(00:08):
Hey, thank you for joining us. We are revisiting the Mania wrestle Mania
Rewatch podcast. Uh. She's Mariaand I'm Carlos and with us here we
have a guest. Our first timeto the podcast, John beat Nick,
(00:35):
and it's funny Sports Report. Appreciateyou, man, Thank you for having
me. I also go by BigBlack, three names for one large black
person. But anyways, thank youfor having me on the show. I
love wrestling and I'm I'm just ready. I'm ready. Let's just kick this
kick these things ass. All right? Awesome, So we are going to
(00:59):
be revisiting WrestleMania twenty seven from Atlanta, Georgia. Well, first of all,
let me take a drink of thiswater, because this is not any
water. It's the people's water.Oh my god, I was wondering where
(01:23):
that was going. Oh boy, yeah boy. Before we dive into WrestleMania
twenty seven, John or, let'sget yourself like some background background, and
let introduce yourself to the people whomay have not seen any of your stuff
before. Do not have any ideawho you are? Oh I'm sure they
(01:44):
haven't, and I'm sure they don't. It's totally fine. But yeah,
let's what should I what should webe? Yeah, well, let's since
we're a WrestleMania rewatch podcasts. Myfirst introduction to WrestleMania and wrestling was WrestleMania
one. So what was your introductioneither to wrestling. Was it like a
Monday Night raw? Was it aWrestleMania event? Where does your wrestling story
(02:07):
start? Oh? Man, SoI actually talked to my mom about this
recently. My uncle was a wrestlerwhen I was I mean before I was
born. But some of my earliestmemories were watching my uncle wrestle and my
this is my blood uncle and thenone of my uncles through marriage was his
(02:30):
manager and they would do local stuffin Boston. That's where I'm from,
originally Boston, Massachusetts, currently inDenver, Colorado. But yeah, so,
like I remember seeing my uncle WressellZeus and like Tony Atlas and like
those were just like the guys, you know. And it wasn't until years
later I realized, like, ohshit, like my uncle was plugged in.
(02:51):
So that and then like being withmy grandma, she would always watch
wrestling, which she would call it. So it's always been a part of
my life. First, WrestleMania oohthat I can vividly remember. Oh god,
I think I was in the firstgrade, so that had have been
like ninety two. It was outside. I can't remember the number, and
(03:15):
I should have looked this up before. I think it was not the first
one that was outside. Yeah, that was the one I've yes, the
Caesars Palace one. I vividly rememberthat, and I'm sure I watched them
before, but that's the one thatI was like, Oh my god,
wrestling is amazing. Yeah that's man, that's pretty good. Yeah, awesome.
(03:35):
Uh. Do you have any favoritewrestler at that time that like made
an impression on you besides like maybea Hulk Hogan or Alex Luger or anything,
since that's the first one you remember. No, Actually, my favorite
wrestler of all time from day onewas Jake the Snake Roberts, and I
didn't know he was a heel untilI was an adult. I was like,
(03:58):
wait, he was a bad guy. They're like, yeah, how
did you not know that? I'mlike, I don't know. I love
snakes and he had a snake.I wanted to be like take the snake,
like, but yeah, Jake theSnake was my guy. Him and
Macho mant that at that time period, but definitely always been a sucker or
mark for guys with snakes. Guyswith snakes, big old snakes. You
know, gotta love it. Andthen like Hacksaw, Jim Duggan was like
(04:24):
my guy too. Okay, awesome, So it's pretty cool. You got
to be with this one where weget as out m dug and then Dug
didn't I know that was tight.I was pumped when I saw that because
then we'll get to that later.Yeah, yeah, yeah, So one
more thing before we get started intothe event here. Now you have your
(04:45):
own podcast. How long has thatbeen going on for? Oh god,
I've been doing this podcast on andoff for probably like twelve years now.
It used to be audio only andthen I I would share it with friends
and then you know, it tooka break and came back. But now
we just do video exclusively. Thisvideo incarnation has been going on for about
a year and some change. Ithink. Awesome. So maybe two years
(05:10):
after I had a kid, Idon't know, and COVID happened, like
my time is all I have tolook at the time stamps, like I
don't really remember. Yeah, Ifeel the same way I've been telling her.
I've been like losing track of likejust what day is it? Oh,
I got to do this, soI got to do that. And
like, now we're approaching WrestleMania forty, which will be attending, and now
(05:31):
it's like, that's only twelve daysaway. Yeah, I came up really
quick. That's tight. You know, we've been talking about it for so
long, and now that it's here, we're just like, Okay, well
now we gotta get ready for it. It's just a few weeks away.
So what is it? Ten days? Twelve days, twelve days in county?
Yea first, And I think it'sappropriate because this WrestleMania that we're talking
(05:57):
about features the Rock and we shouldbe seeing him. Yeah, it's just
weird how everything is lining up likethat is odd. We start. We
started this podcast primarily because we werewatching We went to go see Warrior Wrestling,
which is a local indiea around Chicago, because they were gonna have Ejo
del Vi Kingo and we weren't sure. Anyone like who was a fan of
(06:20):
wasn't sure if he was going tobe able to wrestle on TV because of
the contract that he has with aon. So I'm like, if I'm
never going to be able to seethis guy on TV, he's gonna be
wrestling like ten miles away from here. Let's drive over there, we'll see
him. And then I liked herlittle like equips and little like things that
(06:42):
I had explained to her and herlittle remarks, and I was like,
have you ever watched WrestleMania one?Because that's how I got introduced to wrestling.
And she's like no, and like, well, let's watch it,
like it helped made me a fan. So we started that and then she
started watching it like you want topodcasts, and she's like sure, and
here we are twenty seven episodes laterand four bonus episodes later. Yeah.
(07:08):
Nice. Yeah, when you talkabout Jake the Snake and was it Macho
Man, yeah, those are someof my favorite wrestlers, and it's to
this day like some of my favoritewrestlers are still the old school wrestlers.
So yeah, I have I havea saft spot for old folks, old
wrestlers. I should have said Ihave a soundboard with Macho Man on it.
(07:28):
I don't see if he works onthis. I don't know if you
heard that, but no, Ihave so many goddamn sound effects. But
I'm with you. The old schoolwrestlers are. They're cool. Real quick.
I didn't tell you guys about this. I have an original pack of
three bubble gum and cards stickers thatwe can open them if you would like
(07:55):
to, and they're your cards ifyou want to. It's pretty awesome.
I might. I might even eatthe gum. Just oh please don't eat
the gun. We gotta get fused. Man. Old. Yeah, no,
this is original pack. I thinkeighty three. That is awesome,
(08:16):
not that old s yeah, yeah, eighty seven. Yeah, so I
was one. I was one yearsold when this came out. Oh you're
a baby. Baby. He definitelydidn't want you chewing that guna not at
one, No, not at thirtyeight either. But I'm gonna do it.
I'm an adult and I make myown choices. That's true. It's
(08:43):
like now that we're adults and youcan have anything you want, You're like,
yeah, but it can't always havelike an ice cream for bar.
I mean I did have an icecream, right right? Oh boy,
I love it. I love it. For twenty seven is the biggest WrestleMania
ever. Hey, that's funny becausethere's Somnia forty is supposed to be the
(09:07):
biggest WrestleMania ever. Really, isthat the tagline? Yes, because it's
uh, the Roman numerals make xL, So that's why they're going with
it's the biggest WrestleMania ever because it'sthe next L tagline that seems kind of
unoriginal to me. Hey, well, I can't really blame Vince now because
Vince isn't here, so that phoneson Hunter and TKO and it's their company
(09:31):
and technically they've never done it before, so no, I'm with you.
But the Rock is back though.Yeah, so that's why it's gonna be
the second biggest one ever for thesecond coming AnyWho, we'll figure it out
(09:52):
here. We get our first match, Berto del Rio, the twenty eleven
Royal Rumbo winner versus Edge, theRated R Superstar for the World's Heavyweight Championship
Belt Big Goldie as I like tocall it. Then this match goes for
(10:13):
eleven minutes and twelve seconds. Wedidn't talk about the introduction. Oh what
was the Oh that's right that shedid the whole water bottle thing. Yeah,
oh what the rock? I thoughtthe introduction to this WrestleMania was one,
yes, one of the few timeswe get a host of a WrestleMania.
