Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hey, welcome to Revisiting the Mania of WrestleMania Rewatch podcast.
I'm Carlos and Maria and this episode is pre recorded.
We were unable to do a live one, but we'll
get back to you next week. The twenty fourth should
(00:42):
be a live one and we will be doing WrestleMania
thirty one. Hopefully our guest does end up joining us
here and virtually thank you. But this week we decided
to not leave you guys, hang in and give you
(01:04):
some content. So we took a side quest and since
we just talked about wrestling, you're thirty, yeah, and what
happens with aj Lee the next day and how Paige
shows up, and then we brought up Fighting with my Family,
We're like, why not revisit Fighting with my family now
(01:24):
that you know more about the background and things. Love
that's such a good movie. So we watched it originally
when it came out, yeah, in twenty nineteen, so.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
We're taking it back in history again everybody, and we
thought it was a great movie. So we're like, why
not rewatch this movie and talk about it with our fans,
our friends and anybody knew happening along this What are
we this little pod.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah, so thank you for joining us here. If you're
new to the channel. This is basically something we started.
We were gonna go to WrestleMania forty earlier in this year.
We had never been to a WrestleMania. Maria had never
watched a WrestleMania, so I decided to introduce Wrestling WrestleMania
(02:13):
WWE two her the same way I became a fan,
which is by only watching WrestleMania's because I could only
go to a friend's house or only watch videotapes.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
And if you like what you're hearing, you like what
you're seeing, definitely subscribe to our podcast. We would definitely
appreciate it, and we appreciate you. So with that, let's
get into this movie.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
All right, we have any tidbits or anything that you
had I do.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
I have a few highlights from fighting with my family.
So let's just set you up with the promise of
this movie if you have not watched it, or you're
here because you want to hear our take on watching
that movie. So the film is a comedy drama Y
drama edy a comedy drama.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Because drama y is the combination comedy and drama.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
That's a drama y about the rise of English professional
wrestler Page. So on this movie, Page is played by
Florence Peugh.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yeah, now Marvel thing, but she does other movies up
before you know or after this. This is I guess
the beginning of her rights to stardom, because she's in
there something Darling, save Me Darling or don't worry.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
So we definitely saw her in that one. You may
have seen her in a small movie called Oppenheimer a
good person like Carlos was alluding to, don't worry Darling,
thank you, the Widow, Black Widow, Black Widow, Hawkeye series,
and of course did.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
You see in the Level on I haven't no, I've
never watched my Level.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yeah, so she has played in quite a few movies.
I'm definitely a big fan of Florence p I thinks
she's awesome and this was a really, really good role.
If you heard just a few of those titles, it
just shows how dynamic of an actress that she is.
So with this movie we also have he Started, but
(04:15):
on Walking and Starting he was part of the movie
director and writer Steven Merchants.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yes, Steven Merchant the Tall I guess you didn't say man. Yeah,
I mean he's like freakish. I'm not saying freakishy, but
he's a very tall gentleman. Uh. He brought us the
Office UK version. You may have seen him in Logan
(04:41):
as a character. He's the albino uh comic or Comma
or something like that. That is the character Meuton's name.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
He's being out with Professor.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Yeah, Professor actually keeping him from killing everybody with the
psychosis whatever tell kinetic thing that he's having a text for.
And he's in this movie also fighting with my family
as the father in law of Zach's girlfriend slash fiance
(05:16):
slash baby's mama.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, so, like you're saying, we have Florence Pugh as
Page or her name is?
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Her real name is Soria.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
I was gonna says soriah Soria. We also have Jack Lowden,
her brother as Zach Zodiac in this movie. Yes, we
have Lena Patti, who is no slouch herself. You may
recognize her from shows like the drama Game of Thrones
where she plays Circe. Yes, we also have Nick Frost,
(05:49):
who I love from Shanna The Dad, one of my favorite.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Movies, the Cornello Trilogy, The Dad, Hot Buzz and I
figure what the third.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Also, how could we forget Vince Vaughn.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, Vince Vawn plays the main focal point trainer for
Saria or Page she ends up being called, or the
name that she takes on when she joins w W NXT.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Do you remember her original name when she was wrestling with.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Her family or her name is Seria.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
No, but he actually taps on the name that she
chooses is her wrestling.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Oh, her wrestling name is Brittany Brettany.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, yeah, Well he cracks a few jokes on that.
