This is the Region one Sports Report with Brian York
on ninety nine to five The Fab.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
And Away we go on your Wednesday edition of the show.
It is a Wednesday, October twenty second edition of the
Region one Sports Report. I'm Brian Yorke and as always,
you can get in touch with us on our social
media pages. Just search us on X on Facebook, on Instagram,
or you can give us a text. You can you
can text us two seven oh five three four forty
three oh eight two seven oh five three four forty

(00:37):
three oh eight. So how are you on a Wednesday? Someday? Someday?
How are you doing? Halfway through? Just hold on tight
a few more days. The weekend is here, Football Friday
is here, and and just so much to look forward
to to get through this work week. So so hopefully
you're doing well. Chilly again today. I got the sweatpants,
the sweatshirt, the toboggo got, I got it, all the

(01:00):
gloves on this morning. I don't know. I mean, listen,
it's cold, I get it. It's forty five right now.
Actually it's forty three right now, and they're saying, you know,
I looked up. I always ask my device. I don't
want to say it, but I always ask my device, hey,
what's it going to be at like nine am, and
it said it, and I was like, that's still cold,
that's not warm. So much cooler day today though the

(01:21):
high is only reaching about sixty nine today, with sunny skies,
it'll be nice. Look. I love that. I love sixty
five to seventy two. That's the sweet spot, Sonny, and
sixty five to about seventy two. Anything over that to
me starts getting hot. So that's the sweet spot. I'm
all for it. Fall weather finally here, and I like it.
It's my favorite time of year. You know, Christmas is

(01:44):
obviously the best time of year, my absolute favorite time
of year, but this is right up there. I don't
like fall. You know that. If you're a longtime listener
of the show, you know I'm not a big fall fan.
I don't celebrate the seasonal change because I'm like, we're
just celebrating winter and gray and cloudy and death looking
at trees and like, it's not pretty. Winter's not pretty.

(02:04):
I don't like celebrating the oncoming of winter. But I
do like a Halloween. I do like October. I don't
like listen. The other thing, I don't like scary movies.
I'm a when you sit down and you say, all right,
what movies are you watching for Halloween? For me, it's Ghostbusters,
the entire series, except for that thing that came out
in twenty sixteen. I'll skip that one. But I'll watch

(02:26):
all four Ghostbuster movies, thank you for being four of them.
I'll even watch the real Ghostbusters cartoons this time of year.
Why not. That's what I grew up on. That was
Saturday Morning cartoon at its finest. So I'll watch some
of that. Ernest Scared Stupid, Yes, please, I'll go. I
watch Ernest Scared Stupid. That's a that's a Halloween classic.
You know, more movies like that, less less scary, less slasher. Sorry,

(02:50):
it's just me. I think the only I think. I
think I've said this before. I think the only two
movies that I've watched start to finish now. When I
was a kid, I used to I saw the Chucky movie.
Movies shouldn't have. I had my little buddy, and watching
Chucky just ruin that experience. I think I saw the
Leprechan movies. I'm pretty sure I did. I saw Children
of the corn I've seen not Mary on Elms Street.

(03:11):
I've seen Halloween just not my thing. I watched them
as a kid. I don't know why. I really don't
know why. It really explains a lot, but my favorite
ones are the fun ones. My favorite ones are, like
I said, Ghostbusters and Earnest Scared Stupid, and the Adams Family,
Adams Family Values. It's great sequel, by the way, it's
a great sequel. That's more my speed this time of year.

