wants. Statlander gets said, look, this was
(32:21):
a great match. I honestly think they made the right
decision here. Further solidify Chris Statlander keep her momentum going.
But the story of Mercedes, Yeah, it's great. She goes
all these independent shows and wins belts and shows up
with more belts on AWTV. She still can't get the
one she really wants. How'd you know?
Speaker 2 (32:40):
I was crying you a river, I stepped on some
real class earlier.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
I look at you, poor Mercedes Micah. She just can't
get the one belt she wants. No, look, you got
eleven hundred and fifty thousand other belts, but Statlander gets
to win here. Good match, Good match.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
I love the entrance Statlander's entrance, the rocket ship coming in.
I was captivated by it. I thought it was fun,
a little bit different, a little bit of energy. Mercedes
always brings it. I like the character that she's developed
in ae W. You get a little more offense, more physicality,
(33:24):
and I thought she was just kind of a whipping
doll in WWE, where you saw her get beat up
and kind of pull out wins all the time. I
think that they've established her as this Cruella de Ville.
She can be fierce while still being this smaller character.
I thought they told a really good story, and it
(33:45):
almost feels apropos because she's Ultimate Monet and Ultimo Dragon's
biggest claim to fame on WCW was a cruiserweight title,
not a world title, or was it the United States title?
Speaker 1 (33:58):
No, it was cruiser weight. Yep, yep, yep, Nope, you're
right out. I just don't know what you're doing with her.
I mean, I guess she can go around continuing to
collect belts and maybe we put her in a prolonged
feud for the TBS title, which might not be a
bad thing, by the way, but.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Yeah, I think you continue to build that main belt
success of Chris Statlander. I think that Bonet dominates the
TBS title. We eventually have an upstart face take the
belt from Mercedes, and somewhere down the line, I think
she does get the a e W Women's World Championship,
but I think it's gonna be a down the hill,
(34:43):
a down the road climb where she's probably lost most
of the titles by that point.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Yeah. And by the way, for Statlander, she in the
last few months she's beaten Tony Storm twice, she's beaten
Mercedes Monet. Obviously, Tony Khan thinks very highly of Chris Statlander,
and it would certainly seem her push is going to
continue for a while. I would agree. I would agree.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
I think all of that makes a lot of sense
and fits in great I'm almost thinking Tackla is going
to be next for Chris Statlander.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
I could see that. I could see that certainly Storm
like I'm one hundred percent events Storm and Mina Schera
Kaala are winning the women's tag titles. That's probably going
to be her focus for a while. Elevate some new
women into the championship picture. You can always go back
to Tony Storm whenever you want. You can also might
(35:45):
take a little minor story telling, but you can also
get Mercedes right back into that picture whenever you want
as well. So have them preoccupied with some other things
and let Statlander and some other female right through the occasion.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Might actually be time that we elevate some more of
the women from Ring of Honor. We have a great
depth of talent in the women's division, but if you're
going to have some of them focusing on the tag
team division, Storm, Shirakawa, maybe even Sin with the with
Heart and sky Blue, I think that you could use
(36:24):
a little more infusion from the c MMLL and the
stardom exchanges that you have and see some of these
women take a deeper focus into the singles division so
that we do get some of these new stars. It'll
be interesting to see how Anaja and ty Mellow play
into the women's tag division because I could almost see
them turning doing something become more interesting, and that leaves
(36:48):
Megan Bain and possibly Marina Shaffir opportunities to become single
entities because I don't think they're meant to be a
tag team for long.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
That gets us to the main event, the Men's World Championship.
Inside the Steel Cage Hangman Adam Page versus Samoa Joe.
I don't hate it, but I did not see Joe
winning the belt here. Now the storytelling is gonna get
really interesting, But as far as the match itself, it
(37:18):
was a story of yeah, it's in the cage. Hangman
thinks he's one upped Samoa Joe in the ops, but
it seemed to play into the ops's hands that there
was just too many tricks up their sleeves, if you will,
for the Ops and Hangman Page not able to overcome.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
That couple tricks. Joe the wiser, the smarter, he was
on top of things. He was playing the long game.
I thought that this match was really interesting. It gave
me and I almost wonder if you would do it?