(10:33):
We got the Rock coming out hereafter the America. The Beautiful is
saying, uh here, I forgotby who? All right? We get
the People's Champion, the most electrifyingman in sports entertainment, the people's eyebrow,
the jabbroni ben pi in trailbis sorrytrailblazon eyebrow Raisin strong arm of the
Law. I don't think that strongarm of the law, but I think
(10:56):
it's supposed to be. I thoughthe was so good introducing THISA were you
guys, I don't know if yourewatched it. I know you got to
see it live him. I rewatchedit and like clips of it. I
mean it was It's hard because atthe time it was dope as hell because
(11:16):
the Rock was back. But watchingit now, I'm like, it's cool,
but I don't think it was asgood as I originally thought it was.
But that's just kind of how Ifeel about it. No, I'm
totally on bored with that one. It's, uh, you know you've seen
it and then now you've seen howit's kind of like it's a revisiting type
of thing. So you've seen howit joggers your memory on how this whole
(11:39):
story like progresses from the arc ofyou know, the Rock is here and
then you see how this event ends. And it just made me mad.
And I'll get into it why itmakes me mad, but it's it's something
that it just I can't really talkabout it without spoiling it for any people
(12:01):
that may be watching it and belike, hey, why do I need
to see WrestleMania Tony seven for thefirst time? The intro is pretty awesome.
I enjoyed it, and this isdefinitely my favorite. The introduction was
one of my favorite parts of this. WrestleMania saw me as like a new
American training watching the Rock. Wasvery impressed by the intro and I was
(12:22):
really happy with it. So yeah, yeah, yeah, And I felt
the same exact way the first time, like I really did. I did.
It was spectacular? Yes, Soanything else before we can move on.
That's all that's all I have,all right, So we have a
Delrio. He was Will put upa picture. He had this great introduction
(12:45):
here, that's a great picture.Yeah, A follow Potosino because he is
from San Luis Potosi as all ofmy family members are. This is true.
Yeah, yeah, look at allthat Latino hotness. Look at all
that hot boy. I am sweating. I am hot. Yeah. And
Maria was already buying, uh,this entrance when she's like, did you
(13:07):
see Alberto the REOs? Uh thestates that he has in the background and
his entrance, and I'm like whatand the like yeah, she was eating,
she was eating everything. The announcerswere giving him was like, oh,
yeah, just a state in northernMexico, So like, yeah,
that's no, that's not factual atall. I'm sure that you can look
(13:31):
that up if you go anywhere nearnorthern Mexico, which is closer to the
border of Texas and things like that. There, it's all mountainous and it
looks nothing like that. It's interesting. Yeah, they wanted to be accurate.
They could probably say that it wasprobably from where he is and somebody
supposed to see there's more centralized andthere's more like mountains and green things like
(13:54):
that. So but I'm digressing, and so let's get into you are a
fan of Edge. I'm a fanof Edge. Yeah. Were you a
fan of Alberto del Rio? Iwas impressed with Alberto del Rio. Awesome,
So who were you going to rootfor? This is a hard one
because I like Edge an edge withChristian and Alberto also had Brotus Clay there,
(14:22):
so I was actually rooting for Alberto, like you said, I bought
it a hook line and sinker.I was like, where is this ginormous
house that he has. He's supertall, you know, super athletic.
I'm like, what is this.I've seen him wrestle before, so I
was excited to see this match. All right, Yeah, awesome. What
(14:43):
about you guys? I think ifI was, if I remember correctly,
I was also on the Alberto delReal bandwagon here I recall so by thinking
back twenty eleven and now seeing thishere thirteen near ish layers later, I
do not care for this match atall. Yeah, I'm kind of with
(15:07):
you, But on the opposite,I'm like Edge, my guy, you
know, edging Christian like and Ican't believe it's twenty eleven. You said
that in the Game of Goosebumps, and I'm like, damn, it was
that long. But yeah, Iwas like, Edge just gotta win.
Didn't really care for Del Rio atthe time, but agree with you man
again in hindsight, not hindsight, but rewatching this, I'm like, I
(15:28):
don't really care. And it wasthe first match too. Yeah, this
is like, I think, eitherthe second or third instance where we get
like usually since WrestleMania eight, we'vehad whoever wins the Oil Rumbo gets a
shot in main events wrestle me andthat's the whole big thing about winning the
Royal Rumbo. And here we are, but the real wins and even though
(15:52):
they're trying to, the announcers areout there pushing that he's had like the
greatest rocket to start them. Andin the whole first year he's not main
eventing the WrestleMania So it's like Vincecame him a push, but he's like,
oh, hold on, we're gonnabring it back here because I can't.
(16:14):
I can't have a personal color goingout here. Have made a venting
you got it? Boy? Imean it is crazy, but you know
it's kind of real. But yeah, I agree with you guys. This
match is not a recommended match forme. It's not a ravisit and it
was a little dull. I hadhigher expectations. I've seen a wrestle before
(16:34):
I've seen Alberta Wressel before, notin WrestleMania, so I thought this was
going to be pretty cool, butit was kind of blackluster, so good
word for lackluster. Yeah, AndI thought, you know, as far
as like the ring psychology work isthere, Alberto the real is primarily more
(16:55):
of a submission guy. But it'salways been weird to me that he has
those type of mad skills with theheight that he has, and he looks
like he should be more of abrawler. Yeah, it throws it off.
So when he pulls off like someof these moves primarily like trying to
get his arm bar under, thoselook pretty cool, but everything else,
(17:18):
it just it throws throws me off. And I think if they had maybe
like scripted the match in a differentway to actually make it seem more geared
to Alberto having the upper hand, because even though Christians there to help out
Edge with and he has broke hisclay, I mean, they really don't
(17:44):
get involved too much. They tryto get him, and there are times
where, like you have Ricardo, like the stack is that the stack,
the deck is stacked. I don'tknow why I couldn't say that for Edge,
but you know, he's still justto pull it off, but it
is the interference doesn't really add anythingtoo much to this match to me.
(18:06):
No, it didn't. I meanit stretched the time. Yeah, that's
that's about it. Yeah, whatis it? Eleven eleven minutes and twelve
seconds. Yeah, that's pretty Itis like as good as a match that
we had. And I really ifI am recommending this to a newer fan
like my wife, I definitely wouldnot recommend this match. I believe John
(18:29):
is also agreeing that he will notgive this match, so I do want
to add that. Unfortunately, atthis time, like about a week later,
Edge has to retire because he hasthe finals to know. Yes,
so this is the last match thatwe have for Edge for about eight or
nine years at Somnia. Yeah,it was a while, Yeah, and
(18:52):
I don't want to say the matchagain. This is revisiting it didn't It
didn't feel sloppy, but knowing theinformation that we know now, I could
see that Edge wasn't at his bestand like they had to have people on
the outside because like he couldn't doit, you know, Like but then
(19:15):
they came out and told us so, like they probably knew beforehand. Because
you know how wrestling works and ship. But yeah, like oh yeah,
Vince. Vince is not trying toget in trouble with anybody, especially after
that whole thing with Owen about maybeoh yeah man twelve years ago the timeline,
Oh no for you, Yeah, there is a clean sweep. We
(19:37):
do not recommend anyone, whether they'rea new fan or an old fan,
older fan, to sports entertainment,Like you're the oldest fan, Yeah,
do not go back and rewatch, you're the youngest fan. I read that
Alberto was watching wrestling when he waslike three, Well should he should have
(20:00):
because his dad was a wrestler.Yeah, yeah he was, Uh I
think he was those yeah, soyeah, it's a tradition for him to
probably been watching his dad, Solike tradition with John with your uncle,
(20:25):
Yeah, watching him. Oh,he used to take two by fours and
like smash them over his head andthen would like do his finishing move,
which I never remember what his finishingmove was, because every time I saw
the piece of wood, I wouldlose my ship and just kind of like
black out. Yeah, he don'tdo that no more. There's no one
trying to do anything over their head. Anymore for good reason. Yeah.
(20:51):
Yeah, with this, we moveon to rain My Stereo the Master of
the six one nine versus no longerDashing Cody Roads because, uh, the
storyline leading up to this is thatraised knee raised sense of crushing and breaking
(21:11):
Cody's nose. Interesting because we havetwo dynamics. Isn't Cody what's his name
right now? The American n Yes? And then cials justice Captain America.
