Speaker 1 (00:06):
This is the Region one Sports Report with Brian York
on ninety.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Nine to five The Fan, and we're back. Welcome back.
This is the Region one Sports Report. I'm Brian York.
I'm excited and I hope you are too. It's been
a long summer break, but the break is over and
we have returned to your radio and to your podcast

(00:33):
for the Region one Sports Report. I know now at
full disclosure, this show was part supposed to begin back
last week. That was the hope, the goal, the idea
of the plan. And then I got sick. Now I
got really sick. I don't know what it was. It
didn't feel quite as severe as a bad enough head
cold or like flu or anything like that, but it

(00:56):
also felt worse than allergies. Of course, I'm a big
baby when it comes to getting sick, so it was
probably just simple allergies and I, you know, not tough
enough to deal with it. Nonetheless, thought we were gonna
do the show last Monday. I was sick, hoped I'd
be better by Wednesday. Actually it was kind of worse.
And then by the time Friday rose around, you might
as well wait on a brand new week, and we

(01:16):
did and We're here, and I hope it was worth
the wait. It's been a long summer, It's been a
long break. It was a good break. Every time we
have a break, it's good every time we get to
the end of the school year. Just to be honest,
I'm I'm I need a break for my own sanity.
It was a good break. But like always, at some

(01:37):
point during that break, I started to miss it. And
then as we got nearer and nearer to the school
year starting and closer and closer to high school sports
starting back up, not only did I get to missing it,
I got to longing for it. I was ready for it,
and hopefully you were too. So it was a good break.
Recharged the batteries, refocused some of my attention and effort,

(02:00):
and boy, I'm ready to go, Ready to go for
a brand new school year. By the way, this is
year number and I want to check. I wrote it
down so I don't get it wrong. This is going
into our eighth year of coverage of high school sports
for region one eighth year. Can you believe it? I can't.

(02:21):
And they said we wouldn't last a year. Now, that
was us. We said that, me and Chris back in
the day, I will be lucky to get a year
out of this. So if this was like, since we
take a break in the summertime, think of it as seasons.
This is season eight of the Region one Sports Report.
Just means I'm getting older, getting more out of touch
with these high schoolers these days. Season eight. That's incredible.

(02:44):
This thing started in twenty eighteen. It started as the
Football Report during football season. We morphed it into the
Sports Report when we got to basketball season that first year.
I mean, you can find those episodes. I don't recommend them.
It's rough. We're just babies, just babies like we'd been,
you know, trying to learn our way. But here we

(03:05):
are in year number eight, which is incredible. And during
the summer, I think it's important anytime I take a break,
I try to I try to look at at everything.
I try to have a little you know, retrospective of
what's going on with the show, with the product, with
the brand, whatever it may be. And I sat down
this summer and I thought, all right, let's let's try

(03:26):
to figure out what what do I like doing about
the show. What are the things I don't like doing?
Because if I'm enjoying it, then I believe you're going
to enjoy it because that's authentic. So let's try to
figure that out because that might help us figure out
what's working, maybe what's not working, what are things that
don't really work on this show. When this show started,

(03:49):
we've made no secret about that. It was never meant
to be like I know, the name is sports Report.
It was meant to be just a commentary on what
was going on. In all honesty, it was meant to
like our thought was, if you already know the facts,
let's give you the commentary, let's give you the other stuff.
Let's give you the Paul Harvey, the other side of
the story. If we've got it. And in the beginning,

(04:10):
right out of the gate, the year is twenty eighteen,
we announced that we're doing a podcast with no promotion.
We just do it. It's just out there. We put
the show on radio. That's it. After a few weeks
we check our downloads on the podcast. We have fifteen downloads,
and we thought that is incredible. And then we kept thinking,
all right, that's fifteen an episode, which is great, and

(04:33):
if we can get to fifty an episode, man, we're cooking.
And then within a year, a year and a half,
we got to fifty an episode, and we kept thinking,
all right, if we get to one hundred, we've made it,
because we dreamed small, because you know, we reached for
the moon and you never have to worry about hitting
the stars. And so we dreamed small. One hundred episode,
and then we got to one hundred episode that next year.

