(00:01):
This is amazing media production. Hello, most awesomeone. Thank you so much
for joining me today in the Denof the Quick Playing Small Podcast. I'm

(00:25):
your host, Ayana Angel, andthis is your home for inspired thinking.
It's a place where we get honest, we have honest moments with ourselves,
and hopefully you walk away with somefeel good motivation. All right, let's
get into it. Don't force itnow. It could be a number of

(00:49):
things, including opportunities, relationships,or growth. Pay attention to the feelings
that you feel. Everything has atime, whether you know it or not,
whether you like it or not. When you start getting down on yourself
because you haven't completed the project inthe timeframe that you wanted or achieve the

(01:14):
goal by the desired date, giveyourself a pass. The timing may not
be right and pressure will not makeit better. I can remember wanting this
job at a top yard agency sobad that I was willing to turn my
life upside down to make it work. The hiring manager was demanding from the

(01:38):
start, and I felt this immenseamount of pressure. Something felt like it
was pulling inside of me, butI didn't know exactly why. And I
can remember asking myself if I wasforcing the situation, but because we want

(01:59):
what we want, I quickly shovedthose feelings aside and proceeded with the rapidly
moving process of taking said job.In little under two weeks of giving my
notice at my old company, Iwas sitting at a new desk in a
new role, and in a littleover a year after that, I was

(02:23):
sitting on the unemployment line waiting tocollect the check after being laid off for
the first time in my life fromsaid job. Now I don't regret my
decision because I learned so much.It was my first time being let go
from a job, though, andit felt humiliating initially, but I'd say

(02:47):
maybe after about a month of devastation, I suddenly felt relief. Well,
okay, I'm if I'm really rememberingit correctly. I felt relief in the
moment, but simultaneously I felt humiliatedembarrassed as well. I felt like,
oh, you're saying I'm not goodenough. So I was really able to

(03:12):
lean into those feelings of relief abouta month after post meltdown. No,
I'm just kidding, but post theend, right, I think I felt
relief because I had this weight ofstress on my shoulders all the time.

(03:37):
I felt like I had the weightof the world on my shoulders and it
was nothing but pr We were notlike care in cancer. It wasn't rocket
science. But sometimes those demanding positionscan make you feel like everything is writing
on this and looking back in mygut. I knew that I was seeing

(04:00):
it, but I didn't care becauseI wanted the experience. However, there's
always a price to pay when youforce things. I also learned that it's
okay to take your time. Wheneveryou feel like you're being pressured into a
decision or rushed to say yes orno, or give a conclusion or answer,

(04:24):
be wary. Be wary if notjust the situation, but also the
people involved in the situation. Anyonethat has good intentions for you will not
make you feel intimidated or rushed ina decision making process. I don't trust
now when someone is trying to rushme, because I've learned that the sense

(04:46):
of urgency comes from a place that'susually not good for me. But it's
more than likely something that they wouldrather I not pick up on in the
haste of them pre assuring me tomake this decision, so it might not
be good for me, but itmight be good for them. If it's

(05:09):
good for you, then I feellike you will not need to force it.
It'll just be what's the whole thing. What's meant for you will not
pass you by. What's meant foryou will be what's meant for you is
already yours. Nothing can change that. So lean into that sentiment. The

(05:30):
next time you are faced with whatcould seem like a beneficial opportunity, what
could seem like something you want, but something in your gut feels uneasy on
some level, pay attention. Payattention to your gut. And look,
we're all gonna make those decisions sometimeswhere we disregard our gut and we still

(05:56):
go forward and do the thing anyway. But that's the opportunities for us to
learn, for us to learn,so we can remember what those feelings were
that we felt and be able toidentify it in the future and know,
Okay, this feels similar to saidsituation prior. So I'm going to take

(06:16):
heed and I'm going to act accordingly. Whatever that means for you, I
don't know what it means for me. It was never allowing someone to make
me feel like if I did notacquiesce to their timeline. If I did
not say yes quick enough that Iwould lose out. I'm not doing that

(06:40):
again. So I don't know ifyou're in the midst of a decision that
you need to make. If youare, I hope this helps to nudge
you in the direction that's best foryou. And yeah, I'm gonna leave
it there. Thank you so muchfor listening. Thank you as always for
spending your time with me, allowingme into your world. And thank you

(07:03):
for those of you who continue toshare the podcast. I appreciate you as
well. Tell a friend because afriend might need to hear some of this.
