Allen and RD try Snörkel, a farmhouse ale by Jester King.

From Untappd:
"The tide has returned.

Snorkel is a dry, refreshing farmhouse ale brewed with Texas well water, pilsner malt, wheat, and a delicate blend of noble hops. Post fermentation, we add 60 pounds of fresh oyster mushrooms and a whisper of alderwood-smoked sea salt. Earthy, briny, and impossibly drinkable, Snorkel is as much a beer as it is a conversation starter.

Soft and savory with gentle umami and a kiss of salinity, it’s our tribute to the intersection of land and sea. Inspired by the Gose tradition but rooted in the farmhouse brewing philosophy, Snorkel drinks light and clean while offering something just left of center.

Pairs well with good food, strange friends, and any occasion that calls for something unexpected.

4.3% ABV"

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Snorkel is a dry, refreshing farmhouse ale brewed with Texas
well water pills and your malt wet and a delicate
blend of Noble hops. Post fermentation, we had sixty pounds
of fresh oyster mushrooms and a whisper.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Of all her would smoke sea salt, earthy brittany and
impossibly drinkable. Snorkel is as much beer as it is
a constant conversation starter, soft and savory with gentle youmani
and a kiss of salinity.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
It's our tribute to the intersection of land and sea.
Inspired by the ghost tradition. By rooted in the farmhouse
brewing philosophy, Snorkel drinks light and clean while offering something
just left to center. Pairs well with good food, strange friends,
and any occasion that calls for something unexpected.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
All right, so this thing is absurd, over carbonated. I'm
trying to see if it's something else. Something going on here.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
I'm curious is because they're talking about how this is
light and clean, super refreshing, but then but then.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Also says it's in the ghost tradition, and that's that's
a sour.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, well, what's a what's a farmhouse?

Speaker 1 (02:06):
There's nothing light and refreshing about a sour, right.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
We had a good one last week though, Oh yeah,
they didn't posted it yet because you know, yeah what
I don't remember that one. We had a sour BlackBerry
blueberries Martinhouse one.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Snorkel.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
When I saw it, I was like, oh sweet, I
was at so I got this from a local bottle
bottle shop here in Kelton, Texas. Long Star Beverages over
there off a Josie and Old then Frankfurt. Yeah, Old
then Josie and Frankfort anyhow s next twenty four Fitness
they closed down a CVS.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
I guess people are stealing too much it out of there, so.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
It curves gym or as you said, twenty four fit,
the purple one.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
What's the purple one crunch? Now that's blue.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I think Planet Fitness Lane Fit there you go.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Which actually, really, you know what, dude, I really wanted
to join a Planet Fitness because they got cool amenities,
like they got the hydro massageer thing and stuff like that, right,
and you mostly don't have any in there or something
like that, but you have.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
To have like a black membership. You pay a little
bit extra.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
That's fine, I mean it's still reasonable, like you know,
but I did. It was like twenty bucks a month.
So I'm across the street from them. At least they had
a nice Uh.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
When you go into heated things, a heated box, it's.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
It called sauna dry sauna Oka. He's like, here's the
son I goes the dry son and wet SONA yea.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
I used to back in the back when I did
the UH marathon and all that I had a membership,
had a plane of fitness. Yeah, and I didn't have
any problems with it.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah they have then.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Alert Never heard it go off once? Yeah, never heard
it go off one. I mean most of times they don't.
People don't go there. They won't do it, even in
my gym, Like there's not their cheers, real quick good
thing cheers.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Do you find people out there in this super super
bubbly beer.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Yeah, that's it goes. I could smell it when I go.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
To bubblic I put it when it started phoning up
my freaking mouth.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah, but you're having issues right now. We're gonna peel
back the curtain a little bit. But before we had this,
you were finishing off the last bed that we had
for a Patreon video and you take a drink and
you just have to sit there for a minute for
you could swallow it, which was weird, like.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
I've been having So I was trying to look up
stuff about like this, how this one screwed me up?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Right?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
I was sitting there and trying. I was looking up
stuff on how to like chug beer right where you take.
What you do is you breathe all the air, you
exhale all the air system and then you kind of
you know, and then yeah, yeah, well I started doing that.
But then it's like I think about it. I think
about it when I drink water, when I drink anything.
Now I'm like, I'm breathing out, I'm breathing in. I'm like,
I'm gonna freaking drown.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Well have you seen those guys on like TikTok and
stuff that are like speed shuggers. Yeah, and that's what
they do, Like they'll they'll take It's like, oh, do
do blue and red gatorade? So the guy gets our
blue and red gatorade and pours it in there perfectly,
and it's all the way to the very top of
the glass, like there's no room for anything else. And
then you see him he goes, yeah, and just.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Downs it quicker than your mother downs a oh boy strong?
Oh you say shlong.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Right, Well, I mean you can say the other word too.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Yeah, but it's not as it's not as vulgar.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
So anyways, yeah, I was like, and so I was
trying to do that, and I was like, you know what,
I just seed chuck beer when I'm thirsty. Because when
I'm thirsty, it doesn't matter. Like when I'm like out
working the yard and stuff like that, I don't think
about shit. I just in there starts slamming Miller's, drilling
Miller's on the weekend, is what I That's my hobby.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
I always think of when when I'm chugging the beer
or getting ready to chug a beer, I always think of.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
I'm sitting and breathing in as I'm going next to it.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
I always think of super Troopers, whereas you know they're
they're chugging the server's like, open up the throat, cut
the ball. I just always that's all every time.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
And don't forget the cup the ball.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Yeah, every time I chug a beer that yeah, yeah,
I don't know. And then I always relax the throat
and open it up.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
You know. It's a remind, it's a gentle reminder.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Can't I can't ever do that. I don't know, I
can't do that. So the beer snorkel. You ever been
snorkeling in Jamaica? You've been to Mexican snorkle.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, in Jamaica.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, how was it?