(04:55):
All right, but there's no way we get to two
hundred an episode. Well, when I was having in my
retrospective this past year, not only did I look back
on that and see the and track the growth of
the show, but we got to two hundred listeners episode
a long time ago. We've more than doubled that in
the last few years, and last year was our most downloaded,

(05:16):
most subscribed to, most listened to year of the Region
one Sports Report. Thank you. First of all, thank you,
And that's just the podcast. That doesn't count the radio audience,
which is in the thousands. And so I think, you know,
when you reflect, when you're looking ahead, that not only
excited me, it got me more pumped up. But here's
the thing. This show, as I said earlier, started as

(05:38):
a commentary, pure commentary. That's what it was meant to be.
When we got to looking at the numbers and looking
at the growth of the show, it seemed to coincide
with some of the other coverage around the region starting
to drop. So our thought was, it looks like Region
one started to feel a void, meaning people started to

(05:59):
tune in to kind of get the news now Again.
I never want to be a straight news straight here's
just the facts, here's the stats. That's boring if you
just do that for forty two minutes. But this seemed
to fill a void that was getting left with the
lack of coverage in other areas, other traditional areas, And

(06:22):
so I sat down this summer and I said, Okay,
I think we need to ramp up. I hope you
think we do a pretty decent job of covering things.
But keep in mind, I'm a one man man. I'm
at Graves County games clearly, so unless your team plays
Graves County, I don't always get to put my eyes
on these teams. I don't always get to see the
product for myself. But how do we amp up our

(06:47):
coverage with one person who can't be everywhere at once,
who has his own kids playing sports, who has his
own things going on and then I was sitting there
this summer and I realized I have a new tool
at my disposal. I have something that can be an
aid to us. It's called a phone. I don't know
if you've heard of these, but in all seriousness, we

(07:08):
have a new way of communicating here at work. We
have this new app with phone numbers that are not
our personal phone numbers, and you can text it, you
can call it, you can leave a voicemail, just like
any normal phone operates, but it's all through this app.
And I can give this number out to you and
you can call or text or whatever you know, send

(07:29):
an email. My email address is listed on it, and
you can communicate with me. And so here's the deal.
I'm asking to partner with you this year. I want
to make sure there is no stone left unturned. I
want to make sure there is no athlete doing something
that we don't notice, that we can't shout out. Because

(07:49):
what I learned this summer in my you know, look
back retrospective, whatever you want to call it, what I
learned was, yes, the commentary worked out of the gate.
It worked. It was you know, you don't want to
be so we're not going to ditch the commentary. We're
not gonna ditch the This is a sports talk show.
I think some of our best episodes when we're you know,
it's just me looking at stuff and reacting in real

(08:10):
time and just talking about things in real time, just
to just having a conversation. But I want to make
sure we're amping up the coverage. I want to make
sure that these athletes are getting coveraged where maybe they
used to get covered and those things have kind of
either gone away or been scaled back. They deserve it.
Not that that was our original goal, but as we
got into doing this show, we we realized we want

(08:33):
to make sure these athletes get their due. So we're
asking for your help. So I'm going to give out
the phone number in a minute. You know, I'll give
it out here in a moment so you don't miss it.
And I'm asking you when you're at these games, when
you see something and you think, man, that's cool, this
this person, this kid, this athlete deserves for that to

(08:54):
be recognized, let me know that's it. You can you
can call, leave a voicemail. Maybe I'll even answer, probably not,
but you can call, leave a voice smail. You can
text it in think of it like a text machine
with KSR. Maybe you hear something on the show and
you don't agree with it, let me know. Maybe you
hear something on the show and you agree with it,
please let me know. But nonetheless, it's the simplest, easiest,

(09:22):
quickest way out of the gate that we can hopefully
enhance our coverage because the other thing I learned this
summer talking to some coaches, talking to some athletic directors,
talking to some parents, talking to some athletes. More people
in that world are listening and paying attention than I
even realized. It's easy to look at numbers. It's easy

(09:42):
to look and go, man, five hundred people listen to
this episode. Then you start to put faces with those numbers,
and you realize it's a lot of athletes, it's a
lot of school you know, personnel, it's a lot of
parents and a lot of just fans in general, and
you want to make sure that again, they're getting the
coverage they deserve. So I'm gonna give out the number.

(10:06):
Are you ready? I'll give it out in the second
segment as well. And again, think of it like the
text machine from KSR. If you listen to KSR, think
of it like, you know, your own quick personal connection
to make sure those athletes that you're seeing that I
don't get to see all the time, are getting covered.
So if you're ready, here's the number. Are you ready?

