oh man. Okay, so I want to control I want
(01:27):
to tell you something. It's got a best by date
of twelve oh two, twenty twenty three. I had nothing
to do with it, nothing, okay, because we've had old beers.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Before, we've had we've had older before, and it didn't
do that.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh buddy.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Matter of fact, it's usually the opposite effect, right, because
it's not as carbonated because it's been sitting around for longer.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Are you nervous about trying this now?
Speaker 2 (01:47):
No, No at all, No, not even a little bit,
not even not even the least.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Okay, well, take a good picture of this thing I
got at this point. Good God, turn off the camera
or turn off the thing.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Here we go now, Alaskan Brewing Company, I would say,
is a brewery that we really enjoy.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
We've had a lot of other beers, probably all of them.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
I was going to celebrate their entire catalog.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yeah, I was looking at their lineup as it. I
feel that is that phone that's in there. It's heavy,
looks like it. I mean I I dumped it, so
I assume it's gonna be I.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Don't get we caught it in times, so all right,
let's check it out real quick.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
So any pallel characteristics of intense hot, intense hot flavor
and aroma company by a medium maltiness, uh and a
body while also being crisp and dry. Now this is
its struck down some hardware here? Are you ready? Yeah?
I was gonna what are youna? Do you're gonna know?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I was head di spaded a little bit, but it's good.
Now here we go, chaers miles and malls.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
A good things. Pick those whiskers in there should be
quite hobby. It is real hobby. So yeah, I got
some awards here and whatnot flavor. It's a blend of
did you say Cascade, Bravo, calypsoes a Summit and Apollo
Hops I did in premium two roll malt especially hops.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yep, I said all of that.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Welcome to the show. Yeah, okay, while I was dealing
with this other thing. So we got a long history
here Alaska beer dot com our beer slash Icy Bay
I p a. I got beer all over my hands.
But uh yeah, look at I mean look at the color.
It looks amazing, looks I love that color, and that
had good head on it. Obviously it's a it's got
you know, some carbonation.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Very well carbonated.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yeah, and it's held on this long. No, I mean,
I don't I don't get any hints of where the
can out of deteriorator or anything like that. The taste
is still there.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
It's there, but it does have a little bit of
like almost like a like a water taste.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
On the end. Yeah, are you picking it up at all?
Maybe we're expecting a little bit something because it has
what sixty something ibused, so you're expecting just a little
bit more. And it is an I p A right, yeah,
I pa, it should have a little but uh yeah,
maybe there was something in there where it's not kicking
us back. Yeah, I don't know. Uh Maybyv's not high though,
(03:53):
right six point two? Yeah, it's pretty low. Yeah, wish
for like an I p A. Yeah. It looks good,
looks good, smell good. Yeah, I mean maybe it's a
flocking little something only in there. Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Maybe it's that glacier fed water.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Maybe it's all over the maybe that's where it all went. Yeah,
six you have abused. This thing should be.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
A little bit more to it, a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
I'm fighting fighting it right now, man.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
But that could be because it was best by two
years ago.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Right.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
You get that sometimes with the beer. Sometimes sometimes they
age nice, sometimes not so much.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Yeah. So. Indian paleols a style of ale originally derived
from the colonial thirst for British rude beers. By initially
brewing the beer to high specific gravities, it could continue
to ferment during the journey to British colonies. Larger amounts
of hops were also added for their preservative properties and
resulting in a golden beer with a hoppy flavor. That's
(04:50):
the history, history behind the beer, now, the history behind
the label. The surfers who ride the waves around Yacuitat
Jactat I think I said an icy bay had to
prepare for all kinds of extremes that come with the
Laska's maritime climate. That can mean air temperatures well below
freezing and water temperature is not too much higher. It's
sometimes called blue face surfing, and it requires a special
(05:10):
breed of adventure to seek out the rugged shorelines that
yield the best breaks. When I saw that, I go
there ain't no damn way anybody surfs.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
I mean, but son of a gun, if you want
the ultnate people wanting to pay the ultimate price, right, So.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
The head that heads still sit there, the head still
see that foam, it's just sitting right on top. Yeah,
I mean it's just hanging there.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
It's almost like, uh, what are those things you used
to make when you're a kid with the water and
the oil, little little bottles.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
You didn't do that.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
And you put a little thing in it the water
and they will always say separate, yeah, and like a
twing House bottle. You never did that.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
In school. Your schools were lame pretty much public schools.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
I went to public schools like a chance.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Sound fancy. I only went to one private school for
like one year.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
That's one more than me one year, buddy.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
They didn't know what to do with me. I was
out of control. That's when I was like after school
watching Chippendale's and uh, you know, tail Spin and all
that kind of I remember that in my head. I
was where That's where I was. It was great shows.