Yeah, oh that's a good catchby. Yeah nice. I was just
gonna make fun of Cody right nowbecause he's here making his imprisonation of Arrow
(21:33):
Arrow. I love the beginning ofthe Green Arrow. I wonder if you
got tams from Stephen A. MelOn that one where he's like, hey,
can I where do you get yourcostume name? What did he used
to say? He failed your city? Who failed the city? What was
that? Disfigured Cody? What wasit? I can't remember what they were
(21:56):
calling him during that time. Well, he was dashing Cody was before this,
and I don't remember them calling himanything after, Like, but yeah,
he had like the he had likea clear face mask, yeah on
his face, like yeah, Idon't know. It was hilarious instead of
like that. He was like,I don't know what it was half cola.
(22:22):
Yeah, so this match goes fortwelve minutes. We got the first
WrestleMania match that Raymond Stereo is giventhat last morn than ten minutes. That's
true. Did you love it?Did you love every minute of it?
Or no? Was it kind ofa bummer for you? I'm really curious
for me or you asking John John? Oh, I mean, I'm a
sucker for a Raymistereo. He wasthe only reason why I used to watch
(22:45):
WCW back in the day. Soyeah, you'll find me hard pressed to
say something bad about a Raymond Stereomatch. So I loved every second of
it. Okay, anything still gotin particular, any spots or anything.
(23:07):
Well, I like what Cody didwith the and that's that's I guess I
should say it full. I lovering Mystereo, but I think Cody elevated.
They elevated each other in that match. For me, it was a
lot of like the reversals and thestuff's spelling outside of the ring like that
to me was awesome because that'sh It'shard to do. I mean, resting
(23:30):
is hard, period, but tomake it look that effortless you know,
to how do you jump out ofthe ring and land outside but your knees
are still in the middle of thesecond rope and not kill yourself Like like
that's amazing. So just the wholematch was dope to me. Even like
rewatching it, I'm like, oh, man, I forgot how cool this
was. Like, but again, the reversals as an adult, now,
(23:53):
if you want to see some goodlike reversal tech, technical work and stuff
like that, like watch watch thatmatch. Pretty dope. The story telling
was good too. Yeah, whatabout you, man? I like Ray
Masterio's office. I'm a fan ofRay. I thought this match was pretty
cool. Like John said, Ilike the reversals, the moves that they
had, so this would be arecommended match for me. Some good technique
(24:18):
and here good spots. Solid match. Yeah, like I think this is
one of the probably spot I likethis cattle pult thing. Yeah, the
in between ropes that Cody doesn't Ray. And then we had a little bit
of a comeback from Ray when Ilike always like the head scissors type of
thing. So Dope pulls off andyou get to see his costume a little
(24:40):
bit more, and then we seeRay trying to get his revenge on Cody,
Cody trying to get his mask offon Ray, and Ray returning the
favor. Yeah, I mean itis a no no, but we've already
seen Ray without his past. ButI mean there's fans now that would have
(25:02):
been watching this in twenty eleven whoprobably did not see WCW back maybe eight
or nine years ago when that actuallyhappened. That's true, that's true.
Yeah, And then we got acouple of instances when Cody keeps blocking the
six one nine, but actually Rayactually manages to get that and Ray is
actually gonna win. But no,eventually Cody gets Ray's knee brace off and
(25:29):
he manages to get a hold ofit and he clocks Ray and it's a
pinning a win for Cody Rhoads. So unfortunately for me, I'm gonna go
ahead and say that this is nota recommended match for me. As much
as I do enjoy this match,I think the one that they have later
on, I think it's like alast Dandy match, is a little bit
(25:55):
better because I feel like this fewneeded a little bit more more, uh
to be more personal, and youneed like one of those uh no,
d q's or count anywhere type ofmatches for you to get the whole breath
of the story. But like aphrase that I managed to coin a little
bit earlier in our podcast, thisfelt like this was another match that might
(26:18):
have been in a Moose boosh foryou, So we brought the booch surprise.
But if you are a fan ofCody Rhoads and you want to see
uh, you know, in thebeginning of Cody Rhoads and he had the
(26:42):
technique down matt wise, but hedidn't have the gimmick to go with it,
so weird, that's true. Yeah, and I feel like that's kind
of been the case with Cody's wholecareer. But we'll talk about that maybe
some other time. Yeah, Imean, we do have Ron's tibbet,
so if you want to go anduh to talk about afterwards, we can
(27:03):
definitely go into that a little bitlater on in the show. Oh with
this, if there's nothing else topick apart here, we can move on
to the next match. The BigShow is back and he is not in
a title hunt this time, buthe's over here mid carting along with Caine,
(27:26):
Kofi Kingston, and Santino Marilla versusthe Core, which is a very
dumb dumb here Ezekiel Jackson, HeathSlater, Justin Gabriel and Wade Barrett.
(27:47):
Now my wife knowing her, sheis a fan of the Big Show and
you are a fan of Santino orSantina. This is Santina's brother, Santino
brother, and you are a fanof Wade Barrett. Bad news Barrets,
yeah, bad news. Yeah.So who were you rooting for? This
(28:10):
match goes for a lengthy one minuteand thirty two seconds eight man tag team
match, the match that you allhave been waiting for for the best wrestleman
ever, biggest, the biggest, excuse me, the biggest, and this
is actually a recommended match for me. Let's get into it, okay.
(28:33):
At Shorts, I had some ofmy favorite wrestlers. We get to see
the Big Show wrestling. Santino Morella, he gets to do some wrestling.
He did it during the last WrestleManiahe was in. I'm a big fan
of Koffee and it was just fun. So you know, we had a
finishing move by Santino. He didhis little what is his rooting like this
(28:55):
trumpet? His little trumpet. Yeah, like there we goration. Let's get
to the spot where he sets uphis cobra. A little bit later on
Babe, just like Mick Foley hadhis socoa, Santino gets a wrap around
(29:15):
a soccrap around his thing and it'sa little Yeah, so we got Sentino
starting out the match. He doesthis thing, and then the Big Show
gets in there and he starts clearingthe house. Here. Guys wouldn't like
this match, but I thought itwas fun. No, you made really
good points though, yeah, reallylike awesome, like yeah, yeah,
Like I'm not saying that this matchis like a terrible match, but it's
(29:41):
more of a thing, like it'sa minute in thirty seconds. Like with
all these eight guys, especially likeyou know, Ezekiel Jackson, you have
the you have one powerhouse and youhaven't matching with either Cane or the Big
Show. You have a high flyerwith Justin ge Bro who gets no time
at all in there, and thenyou have Wade Barrett, which is another
(30:04):
brawler that you could probably have himgo either against the Big Show or Cane
yea, and none of those guysget enough usage here. It's like they
all got thrown in there and they'relike, well, you got to WrestleMania
pay Day, so I guess that'sgonna be good enough for you guys,
right, Yeah, I I reallyI honestly, I didn't remember this until
(30:26):
rewatching it, and it was I'mlike, why would you have a squash
match on WrestleMania? Like when youthat like and like, yeah, and
that's what it was. It wasa squash match. But everything you said,
Maria is valid. I'm like,oh, ship, I never thought
about it that way. I stillwouldn't recommend it, but yeah, weird,
(30:49):
it's a weird match. I don'tremember this. I'm like, it's
quick started and then everybody got alittle pay so or maybe big D I
don't know. Yeah, who knowshow much to pay the payday would have
been for those people in that particularpoint in the card going in there.
(31:15):
Here we're the third match, sowhat that? Yeah, there's nothing else
to pick apart here next man.Yeah, that takes us to the Viper,
the Legend Killer Randy Orton versus cM. Punk and this match goes
for fourteen minutes and forty six seconds. John, what did you think about
(31:40):
this match? I really like RandyOrton, is what I kept saying over
and over again, I've had astrong disdain for seeing Punk. Sorry,
I know that you guys is likehometown hero. No, I'm on the
opposite side with you. I'm onI'm on team BB right here. I'm
(32:01):
like, yes, I'm not afan of Phil, but yeah, I'm
not a fan a good match. So let me just let me say that
because I'm biased, I focused onRandy see him Punk will always put on
a good show. But boy,Randy carried him in this match in HINZ.
(32:22):
Watching it again with what I knowabout wrestling now, it to me
watching it, I didn't. Ididn't watch him full this time around.
But I'm like, yeah, I'mlike, oh man, it's still the
same old thing. He's a lotyounger because I know, you know Phil
from a few years ago and thenwhen he went to a w and stuff.
But yeah, it was just likewow. So yeah, I guess
(32:45):
I'm a little biased. I'm nevergonna really like a ce M Punk match
per se, and I'm always gonnathink the other person's going to carry them.
