It was the nineteen eighties. Forguys like me, things were already awesome.
We had MTV, the Goonies,Karate Kid, and Back to the
Future. Some of us wore parachuepants and some of us wore bugle boys.
We jammed a Prince Men at work, Cyndi Lauper, and saw the
rise of Metallica. The world wascovered in neon and people spoke in synthesized

(00:23):
beats. I'm just kidding about thatlast part, but it really was a
rad time, and for those ofus coming of age in those days,
there was no place more rad thanour old neighborhoods. As we cruised around
on our bikes with the best friendswe'll ever have. We raced, jumped,
and crashed around like Evilknevil, andthe world was ours for the taking.
But then, almost out of nowhere, this guy comes along, Hi,

(00:47):
some crude Jones, and everything changed. He was one of us,
a paper boy who thought he wasa pro, with a raw determination and
talent to prove that he was.He inspired us into believing we were pros
too, and almost thirty five yearslater, that legacy still stands. I'm
Rick Haney, I'm a forty fouryear old dad with two kids. We

(01:10):
watch RAD on a regular basis, and it's no surprise to me that thousands
of other dads still have their VHScopy of the film, not just introducing
their kids to the awesome sport ofBMX, but teaching them that they too
can be champions, no matter theodds. Join me in my two Radical
co hosts, Bill Allen and BrandonShaw as we talk about BMX past and

(01:32):
present, stories about the legacy ofRAD, and how guys just like me
all over the world are getting backon their bikes after three decades. We'll
talk with professional riders, athletes, and actors who helped make the film so
memorable, and most importantly, we'lltalk with Bill one on one as he
tells us about his life before, during, and after RAD. Not only

(01:56):
is he a great actor, he'salso an author, a talented musician.
He's even a pilot. If youlike good stories about Hollywood in the eighties
and beyond, Bill's got him andI, for one, never get tired
of hearing them, So take abreak from ass sliding and ride along with
us for a while. You canalso find us on Facebook, where we'll
be plugging questions from the Real thirtythree podcast page and featuring them on each

(02:19):
episode. We'll even toss out agiveaway now and again. Stay rad and
see you next time on Real thirtythree. Okay, dudes, let's walk
this sucker, all right, Yeah,
