Speaker 1 (00:06):
This is the Region one Sports Report with Brian York
on ninety nine to five The Fan.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Anyway we go on your Friday. It is a Friday,
October second edition of the Region one Sports Report. I'm
Brian York and as always, you can get in touch
with us here on the show via our social media
pages on Twitter or x at Region one Sports on
Facebook at Region one Sports Report on the text line
at two seven oh five, three, four forty three eight.

(00:35):
How we doing on a Friday? How you doing? I'm
doing great? Go Cubs Go. My Cubs win a series
for the first time since twenty seventeen. My twelve year
old son got to actually experience the Cubs winning a
series since he was four and didn't know or care
back then, so that was fun. We talk about this

(00:56):
a lot on the show. Those moments, Look what sports
can do, Those father daughter moments, mother daughter, what mothers,
you know, whoever's into sports in the family, Those moments
where you can watch sports and bond and enjoy that
time together. And me and my son. He had a
hitting lesson last out of batting lessons, so we didn't
get to watch the Cubs game as it was live

(01:17):
and somehow avoided spoilers. And we get home and I
turn on the Cubs game. It's delayed. I think they
were actually probably in the eighth inning when I started
the game. Nonetheless, we're watching the game and he came
in the living room on his own. I didn't call
him in there. I didn't say, hey, come watch the game.
He came in the living room, sat down in a
chair beside me and watched the game and rooted and

(01:40):
got excited and got frustrated, and all the emotions, all
the emotions came out from playoff baseball that I haven't
seen from him ever watching a Cubs game. That's fun, man, Fine,
that's what it is. That's what sports is. That's what
it should be, right, those things that just create those memories,
those passionate moments, those just fun times. It's great the

(02:02):
Cubs won. I got to enjoy watching the Cubs win.
And just like I enjoy watching him develop into an
athlete and play school sports and play travel ball and
play all that goes with it, watching him develop as
a fan, that's so cool. What a great night. Go Cubs.
Go by the way to the Cardinal fans out there.
I tried searching to see when y'all plays didn't come up,

(02:25):
just saying just say, come on, like one time in
my life, I can rub that in a little bit.
Give me that, all right, you've had you had one
hundred and eight years of rubbing it in. I got one.
I got one time. But just in case you didn't know,
they do still play baseball in October. Sorry, I had
to get one more in. It's it. By the way,
it is a thing called the postseason. And again for

(02:46):
my Cardinal fans, it's how we determine a champion. I'm sorry,
I got one more. That was it? Last one? Last one?
Come on, Like I said, one hundred and eight years
of suffering, you guys have put it over on us
for my entire lifetime. I get one time. Let me
have this. This this is my moment. We may go out,
Cubs may drop, get swept to the next division. I
get it. But as a Cubs fan, you have no

(03:07):
idea of the suffering. It's it. Just let me have
this one moment, all right? All right? I mean, I
know I've got the twenty sixteen World Series, but this
show didn't exist then, So this is my moment. Okay, Nonetheless,
Cubs win Cold night getting to watch sports with your kid.
And now we turn our attention to high school sports
and that thing we do here on the Region one
Sports Report. By the way, thank you to all you

(03:30):
who have tuned in and listened and all of our
listeners so far this season. As we run into fall
break a reminder, no show next week. I'll be from
the rainy Smoky Mountains. Everything's shut down, Thank you government.
All the things that I want to do in the
park are closed. Thank you. Thank you to our federal
government for ruining the one time of year I get

(03:51):
to take a vacation. Just really appreciate you morons bickering
and finding over things that, let's be honest. I'm not
trying to get political, but let's be honest over things
that in the end will not affect our lives one bit.
Just all of you standing on whatever supposed principle you
say you have. Nonetheless, it ruins a lot of vacations.
It'll ruin mine next week. All the fun things I

(04:12):
like to do, our favorite place to go set pick
neck and let the kids run around and play, all
of it closed. So thank you to the federal government.
But yes, we're headed to the mountains next week. Many
of you are headed on vacation, probably listening to this
podcast on your road trip. God bless you, God bless you.
Thank you. Maybe the families having to suffer along listening
to it with you, but thank you for that. As

(04:33):
you head to wherever you are headed, hope you have
a safe and fun fall break. But my point being,
will have no show next week. None, not one, Not Monday,
Wednesday or Friday. Back on the Monday following fall break,
which is the thirteenth. Who I had to check that
three times. That's October thirteenth, So back on the thirteenth.