Whether that's true or not, Idon't know. Okay, so it's
not a visit from John. Iguess what we're saying, yeah, it
was kind of a revisita, butagain because it was a Randy Yeah.
(33:09):
Again, I didn't remember this match. I don't. I didn't remember this
card at all. But as I'mlooking, I'm like, oh, Randy
or In CM punk, I waslike, but I do love me some
religion killers, so let me beaton it. But yeah, sorry to
ship on this seal. Okay, because I'm here too. Yeah, really
(33:32):
had a favorite Randy or In matchat a WrestleMania to date, but this
was one of them. And maybeit's because, like you said, he
was putting in the work. Afan of CM punk, I am hometown
from Chicago, but also I likehis wrestling gear during this match as well.
During this WrestleMania I thought was prettycool. I like his boots,
(33:55):
so that was pretty cool for meto see a fan of both. And
I like the wrestling during this match, good spots, and I'd recommend it.
So, you know, new towatching wrestling newer, I will say,
I'm already twenty seven WrestleManias in May, but I like that, so
(34:19):
I would say watch it. Whatabout you? This is very borderline for
me, and we'll get into ithere but yeah, they have a lot
of back and forth here with thisparticular match. Like the match starts off
kind of like it looks like it'sgoing to be one of those like slow
(34:42):
pace match we're going to work, you know, we're gonna work a technical
match, but it kind of shiftsgears here, so, you know,
because you really can't have Randy workinga technical match. You know, he's
more of a spot kind of guyand with a little bit of power once
in a while, and that's whereRandy's on his little sweet spot and making
things go because people like cheering frohim, whether he's a bad guy or
(35:06):
a face, it's just something aboutthat. People are like, yes,
Randy Orton, let's cheer for thatguy is freaking His title is legendary.
Whereas for me, like, Irespect the work that Randy's done, but
I like, since I'm a veteran, and I don't like that he went
a wall and then he paid noprice for it at all. So personal
(35:28):
wise, not a fan of Randy. Ring wise, yes, I'm a
fanom yeah, but I agree withthat. So but they they trade off
a couple of things. You know, he has the advantage Punk goes up
Punk always has some good high flyingspots, whether it's him doing like the
Macho Man tribute elbow and things likethat. And then they had this one
(35:50):
spot where they do the Superplex herewhere he thinks that the Yeah, yeah,
that was crazy. Yeah, thatwas a good spot. And I
always like the way Randy does hispower slam here. He's one of the
best in the business. Yeah, like him and Dustin Rhodes. I love
their power slams. They're really goodand we can't forget it. Always gotta
(36:10):
get a Randy doing his draping dd T. Then he milks for a
little bit before he drops the hammeron them, and then we get the
finale, which was I'm always impressedwhen people try to do this type of
you like, it's already a spotin there. You know you're going to
take the spot, so but justto know that, Okay, this is
(36:32):
it, I'm gonna have to jumpoff the top turn buckle and dive into
this arcade. I mean, youknow you're gonna get paid. But just
like having those thoughts are like,oh, I hope he catches me.
But that was a cool spot.I Like I said, I don't like
(36:54):
seeing Punk, but I'm not goingto deny his talent, you know,
like he he's a professional wrestler atthe highest level for a reason, you
know what I'm saying. That's likesaying, oh, you're in the NFL,
you suck. No, they don'tsuck, you know what I mean,
Like, they can't suck. They'reat the highest level of it,
you know. So I say thatwith knowing that he's a beast, and
I do respect his craft because youhave to. Like you said, I
(37:16):
wonder if he's gonna catch me.You ain't catch me doing that shit.
I don't know top rope. Hell, I don't know tramon on the floor
of my kid either. It wasa good match of training, like blows
and you know, like trying toone up each other. And as far
as like recommending this match to anewer fan like my wife who has never
(37:40):
seen this pay per view until now. But like if someone's like, hey,
for some reason, I want towatch Wrestleman twenty seven, and I'll
be like, you know what, just no, don't watch this match.
But there is this match, youknow. But if you are a fan
of Randy and are a fan ofc M Punk and you're newer to wrestling,
(38:04):
and you haven't had a chance towatch anything else that he's done besides
the a W run like as Johnpointed out, like a W. He
had his moments, but it wasyeah, it was not this type of
CM punk right that we get hereintroduced to. So if you want to
go back and see some of hismatches before he retired, uh, I
(38:28):
think in two years after this WrestleMania, Yeah takes the hiatus. Oh yeah,
so yeah, yeah, definitely revisitfor that, But as a newer
fan, I do not recommend thatsomeone go out and rewatch this. So
with that, that takes us tothe best match of the night, the
best match of the night. Thebest is the best match. But before
(38:53):
that, no, it's not thebest match of You are jumping ahead,
but I wanted to get to somethinghere because we get the Hall of Fame.
Oh yeah, yeahs herere Cary.Yeah, so we get Abdullah the
Butcher. Yes, this guy who'suh been working for a while, and
(39:16):
I think I remember incorrectly, hehas been giving out lots of appatitis.
They so you see his forehead, right, that's all scars from blading with
razors, like cutting himself and that'show he passed on the hepatitis to other
(39:36):
people. Yes, because he wouldnot change his blades that he cut himself
with, he would reuse them. That's that is so disgusting. That's what
I've heard. Yeah, I knowyou probably did not do any type of
research, but I did. Yeah, he went, he went to court
(40:00):
and lost the case over that. But he did in his defense, he
didn't show up. Oh, Iguess in his defense he didn't show up
to the court case. I'm soby default he lost and on record he's
given people hepatitis for Yeah, that'sincredible. Yeah, we're here to teach
people. So and then with thiswhen we get Sunny, this is this
(40:24):
is now. This is I guessthe peak of her career after wrestling,
because after that it goes downhill fast. Our first comment here on our live
stream from our previous guests and fanAnthony Jones, Abdullah has a great restaurant
(40:45):
in Atlanta too. Oh that probablymakes sense on why he was inducted here.
Thank you for chiming in. Yeah, that makes a good point.
Yeah. So we also have theinduction of the Road Warriors with Paul eller
Ring and here we have Animal andPaul, who is still working right now
(41:07):
currently as a manager for the authorsof pain. Oh wow, aop on
SmackDown right now. He's just likethe manager and the you know, like
how we used to have back inthe day, like a mister Fuji and
things like that. That's the guyon the right hand side with the sunglasses.
And then we have Animal and atthis time we do not have Hawk
(41:30):
because he had passed away from aheart attack in two thousand and three.
Have you ever seen those themes withthe sunglasses that pop down deal with it?
Yeah, that's what those sunglasses.Love it. And then we have
the celebrity wing Drew carry Yeah,I do not know. This is like
(41:52):
maybe like carve that, Like I'mnot knocking Drew Carry on the prices right.
Yeah, I can't remember him.It wasn't a Wrestlmingia might have been
in a Survivor series or two wherehe messed around with Kine like he was
a man, but I don't remember, like if that was why he was
(42:15):
like as a companion to this.Yeah, then we have a disinduction of
a wrestler that I have no ideawho it was. And I had to
look him up, bullet Bob Armstrong. Here we go, right, Yeah,
he was a professional wrestler, obviously, because that's why he's scared.
(42:39):
But he wrestled back I guess inaround Atlanta too, from where he wrestled
also in TNA, so he waspart of also the National Wrestling Lines obviously
from nineteen sixteen to nineteen eighty eight, so territory days. Yeah, so
(43:00):
everybody would have known him. Anotherlocal talent. They got inducted and we
have uh bbi's favorite wrestler growing up, Hacks. He had loved his two
by four so much that he gothit a little bow tie. Yes,
(43:21):
the two by four also had tobe informalware for this induction. That's really
I love it. Yoh hack Sawis my guy, bro? Yeah,
not too bad. He got ahe got ship on after he got caught
up with the Iron Chic. Ididn't know that. Remember him and the
Iron Sheet got pulled over for drinkingor one of them was doing drugs.
(43:45):
I don't remember like the context ofthe story, even though it's like kind
of there in my brain. Thatwasn't like in the mid either mid eighties
or nineties. That seems like thething to do in the eighties. Now,
Oh yeah, that was the thing. So we'll get back to this.
I want to see because Anthony isguying this information. Bob Armstrong was
(44:07):
like the original choir Boy or wrestling. Oh so it was like the Captain
America version of n w A.I think you'll be trying to get it.