Vince Vaughn does really well setting up these wrestlers for NXT.
So I really enjoyed his part in this movie as well.
So we want to talk about the plot. Do you
want to get into it? Okay? So Page and her
brother is back, come from a wrestling family and the
(06:54):
dream of joining the WWE. I mean, in your head,
you're probably thinking of so many wrestling families, the Hearts,
will the Ussol, we have so many different families.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
The Jareds, and we have well is a family, I
guess you could say with the Popos because lady Dad
Angelo I think he owned the wrestling promotion. So let's
go on and there's just so many. So this family
(07:31):
is from England. Paige is selected to train.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
To get to the gist of it, while Zach is
rejected by NXT and they have a straight relationship. So
she has challenges fitting in with the other trainees, but
I don't want to get too far ahead. After she
overcomes obstacles, she actually debuts and w W E RAW
Whinsaviva's Championship. And that's the premise of this movie. This
(08:00):
movie premiered when twenty nineteen, twenty nineteen. Okay, was this
released in the US? In the UK? Yes, so this
movie grows the total of forty one point five million
worldwide and the budget for the movie was eleven million dollars.
How much eleven million? No before forty forty forty one
point five that's pretty good? Is that pretty decent?
Speaker 1 (08:22):
I mean considering that it was probably not only released
in the United States, but the UK and worldwide for
it to make four times its budget, and then you
have to add like maybe a few million more for
like marketing, promotional stuff and things like that, that movie
made pretty good money.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, And what do you think about ratings and rotten tomato?
Someone's curious, like.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
What would I rate it well? Or what do I
think Run?
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Oh, what do you think about Ran?
Speaker 1 (08:52):
The critic ones are a little bit more harsh because
you know they're critics. So it's I like to see
like the difference of when you see the critics and
then you see the fans, because sometimes the fans love
it a little bit more than the critics, because you know,
(09:14):
sometimes the critics are a little bit too more brutal
when it comes to like this didn't have this much
story it was a very thin plot line, or this
didn't have enough exposition of the story and blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
So I guess this is a good time to ask
you would you love it or would you leave it?
Speaker 1 (09:34):
This movie?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yeah, this movie?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
You know, watching it the first time, I was very
excited and I was like, you know what, I would
probably watch this movie again after I forget what the
plot of the story is and here we are. Was
it five years later and I still enjoyed the movie.
So I think I would say I'm not yea in
(10:00):
love with it, but I do like it where I
would I wouldn't mind, like if it's like a background movie,
you know, how like if you watch a movie, you're like, hey, kids,
if you're watching this, Sometimes people just would leave the
TV on a certain channel and just have the show
or the movie or any type of programming just sitting
(10:21):
there in the background making noise while they did.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Their work, like the office.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Yeah, so that's what I mean by background stuff. So
I wouldn't mind they just playing aimlessly while I'm doing anything.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Okay, what about you? I feel the same way. I
do enjoy watching this movie. I'd actually rewatch it for
a third time.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
And this movie has a ninety three percent approval rating
and rotten.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
From the criticsure from the audience.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
That's a good question. I'll find out and maybe we
can add in the contents below. Okay, So the filming
of this movie took place in a few different locations.
So they filmed this movie in Alio, or and Norwich.
Did you know that Dwayne the Johnson also served as
a producer.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Of this movie, Dwayne the Rock Johnson, Yes, dooey, yes.