(04:53):
No show next week. Thank you for listening all that
goes with it, and now let's do that thing we do.
Let's talk high school sports for one last time before
we take a seven day break. So plenty to get
into before we leave you for a few days. We
got to go over scores from last night. We will
we have soccer district action while we're on break, so
we've got to preview that. We got to set that up.

(05:15):
And then we've got week seven, that's right, I said
seven of the football season. So a lot to get
into on today's show. So let's just jump off the
dibbing board right into the middle. Scores from around the
region on your Thursday. You ready, I'm ready. Let's do this.
We'll start with volleyball. In volleyball, it was Carlisle County
over Fulton City three sets to none, Graves County over

(05:38):
Saint Mary three sets to none, Mayfield over Hickman County
three sets to none, and Murray beat CFS three to one.
That's volleyball on a Thursday. In girls soccer, one game,
we had Mayfield over Puduca Tillman four to two. That's
girls soccer on your Thursday. And in boys soccer we
had Callaway County beating Christian County eight to bil, Marshall

(05:58):
County over a tough Henderson County squad two to one,
and Murray shuts out Paduca Tilman five nil. Those are
your scores from Thursday. So before we get into week
seven of the football season, and we will, let's look
at postseason for soccer. Oh my goodness, I said it.
The postseason for soccer. District play starts next week. Before

(06:21):
we talk districts and matchups and make our predictions, let's
look at how things have ended for the regular season.
So final standings, if you will, for the regular season
in girls soccer, Callaway County seventeen and one, Marshall County
at fourteen three and one, McCracken County at eight six

(06:44):
and two, and Murray at seven four and two. Those
are the only teams with winning record and that's how
they stack up. Then you've got Paduca Tilman at six
and nine, Mayfield at four twelve and one, and Graves
County at two and ten. So that's how things stand
as the regular season ends in girl soccer. In boys soccer,

(07:07):
Murray High went unbeaten eighteen to oh and one. The
one tie soccer you did it to us again one tie.
McCracken County went eleven to five and three, Calloway County
ten six and one, Marshall County eleven nine and one.
Then you've got Mayfield at six and eight, Paduca Tilman
at two eleven and one, in Graves County at two

(07:30):
thirteen and one. So that's how things stand. Those are
the records as we end the regular season. Now let's
look at district play. So while we're on break, these
teams will be playing next week in the first district
and let's go back to the girl's side. We'll start
with the girls side first. In the first district you
will have McCracken County and Paduca Tilman and then the

(07:52):
winner will advance to play Marshall County, so mccrack and
Tilman with the winner going on to play Marshall County.
In the second district you will have Callawai County taking
on Mayfield. Murray taken on Graves County. So again second
district Callaway and Mayfield, Murray and Graves County. That's on

(08:14):
the girl's side. On the boy's side, you have Marshall
County taken on Puduka Tilman in the first district with
the winner taking on McCracken County, so again Marshall and
Tilman winner faces McCracken. That's on the boys side. And
District one. In District two, your first round matchups will
be Murray and Graves County, followed by Callaway and Mayfield

(08:35):
winners advancing to play each other. So those are the brackets.
That's where we are. Let's make our picks girl soccer.
On the girl's side, first district again three team district
you have McCracken playing Tillman winner takes on Marshall. McCracken
is going to beat Tilman. They will face Marshall. Marshall

(08:56):
win the district. There I said it. Marsh Marshall's the
postseason team. They always are, they always will be. They're
just great in the postseason. Those teams did meet in
the regular season. I gotta go back and look because
I've slept since then. Marshall County won one nill back
in August, but then separated themselves in September. They beat