Do you have a slobber knocker rating for this one
(37:56):
because it felt like an old school, traditional kind of
age match, hard hitting for the very first five, six,
seven minutes.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
I would need more information on the slabery Knocker scale,
but two more to be able to accurately put a
slobber Knocker rating on the match. I will say it
was a fun match. It was a hard hitting match.
It was a bloody match for sure. Uh the big
story I guess was Hook Did he turn his back
(38:28):
on Eddie Kingston? Is Eddie Kingston gonna be a part
of this? But Hook comes in, hits hang Man with
the belt, Joe gets to win. Hook aligned with the
ops and then things got more interesting after that.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
Joe goes full Rick Flair. For me, it was an
eight point three on the Slaberknocker rating. I think you
have points on the slaber Knocker. I'm gonna go in
eight point three. I like the use of the cowboy
boot coming into play. I felt like Hobbs breaking the chain.
It felt real and authentic for probably as staged as
it could be. That felt like, Wow, look at this
(39:08):
man's massive display of strength, even though his ability to
get through the ropes with the title bell that is questionable.
Just assuming that Shabata and Eddie Kingston battle to the
back and we never saw Eddie Kingston again. I could
only assume they locked him in a broom closet. I
don't know what the hell happens to him because he
(39:29):
was just gone. So we wait and see if he
does confront Hook. Like, hey, bro, I thought we had
something going here.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
Yeah, that'll be a one thing here.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
But they at least had Hook with Hangman and Eddie
enough that the turn was a surprise.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
It was a surprise for sure. The ops dojo members
is dumb, Sorry but it is. But it did serve
a purpose because Swerve Strickland when he comes out with
friends Nana needed to lay out somebody. So if you
can't get your hands on Joe, you may as well
take out the dojo members.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
New intro, new music, twenty pounds of Muscle, a new
yoked Swerve. Can you remember this guy used to be
a flyweight in WWE. That was some physicality that he
now has that he can put in with effort. I
like him destroying again that dojo. It made him look
(40:28):
fierce one more time. Hangman gets the big buck shot
at the end. Not to mention the buck shot through
the cage door with as many Whoopsie Daisy book shots
as we've seen. That might have been the best buckshot
that Hangman has ever landed. I like the implications moving forward.
Are we getting a triple threat right away? It's Swerve
(40:50):
right in the in the new obstacle in Joe's path,
the guy that took the title from him the first time.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Ooh, I like it. I like it. Also, if you
string this out long enough, and I have full confidence
they will, you're probably looking at an ops feud versus Hangman,
Swerve and a returning will Osprey.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
That's a possibility. Think about at the end of the night.
Just what we have before you bring up will Ospi Hangman.
That was a well served title reign. I think he's
more over than he's ever been in the company, and
I think that he has a bigger fanbusy than he's
ever had. Swerve came back looks like a million bucks.
Mark Briscoe has hit a title of legitimacy where I
(41:41):
can almost see we're worried about Brody. Brody could be
slotted in to a Mark Briscoe. He willins, but he
loses the big one kind of inclemental building stage for
Brody Bandido looks like a million bucks. Kyle O'Reilly has
hit a new high point with the fans. Darby is
over whether he wins or loses. The Elite is back together.
(42:04):
The Face cabinet feels restocked.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
It does. And yeah, look you just said it, Kyle O'Reilly.
Obviously they've got big plans for him. My thing with Hangman,
I agree with everything you said to me. That's all
the more reason not to take the belt off of it.
I'm interested to see where this story goes, because my
assumption is the original plan was for him to hold
(42:30):
the belt and take it to all In at Wimbley,
and maybe he gets it back before then. Maybe we
go in a bit different direction now. But yet I
think Hangman's second title reign went much better than his first,
and he is better for it even coming off of
this loss. Like you said, Swerve is back. How does
(42:51):
hook slot in to the ops now? And you know,
certainly Joe is a million bucks and completely believable is
the champ you brought up? The Elite being back together?
Bad night for the Kallus family. A lot is changed
for aew coming out.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Of this pay per view, a lot changes and it's
a great runway to get right to the Continental Classic,
where my eyes kind of help but be drawn to it.
