(00:00):
Throughout time, I've seen many differentpeople, people who like all kinds of
music, all kinds of music.Check this out. We've got a great
show coming her way today. I'velearned that music is what feelings sounds like.
Follow me on my journey to discovernew music, new styles, and
(00:23):
new people. Welcome, this isreal poun real music here on the LDM
radio station. Oh, I mean, handa, this is your girl,
Evie. Welcome to real talk, real music here on the ld M radio.
(00:43):
How are you guys? Sending youlove and blessings? And you know
what, I was just talking, you know, thinking talking with my friends
and my colleagues and even my producer, and I was just thinking, listen,
what is going on with this musicindustry feuds? I mean, this
(01:03):
is I'm gonna be honest with you. I know that this feuds has always
been part of the culture. Italways been part of the music industry.
I think that's that's what keeps everybodyon their toes, you know. But
it's just it's getting a little bitconcerning, because once tragic things starts happening,
(01:26):
that's when you start thinking, waita minute, you know, it's
being taken to another different level. But this thing going on with Drake and
Kendre Lamar and Chris Brown and Kuevofrom the Migos and among other things.
(01:47):
This thing also with the reggaeton world, I mean with Raul Alejandro versus de
Cortes Residente versus Jay Valuing. Imean, this is just the list goes
on and on. But you know, it's just it's crazy how you know,
things are escalating nowadays. And Iwas just wondering, and I mean,
(02:12):
are they doing this just to getattention from the public. Do they
feel threatened by the new music becausethere's a lot of new music out there
right now, there's a lot ofcompetitions. So it makes me wonder sometimes
if people do drastic things like thiscreate views, if there are creations or
(02:34):
is it the real thing. It'sjust it's it's crazy. It's crazy how
everything is going. So I wantedto talk about that for a little bit
today. You know, I thinkthat music industry is very challenging right now.
It's causing anxieties, fatigue, amongother things for the artists to just
(02:57):
to stay relevant right now. Andif you're not relevant, if you're not
out there, if you people arenot listening to your music. I mean,
you become something from the past andcome on, says Perro. You
know, it's just it's it's crazyhow everything is just involving now. And
(03:24):
I asked you guys a question.Do you think that it's just a pressure
to be involved in something, toattract viewership, to attract the streaming,
to attract money, because all thiscreates money. Uh. The couple of
weeks ago, I went out witha girlfriend of mine is and we went
(03:47):
to a nice lounge in the Bronxhere in New York shout out to the
Bx, and we were just havinga great dinner, and all of a
sudden, they started playing a partof a a part of a distrack that
(04:08):
Chris Brown said to send to Quevofrom one of the Migos, and I
mean everybody just got pumped and itwas just they knew the words and it
just told me and I'm like, really, I mean, are they is
it really a few happening or it'sjust for for streaming and attention. It's
(04:29):
just, you know, it's agood question. So I mean, this
goes. I know that it's partof the culture, like I mentioned before,
but it's just it's crazy how thingsare evolving nowadays in the music industry.
There's so much new talent out there, and it's just it's a lot.
(04:51):
It's hard. I could imagine beinga musician and living off that career.
Is there are certain uncertain piece ofjust not making it or making a
living out of it. It's justit's crazy. And you know, recently
(05:15):
there was some information on the newsthat a security guard working at Drake's home
in Toronto has been shot, youknow, and it was just like a
dry by And is it too much? Are they taking it too far?
And it makes me wonder what's nextto happen. Are we're going to have
(05:35):
another casualty of you know, whathappened to Biggie and what happened to Tupac.
And it's it's just very very concerning, concerning in the sense that we
don't want anybody be getting hurt oror you know, being hurt. But
(06:00):
is it just a trick one ofthose you know, a stunt to get
viewers, ships, to get streaming, to get that money, get that
mullah, to get them besitos inyou know. So it's just crazy,
it's crazy. And and this,like I mentioned also it doesn't It's not
(06:23):
just happening now in the hip hopworld, but it's also has happened in
the reggaeton world. There's a lotof back and forth and for years,
you know that Yankee versus Don Man, Resident versus Tempo Cocoella and sanuel even
(06:46):
even Annuela always has something going onwith somebody. But you know, it's
just it's it's it's crazy how timeshave changed about music, and honestly,
music it's not the same my opinion. Please let us know what you think,
Send us some comments, send ussome emails, Let me know what
(07:06):
you think about music nowadays. Andmusic is love. Music moves us.
Music makes us feel like everything ispossible. And when things like this happen,
it's just like, is it aboutchangeing thing? Is it like?
(07:30):
Does it get us excited? Likeyou know, always wondering things like that.