(09:19):
McCracken County six three. So I do think Marshall County
will be the District one winner representative in the regional tournament.
McCracken County will get there as the runner up. That's
my pick. That's my prediction. In District two again you
have Callaway and Mayfield, Murray and Graves. Callawai will win,

(09:39):
Murray will win. You'll have Calloway taken on Murray in
the championship. Callaway will win the second district, which is
good for them to be a winner. Going in with
Marshall as a winner makes for a good regional tournament too.
So I predict Marsha will win the first district, Callaway
to win the second district. That's on the girls side.
On the boys side again you will have pretty much

(10:02):
the same matchups. You have Marshall County taken on Tillman.
The winner gets McCracken. Kind of that's the opposite actually
of the girls side. But Marshall will beat Tillman, they'll
take on McCracken. McCracken will win that district. So I've
got McCracken going in as a District one winner, Marshall
your district to runner up. In the second district you

(10:24):
have Murray and Graves, Callaway and Mayfield. I've got Murray
winning and Callowai winning and then I've got Murray winning
the district. So again your district winners. On the boy's side,
I'll take McCracken and District one, Murray in District two.
On the girls side, I'll take Marshall and District one,
Callaway in District two. All right, we're up against the break,

(10:47):
gotta take it. We will. We'll be back more. Region
one week seventh of the football season is upon us.
Let's get into it when we return.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
You were listening to the Region one Sports report on
ninety nine to five the fans.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
I've got my mother read you one sports as we
move along here in your second segment of your Friday
edition of the show, Getting ready for Fall Break, I
got that senior itis. I'm kind of half checked out
this morning. Not gonna lie, but trying to lock in

(11:26):
and focus up and get ready for weeks seven of
the high school football season. Some good games tonight. If
you're not headed out of town, you got a shot
to see a couple of good games tonight. A lot
of them are gonna be blowouts. There are a couple
that could be interesting tonight. Here's the slate, here's the schedule.
I think I think the main event, the marquee game
tonight is Paduka Tilman hosting Logan County. Unfortunately, there'll be

(11:48):
nobody there again because it's fall break Friday. But Tilman
and Logan County that'll be a good one tonight. That
is at Tilman Graves. We go to Apollo tonight. That'll
be sort of the under card game, if you will.
And then you've got some games that got a chance
to be blowouts. You've got Mayfield at Caldwell County. That's
gonna be a blowout. Murray at Webster County, that's going

(12:09):
to be a blowout. McCracken County is hosting Christian County,
but that should be a blowout. Calloway County at Franklin Simpson.
I don't think that'll be a blowout. In fact, I'll
move that up to our third tier game. I'll move
that up right below the Graves in Apollo game. Then
Ballard and Russellville again, don't think that'll be a blowout.
Probably a lot closer in that one. And then Fulton
County versus Kaverna could be a good one. It's okay,

(12:31):
all right. You do have a few closer ones than
I anticipated, But a lot of these have a chance
to get lopsided. So let's talk about it. We start, though,
with the marquee matchup Tilman and Logan County. And I
was talking about, is Fawbray Tilman's home crowd on a
lot of these games. If it's not McCracken, if it's
not Mayfield, if it's not Graves, they tend to have

(12:51):
a smaller home crowd for district games. This is the
best team left in their district. This is the best
team left in the district and they come to Tillman
on a night where Yes it's a travel game, Yes
they travel two hours to get here. Yes they've got
the road trip to come to town. Yes they're coming
to play on turf. But they're also going to get

(13:12):
a very quiet crowd compared to what some other teams
get when they go on the road. So who knows.
Does home field advantage really play a factor in these
games where things get quiet, where things are not as
rowdy and raucous, where the bands are typically off for
the night. There's no band, there's no cheerleaders, they're let go,
they're told they can go on to fall break. It's

