Speaker 1 (00:01):
What is going on?
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Everybody, welcome to strike up your quick beer reviews of
your pals, Allen and RAPPI Dave.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
Dave, I'm a limp brisket. Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
We also are going to talk a little bit about
the brew because that's where I got this beer from.
This is Oh Mama Sticks. It's a collab with Brewing.
Was a Voodoo Brewing, Voodoo Brewing, Castle Hills, Lewisville, Carrollton, Texas.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
That's one of their. It's a franchise.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
But uh yeah, Golden Wader, Oh Mama renegadees on there.
Look at his can.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
The can is pretty cool. Yeah, that's pretty so I
like it.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
I like it a lot, just to let's go ahead.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
A Voodoo Brewing is based in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where the
beer is produced. Franchises exists across the USA, but the
production facility is in Meadville, so they brew all the
beer there in Meadville and they ship it out to
all their locations. This particular one is you know, yeah,
sometimes let's see here. O Mama is off the song Renegade,
(00:58):
which is confused for you. It was in uh Billy Madison,
but Omama is a traditional golden American longer brewed for
the Steel City in collaboration with American rock band Sticks.
The inspiration for the name and artwork come from the
Sticks hit song Renegade, which is commonly played at Heines
Field as an anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the
third quarter. This comes in at six percent alcohol by volume.
(01:21):
It's got n A for the ibu's. It's got an
average score three point six y four out of seven
four and twenty nine ratings.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
So swig and you can you can tell me about
the spot.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Chere's good things right look in my eyes.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Huh. It's kind an interesting aftertas American Longer golden lager.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Okay, well it says American right here? Yeah, all right, yo, eh,
what's wrong?
Speaker 1 (02:02):
The bubble?
Speaker 3 (02:03):
The bubble's got you.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I was like I was going to force the so
I forced. I forced the bubble down before and it
needs the problems. But yeah, So this thing is gorgeous, golden,
a little bit of a little.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Bit of haze. I mean, it's got some it's clear,
but there's a slight.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Just it's a darker color to almost like a I
almost want to say it's almost like an apple juice color exactly.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Yeah, you know it's good, good carbonation too.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
As I was porn, I gave him I want a
hard poor and then by the time I got to
the next one, you know, but obviously it was fine.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
But yeah, let's see if we get it.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, it's sudden up a little bit, but uh, yeah,
I haven't had a golden in a while. Yeah, I
rolled out there. So this one's located. This is Voodoo
Brewing franchise. Like I said, there's there's a couple of
the Metroplex. Actually, funny thing is I can actually tell
you like a handful of them in the Metropleux so Lewisville, Plano,
Grand Prairie, Oh no, on that Grand Prairie. And then
they're opening one up and Prosper right, So they're all
(03:11):
sell the same beer. They sling Voodoo Brewing beer. They'll
have some local offerings, some na options as well, and
then they what makes them unique is their kitchen, so
they kind of they handle each location does their own
thing for the kitchen. And this one is Mediterranean food.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
They said, the Plano one was Cajun and then the
one up north in prosper is going to be Korean barbecue.
So but the drink menu there, they got pretty good stuff,
like it's a lot.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
They had a lot of I p as.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
So we were kind of running through it and I
was like, okay, like what do you want to go?
We're going t to be I want to five or
six sample fight flight. Yeah, and the big pores they
were like five four or five ounces they were they
were pretty big glasses.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
So Lizzie and I were sharing them, kind of going
down the list.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
And but the they had an American light which tastes
like Miller, Like, okay, it was freakin delicious.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
It was tasty, you know.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
And so anyways, I wrote down the whole thing and
it was not really cool spot. It's in where some
apartments are, Like I was telling Allan, It's like, so
there's apartments these days. And then on the base floor
they they built in eateries, breweries, dry cleaners, all kinds
of stuff like that. Business businesses there you go and
they're on the bottom floor. Cool little parking garage right
there for the shopping the shops, and so that was it.
(04:26):
And so we parked right there, walked right right across
through a flower bed because I didn't go the right way.
But uh yeah, really cool, really nice.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
It's quite big.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
I mean it was a pretty damn big place for
being a brewery, especially in like one of those areas
or whatever. I mean, I don't know, thirty tables and
some of their real long ass tables and had some
barrels there too, and some you know. So it was
really cool. I like the I like the the way
it looks big TVs. So and uh, like I said,
good good vibes. Was real chill, that had some music going.
(04:59):
They had the baseball game on. Dodgers were still playing
that late. It was only of that tornado warning or what.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
It was like, yeah, let's get out of the house.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
At first she said we're not going anywhere, and then
all of a sudden she's like, yeah, let's go have
a beer.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah, I mean if Trendo's come in, I want to
go have a beer.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Yeah. I mean.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Sit there and wait for a tornado. That sounds lame, lame,
I mean we'll be fine. But yeah, really cool place.
And like I said, I had all the beers. I
think Lizzie says she didn't like one of them. It
was the session West Coast.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
I p a she like that one, and so that
one of the owners like, yeah, a lot of people
don't like session beers, and like, I like session beers.
It don't make no different to me, you know. But
if it's a taste or something like that, she's like, yeah,
I just didn't like the taste. But she checked all
the other boxes. I'm trying to think of all the
beers that I had. I had them, actually did wrote
them down.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
I bet you I got them.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
You made the comment earlier that you did saw a
bold claim, very bold claim. Oh no claim, I took
the receipt. I didn't have the I bet you I
got her here, hold on, old on. I went right
by and so he had some beers. But yeah, and
here's the thing with this. Don't get this confused with
(06:05):
like the Voodoo Ranger beers, because that's not the same
same place. That's New Belgium, right, that's Belgium.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
But I thought I thought I was like Voodoo Brewn.