I'm curious. But yeah, Sothe Iron Chic and hacks are driving
from one town to another. Uh, they're doing some swerving. The police
(44:28):
pull them over and then they bothget booked and thrown in jail. And
this makes a big headline news. But it also since it's breaking headline news
and making like waves, maybe they'relike, hey, if Hacksaw is a
good guy and the chik is abad guy, what are they doing traveling
together? Right? So they broughtand Vincent not like that, you got
(44:57):
a railroaded. Towards the end ofthis wwe run and then drink and do
drugs and drive with your friends anymore. Just joking, guys, never do
that ever, unless it's your state. Do it responsible. Just stay home.
Yeah, and then we have onelast time hb K. He's headlining
(45:21):
this Hall of Fame class. Afterhis final match that he had last year.
Oh, that was the Flair match, right, Oh, he had
the Undertaker match, the Undertaker one. That's right. I was thinking of
players last match, would I Well, I did not cry at all,
(45:45):
so okay, but it was Iwas emotional, but I was like,
I'm not gonna be like I'm gonnabe out here crying like I don't know,
like he's entertained me, but it'snot one of those things where it's
going to be like maybe in howevermany years if he passes, it'll hit
(46:07):
me emotionally, but it's not tothat point yet where I'm like, I'm
really gonna miss him, and he'snot going to be here because he still
is. He's working at the company. What is it the father of comics?
Why am I blanking in his nameright now? Yeah? Stanley,
(46:29):
and Stanley passed away, you wereI had to tell you, and You're
like what, But we actually gotto meet him and take a picture with
him. He's still doing awesome. So so why was his name the biggest
there conducted? Yeah? I know, but I'm just like it was a
(46:51):
little it was a little lengthy.Comes with the territory being the top guy's
true Okay, that's a good nuggetfrom Anthony here. And like the road
Dog was one of the Armstrongs,so he was saying, I guess they
had something like the Van Eric sohe was under that stable of being a
(47:14):
that's armstrong. What So after this, if you were riding the high of
seeing HBK the main event showstopper, you got to see the match of the
century. We have Michael Cole versusJerry the King Lawler and this match.
(47:39):
For some reason when thirteen minutes andforty five seconds, this match, oh
yes, it's I highly recommend psych. If you're watching and this was a
recommended match for you, please putit in the comments and explain to us
why you love this match. Besidesseeing Stone Cold reading in in his ATV.
(48:01):
That was that was that was Thatwas cool. But what's not cool
to borrow from Tokyo Carlito. Itwas Michael Cohen his wrestling gear. That
was not cool. Yeah, no, he's not. But he went to
the I believe, to Syracuse andthat's why he's all dressed in the orange
(48:23):
for the what is it the OrangeMan verse. I don't know the name,
but that's I didn't thank you forpointing that out, because I was
wondering why those colors? That makessense, so we got uh. Then
we had Jack Swager a company MichaelCole, and he's kind of like his
coach, and eventually Jerry is puttingon a whooping on Michael Cole and Jack
(48:46):
Schwager is like, no, mass, I'm throwing in the towel he did
with Rocky hesitated to do for Apolloand Rocky four and he threw it in
there. And guess what. StoneCold as a guest resferees like, thank
you. I was gaining the sweathere. It's hot in Georgia. Jack
one of the email villains, andlike a cobra, Kai yes. And
(49:09):
then Jack Sagger goes to argue becausehe wanted to match to stop and he
gets a center and yeah, youget a center. You'll get a center.
And then after this, you know, the King goes on offensive.
We don't need to see anymore. He technically wins, but guess what we
(49:32):
get a little Apple notification sound Idon't remember which one it is, and
it's an email from the raw anonymousgeneral manager, which I hated this era,
in particular of the w W Honestly, this is I kind of stopped
watching wrestling, Like right around thispoint. I was off and on in
(49:57):
this particular era where I was justlike, I I'm just gonna watch the
pay per views because they give youthe little scissor reels. So I'm like,
I'm just gonna snave the time andjust watch the pay per views and
we'll go from there. It happens, But yeah, it apparently did not.
The Raw anonymous general manager did notlike that Stone Cold put himself into
this match and reverses the decision. Thus, Jerry the King Longer Lawler no
(50:23):
longer wins this match, and thedecision goes to Michael Cole. This is
noted as one of the worst matchesin our Stalmania history. Well, how
do you feel as a new fan? I thought, okay, good,
So that statement stands. He usedto not go out there and watch this
(50:44):
match. He did not just donot need to see Michael Cole in his
wrestling gear. I need to seeanything in particular this match, So yeah,
just long, right? This matchshould have been one a minute in
thirty something seconds. Yeah, thereversal by the anonymous Raw general manager,
(51:06):
all of it terrible. Yes,with this, we can move on to
the highlight of the night. Highlightsthe best match in this card. I
think so too. We have thatis a recommended match for me. The
Undertaker putting a streak on the lineversus Hunter Hurst Elmsley triple h and this
(51:35):
yes three and this match goes fulltwenty nine minutes and twenty three seconds and
it's a no holds barred match.Damn. Yeah. Well I like the
triple for whom the belt hold.Yeah, he's wearing a mask in a
(51:59):
suit. I thought he looked prettyawesome. So that was impressive. Mm
hmm. And the Undertaker answers ain'tno great by Johnny Cash. Yeah,
but we didn't I get to hearthe music because they only had it for
the for the live Yeah, wejust got the regular Undertaker music for anyone
who may be watching it on Peacockor if you own the DVD or Blu
(52:23):
ray you might or the vhs.I don't know if they were still putting
out vhs were then what was thetwenty eleven Yeah, yeah, DVD,
definitely DVD for sure. Okay,So I was like, you never know,
I don't recall when they started doingwhere they stopped doing we see our
(52:45):
versions of it, I know, kind of stop caring once I got a
DVD player. So that's true.God, the two thousands banger of a
match, though, I was shockedbecause you said the length of it,
and good matches never feel that long, Like it felt like an awesome,
(53:05):
like ten twelve minute match, butonce you said twenty nine minutes, I
was like, damn, it wasthat long, but it was good.
I'm curious, who are you rootingfor? Oh? Okay, so Triple
H was my new favorite wrestler whenhe was Hunter Hurst Helmsley, you know,
mister I loved him for the minutehe came in, but then you
(53:30):
know, the dark side is alwayscool, so Undertaker. I wanted the
Undertaker to win because you know thestreak, that's who I was rooting for.
But I wouldn't have been mad ifTriple H would have ended it,
you know what I mean? Yeah, it's Undertaker, Yeah, yeah,
especially how we get it three yearsfrom now and who actually yeah, spoiler
(53:52):
the streak ends like in three wrestling. But yeah, I do the same
sentiment though, which is, ifTriple H had ended history at this point,
I would have been fine with that. Because it was such a good
match and the wrestling was so good. Triple H is growing on me.
I didn't really care for him duringhis medieval times Triple H his original persona,
(54:17):
but this match was solid. Uhhe you know, we get a
spinebuster. Yeah, let's take alittle table. Yeah. Here it is
bam, like for some reason theydecided not to take Michael Cole's coal mine
down. It's just this dangerous obstructionnear the allownedstables still while you guys are
gonna throw each other through. Sowe got those two guys. But I
(54:40):
like this picture that I found herewhere they're facing off. It's kind of
like to trib you like, yeah, so this was pretty cool. You
get the whole like setting the scene, getting the atmosphere of the Undertaker's entrance
and things along those lines. Soyeah, so that was pretty cool.