You right away at Claudio Castigli and John Moxley on
the same side of the bracket. Okada and Fletcher are
on the same side of the bracket. We have three
(43:32):
callous family members in the Continental Classic. Something has to
come to a head with Takeshna, Okada Fletcher. There is
no proto Okada, there is no Protoshita. They don't love
the pro to, and he is out for his own no.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Now, in the Blue League, you've got John Moxley, Claudio Castanoli, Takeshka,
Roddy Strong, Mascara, Dorada, and Orange Cassidy. In the Gold League,
Catta Speedball, Make Bailey, Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, Pack and
Darby Allen.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
You said Orange Cassidy, Yes, you said Roder Strong. Yes,
you said Kyle Fletcher. But or I mean Kyle O'Reilly
but he's injured, right.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
I did not say Keylo Rilly.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Oh okay, I thought Kyl O'Reilly was supposed to be
in it at one point he was, but he is injured.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
Who replaced him. Actually, I don't nobody because he was
out before they announced the field. Oh okay, I.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Was like, wow, is did he just get to conglomerate
over his invitation? Is that how we get Roddy Strong
or possibly maybe Orange Cassidy in there. I think there
was a a conglomeration of how this came together. But
maybe it feels like the inevitable final that we want.
(44:54):
Does the Kyle's family come to a head here finally?
Or is that too gunther of of doing this tournament?
Because frick me On the other side.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
I'm assuming your final is Okada in Takeshka, which is fine.
So are you using this to further build the dissension
and the death Riders? Does that come to a head
in the middle of all this? I don't know, but
it's an interesting setup with the two leagues, and it
(45:26):
would certainly seem like this is set up for Okada
and Takeshka to to be your finals.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
Yes, how about I go two steps further on you? Okay,
it's Kyle Fletcher Takeshna in the finals, and Kyle Fletcher
is gonna seize control of the don Collis family here.
Speaker 1 (45:52):
What happens to Okada.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
If you're doing that, Okada is gonna have to find
his own way. Maybe him and Takeshna at actually bury
the Hatchet have to work together instead of we thought
they were gonna go solo. I feel like I'm a
huge Ocada fan. I feel like Takashna almost is. He
could become the next Ocata if we remember how great
(46:14):
Okada was from Japan. I wonder if they end up
working together or am I putting together too many sting
Darby scenarios with Darby being together with Moxley and now
Takeshna and Okada. Am I doing too much Batman and
Robin from my own good?
Speaker 1 (46:30):
Maybe this will be interesting because all right, Darby just
loses on the pay per view. You're not gonna have
him get through the Gold League and make it to
the finals, which I don't think they are, So that's interesting.
He and Pack are on the same side of that bracket.
So in the Gold League, so there's that. Over in
(46:53):
the Blue League, you do have two conglomerators, and Roddy
Strong and Orange Cassidy, but obviously the big there is
Moxley and Claudio, the two death Riders, both a part
of the Blue League, and yeah, I don't know. It's
interesting for sure, but I'm assuming Ocata taketchka. How do
(47:16):
we play this out? Because if you get a new
Continental Classic winner, that means you don't have a unified
champion anymore. It goes back to the Continental Champion and
the International Champion. Are we headed towards that? Do we
get an end still? And we keep this at least
for another year? These belts unified.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
I think we're gonna split the belts. More champions the merrier,
no more unified champion.
Speaker 1 (47:43):
We split the belts. I think you're probably right, but
it'll be interesting for sure. Speaking of interesting, Micah, This Saturday,
WWE has their next premium live event. It is Survivor Series.
It is at Petco Park in San Diego, an outdoor
event in November. Now it's San Diego. Whether it should
(48:06):
be fine, but Survivor Series war Games This Saturday. You've
got CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, the USOS and Roman Reigns
versus the Vision, which is the Bronze and Logan, Paul
Drew McIntyre and Slippery brock lessener a't your main event.
(48:26):
You've got your Women's War Games, Rhea Ripley, Youedo Sky
Likexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, AJ Lee versus Naya Jack Slash
Legend the Kabuki Warriors at Becky Lynch. You've also got
the Icy title John Cena Dominique my Stereo. You've got
Women's world title on the line, Stephanie of A Cure
versus Nikki Bella. Where you want to start on Survivor series?
(48:50):
You want to start with that Women's World title match
and work our way up.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
Sure, let's let's get to it. That one was Yeah,
I was surprised to see announced.
