Speaker 1 (00:01):
What is going on? Everybody? Welcome to strike up your
quick beer reviews with your pounds oun rapidam rapid. Dave Allen,
how's going, buddy man? Freaking phenomenal. I got a nice
cold beer in my hand. The power went out earlier,
this sun's out now, cold craft beer in my hand.
So we have ex Novo Brewing Company mass ascension. I PA.
Look at a can art. Oh yeah, buddy, can's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
This is the flagship I PA coming out of New Corlis,
New Mexico Brewery. Okay, that's all. They have an untapped
six point nine percent alcohol by volume eighty IBus ever
score three point eighty six out of five and untapped
out of nine thirty seven reviews.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
One of those gas station beers, I got what do
they call them? Alsups al up. Yeah, see I thought
there was more in there, so you gotta havefty four
there you go.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, that's fine.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Let me take a picture of it, though, I'll take
up with yours because it looks yours look good.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Nole's brother, those brother Craft Brewing.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Yeah, it looks really good. I do love that canart.
It did jump off the shelf at me. It's the.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
It's like a pixelated right, So it takes you back
to playing Nintendo and Mario Brothers and things like that,
whenever you see something that's kind of got those those
squares on it, right, Very cool, very cool, so you said,
But you also said, this is actually an older beer too, right.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
I having to look at it because I bought it
in February, right, right, so we're already four months past
when I bought it. But yeah, I did see that
it was canned November fourth, twenty twenty four. So nothing
else on the can. Indian Pallel sixteen fluid ounce, six
point nine percent alcohol alcohol by volume.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Drink beer, Do good, drink beer, do good. It just
keeps going, okay, so let's drink beer. Then let's do
mediocre like we always do.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
That sounds a right. Look in my eyes, those IBus
are there. Oh yeah, that smells good, tastes good.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
That's it's been awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
We've had like a straight up IPA, like just a
solid like.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
You know, well, we've had some straight up i pas,
but they've all been low on that IBU count because
they're trying to just like that's the new thing. You
hide what you are apparently why, Like I don't get it,
like just say it's an I p A. Just have
an I p A for the stake, Have an I
p A. Get that bitterness, get that extra flavor, get
that little that kind of sticks around and just hangs
out on your tongue like it's just dancing on my

(02:14):
tongue right now, Just like, hey, yeah, we're having a
little rave in my mouth right now and I'm loving this.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah, drink beer, do good. According to their website, x
Novo Brew, we brew exceptional and world class beer and
use our business as a force for good in Oregon,
New Mexico and beyond. From the grassroots level to the
global initiatives, x Novo is committed to making the world
a better place, one sip at a time. Now they
have an hour story and community impact if you want
to go check that out again Xnovo brew dot com.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
And that's ex yep.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
I'm trying to put trying to find their beer because
usually you can go in there and they'll they'll maybe
give you a little bit more info about the beer. Yeah,
but I just don't it just as beer Archive, I
don't know, I don't really see anything. You got like
to Oh well no, oh, I found it. One sex
No expanded down to New Mexico. They introduced another flagship

(03:06):
ipa mass Ascension in honor of an infamous balloon festival
or a balloon fiesta. That's what the colors. I got
to be fun, right, and it looked like that that
happens in New Mexico annually. This is this clean West
Coast I p A brewed with Simco Mosaic and Centennial
hops with notes of citrus and stone fruit. So you
definitely get the citrus there and you know the fruity
little fruity on the but it's good man. When you

(03:29):
said eighty uh, now I have fifty six IBus did
you say eighty before?

Speaker 2 (03:33):
What it says on here tapped.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
It is supposed to be fruity and hoppy. It's one
of the core series.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Maybe they've kind of brought it down a little bit,
maybe because typically you don't go back and update, especially
since it's the flagship beer. Right, So this is a
beer that.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
They brew year round.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
They always got right, and maybe it's been out for
a few years and they just haven't gone and updated
the IVY. They've kind of caved into the man and
brought the IVY US down but.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
I expect that high the high a IBU for a
West Coast style as well. So it's kind of good
availability on tap year round. Balts is two row and
Crystal fifteen Yeast is Chico. But everything else, like I said,
you know, it's all right there. So yeah, I just
had to go to the website and they usually have
some extra stuff on there.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Now when I'm seeing all the colors and the can
art or whatever, it does remind me because we have
one of those balloon festivals in PLANEO, is it not?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, so never been always kind of wanted
to go. Yeah, I just think it would be something
kind of just hang out, yeah, just be like, hey,
these big as balloons.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Unrelated. But I saw one of those guys that had
like on a lawnmower and a fan belt thing a
goat cart and one of those gliders shoot by out
there one time. I was just hanging out in the
plane of.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I'm sorry, what you know that you ever seen one
of those short circuit in my brain? You said a lawnmower?