(10:27):
It's two seven oh five, three four four three oh eight.
Two seven oh five, three four forty three oh eight.
That's the number. When you're at a game on Friday night,
when you're at a soccer game, whatever it may be,
and you see something and you're like, man, this kid
deserves to have that mention, deserves to have that covered,

(10:49):
deserves for that spotlight to hit it, to illuminate that
to the rest of the region. Let me know, and
I would greatly appreciate it. Again that number one more time.
Two seven h five three four forty three oh eight.
That's the text machine you can call, you can text
do what you need to do. Let's hamp up the

(11:10):
coverage for this school year. That's my goal. So let's
see if we can get it done. All right, let's
take a break, we'll come back, we'll do what we do.
We'll talk sports right here on Region one.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Region one Sports the best in the West.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Region one Sports our second segment of our first show
back from break, as we deal with more heat the
next few days, and then it's not gonna quite feel
like fall, but much cooler temperatures when we get to
our you know, week one kickoff coming up this Friday.
Football season is here. The scrimmage is all done, and

(14:02):
we're gonna talk football here in just a moment. Probably
in our third segment, we'll try to catch up on
what's been going on in soccer as they've been underway
the last week or so, and then volleyball gets underway
here in a few weeks as well. It's all back.
Here's the other thing. I put out an open call
to coaches back a few weeks ago that if you

(14:23):
want to be on the show, to reach out. We've
had a few reach out. I apologize for those I
haven't been able to get back in touch with yet
because we've had a lot of things going on and
a lot of things that have distracted me, and of
course not starting the show last week really put us
behind on some things. But a few coaches reached out,
especially on the soccer side, which I'm really excited about

(14:43):
because it's always good to get some of those voices
on the show. But here's my open call to you
on the radio and on the podcast. If you're a coach, football, soccer, volleyball,
and you want to come on and talk about your program,
your team, your school, whatever it may be, your sport,
let's do it. And that number I gave you, that's
how we're going to do it. Because here's the other
cool thing about that phone number and that app. I

(15:06):
can record it. You don't even I don't have to
be in studio anymore. You don't have to like in
the past, basically we ask coaches to come in the studio,
and that was not always easy. Now you can listen
if you're in Paducah, if you're in the area, if
you've got time and you want to stop in and
record it live. It always sounds better and always goes better.
I'd love to have you in the studio, but now

(15:27):
I'm not handcuffed to recording you on a phone line
in the studio. If you can't talk until six o'clock
one evening and I'm free, we can do it. Then
we can you can call me on that number and
we can record, and then I can upload that to
the show the next day. It's it's amazing what technology
can do for you. So here's my open call again,
football coaches, soccer coaches, volleyball coaches. I'm going to be

(15:50):
reaching out to some personally, but i just want to
put that blanket out there that I've always said, and again,
if we're going to amp up our coverage for the
school year and ask for a little bit of help
of making sure we get these things covered, then don't
be a stranger. This is your platform as well. I
want this to be a place. Yes there's gonna be commentary,
Yes there's gonna be comments you agree with, don't agree with, whatever,

(16:13):
But I still want this to be an avenue in
a place where you have the you have the floor,
you have the mic, you can get word out to
people on what you want to get word out on.
Promote your kids, promote your team, promote whatever. This is
the best outlet to do that. You know, with a
lot of quote unquote traditional media again being kind of

(16:34):
handcuffed or and that coverage kind of dying down, you
have to you have to self cover. You have to
self promote anymore because there's fewer outlets and fewer ways
that word is getting out. Social media is great. Not
everybody follows your social media, right not not. People from

(16:54):
you know, Marshall County aren't necessarily following what's going on
in Ballad. People from Callaway County, they aren't necessarily keeping
up with what's happening at Paduka Tilman, following those Twitter pages,
following those Facebook pages. But a lot of those people
will tune into the show. We'll check on the media,
We'll check on you know, open up the newspaper, turn

(17:16):
on the TV, like so, this is how you reach
those people. This is how you get word out across
the region about Man. You ought to check out what's
going on over here, and again you can do that
by coming on this show, open invitation, and by the way, forever,
you know, if a month from now you're like, something
happens and you want to come on, let me know,

