Speaker 1 (00:00):
So this is really powerful. So how much time do
you spend doing the thing that you need to do
and how much time do you spend worrying about what
is the right thing for you to do a lot
of people you know spout off that, oh, you need
to let go and stop worrying and work harder and
have faith in the process. All these There's lots of
(00:20):
different ways to do it. I like to approach it
from a very practical standpoint. If you have X number
of hours in the day, and the amount of time
that you devote to worrying is the amount of time
that you're not spend doing something else. And so I
have a friend who he has some self loathing issues,
(00:44):
and he said that he actually schedules time. He's like, look,
I have a wife and kids, and I have shit
to do, and I have to keep the babies alive.
And so every once in a while, I just set
a timer and I sit down in a chair for
ten year fifteen minutes, and I go, okay, like you
can you can indulge in self loathing. This is your opportunity.
(01:07):
And see, you know, he sits there and he goes
you piece of shit, You lazy motherfucker, Like why, Like
you don't know how to do anything, You're terrible at this.
And then the timer goes off and he goes, Okay, great,
that was nice. Man. I wish I could do that
for more time, but I'm not allowed. I'm just not
(01:28):
allowed to hate myself for any longer. Unfortunately, I'd really
like to keep indulging in self loathing. But this is
just not, you know, responsible for me to be spending
my time doing this. I have other things that I
need to do. And so most of the time we
think of our worries about what to do as a
(01:50):
necessary step in the process, right because I have to plan,
and it's very difficult for people to differentiate between planning
and where usually, And so I pose the question to you,
what would it look like if you spent this week
(02:10):
basically just spending less time planning so that you could
do more. So here's what all of you need to
do if you are struggling with a place where you
are scared of putting yourself out there, is take a
piece of paper and make two little boxes or two
big boxes, and in one box you are going to
(02:36):
write all of the ideas that you are actually scared
of putting out there, and in the other box, you
were going to write all of the ideas that you
are not scared of putting out there, and then you're
just going to do all the ones that you're not
scared of. This is so powerful because again we're trying
(03:02):
to Unbuttleneck and a lot of times what it is
is there's like a set of things that you're afraid
to do, and there's a set of things that you're
just fine with. And if you just go faster on
the things that you're just fine with, you're going to
be fine. And and yes, you can work on those
other places where you're having concerns, but it's it's just
(03:23):
personal growth. That's not that's not business. You know that
that's personal growth, that's not results. I often say like,
don't make your weaknesses your day job, meaning like you
should you should work on your weaknesses the way you
go to the gym to lift yourself up, But that
(03:44):
doesn't mean that you make the gym your job, right, Like,
like most people, the gym isn't their job. The gym
is something that they go to for extracurricular work to
improve themselves. And so we often have a lot of
true differentiating with this, and yes, business definitely requires personal growth,
(04:06):
but you want to find all the places where you
can take action as quickly as possible and do that.
So does that concept? Do you think there's enough in
the I'm Not Afraid box that you could just do
those ones? If you'd like to build your life and
business with me, go to the link below or go