(13:33):
just football between the lines, right. I don't know. I
don't know. It does have a way of evening teams out.
We saw this a few years ago Graves went to Apollo.
Kind of a theme this week of the year. Graves
went to Apollo and they were a four or five
touchdown favorite and ended up ended up being a fourteen
to seven game. It just has a way of being

(13:55):
a weird not of football. When you don't have bands,
you don't have cheerleaders, you have half the crowd if that,
and everybody's kind of checked out mentally for fall break.
I don't know, but this is for Tilman the best
team left in the district. And I keep going back
to that. They are undefeated Logan County coming to Paduca
Tilma tonight. Let's look at their opponent Logan County. They

(14:17):
have wins over Hart County, McCracken County, Russellville, who they
should have beat, a very good Greenwood team, Ally County, Scottsville,
and Callaway County. Now, of course their common opponent has
been McCracken County. Logan County played them at home in
week two and beat them thirty three sixteen. Paduka Tilman
beat them in the first week at McCracken sixty three

(14:38):
to twenty eight. So take with that what you will.
The Cougars of Todde of Logan County they come in
again unbeaten, six and zero on the season. They throw
the football at two hundred one yards per game, twelve
touchdowns to two interceptions. They run the football at one
hundred and twenty five yards per game with eleven rushing touchdowns.
I said this on Wednesday's show. Their number don't just

(15:00):
jump off the page to you. They have a good offense.
It's a very balanced offense and a good offense. It's
not going to run the scoreboard up in most games.
Their defense is good. They allowed fifteen points to Hart County,
who's good by the way. They allowed sixteen to McCracken County,
who just dropped fifty plus on Murray High. Mccracket's kind

(15:21):
of come along the last few weeks. They allowed sixteen
to the Mustangs. They shut out Russellville, who they should
have shut out. They allowed twenty one to Greenwood in
an overtime win. That's been their highest allotted points of
the season. They hold Allen County Scoonsvill to seven. They
hold Callaway County to thirteen. Calloway County's offense has been
good this year, so they have a very good defense

(15:45):
against fifteen sixteen, zero, twenty one, seven, thirteen. Those have
been the opponents scores in their first six games. Padukatilman,
those not quite that offense that they've seen so far.
They are more potent, if you will, the Blue Tornado.
They come in stat wise at three hundred and one
yards are up sorry, three hundred and four yards passing

(16:07):
per game for stone Crow twenty two touchdowns eight picks.
I think he leads the state in passing yards. They
run the football at one forty five a game with
twelve rushing touchdowns. Again, they're not as interested in running
the football. Those team numbers seem high, but their leading
rusher at seventy two yards per game with five rushing touchdowns.
Tilman's advantage is gonna be over the top taking shots.

(16:29):
That's what they do, That's what they want to do.
They're not interested in time of possession. They're not interested
in a field position. They're always in scoring position. Doesn't
matter where they are on the field. Logan County is
gonna want to come in. They're gonna want to grind
and control the clock. They're gonna want to keep the
football as much as possible, keep the Tilman offense off
the field. I think their defense is good enough to

(16:50):
slow the Tilman offense. I don't know if it's good
enough to stop the Tilman offense. And I do think
my pick is Tilman is gonna win this game. This
is one of those weird nights where a few years ago,
not last year, but a couple of years ago, we
thought this game might be close, and Tilman ran them
off the field. In fact, these teams have played. Now

(17:10):
this will be the third beating in a row, just
the fourth all top. But in twenty twenty three we
thought this could be, didn't think that it would be,
thought it could be a close game. It was sixty
three to twenty Tilman. Last season it was forty nine
to fourteen Tilman. Now again, that was a better Tilman team,
not as good of a Logan County team. Logan County's
gotten better, they're playing better football this season. Tilman's still

(17:32):
really good. Last year's team was special ken Logan County
closed the gap. I do think this will be. I
think Tillman will put up forty two points. I think
they'll get to the forties, get somewhere in there. I
think Logan County can keep up for a little bit.
This feels like a forty two to twenty one kind
of game, closed for a minute, not really quite a blowout,

