With capes unfurled, the legend flies,
A symbol born from ancient lore,
Now under James' guiding eyes,
He soars anew to heights once more. The Krypton son, in shadows past,
Now steps into a light reborn,
His future bright, his story vast,
A hero for a world reborn. With every frame, a tale retold,
Of strength and hope, of heart and might,
Yet something fresh within the fold,
A vision clear, a shining light. Gunn’s touch will craft the Man of Steel,
With humor, heart, and power grand,
A tale where truth and justice heal,
And heroes rise to take their stand. The world awaits this hero’s flight,
A journey set on paths to run,
For in this film, a new delight,
A Superman reborn by Gunn. The skies will part, the stars will gleam,
As he ascends with purpose true,
In every scene, a bright new dream,
Of what our greatest hero can do.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Your Tube pro.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Hello, Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Ranger
Ryan Show. Again, no Judge Jay for the next two
or three weeks, so just me and I get to
talk about things that I care about without being questioned
by anyone. If you'd like to question me, feel free

(00:52):
to send us an email Ranger ryanshow at outlook dot com,
or of course leave a comment on YouTube on any
random video at farthest from studios or Ranger Ryan Show
YouTube as well. You can do that as well, And
I always look at the comments and if the comments
are negative, I delete the video and cry in my

(01:14):
room for hours and hours upon end, which is healthy,
I'm told. So I'm going to continue to follow that
best practice. So today we talked about the Marvel Cinematic Universe,
the MCU, and today I'd like to talk about the DCU.

(01:40):
Is that what it's called DC Universe or is it DCCU.
I think it's just what is talk. We'll just say
DC Studios. We're gonna talk about DC Studios and of
course James Gunn being the co CEO, which is very forward.
That is a very forward thinking position co CEO. This

(02:08):
is a personal journal podcast, so I have to get
personal at my kids school since you know, we're in
school season nowadays. My wife they have like a parents association, right,

(02:30):
My wife went in with a group of two other moms,
So three ladies went in to talk about being the
president of the parents Association and in order to you know,
to be in the twenty first century, they're all going

(02:54):
to be co presidents. But they're not called presidents, they're
called co leaders. So that is very very corporate. So
my wife is a co leader and James Gunn is
a co CEO of DC's studios. So I want to

(03:15):
talk about gods and monsters. It's been something that has
been weighing on me heavily over the past few months,
and something I talked about briefly on the old podcast,
the old season of The Ranger Ryan Show, which you
can I don't think you can find it. I'm going
to wait till the end of the year to push

(03:37):
all the old episodes on just to see if I
can start from scratch. You know, this is a show
that's in its infancy but has been around for ten
years because all the old episodes are in a vault
just waiting waiting to be released like an avalanche. And

(03:59):
I just kind of want to see the personal journal
thing works for what I talk about. It doesn't in
my opinion, but it is a it's low hanging fruit,
and I can't compete with celebrities in the comedy space.
I can't compete with you know, large corporations in the

(04:20):
video game space, and you know people that made it
made it. I never made it, but I'm gonna. I'm
gonna make it as a personal journal podcaster, Okay. And
I talked about my personal journal portion, which is my
wife being the co leader of the Parents Association, and

(04:41):
we're going to transition into talking about James Gunn. Now,
James Gunn First and Foremost Guardians is an excellent trilogy
and having him get pushed over into d C taking
on a leadership role, a coleadership rule.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
And.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Making it clear that animation, film and gaming we're all
going to be on the same wavelength unless it isn't
and then it becomes an elseworld's which to me is
epic because I love Elseworld comics, and it has always

(05:28):
made sense to me to take your branding from the
comics and put it in your comic book film. So
to do an Elseworld's version of films, it's great, love
it and it lets people know what they need to
watch if they want to stick with the universal continuity,

(05:48):
and when they go off of that, they don't have
to get offended. Similar to what I talked about on
Tuesday with you know, Tony Stark becoming Victor Bundo in
a different universe, different same parents, I guess right, same
brilliant mind. I'm assuming anyway, done talking about that. James

(06:11):
Gunn has I've always been a fan, you know. I
even I used to own Tromeo and Juliet back in
the Trauma days of James Gunn. And if you don't
know anything about Trauma films, please do some research. And
I actually own Lloyd Coffman's book. I'm a huge Trauma

