La rivoluzione di “Lavender” nell’esperienza israeliana a Gaza

Attraverso le tecnologie dell’intelligenza artificiale (AI), stiamo assistendo all’inizio di un’altra rivoluzione militare (RMA, Revolution in Military Affairs). Come la polvere da sparo, i carri armati, gli aerei e la bomba atomica in passato, l’AI oggi è pronta a definire un nuovo concetto di guerra, i suoi tempi e spazi. In tale ottica, gli Stati stanno utilizzando al meglio l’AI specialmente in aree urbane “complesse” dove la distinzione tra combattenti e civili è sfumata. Ormai l’AI è uno strumento essenziale per la pianificazione militare, le operazioni informatiche e informative. Abbiamo visto recentemente le sue applicazioni in Ucraina per identificare obiettivi russi e, successivamente, con le forze di difesa israeliane (Idf, Israel Defense Forces) nella guerra Israele-Hamas. Tuttavia, l’uso dell’AI solleva questioni etiche significative, portando l’attenzione sul ruolo della supervisione umana. Nel 2024 è stato svelato l’utilizzo del software Lavender nel conflitto Israele-Hamas a Gaza, il programma sviluppato dalle Idf per l’identificazione di obiettivi.