(17:55):
but certainly a sound Tillman win could be coming tonight.
I think Logan County is gonna win. I think they
can make it close, but it feels more like a
three score game. When you look at it, that's Logan County,
that's Tilman. That is the marquee matchup, the sort of
bigger one tonight. Then right below that, you've got Graves

(18:15):
County going to Apollo. I get it, Man. Graves County
one in five to start the season uncharted territory. I
know they haven't been one in four since twenty eleven.
I don't think they've been one in five since like
two thousand and three. So it is the worst start
in twenty two years, which is insane. But you were

(18:38):
talking about how good a program has been. That's pretty good.
Now they still have a shot, and that's why this
game is big and important. They still have a shot
to get five regular season wins, which would actually be
on par with I think they're twenty and what nineteen team,
maybe two thousand. I have to go back and look
again again. I've slept since then, but five wins of

(18:59):
the regular season and a shot to still finishes the
third seed in the district, which is what they were
predicted to be at the start of the year. Just
didn't think we'd be one in five at this point.
Still trying to meet those expectations, but they are. They're
one in five. Apolo, though has not been as good
as people thought they might be either that they were
kind of predicted to be the team that would not

(19:21):
graves off of that three seed perch, still have a
shot to do it, right, I mean, those things are
still in play tonight. But Apollo was seen as a
team that not only would not graves off the perch,
but maybe compete with Madisonville, not quite, but maybe a
little bit with Owensboro. And they've struggled a little bit.
They're two and four on the season. They've had an
easier schedule and they got one of the easier district

(19:42):
opponents in Muhlenberg County early in the year, which, by
the way, Graves County. They've got to be able to
redo that district schedule in the future. I mean, they
played the three best teams in the district one, two, three,
I mean in a row. All these other teams they
spread them out, so you know, just saying bit of
a little bit of a coup going on there. But nonetheless,

(20:04):
Apollo has been gifted an easier game and they got
to win in district play over Mulenburg County. Apollo lost
forty two to fourteen to Owensborough. Graves County lost forty
nine to fourteen to Owensborough. So you kind of see
these two teams are in a very similar spot. Apollo
again two different styles of offense. Graves is going to
want to run the football and then take their shots.

(20:25):
Apollo is going to take their shots and run the
football off they have to. Apollo throws the football at
two hundred and forty six yards per game, twelve touchdowns,
three picks. They run the football at ninety one yards
per game with four rushing touchdowns and their second leading
rusher is their quarterbacks, so again, they don't want to
turn and hand the football off if they don't have to.

(20:45):
In fact, their leading runner Milbourn has got sixty nine
carries on the season. Johnson the quarterback is number two
with nineteen carries, so they will give it to one guy.
They don't like to give to hand the football off
much though, if it's not him, So look for that
Apollo to throw the football tonight. Graves County wants to
be balanced, no doubt. Their offense has been held in

(21:09):
check to this point, but they've played Mayfield, Tillman, Murray, Owensboro,
Madisonville and Union County. There's not a harder team that
they could have played. They've played them all the best
teams in a two hour radius they have played. But
it has certainly stifened an offense that probably needed a

(21:31):
feel good game and didn't get one. Throwing the football
at seventy yards per game, one touchdown, four picks, running
the football at seventy five yards per game with eight
rushing touchdowns. That number, though, is going up, and I
think will go up this week. I think Graves will
be able to move the football on Apollo. I think
this is the I'm not going to say the easiest,
but the worst. And I say that in context of

(21:52):
who they've played, the worst defense that they have played
to this point. This is the defense. It's kind of like,
and I go back to this, when the Cubs faced
showed up face to U Darvish last night, that was
the Cub's best shot to score runs on the starting
pitcher for San Diego. This is Graves County's best shot
to score points in the games that they've played so far.