Do you know how how well when he was filming
Fast and the Furious Six in London, like in twenty sixteen,
he saw that I think it has to be the
BBC that's like the only type of channel. But there
was a documentary of Soria's family, the Knight Family, playing
(11:25):
on the television, so he became more interested in like
the family, and that's when he started reaching out the
page and everything started workshopping, like getting interested in making
that movie.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Wow, that's pretty awesome, but that's really cool. I did
not know that. And then he actually has a part
in this movie, which I think is pretty awesome.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Yeah, I think you needed it just because, well, if
you're gonna have this type of transition, this is kind
of like a Rocky esque type of thing. Underdog while
she made make it well, she ever reached the top
of the mountain and things like that. So you need
someone that is familiar, Like, yes, Vince Vaughn is a
(12:10):
familiar actor. He has a familiar face. But if you
want to first what you gotta do is you gotta
draw in the fans that know the premise of the movie, right,
such as like me, I knew the character when we
went to go see this in twenty nineteen, and I
dragged you along, and the only people you probably knew
was just Vince Vaughn and the rock.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
So so we're talking about the family, and let's.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Show a picture of the family. Well, who was cast
as part of the family, so well, we can ignore
the rock with the Rocks. There we have Nick Frost
who's playing the father of the Night family, which we
also have the brother which is next to the Rock
(13:02):
here who was playing Zack. The mom Lena Hetti that
we mentioned is playing Soria who is Her actual wrestling
name is Sarria. So she named her father age Soria
after her own you know, and Ricky Knight was her
(13:26):
father's name, and I couldn't get the mom's name.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Well, I'm impressed with her mom because I did look
up her mother because I was very curious and the
cast of characters, and much like the Rock was interested
in the documentary, I also became interested. So the mom,
Julia Hammer.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Thank you vis or.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Her ring name sweet soriah. She is also a professional wrestler.
She's a trainer and she's also a promoter. So her
wrestling debut was in Mean and she's primarily known for
her work in the UK. Her wrestling style is technical,
hard hitting. So you explained to me that there's a
(14:08):
difference between English wrestling and wrestling in the United States.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Well, there's to me and everyone's whoever's watching this, whoever
knows a little bit more, and feel free to correct me.
But I always thought that wrestling from the UK was
like a combination of all the wrestling styles, but it
tends to be like a little bit more like brutish,
(14:36):
like more like you know how they had like the
soccer hooligans, more like street type of things. But it
could be a combination of lucha like you know, a
type of strong style type of thing is you know,
like where it's kind of like a street fight ish
and technical type of moves where submission holes, things along
(15:00):
those lines.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
So she is the co founder of the World Association
of Wrestling, which is a WAW. This is still going
strong today, I believe so, and alongside with her husband
Rickey Knight. The family comes from very humble beginning, so
like you talk about that hole rooting for the underdog,
for rooting for the family during this movie, helping that
(15:25):
one of their children's strike success or the family itself
the striking success with the wrestling promotion.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
And just to chime in and I the fact checked,
this is still going on and as of this moment,
they have an upcoming event on Saturday that's going to
be happening and they have a contown timer event detail
so they will be having here. General admission is free
(15:55):
and from real tickets cost two pounds and you can
call their box office. They do not show who is
going to be performing, but kudos to them for like
giving you general admission for free.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yeah, I mean, where do you find that? Where do
you hear that? So as you mentioned her mother as
a co founder of WAW, and we just talked about
it being a British independent professional wrestling promotion founded by
both of them and Jimmy Ocean in nineteen ninety four.
So here we are twenty twenty four and are still going. Yeah,
(16:30):
they also are affiliated. She's also affiliated with Belatrick's Female Warriors,
which is also owned by Sarah Knight, which I found
to be interesting because I think they're actually from Illinois?
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Are they? I do not know that. I can look
it up if we talk a little bit more. No,
that I didn't know about.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
I apologize because it's actually they're also from Norwich. But
what I do want to look into is that she
was part of the wrestling promotion in Illinois.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
And do you remember any shimmer.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Shimmer is a shimmer wrestling.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Yeah, Shimmer women athletes.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Yeah, so a little after this, I plan to look
into that as well. So I too, like the rock
was captivated with the family, and so with that.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
With that, we can get more into what worked for
you in it, you know, like what is if you
remember what stood out for you when you first watched
this in twenty nineteen, and like if there's anything that
you picked up now as being a smart market in training?