Speaker 1 (06:16):
It was good?

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yeah, I did in Mexico and I was like, all right,
well golf America, excuse me.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
So I was well back then it was, but.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
I remember getting it. I was like, I was like,
all right, screw it, we can go do this if
you want. She's yeah, I want to go do it.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Like you don't even like doing like snorkl you don't
even get in the water. I go there's no ground,
you can't step on the bottle. And she's like what
And so she's hold on to me the whole freaking time.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
We had like floaties like we had.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
We had life preservers on.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
We have a life preserve. We did have a vest on.
We had just like a like a belt.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Yeah, no, we had a we had a full.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
On that you kind of floated on. And they took
us out there a ways.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, we were out.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
We're out there Sandals resorts we were staying at.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
I heard samdals.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Right.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
You ever seen the Hell's that? Oh my god, here
we go again, couples retreat. You've seen that? You should
watch that. It's funny.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
No, because I accidentally watched Vacation Friends because I thought
that's what you told me to watch.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
And I keep telling you to keep telling you about
John Cena.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Well, whenever you watch the other one, that give me
a call. I'll watch you, but you gotta tell me
that you're you gotta tell me that you've seen it,
so then I know you saw.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
I'll send you. I'll send you a picture of me
watching it.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
And then i'll and then maybe I'll think about watching.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
I always watch the crap you tell me to watch.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
It's not crap.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
It's all right, it's funny, but it's it's like the
fact that you described it as it's all right.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
It is all right. It's not a masterpiece. We're not
talking about you know. I don't know. I can't even
think of a really good It's not Grandma's Boy, you
know what I mean? What Empire Records?

Speaker 1 (07:43):
God damn the man Happy Gilmore Happy to get more
too soon.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
It's coming out soon. Wait, it's recommending like crazy on Netflix. Dude,
I got it.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
It's you can't recommend it. It's not out yet.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
No, no, no, recommend the first one? Okay, Yeah, Virginia vin
it out there on that lawn chair and Happy's trying it.
There's a happy space, happy spot or whatever, happy place,
happy place, Yeah, happy place. So we went out there
and I was like, I remember semi freaking out, but
I can't.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
I keep it together.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
I stay calm under strenuous circumstances. But we're in the
middle of the ocean and I'm like looking around, I'm
I can't see the ground that well, I can't really see.
I see in the distance for a while, but it
gets kind of dark. This asshole cuts a bag of bait,
and those in the water, these little dishes come out
of nowhere, right.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
I go, what do you do that for? I that
for asshole? Yeah, so you can see the fishes. I go,
those who attract the big fishes they got there's a
cave over there. Go oh yeah, you think I'm gonna
go on.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
A cave in a cave?