(03:31):
But I do like Halloween. I do like it a lot.
I do like Fall for the sports that we play
in the fall, and we do have you know, soccer
has sort of wrapped up McCracken County. We'll get to
the Lady Mustang's in a moment. Volleyball district play is underway.
We'll get to some of that in a moment. The
website right now is not working, So right now as
I record this pre seven am, KHSAA has kind of

(03:55):
been down. It's not working, and even when it does work,
it's not working fast enough to do a show. So
I'll get to all the scores and all of those
things here in a moment. We'll kind of get a
recap when we can get that working. But we do
have McCracken County soccer to talk about as they're in
the state tournament. We do have volleyball in the district tournament,
so we'll get to that when we can get to
that in a moment. We also have two more weeks

(04:18):
of the regular season for football. I cannot believe it.
Two more weeks of the regular season for football. Last
week for most teams of district play. You know some
of the highlights coming into this week. You've got Fulton County,
believe it or not, they're playing for a district title.
They will face Russellville on Friday night. Now again, you know,

(04:39):
you look at Fulton County. They are a two and
six team, don't matter. They're two to zero in district play.
Russellville is three and five on the season, They're unbeaten
in district play. Something's gonna give this week as Fulton
County and Russellville play, and I think it's the last
Fulton County game of the season. I know they had
Tree County on the schedule for the last game of

(05:00):
the year, but that has been canceled. Don't know why,
but yeah, this is it. It all comes down to
this and man, Fulton County can legitimately have a rough
start to the season. They've scored, We've talked about their offense,
but all that matters is what you do in district
play and getting to the playoffs. And they've got a
shot at least the two seed in the playoffs, so
they've got a shot to at least set them up

(05:22):
to win a playoff game or two or three. How
about that for Fulton County. So that's sort of a
highlight game this week, and then you've got other games.
You've got, you know, Graves this week, they've got Bulnberg County.
Miilanberg County's much improved this season. They have a better
record than Graves County right now. They're four and four

(05:42):
Graves County two and six Graves County right now, holding
onto that fourth spot of the district. They win this week,
they wrap that up. Obviously, they take care of business,
they control their own destinies my point, But if they lose,
it goes to one of those weird RPI tie breaker things,
and you don't want That's big game this week for
the Eagles again, playing a much improved Mulenberg County team

(06:04):
team who comes in with a better record. That's one
of the highlight games this week. McCracken County, they go
to Henderson County. McCracken County has turned it on. They
are doing some things here in district play. They've got
a shot as they go to Henderson County to wrap
up their district McCracken four and four on the season,
Henderson four and four, and I know a lot of

(06:25):
McCracken fans are feeling like, oh, we got Henderson, They're
a little down. Henderson's still good and you got to
go to their place. So that's gonna be one week
keeping onyd So right out of the gate, I just
named three that I think are very very worthy of
looking out for this week. Then you've got some of
the other typical maybe blowout games. You've got Mayfield and

(06:45):
Fort Campbell, you have Paduka Tilman and Calloway County. Does
is Callay County have sung your praises this week? It's
not your week? And then Murray will look to stay
unbeaten on the regular season, and they will because they
play Hopkins County Central, who not good. So you've got
that one to look forward to. I guess if you're
Murray and then Ballard Memorial again. It's just it's been

(07:08):
a tough year for Ballard. They lost the you know,
got transfers in last season, those guys transferred out for
this season, and just what a difference it's made. It
really has, and it's unfortunate because once a proud program,
once a very successful program, especially for the size of
the school. You got to go back almost now nearly
a decade. It was the mid twenty teens, you know,

(07:30):
twenty fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen. They were scoring points and
they were they were winning football games. But the numbers,
the program was healthy. They had good numbers for the
size of school that they are. The roster size was good.
It's a little down down it has been for the
last few years. They've got Kaverna this week. Ballard winless

(07:50):
on the season, Coverna won in six. Now Kaverna has
to is that at no It's at Coverna, So gonna
be tough again for the Bombers this week. So that's
the schedule. That's what you have again. I think our highlights,
I think the games you should be looking at as
your sort of main event games this week McCracken, Henderson, Graves,

(08:11):
Muhlenberg just because of the playoff implications, and then Fulton
County and Russellville for that district title. Those are sort
of the highlight games, and we're going to take a
break and we come back. Hopefully the website is working.
It looks like it's starting to. We'll have score recaps
from Monday and Tuesday of all the other sports going on,
and we'll break down those football matchups when we come back.