Those are some really good spots thatthey had there. I like the whole
(55:05):
thing where the Undertaker does a tombstone, but also Hunter gets to pull off
a tombstone of his own here andyou think that it's gonna be it well,
but it's not. And then youthink it's going to end the other
way where the Undertaker finally gets histombstone. So the false finishes that we
(55:27):
get here in the near falls,to me were perfect. It's like HBK
took Undertaker to the limit, andmaybe Hunter has that little bit more since
he's bigger than HBK, thinking thathe will probably be able to actually be
the one to beat the streak. And if you are watching for the first
(55:51):
time this match here, I'm goingto spoil this here, but yeah,
the Undertaker ends up winning here.He goes to nineteen and he falls to
the Hell's Gate, which is amove that we saw him I think first
incorporate a little bit ago. Ithink WrestleMania twenty two I think was where
(56:17):
we first saw it and it cameback to play here because the way the
story is like, the Undertaker maynot have had it anymore like power wise
to put it out, but youknow you had to put down the aggressor,
and what better way to do itthan the new mma move that you
(56:37):
were impressed by the Hell's Gate andhe gets carted away. Yeah, and
that's you know. The Undertaker hereis I think either forty four or forty
five, forty six, forty six. He's a young a young forty six,
yeah, and Hunter's forty one.Yeah. So there was one thing
(56:58):
that I wanted to talk about itreal fast too, when Taker jumped over
the top rope to the outside.Yeah he's forty six years old. Yeah,
that is incredible, Like, yeah, that was a spot that I
wanted to mention that's true. Yeah, No, that was a great Spotter
reminded of of. Was it thefirst HBK one where he he's supposed to
(57:22):
do his leap over the like histope over the top rope and he's supposed
to HBK is bringing the camera guylike the first HBK Undertaker match, and
the camera guy does not catch him. Super Fly Snooka's son and he like
it looks we had to watch ita few times from different angles. It
(57:43):
looks like the Undertaker actually hits hishead, but it really doesn't. Yeah
I remember that one now, Yeahyeah. So yeah, so's he's been
a daredevil Undertaker for a little bitas he's gotten up there with age,
but he's still putting on a showhere for us, which was great and
which is why we recommend that yougo out and watch this match with you're
(58:06):
a new fan or if you're aseasoned veteran, yourself a favor if you
haven't gone out to for some reason, you haven't heard or you haven't gotten
a chance to go out and seethis match. It's really good wrestling.
This is a really good match youwant to see, you know, how
you know a match that he's veryupset that, you know, the Undertaker
(58:32):
has taken out his friend. He'strying to get and prove that he is.
Storyline is bird like. The storylineis strange because the storyline is basically
telling us that Triple H is hereto defender, to get revenge because his
friend HBK was taken out. Okay, like kind of corny, but the
(58:54):
wrestling was awesome, and this isagain with Triple H. I have few
recommended matches for him. This isone of them. The wrestling is excellent,
So great job, guys, andthen we're gonna do it again next
year for Next Wrestling twenty eight. So is this a round of recommended matches?
(59:15):
Oh? Absolutely, because we're goingto break this this next one.
So we're going to break We're goingto break away from recommended matches during this
next uh these next two? Maybemaybe, yeah, definitely. The next
one. Yeah, so with thisgo out and it's a clean sweep of
(59:35):
recommended matches for the Undertaker versus TripleH. No holds bark. Now.
The next match we have here,it's your favorite match is the sixth person
tag. We have John Morrison withTrish Stratus making her wrestlming your Return,
(59:58):
and Nicole Holizi otherwise known as SnookieNiki from the Jersey Shore MTV show versus
Layla, Michelle McCool and Dolf Zigular. Yeah. This manage goes for three
minutes and fifteen minutes and sixteen seconds. Yeah, so Maria, what did
(01:00:22):
you think here? Wait? Iwant to know what you guys think first.
I'll let jangle the only celebrity I'vealways kind of hated celebrity matches.
This is not my thing. Celebrityreferees like the Mike Tyson one that one
time, that shit was dope. You can obviously tell where I'm going with
(01:00:43):
this. Don't waste your time.I didn't even bother to watch this when
I did the recap. I didn'twatch the recap for the recap, Like,
don't even waste your time. Likeit's just I have nothing positive to
say it's cool. Such status isa beast, you know. I like
Dolph Ziggler. John Morrison is cooltoo, But again, just that match
is just okay, he's done.Yeah, so we have Snooky come in
(01:01:15):
in here. Yeah, she's pointingthere. She's part of the I believe
the shirt set of Brunette Mafia becauseTris Strattis actually matches her too with heir.
We've used to seeing Trish wearing herblonde locks, and she also comes
out here with some dark colored hair, so I guess that's what they're trying
(01:01:40):
to say here. But yeah,so this match starts off with a little
bit of a skirmish here after JohnMorrison is getting in uh Snooky's face,
Sneaky slaps him, and we haveSnooky eventually getting in there and showing off
(01:02:01):
some of her skills. She doesthat those cartwheels or whatever, those gymnastics
hit cartwheel splash, and then shedoes this little standing kind of backflip on
to Michelle McCool. Yeah, andthen we end up getting Snooky wins.
(01:02:24):
Snukie is not just about the fistpump. She's got some serious ring skills
too. I think that's from herteer leading background when I'm saying yeah,
but as far as me, yeah, I do not recommend it this match
goes. I do want to havea tidbit to add and so originally with
this match it was John Morrison wonand Melina his girlfriend at the time match,
(01:02:52):
but Vince did not want to havethat. So during the whole thing,
it's kind of like an awkward exchangebetween John and Trish, and John
Morrison actually is not like like hishands being raised, but he's like trying
not to like like sell it asbeing happy and things like that. So
eventually, like after this ends,Trish, you know, like Trish is
(01:03:16):
continuing to be involved with the withthe company, but John Morrison and Malina
are both let go and eventually thatrelationship falls apart and John Morrison ends up
marrying someone else. Tie a ValkyrieLa Loka for those people who have followed
her from her and her Luca Undergroundcareer, and now she's in a wood
(01:03:43):
tad Bets. Thanks for the moves, Bush. So I believe you said
that you do recommend people go outand watch this match. Fans, friends,
family listening watching this is a recommendedmatch for me. Why because you
get the handsome John Morrison handsonf Siggler. Yeah, Trisha Astratus is an awesome
(01:04:12):
wrestler. And if you want tosee Nicole Snooki Polizzi Polichi do an awesome
cartwheel and a finish, it's prettycool to see her do that. So
I think we all grew up watchingmaybe not you guys, but the Jersey
Shore here and there, and Ithought it was pretty awesome. I'm really
(01:04:33):
proud of her, really happy tosee her pull these moves, and that's
why it was a recommended match forme. It was a little silly,
a little fun, and a goodway to kill some time during WrestleMania.
So it's a recommended match for him. Whah God, I love your perspectives,
just like, damn it, youmake solid points. I mean,
(01:04:53):
I'm still not going to recommend it, but I'm like, Okay, it's
fucking accurate. Who doesn't want tosee figured men and hot women? Like,
come on, that's true, it'strue. That's a break. Yeah,
she's like the perfect person that Vincewould have wanted or other time.
Yeah, what you want to seemore have naked men? Yes, I
(01:05:15):
thought everybody was cold during this match. Again, thanks for the tidbits.
That's interesting to know that they weren'ton the ww you know, like too
long after this, But it wasfun. It's a nice break. Yeah,
yep. And with this we getto the main event, John Cena
(01:05:35):
versus The Miss for the WWE spinnerBeilt Championship, and this match goes for
fifteen minutes and twenty one seconds.I'm not sure if that's actually counting,
like the spoiler alert, if you'relike watching us in order to get an
(01:05:58):
idea if you should watch this Missand John Cena match just as a break
in it, because they add onto it. So I'm not sure if
that fifteen minutes and twenty one secondsincludes that. Do you think this was
masgnificent? No? I did notthink it was any thing into it.
I'm probably gonna shit all over thismatch. You didn't think it was fantastic?
(01:06:18):
Yeah, but uh, let's goahead and we'll do the opposite of
a compliment sandwich. So yeah,John, with you being the guess,
you can go first, and thenMaria can go in with the middle part
of the compliments. Okay, oppositeof the shit only Okay, they took
(01:06:42):
a little bit too long. Itwas just really boring. John Cena is
from Massachusetts, where I'm from,so that's cool. Yeah, I've never
been a fan of the Miss.I liked him on the real world.
I respect him again, I respectevery single person that I'm talking about.
The John Cena the same thing, like cool, John Cena's cool. But
again, this was kind of thereason why I stopped watching wrestling, was
(01:07:05):
because I was getting kind of burntout of like shit like this match.
I can't say anything positive, sogo ahead the reverse positive sandwich. John
cena Is intro. The choir wasawesome. Okay, I didn't think we
(01:07:27):
could tap like any of John Cena'sintroductions. The Miss, which is misfortunate,
doesn't get a great introduction here whatever, he's a heel, right,
But John Cena's introduction and that choir, I did not have an opportunity to
look up the singers, but didthey do it. They were amazing singers.