(22:14):
You know how I be. I always pick Graves County.
I think Graves will go on the road again, a
quiet crowd, hardly anybody there, no you know, no bands,
no cheerleaders, a weird not of football, and I think
they're gonna go get a win because because they have to.
This is it. Everything you could still achieve in your
season is on the line tonight when you go to Apollo,

(22:36):
Graves County gets to win, all right, gotta take a break,
We'll come back plenty more.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Its Region one, Region one Sports. Nope, it's not Ashton Coucher.
It's Brian York, equally handsome, equally smart on ninety nine
to five The Fan.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Region When Sports. Our final segment on your Friday edition
of the show, as we get ready for Week seven
of the football season, so we talk Tillman to Logan County.
I do think Tillman wins. I do think they win
by three scores. But it I mean Logan County's good,
so we'll see how that goes. I do think Graves
goes on the road at Apollo tonight and gets their
second win of the year, their first win a district play, which,

(23:27):
like I said earlier, they have to. I mean they
come back from fall break and have to get ready
for a better and improved and a hungry Marshall County team.
And then they play Muliberg County, who's better and improved
and hungry. And then they play McCracken County, who has
just hit all kinds of strides offensively. We'll talk about
them in a moment, but they've got to And by
the way, I left Marshall County off my preview of

(23:50):
games tonight, Marshall County is at Owensboro. Yikes. Yeah, could
be a tough night for Marshall County. It's been a
tough night for Owensboro's district opponent so far, as Owensboro
beat Graves County forty nine to fourteen, Apollo forty two
to fourteen, and now they get Marshall County tonight, fresh
off the win over Miehlenberg County twenty three to twenty one.

(24:10):
The Marshall's a district win, so they're kind of in
the driver's seat to maybe be a third seed in
that district, may maybe a number two seed if they
go knock off Owensboro tonight. Can be a lot of
Eagle fans, well, not a lot, because it's fall break.
There will be some Eagle fans and Marshall fans converging
in Owensboro tonight, but going to do two different high
school locations. The Marshalls travel to Owensboro Senior. The Red

(24:35):
Devils are four and two on the year. They're only
losses that are sinex and a cow. Yeah, that's pretty solid.
Marshall three and three on the season. The Marshalls, they
come in averaging one hundred and twenty five yards passing
per game, seven touchdowns, four picks. They are running the
footballt won eighty nine per game with fifteen rushing touchdowns.

(24:55):
Run the football, Marshall the most that you can try
to keep that Owensboro offense on the sideline because when
they're on the field, they're electric, especially at home. And
by the way, to my radio friends going up there,
Aaron Clayton to you, my friend, get ready for the
most annoying radio person in the world to set in
that booth near you. There's sort of an unwritten rule

(25:17):
in sports media. We're not supposed to talk bad about
our fellow brethren. And I'm not really trying to talk
bad about him. I just think their radio station is
ridiculous for letting this guy call games. It really is
hard to listen to. Man. It's hard to be in
that booth and hear it. It's hard to hear a
team go up in a running clock game and score
a touchdown to be up forty nine to seven, and
hear this guy going off like it's the game winning

(25:38):
Super Bowl touchdown. It's just bad broadcasting. Sorry, it just is.
I told you i'd always be honest on the show.
It's just annoying and not good. Nonetheless, I digress enjoy that,
but no Marshall goes on the road at Owensboro. Here's
the thing, Owensborough. Look at their stats, and it be fair,

(25:59):
We'll give them a look at their stats. They are
throwing the football at one point fifty nine per game,
ten touchdowns, one interception. They run the football just one
thirty a game. They've got one of the best running
backs in the state, a top recruit across the country.
I think he's a top three hundred recruit. But he's
only run the football now at ninety nine yards per
game with six touchdowns. Teams have done a good job

(26:21):
of kind of loading the box and saying, look, we're
gonna stop him and have to live with the pass.
Here's the thing in my worry is I think the
matchup does not favor Marshall County in any way. I
think that Owensboro is gonna want to pass the football.
We saw them towards a very good Graves County defense.
They were fourteen of sixteen for over two hundred yards
and a lot of early scores in the air. I

