Friedrich Jeckeln, da fallito a macellaio del Terzo Reich

L’Obergruppenführer delle SS, Friedrich August Jeckeln, fu il principale responsabile di alcuni dei peggiori pogromavvenuti nell’Europa orientale occupata dai nazisti, tra il 1941 e il 1944.Come comandante superiore delle SS e della polizia (Höhere SS und Polizeiführer, HSSPF) – nella Russia meridionale nel commissariato del Reich in Ucraina, con sede e Kiev – eseguì terribili carneficine. Divenuto in seguito anche comandante del Reichskommissariat Ostland[2] di Riga, in Lettonia, dal 30 ottobre 1941, lasciò anche qui una scia di sangue e dolore. Per di più, dal 22 febbraio 1944, Jeckeln ottenne lo stesso incarico anche per la Russia settentrionale aumentando il suo potere fino al gennaio 1945. Una volta catturato dai sovietici, prima di essere giustiziato, confessò di aver causato la morte di un numero di persone che va dalle 190.500 alle 253.500 sottolineando, però, che non era in grado di fornire cifre precise.