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Right, So, what.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Are a few things that I enjoy from watching this
movie outside of like the family dynamic brother sister, parents
teaching each other how to wrestle.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
I like that it's very grassroots. When they're starting, they're
casting out flyers, children are involved, friends are involved. I
also enjoy it that they're picking up kids in the neighborhood.
They're like, hey, instead of doing this, do this, let's
show you how to wrestle. And they're getting everyone involved
in the wrestling promotion. So I really enjoyed that aspect
(18:11):
of it. And then seeing her from her beginning of
when she's younger and how she's training with her brother.
She's being consistent, she's putting in the work and then
there's that special something that she has where she gets
picked to go on to NXT. Her brother gets picked
as well, but eventually he gets eliminated spoiler alert if
(18:33):
you have not watched us, and she has to go
through the struggles of family being away from her family. Also,
it's kind of interesting because she feels like the other
women there are talking about her, and at the end
the other women are like, well, maybe if you just
(18:54):
ask the question or if you got to know us,
then you find out that we're just more than sorry
for the language sets an ask, you know, just here
for the camera that they're actually doing it because they
have something back at home and they're also putting in
the work so they could take that big step or
(19:14):
that next step into WWE.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Yeah, so now that you have all that, you know
that you mentioned the pretty much the plotline of the movie.
Ah there, do you have anything that you know you
notice now as far as like the way she was training, Like, well,
I'll put this up here so we have them all
(19:42):
lined up here when they first joined NXT. Do you
have any question or anything like that as far as
that's concerned, Like, like, well, in fact, when Sireo got
picked up page. She was picked up when this was
known as Florida Championship Wrestling. Okay, that was back for
(20:05):
a long time, but when she finally got accepted in
twenty eleven, it was under Florida Championship Wrestling then. But
what they did is they had something similar to what
we're seeing in this picture where it's not only Vinceman
that's teaching them. They had three coaches. They had alse
known as one of them. They had this other wrestler,
(20:26):
Cub Bildomott, but his wrestling name was Hugh Morris. And
they had a lady wrestler at the time, which I
can't find her name, but it's somewhere here in my note. So,
so they didn't just have Vin Spawn. So Vince Spawn.
This character is like in I guess in like a
(20:49):
combination of all of these coaches. But for the movie purposes,
we need someone to like connect to or some person
to either hate or love, you know, kind of like
we had that when we did our review of The
Iron Claw, how we as the audience only had their
father to focus as the bad guy for pushing the
(21:10):
whole family on every family to wrestle. Now we have
someone where we can manifest our feelings towards for holding
Page back or you know, being too harsh on her
or yeah, and it wasn't like they did have Page
and Zach were invited, like several times Page and Zach
(21:34):
were invited, Like in twenty ten, Page didn't make it
the first time, Zach didn't make Zach didn't make it
the first time either. When Surrea was finally picked up
by the WW to go to Florida Championship Wrestling, her
brother again was not picked and at that time he's like,
(21:57):
you know, we're really interested in you, but you have
to drop like third pounds to him. So and then
like they have like a third tryout, I believe, or
from what I was seeing here at least notes, I
found like it's scream right because it's a movie. Things
like That's not like something that I had to Luckily
for me, I had to not do a whole lot
(22:19):
of investigatory journalism for this. But you know that he
finally joined it and he was getting in a groove
and everything like that, but then he suffered like a
tremendous injury, like knee injury, so then that cut his
whole MXT run short. So I think for this movie
(22:40):
purpose that I like that, you know, it didn't show
you all of those short balls that we had Page
Side and Zach Side because we only have a certain
amount of limited time and also attention span, so unless
(23:00):
they were trying to meet it like the TV series
where we're not going to see everything like that, you know,
like what is the same I'm trying to get but
it's not like everything's tip protect type of thing.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Yeah, and I do enjoy Vinswawan's character when he talks
to her brother. It's a real heartfelt moment where her
brother is calling and calling after Page is successful and
she is in training in NXT, where vin spawn is like,
you just don't have it. You don't have that spark
or you don't have that that thing that we're looking
(23:34):
for to move on to the next level to be
like a WWE champion, And it's a serious conversation. We've
all had those different types of conversations, whether it's applying
for a position that you're really looking forward to, or
it's something on a smaller scale. You know, we've all
had those conversations where maybe you just didn't hit the mark.