(08:32):
This is Region one.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Sports, Region one Sports in for the Deep Dive.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Reagion one Sports. As we move along on your Wednesday
edition of the show. The website was not working earlier,
it is now. So let's try to get some scores
and get caught up from what happened on Monday and tuesdays,
shall we. So let's go back and we'll start with volleyball.
You know, we'll go District Bond District and get caught
up on what's happened Monday and Tuesday, which I think
we've got all of our champions declared. I think all
the championships are done. So let's look at it. District

(09:09):
Bond District. In District one, you had Carlile County over
Fulton County in the first round three nothing. You had
Hickman County over Fulton County three nothing. I'm sorry, you
had Carlole County over Fulton City three nothing, Hickman County
over Fulton County three nothing. That's set up Carlile County
and Hickman County for the district title and Carlisle County
winning the District three two over Hickman County. That is

(09:32):
first district volleyball in the second district. This is of course,
I mean, you could probably guess it's McCracken County's district.
You probably know how this went. You had McCracken County
in the first round taking on Saint Mary, beating them
three sets to none. You had CCA beating Paduca Tillman
three nothing. And then McCracken and CCA in the championship
last night, McCracken County moving on as district champs once again.

(09:56):
Three ZIP over CCA, so three sets to none for
the Lady Mustangs to win District two. So Carlisle on
District one, McCracken in District two. In District three, that's
my Lady Eagles district. That's my Lady Eagles District. On Monday,
you had Graves County having to take on Mayfield just
to get to the championship game. A three team district.

(10:18):
Ballard was the top seed. They were awaiting Graves and Mayfield.
Graves beat Mayfield Battle of the Birds in tournament time,
always fun and it was three nothing, three sets to
none for Graves County. Then you moved into the championship
game where there was an upset. That's right, there was
Graves County beating Ballard at their place, the top seat

(10:38):
of the district three sets to none. How about that?
So the Lady Eagles take District three and then last
but not least, District four. That's where Marshall County resides.
Marshall County been one of the better teams in the
region all season. On Monday, in the first round, you
had Marshall County take on CFS, a once powerhouse of

(10:59):
volleyball on the rear and Marshall County winning three sets
to none. Calloway County battled Murray and Acrosstown Classic. They won,
Calloway County winning three sets to none. That set up
Marshall and callowe in the championship. Marshall your district champ
three sets to none over the Lady Lakers. So there's
your scores from volleyball. Your district champions are Carlisle County,

(11:20):
McCracken County, Graves County, and Marshall County. Your runners up
are Hickman County, CCA Ballard Memorial in Calloway County. That's
how the district or the regional tournament will be a
sort of set up. You kind of get an idea
of what the matchups could be from there. All right,
that was volleyball. We do have soccer. Let me go

(11:42):
back and find the scores. Let me go back and
get reset here again. It's been chaos this morning, when
websites don't work, scores don't come up, when things aren't
going well. It's just it's just fun. So McCracken County
making it to the Elite eight. They win their first
round soccer game. They took down Greenwood two and they
now advanced to the Elite eight to take on Sacred Heart.

(12:04):
So Greenwood in that two to one game, we got stats,
we'll take a look at them. You had Maddy Ledgerwood.
She ended up with a goal Lucy Farmery ended up
with a goal, so a junior and a freshman scoring
for McCracken County. So if you thought they were good
this year, I mean they were. They weren't the best
team most of the year in the region, but they
were good. They got a lot of talent coming back

(12:24):
next year Ledgerwood Armory both getting goals, both underclassmen. So
they win two one. They take on Sacred Heart. Now
that game will be Saturday. So this Saturday they will
face Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart is really good, twenty one
to two to one on the season, ten and zero
in their region. You know, they come out of that
seventh region. They've played teams like cal and Bullet East

(12:48):
and you get the idea assumption. I mean, they're it's
a good soccer program. It's gonna be tough for McCracken County.
But hey, into the Elite eight and McCracken has been
the underdog and basically the last three or four games,
So why not why not McCracken County, that should be
why not us go get it done on That game
will be Saturday now for the boys. Now for the boys, Unfortunately,