(06:34):
fan because I used to be pretty pretty pretty pretty
pretty pretty pretty big deal in the local independent film scene.
But that was before children, so I have since abandoned
that unillustrious career to be as good of a parent
as I can, which is fine. I think it was

(06:55):
a good trade off. I don't think it would have
led to anything because there is nothing that it leads to,
quite frankly, being a short film producer, director, actor. It
didn't really didn't really pan out. So Love Trauma I liked,
you know. I followed James Gunn throughout watched I think

(07:15):
I've seen every movie he's directed. Now he wrote Tromo
and Juliet. But there's been quite a few things that
I've seen associated with mister Gunn, and I like his brother.
I didn't watch Gilmore Girls, but I heard he's great
in it. It's not really my cup of tea. Howard

(07:39):
the Duck was. That was my cup of tea. Guardians
was my cup of tea, and Superman should be my
cup of tea. But I have some concerns. Obviously, we
saw the release of Jimmy Olsen not too long ago,
back in August.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
On the.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Nursery of Jimmy Olsen as a character, I'm fine with that.
I'm fine with the casting honestly of the film. I
big fan of Lois Perry's good. Lex is good, Everything's
looking good, Supergirl. I'm fine with that. My wife had
some issues, but I'm good with it, and I'm good

(08:23):
with Superman. I'm not good with the costume. I don't
like when they change names all the time. You know,
you could have called it the Project Legacy and then
the film Superman. But don't tell us it's called Superman

(08:44):
Legacy and then dump the legacy, because that makes me
think you're gonna dump the legacy in real life. Okay,
don't dump the legacy. Okay, as far as you know
the cameos, don't go too hard on the cameos. Okay,

(09:04):
don't fall into that category of having ten superheroes show
up at the end. Okay, you already told us that
Blue Beetle is apparently in this universe. We know green
lanterns in the film. Just don't get too crazy. You

(09:26):
already get Supergirl, all right, We're getting a little ahead
of ourselves at this point. Okay, Supergirl arrives much later
than Clark to Earth, so we need to make sure
that everything is played out correctly. Now, I will argue
that I feel like he knows his stuff. Okay, I do.
I do. I have some concerns because it looks like

(09:52):
a New fifty two kind of vibe. The collar there say,
there's a lot of there's a lot of concerns. I
have a lot of it has to do with the costume,
which is so lame that I'm that much of a
fanboy that I'm upset about costumes. Okay, but if you
have a bad costume, I e. Green Lantern Original with

(10:14):
Ryan Reynolds, I think it's going to affect the film.
If you don't respect the smallest detail of the costume
and you're going crazy with the costume, odds, are you
going to take some liberties elsewhere? That's it's pretty it's
pretty clear. It's pretty clear that if you're okay with

(10:37):
that that s even though it's known in this if
you're okay with that symbol, okay, I have a feeling
you're reading the wrong source material. Okay, So I have
my concerns. Now I'll talk about Creature Commandos, which looks

(10:58):
it's fine.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
You know.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
With adult animation, I'm just I'm kinda I'm in a
weird spot. DC animation to me is top notch. The
films are great. I love DC animated films. I think
that they do things that I wish Marvel could do
with animation. For some reason, you figure they're owned by

(11:23):
an animation company that they could get animation correct, but
they don't at all. They've not. I can't even think
of anything Marvel animated besides maybe the Phineas and Ferb
episode which has a crossover with Marvel that I liked.

(11:46):
And we're talking about modern you know, I can give
X Men ninety seven a little bit of a pat
on the back, you know, just be kind. But as
far as animation, yikes, what Mark but hip hip array
for DC, because they really have I mean New Frontier,

(12:06):
I mean it, it's good, it's good stuff, Creature Commandos.
It looks more on the on the line with like
the Poison Ivy animated series or the Harley Quinn animated series.
It just dos it's missing a little bit. And I
don't know that's because of the format being television versus feature,

(12:31):
but it really shouldn't. That shouldn't take you out of it.
You know. The trailer looked fine, Casting's fine, but I'm
not super into it. But I have to watch it,
apparently to stick with the continuity so I can watch Waller,

(12:53):
the live TV show featuring Amanda Waller. And we were
told very clearly that after Creature Commandos. Everything that happens
will be in the order of the release of the films,
So when you watch the movies, you watch them in
order of release. For the full continuity, you can take