(23:59):
Maybe it'll be next time. So kudos to her brother
for still wrestling and still keeping that promotion going. And
then we find out that Vin Swan's character what did
the Rock call him? Yeah, so he calls them the
sex tape and you're like, what could that possibly mean?
(24:21):
So Paige asked him why do you call him that?
And he's done right, So he has he's been in
a position before where he too was a wrestler and
he had to make those moves to put over people
and make them famous. So we've all seen workers in
(24:41):
the ring, which you know, as I've been watching wrestling,
is that you do have people that are consistent, they're workers,
or you have that time where you need to put
a wrestler over to get them to that next step,
to get them to that belt, to get them to
the next storyline. I found that to be interesting in
this this movie as well.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Yeah, so the combination of this. Oh also a couple
of things here. The person that uh when she when
Page finally asked what did you do? Like how did
you become the person you are? When she's asking Vince
Vaughn is that he was a person that got thrown
(25:27):
off the thirty foot page and things like that that
was a nut to mcfoley, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Thought it was. I didn't want to make assumptions.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Yeah, when he's like, so, there's like a lot of
people that are like kind of shout out here and
like in the little stories they reveal. But when Vince
Vaughn tells him that you know what what he did
to people over and he's like, I'm the guy who
took a dive off of thirty foot cage and that
that was a shout out to mic foley because he's
(25:57):
also like been visited. He visits the performance in her
I'm not sure if he does it now, but when
this when Page was going through it, he had legends
like Kim Dusty Rhodes that would always visit.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Wow, they to motivated because those are the heroes that
you're watching up while you're trying to get into then
wrestling game, right m h.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
So we find out later in this movie that her
rise through like doing promotion by promos, like in this
picture when the divas had to make promos against each
other to work on their mic work in front of people,
and they actually have matches, which that's my only like
(26:39):
drawback on here that you know, at least with Rocky.
You saw him training, but you saw him at least
have one match against Spider in the beginning because it's
like even though he's getting like his ass beat by Spider.
We do have matches with Page and her, but it's
(27:00):
like her brother. We don't see like anyone else doing
a full fledged match with her. There's like a shortened
part in this movie where we do have them trying
to work on spots where they do double tope suicidas
with these two ladies here in the NXT that she
(27:22):
was working with because in NXT she was like the
only wrestler with experience. She has started wrestling like at thirteen, right,
and she was like being called here when she's like
seventeen or eighteen.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Yeah, and she talks about that. She talks about some
of those other wrestlers that she's like, you're watching moves,
this's dangerous. People have been injured because of botches, and
she gives them what does she called them a receipt receipts,
So she's giving them receipts where she actually flaps somebody
(28:03):
back because the person watches their moves like not only one, two,
but three times. So I really enjoy her family like
the setup of it, because, like you said, she's been
wrestling since she was thirteen. She knows the moves, she
knows how to make things work in the ring. But
Ben Swan, that character calls her out because he's like,
(28:27):
we don't give receipts here, so apologize and that was
a big moment for her because she actually had to
apologize to the person.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Right, So with this part, you know, I would have
and once again I understand it it gets cut off
because of the story and the length, but it would
have been nice to see her actually rise through NXT. Right,
So someone that's not a professional wrestling like, not a
fan of professional wrestling or follows the product of NXT
(28:59):
or or the Championship Wrestling, Well, no, besides the rigorous
training that these people have to go through that they
actually have to build their way up, I know think
they still want to like hold some type of like uh,
mystery to it, but I think, to me, I feel
(29:22):
like if they would have given more behind the curtain, okay,
people wouldn't still have that whole thing where it's like,
oh you still watch professional wrestling? Wasn't that fake? Right?