(13:13):
McCracken County Mustangs. The boys side did not go well
in their first round game in the state tournament. They
fell to Bowling Green. It went to the penalty kick shootout.
So a very good, very competitive, very tight soccer match
on Monday and Bowling Green winning that one one nial
with it going to the shutout. So McCracken County's boys

(13:35):
season an incredible run. Again, Murray was the favorite all year.
You could argue McCracken was the second best team all
season in the regular season. Get to tournament, Tom, McCracken
County runs through the regional tournament. They're your regional tournament champs,
go to the state tournament, losing unfortunately in the first
round on Monday to Bowling Green one nil in penalty
kicks and shootouts. Tough, tough way to end the season

(13:58):
for mercracken County. Now they lose a lot of seniors
off this team, but it's McCraken County, a lot of
good underclassmen, a lot of good talent still on the rise,
and so they will as always still be a threat
in the region again next season. So those are your scores.
That's what's going on. Volleyball advancing to the regional tournament.
Now we await on that. Lady Mustang's advanced to the

(14:19):
Elite eight. They play Saturday, and then we still have football.
So that's that's where we are in the fall sports calendar. Yeah,
it's a lot of fun, all right. So I gave
you the football schedules earlier. I told you what I
thought the main event games were, So let's break them down.
We'll start with those. Of course, on Friday, we'll kind
of do this again. We'll have more of a fun discussion.

(14:40):
We'll give you the big keys to the games and
the final picks and all of that. But let's look
at these games. Let's look at what makes them what
they are going to be this week, what makes them
to highlight the main event games. And by the way,
I forgot Marshall County earlier. Marshall plays Apollo. That is
a massive game this week. Marshall is three to five,

(15:00):
four and four. Apollo is right now sitting in the
second seed of the district. Unbelievable run for Apollo. So
Apollo right now in a good spot. Marshall trying to
salvage their season, trying to get to that. We've talked
about it that fourth win that just seems to have
eluded them the last few years, maybe even a fifth win,
and they still got a shot to do that with

(15:20):
these last few weeks. Keep turning that program around, keep building.
So that's what they've got. But those sort of main
event games. For me, it starts with Fulton County and Russellville.
Fulton County in Russellville playing for a title, playing for
the top seed in the district. As we said, the
Pilots two wins on the season, but it's become in

(15:41):
the last two weeks. This will be their last football
game of the regular season. They'll get an extra bye
week going into the playoffs. They at least right now
are no going to be no worse than second seed
in their district, but got a shot to play for
that regular season title. The Pilots on the season, they
have moved the football, They've done good things on that
side of the football field. The score, I mean, even

(16:01):
in their losses, you've got a forty two to thirty
eight loss, you've got a fifty seven to thirty four loss.
They put up thirty four against Lake County and their
wins against Kaverna forty two to forty against Ballard they
scored forty four points. That side of the field has
really not been the concern. Their numbers on paper look good.
Two hundred and seven yards passing per game, eighteen touchdowns,
ten interceptions for their junior quarterback. Their run game a

(16:24):
lot of sophomores on that list, but as a team
they average one hundred and fifty six yards rushing with
fourteen rushing touchdowns. The big senior is Zaiden Kenny. We
talked about him Monday. The senior receiver is one hundred
and five yards per game receiving with eleven reception for touchdowns.
This is a good offense for the sized school and

(16:45):
for the class they are in, and especially for the
district they are in. Their opponent Russellville the Panthers, in
case you were wondering, they've only got three wins in
the season. They just happen to play Hopkins County Central,
which is not a good football team, but they've got
similar wins. They've put up a few more points against
Ballard in Kaverna, but they also gave up points to Ballard.