(01:07:48):
Oh my goodness. And then Idon't know if it's like one of
the main vocalists was so good itwas the best part of this match was
the introduction to John Cena. Imean, you ain't wrong, You're not
wrong, your points are always valid, so fifteen minutes and twenty one seconds.
This match does go for a while. There's definitely good spots, you
(01:08:12):
know, we get his five knuckleshuffle, we get them outside of the
ring. They're much more I don'twant to say like brawlers, but I
like their moves during this match. It was a solid match and definitely a
recommended match for me. Was Ihappy with the finish? I wasn't the
first finish or the second fish, the sud finish. I think the Miz
(01:08:34):
could have won a little bit cleaner, a little bit better. We could
have got like a good wrap upfor him. That was kind of a
failure for me, But otherwise Ithought it was a good match. What
about you. Yeah, I donot recommend any person go out here and
watch this match not even see therock. I mean, if you want
(01:08:54):
to see the rock, then youcan fast forward to the end. Uh
Yeah, But I thought this matchdid a great disservice to the way these
guys probably work. So, yes, we have the miss out here,
and yes he's still growing into hiswrestling career, but he you have a
(01:09:15):
put up against John Cena, andthen John Cena is not like the greatest
Matt person here and the first thinghappens here right off, like first few
seconds of the match, we havethem in a tie up, so we
get these guys in the tie up. We're already trying to predict that this
match guess it is gonna go alittle bit long at least fifteen minutes,
(01:09:39):
which if the timer is right hereand it's not including the rock coming in
afterwards, is already gonna be toolong for this match. Like over the
years of WrestleMania, Vince has beentrying to get the Sena over as more
of a mad techtician, and that'swhat we've had seen to tap out HBK
(01:10:01):
and Triple H to that STFU,and I just like he's still very limited
as far as like the moves,as far as being able to sell them
and have someone else to actually, you know, help him push and get
those over with the crowd. Inmy opinion, those are these are like
(01:10:25):
two pretty much contract contrasting styles. We have the mis who tample off some
of those moves. See it's kindof more agile obviously than John Cena,
but you can't have them start anytype of uh type of techtitional type of
matches like this so, and thenyou have this false finish where you have
(01:10:50):
them for some reason out and aboutto be counted out the matches and then
count out technically, but hold on. The Rock comes down, and while
the Rock is already going to makean announcement that he's probably going to restart
the match, we get another AppleTrillian thing and it's the raw anonymous general
(01:11:15):
manager, which the Rock is gonnaread just like Michael cole is, and
I quote blah blah blah, andthe Rock says, you know what,
I'm not going to read this,But essentially he's going to restart the match
because we can't have a WrestleMania. And in a double count out and the
match is restarting, Johnsena sees hisopportunity. He's trying to throw the Miz
(01:11:36):
back into the ring and it's tryingto give him the attitude adjustment. The
Miss is holding onto the ropes. He goes to the other side, Johnsena
punches him. He for some reasonturns around on his own volition and takes
the Rock bottom and there's a newNo DQ match, and then the Miss
(01:11:58):
wins and retain No. This Idid not like in particular the way,
and then I didn't mind that theRock interfere, but Vince had this whole
thing booked where we're basically building amatch between The Rock and John Cena a
(01:12:19):
year in advance, and because he'sbooking this match a year in advance,
he's pretty much shitting on this match, right, Like this match is like
it's it's it really doesn't matter ifthe if the Miz would have lost or
retained here because it has nothing todo with what's going to be the main
(01:12:43):
event for next year, which isThe Rock versus John Cena, and it's
it just didn't like it because it'svery insulting. I agree, because I'm
like, yo, it's The Rockand John Cena. You don't need a
year to build them up, likeyou don't, you don't and that's yeah,
(01:13:03):
But like I didn't. I hatedthis match. I watched about on
the recap. I got maybe likefifteen seconds in and I said, I've
watched enough I remember. But yeah, it's coming from a person who's practically
watched wrestling my whole life, likethis, don't watch this match. Yeah,
(01:13:26):
I'm with him, just because likeyou had these guys go for that
far. And then you give likeno type of finish, but you're like,
oh, we're gonna give you afinish, but it's still not a
definitive finish because you still have theRock interfering with the match. So it's
like it feels like it gives norespect to the people working this match.
(01:13:51):
What about you, fresh pair ofeyes? So were you recommended? I
still recommend that the ending sock forme, that second ending, But as
far as watching it for like anew person coming in, I'd say watch
it again. The introduction was prettyawesome for John Cena. I enjoyed watching
(01:14:11):
John Cena. Like you said,do they need a whole year of build
up for a storyline? No theydon't, But I endured watching the match,
so that's what I have. Nice. Yeah, all right, And
with this, you all didn't talkabout seeing me Young with the Rock oh
a little bit, yet John's overit? Are you over seeing me Young?
(01:14:36):
I mean, she's fine, butyeah, it's it's just felt so
forced and again like this is thebiggest WrestleMania why because the Rock is back.
Like again, at the time,I was all for that ship,
but again watching it now, I'mlike, this could have been a fucking
episode of RAW. That's what Ifelt like it really could have been,
(01:14:59):
Like it's crazy there again, thereare big moments that happened, but on
the whole, like looking at thewhole pay per view this this is just
some Monday night Raw. I thinkthe stage was pretty awesome. Oh yeah,
remember, yeah, pretty yeah, and they kept the they kept the
whole decoration like the previous one.I'm not sure if you have to watch
six. I mean I I can'tremember right now. They have this thing
(01:15:20):
in the middle, kind of likea screen that drops style, but it's
like one big circle. Oh yeah, they kept that. They kept this
and it's like a cube cue thistime. Yeah, that's right. So
I thought that was a pretty coolthing that they kept as part of the
stage. Yeah. That fire.As far as this wrestlming is concerned,
I only have one man that Iwould recommend, only one and then one.
(01:15:45):
If you're a fan and for somereason have not watched anything newer of
CM Punk, or if you've onlywatched the newer stuff of Seaming Punk,
go back and watch this match ofBrandy Orton versus Seeing Punk. Have any
other tidbits before we get into noI don't. All right, So,
since we are on our journey ofWrestleMania that we will be attending Live John,
(01:16:11):
we've been kind of like speculating andadding our own thoughts about how the
card is shaping up of WrestleMania Nightone and Night two. So we had
some interesting things happen in Raw andSmackDown. So we finally got confirmation that
we're gonna have a brother versus brothermatch. We're gonna have Jimmy and Jay
(01:16:32):
facing off here at WrestleMania. Whatdo you think about that? I think
it's pretty awesome. It's not thefirst brother and brother match that we've seen,
so, but I am looking forwardto it. Are you sad?
No? Actually I don't. Idon't watch I don't watch Raw or SmackDown.
I read the results because I justdon't have time to do it.
(01:16:55):
Is this the first legitimate brother versusbrother match? It's the third one.
The first one was in WrestleMania tenwith Bred and Owen. Oh shit,
that's right, Okay, okay, okay, all right, but yeah,
I like the usso's they're cool. And then we had WrestleMania twenty five where
we had the Hearty's facing off eachother. Damn. That's right, Okay,
(01:17:18):
because I was thinking, like Iremember like Canaan Undertaker, but I'm
like, they're not really brothers,so that's right, right right? Hell
yeah? I like the usso's man, those are Rakishi's boys, right yeah,
yeah, all three of them rightnow. Well, even though Solo
does not have the USO name attachedto him. Yeah right right. Also,
(01:17:38):
one of the brothers of Jimmy andJay is the youngest brother. Yes,
she is one. I don't thinkhe's like the youngest. I think
he has like one more son,but I don't think he's wrestling with the
company right now. Okay, wehave that, we have all the tag
team matches for as far as araw side. Uh it's that six pack
(01:18:02):
ladder match, which I did notlike. What do you think about that?
Uh? John? About the sixpack ladder match titles? Give me
all the fucking ladders anytime, yes, any any type of super violent match
or there's the potential to be likea crazy spot. I love ladder matches.