And we see the training here is not fake. These
people have you know, these men, women, these athletes have
to get into a particular shape, Like even if you
(29:43):
don't think that, you know, like someone like McK foley
is any type of shape. He has to be in
some type of shape to take some of the pumps
and some of the moves and some of the spots.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Right uh for that. So yeah, I mean that uh
tring style as kind of like Karani Kid meets.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Rocky and uh and uh Mickey more less unless waxing
on and off.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
So but I agree with you. I could have seen
more wrestling. I could have seen more behind the scenes.
And also it's good to know that, you know, I've
never heard of anything called receipts before. That was new
to me after watching this for the second time.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Which is funny because I think now, especially when we
started getting more like more shows like Glow The Gorgeous
Ladies of Wrestling and TV show or Netflix show and
I was gonna mention heels, they started mentioning receipts more.
Now that it's been one of those verbs that have
(30:49):
been introduced into the mainstream.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
It's like behind the scenes jargon that we're like, oh yeah, right.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
So I think the only other great besides that one
that I have was actually how Paige ends up winning
the title the next day on wrong We did actually
watch the match from Raw on the Raw after WrestleMania
(31:16):
for WrestleMania thirty. It was a short match. It's shorter
than the actual match that we are shown in this movie.
Do you have any notes on that that you want
to get.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Well, I just want to talk about Dwayne the Rock Johnson. Okay,
the Rock. He makes the cameo that's basically him playing himself.
But isn't that what we all want anyway, or at
least that's what I want. His charisma is so overwhelming
that it's surprising the screen doesn't crack under the pressure
(31:51):
of those eyebrow raises. So thank you to The Rock
for really pushing this movie forward and also acting in it,
because the spots in the movie were great. I really
enjoy We see this earlier on when Paige and her
brother are first.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
Invited invited and you have to have a tryout. They
have a SmackDown taping supposedly at the O two arena,
and Paige and Zach, the characters of the movie, are lost.
They can't find where they're holding the tryouts. So they're
walking through the arena and they just randomly stumble into
the Rock, and they asked the Rock several questions to
(32:36):
the point where the Rock kind of gets annoyed, but
he can't get annoyed because he doesn't know these people.
And we always have to have as a talent, uh
you know, I'm sure they preaches where you always have
to make sure that you know, you treat a family
respect no matter you know, how irritating it could be,
(32:56):
and things like that. And you can see that the
Rock is playing that pretty good where he's trying to
keep this cool in composure, and he actually throws out
a promo on them when he asks, how do you
win the audience over?
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Yeah, they ask him, They're like, how do we win
the audience over? What do we do? And he goes,
it doesn't matter what your names are. You walk around
here interrupting the Rock. You like you haven't seen the
sun in twenty years. You like you just a that
of Oliver Twist. Please, sir, may have may have some advice. Sir,
you want some advice, here's the Rock's advice. Shut your mouth.
(33:31):
What you want, what you want? How about what the
Rock wants and if you want to hear the rest
of that, I suggest you watch it because it was awesome.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
I know, I gave you sugar.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
I mean it's twenty twenty four. I enjoy The Rock
and any of his promos.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
So yeah, let's go ahead and wrap this up. So
we get to see and The Rock makes another appearance.
Uh Soriyah ends up getting the call up from NXT
and what we alluded to earlier, you know, Vince Vaughn
walks her to a private suite and The Rock shows
(34:13):
up and he tells her that she is going to
be called up to the main roster and she's gonna
make her debut the next night. I'm wrong against a
j Lee, who is played by current WWE wrestler Selena Vega.
Do you have anything on that that you want to
(34:33):
go through?