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Oh so yeah. It was like that. And then Lizzie's
screaming the whole time. Oh my god, you know whatever,
overreact about everything.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Just like we had disposable cameras, the waterproof cameras and whatnot,
so everything was like.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
A shot in nineteen seventy four. They're covered in like
plastic and yeah, yeah, had the rubber band, little bracelet,
whatever you can put it on. Yeah, yep.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
That's why the whole Master's trip looked like it was
shot in like nineteen eighty four, you know.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
What I mean, Like, because that's all we had. We stopped.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
We we got an uber to the place, and none
of brought a camera. You can't bring your cellphone in there.
And so we go and we're like, we gotta stop somewhere.
We stopped like an uh, what the right aid out there?
And and Augusta Georgia and four of us by they
were effing expensive, And I'm like, why the hell they don't.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
They was sitting there hey day.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
And just because they've cornered the market out there supplying demand, mother.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Son of it that is too bubbly.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Wow, it's not bad. It's not bad anyways.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, Snorklne's cool. I guess. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
We did sailing though too.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
You a sailor, No, And.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
So we get out there out there like Tommy boy,
you're out there, sandals resort, everything's covered right.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Oh yeah, it's all inclusive.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
That's why I was bringing up that, because there's someone's
bashing on sandals and then one of the dudes like,
I don't know why it's bashing on sandals, sandals rocks.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
We had a blast out there. You know, they had
like shacks that you know, they had the bar set
up everywhere, all you can drink, all you can eat too.
You just show up to the shack and like they
had stuff that's on the menu. But they're like, hey,
there's something that's not on the menu. You want it,
let us know. I'm like, hey, like, can you make
grilled cheese sandwich? He goes, I got you you Uncle Danny.
But dude, I hat so much jerk chicken though too.

(10:22):
While we were there, Like you're not much for.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Any type of anything else. You're kind of a dried
chicken guy.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Jerk chicken. Oh dude, I got down there. I had
had the one day.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
I was like, hey, buddy, he saw something that jerk
chicken on a grilled cheese sandwich.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
He goes, I got you Jamaica.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
But we went sailing and so we're there and the guys,
you know, he's showing us the boat. It's me and
the knob and uh, he's shown us. He's like, here's
here's how you do this. And that the knob goes,
I got it. Don't worry he goes, I was.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
I was in the uh Kevin, No, what's starboard?

Speaker 1 (11:02):
I'm drawing a blank on front of.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
The back of the boat, on top of the railing.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
The mill of the cooler, the armed forces that's in
the water.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
The Navy, he goes, I was in the navy. The
runner he wasn't, and he goes, I got it.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Don't worry about that. I was in the Navy. And
look at him. I go, huh. And so the guy's like, oh, okay,
so you know what you do. And he's like, yeah,
I got this.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
And so we're out there and we're going and he's like, hey,
what what do we do?

Speaker 1 (11:36):
I was like, I don't know, man, you're in the navy,
and I just sat back and I'm just drinking.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
I don't know what I'm doing the whole time in
the navy.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
And he starts scriping at me. He's like, you weren't
paying attention, like you told him you had it. You're
in the navy, goes you know, I wasn't in the navy.
I go, I assumed you knew what you were doing.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Then keep your whore mouth shut right.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
And so we're going he's like, look at He's like, look,
I'm just trying to steer us towards Cuba.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
And I'm like, what, who wants to go to Cuba?

Speaker 1 (12:03):
And so we're going out one way and the.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Saying is kind of far right in the kind of.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Far yeah, I'm pretty sure it is.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
And then the guys on the shore and we could
I can hear him yelling and waving his arms, and
I look at it and go, hey, I don't think
we're doing we're supposed to be doing.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
He goes, I don't care, it's our boat.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Now the pirate hats on and ship you fly, the
fly the colors.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
The next thing I know, I see the guy. He's
just swimming out. No ship do he swim out to us?