(17:37):
we'll make it happen again. That number is two seven
oh five, three four forty three oh eight, so we'll
make it happen. All right, Well, let's talk about a
little football, because week one is upon us. It is here.
We're excited, and it always, as always kicks off with
a bunch of fun rivalry games. I mean, you've got

(17:59):
Battle of the Birds, and by the way, maybe it's
the Graves County and in me maybe it's the I
bleed blue. I don't think this is necessarily gonna just
automatically swing back to Mayfield Graves. Got it done last season,
good senior group, a lot of grit and determination at Graves.
So at a home game to get it done. Yes,

(18:19):
this series swings back to Mayfield Friday night. Yes, this
is traditionally Mayfield series. They've owned it. I get it.
I don't think it's a give me now. We'll do
predictions later this week, but I'm actually looking forward to
this game. Always tough to go to War Memorial. But
if you're a Graves County Eagle, you bleed blue like

(18:40):
I do, you should be excited for an opportunity to
go there and get a win at your rival's place.
You got it at home last Year's sweet, How sweet
it was, But how sweet it'll be to do that
on the road. So you've got Mayfield Graves on Friday night.
You've got it as always. Tillman and then McCracken County. Listen, folks,

(19:03):
I think McCracken County is gonna be one of those teams.
And this is something we'll talk about more on Wednesday.
I think when you talk about teams that can improve
and will improve, I think McCracken County is on that list.
I think this is another step forward for the Mustangs.
This was a team last year that won. What I

(19:23):
gotta go back and look see it again. I'm out
of practice, I'm out of shape. This is a team
last season that won and I got it. I want
to get the official record here. It is six and six,
five hundred ball club last year. Can they beat Tillman
this week? I don't know. We'll talk about that more
later this week. But this is a team that I

(19:43):
think will be more competitive, will be better, will be
a tougher out for a lot of opponents. So don't
sleep on the Mustangs. Don't sleep on that game coming
up this week. Here's another one I'm kind of looking
forward to, kind of looking forward to mar Marshall County
this season. So I'm kind of looking at Marshall County

(20:05):
and I'm kind of looking at their schedule and even
though they don't start off with this big Battle of
the Birds rivalry, and they don't start off with, you know,
Rumble on the River, and they're not a part of
a Cross Town Classic, which is not this week, by
the way, I get it. But I'm just proving a
point here of rivalries. If you're talking about Week one
football that I'm looking forward to, obviously, Battle of the

(20:27):
Birds that's number one for me. Rumble on the River
number two. Anything concerning Marshall County. I think the Marshalls
are going to be better this season. They start off
with Critney County, Crittin County. A good football team, right,
a good football team. But again, and I've said this
in the past, and I'll say it in the future,
and i'll say it in the present. If you're Marshall

(20:49):
County and you are trying to get your first winning
football season, I won't even bring it up. But it's
been a minute, it's been over a decade. It's been
almost two decades at the time point since you've had
a winning season. If you're trying to get over that
hump and cross that divide and climb that mountain in
whatever cliche I can throw out, right, now you gotta

(21:12):
beat the Crittin Counties of the world. I don't care
how good they are in their class. You're five A football,
they're two A. You gotta get these wins at home
a two A football team again, don't care how good
they've been in the past or how good they're predicted
to be. This is where it starts because if you
look at Marshall County schedule, and this is something we're

(21:33):
gonna do on Wednesday, We're gonna go team by team
and look at their opponents and try to kind of
predict what their season might be. But if you look
at Marshall's schedule, you've got it in front of you.
Critton County Week one again. If you're gonna get over
that hump, these are the teams you've got to beat.
Caudwall County on the road. In Week two, you gotta
beat Cardwall County. They've been down the last few years.

(21:55):
A little bit better last year, but down Trigg County's
been down. You gotta go on the road and beat Trigg.
Murray's gonna be hard this year. Mulnberg at Madisonville North Hopkins.
That's not like these to me, are not wins. These
are where you run into It's gonna be tough. Milnberg
County is a win. Owens Borrow not happening. Graves County.
I think you can play on better, but they're still
better than you. Apollo's really good this year. So if

(22:18):
you look at Marshall's schedule, you've got the first three
weeks to get some things done to put you in
a position to win five or six games. But you're
not getting there if you lose one of these first
three Critney County, Cadwell County, Trigg County, you should be
three and oh, honestly, if you're gonna take that leap,
you gotta be three. And oh, Milnberg County, there's your
fourth win. Callaway at the end of the season, there's

