are tuned into Rabbit Hole Radio.I'm your host, Ross Harry, and
this is Laguna Beach is Only FMKXFM one oh four seven. We kick
things off tonight after a four weekvacation. Good to be back behind the
microphone here on a beautiful day inLaguna Beach. It looks like summer has
(09:26):
finally arrived. Actually, I returnedfrom vacation mid last week and no sun
until today, so today is agood day. We kick things off with
the Grateful Dead with a classic He'sGone, and that recording is from Vanita,
(09:46):
Oregon. Well, let's see wherethat was, the Old Renaissance Fairgrounds
in Vanita, Oregon, nineteen seventytwo. Like I said, this is
rabbit hole Radio. We do makesome discoveries in rabbit hole Radio. And
oh man, that song that concert, well, that song appeared in two
films, most recently Night twenty seventeenLong Strange Trip, which is a lengthy
(10:11):
documentary on the Grateful Dead. Ifyou're interested in the Grateful Dead and learning
more, highly recommended its Killer.I think it's on Amazon and it was
split into a six part mini series, so it's a bit of a commitment,
but it's excellent, an excellent overviewof the Grateful Dead's career. But
there was also a documentary called SunshineDay Dream, which I didn't know about,
(10:37):
that was shot on that day atthe Old Renaissance Fairground and that floated
around on bootleg for quite some time, finally released in August first, twenty
thirteen. So that explains how thatcassette made it into my hands years ago.
We love He's Gone, we lovethe Grateful Dead, we love rabbit
(10:58):
Hole Radio. That one goes outto Ed Seinfeld, Um, he's gone.
What is there to say? Well, when I can't think of what
to say, I want to dedicatethis next song to Ed Seinfeld, And
I couldn't say it any better thanthis next band. Give the sun refused
(11:46):
to shine. I would still beloving you. One mountains crumbled to the
scene, it will still be youand me. I'm a woman. I
(12:13):
give your mind. I'm a woman. Then drops a ray whisper of the
pain to trust in the day's gonnalie. My love is sharp, there
(12:39):
is non together me shark going tome, my mind inspirations, what you
are to me? Inspiration scene Andso today my world, it's miles your
(13:45):
hand in mind. We walk themiles thanks to you. It will be
done for you to me. Ithe long, the war, happiness,
(14:07):
no more sad happening. If thesun with you to shine, I would
(14:28):
still be loving you. My mountainscrumbled to see they would still be here.
And m m must the bad?Don't you try? Gotta see what
(16:18):
stie? All the world outside gottaget out? Why so gotta be free.
We gotta be free now to highway, see samples the wheat. We
(18:56):

I was time she was used tobe, But now I wish that I
(19:18):

long man and your life stand thesoul every morning beginning. But I fought
(19:56):
back to me. It's been solong, chances, Spens. I can't
as in years the tears wander. When I was a boy, I had
(20:37):
a mind, but maybe he gotwhen I was eving my teams. I
have my ship teams, but maybehe's got the teams at all time.
(21:00):
Ruscious, fine, the moment youbren is not to die. Time waste,
so man and your life, it'sall before, as I said,
(21:30):
but I've as me it's been soloud. Seems a good place, Spens,
and count all the years, thehorse of the business, the loves
(21:57):
of the tears and the water onthe war. Somebody going in on the
(22:33):
bar home. You want to takea walk, you want to go come,
you want to get some Chinese rise. I'm living on the Chinese one.
All my best things. A redline I'm living on a Chinese wine.
(22:56):
Everything about somebody the past is partingof the war. My girls playing

Chinese rock, Okay, Well, thank you Johnny Thunders Chinese Rock. That
was a song penned by d dRamone and with contributions from Richard Hell That
was written in nineteen seventy five. That track was from the Johnny Thunders and
the Heartbreakers LAMF nineteen seventy seven,LP super Cool. That one, We'll
(25:37):
Get You Going. Before that,we had When I Was a Boy from
The Who. That is the Bside to the single lets See Action,
released in nineteen seventy one. Foryou collectors of forty fives, you probably
knew that I did not collect thatmany forty fives. I didn't know that
until recently. And man, anythingby the Who in I guess everything by
(26:03):
the Who is just awesome. There'sa ton of discoveries out there. So
I wish I was along for theride for more of that, but grateful
for what I was able to experience. A couple three live shows, all
insane before that. Another favorite hereat rabbit Hole Radio the Kinks with the
Contenders, which I believe is thefirst track on their nineteen seventy two epic
(26:26):
Lowl versus Powerman and the Money GoAround Part one album. That's Nicky Hopkins
playing piano man. Anytime there's rockand roll, I guess in England or
other places, and rock and rollpiano in the late sixties mid seventies,
Nicky Hopkins isn't going to be faraway. And before that, we had
(26:48):
led Zeppin with a classic thank youfrom their second alp led Zeppelin to the
Brown Bomber love led Zeppelin. Thatone goes out to ed Steinfeld. Thank
you Ed, And you're listening torabbit hole Radio. So let's continue and
see what we have here. Dieafter Die they send my friends away two
(27:33):
mensions, cold and grid to thefar side of town where the thin men
stalk the streets while the signs dieunderground. Die after Die. They tell
me I can go. They tellme I can blow to the far side
(28:02):
of town where it's fundless to behind, because it's such a long way down.
So I tell al I comply.I will scream, I will break
my arm, I will do thehark. Here I stand pushing, came
(28:29):

me free. I'm a heavy.Ask me just my deadre of my being
and my esteam makes dream does Idrive? Say, with all the madman
(28:59):
back very swell, the side boomingbreath, and that rather the play with
all the mad man. But I'mquite content there all the sailors. Where
(29:41):
can the horizon line when the Natianhides it toking in a slanderings dark and
the ground flame, the sea verydim? Bye on the night they take
some brain awhite. Then turn myface around to the bar sign of down
(30:08):

while you munderstand up people up myhand and the sound in my hand,
(33:00):
I'll hand man. I'm my nameevil to devil, nation to nation be
(33:28):