Speaker 2 (12:30):
And he just.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Started he starts yelling. I go, hey, I don't know
what I'm doing, but mister the naval officer here knows
what he's doing. Talk to him. Yeah, and sat back
and just kept there.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I'd watch your.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Tone too, because I mean, apparently if he's in the navy,
he knows people that are in the and we don't
want this kind of bullshit. You know, we're trying to
keep peace out here. Sink this fucking boat.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Hey, I.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
Was trying to listen to the guy I didn't want
to die.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Hey. Did you go down to Austin or did you
go to San Antonio or wherever? When you went did
your little brewery trip and then you you went south
for something. My my brewery trip was in Louisiana. No,
you went south though, right w you went past Waco.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
I'm pretty sure you.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Oh, maybe you're just talking about going south and going
to a couple of breweries down there. Yeah, for some reason,
I thought you went south. You were talking about going
to Houston and hitting up those little local breweries and
stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Okay, never mind, Well I went to there was one time.
This was a few years ago. I went to Waco
last summer.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Yeah, and just I didn't go to any breweries though.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
I just grabbed some beer while I was there, because
I was on a trip with the kiddo. I went to.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
I've been on Austin forever.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
I can't remember where I went because I went to
I went to go.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
To go visit your brother San Antonio or anything.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
I did that when he was in the Air Force.
But we didn't go We didn't go on any breweries.
I went to some dive bar called the Afterburner next
to my hotel.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
That was a good time I went to in San Antonio.
My favorite one is off the It's a dirty Murphy's
off the River.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
I've been there a few times. I've been there a
few times. You get a proper glass a guinness there.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Yeah, yeah, they pour it nice or right.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
But uh, anyways, so you're not having a bubble You're
not having a bubble problem here with this.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
I mean it is bebbly. Yeah, I mean, this thing
is crazy.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
It's a it's it's it's definitely I don't get where
they're talking about how.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
It's oysters and mushrooms.

Speaker 4 (14:19):
No, no, I mean I get that, but like light clean,
like it is kind of like clean.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
But but but you can definitely tell it is kind
of like the goes like it's got that it's not sour,
but it's got that tartness that tartner. Yeah, that's what.
That's what. That's the word I'm looking for tartness to it.
It's not bad, it's just interesting. I think it's got
an average score three point seven to seven. They got
a good following though, I don't know. And that's out

(14:46):
a twelve thousand, five and thirty seven rating.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
They got a hell of a following out there.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Now, this has been around for a while because they're
they're only averaging fourteen check ins a month, so this
beer has been around for a minute. I don't know
that I'm close to that three point seven to seven.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Personally, I'm gonna be on the north side of the
midway mark, though I'm going to give it a I'm
gonna give it a little bit more than that the
half mark.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
I I think I'm probably sitting at I mean, for me,
I'm kind of let me take it, let me finish it.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Finish that in your thought, Jesus Christ. For me, it's bubble.
I'm gonna do three. I think it's in the middle,
and I actually really enjoy the taste it's but for me,
it's the bubbles. The carbonation's really getting me. But I
love the can. The can art's getting an extra bump.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
I love the canon.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
It's in Texas bump.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
I mean it's in Austin almost take point Boston, Boston, Texas.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Like I said, I haven't be down Austin A long time.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Are we still keeping it weird? I don't know. It's
like I remember, bumper stickers used to be all over.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
You flying Austin. All the shirts are in the airport
and stuff I had.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
At least I'll be here all over the place.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
I had deliver a golf cart down there. Once I
drove down there, turn.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Around, drove a golf cart down there, that's down there.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
And then I turned around and came right back.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Have even stay without the golf cart? Do you walk back?

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Dummy? I delivered, delivered, didn't drive.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
I think I'm a little bit lower than you. I
think I'm like a two seven five on this. Yeah,
it's all.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Right, give me some negative. It's just.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Not my thing, not my bag.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
It's supposed to be a farmhouse. Ol said, it goes
it's farmhouse al brew.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
It says farmhouse sales slash seas.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Yeah, uh, smoked sea salt. You definitely have sea salt.
I don't know if it's smoked. Oyster mushrooms I don't
know about.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I don't even know what that is.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
I'm not really getting I don't know what an oyster
mushroom is. Okay, so you're putting fake things in.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
I'm what looks like they're edible mushrooms. Don't they're for
their delicate, savory flavor and meaty texture.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
I'm just it's got a little bit of I'm not
I'm not a big sour guy. But again, it's not sour.
It's got a little bit of that tartness to it.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
I don't know. It's it's alright, are.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
You supposed to be quick beer reviews?

Speaker 3 (17:11):
It's gonna talk about this is gonna be a beer
review and snorkel talk or vacation.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Talk like snorkels.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Yeah, Josh Young on TV, all right, cool throws out

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