Fourth grade. Yeah, fourth grade, fourth.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Grade, Okay, it was it was a lot.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
It was a freaking it was a lot.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
I was surprised there was any beer left to pour out.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
I was like, and of course, what happens when you
pop one of these beers. You don't have a toweling around,
it's gonna.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
If you had a towel, it wouldn't have happened. No, no, no,
it was so this is this is on you.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Yeah. So I thought about the other day too, when
I went and cracked like an older beer, and I
was like, well, I got my I had like it
just a rag lane, right, yeah, you stay right there
and you.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Stay classy pony.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
I cracked head damn thing, and I was like, if
not a fear, not even not even a little, not
at a wiggle, I didn't care. Look at that thing.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
The last week had a little bit more bite to it. Uh,
kind of living up to the sixty five IBus with
that last week. Uh, pretty good though, I don't mind it.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
We're not going to rate it because again it's two
years old. But all in all, not bad.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Yeah, especially considering it's all over the table. We might
ring out this matte here in a little bit and
do a Matte review.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
I don't know, we'll see what happens. God, now they
have a like you said, they have a ton of
good ton of beers, and we've had most of them.
They do have some seltzers, like Wildness. I actually had
that the other day. It's a cold it's Alaskan cold beer.
We've had the Amber before. The white is really good.
White is good. They have a coal shoe right col
she had with the killer well on the front. Yeah.
I think the only one I haven't had is the
Class five. That's a pale out with the kayaker right there.
(07:36):
And I haven't had Juno juice, but Husky Ipa was
freaking amazing. Now they do have canned cocktails and seltzers too, Okay,
hard seltzers and some mocktails. I guess you want to
call them that Baca Lemonade, chan and Tonic a Mule,
things like that camp Fuel. It's a legendary cocktail there.
Actually they had two of those, but then obviously some
(07:57):
other blends and whatnot. But yeah, dude, you talk about
some good beers, and I'm sitting looking at the mixed packs.
I think that's where I had a couple of their beers.
I bought a mixed back one time. Right now, they
have their mixed camp pack and their Venture pack. Obviously
you get just different. You know, there's different, which is cool.
They didn't stuff one of the in the both of
them get you know, four different beers and in each pack.
(08:17):
And then the Seltzers has a it's a it's a
mixed pack. Yeah, four beers again my favorite, right, you
get four three different bears beers and three uh three each,
so cool stuff. Yeah, but I mean I'll give it
a thumbs up and blew up on me because I
know it's a good beer, like and you can still
taste like it was still good. But something something affected
(08:37):
this beer negative.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Oh yeah, definitely.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
And I blame Total Wine.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Okay, okay, we're not getting sponsored by them.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
That's why I went off. But that I will say this,
and we we've talked about it before. We've we've been
in there before. And then there's beers that have been
sitting for years, you know, and no one clears them out.
They just leave on the shelf. And so when I
saw it, I knew how old it was when I
bought it, and then beers around that same timeframe too,
but I couldn't find a fresh one. But I was like,
I want this beer, right, So I bought it, and
(09:06):
I mean We've been there before, different total wines, and
there's been beers from breweries have been shut down for
a couple of years and we're like, huh, what is this.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
I'll take it, sure, why not old town?
Speaker 1 (09:20):
I'll take this, ye, you know so, But yeah, I'm
we're not rating obviously, but I'm gonna say I'm gonna
give a thumbs up and I will grab another, a
fresh one. But but yeah, it's I haven't had a
bad one yet and that's why this one was getting
the benefit downe And it actually tasted pretty good. It
tasted it tastes was still good.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Yeah, And like I said, the last drink I had
had more of that bitterness I was expecting with with
the other drinks.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
So but all in all, pretty damn good. Have you
ever had beer blow up on you like that? Let
us know, it's pretty awesome.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Yeah, you know, it makes you feel like a school
girl all over again, getting exploded on.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
But hey, guys, is always I'm allan We'll talk to
you later.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
