Speaker 2 (00:11):
We beat baby tip boys, ladies, and gentlemen. I am
the sensational Sam Housen and this is Welcome to slam
Town Today. We're throwing it back to the early days
of the podcast because unfortunately resident young person just Joshna
is feeling a little under the weather. So what that
(00:34):
means is I am joined by the one, the only,
mister intimidating Tim.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
What's up. It's just it's just our old asses together.
No young people here, the.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Two resident old guys, one of which are both of
which turning the Big three.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
To oh this year, buddy, Hey, that is all you?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Oh right, it's me you're turning. You're not even gonna
be three yet.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Nope, I got what you Oh God, that's.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
To make myself feel young again. I'm going to crack
and sample the new Prime live on this podcast, Prime
Future Freeze.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Oh. I heard that chug. I heard that.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Chug Sherbet flavored. That is so good.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Hell, yeah, that's the Holy ship dude. That was a
solid chug too. I heard that. I heard that throw.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
People didn't think I was capping. Yeah, let me say
all the resident young person things because I miss him
and I hope he feels better. Ye scibbityriz phantom text.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Ohio, I think we're going a little a little too
young with that lingo. Oh, I'm thinking that's I'm thinking
that's for a younger demographic then our boy Josh.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Okay, when your four year old nephew hosts the show
with us, or however old he is, there.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
We go, we'll we'll be primed with the lingo for him.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Perfect. I'm not going to the aport. I think that's
four year old lingo. And Blue for those of you
watching at home classic Speaking of Blue, Avengence Day is
this weekend and it's being main evented by an Australian.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, is the event. Oh, I didn't realize that was
the main event. I thought the women's four Fatal four
way was the event.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
I think those are the two main event. It's the
Fatal four well. As of last night's episode of NXT,
it is a fatal four way for the NXT Women's title,
Julia defending against Roxane Perez Coorra Jade and Bailey Ailey.
Then the men's main event being ob he may defending
his NXT title against a town down under a triple
(03:05):
threat match Grayson Waller and Austin theory, it bothers me
that all of these titles are being contended for by
main roster people.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Yeah, that's a good point, I guess though, if for example,
like if Oba wins, that'll be a pretty like statement
win because he's able to be two main roster people. Yeah.
And then similarly, I feel like in a fatal four way,
like even if you like lose the belt, like if
you don't get pinned, like it doesn't really necessarily make
(03:40):
you look weaker in a sense, like for example, really
could pin someone else and win and not kind of
mess over. Julia's like.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
That this is her first defense of the title. Well,
she might have defended on an episode of NXT, but
this is like her first paper is Champion experience in
the Royal Rumble?
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Right, Oh that's good. Yes, any other while we're on
the topic of the n XT, I think there's another
big story we got to talk about yep, big appearance.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
We're skipping this week in wrestling this episode because this episode,
the whole thing is just going to be a week
in wrestling. We haven't had a chance in a while.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
We're cool stuff we saw.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
And if you look at the episode title, we are
just out here sharp shooting the ship.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
If you will, that's a great title.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Please make the thumbnail an actual turd locked in a sharpshooter.
You can do anything with AI these days. But yeah,
last night on NXT, I didn't get a chance to
watch it live. I was out and I was in
New York with my partner and we were coming home
(04:52):
and I get a text from friend to the podcast
Justin and he's like, are you watching NXT? So very
quickly find an illegal because we don't have cable. And
I'm like, they just turned it on?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Why?
Speaker 2 (05:04):
And he's like, Ricky Starks is there? And I was like,
here's a fucking way I turned it on. Ricky Starks
was there.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Starks fresh out of a e W.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
In twenty four hours after becoming a free.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Agent, that is a wild gat.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Ricky Starks shows up on Tuesday Night NXT.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Absolutely crazy.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
He's there to turn NXT upside down.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Yes, And one thing that I thought was interesting and
I feel like a few people pointed this out as well,
is they never name dropped him. They never said his name.
He never said his name. I think the crowd was
obviously chanting like Ricky Starks. But yeah, I wonder if
they have something new planned with his character. I don't
know how this works. Maybe they're trying to get the
(05:56):
rights for his name.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Well now they changed their name when they show up
to WWE because of like copyright stuff. There was a
list of names ww is actively trying to copyright that
I saw, but I can't remember a single one on there.
Some of them are a little goofy. But if he
can't be Ricky Starks, he's gonna have a new WWE
ass name.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
But yeah, he showed up, was in the crowd working it.
The Revolution is once again televised.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Speaking of recent like free agents that have left ae W,
we've also got Alistair Black and Miro formerly resev are
now free agents. They are also no longer under contract
with all Elite Wrestling, So Chad Gable has been teasing
(06:56):
on Monday Night Raw that someone is going to help
him against the Dark Arts of Lucha Lebright. What if
that's Malachi Black because the Black Mass, the Dark Arts,
all that stuff that would be cool, that would be
so cool. And then I feel like russev Miro, whatever
(07:18):
you want to call him, it was least likely to
show up back in WWE because of I feel like
he had a pretty bad falling out with them when
he left. So but who knows Ricky Starks showing up
absolutely frigging insane, didn't even get in the ring, just
kind of promo from the crowd, right and already about
(07:41):
his appearance. Other highlights from last night's episode of NXT.
Two more matches got added to well I saw two.
I'm not sure if the third one got added, but
I I know confirmed Eddie Thorpe versus Trick Williams in
a strap match has added.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
To Venians Day okay, and then.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Phraxium is defending against Josh Briggs and a gentleman from
Pro Wrestling Noah.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
That Yoshiki in Maru. It looks like.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Okay because the two of them were on NXT last
night in a tag team match a triple threat against
No Quarter Catch Crew and Hank and Tank. Oh, so
the two of them are challenging for the tag belts
at Vengeance Day. I don't know if it ever got confirmed,
but I know they were talking about possibly Ethan Page
(08:38):
versus Javon Evans.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
At Vencoce Day, and it looks like, according to the
site I'm looking at, the women's North American Belt will
also be defended Fallon versus Stephanie Vecker.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
I think we're going to have a new North American
Women's champion, comes paper view.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
I could see that happening. That's that's uh, that's that's
about it that I can think of for NXT updates.