(22:39):
your fifth win. Then you've just got to still a
win from somebody else in the meantime. It's gonna be tough.
I don't know who that would be, but you gotta
do it somewhere. But I think you've got five wins
on your schedule with a chance, with a chance to
get over that hump and win six or seven games
and have that first winning season. So I'm looking at

(23:01):
at week one for Marshall County. Not in the same
breath as a Battle of the Birds, not in the
same scope as a Rumble on the River or any
of those matchups, but more as a curiosity and with
some questions, and I want to get some answers, and
I think we can get that Friday night with Marshall
County and Crickneon County. How about Murray and Apollo in

(23:23):
week one? Yes, how about that. Apollo is projected and
preseason ranked in the top ten in their class in
five A football, which is amazing. They've come a long
way in the last few years. But they got some dudes,
they got a quarterback, they got some receivers, they got
some skill guys. They're good. Murray is a top three

(23:44):
team in every ranking you look at in Class three
A football. That's right, three A football. Don't forget. They
moved up and they play Apollo on the road on Friday.
Go get you some Murray. Good for you, Good for
coach Cunningham. Let's go get it done. Murray plays Apollo,
then Gray Callowei County, then Graves County in week three.

(24:05):
Two of their first three matchups. Stellar. Stellar. So I'm
looking for Murray on Friday night. Can you go get
it done? Can you prove you're a top five to
three a football team? Go knock off a five a
football team that's ranked in the top ten. Keep it
close if you lose? Is it club like? There's a
lot of those things again that I'm looking forward to

(24:27):
with Murray on Friday. Callawai County's got a new coach.
They got Webster County on Friday. Webster has not been
great in the past. Were we at Callowei County? Looking
forward to that. Ballard Memorial had a great year last year.
Lost some dudes, loss some dudes. Can they muster up
some similarities from a year ago? Paduca Tillman, I talked

(24:49):
to a crack in Paduca Tilman again, loss some dudes.
Still got a ton of talent, still projected to make
some noise. How you're going to look this weekend? So
it's a lot of fun things to look forward to
in week number one, and I look forward to the
commercial break. Gotta take that. We'll be back. We've got
more of This is Region one sports.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
And there were some things going on in sports today
that will make your brain fall out of your skull.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
You were listening to the Region one Sports Report on
ninety nine to five the fan.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Region on Sports as we row along on your Monday
edition of the show and our first episode back Man,
it feels good to be back. I've told you, boy,
it's therapy for me just to come in the studio
and talk. It does disrupt my normal routine when I
take the summer hiatus, when I take the summer break,
my normal routine at work becomes I come in, get

(25:52):
here before well before six am, record the newscast that
you hear me on. If you listen to the radio
at all, you hear me. So I record those news
casts and I load them up so that they'll play
throughout the morning. And then about six am, I make
my coffee. Usually bring something in for breakfast, a chicken
and biscuit, you know, a cook bacon or eggs for

(26:14):
the night before and bringing in something. But I'll go
heat that up and then I'll set down from six
until six thirty and I'll have a nice little you know,
coffee and breakfast. I'll go check my email, I'll check
my Facebook, I'll check and I'll just kind of catch
up on anything any information I need to catch up
on about six thirty six point forty. You know, I
start planning out the rest of my morning. Here's the

(26:36):
things I need to get done today, here's the order
in which I'm gonna do them. Here's let's start working
on some things. And that's kind of I just ease
into my morning when I record the show. I'm making
coffee recording news and I'm like trying to scarf down
whatever breakfast all before six am so that I can
have plenty of time to record this that it throws

(26:56):
me off. It really does disrupt my calm, peaceful, easy
easing into my morning kind of routine. But you know
what I'm here for it. Let's go. Let's go so
a socond earlier about you know, so some things to
look forward to in week one. By the way, I
hope this is true. Traditionally the Rumble on the River

(27:19):
has been played on a Saturday night. They tend to
want to steal the spotlight for themselves. Right now, it's
listed on Friday nights, So we're gonna go ahead and
take that at face value. So Friday night you get
Battle of the Birds and Rumble. Oh man, that's gonna
divide some people there are people who go to both
those games not gonna get to do that this year.
Which one's gonna be the better game? I think it's