Speaker 2 (34:34):
I mean I thought the match was you know, we
know it's a short match. Oh, Salina's her over. I
enjoyed the call to the family by The Rock. But
as as far as the movie just wrapping up, the
humor in this movie is well executed. The emotional moments
they hit hard, you know, they hit harder than a
(34:57):
choked slam from the sap Rope. I definitely suggest you
watch this movie, if not for the family dynamic, for
the wrestling behind the scenes, and then what it takes
to have a wrestling promotion. Having a wrestling promotion as
no joke, it's hard work, and any entrepreneur will definitely
(35:21):
enjoy watching this because y'all know, even with the small business,
it takes a lot of work to push it forward,
or with the podcast, you know, it takes some motivation
to keep it moving and keep it going. So what
do you think?
Speaker 1 (35:35):
So yeah, so with that, I totally agree. Whether you're
a new fan to professional wrestling or an older fan,
if you have not watched this movie for some reason,
or if you were like interested in watching this movie
and you're like wrestling with my or fighting with my family,
is it worth a watch. Yeah, definitely go ahead and
(35:58):
make some time out of your day to go watch
this movie. Leave us around two hours long, but go
just because it's a very entertaining movie. You still get
some inside tidbits about what it takes to be a
professional wrestler, what it takes to be inside of the
(36:21):
w WE developmental camp, and you know, it kind of
gives you like a primer. What I have liked to
have seen some type of actual development of Page's character,
like how she chose her name Page, which we find
out it's because she was a fan of the Rose
(36:43):
McGowan character in Charm, because she had a but chin
like Sorea has a but chinye, So that was one reason.
But you know, just like having some type of the
mental character for time, like of her wrestling persona. Yes,
(37:06):
her main like regular Soraya persona is also great, but
like it would have been awesome, and I think it
would have been better to introduce like mainstream, bring the bigger,
like bigger audiences, go behind the scenes and hopefully we
can get something like that. I'm still hoping we can
(37:27):
get like some type of TV series on like The
Heart Family. I think Naddy said in an interview not
so long ago that they're working on trying to get that.
I would love to see some type of TV show
where territories are being explored because there's lots of stories
in of how we went from having territory wrestling promotions
(37:52):
like a in the NWA Georgia Championship Wrestling Mid South
World Class Championship Wrestling and Friends Wrestling Promotions, Close Friends
East Coast Pro Wrestling. I think it's the one where
our friend the podcast Zombie King from Four Sides of
(38:15):
the Ring is the talent four. But you know, it
would be nice to get some stories younger because everyone
had like a lot of characters in there, and there's
lots of behind the scenes stories that sometimes trickle out
from some of these guys still making the rounds, whether
it's a wrestle con or some type of you know,
Hall of Fame thing. You know, people got interviews and
(38:37):
sometimes people spill out of little stories from the road
back in those seventies and eighties.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
That's true. So fighting with my family definitely heartwarming. You
can and it's also so you can find family even
in the unlikeliest of places. So even a wrestling ring,
just don't try any of the moves unless you have
really good health insurance. As my recommendation too.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
So would you recommend that someone whether they're also a
new fan or like marketing training, that would be able
to appreciate this movie.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Yeah, you would definitely appreciate watching this movie. I thought
the movie was great when we watched it when it
first came out. Definitely think this movie and you know
a good watch. Watch it over a weekend, watch with
your family or friends, and I would watch it for
a third time. That's how good I think.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
This movie is all right, And for that, thank you
very much for joining us today. We have a recommendation
from both of us, whether you're a new fan, older
fan of wrestling that for some reason have not made
the time to watch wrestling, or finding with my family,
go out and watch it. It is not streaming anywhere
(39:49):
so for free, so if you do want to watch this,
you would have to rent it. We rented this from
Apple TV for three ninety nine forty eight days eight
forty an hour. But if you don't, you have thirty
days to start the movie. But once you start the movie,
you have forty eight hours to watch you geez yeah. Anyway,
(40:10):
and if you do want to watch the match of
the Raw where aj Lee loses the title and makes
Page the youngest Divas champion at the age of twenty one,
you can find it on peacock and just search for
the dates.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