I don't know if you have anything else, but maybe
it could work our way backwards chronologically.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Yeah, backwards chronologically, So that would put the next thing
we want to talk about real quick before we move on.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
WWE releases happened, That's right, that did happen this week.
It was quite a few.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
So if I remember correctly, Blair Davenport mm hmm, Cedric
Alexander gone? Do you Havevanni Vinci.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Gone?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Is Ladwn gone? What's awkward about is Ladon being gone?
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Being being gone? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
The speed match that went on YouTube today was her
versus Shatzi oops it shots, he wins and progresses in
the tournament. But it was like, oh, this is from
the they filmed it, Like must have filmed it like
a day or before or the day of her release,
because they usually tape it before SmackDown. So we know
(10:20):
that because we were at one of the earliest tapings
of w We were there for the inaugural Speed Tournament taping.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Basically yeah more or less, yeah, yeah, when.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
We went to Philadelphia for Mania weekend, So Blair, Davenport,
Cedric Alexander, Giovanni, Vinci east lydon Akam Raisar, Paul Ellerrig.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Did we get Sonya Deville did you mention her?
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Nope? Sonya Deville is gone.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
Did you get the brothers Gallows and Anderson?
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Gallows and ten I sing where Gallas and Anderson. The
first time they got released was when Charlotte Flair won
the Royal Rumble.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Oh damn, and that just happened again coincidence.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
It was like, if that's the right thing. It was like,
Charlotte Flair won the Royal Rumble, Gallas and Anderson get released,
and then she wins it again this year and they
got released again.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
MM hmmm. Yes, very very rough, very unfortunate. It's crazy. Yeah,
so there's a ninety day no compete. Yeah, and then
after that they might show up elsewhere.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Duke Hudson, that's the last one we missed from Chase University.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Oh Chase, you.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
One time NXT Tag Team champion.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Mm hmm. And then that I was gonna say that
that happened this week.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yeah, working backwards chronologically, that would put us at Saturday
where we watched m l W Super Fight six.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Yes, there was also a Monday Night Raw. I don't
know if you catched any of it. I did.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
I watched Monday Night Raw, so record, scratch, freeze, frame work.
We're now at Monday Night Raw, Monday Night Raw. I
can't believe. I was about to glance over this. We
have the first official match for WrestleMania in Las Vegas.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
We do it is A.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Will be challenging Guns for the World Heavyweight title in
a rematch from Saturday night's main event. You bet you
main event jay Uso, we haven't recorded.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
In a while.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
We're going to talk about it in this episode. But
jay Usso won the Royal Rumble this year, guaranteeing himself
a title match at WrestleMania. So what that means is
they had announced before jay Usso chose Gunther to be
his opponent that the Elimination Chamber for the men the
(13:29):
winner of that match will be facing whoever jay Usso
didn't pick at WrestleMania in the Night Too main event. Correct,
So we now know whoever wins the Men's Chamber will
be going up Cody Rhodes right as of recording, the
(13:52):
men's Elimination Chamber match consists of John Cena, who during
his retirement tour just announced that he's in the Elimination Chamber.
So John Cena is competing in the Elimination Chamber. Drew
McIntyre and See Him Punk both had to win qualifying
matches to compete in the Elimination Chamber. Drew McIntyre of course,
(14:16):
winning a triple threat against l A. Knight and Jimmy
Usso mhm, see them Punk won it his spot by
going one on one with Sammy's am. It's kind of
cool that they're doing triple threats on SmackDown Singles matches
on Monday Night Raw.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Yeah, gives a little I mean, obviously with the triple threat,
you get to see more people, so it also gives
a little variety there.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Great and I know this broke your your little heart.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Just rip the band it off.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
As of recording, the most recent qualifier for the men's
Elimination Chamber match, the always humble Logan Paul qualified defeating
ray Masterio in the main event of Monday Night, IRAQ
debuted New Entrance Music debuted a new finisher and I
didn't know this because I turned it off to go
(15:11):
to bed, but ray Masterio got taken out by the
New Day after the match.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Yeah, they came out and were on screen for maybe
five seconds and then credits roled and fit black.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
And then I saw that the fans in the arena
got to see the New Day put an absolute vicious
beat down on ray Masterio.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
And the lwo oh shit.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Yeah, so that's crazy. And I think Logan Paul's a
new finisher is called the Pulverizer mm hmm, stupid. That's
not the official name of it. That's just what Pat
McAfee called it on commentary.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Yeah, on the fly comment.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Do you think is going to be in the Elimination Chamber?
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I would love to see it. However, I feel like
They're like they might like they might want to build
him up a bit more like he's been very exciting
to see so far, But I feel like, maybe give
him a little more time. I don't know, right, and
then I would be happy if he was.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah, it would be cool, but I think it's too
much too soon. Yes, it's cool that Penta is there,
don't get me wrong, but I think putting him in
the chamber isn't.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
The right move.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yeah, if they want to focus showcase him on the
pay per view, he should get a cool singles match maybe,
but I don't think he should be in the elimination
chamber yet. Maybe make his next big like pay per
view moment the money in the bank.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Ooh, that could work well.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Well, Like I guarantee he would hit a destroyer off.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
The ladder or some shit.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Oh that would be mental, be so fucking cool. Yeah,
Logan Paul is in the men's elimination chamber? Was there
a women's elimination chamber by.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
Bailey defeated Lyra? Which is is kind of rough because
obviously Lyra is the current women's Intercontinental champion, so it's
kind of sucks to see her. I don't think she's
defended it, yet this might be her first match since winning.