(17:05):
Fulton County did not, and they gave up almost the
same amount of points to Kaverna. So this is a
very even, very close, very good looking matchup on paper.
It's at Russellville that worries me a little bit for
Fulton County, long road trip go to Russellville, gotta go
on the road to do it. Got to be a

(17:26):
third place home field advantage that does count if it
if two teams in a neutral site, would be a
fifty to fifty coin flip. I think it's at least
fifty five percent favoring the team that gets to play
at home. I think I think that's where that flip lands.
It favors them about five maybe ten percent more of

(17:47):
the time when they get to go home versus being
fifty to fifty on a neutral site. But the Panthers
one hundred and sixty three yards passing per game, fourteen touchdowns,
eight picks one and ten yards rushing per game with
ten rushing towns. Those numbers aren't as good as Fulton Counties.
I think this is going to be a shootout. That
Kaverna score. You know, Kaverna. It was fifty five, forty

(18:08):
two Russellville over Kaverna. It was forty two forty Fulton
County over Kaverna. I think you're going to see something
like that. This game is gonna be at least in
the thirties for both teams, maybe into the forties. Both
teams put up points, both teams struggle to stop the
other team from putting up points. It's gonna be a shootout.
It favors Russellville because they're at home. But my goodness,

(18:30):
what a year for Fulton County. Go get it done
this week. All right, let's take a break, got to
We'll come back plenty more.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
It's Region one, the Region one Sports Report on all
major podcast platforms, and ninety nine to five of the fan.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Region on sports as we roll along here on your
Wednesday edition of the show. So we talked Fulton County
and Russellville. Other big matchups this week, mccracky County at Henderson.
This is a big one this week, McCracken County and Henderson.
They've got an opportunity. Two district foes, two district rivals,
two teams that seem to always be finding each other
for this spot in the regular season and going into

(19:14):
the playoffs. Both teams very similar in their record, both
teams four and four going into this matchup again on
a neutral field. I really like McCracken County at home.
I really like McCracken County. This game's at Henderson, this
game's at Henderson. Let's look at the colonels. Let's look
at their numbers so far this season. We'll talk more
about the overall picture so far this season four Henderson County.

(19:38):
They don't throw the football a lot. Their starting quarterback,
Brody Belt is ninety four yards per game, seven touchdowns,
five interceptions. As a team, they're at like one oh
eight a game with none touchdowns and six interceptions. That's
not their strength. They run the football one hundred and
seventy one yards per game with nineteen rushing touchdowns. They

(19:59):
do have one one really good receiver. That's kind of
the thing. Avan Baxter is their top receiver. He has
four hundred and two yards receiving on the season, five touchdowns.
Second to him is a kid is Harris with one
seventy big gap there, big gap there. So you know
kind of what they want to do, and they you know,
they traditionally kind of run that. It's hard to scout offense,

(20:21):
a lot of options in it, a lot of fakes
and counters and things like that to kind of keep
you off balance, and for them it's always worked this season.
Their wins are over Henry Clay Davis County, who's actually
not good. That was a really low seven to six win.
They beat a bad Central Hardened team. They beat a
bad Christian County team. That's where their wins are coming from.

(20:43):
They lost to Hopkinsville thirty one to twenty nine. So
they lost to Hopkinsville again thirty one to twenty nine.
McCracken County beat Hopkinsville in a shootout fifty nine to
fifty six. I think that's that's the game that tells
the story. Henderson County is not as good as they
normally are, but they're always good at home, and they

(21:06):
do play such a different style. It can give you,
it can give you fits. McCracken County on the season
wins over Northeast that's Clarksvilltonnessee. They beat Union County handily
on the road. They beat Hopkinsville on the road fifty
nine to fifty six. They beat Christian County sixty three
to twenty. They should have you look at their stats
so far this season. Very different than Henderson County. They're

(21:27):
gonna want to throw the football Maddix O'Neill has put
it together since early in the season as he's got
healthy and turned things around. They took off, they took off.
I mean you look at his numbers now, two hundred
and six yards passing per game for him, sixteen forty
eight on the season, twenty two touchdowns, five picks. Pretty
good stuff there for the senior QB pretty good. His

(21:50):
run game has helped him out as well, Anddon Newman
has come on strong here as a senior. He's got
ninety eight yards per game, ten touchdowns. As a team
they're at won sixty six per game with night team
rushing touchdowns, and he's got a pretty good receiving corps.
Jude Lanier and Jakari Matcham have both been pretty good
for him, ninety six a game for Matcham, Lanier with