Speaker 1 (49:01):
I can only assume they'll have a good match and
Nikki Bella will do her job and try to make
Stephanie Vakira look really good, and she probably will, and
the Cure retains. That would be my assumption.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
I would say, so a nice, simple match, simple for
a simple story that that that I don't know she
attacked her. They were friends, No one believed they were
really friends.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
Let's get this over with. Yep, you're probably right on that.
I do think there's a lot more intrigue with the
Icy title match. John Cena defending against Dominic Mysterio. I
can only assume Dominic's regaining the belt here. Maybe I'm
wrong on that, Maybe you won't see that going into
his final match on Saturday Night's main event as the
(49:49):
Icy Champion. Although I don't know that that makes a
lot of sense, nor does it make a lot of
sense to have Sena loses next to last match. So
we'll see. But something tells me in front of the
hometown crowd in San Diego, Dominic Mysterio is regaining the
Icy title.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
I would agree with you. Cheating, plundering, judgment, dating. Maybe
I'm not even sure. Could there be a return of
a certain side piece, Maybe that would make this more entertaining.
But uh, you remember when John Cena won the title.
Remember that victory, because it's the last one he's getting
in pro wrestling.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
How about and I don't think this happens, but I'll
throw it out there to play Devil's advocate. We've talked
about at some point they're going to turn Dominic Mysterio.
They just have to. How about you turn him here
in front of his hometown crowd, where look, he gets
big cheers. Wherever he's at, he's gonna get no bigger
cheers than here. They have a great match. Maybe there's
(50:51):
some cheating, maybe there isn't, but in the end he
beats Sena and Sena raises his hand, and that's how
you turn Dominic Mysterio. I'm just throwing it out there. Sure,
well whatever, I don't give a shit. I hear you know,
(51:11):
because because.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
He is an undespirsed this, he is undisputedly one of
the future biggest draws n WWE dom Mystereo. I still
don't think his outfit fits him. I still don't give
a crap about his matches. They're okay, they're fine. He's
a growing talent. I'm just not there with the audience.
(51:36):
I can understand how the audience is pushing him, how
WWE is booking him. I just can't get to dom
Mysterio will win a straight up honest match against John
Cena one two three, kid me. He's far short of
his dad. Okay, fine, And I just don't also know
(51:56):
how that plays into they have him as a rudo
in Triple AA. I think Vikingo did just turn heel there,
so maybe that would coincide with a face turn from
Doma Stereo, But it just doesn't do anything for me
with I've thought this week. Wow, Judgment today has much
(52:17):
less screen time than they have in recent months.
Speaker 1 (52:20):
Can I let you in on a little secret, Micah
was a triple A means absolutely nothing in the grand
scheme of things as it relates to what they do
ultimately decide to do or not do with Dominic mysterio. Look,
I'm with you. I don't think they're turning him here, honestly. Look,
(52:40):
the fans want to cheer him. They want to cheer him.
I think he's better off as a heel. I think
naturally he's kind of that swarmy not like badass brock
Lesner heel, but more the well hell, like his real
dad Eddie Guerrero, Lie cheat Steel. I'll do whatever it takes.
I don't give a shit. I just want to win.
I don't know, Nolla, you had no problems going back
(53:02):
and forth with Eddie like that, so you could certainly
do that with dom if you wanted to. But I
kind of like this dom. I think better that. I
think you take away some of what makes him special
when you turn him into a face, because at that
point he can't do some of the things he does now,
and I think that neuters him a bit.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Unless we have a major shock with who's replacing Seamus
in the John Cena tournament. There's nothing that's dissuaded me
from thinking it's Gunther, and I don't think you need
to put an icy title on him. So once again,
Domastereo retains here. He lies, he cheats, he steals, he
gets it done.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
Noo. I'm with you on that. It's truly it's the
only thing that makes sense. But again, what we think
makes sense isn't always what WWE winds up doing, so
we will have to wait and see. But I would
be shocked if John Cena walks out of Survivor Series
still the Intercontinental Champion. Your Women's World Wargame match, Micah
(54:09):
we ran it down earlier, Ripley, Itto, Sky Bliss, Flair
and aj Lee against Naya Jacks, Lash Legend, Kabooki Warriors
and Becky Lynch. I'm gonna go out on a limb team.