It kind of sucks to see her lose like that,
(17:28):
But at the same time, I don't know, we.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Weren't gonna put her or Chelsea in this match as
the mid card champions, or maybe one of them is
going to be in the match, probably not win it,
but Chelsea Green, being from Canada, I feel like is
going to be on the Elimination Chamber card in some
capacity or will make the appearance.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah, she's She's been posting a lot about it being
like a homecoming show.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
But the winner of the Women's Elimination Chamber will get
the challenge. Whoever. Charlotte Flair, the winner of the Women's
Royal Rumble, does not pick the fight at WrestleMania. So
here's one thing that bugs me about Bailey being the
Elimination Chamber. She's challenging for the NXT Women's title on
February the fifteenth at Vengeance Day. She's main a main
(18:22):
roster talent appearing at the NXT pay per reviewed to
challenge for a title, which always rubs me the wrong
way because the last time they did that, it was
Becky Lynch and she took the belt off.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Of Tiffany's right.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
So if Bailey wins that title again, I'm not happy.
And then if she wins it, she goes into elimination
Chamber as NXT Women's champion.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Yeah, so, like, how does it help like the NXT
like women's division.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Like the title will be featured on a main roster
pay per view, So to put eyes on the title someone.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
So much, it'd be so much better one if it
was like one of the women from that division as
opposed to Bailey Bailey obviously.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
And then next week on Monday Night Raw is another
Elimination Chamber qualifier for the women. It's Raquel Rodriguez versus
Roxanne Perez. Yeah, so is Roxanne main roster now? Is
Vengeance date going to be her like go home n
xteam moment?
Speaker 3 (19:25):
I don't know. I feel like she's definitely ready for
main roster.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
So she doesn't win the title. Is Julia just going
to retain? Or will korra win it? Or does Roxanne
go main roster as champion like Page did back in the.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Day, Right, I feel like I could see Julia retaining.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
I feel like that's the safest bet. I feel like
this is if it's not her first, it's only like
her second title defense on an episode of that Xday.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
And I can see it being a good match too,
because I feel like that's a really good like the
four of them. I just feel like it's gonna be
pretty good.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Oh yeah, that Fatal four way is gonna rule.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
So another excited for Vengeance today.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Yeah. No, I'm excited too. I'll be checking that out.
I was gonna say. Another highlight from Raw was the
opening match, Dakota Kai and the Sky taking on Live
Morgan for kil Rider Guez liv Morgan got busted open
and it looked Oh I saw that there was quite
a bit of blood coming down her face. Very badass.
I was like, oh, heck, yeah, that's cool. Yeah, it's
(20:32):
very cool. Yeah, that's everything for me from Raw. Did
you have any other thoughts?
Speaker 2 (20:37):
I was excited to see that there was a Raw
tag team title match on the show, and then it
just did it in a disqualification.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Yeah, that's kind of unfortunate.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
The Creed Brothers got dqued, but usually when that happens,
you get another match somewhere down the line, probably won't
be at a pl E for whatever reason. Right, you'll
we'll get creeds versus Viking raiders. Well again, ye, maybe
the belts will change hands. Maybe they won't.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Only time will tell time after time.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Oh, speaking of Elimination Chamber, there's a pretty monstrous men's
qualifier on SmackDown?
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Is it? U? O? Wait? I was gonna say, is
it Drew mctiwan, but he already qualified.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
It's Bronze Stroman, Damian Priest, the newest member of SmackDown,
and Jacob Fatu.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Oh man, that is absolutely.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Qualifier for the elimination Chamber.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Hot damn. Yeah, no kidding.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
That's the three biggest men on SmackDown, like size wise, right,
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah, that's that's absolutely crazy.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
That'll be wild. Is it also triple threats for the women?
Speaker 3 (22:00):
No? I think the women have just been one on
one so far.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Because the women's match so far as Bailey Alexa Bianca.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Mm hmmm and Live Live.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Yeah, that sounds great. There's two spots left in the
women's two spots left, and the men if they're keeping
it in the traditional six because there was one year
elimination Chamber had seven guys and it started as a
triple threat.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
Oh that's just a fun fact, the more you know.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
So now if I remember how the flow of a
week works moving backwards.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Now.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Saturday, yes, we are m l W super Fight six.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Yeah. So this was a event that I think you
put Josh and I on in the sense that you
told us it was happening, and it was a It
was on YouTube, which was cool to watch.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Yeah, a lot of the MLW, like ute pay per views,
are just free on their YouTube channel when the stream works.
Because there was another one my dad and I wanted
to watch called Lucha Apocalypto, and we tuned in at
nine like it said it was going live, and then
(23:30):
at like nine thirty it still hadn't started. Then someone
in the live chat was like, my friend is in
the arena. They're announcing that the show isn't live because
they can't find the chords.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Oops.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
And then it just went uploaded like just to regular
YouTube as a replay. Then next night I was like, ah, oh,
we ordered pizza and stuff to have during this. Now
we gotta find someone else to do name that's und
I don't know. This is maybe like your only your
third or fourth time watching MLW or something.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
It's definitely not my first I definitely watched other stuff them.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
We watched slaughter House we first started the podcast.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
I feel like I've seen something else from them, so
I'm acquainted definitely.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Oh was it maybe War Chamber.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Oh that sounds right.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Their version of war Games, I think. Yeah. So this
was just a special event that they put out. Eric
Bischoff was there, he hosted it. He MLW one shot
fired Alex Kane from the company, but now Alex Kane
(24:46):
is back, so he's back in the company. He was
in the main event, his current MLW World Champion, the
King of the Bros, Matt Riddle, defending his belt against
the man he defeated to win the title, Satoshi Kajima,
and the man Kajima beat to win the title, a
(25:07):
recently reinstated Suplex Assassin Alex Kane. I thought the triple
threat was really quick.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Yeah. It was also interesting because they were hyping up.