But at the same time, itmakes me wonder the mental health that's
going on right now in a lotof this artists. It's hard and I
can imagine what they go through andthe pressure of staying relevant, making money.
(07:57):
They lift off this. You know, a lot of us here in
the real world, I call itwe have a job, and if it's
not making not paying the bills correctly, and we want to live a certain
lifestyle, we get a second job, and we get a third job,
and we hustle, and they dothe same. They're doing the same,
(08:20):
and it's just it's a shame. It's a shame that it is being taken
as a joke. I think, you know, sometimes it makes me wonder
if that's the joke, you know, if it's a joke. Oh,
this is a joke, you know. I know, it's really hard to
(08:43):
make money right now. A lotof people are not making the same money
as before. And these tours arecrazy. I mean, the charges are
like almost a thousand dollars for aseat, and you have to like juggle,
should have the Renalds? Should Igo see my favorite artists? You
(09:03):
know, And it's just it hasthe value the music industry, I think,
just because it's like the ticketing isjust outrageous and it's a once in
a lifetime opportunity. But at thesame time, not everybody got that money.
(09:26):
So all these views and all thesethings that are happening, I wonder,
is that to attract the public backin Because I know they're suffering.
I know they are. Just recently, I was reading the news that about
Jennifer Lopez that, I mean, her album did not do great and she
(09:48):
was hoping a residency in Vegas andthat's a no no because it wasn't getting
the attraction that they were hoping andit wasn't selling tickets. So it's just
it's it's it's crazy, and Ican imagine the pressure that they're going through.
(10:09):
Not that I'm saying respectfully, notthat I'm saying that I'm I'm feeling
sorry for them because at the endof the day, they got money,
they're living okay, they have aroof over their head, compared to us
little people. I call myself littlepeople. But you know, it's just
it's it's not easy. It's noteasy at all. You know. It's
(10:33):
a lot of these record labels, and even if you're independent artists, you
are constant, you know, spendingmoney on your craft, getting it,
you know, getting it put theway you wanted to have to reach that
(10:56):
expectation for the public and for yourself that you have something good out there.
And this is a lot of pressure, is a lot a lot of
pressure, So it's crazy it's crazyhow everything is happening right now. Study
(11:16):
found that's seventy three percent of independentmusic makers experience anxiety and depression in relation
to their work. In twenty twentyone, the Journal of Psychiatric Research publish
a peer review report titled Mental HealthIssues among International Touring Professionals in the Music
(11:41):
Industry. And this was based ona pre pandemic survey of one and fifty
four individuals that show greatly elevated raceof clinical depression and stress in comparison to
the general population and levels of suicidallyso suicidal lynity. Oh my god,
(12:05):
I got tell twisted there, ladiesand gentlemen, there are five times the
average rate of the US. Soit makes you wonder, is this the
expectations that we are trying to reach? Is this what we want to do?
Is this what we want to reachout to, trying to get the
attention? But at the same time, it's because we are going through all
(12:28):
this depression and all this anxiety tostay relevant. Interesting, right, very
interesting. At the end of theday, music is life, your craft
is life, is what makes you, and all our experiences in life is
(12:54):
what makes us today. And thisfews I mean, is it very is
it really necessary? Is it interesting? Right? But listen here on the
real talk with your music, We'regonna bring your topics like this, We're
gonna have amazing interviews we create artists, and it just makes you wonder how
(13:24):
how are they living in their worldbecause we only see this other side as
a fan, as someone that's goingthrough things in life, and we can
connect with a melody that's gonna makesus, makes us feel better. So
it's just it's interesting how everything isevolving right now in twenty twenty four.
(13:48):
And at the beginning of this year, I said, I have a feeling
that this year is going to changemusic is going to change our lives.
It's going to be a peak inour day to day living in this world
(14:09):
right now. And there's a lotof changes happening. And it's not even
June. It's not even June,it's not even half of the year yet,
and all this thing is happening. So interesting, right, very interesting.
And one point that I wanted tostress is even before the pandemic,
(14:33):
it was not uncommon to see artistscanceling tours citing mental health issues or mental
health concerns. A lot of theseartists don't have health insurance and they have
to deal with this themselves. AndI mean at the reality has exposed a
(14:56):
mess. It has exposed the mess. So I do you know, I
wish them well. I send thema lot of good positive vibes. And
sometimes, you know, the stressto keep relationships and to keep friendship and
(15:18):
family together is it becomes too muchfor a lot of people. So I
just wanted to touch up on thatsubject. I know it is all over
the place, but if you thinkabout it, it makes you wonder if
these music feuds is it part ofwhat we live in right now? Mental
(15:41):
health is so important and it affectsus all one way of the the other.
So listen, stay tuned, stayhere on the LDN radio. This