Naya Warriors, Lynch, last Legend lose and lash Legend is
the one that takes the pinfall or submission.
Speaker 2 (54:34):
Sure, that's fine. I feel like they need to win
more so the heel fraction does, because again Lash Legend,
who is she? I don't care about Naya Jacks. The
loss does nothing because I don't care about any of
these people. I feel like it's a lot more intriguing
if there's Edosky Ria Ripley implosion, because again I still
(54:58):
can't get over their best friend. But the only thing
Rihea doesn't want is Itto's success. Remember you had the
singles title. That wasn't cool. So I don't know what
any of this matters. Like the Faces win, the tag
champs are dominant, and what Edo and Rihea go back
to battling each other for a singles title. I'm not
(55:21):
sure what there's to be gained from any of the
five people in this match. Besides, hey, wwe really likes
to match AJ versus Becky and multi people matches.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
Yeah, look, I actually agree with you. I think it
makes more sense for the Hill team to win. I
just don't think it happens. And what other reason would
lash Legend have to be in this match other that
than take the loss. But some dissension between Edosky and
Rhea Ripley one turning on the other. Hell, maybe Charlotte
(55:54):
Flair finally turns on Alexa Bliss. I don't know, but
I think there's more story to be told with something
like that happening on that side, which leads to Naya
and Legend and the Kabuki Warriors and Becky Lynch winning.
I just don't think that's the way we're going.
Speaker 2 (56:11):
I could agree with you, but three out of the
four matches on this car, really it just benefits the
Heels to win and it makes more sense. But I
don't feel like we're gonna do that. But much like
with Blooding Guts, can we have two Face factions win?
Or does assuring the women Faces a victory mean that
(56:37):
the not so dangerous alliance of Paul Hayman beats the
Bloodline this time.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
The not so dangerous alliance, Dude, that is one dangerous alliance.
Now the danger might be Brocklessener making it down the
ramp without busting his ass.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
But yeah, sorry, yeah, you almost have to have the
Face team win there.
Speaker 2 (57:06):
But it's more fun if they lose, because we need
more Roman Cody CM Punk dissension. Roman wants a belt. Possibly, no,
he freaking really doesn't. He doesn't want to even be
on this show. He just wants to show up and
you know, hit a couple of Superman punches and get
his load of money for having walked down the ramp
and saying acknowledge me. So I think it's more fun
(57:29):
if they lose. Heck, Jimmy sick or Jay finally has
enough of Roman's shadow and Jimmy, I don't know. Bloodline
descent is what we're all about. We need more bloodline descent,
and I don't think the blood line wins here. What
(57:51):
I would like to see here will never happen.
Speaker 1 (57:54):
I'd like to see both USO's turn against their team
enjoin out with Paul Hayman. I don't believe that's going
to happen, and hell, maybe in the grand scheme of things,
it shouldn't happen, but that's what i'd like to see.
I don't see a scenario otherwise, though, where Punk Cody,
the USOS in Roman don't win.
Speaker 2 (58:14):
They're the Avengers on paper, they should win. You have
three of the biggest stars in the company come together
for this. Brock Lesnar can't even walk down the ramp anymore.
He's so old and decrepit he can't even keep his
freaking balance. We really don't believe in Braun or Braun
yet at this point, and Logan. Paul will have some
kind of influencer podcast something to do here in a
(58:38):
couple days. So yeah, no, the other team should win,
but it's more fun, like I said, and I think
we get more out of it if they lose, because
isn't there some point where we're supposed to feel that
Paul Haman's vision matters and bron and Braun are tough.
I mean, wen't excuse me, I already know the WWE recipe.
(59:01):
They'll just nicky bell as somebody attack somebody three minutes
later and we're like, oh, they deserve a title shot.
They're so dangerous and scary, but it just feels like
they need this win.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
To me, I agree, but it also feels like, much
like I said with lash Legend in the women's World
War Games match, Drew McIntyre is in.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
This match to lose, and he is the exact one
that should pin Cody Rhodes win the match. They can
call Cody the weak link, and then that's when Roman
challenges Cody one more time because we're not having that
shoved down our throats enough.
Speaker 1 (59:34):
You're the weak link.