They were like, oh, like, is Matt Riddle like gon
be able to retain her? Is he going to go
down as like you know, he only held it for
like he won it and then immediately dropped it because
they were hyping up. Alex Kane and Setoshi Kojima says, oh, mate,
this is me like a barn burner, and it was
(25:38):
pretty quick, like you were saying. I was like, oh, okay,
it's over.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
It felt like I watched the three of them enter
and then I look down at my phone to text
my partner back because she was going to bed, and
then I was like looking up as the bell was
ringing and Matt Riddle had won, and I was like,
I wasn't on my phone for that long.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
This card also featured a pretty stupid but fun.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Agreed.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
It was a honey trap match contested between Brett Ryan
Gosling of the Rogue Horsemen and Paul London. Yep, I
remember watching Paul London WWE Two words for you, Tim
(26:33):
Saint Rita's when he was in the w W That's
the elementary school Tim and I met at. I started
watching pro wrestling in the fifth grade and at the time,
Paul London and Brian Kendrick were tag team champions together.
So this was, oh my god. I couldn't even tell
(26:56):
you what year that was. But Paul London look so old.
M I understand that he is, and he's been doing
this a while because when he was in WWE, Initially,
like when I remember first seeing him, I didn't know
what independent wrestling was. I knew what WWE was and
TNA was because those were the two my dad would
(27:17):
let me watch because they were on television and he
could kind of like know that it wasn't this extremely
like graphic thing because it's on cable television. I didn't
know what independent wrestling was for the longest time. Paul
London already had like several years in Ring of Honor
and people knew who he was when he came to WWE.
(27:38):
But for me, it was just like, Oh, this is cool.
He's got like shorts but they're long anyway. And then
seeing him at this, I was like.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Wow, this guy's been around a while, right, damn right.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
So what a honey pop match was for honey trap
match confused me. So if you go to the Wikipedia
page honey trap Matches in purple, which means you can
click on it takes you to a Wikipedia page or
what a honety trap match is. But when you click
on it, it doesn't take you to that. It takes
you to the Wikipedia article just called gimmick matches, and no,
(28:17):
it takes you to a subsection that is the Mimosa
Mayhem match contested between Chris Jericho and Freshly Squeezed Orange
Cassidy at aw Full Gear during the pandemic. Interesting what
that match was was Freshly Squeezed Orange Cassidy being Orange
Juice and Chris Jericho having just released his own brand
(28:40):
of champagne called a little bit of the Bubbly Champagne
makes a Mimosa. So they had a Mimosa Mayhem match
where the only ways to win are by pinfall, submission,
or throwing your opponent into a that of mimosa. At
tie that your match has a stipulation to win, that
(29:04):
is throwing someone into a vat of mimosa. There is
a gigantic vat of mimosa.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
And this is.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Your match ends in a pinfall or submission. It's fucking
stupid throw them into the vat of mimosa.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Right That was That was why I was so like
interested in this, and I was like, oh, it's like
they're just gonna like someone's gonna end up in there.
But then it was just a regular match and then
they had to get thrown in there at the end.
It's like you should have just taken out the middle.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Man, this was just this could have been like the
hair versus hair or whoever got pinned there gets their
head shaved right, just advertising?
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Is that not?
Speaker 2 (29:44):
This is a honey trap match? And then by normal
pinfall and then what happened was Paul London pinned Brett
Ryan Gosling due to stipulation. Brett Ryan Gosling was going
to get thrown into a kiddie pool full of honey
and then covered in feathers. You had texted during this
(30:06):
that that was the fakes looking honey you had ever seen.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
It was so watery. I've never seen honey that thin before.
Like I've made like, uh, we have like a dish
that we like to make where it's like chicken, and
then we make like a honey sauce for it, and
we have to add like a bunch of we have
like a like a hot pot, and we add honey
to it and like a bunch of other stuff and
(30:29):
that sort of waters it down, but it's still super
like like viscous. So no shot on earth this was honey.
It was brown water unless the bees.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Were like shitty and dumb. I couldn't think of anything
funny to say, but like he was just like colored water.
It looked like but then we got out. He was sticky,
so maybe it was syrup.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
I have no clue.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Walter Houser was there, you know, Emmy Award winning or
Globe the Globe.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
Uh, I think he got I think that's Annie.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
He was there because as a TV tape and connected
to the show, he had a title match for whatever reason,
so freaking he helps Paul London basically tar and feather
brg and that was it. It was like, also very quick.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Yeah, but what the heck? And then it was I
was like, this was the highlight of my show, and
now it's not.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
There wasn't a women's title match, but there was Jenai
Kai versus another lady.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Yes, that was Mila Moore.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
That was also very quick. And then there was a
very hard to hear mans Krueger promo yep yeah, And
then the crowd was chanting we can't hear you, to
which mad Krueger responds with, well, when I cash in
and become champion again, then you'll hear me. I don't
even think they heard that because your mic was not brother.
(32:13):
And then other matches I thought the match of the show,
Kevin Knight versus Kenta.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Kevin Nice versus Kenta. That was a good one.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Yeah, holy shit, less than twenty four hours after Kenta
dropped the DeFi World title to Ricky Sparks.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Oh s yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Josh and I were texting about that in the group
chat and I was like, that match was so good.
It had like false finishes, power moves.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
It was just good.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
I like Kevin Knight a lot. And then when he
was like storyline injured and couldn't compete in his match
at the last show they did or two shows ago,
I was like, damn, I don't get to see Kevin
Knight in a ladder match. Friggin. This match was really good.
(33:07):
And at the end, Hideoatami that's his name when he
was in w W briefly, Kenta said he wants a
shot at the MLW World Heavyweight title. Doesn't care if
it's Matt Riddle, Kojima or Alex k He'll be coming
for it and they won't be ready. Excuse me. That
(33:31):
match was really good. And then you have the Wikipedia
open in front of you or the article in front
of you.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
I've got the Internet Wrestling Database perfect.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
The opening match was a lucha tag match.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
It was.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
The names of the men.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Oh my god, okay es Finge and Temporario. We're victorious
and they were going up against Mascara, Dorada and Mystico.
