Speaker 1 (00:16):
Warning, prospect Watch is not your average hockey podcast, and
that's okay with us. Our goal is to introduce you
to stars in the making from all over the world.
They may not be household names yet, but we assure
you they will be soon enough.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Welcome to prospect Watch. Ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Welcome to the next episode of prospect Watch with your
host lay Screen.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
All right, guys, hello, and welcome to the latest edition
of prospect Watch, a podcast that focuses solely on the
discovery and promotion of some of the best young talent
in the game today from all reaches of the world.
As Steele just said, I'm your host, Lance Green and
joining us tonight. We have the pleasure of having a
mister Aiden Park from the Green Bay Gamblers of the
(01:15):
us HL. Aiden, how are you? Thank you so much
for joining us?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Yeah, doing good? Thank you for having me?
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
All right, So, guys, if you're not quite familiar with Aiden,
let me get you familiar real quick, all right. You know,
considering that for reasons unbeknownst to me, Aiden was overlooked
by every NHL team last year's draft, despite him averaging
(01:45):
one point sixty six point poor game last season, for
you know, Saint Mary's. So he scored guys thirty goals,
sixty three assists for ninety three points and only fifty
six games played last season. But nevertheless, it would appear
(02:07):
that Aiden has not let these clubs momentary laps and
judgment affect his play, seeing that this six foot one,
one hundred and eighty five pounds two way center with
a high motor has not missed a beat this season, guys,
seeing that he can still be found outworking the competition
on a nightly basis up in Green Bay with the Gamblers,
(02:30):
where through forty seven games played so far this year,
he has managed to post twenty six goals twenty nine
assists for fifty five points. Who right, So with that
being said, steal Man, you can see I'm kind of
excited to interview this young man here and finally get
him on with us. Let me catch my breath here,
(02:52):
and why don't you start us off with some questions?
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Well, Aiden, thank you very much for hopping on here, man,
really appreciating you're definitely a player that's right up our
alley here for sure, two way center and everything like that.
So we heard Lance describe your game a bit but
could you tell us, uh, if you believe that to
be maybe an accurate discripsion, and is there anything that
(03:16):
he may have left out of all that, you know,
you feel that it's worth noting maybe your shot for
taking ability.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Did we miss anything in that?
Speaker 4 (03:28):
No, I think I think Lance did a good job.
I think.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
Working hard and being two hundred foot or two pillars
of my game. But I also think playmaker is a
huge part of my game too.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah, I think we both agree, Lance, What do you think?
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Yeah, I mean definitely, I mean, his his shots amazing guys,
but to be able to set up guys as well,
you know, and having some great teammates there, you know,
in Green Bay, to be able to do that for sure.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
So all right, So.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
In the opening I mentioned you playing previously for Shadow
at place where so many NHL greats like Sidney Crosby
and Jonathan Tabes got their start. So tell us how
much did playing there and learning at that place a
place like that, contribute to the player you are today?
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (04:24):
I think I think I can credit all my success
to Shaddock. I'man I was there for four years from
my freshmen to senior year, and they really have all
the resources to become a successful player. I mean tons
of extra ice, you can work out, skate whenever you want,
great coaches, just a super competitive environment. If you really
(04:46):
put the work in, you will become a good player
just because of the amount of resources they have.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
So and you're there with.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
A lot of like minded players that also want to
push each other and get better. So I think I
can credit up pretty much all my success to those
four years of shatt Eck.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
I would have to say we agree with that. We
We've spoken to quite a few.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Alum uh from that place, and I'll tell you and
and and to a man, the work ethic is there
is instilled in each one of those players.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
And you're you're right along there.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Man, you know what I mean, You're you're right in
that same breath, you know what I'm saying. So with
that being said, the fact that you know, I'm gonna
touch a little bit of but the fact that you
didn't get drafted last last summer and has that kind
of driven you, you know, did that kind of put
a chip on your shoulder for this year?
Speaker 4 (05:38):
I mean yeah, for sure.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Personally, I don't think I had my best season last year,
and you know, there was some ups and downs, and
I didn't have a great start, so you know, obviously
not getting drafted was a huge disappointment, but there's there's
no one to be upset with other than yourself. So
I just really challenged myself to have a big year
and just play with a chip on my shoulder and
just try to prove people wrong.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I think you've accomplished that, sir, for sure, for sure.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
So speaking of that, you know, speak on your decision
to join the Gamblers and did that you know it
did the fact that you're playing with Will Zeller's there
now who played with you as Shaddock, make that transition
any easier.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Yeah, I mean I've played with Will last couple last
three years now. We were both drafted by the Gamblers
back in twenty twenty two, right, so we both knew
we would be coming here this year. And I think,
you know, it's a new league, new team. I did
play a couple of games in playoffs last year, so
(06:47):
but it was still really unfamiliar. So just having a
really good buddy line made now too that I could
transition with help to make it a lot easier, for sure.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
I like seeing how you guys play off of each
other too. It's it's really it's really cool watching you
guys play together, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
It's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
And so I gotta tell you something, Aiden. I'm an
old chef, right and and I know you're California, and
you've traveled around a little bit now and you've played
in Minnesota. Now, you played in Green Bay and so
over your travels, have you acquired a fondness for any
of the great White North cuisine or uh?
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Do you have something that maybe you much rather prefer?
Speaker 5 (07:31):
I think being in Wisconsin. Now I've had cold I've
had culvers a good amount, which I haven't I don't
think they definitely don't have in California. So right, love
culver is now a good concrete mixer. Starting to like
cheese curds, which huge Wisconsin thing.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Okay, Yeah, that's that's it so far though.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Okay, So what's your favorite thing for back home?
Speaker 3 (07:56):
What do you miss from backham now?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Or that?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:59):
What do you missed from back in and out?