(01:18:27):
I real fuck. This was acouple of years ago, but I
remember there was like a Kofi Kingstonmaybe it was the money in the bank
match and I was like, ohshit, this boy is nasty, and
that kind of got me back intowrestling. It was a ladder match,
it really was, so I II'm all for it. I'm all for
it, man. It definitely hadto be one of the ladder matches,
(01:18:47):
the money in the bank ladder matches. We haven't had that. I think
you got retired last Wrestlemingius twenty sixevent, right, Yeah, that's what
it was. Yes, Yes,it was the money in the Bank event,
right. So we got like threemore tag teams, which I don't
like the way this went. Sofor Raw, all you had to have
(01:19:10):
was one single match. You winthat match and you're already put in the
six packs. So we had dI. Y Winning, the Awesome Truth
Winning, and the New Day.So those three teams plus the Judgment Day,
which are the unified tag team champions, those four to those four teams
have been announced, but SmackDown theyhad to have some type of bracket style
(01:19:32):
elimination thing going. So right now, with that, we still have the
Street Profits that it could end uppossibly winning, and then you have some
other team, but whoever wins fromthat one takes up the final spot.
(01:19:57):
But that only leaves us with five. So then we have like a rise
uh Battle Royal or something. We'reall like a scramble where all the remaining
losing teams are gonna vie for thatlast final spot. And I just think
that they just thought that this tagteam was like gonna be like they're like
(01:20:17):
someone reminded them that they have tagteam titles and they're like, well,
what are we gonna do? Wehad like you had to give them a
match, and they're like, well, let's just do this, and they
just drugged it. They dragged thisuh tournament style thing just to have them
out there. So I don't likethe way it's set up. Like,
(01:20:38):
do I mind it being a sixman one? No, but I think
it might be too much having thesix teams. But I don't really think
that it's gonna be I don't thinkJudgment Day retains actually, so it's gonna
be one of these newer teams probably, but who none of these teams are
(01:21:00):
right now that I'm looking at,so I can't really see, so they'll
have to see how it goes. But I do want to keep an eye.
Yeah, it's a TVD. Ican't make any predictions now, but
I do like that. I thinkthey're working an angle on raw where they're
trying to get a Chad Gable toprobably make this a three way between Sammy
(01:21:20):
Sam and Gunter. Oh, Gunter, that's my guy. Bro m nobody
got chops like Gunter. Holy shit, he'd be beating people up. I
love it. Yeah, So thatthat's going to be interesting if they do
end up making it a three way, because I for sure Gunter is gonna
drop the belt and who it's probablyI think most of the majority of the
(01:21:45):
fans are on team Chad Gable, that he should get that run. They
should have pulled that trigger a littlebit go. But I think that this
whole thing with Hunter booking, he'skind of been like a little bit late
to the party and pulling the triggerand something for me like but not having
Chad actually beat gun there a littlebit earlier for that belt. You could
(01:22:10):
have you know, freed up gunthrough the challenge for maybe one of the
other belts. But and then myother thought is I still don't think that
Cody should have won last year againstyou on that But yeah, yeah,
so I'm still on that and Istill don't think you should win this year,
(01:22:35):
But I think the person that shouldhave done it should have been Sammy's
saying as much as it would havebeen like yeah, it was you know,
he's not gonna last, He's notgonna That was the whole point in
my head, like the story waswritten, Sammy was kind of bringing down
(01:22:56):
the bloodline. He had already turnedJimmy and he was bringing it and then
like you know, kind of getbreaking it down and then you could have
transitioned into another champion, Like yeah, it would have sucked because it was
you know, it was a transitionalchampion. But the whole point was of
the storyline was for the bloodline tocome down. And now we have Cody
(01:23:19):
who now is kind of like supposedto bring down the blood line, but
it's he had his chance, andit's not about it's finishing the story and
finishing the story. That whole thingis just story was finished. You lost,
right, damn it. So nothingelse happened on Raw that I could
(01:23:47):
point out. Now on SmackDown,we might have gotten a little bit more
of a push on who might bechallenging the tag the women's tag team titles
Oscar and Harry saying we had Biancaactually come out and do the save for
(01:24:09):
Bailey. When Bailey was getting attackedby Damage Control, Naomi was going out
there and having the match with EO, and then eventually, you know,
they they were kind of starting tobeat down on Naomi and when Bailey goes
(01:24:30):
out there to help her, they'restill getting their butts kicked. And then
Bianca Beller comes out there and eventhough she hesitated because of the whole thing
where Bailey had helped screw her whenshe came back with Damage Control when she
lost her belt. So yeah, yeah, yeah, so if they eventually
(01:24:53):
made that thing, and I thinkit would be cool that she's going to
get tech titles because the tech titlesneed Like I don't mind that it's been
Osca and Kyrie, but they've justbeen like covering and not doing anything.
It's like some type of holding patternuntil they're figuring it out, which is
one of the other things, likejust like the male ones. Yeah once
(01:25:15):
just and it could have been justbecause of the injuries that we right,
but people knees and things. God. Yeah, really this interesting point because
I remember tag teams were huge upuntil like the mid nineties, and then
they kind of became like an afterthought, and recently it's like you said,
(01:25:39):
it's there, but they still don'tknow what to kind of do. But
I think, yeah, that thosegirls wanted that the titles need to be
elevated and it needs to be onpeople that everybody cares about, not like,
oh yeah, my favorite wrestler, she's a tag team champ, but
she's not everybody's favorite wrestler, youknow what I mean. So you need
to have those people with those beltselevated, and then it can go to
(01:26:00):
anybody else because you know, it'san elevated belt. At that point,
you can create all types of storylinesand what have you, betrayals and all
that good shit. So, yeah, don't get it together, man,
don't get it. But when youhave the most superstars on the planet for
what thirty years without a competition, you don't need tag teams. Yeah.
(01:26:21):
And then one more thing I thinkon the SmackDown portion is we got the
announcement of Jade Cargill. She finallymade a decision that she's going to be
coming a SmackDown. Now, somepeople might shit on me for saying this,
(01:26:42):
but like they held this announcement outfor like two months for a long
time, and I'm like, youknew what you were going to do with
her, like, and you haven'tput her on NXT like they put some
talents on NXT, like for example, Baron Corbet and then uh, I
forget the other guy that was inthe brawl and Brutes that got taken back
(01:27:04):
down, But uh was it ReddickMoss or somebody else they got? But
they're not afraid to I guess, like in an NBA or like a Major
League Baseball team to send you backdown to the developmental So why couldn't they
just have her do a couple ofmatches at NXT and then yeah, I'm
(01:27:29):
a I watched AW faithfully. That'sthe time that I have for wrestling.
Everything else, I read and andwatch recaps. I knew the minute she
joined AW. I'm like, she'sgoing to WWE. And what I thought
was that they were gonna put herexclusively in NXT so she can learn the
WWE style of wrestling and all thatshit, because even in AW, like,
(01:27:50):
yeah, she's a beast, butshe's not. You can tell she's
still green, you know, SoI thought they would have just threw her
into NXT. Let her do herthing, demolish the whole roster there,
get that practice, and then getcalled up to the main roster. But
I mean I don't run that company, so we'll see how it works out.
(01:28:11):
Yeah all right, So well that'stoo latest tidbits here. I probably
just need to see one more weekof programming before hopefully they fill out this
card a little bit more, sowe can do a breakdown hopefully by next
week what we predict to win andthings like that. But you never know.
(01:28:32):
And yeah, John, do youhave anything to promote in? Oh?
Sure, you can check out mywrestling podcast. I do a regular
sports podcast. It's all on thesame channel, the Minority Sports Report.

(01:28:53):
just like this pack of WWE cardsabout to open up. Oh I'm
so excited. Let me see whatwe got. Eighty seven nineteen eighty seven.
The gun is stuck to the thecars stuck together too. Don't do
(01:29:14):
it? The superstars speak. Ican't even read it. It's faded.
Hold on, how does it fadeinside of a peg? Because the gun
was stuck to it? So Ican't read, Okay, But oh,
George the animals animal. Still, that's awesome. I don't even know what
this says, bro hold On,I think that is. I think that's
(01:29:41):
King Harley race hold On, letme see. Oh, it's probably the
brain heat enforces an opponent to bowto King Harley. Wow, after he
has won, all losers must bowto the contest when they I think when
they had the match with the JunkyardDog. Yeah, and he forced though.
Fuck, this is so so blurry. I can't damn it. It's
(01:30:04):
like the Great Kamala Coma. Andwho is he heading? It doesn't say
who's he's leaning over. Okay,God, this is crazy. I was
just expecting, like, not this. That's pretty impressive. Let's see.
Oh ship, mister mister Fiji, mister Fuji, mister Fuji. We got
(01:30:27):
us here, Hercules and Bobby thebrain heening trying to get it to focus.
Oh focused, I'm impressed, butreally good. Dach. Oh ship