How did I do close?
Speaker 2 (34:05):
You were you were pretty, you were you were good.
Mistico for those of you at one point was sin
Kara in the w W E yep. And then that
guy Templario fucking inked dude.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
Yeah, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
I think that was the first time in a while
Mystico has been pinned. So I think it was Templario
that pinned him. Challenged for in MLW. I think it's
the middleweight title that's about. Mystico holds uh and Caesar
Duran made the match official for the Battle Riot, which
(34:48):
is like the next event they're going to do, which
we'll talk about again in a second. But Caesar Duran,
I know you probably haven't seen it, maybe in like
TikTok clips or something. Did you ever watch to Luca
Underground when it was.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
On, uh? I know we talked about it though I've
seen a few clips of like very specific matches that
I was interested in.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
The Szar Doran used to be Dario Cueto, the owner
of Luca Underground that was the character that show. Leach
Underground was really cool because it was executive produced by
Robert Rodriguez, the creator of Spy, Kids by Kids and
(35:28):
several other movies that are good. Robert Rodriguez executive produced it.
He also owned the channel at aired on the l
Ray network, which when Lucha Underground first debuted, I was
like hooked. I wanted to watch it, but we didn't
get the channel. Unbeknownst to me, pretty sure my dad
(35:49):
contacted our cable provider to get the channel because by
the time season two world around, we could watch it.
Hell yeah, I was like, that's so fucking cool. And
what was awesome about Luchaunderground. It was like it had
the wrestling and stuff, but the backstage segments and whatever
were presented like multi shot like a TV show, not
(36:10):
like you get what I'm saying, Like he has like
a filmed thing right there was like one of the
wrestlers was actually an undercover cop and the other guy
he was looking for was like an escaped cartel member
who was hiding out as a wrestler, and then they
were like demons and all this other shit and undercover
(36:31):
cops Demons, the Powers of the Gods, Ray Mysterio was there,
Ezekiel Jackson for some reason, Chabo Guerrero, honky tonk Man
had a cameo. It was just really cool and like
people got killed off, people got brought back from the dead,
and it was like just awesome, And it was a
(36:51):
lot of people's exposure in the United States to Lucha Libre.
I felt like because that was like my exposure to it,
you know, so I feel like like another there were
other kids, I mean we were in like high school,
other high school age kids that didn't really know how
to access wrestling, that could access wrestling outside of WWE
(37:13):
and what else.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
You saw on TV.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
So that was really cool. That's why Leucha Underground stuck
out to me. I know it's a mixed bag for
a lot of people, but it was really cool. I know,
like a lot of people who are stars now were
on Lucha Underground, just under masks.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Yeah, Like Chelsea Green was on there.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Chelsea Green was on it. Eosky was on was on it,
Penta was on it, Ricochet was on it. He was
Prince Puma, he was under that mask. There was a
Lucha dore named Kilshot who was like a military veteran
that wore the mask to hide his face because he
had like this great shame from his time in the
service that was Swerve Strickland underneath that mask.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Shit.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yeah, Brian Cage was on there. He's an aw right now.
Current JUG Championship Wrestling champion Willie Mack was on Lucha Underground.
The Mad Dog Matt Cross was on Mucha Underground. He
was son of Havoc. John Morrison was there, but he
was Johnny Moondo. PJ Black, the former Justin Gabriel of
(38:16):
the Nexus was on Lucha Underground. Like there were so
many people who showed up and it was just so cool.
Jack Swagger was on Luca Underground. Tommy Dreamer showed up,
Tomo Marrero, Like a lot of people from when I
was a kid were there. A lot of people I
know now as an adult watching it were there. And
then they had like people who were legends in Mexico
(38:41):
came in and were fighting in the US to represent
for their home country. And now that I'm an autistic
adult who likes wrestling, I hyper fixate. So when I
watched Triple A stuff, it's like, oh, I know them
because of Luca Underground. This is cool, Like, I wouldn't
ever know who Pimpanela Escarlatta was Timper Now, it's a
(39:06):
wrestling drag queen basically, And my dad and I were
watching a triple A thing. Pimpy comes out and I'm like,
oh my god, it's Pimpy was like, what the hell
are you talking about? She was on Luca Underground and
they just had like cool titles. They had, like the
(39:26):
Gift of the Gods Championship, and that was cool because
wrestlers would compete for these talismans, and then when all
seven of them were collected, they weren't a match for
the Gift of the God's title and they had to
put their medallion into the title belt to make it complete.
Then the winner of it became the Gift of the
(39:47):
Gods Champion, but then could cash it in like a
money in the bank for the Luca Underground Championship. Right,
there's a test later. Just let me connect this back
to Luca Underground.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
Full circle moment Paul.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
London competed on Lucha Underground, We're connecting it back to
MLW Boom. He was the leader of the Rabbit Tribe,
a group of Alice in Wonderland themed Luca Doors and
I can connect it back to the WWE releases we
talked about at the beginning of the episode. Paul London's
(40:27):
tag team partner in the Rabbit Tribe was the White
Rabbit played by one Carrion Cross. Oh shit, Final Testament,
who just had three members in Akam Razar and Paul
Ellrid be released.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
Dude, you brought that ship full circle.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Boom. Yeah, was really cool. This lucha match on the
MLW show was really cool. I really like the backstage
segment where Eric Bischoff found Matty because smaller getting high
in his office. And because of that, Eric Bischoff announced
(41:13):
that this year's Battle Riot, which is a special match
and show that MLW does, will be for the MLW
World Title.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
Yes, and I was trying to figure out how he
was explaining it. He made it seem like Matt Riddle
has to defend his belt against all fifty people or
something like that.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Matt Riddle is going to enter the Battle Riot as champion.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
Gotcha.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
If Matt Riddle wins the Battle Riot, he remains champion.