Speaker 2 (59:35):
I'm taking your title when I think we'd rather see
seam punk Roman. That sounds fresh, that sounds new, and
that's why they're not gonna do it.
Speaker 1 (59:45):
Uh. I don't hate the idea of Cody Rhodes taking
the pinfall for his team. I just don't think that's
going to.
Speaker 2 (59:51):
Happen the match that says birthright.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
Yeah. And if you're talking about people turning, so you
got brock Lessner on the other side, I think that
automatically means punk. Cody and Roman ain't turning because they
don't play second fiddle to anybody, and Rock ain't playing
second fiddle to anybody, So to have them join up
with Hayman and Company doesn't really make a lot of sense.
(01:00:16):
The USO thing could make sense. I just don't know
that it's worth the hassle because I don't know that
enough people will care that Jimmy and Jay turned. No
disrespect to those guys. I just don't But maybe that's
the way you go. But nah, eh, we'll see. I
don't think Jay turned well.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
I don't think jim Jay doesn't turn because the inference
is too important to WWE. He has nothing without the entrance.
Did you see him try to give a backbreaker to
poor Logan Paul? It looked like there was a rookie
involved in that sequence and it wasn't the dude with
the Dan blonde hair. Huh. I would turn him in
(01:00:58):
a heartbeat. It's like, you get rid of that entrance.
Speaker 1 (01:01:02):
But that's just me.
Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
It means more if the guy that the fans truly
loved is the one that stabs them in the back.
But again, I don't think they want to lose the entrance.
Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
I don't think they love. It doesn't mean shit exactly.
Jimmy turning on his own doesn't mean shit. I don't
think the fans actually love Jay Uso. I think they
love the entrance right that they live, and you're right,
without the entrance, he's mid card level talent, and that
sounds so dist I don't necessarily mean it disrespectful my book,
(01:01:33):
it's actually men as a compliment. The Jay Uso package
is incredibly over, but you take away that entrance and
it loses a whole lot.
Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
I don't think anybody turns in the match then, because
Jimmy doesn't matter. Jay can't lose his entrance. The Avengers
conquer whatever Hayman entity. This is until Paul Hayman A
tacks them again.
Speaker 1 (01:01:57):
Next week.
Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
I'm kind of really out of loss for this battle means.
At least last year with Sammy Cody instead of Cody
Cody in there, you had the end all be all
of the family war, which didn't actually mean anything, but
at least you felt like there was a reason in
a build. Besides, Paul Hayman was running around and collecting
(01:02:19):
talent literally to form me a war, to form an
army for this sport.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
Remember how we used to joke about Don Kallis being
a poor man's Paul Hayman. It's Paul's Paul Hayman. Yes,
he's transforming into a rich man's Don Kallis. Yeah. I
could see them losing being a rough night for the
Hayman family, if you will, and maybe somebody being upset
(01:02:44):
about it and postmatch beat down on one of the
Hayman guys.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Immense amount of respect for creative mind that came up
with AC with e c W that is bucked against
the system, that has found his way to consistently get
a job back with WWE, a creative power in pro wrestling.
But when he kind of hands the microphone to brock
Lesniar Roman reigns logan Paul Seth Rollins in the same manner.
(01:03:14):
It almost feels like Paul Hayman has better things to
do with his time and almost is on coasting mode
in WWE. It's not that his performance is bad, it's
just kind of stagnant. And I expected a guy of
his nature to have some quirks in his personality or
performance depending on which talent he was working with.
Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
Well, I think here's the issue with Rollins being out
and you having to do what you had to do there.
You don't have a main guy for Hayman. Now. Brock
may or may not be that guy again, but Brock
isn't really a part of the family, if you will,
at least not right now, although you could very easily
(01:03:58):
plug that back in. I think that's what's missing from Hayman.
Whether you look at his greatest success in WWE, seconding Brock,
seconding Roman and then the rest of the bloodline, he
doesn't have that one alpha. And that's the issue with
that current group right now.
Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
We have a vision, but they don't have any eyesight.
Speaker 1 (01:04:22):
They're young, they're developing, they're the future. He needs somebody established.
If I wouldn't hate seeing Lessener around more frequently and
being that guy just for the sake of Hayman and
the family. That's nothing about the outside the ring stuff
with Brock or anything like that. But that's what's missing
from Paul Hayman right now.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
If they didn't hate Drew McIntyre, he's this hulking figure.