Speaker 1 (04:49):
You ever you ever seen a goat cart that's got
the fan on the back like a boat one of
those swamp boats. All right, and then they have like
a canopy that they can go like that and float,
but they get up in the air.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Okay, Okay, I know what you're talking.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
They can get way up.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, okay, I know what you're trying. You you threw
me off because you're like I saw this guy was
a lawn I was all over the place like what
you're like a bit with a big fan. I'm like,
so he's got a riding lawnmower and he's got a
fan that's keeping him cool.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
But he's got to, like you got to get up
in the O zone there, you know what I mean,
up in the right now. Anyways, what do you think
so far? I'm actually enjoying this. U. It's not clear.
It's not completely clear. Some of your I p as
might be a little clear, but it's just a little
foggy in there. The color is beautiful.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
I love the it's got that.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
You should do a good color, just.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Like a like a like golden hue.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
This is Maybe you haven't had a bottle of water
in like four days.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Oh god, come on, come on, come on, you haven't fun?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (05:55):
I didn't interrupt you. Go ahead, I'm just trying to
relate to the people. You're giving the people listening right
now what the people want right if you if you're
watching this on YouTube, Facebook, thanks so much for checking
us out. Also you can if you're hearing the aut
if you're wondering where you can check this audio out.
It's available anywhere you listen to podcasts, Apple, Spotify, Amazon,
bullhorned Bull Alan always says those but yeah, so anyways, Yeah,

(06:17):
he's giving you a nice description of you know, we've.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
All been on like a four day bender before, right,
And you're just like, but you've you've been there before, right, maybe?
And water has it touched your lips?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
I drink more? I think maybe back in the day
where you're just drinking like cokes and beer.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
I had a buddy who got me or he had
like a I don't I don't know if you want
to call the destination wedding. But he had a wedding
at he was he lived out in the country. He
had it out there in the country where his house was,
and it was a full weekend thing. Everybody the wedding was.
The wedding was Saturday night and everyone started getting there Thursday,

(07:04):
Thursday night, okay, And so you get there Thursday night,
you just start drinking. Like when me and my buddy
showed up, Me and the knob we showed up. We
showed up with four dirty thirties. Oh boy, you know,
because it was let's get this party start. And so
you you would, we would drink all night till two
three in the morning. You're waking up at like eight
o'clock in the morning, and my buddy his his mom

(07:25):
was there, you know, she was there, The other moms
were there, and they were fixing breast breakfast for everyone.
So you're sitting there, get some Bacon's makes breast you know,
breastless breaskfast. You're washing down your bacon and eggs with
a beer because you just you know, this is the thing,
and so you know, by the end, that's all you're drinking.

(07:46):
So at a certain point in time, you've just drunk
yourself sober, but all you're drinking is beer. You just
one right after the other.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Nice nice excuse me, Yeah, no, this is a it's
really good. Uh. I'm liked a little bit of fruit
and there is a little it's hanging around in the
back end there, which is nice. Like I said, it's
been a while since we've had like a higher ibu,
you know, a high bitterness. I p A, yeah, And
I didn't realize it was a West Coast I just
saw where West Coast style. I just thought it was

(08:15):
just a regular ip A.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
But yeah, well that's how it was listed here on
on untapped, it's listed as an IPA American ip American.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I A, yeah, this on their website, so maybe they've.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Kind of changed the style of the beer a little bit,
you know, over the years, or because again, you got
twelve thousand check ins on this that's not from this year, right, right,
that's not.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Nice. I wish I wish it showed you on here
when this beer was listed.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
That's one thing I like about Beer Advocate. It'll show
when I joined, It'll show, it'll show when it when
that beer, yeah, was added.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
And like you could go through and if I scrolled
all the way to the bottom of all the reviews,
I could find the first check in on it. Yeah,
but that would take a minute. Yeah, with nine thirty
seven reviews, twelve thousand total check ins, it's going to
be a minute, right, Yeah, it's doing And they're saying
about seventy a months.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Okay, so nice, I'd like to go out there and
check out the tap room or whatnot. There's they got
a couple different locations. They seem to be a pretty
big brewery. So very cool stuff. All right, Well, let's
knock these back and get out of here real quick.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
I'm just doing real quick math here. One hundred and
seventy two months worth of check in.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Oh okay, so.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
This was listened a while ago.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Yeah, I like it.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
I like it a lot.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
I do like the juiciness. Yeah, it's the fruity and
juiciness or whatever combining this. Yeah, it's it's really damn good.
And you know, for a beer that's got a high ibu,
it's actually really good. Like it's got some pretty good
crush ability. You probably want to take your time with it,
let it breathe, and drink it out of a proper glass.
But all in all, this is a massive thumbs up

(09:57):
for me. What's the after score on the until.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Three point eighty six, I'm probably at like a three
seven five. I'm just a little bit under that.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, I really like it though, Yeah, I really like it.
I was gonna say three seven five as well. And
then when you said three six. Well, maybe I'll give
me a little extra extra credit, you know, four point Oh,
but I.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Was like, it's three. It's a solid it's a solid beer.
It's really good. Uh, it's it's one of those beers
that I mean. I don't say this every time, but
when I say it, I mean it. Not only is
it good, but it's good for you. So and that's
just science. You can't argue with that. So, have you
guys had mass ascension from ex Novo Brewing? Let us know,

(10:36):
you know, maybe maybe you had the very first time
they had it. Oh, I don't know, it's probably let
us know it was magical. Let us know, was this
your first beer you ever drank? I don't know. You
have to tell me. But heyay, I think so much.
