HIV) ed alle complicanze della terapia antiretrovirale (HAART). Inoltre, è specializzato nella valutazione di marker di adiposità viscerale cardiaca, mediante la determinazione ecocardiografica dello spessore del tessuto adiposo epicardico nei soggetti con lipodistrofia da farmaci antiretrovirali e in quelli affetti da obesità e sindrome metabolica. E' autore di più di 200 pubblicazioni scientifiche e di quattro libri sulle complicanze cardiovascolari della malattia da HIV (h index=54).