(26:41):
think they're going to want to try to do that.
Probably do that, and Marshall's gonna have kind of an
uphill sledding from there. I just worry about that. I
think the matchup, you know, Marshall favors if they can
play a team where they can kind of get it
in the trenches and kind of grind you out on
the interior. I think that favors them. This is a
team in Owensboro that's gonna get out on the edge
and exploit their skill guys, and I think that's where

(27:03):
Marshall struggles. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for the Marshalls.
I want to see Owensboro taken down. But Owensboro is
gonna win this game, all right. What else we got?
Let's talk callaway at Franklin Simpson the Lakers on the
road at Franklin Simpson. Franklin Simpson is arguably the third

(27:26):
best team in their district. They're four and two to
start the season. Calloway County, of course, is four and
two to start the season. The Lakers, though, I had
a little bit easier schedule, but so far they are
throwing the football at Bridwell is throwing the football at
one sixty six per game, eleven touchdowns, six interceptions. They
run the football at two hundred and five yards per

(27:47):
game with twenty rushing touchdowns. Calloway County, don't get fancy.
Do what you do best. Hand the football off to
Logan Smith and let's see if he can he can
get it. Even if you're struggling early body blows. Just
take the body. You're not gonna go You're not gonna
be able to go in there and throw a haymaker.
You're not gonna be able to go in there and
stun them with the right hook. Go in there and

(28:09):
attack the body, jab after jab after jab. Logan Smith,
is that tool for that? You know, throw it when
you need to run it though, run it, run it,
run it. That to me is where you're gonna have
your best shot. Keep your offense on the field, keep
the drive steady, inconsistent, and run the football Franklin Simpson.

(28:30):
The Wildcats of Franklin Simpson. They throw the football at
forty three yards per game, five touchdowns, three picks. They
run the football at three hundred and eight yards per
game with twenty five rushing touchdowns. They have two guys
averaging over one hundred yards rushing per game with seventeen
combined touchdowns. Here's why I'm telling Calvay to run the football.
If you try to throw it and it's quick offensive possessions,

(28:52):
they're gonna eat time of possession. If you try to
throw it and your time of possession is quick, three
and out, you know, maybe you get a first down,
but then go three and out after that. If you
cannot sustain those drives, they're gonna get the football and
they're gonna march the football down the field and eat
ground and eat clock. And you're not gonna have an
opportunity to win this football game because you're not gonna

(29:13):
have the football very long. Run the football, try to
keep their offense on the sideline, not let them chew
up clock. That's your best shot to win. I'm rooting
for Callaway, but it's on the road, long road trip.
Fall break Friday, Franklin Simpson is the favorite. I think
they're gonna win. But let's go Lakers. Let's go shock
the world tonight cause it would be it. Listen, Franklin

(29:36):
Simpson is good. You know they lost to Tillman thirty
five fourteen. They were in that football game. So this
is I said, the Logan County game is a measuring
stick for Callaway. Logan might be actually even better than
their six and oh record. Who knows. This is the
measuring stick because I think right now Callaway is gonna
finish fourth in that district. But to see where you've

(29:57):
come and see how far you've come, this is a
big measuring stick game. So that's Callaway at Franklin Simpson.
You've got McCracken, I said, hosting Christian County. I got
that backwards. They are on the road at Hopkinsville. Same thing, right,
those two schools are about to consolidate. It's the same thing.
But no, unfortunately they are playing the better of those

(30:17):
two teams as they take on Hopkinsville. The Mark Clark connection,
unfortunately not a good one for both schools. Is his
tenure at McCracken ended pretty rough and then never really
got going. At Hopkinsville when he went back to the Tigers.
The Tigers are bouncing back from his tenure, so is
McCracken County, to be honest with you. But they go

(30:38):
on the road tonight. They meet up two six A
opponents so far this season, Hopkinsville three and three to
start the season. The Tigers throw the football at two
hundred and four yards per game, thirteen touchdowns, three picks.
They run the football at one to forty three a
game with fifteen rushing touchdowns. This is gonna be a
good game. It's gonna be a good game. McCracken County