(27:41):
Mayfield and Graves. I think listen, you know reports are
Murray and Mayfield had one heck of a scrimmage, so
you know, Mayfield, you know, I think is gonna be
good this year. I think as always, they're like I
think they're preseason ranked number one in most publications in
class to a certainly a contender each and every year,

(28:03):
as they expect to be and should be. It's at home.
They got everything they need. Graves graduated, a bunch of guys, graduated,
some skill guys, gret you know thin on the line.
You hear all that stuff. But I'm telling you, I
think Graves is gonna be better than expected. Here's the
crazy thing with Graves's schedule. Their schedule is amazing. There

(28:25):
is no off week, there is no you know, as
a broadcaster, especially when that's your team, it's easy. You know,
the last few years, you could look at the schedule
and you could go, hell, you know, week three, we're
gonna have a running clock. Because as a broadcaster, you
got to prepare for that. You got you gotta almost
at least try to predict that a little bit. Don't
be caught by surprise. Prep what you need to do

(28:49):
on the on the broadcast, because you've got to prepare
for a running clock. You got to make sure you
get your commercials played, your sponsors are covered. You know,
you don't want to get caught off guard. So you'd
look at the schedule and you would go now. Week
two is a blowout, Week three is a blowout. Week
seven's all blowout. This schedule this season for Graves County.
They may be as good or even better than last season,

(29:12):
but this schedule is gonna be hard to figure that out.
Mayfield at Mayfield, They got Tilman at home in week two,
Murray on the road in week three. Mayfield is preseason
ranked number one in two A, Mayfield is preseason top
two to three in four A, and Murray is top
two to three in three A. That's Graves County's first

(29:33):
three weeks, not just good teams in some of those
other classes, the best teams in two A, three A,
and four A football. Then they have Union County at home.
Union County always a traditional power in three A football.
In fact, they are expected to be the Thorn and
Murray side in three A. So again the best teams

(29:56):
in their class. Owensborough at home, that's a district game.
Owensborough preseason ranked number two in Class five A. Madisonville
is a top seven team in Class five A. That's week.
The next week Apollo is ranked in the top ten.
Then you get to Marshall County, who I think will
be better. That's at Marshall. That is not a give me.

(30:18):
They should win, They've they've been on quite the heater
themselves against the Marshalls. But Marshall's gonna be better. Miilnberg
County at home. That's a give me. That's my as
a broadcaster. October twenty fourth, I know we're gonna probably
be on cruise control on the broadcast. And then McCracken
County to close out the year at home. McCracken's gonna
be better, and that is not gonna be easy. This

(30:41):
is a very good schedule. This is a very tough schedule,
and Graves could be a better football team than last year,
but might not have the win total from last year.
I mean, this is gonna be a tough schedule to navigate.
I got faith in them, but it's it's gonna be
a tough schedule. So I like what Graves is doing.
I like you again, better football game Friday night, Graves

(31:02):
in Mayfield. I think it's gonna be a good game.
I don't think this just automatically swings back into Mayfield's favor,
although they will be the favorite. And I don't think,
you know, Graves is all that far down from what
people have kind of projected. Graves is not getting any
love in the top ten. None of their players got
voted on as top ten players in the class, which
is insane. You got one of the best defensive backs

(31:24):
in five A football, he didn't get votes in the
as one of the best defensive Like are you knt?
He led the state and interceptions. So I think Graves
is not falling down too far from what people kind
of expect. And I'm looking forward to Mayfield and Graves
on Friday, Battle of the Birds and then Graves's schedule
like it's just gonna be good football week after week

(31:45):
after week. Paduka Tilman starts off with McCracken County, then
they play My Eagles, then they play Mayfield as always,
and again, you're gonna know everything you need to know
about Tilman. In the first three weeks. Tillman just absolutely
scorched earth every last year. I mean, they just whatever
they wanted to do, they got it done. I don't
think that will be the case this season with this

(32:06):
Tilman team, but I still think they're going to be very, very,
very difficult to beat. I like their first four weeks McCracken, Graves, Mayfield, Madisonville.
I like it. Once they get into district play, they
know they've got that thing locked up. They just do.
They's just not gonna be much of a challenge there,

(32:26):
and that's okay. The first four weeks be good for
uh Paduca. Tillman talked about Murray Listen. I like Murray
not backing down from a challenge. Apallo Callaway, we talked
about that. Graves County. Then they play Marshall County and
again that's five A football. I think you know they're
projected to you know them in Union County. That's that's