If he gets eliminated, we're guaranteed a new champion.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
Okay, that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
So it's a it's like a forty person royal rumble basically,
and you can get eliminated by being thrown over the
top rope. You can also get pinned or if you
tap out your oleminated.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
Hell yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
They pre taped last year's So Far in advance that
by the time it aired, the guys who were in
the final four had like already returned to WWE or TNAHOA.
Speaker 3 (42:15):
Holy shit.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
Yeah, Killer Cross made it to the finals and then
he was already back as Final Testament on like WWE television.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
Queziness. Yeah. I didn't have any other things from from
the MLW show aside from the hot boxing segment. I
thought it was pretty fun.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
That was really funny, real quick before we talk about
the main event, No pun intended. There was a new
Japan show that I was getting updates about while I
was taking the train into New York with my partner. Yesterday.
We have a new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, the Samurai
(43:00):
Roki Godu go To Baraki Godo has won the IWGP
Championship for the first time. This is his ninth attempt
at winning the title and he finally succeeded.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
Oh damn by as.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
Zach Saber Junior at New Beginnings in Osaka. The first
time he challenged for the belt was two thousand and eight.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
Well that's a long time coming.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
So I think he's the if you can pull it up.
I think he's the twelfth person to hold the IWGP
title under the new like chronology of the title. Let
me see for thirteen, he's like twelve or thirteen.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
Let's go to the wiki page for.
Speaker 2 (43:52):
You, because like New Japan will do this cool thing
where like when the guy comes out who's champion, will say,
like thirty seventh such and such champion in Kim Hamlin
or whatever. They like have your statistic as like what
so it.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Is the twelfth the twelfth time it's changed hands, he's
the tenth winner because they were.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Okay, yes, okay, so he's the twelfth champion, tenth holder.
So I got the number right, Yes, I.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
Will give it to you.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
Than He defeated Zach Saber Junior in the main event
of New Beginnings in Osaka, and then at Wrussell Dynasty,
Matthew and Nicholas Jackson the Young Bucks want the IWGP
tag team titles, which They also lost at New Beginnings
to Nito and I don't remember the other guy's name,
(44:47):
but he's like a time travel like not time travel,
he's he's called the time Bomb or something, but he
enters the ring in like a giant mascot costume of
a cat. It kind of looks like the cat from
Yokai Watch. It's funny, but they're the LFI.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
No, not THELFI, the l I j uh.
Speaker 2 (45:13):
They won the tag titles off of the Young Bucks,
and those are the two big title changes. Evil returned
after disappearing quote unquote Evils Japan like ended, and then
he wasn't returning any of their phone calls and like
(45:33):
wasn't responding to the do you want your contract renewde
thing showed up at New Beginnings and him and the
House of Torture attacked the other Bullet Club faction, the
war Dogs, and kicked the war Dogs faction out of
Bullet Club. So now House of Torture is the Bullet
Club war Dogs is its own thing. So Gabe Kid
(45:59):
like his first big feud is gonna be against Evil
because New Japan is fully putting in stock behind Gabe Kid.
Damn Yeah. But now we can talk about the Royal Rumble,
the Royal.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
Real, which I must say was a very fun time.
Who holler. Indeed, we had a little get together, got
to watch it live, had some fun pop offs for
some crazy movements.
Speaker 2 (46:31):
I thought your neighbors were going to bang down the doors.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
Dude, we don't care about them.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
Fuck them kids.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Yeah, so there were obviously there were the two roy
Rumble matches on this card, the men's and the women's.
And aside from that, I think I think you and
Josh covered the card uh prior.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
To you right, Yes, we did episode Josh and High.
Speaker 3 (46:59):
So we had the men's w W Tag Team belts defended,
and we also had Cody with his uh w W
Universal Championship defending as well, and.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
Then the two Royal Rumbles. So that made every single
match on this card a gimmick match.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
It did, and there are no straight ones.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
Between the two Royal Rumbles men and the women. Which
one did you like better?
Speaker 3 (47:27):
Oh? I feel that's kind of hard because I think
that my gut is saying men's solely because Joe Hendry
showed up right. But on the flip side, I feel
like the women had a lot more variety, like they
had a lot of that had a lot of surprises
(47:49):
that some representation they had like Alexa Bliss coming back, hurried,
Nikki Bella coming back, Tris Stratus just showing up.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
She's also back.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
Oh nice.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
Charlotte Flair ultimately won it.
Speaker 3 (48:05):
That was a little yeah.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
She became the first woman to win it twice.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
Yep, so that was cool.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
Roxanne Perez was in the match. She that's who Charlotte
eliminated to win. Charlotte or Roxanne set a new record
for longest time spent in the Women's Royal Rumble. I
think it's an hour and three minutes, right? Did I
get that right?
Speaker 3 (48:30):
It was? It was definitely over an hour. Let me
see this.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
Pit an hour three.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
Doing some quick searching, it was one hour, seven minutes
and forty seven seconds officially coming from w W damn.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
That's crazy. Alexa Bliss, returning her jacket, said fiend forever
on the back of it. But what it was didn't
really close. There was an R between the F and
the eye. Because she was sister Abigail, she was working
with the Fiend. She went off and had her baby
Bray passed while she was gone, so that was cool.
(49:14):
I think she's gonna step in and kind of lead
the Wyatt six while I think it's bo Dallas is injured,
so you can kind of lead while Uncle Halie is
away because Wyatt six and Alexa Bliss are both out
of this background last.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
Yeah, there you go. I will say it was like Alexiblis.
We briefly mentioned that she had won her qualifying match.
It was kind of odd for them not to do
any sort of like backstage segment with her, like no promo,
(49:48):
like it was just just her wrestling. Like I don't
think we've heard her on the bike at all since
she's returned, right.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
No, she just kind of talked in a backstage thing
I saw briefly was like I'm back.
Speaker 3 (50:01):
Yeah, So I don't know, maybe she'll a little bit more.
