Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, the way humans operate is when they get more uncertain,
and that can come from losses, right, It can come
from literally losing fights. It can come from not reaching
a goal. It can come from realizing that some element
of the goal accomplishment process was invalid. All of that
(00:20):
makes somebody become more uncertain and ruminate more because they
don't trust their decision making capacity. And when you don't
trust your decision making capacity, then you take longer to
ask the question because you're doubting your own decision making capacity.
You're doubting your own capacity to get it done, and
(00:44):
because you feel like there's less capacity, you feel like
you have to worry more about where you put that capacity. Right, Oh,
if I'm only a little bit accomplished, then I'd better
be very careful with what I do next, because you know,
like I might not be able to get it done
and there's not much of me here to get it
(01:05):
done with, and so I've got to be very careful,
and so I've got to worry about this. And there's
elements of truth in those concepts, but the issue is
that it slows us down to a point that it
doesn't allow us to execute in the way that would
get us the success that we want. And as not
necessarily in business, this can be in life everywhere. And
(01:27):
so the most powerful thing you could do, I think
is exactly what you started with, which is learning how
to do possible things, learning how to focus on possible things,
because it turns you into a winner, and winners want
to win more and more importantly, winners let go of
(01:48):
those worries. Winners let go of that indecisiveness. They start
to feel the confidence that allows them to just say
the thing that they are sure that they want to say.
And if you were in your confidence, in your comfort,
in your ease, in your certainty of status and accomplishment,
you would have felt a sense of ease around it.
(02:10):
But because you're in this state of worry, because you're
in this state of concern, you feel more uncertain and
so you feel like you need to touch on more
variables because the risk of not getting it right is higher,
and so it draws out the process. Does that concept
make sense?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yes, I don't think it's only uncertainty. It's the controversy
or is the phenomena that okay, people try to reach
for unrealistic calls They don't reach them, This causes them suffering.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
But what I'm getting at is the solution to it
is this form of type concise successes, and then your
brain's response to that is being able to create tight
concise questions and tight concise answers that help you navigate faster.
(03:07):
I'm saying, if we get you into a different mental state,
you'll probably start getting the results that you want in life.
And the way to get you into that mental state
is through stacking these wins. Just like you brought up
the philosophies that I talk about that I share around this,
which is focus less on doing the impossible and learn
how to do possible things. And this concept of Jordan
(03:32):
Peterson with the Lobsters, where it's like, if you lose
a bunch of fights, then you start to not even
take things on, You start to feel doubts, you start
to do less and adapt to a life of less.
The way to fix that isn't to go take on
the biggest fight. The way to fix it is to
(03:53):
start picking winnable fights. And so I really think that's
all it is for you, is you're at a stage
of learning to choose the actions that will build momentum
for you, choose the accomplishments that you can get done
in a way that makes you feel proud so that
you can start going after it again, because you seem
(04:15):
to me like a person who knows how to go
after it, who has gone after it in the past,
and all they're doing is getting into a state of worry,
questioning their accomplishments, questioning their situation, and where some of
the worry is valid and does need to be considered
over time, the more core component is getting you back
(04:38):
into that state of accomplishment, and you can do that
by focusing on what is possible. If you'd like to