(32:50):
the two in that district in three A and we'll see.
I like Murray, I've been told they are, they're good.
They're big upfront, they've got the skills. Returning guys great
coaching look out for the Tigers this season. Calloway County's
got a new coach. I think they've got an appropriate schedule.
You play Webster County in week one. Webster's not a

(33:11):
world beater. That's three a football that's okay, all right,
it's at home, let's go. You've got Murray in week two.
Hate to tell you, Murray's got your number pretty good
this year. And then you go to Fulton County in
week three, and again these are you know, ballad in
week four. Like I like this schedule for Calloway County.
Once they get into district played, you know, maybe they

(33:33):
can still a win or two close out with Tilman
and Marshall. I don't think those will go their way.
I do like the fact the Marshall game is the
last game of the year for them now this time.
And then you look at you know, McCracken County. We
talked about them earlier. You got Tilman in week one,
you go to Logan County in week two. Logan County
is traditionally a pretty good football team. They kind of

(33:54):
hang their hat on being a pretty good football team.
A little down last season. They only won four games
last year. But you know, we'll kind of see where
they are. But I think this is a good, nice
way to get into the season for McCracken County. It's
a long road trip, but you go Tilman and Logan
County in week two, then you got Northeast Clarksville, Tennessee
in week three. Did they play last year? I feel

(34:14):
like they did. Man Again, I've slept a minute since
last football season. They did not. I feel like I've
seen that team pop up before. So we'll see. That's
a home game in week three. Then they've got Mayfield
in week four, in Union County in week five, then
Murray the next week. I mean that is you know, again,
you start off with Tillman and then you probably have

(34:34):
winnable football games in Logan County and Northeast and then Mayfield,
Union County, Murray. You might be the underdog in all
three of those matchups. I like you against Hopkinsville. I
like you against Christian County. I don't know if I
like you as much against Henderson County. I don't like
you as much against Graves County, but I do listen.
I do think McCracken County will be an improved football team.

(34:57):
This is a program. It's amazing to think about it.
The way things started at McCracken when they consolidated. It's
amazing to think this is a program that went to
a two win season a couple of years in a row,
but they bounced back with six wins last year. Can
they get over that hump? Can they get that seventh
win this season? Man? That schedule's tough. We'll see, we'll
talk about it more on Wednesday. But I do like

(35:17):
their schedule. Man. The middle of that schedule is pretty tough.
It's pretty tough, but you're six A football. It's hard
to You don't have as many teams in your district.
So you're playing Murray much later in the year than
anybody else would play Murray. You're playing Union County much
later in the year than anybody else would play. So
I do like the fact that they did schedule up

(35:39):
in a lot of ways in that part of the schedule.
What else we got, you know, I haven't mentioned Fulton County.
I talked about them briefly while ago Fulton County. I
don't think anybody gets more out of their kids than
Coach Bridges gets out of Fulton County. To have such
a small roster, be such a small school, and so
dependent on having one or two just super talented kids.

(36:00):
I think they get the most out of what they've gotten.
Of course, they play a lot of teams out of Tennessee,
you know, being where they are. I don't blame them.
Fulton County was a team last season that won just
one game. They beat Callaway County pretty handily. I think
this is a Fulton County team. Ballard's down again this year.
Like there's some games on this schedule. You know, they

(36:20):
gave up a lot of points last year, but they
had some games they scored some points. We'll see how
it goes. But always interesting to see how Fulton County
kind of you know, it feels like they're feast or famine.
It feels like they win five games or one game.
So you know, if they either win six games or
one game like their feast or famine, we'll see what
they've got this season. But I again give credit where
credits due. Coach Bridges gets the most out out of

(36:43):
that situation. And then I keep saying Ballard is a
little bit down this year. I heard they did lose
some transfers. This is a program. I talked about them
a few years ago. You just got to get numbers.
You just got to get dudes in the locker room.
And it looks like the roster is about where it
was a handful of years ago. Remember, not that long ago,

(37:04):
Ballard Memorial was scoring sixty points a game and winning
six or seven games a season. It can be done there,
but you gotta have dudes playing football. They just haven't
had guys that have come out to play football the
last few years. So we'll see how that goes. But
I do know we'll see what's going with Ballard. Anyway.
We are running out of time. I know, it's a shocker.

(37:27):
We're running out of time. We'll get into soccer on Wednesday.
