(00:01):
This is amazing media production. Hello, most awesome one. I am a
Yanna Angel and you are listening tothe Quick Plain Small podcast, your space
for inspired thinking, encouragement and goodness. Thank you so much for being here

(00:27):
with me today. Oh let's talkabout being unknown and using it as your
secret power. So so many peopledon't realize that being known requires a lot
out of you. Everybody wants tobe seen and known these days, right

(00:51):
and when I say non just visible, they want to go viral all of
these things. But maybe here's athought. Take advantage of being unknown.
Make it work for you so whenyou're not yet well known, you'll face
less judgment, fewer expectations of you. And in an age where everyone wants

(01:17):
to be seen and heard, whydon't we let obscurity the training ground.
This is your time to develop yourskills, to try out your ideas,
to learn what you don't know,to make mistakes, and maybe even learn

(01:41):
from those mistakes, to try againand again and again if you need to,
and to ultimately get better. Eventuallyyou'll be ready for that grand stage
because now you've gone through all theseiterations of whatever your ideas or iterations of
yourself growing growing, working harder, working harder to be the best version of

(02:07):
you that you could potentially present tothe world. Your best skill sets on
display, your best vocal performance, your best theater monologue, your best whatever
it is. But now you've workedon it so much, you've gone through

(02:29):
all of these different phases of it, that you are at your best.
I have a little scenario for youthat I want you to imagine to help
maybe illustrate my point. So rowwith me here for a second. Imagine
you're invited to give a televised speechto an audience of millions. If you're

(02:52):
thinking of potential scenarios, maybe it'slike an award show. Right. You
lobbied hard for this huge opportunity foryourself because you wanted to prove yourself.
Now that you're backstage, you arein the space you wanted to be in.

(03:13):
You've made it. You have arrived. All up until this time before
your backstage, You're feeling good,You're feeling excited. You're like, I'm
going to kill it. This iswhat I've been lobbying for. And so
the curtain is drawn your backstage. You can see the monitors, you can

(03:34):
hear the people clapping and laughing indifferent instances. The environment is swirling around
you. This is where you wantit to be. Now, your brow
is sweating profusely. You haven't evenlaid eyes on the audience yet, but
your stomach feels like nauseous and turningand queasy. Your legs are unstable,

(04:00):
like noodles. Your mouth is suddenlydry. You can't get it together.
You wanted this, though, Youwanted to shine. So you walk out
onto that stage, facing the blindingbright lights. You can hear your own
heartbeat thumping through your chest. Youkeep saying to yourself, this is your

(04:26):
big chance. Don't mess it up. Then it hits you. You've never
read from a teleprompter before, andthat's what's on the stage, staring you
dead in your face to help youdeliver your speech. This is typically a
position that only a season professional wouldbe in, right, So of course

(04:48):
nobody backstage thought to ask you ifyou're familiar with the teleprompter, because you're
a seasoned professional who lobbied for thisopportunity. Of course you can do this.
Of course you've read from a teleprompterbefore. You're the professional. The
first few words start scrolling on thescreen in a matter of seconds, you

(05:14):
fumble trying to spit out a basicword in front of the millions watching.
You're mortified. Your face is nowworthy of a mean Now, wouldn't it
have been better if your first experiencewith a teleprompter want a local level,
maybe maybe only a few dozen peoplewatching you fumble, maybe even a couple

(05:39):
of hundred people watching you fumble, versus the millions televised. So I'll leave
you with this. Take advantage ofobscurity while it lasts. Thank you so
much for joining me today. Ihope you have an amazing rest of your

(05:59):
week. I help you go outthere and do wonderful things. Take advantage
of your obscurity. Make all themistakes you need to make, mistakes in
all, I'm right here cheering youon. You can do it. Just
try to make those mistakes in asmaller pond. Don't splash so hard with
the mistakes now. I mean, look, we can't always control how we

(06:23):
come into situations of what opportunities aregiven to us. So I do say,
take the opportunities when you're given theopportunities, even if it's foreign,
something you've never done before, evenif it makes you feel uncomfortable, but
also when you have the option toget some experience under your belt on a

(06:44):
smaller stage, do it. Doit so that you will be prepared.
All right, I'm done for theday. I hope that this was maybe
helpful for you and gave you alittle something to think about as always be
well. This podcast is produced byMaiziemedia. Maziemedia as a women led podcast