(22:11):
seventy three a game. So the offense is clicking, it's moving,
it's doing its thing. The defense at toimes, they're not
as concerned about it because they just know that when
they've got your number, they've got your number on offense,
they're going to go outscore you. We're going to have
to on Friday night again at Henderson gives Henderson a
slight slight more probability of winning the game than if

(22:32):
it was on a neutral site or at McCracken. But
I think on a neutral site, McCracken County is the
better team. On a neutral site, McCracken County wins this game,
so that counts for something as they go on the
road this week. That's one of the other highlight games
this week. Then you've got Graves County and Muhlnberg County.
Graves and Muhlnberg. Why because Graves controls their destiny. After

(22:53):
one of the rougher seasons in school history, really their
worst season since two thousand and three, Graves has a
chance to salvage it out. They've got a chance. I mean,
they do have McCracken next week, and that's not going
to be easy. But they've got a chance to get
to a fourth win. They've got a chance to go
into the playoffs and maybe, although certainly an underdog, win
in the playoffs. Turning it around. Offense has looked much

(23:17):
much better the last few games. You know, one of
the coaches told me after the game on Friday, not great,
but better, and really and truly that's all you can
ask for at this time of the season. Milinberg County
is a good football team. Miliberg County could come in
Friday night and disrupt what Graves County thinks they have
in the bag with that fourth seed in the district.

(23:38):
Miliberg County four and four on the year. Now, a
lot of those wins came early, a lot of those
wins came against lesser opponents. But this is a Milnberg
County team that for the last few years has struggled
in every area, defense, offense, to move the football. The
win column. Just it didn't matter who they played, they
weren't getting wins. And they're starting to build and starting
to turn things around there. And it's always been a

(23:59):
mystery to me. Amazing facilities, great school, there's money in
the community. They've got one of the nicer fields and
facilities that you're going to see in football within the
first four regions of this state. And they've just never
been good. Well, they're turning it around now. Now they
have lost their last four. As I said, they lost
to Apollo, but now that score looks pretty good. Apollo

(24:21):
is sitting with the second spot of the district. Mielnburg
County lost thirty four to twenty one. Now the problem
from Mielnberg, and we'll get into it in a moment,
is they do give up points, but they again they're better.
They lost to Marshall twenty three to twenty one. Madisonville
and Owensboro did to them what they should have done.
But this is still an improved Mustangs team and you
can't sleep on them. And by the way, what are

(24:41):
the odds you play the same mascot two weeks in
a row to end your season. If your Grave's County,
you got the Mustangs and the Mustangs, you know it
is what it is. You had the Marshalls, now the Mustangs.
Counties that start with an M and their mascot starts
with an M. I digress. Just little things that sidetracked
me in the But you look at Miliver County, you

(25:02):
look at what they do offensively, and again they don't
run a necessarily traditional offense. It can be tough to
defend at times. They tried to disguise thing and run
counters and do some different things to get the ball
down the field. But they throw the football at one
hundred and twelve yards per game, eight touchdowns, just one interception,
and they run the football at two hundred and five
yards per game with seventeen rushing touchdowns. This is an

(25:23):
offense that, obviously, to beat them, you take away the run,
but you got to respect the pass because they will
be able to pull that out on you if you
overload or if you do some things to truly take
that run game away. Here's the thing Graves's defense, I
ain't worried about it. I'm not worried about it. I mean,
they essentially they gave up a field goal to Marshall County,
the best drive Marshall had, honestly the best drive they

(25:45):
had all night. They drove the football down the field
and got a field goal. The touchdown Marshall scored came
on a reverse. So I'm not super worried or concerned
about Graves's defense. It has been very good all season
and really good and trick play. The key for four
Graves on Friday Night is going to be continue to