We're chatty time this upcoming.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
Uh yeah, yeah, Charlotte won. We don't know who she's
going to challenge your WrestleMania yet.
Speaker 3 (50:18):
We were money. My money's probably on Tiffany because I
feel like her and Tiffany here kind of have similar
gimmicks in a way, which is kind of bratty Stratton
shirt right now. Nice? Yeah, yeah, we we don't know for.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
Sure if she challenges Tiffany at WrestleMania and then wins,
that's gonna piss off a lot of people. Myself.
Speaker 3 (50:43):
Yeah, yeah, I feel like Tiffany could win though against her.
I don't know, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
That would be cool. That would kind of establish her
as like future stock, you know, yeah, for sure. I'm
trying to think what other cool moments when the Women's man,
I think a lot more surprises like you said in this.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
Oh for sure, it was great set Jordan Grace showing
up everyone. Everyone kind of had a feeling like she
was definitely it wasn't announced, but everyone knew that she
had signed. She's just trying to put people off and
be like, oh, I'm celebrating with my mom.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
Obviously me any day you feel anything. I saw TikTok
and it was like buff Sabrina Carpenter isn't real. She
can't hurt you. And then it was the clip of
Jordan Grace entering at the World Rumble because she kind
of looks like a buff Sabrina Carpenter. Now I've been
watching it on repeat. Anyway, she showed up, that was cool.
(51:42):
She picked up Piper Nivin and people were like, damn,
that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
Jade Cargill did not return.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
Nope.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
Again one of the biggest flops as of late. Unfortunately again,
Charlotte winning just really me the wrong way.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (52:02):
The men's tag team title match Guns versus d I Y.
I was excited for going in, but it was really
kind of disappointed and by the end of it, it
just served for the return of the Street Profits, right.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
And I will say though, I feel like two out
of three falls matches definitely a gimming that you don't
see often. So I was kind of excited for in
that sense, but I feel like it was a little
too a little too quick.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
It feels like we're just going to get another like
fatal four way tag team showcase thing at WrestleMania, like
we always do.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
So one night will be like dy if they're still
champions by the time WrestleMania rolls around, defending against the
Guns pretty deadly and Street Profits right, and then over
on Raw it'll be like Viking Raiders or whoever is
the champs at the time, Creed Brothers Judgment Day representation
(53:02):
and maybe the New Day yeah, or if it's not
the Judgment Day representation. It's the l w L or
whatever it ends up being.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
That.
Speaker 2 (53:13):
Imagine if I just was like, they announced that tomorrow
and I was like, I fucking got it. But they
should really be booking actual feuds of the tag team division,
not just this is the showcase of our four best
tag teams or whatever I want. The storyline Triple H
(53:34):
great singles career, but also had a great tag team career.
Can't do a tag team division to save his freeom
of life. I say that once an episode.
Speaker 3 (53:44):
That phrase. At this point, Yeah, that is what keeps
saying it.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
So this match was cool on paper, a little disappointing
in execution. The ladder match Cody versus Kevin.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
That was kicked as that, I think I would say
match of the night.
Speaker 2 (54:03):
Yeah, if you didn't like it's hard, it's the Royal Rumble.
It's got a gimmick, right, like, you can't pick the
two Royal Rumbles for your choice of match of the night.
Tag title match sucked, So this.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
One easy, easy do. That was this is a wild
match for sure.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
So good, so so good.
Speaker 3 (54:29):
I'm also looking at the uh but that was this
the the card and it says duration this was almost
a half hour match.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
The ladder match.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
Yeah, it was twenty five minutes.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
God damn.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
I liked it because there were some crazy spots obviously,
but also I feel like they did a really good
job of setting stuff up, like for for their stories
down the line, especially when it came to like Sammy
Zaying coming out and obviously he's one of Kao's friends
and he's also tight with Cody, and Sammy like came
(55:11):
out to checking out Kevin but didn't really do anything
to stop Cody. We're starting to see that play out
now with Kevin kind of turning on Sammy. It just
feels like there were all these like little pieces leading
up to it and coming off of it that are,
you know, just leading to more stories, which is exciting.
But on top of that, it's also a really freaking
good match, Like ladder matches are always exciting. It's I
(55:36):
feel like it was a good Hopefully we'll see maybe
possibly end to the feud between Ko and Cody, almost
in the same vein as like Drew and Seth finishing
off their feud with the helmetsel. It was nice. I'm
just kind of going all out. Kevin took some nasty
bumps the same as Cody. See, I just really good
(56:00):
chat all around.
Speaker 2 (56:02):
I think you had said it in the group chat
that it feels like they're setting up Kevin Owens versus
Sammy at WrestleMania.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
Yeah, I could see that happening for sure.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
That would be awesome. Indeed, there would be so weaking too,
uh weed. So let's very quickly talk about the men's
all rumble.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
Yes, let me talk to you, let me talk to you. Yeah,
so we had. I'm trying to think, like, are there
any big surprises in this. I can't really think. I
(56:49):
mean maybe aj Styles.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Styles turned y.
Speaker 3 (56:54):
I'm looking through problem.
Speaker 2 (56:56):
Well. Joe A. Styles returned with his original entrance music
for when he first started m we Don't Want No
not that death rebel shit.
Speaker 3 (57:07):
Yeah, none of that, and nobody likes.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
That's why finn Balord got zero pop because he got
new entrance music, some deaf rebel crap. No one knew
it was him. That's why no one reacted when Finn
Balord came out.
Speaker 3 (57:21):
Yeah, and I've heard a lot of people kind of
talking about that. Like one of the big things with
Royal Rumble is like you hear the music it and
you're like, oh shit, it's my boy. Uh yeah. But
the problem is if you change the music, then you
don't know when your boys coming out.
Speaker 2 (57:42):
Well, like, what was your buddy's name, Mikey.
Speaker 3 (57:44):
Mike, Mike, Yeah, Mike was that? Did you guys know that?