(30:59):
is two and four. They have found their offensive groove,
throwing the football at two to twenty two a game,
sixteen touchdowns, six picks. Running the football won thirty a
game with twelve rushing touchdowns. I think this is gonna
be a high scoring game. I don't know if McCracken's
defense is gonna gonna quote unquote win the game. I
think their offense is gonna win the game. I think
they're just gonna outscore Hopkinsville. But this has I mean,

(31:22):
Hopkinsville very easily could win this game. I don't know
if it's fifty to fifty. But this is a bit
a little more of a toss up than some of
these other games. But this has a chance to be
high scoring. Mean, Hopkinsville scored forty nine, fifty five, fifty
five in their three wins this season, and their losses
they were held to nineteen, twenty one and fifteen. Again,
I don't think McCracken's defense is gonna go in and

(31:43):
hold them to less than twenty points. I think this
game easily gets in the thirties, could get in the forties.
I think McCracken is offensively two touchdowns better. But we'll see.
This has a chance to be a close game. I
do think McCracken can get the win on the road.
It's gonna be a good game. It's gonna be a
really good game. And then you've got Murray at Webster County.

(32:05):
It's a blowout. Webster County is terrible, Murray is terrific.
Murray is unbeaten six and oh Webster County is one
in five. Their only win is a two point win
over maybe the worst team in five A in the state,
and Ohile County. That's just being honest. Webster County runs
the football or I'm sorry. Throws the football at nineteen

(32:28):
yards per game, one touchdown, four picks. They don't even
try to throw it, to be honest with you, twenty
three attempts in six games is not a lot. They
run the football one hundred and fifty yards per game
of eight rushing touchdowns. They don't really do that well either.
Murray's gonna win this one, Big Murray, just to give
you their dude, show you their stats to tell you
where they are in week seven. They throw the football

(32:50):
at two eighty seven a game, twenty one touchdowns, one pick.
Run the football at two six a game, eighteen touchdowns.
This game is gonna be a running clock early and
a lot of scores, often the Tigers. And then, last,
but not least, we have Ballard hosting Russellville and Fulton
County hosting Caverna. Let's talk Ballard. In Russellville, the Bombers

(33:11):
are searching for their first win. Russellville is coming off
of their first win. Until last week, these two teams
looked almost identical, giving up about the same amount of
points a game and offensively scoring about the same. But
last week Russellville' sort of found their stride against a
winnable opponent. Ballard has struggled thirteen points since Week one

(33:36):
of the football season. That's it. They don't give up
as many points as Russellville. So I do think Ballard's
offense will find the end zone tonight. It's at Ballard, man,
I want to give Ballard. I'm rooting for the Bombers.
I just think Russellville's gonna get the win. The Bombers
throw the football at fifty one yards a game, run
it at fifty six yards per game. I don't know

(33:57):
their touchdowns because it's all off on k just a
Russellville for that matter. The Panthers they throw the football
at one forty three a game. They run the football
at seventy three a game. Five touchdowns, eight picks, six
touchdowns on the ground. I just think their offense is
just better. I think they do get the win tonight.
And then you've got Fulton County. They are searching for
their first win. They take Onkverna, who has got one

(34:19):
win on the season. But if you look at this,
I think Fulton County is maybe the better team. They
they do score the football and now they give up
a ton of points, but so does Kaverna. The Coverna
doesn't score the football as good as Fulton County the
Colonels of Kaverna. They average forty one yards passing per game,
five touchdowns, two picks, two hundred and eleven rushing yards

(34:40):
per game with ten touchdowns. Fulton County has been surprisingly
good on offense. Their numbers do not look bad at all.
One hundred and ninety eight yards passing, twelve touchdowns, nine picks,
one to thirty nine on the ground with eight touchdowns.
I think Fulton County gets their first win tonight, and
that's it for our show. Enjoy the break, enjoy the games.

(35:01):
Be safe on your travels. We are off next week.
We'll be back on the thirteenth. Until then, this has
been Region one Sports