(26:06):
improve on offense, continue to move the football, continue to
make those leaps of improvement because they have. This was
a rough looking offense for most of the season. The
last few weeks. Against Apollo, they had their first game
of the year. They even got more than two hundred
yards a total offense last week against Marshall. They threw
the football well, they ran the football well. They did
a lot of good things. They continued to improve in

(26:27):
those areas overall in the season. You look at their
numbers at one hundred and one yards passing per game,
three touchdowns, eight interceptions, eighty two yards rushing per game
with ten rushing touchdowns. That's gotten better. Passing game has
gotten better. They've gotten Ty Cavot more involved, bodive A
Cassivic more involved. Wilson Thomas has been kind of a
home run hitter. It seems like he hasn't had many receptions,

(26:50):
but the ones he does seem to be big and
be for big gains. So the offense has improved. I
think they win this game. I think they win this
game by a couple of touchdowns at least, maybe more
or But this isn't gonna be the absolute give me
blowout that it's been the last few years. I think
this will be competitive, not close, but competitive more through

(27:10):
the night than it has in the past. So those
are your three heavyweight games this week. Those are your
three main events. The rest and we'll get into this
on Friday more detail because the website again it's been
so slow. It's just not working. But the rest of
these games, I think, are you go all talk and
you'll be all right, because they're gonna they're gonna be
some lopsided games outside of these three and that's it.

(27:32):
I mean, we're at the last two weeks the regular
season now basketball. I've had a lot of people ask
when does the basketball season coverage start? You know, they're
practicing now, we're getting ready. It's close. It's a month away, essentially,
about five weeks away from the regular season starting up. Well,
we'll get into our basketball previews in the second week
of the playoffs, well maybe even the first week of

(27:53):
the playoffs. We'll have a lot of teams we'll have
to talk about football wise in that first week of
the playoffs. But that doesn't mean we can't start talking basketball,
and we will. So we're about two weeks away from
really diving in and getting into some basketball previews. Now.
That doesn't mean we might not talk Cats Paul's rankings
next week. That doesn't mean we might not talk you
know what others are saying about basketball season. But as
far as what we have to say, as far as

(28:14):
what I need to say about Reagion one Sports and
Reaching one Basketball, We'll get into my thoughts and my previews,
and my predictions, my preseason rankings, my top ten to
watch players. We'll do all of that here in about
two weeks. It's gonna be fun. Though I'm excited for
basketball season. I'll give you this, I'll give you a hint.
I think on the boys side, yeah, okay, McCracken with Woodford,

(28:37):
they're gonna it's it's gonna be tough. They're gonna be
tough to take down this year. But I think outside
of that, there's gonna be some pri some surprise teams.
I think there's gonna be a lot of parody. I
think there's gonna be a lot of teams and a
lot of good and more competitive basketball most nights of
the regular season. On the girls side, I think people
are gonna sleep on like Craves County. I think everybody's

(28:57):
gonna annoint Callaway County and they should. They're gonna the
number one team for me spoiler going into the season.
But I wouldn't sleep on Graves certainly, still wouldn't sleep
on Marshall. I still think it's a three team race.
Can somebody else sneak into the conversation? That'll be interesting
to watch this year. Mayfield. I think Mayfield'll be in
that conversation this year. New coach, you know, coming in,

(29:17):
Coach Faust. He's got a very veteran team. Le May's
in her senior year. So I think on the girls side,
it's kind of a three team race. Mayfield sneaking into
the conversation, but Callaway's not the just to me, I
think they're the favorite certainly, but not the absolute end
all be all of the conversation. So I think there's
some parody there. But I think this season for basketball,

(29:38):
it's gonna be good, gonna be competitive, and you're gonna
get a lot more good games or better games consistently
throughout the week than you did in the past, where
you had to wait for those double headers, you had
to wait for those big schools to play each other.
I don't think that'll be the case this year. I
think on any given night, on a random Tuesday night,
you're gonna get good basketball with first Region play this year.
So there you go. There's my early thoughts all right

(30:00):
out of time, out of topic. We'll be back on Friday.
Until then, hope you've enjoyed this has been Region on