Speaker 2 (57:50):
Like as soon as we heard the first two notes
of Joe Hendry song.
Speaker 3 (57:53):
We popped right. Oh, it was so great.
Speaker 2 (57:56):
Yeah, he entered it what thirteen?
Speaker 3 (58:00):
Yeah, he was around the middle.
Speaker 2 (58:01):
Yeah, it was like oh shit. And then he like
had the moment with Roman. He eliminated someone, didn't he?
Speaker 3 (58:09):
He mean, I think I have to go to Wikipedia
for that. It doesn't show it on the card. I
think I think Joe eliminated someone.
Speaker 2 (58:20):
Yeah, I feel like, will you do that?
Speaker 3 (58:23):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (58:24):
Pentagon had the most time in the Men's Royal Rumble
match with forty two minutes.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
Wow, good for him.
Speaker 2 (58:34):
He barely did anything though, you notice that?
Speaker 3 (58:38):
Yeah, And we were kind of joking at this. Throughout
the thing, he would just you know, when we would
get back to see all the action in the ring,
he'd usually just be hunched over in the corner. All right.
So I have the Wikipedia page pulled up Joe Hendry
you are correct. He did not eliminate anyone. He was
(59:01):
in for about three minutes and he did get thrown
up by Roman Reigns. Penta, despite entering.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
Second material was number one.
Speaker 3 (59:12):
Yeah. Despite entering second and lasting the most amount of time,
Penta had one elimination.
Speaker 2 (59:17):
Yeah, he eliminated Ludwig Kaiser six seconds in.
Speaker 3 (59:21):
To him being in the ring. Oh goodness, it's crazy.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
I believe Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu tied for most
eliminations in that match with four apiece.
Speaker 3 (59:35):
Yep, that's correct.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
And for the first time in history someone won entering
from the twenty spot.
Speaker 3 (59:44):
Yeah, never had that happen yet. That was the main event.
Speaker 2 (59:48):
Jay Husso, who won my last eliminating John Ceno.
Speaker 3 (59:53):
Hell yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
I thought all the cool exciting stuff really happened in
the women's match, like Joe showing up and aj returning
was cool for the men, but it was just like, oh,
Speed was in it. That was a surprise.
Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
Oh that's a good point, okay, yea for getting a
few people.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
Got taken out by Carmelo Hayes. Triple h was backstage.
It was like, we need a replacement Speed, you go
do it and then Speed got absolutely bodied by bron Breakers.
Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
It was wild.
Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
Oh my gosh, had an elimination.
Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
The whiplash on his neck when he.
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
Uh oh yeah, got do they helped eliminate Otis. Yeah,
and then Otis like tossed him through the announced table. Basically, yeah,
that was a shock. And then they showed Kai Sina
at ringside. Kai Sina and Speed both got w W
(01:00:56):
official merchandise for Wow. Should braun Strowman eliminated Jacob tATu
so it feels like that feud is still happening. But
also Jacob is going after a title or wants to,
so that's strange. Damian Priest allegedly had a big mess
(01:01:19):
up and there's an awkward timing thing where Drew him
and Jay bumped into La Knight while he was trying
to do that move on logan.
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
Paul, Yeah, I've heard a lot of people are trying
to figure out if that is like legitimate grievances or what,
and like people analyzing it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
So I have no clue, And then a lot of
people it led to speculation that Drew McIntyre was eliminated
at the wrong time because Drew was backstage upset screaming
and yelling and left the arena before the Royal Will
even ended.
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
M very good at playing angry, though, so I guess
to see what's up.
Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
And then it led to a lot of people speculating
that jay Usso wasn't the original pick to win and
he should have been eliminated at that point, not Drew McIntire.
Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
I don't know who knows. It's exciting, though it definitely
was not expected.
Speaker 2 (01:02:17):
I think we're definitely on the road to WrestleMania, so
that's always exciting.
Speaker 3 (01:02:24):
You bet we are. That's exactly what we call this.
The season.
Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
In between winning the Royal Rumble on Saturday, the first
in Monday the third, the following episode of Monday Night Raw,
jay Usso got like three new T shirts. His Royal
Rumble Winner shirt that says twenty twenty five Men's Royal
(01:02:49):
Rumble Winner jay Uso, a new orange T shirt that
says yeat on it, and then a WrestleMania shirt that
says like main event jay Usso, yeat Mania or something.
I think this dude is just printing merch.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
I think you had the orange one on maybe this
past roth, I want to say.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
And he got to celebrate with his song in the ring.
Speaker 3 (01:03:18):
That's nice. Yeah, that was cool.
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Michael Cole told the story on the Pat McAfee show
that he saw Rakeshi after the rumble. Rakeshi the father
of Jay Uso, and Rikeshi had no idea Jay was
winning and just started freaking out. That's peering up. It's like,
that's awesome that your dad was watching and got to
see that he's also Rakeshi was talking to Jimmy Usso,
(01:03:47):
the twin brother of Jay Usso, and was like, I know,
Jacob and Jay are off doing their own things, Jacob
being Jacob Fattou. Someday you'll be there too. You'll be
a solo star too, like you'll be able to You'll
be a sold name like your brother is. Don't let
it discourage you. And I think everybody's just so happy
for Jay Uso. It was a shock win. I don't
think he's main event caliber, world champion face of the
(01:04:12):
company yet, but maybe by the time we get to WrestleMania, right.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Because that's kind of the point of like money in
the bank Royal Rumble, as you're supposed to, at least
in theory, kind of use it to hopefully build like
your next big talent. I think maybe more so money
in the bank than royal rumble. Yeah verya like you're
saying we're definitely on the road to WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
Yeah, I'm excited and I have a couple of things
I'd like to talk about off mic with you pretending
to WrestleMania in another big event this year, Yes, sir,
I think with that. What did the podcast to do
for this episode?
Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
Hell yeah, my brother, Hell.
Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
Yeah, dog, goodbye.
Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
Thank you for listening. I hope you guys in.