I think he literally towers over Romarines at this point.
I don't feel like Roman is as muscular as he
used to be. I feel like Drew McIntyre has the physique,
the imposing stature. He could be that guy, but they've
obviously assessed that they won't give him that role.
Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
He could have been that guy. I don't think he
can be now. I don't think the fans buy it.
I don't even know.
Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
They did everything a stick of fork in him like
John Moxley did a Kyle O'Reilly.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
Yeah. I think at this point the fans would poop
all over that. Unfortunately, Look, Drew McIntyre kit can be
in the main event picture. He can have big matches.
He's not that Rock Roman level that you need, and honestly,
the only few guys that are so that ain't even
(01:05:33):
necessarily shitting on Drew McIntyre. But WWE creative has done
him no favors, and it's to the point now where
you could not buy him in that position. I don't
think I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
It was like the thought process that I was trying
to get into J D McDonough and Carmelo Anthony on
Monday Night Raw, and it was just.
Speaker 1 (01:05:54):
Agonizing it would be better if it was Carmelo Anthony,
but it was actually Carmelo Hayes. Oh shit. I was
trying to think of some that mattered my bad. I
don't know the co Corredo Anthony Batters either.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
He's at least on NBC, he gets regular run time
for their broadcast.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
He's probably he's probably on TV more there than Carmelo
Hayes is on WWE. So yeah, you're probably right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
Carmelo Hayes has went from I am him to his
moniker should be I look at him because when he shoots,
he misses.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
I did.
Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
They've done everything they could to make me disinterested in
Carmelo Hayes as much as now that it looks like
they're drawing some interest giving him a little bit of
of run. I need to know where are you on
the h bomb?
Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
I mean, I'm Pro Age Bom. I guess.
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
I just can't get into Ilia Dragona's finisher. It was
cool when Dan Henderson did it to Michael Bisbee in
the UFC, that one follow up massive kill shot. But
there's just something about dragging off and then the provocative
way that he falls into his opponents and he rolls
off of them like it was the most like tragic
(01:07:10):
thing he's ever done. Having to hold him down. I
want to be in to the Tag Team Division's US
Open title run. I just find it funny that they
call Tchampa a jackass, but I don't care about the
people calling him a jackass.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
I guess it's Look, there's a reason MMA and wrestling
are two different sports. It doesn't work on the pro
wrestling side, not without drastically changing. Yeah, I'm not a
fan of seeing MMA style submission moves and things like
that in pro wrestling. I don't think it worked because
(01:07:46):
the fake holds don't look like the real holds do.
And I think you said this earlier, like the real
holds do in MMA can't.
Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
Really it's hard to watch them screaming about the elbows
being extend ended or not extended in the arm bar
and it just never plays out. So yeah, unless MMA
and my pro wrestling in the submission game. It's why
I gave a kudos to Moxley and O'Reilly. They did
a find a job because they do have grappling experience
of making it as real as it can, but triangles
(01:08:18):
just don't belong in pro wrestling.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
All right, we'll wrap up on this because we've been
so adamant about getting Moxley out of the Death Riders.
Would you buy Josh Barnett as the new leader of
the Death Writers? Speaking of grapplers and people that Moxley
is trained under, they bring in Barnett because Moxley needs
somebody to relight the fire, and he just turns around
and turns on him. And this is my group, Blood
(01:08:42):
Sports coming to aw You could get me to that one.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
Blood Sports coming to ae W. A real grappler, a
real heavyweight, a real imposing figure. And I don't know why.
There's been times on the microphone where I feel like
Josh Barnett does not live up to the guy that
he is in interviews. He can be so analytical, so methodical,
so thoughtful and provocative on a microphone. If you're able
(01:09:08):
to draw that out as a character. He probably doesn't
have to do but one or two shoot matches with
John Moxley. We get some real blood, some real hard hitting.
That could be an intriguing addition. Bringing a piece from
off the board on I really love that idea.
Speaker 1 (01:09:22):
That just came to me. Where we were talking about
holds and the grappling background that actually does have and
how he got it makes a lot of sense. Micah,
Let's get out of here. Tell everybody how they can
keep up with you.