(13:17):
your little else world break and watch, you know, Joker
and the Batman. But besides that, just follow the path
laid before you. Now, I'm looking forward to Superman as

(13:38):
much as I can. With that out, then, uh, I'm
fine with Waller Peacemakers sticking around. I'm good with people.
I actually really enjoyed it, so I'm gonna stick with
I'm gonna stick with that, which is part of continuity now,
and there some issues there with continuity, however, because it

(14:06):
was in Suicide Squad and that does that mean that
Suicide Squad is continuity? And are you doing that because
it was yours little I'm a little confused, but I
mean I even have I'm confused over Suicide Squad like
versus the Suicide Squad. I'm not one hundred percent on

(14:27):
that either. With continuity, I'm very lost, And at least
with Marvel, I know where I'm at. You know, I
don't like that they killed certain characters, but at least
I'm i know where I'm at, Grant. I gotta wait
till February for Brave New World, which I don't want

(14:50):
to see. I got Creature Commandos in December. I'm it's funny.
It's funny. We talked about Superhero fatigued vaguely on Tuesday's program,
and they're kind of starving us, you know, they're kind
of starving us of good content. They're gonna come out

(15:10):
with shows, right, Marvel's gonna have shows like with Agatha,
We'll get DC, We'll get some animation, adult animated content
with monsters. Okay, all right, I'll be honest. I I'm
going to be pretty pretty hungry for some superhero content.

(15:35):
And I don't think February is going to do it
with Brave New World. I think Superman can do it,
which is why it's getting It's getting its own podcasts.
The order for everyone, just so we know before we
spin the wheel and get out here. I think I
made my opinions quite clear, my personal journal opinions, if

(15:57):
you will. So we have Creature Commandos followed by Superman,
followed by Waller right or Peacemaker followed by Waller, followed
by Supergirl, followed by Peacemaker and then Brave in the
Bold after that. I believe so, and I despise they

(16:23):
came out with a ten year plan. I'm tired of
everybody getting ahead of themselves. If you have a ten
year plan with let's say eight movies and TV shows,
I mean, if two of them in a row flop,
you're going to abandon that plan. So don't even do it.

(16:46):
Do a two year plan. Don't do a ten year plan.
It's too much, too much. I can't commit ten years. Okay,
I'm gonna be retiring retirement age, waiting on the Brave
and the Bull to come out. No, it's not gonna work,
all right. So anyway, if I'm looking forward to anything,

(17:09):
it would probably be Superman Supergirl. I think that Supergirl
was an excellent casting. My wife disagrees. I'm not sure why.
We both watched House of the Dragon enjoyed it quite
a bit, so I don't know. I'm not sure. I
forget her argument had something to do with Millie Alcock

(17:32):
looking some like someone from her childhood or something, and
it bothered her.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
I don't remember, but I do remember she wasn't a
fan of the casting. I however, am I think good
acting is important for roles in a DC film. I
feel like that's something that they can do better than
other companies if they try. And I think with Lax

(18:03):
they did a good job, and I think hopefully we'll
we'll see that shine on screen because I'm I think
I'm pretty spot on that that casting was an excellent decision,
and I agree. I think Supergirl was as well. So
all right, let's spin the wheel. We'll do something related

(18:24):
an AI song based off of the topics we talked
about today. Let me get my where's my wheel? Wheel? Okay,
music genres? Spin the wheel dot app slash music dash genres,
that's what I use. If anybody cares, all right, it's
ready spin all right. So that is pop punk pop punk,

(18:56):
which is something I'm familiar with. I think I know
which way I'm going to go with this. Okay, this
should be interesting. I want to do like a story.
So when I break this song up, it's going to
have a beginning, a middle, and an end. I'm basing

(19:19):
it off a a song from a band that I see.
We'll see. I don't know if anybody will notice. If
you do notice, kudos, kudos, to you, but pop punk
I can I can roll with that with yeah, with
the topics we talked about today. All right, So thank
you as always for listening. Uh, it has been a

(19:42):
pleasure speak with you. I believe I'll be solo again
next week just based off of the things that JT
has to work on. So I guess we'll talk then
all right around all right, So until next time, thank
you as always for listening. Music to begin shortly, we'll

(20:03):
talk to you later.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