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Every time I go back home, it's right next to
the airport, so that's the first thing I eat there.
Speaker 6 (08:11):
You go, Yeah, all right, all right, Okay, so I
see you're gonna attend and play for the University of
Michigan Big Blue.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
There.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Can you speak on you know, why you chose to
go play for the Wolverines over some other schools.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Yeah. Of course.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
Back back in my junior year, I took visits to
three schools that were my final three, and you know,
I visited all three and I kind of reflected on
it after, and I just had that gut.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Feeling that I wanted to go to Michigan.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
I mean just being there and seeing the culture, the
amount of guys they produce and send to the NHL,
and it just really felt like a family there and
I could really see myself going there. So, I mean,
you know, I visit all three schools and I reflected after,
and it didn't really take long for me to be like, yeah,
Michigan is the place I want to go to.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
I think walking down that hallway and seeing the wall
of everybody that's played there at one time and the
names on that wall of you know that made it
now to the NHL is just you can't beat that
when you go to some of these other schools, and
that the facilities are amazing. And you know the history
(09:31):
and yost Ice Arena there. Just I mean, that's that's
hard to beat from any other school. That's you know,
trying to bring you in, I think. So yeah, you know,
I can't I can't wait. I don't know about used to,
but I can't wait to watch you know, some collegiate
hockey and uh, you know, have you joined the ranks there?
Speaker 1 (09:50):
So I mean, yeah, I gotta be honest with you,
and I watch a lot of Big ten hockey. Okay,
that's fun to watch, and I'm excited. I'm really excited
because you know, the Minnesota's, the Penn States, the Ohio States,
Uh you know what I mean, those teams are always
usually you know, pretty competitive and and Michigan is always
(10:10):
right there too, and we're excited to see you succeed
there in Michigan, ask for sure, man, So.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
I got a question for you here, man.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
So, yeah, as we're having this interview here, we're playing
highlights of you, okay and your team and so in
about a month ago here now because because uh, you know,
that's kind of the footage that I can get. But
a month ago, in the final game in your series
against the Chicago steel and the second goal that you scored, okay,
(10:44):
Uh did that puck go off of you and then
you roofed it or or how did that happen?
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Wait?
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Chicago Steel last month's second goal of the game.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Was it at Chicago?
Speaker 1 (10:58):
I can't remember if it was at chac but it
was your second goal, and I think it was in
the third period.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Was it the backhand?
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Yeah? Okay, I know you're you roofed it, like you
totally roofed it.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Yeah, I mean it was on the power play. Uh
had a good shot, yea happened to be there for
the rebound, Okay.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
I was just curious because I couldn't really tell if
it bounced off of you or not. I couldn't really tell,
but it looked like it did. And then you just
kind of roofed and I was like, all right, second goal.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah, you know, it takes them. It takes them a
little bit. Still.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
You see how many points he scored this year already,
and yeah, it's hard to it's hard to, you know,
think about it. I remember, all right. So one of
our final questions here, m hmm, let's pretend I'm an
NHL GM and I and it's going to be coming
(11:56):
here in a bit if it hasn't already, and you
don't need to share with us if it has. But
say I asked you to to kind of sell yourself
to me. What if I drafted you? What what am I?
What type of player am I going to get out
of you?
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Locker room guy?
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Everything?
Speaker 6 (12:12):
You know?
Speaker 3 (12:12):
What what am I going to get if I if
I take you with one of my selections.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
You're gonna get a guy that just plays winning hockey,
just willing to do anything to win, can play up
and down the lineup, any role.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
In the locker room.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
Super positive, super hard working guy, and just someone that
wants nothing more than to win.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
That's what I would say.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Okay, there you go. We like that answer.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
And Aiden my last question for you is this, who
would be the biggest influence on your life right now
or in the past that's got you to where you
are right now?
Speaker 5 (13:01):
I mean, obviously, my parents have been huge influences on me.
I mean countless sacrifices just what wouldn't be here without them?
But uh, I also I've been lucky enough to have
a lot of really good coaches in my life that
have been really big mentors for me.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
One of them, you know, coached me from when I
was eight years old.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
Tom eleven years old, and I still talk to him
to this day.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
He's been really big for me.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
You know.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
He taught me a lot I know about the game,
pretty much everything I know about the game, but also
just life. There's lots of life lessons that, uh, I
think I'll never forget. So his name's Jeremy Doda. He
coached me in California. Okay, so I think he was
probably one of the biggest influences of my career and
why I'm here for sure.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Okay, Hi, Yeah, well, well, thank you sir. We appreciate that.
Speaker 6 (13:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Oh, man, I'll tell you what. Well, Lance, what do
you think here? I think we got another good one here?
What do you think?
Speaker 6 (14:05):
Man?
Speaker 3 (14:06):
I'm I'm just you know, enamored with this young player here.
I think that Man, I don't know, I don't know
how he got picked over last season, but you know
it's it's behind him, and uh, you know, I only
wish you the best as far as the rest of
the season goes, and uh, you know, as far as
(14:28):
this summer goes. And I can't wait to see you
thank you know, in the blue and Yellow coming up.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Thank you guys, thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Yeah, yeah, man, we really appreciate that for sure. And
then and yes, be looking forward to seeing you in
the Blue and yellow, that's for sure next year. And
and I can't wait to see what the future holds
for you Aiden. Now, we really appreciate you hopping on
here man, Thank you very.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Much of course. Yeah, of course, thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Awesome, awesome, awesome, Thank you Lance for all that you
do here Prospect.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Yeah, yeah, no problem.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
All right, I'm
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Your co host Ron Steel Flyers and this is the
latest episode of Prospect Watch and we will catch you
all on the next one.