I didn't ask either, because I was like, oh, just
what I did ask about the whole FND because there's
multiple ones and now this one's down the street, and uh,
but yeah, it's not part of Voodoo, the Voodoo Ranger series,
like you said, was like that's New Belgium. Yeah, but uh,
I mean it's pretty tasty. I don't mind this at all,
(06:32):
and I like, I like when do.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Collapse with bands and stuff. I don't know why, I
just do.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Like Phantom and the Deaf Tones.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
We have the Three eleven, n A, we have the
Deaf Tones, n A. Druggers got a few that they
with the Deaf Tones. Uh, there's there's a Pantera one
out there. Uh, there's a lot of different ones out
there for sure.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
But I don't know. It's just fun for me.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
I don't know, because like you were talking, you asked
the guy like, hey, what do you have for beer
to go? And he goes, well, type of styleue like,
and you.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Told him, look, we don't buy beer based off of
styles me.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
We buy beer off.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
A cannar like and completely.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
There will be times when like.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
A specific type of a beer so you know, comes out.
We want to go get that right. But if I'm
walking down the beer aisle, I'm looking for what catches my.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Eye jumps off the shelf.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yeah, yep, that's all I ended up with that bunny
Chainsaw beer or whatever, the big old pink bunny chainsaw.
He came with a comic Oka scan it and read
it while you're having the beer. Okay, yeah, you're right,
I mean just and of course this one's cool. I
mean I liked it that and of course I grabbed it.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Goes what about this? I go, that's fine with me.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
And of course you're like, yeah, it's a tall Boy's like, yeah,
it's a nineteen point two. Yeah, I go, it's a
little bit bigger than a tall boy. So but uh yeah,
really nice folks, and obviously a good beer. Like you
see how clear it's getting now right when it was
all in there, boy, it was it was rather dark.
It does.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
It reminds me of apple juice, It really does. Like
the color wise, no, not the taste. It tastes definitely
a golden Logger. It's got that little bit of a
of a different aftertastes to do with your Golden Laggers
versus your normal traditional loggers.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
More of just like.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
A a stiff taste, just more of a like, hey
I'm here, right, eh wen.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
It's just kind of mellow in the end.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Nothing crazy, yeah, a little bit of you know that
refreshingness up front, a little bit of flavor, and then
just kind of ends just a little bit of nothing,
you know. I mean it's not like I don't like
you know, like when you talk like that, like with
the aftertaste sometimes with a blonde, you know, the blondes. Yeah,
not quite the blonde after taste, but those are the
ones I know for sure.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Oh yeah, yeah, you know when you've had a blonde.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yeah, there's a little there's a little something.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
There's something there.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, it's true to style as far as I'm concerned.
It looks good, smells good, checks boxes. This is how
it's supposed to look, smell good, mouthfeel. It's a pretty
good little beer. And it's getting little bit warm out here.
So I could see myself a little bit more of
these the future and.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
It goes down really smooth, and I mean coming in
at what did I say, it was six percent? Yeah,
that's that's not bad at all. You can you can
knock back a few of these and just be fine.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Absolutely so. Yeah, cool place, cool beer.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Obviously I'll be heading back because it's really close to
my house and there's a right next door to it
is a coal fire.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Pizza or something like that. Coal what do they call it?
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Cole stove cold coal eleven called pizza anyways, I bet
you it's got good and undercarriage, you know. So yeah,
pop over there and give me a pizza, a piece
of pizza, and then uh, I'm gonna roll over there
and got me some more beer because there is more
to try. Like I said, I went through six of them.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Tell me did they have on?
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Did they have there? They had a Oh you sure
you have that?
Speaker 2 (09:51):
I did take a picture of this, okay, Oh damn it,
it's a video anyway. So they got one two, three, four, five, six, six, twelve, eighteen, nineteen,
twenty twenty one. Okay, but they had ran out of
a couple. That's still a pretty good offering. Yeah, you know,
ranging from Southern Southern Hemisphere IPA, which is a I
(10:13):
couldn't get the blossom blossoming down under because they had
ran out of that. But I had Amber Waves, which
was really good logger time.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Oh man.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
There was one that I was like, this is right
up your alley. I can't even think of the name
of killer pills now. I think I had a a squirrel,
a thunder lizard.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
I'd buy it just for the name lizard.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
It was an imperial nine point two percent Okay, yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Right, thunder Lizard.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Hell yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
So I mean, I think you'd like this place, and
a lot of people would too. It's real and it's
not uh you know, it's it's a real I think
it's kind of an upscale, kind of a joint.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Okay, you know what I mean. It's a little bit nice, classy.
It's a bit classy. Should wear a tuxio T shirt.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
When I go at the bare minimal Okay, all right, yeah,
I think that's just gotta be I mean, but yeah,
thumbs up for me. Like I said, I'll be back
and I can't wait to get there.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
There we go. But hey, guys, have you guys been
to video brewing yet?
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Have you had it?
Speaker 4 (11:10):
What's your opinions on sticks? I mean, come on, mister
Roboto Classic Classic. But hey, guys, it's always on Allen.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
We'll talk to you later.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Jesus