I'm gonna shout, give my eviljust and under. Who did you find?
(34:00):
Didn't I do that? But Ididn't mean I didn't. I don't

(36:05):

(36:38):
We don't be making soul a findingbetter words. These ideas never lasted long.
The way he's along you growing feettwo minute friends dry blow off this
(37:10):
mountains with the wheels. Beat onthe lamb. We're gonna meet on the

(39:10):
the leg. We can be onthe lead, my friend, on the
lad We're gonna be the land youdon't come from again my time. M
(40:05):
Wow. That's an intense cover ofmeat on the Ledge by Greta van Fleet
from their twenty seventeen ep From theFires. That's a band I want to
see in concerts, so I hopethey play around here this summer. That
song was actually written by Oh mygoodness, would do I have it here?
Written? Oh yes by a FairportConvention British singer songwriter Richard Thompson.
(40:31):
That's a killer song. It wasoriginally recorded in nineteen sixty eight and it
was the second single back then forFairport Convention. So nice cover there,
Love Greta van Fleet. Before that, we had another rabbit Hole radio favorite
ten years after with rock and RollMusic to the World from the album of
(40:52):
the same name released in nineteen seventytwo. That's yet another standout album.
Killer Tracks Choo Choo Mama title tracksStanding at the Station ten years after has
quite a catalog. They released adozen albums from sixty seven to twenty seventeen,
fifty year career. Funny story,I went to see Alvin Lee live.
(41:16):
Oh I'd had to be I know, mid seventies, late seventies in
Portland, Oregon, and it wasthe only concert I've ever attended where there
was a no show. He didn'tmake it. We waited probably two hours
and then we're sent home. Thatwas a big downer, But that's the
closest I got to seeing Alvin Leefrom ten years after live. Before that,
(41:37):
we had David Bowie with All theMadman from his nineteen seventy release The
Man Who Sold the World. That'sa killer record. I think it's underrated,
but then again, probably most ofDavid Bowie's albums are. So you
are listening to rabbit Hole Radio ona beautiful Tuesday evening, I hope it
is. You're enjoying summer wherever youare where probably a day away from the
(42:00):
official kick off to summer. Andlet's see what's down here in the rabbit
hole. M m so, Soyou think you can tell heaven from hair,
(44:29):
blue skies from pain? Can't youtell me? Because do you real
smile from a hand? Do youthink you can tell? Do they get
you? Ra your heels, theghosts, hot ashes, the trees cool?
(45:00):
Please don't cover the chain? Didyou exchange? Walk apart in the
world? We roll in a game? How I wish? How I wish
(45:52):
you would? Here? We justto our souls and wish ball year outter
year, running over the same oldground. I'll be fine, same old
wish you here. M m mm m my wow. That was a
(54:37):
rock and blues number by Al Cooperand Mike Bloomfield. M Albert Shuffle That
appeared on an album entitled Super Sessions. I'm looking for the date here,
Oh Man, nineteen sixty eight. That's a nice one. Al Cooper and
Mike Bloomfield had previously worked with Dylanon the sessions for the groundbreaking classic Highway
(55:02):
sixty one revisited. It's hard topick a favorite Bob Dylan album, but
that's for me going to be rightup there top three for sure, as
well as playing in support of thecontroversial Dylan appearance at Newport Folk Festival in
nineteen sixty five when Dylan went electricand the crowd booed him. And what
(55:25):
can I say but you got tosalute Bob Dylan. He's a rock and
roll warrior, regardless of you thinkof his voice. He went up there
and said I'm going electric and theyboot him. That's that's kind of punk
rock rock style. So anyway, before that, we had Pink Floyd a
live version of a classic Wish YouWere Here, from their third live album,
(55:47):
Pulse, that was released in nineteenninety five, So that's post Roger
Waters breakup and continuation. The albumwas recorded during the European leg of Pink
Floyd's Division Bell Tour. Love everything, Pink Floyd, wish you were here.
Another one that I have to dedicateto a mentor of mine, Ed
(56:09):
Steinfeld. And so here we aresadly that boy, we have reached the
end of this edition of rabbit HoleRadio, and that flew by. So
we're gonna go out with a classicby the Stones and one more big expression
of gratitude, Ed, thank youfor everything you've done for me personally and
(56:30):
for the community of Laguna Beach. So you stressed that and run channel night
(56:52):
on your face and ra who couldsee a live jaelindus Gee, ain't don't
(57:22):
there going out to meet? CouldI say? Got sweet alight on you?
(57:45):
Ain't on the phone of the chillthe Lord on not eating sun when
you drunk with love long and youneed not brandom needing in the cool brand

the ways in time, smile onthe faces and same right now. I
