Dark Cast Network. Welcome to thedark side of podcasts. They would be
re quite batimal dark world of ritualisticchodabase. Is there a well organized plot
and insidious design to program the mindsof our children? Boards of the occult

(00:25):
and witchcraft? Does it make youwant to hate murder? Let's explore the
darkness of mankind from one crime ata Time. Welcome back to Rogue Darkness,
the podcast that uncovers how the misinterpretationsand misinformation surrounding witchcraft, the occult,
and other beliefs have led many todo unthinkable crimes. From ritualistic killings

(00:50):
and the demons that live in allof us, to exploration of the macabre
and delving deep into the unknown.Let's explore the darkness of mankind one crime
a time. I'm your host ofthe grim and Gruesome Raven. Let's go
rogue and get right into today's chillingcrime, the case of a twisted killer,
the Vampire of Barcelona, none otherthan Enriquetta Marty. Today we'll be

(01:18):
exploring the story of Enriquetta Marti, the Spanish serial killer from Barcelona whose crimes
were so heinous and depraved that theystill continue to haunt the city of Barcelona
to this day. This episode willcontain graphic depictions of the events that occurred
during Enricutta's horrific killing spree, includingchild abduction and kidnapping, entrapment, prostitution,

(01:44):
body dismemberment and mutilation, pedophilia, child sacrifice, and the use of
perceived black magic. Listener discretion isstrongly advised. Enriquetta's life was full of
contradictions. On one hand, shewas a beggar, dressed in rags and

(02:06):
wandering the streets of desolate parts ofthe town, while on the other hand,
she was a wealthy procureur of children, offering her services to the elite
members of Barcelona society. So nowlet's go back in time and start off
from the very beginning. Enriquetta Martywas born in Tarragona, Spain, in

(02:36):
eighteen sixty eight. She was abandonedby her parents as a child and would
go on to grow up and extremepoverty. These poor conditions that she grew
up in would ultimately lead her toa life of prostitution. She moved to
Barcelona in the early twentieth century andset up a brothel in the Revolt district,

(02:57):
a notorious area known for its crimeand poverty. In eighteen ninety five,
Enriquetta married a painter named Jean Puhallo, but their marriage was doomed to
fail. Pujello cited Riquetta's numerous affairswith other men, her seemingly unpredictable character,
and her frequent visits to houses ofill repute as the ultimate reasonings for

(03:21):
their separation. Despite the separation, though, Enriquetta continued to frequent these establishments
and engage in prostitution. But thatwas just the tip of the iceberg.
Enriquetta's true horror lie in her doublelife as a child killer and witch doctor.

(03:43):
She selected abandoned children, taking themby the hand and passing them off
as her own during the day,but when night fell, she would go
on to either prostitute the children ormurder them. She would lure the children
into her brothel with promises of foodand shell her, and then would subject
them to unspeakable acts of torture andabuse. She didn't need to beg for

(04:05):
money, as her double life asa procureur and prostitute gave her all the
money she needed to live a comfortablelife. Enricqutta was a master manipulator who
preyed on the most vulnerable members ofsociety, most commonly children. Enriquetta's notoriety
grew in nineteen o nine during whatwas known as the Tragic Week, when

(04:28):
she was arrested for running a brothelthat offered sexual services to children as young
as three years old. With herarrest, a young man from a wealthy
family was also taken into custody. However, her high connections in Barcelona society
allowed her to avoid trial and herbrothel was lost in the judicial and bureaucratic

(04:48):
system. As horrifying as all ofthis information is, Enriquetta's horror did not
stop there. She was a skilledpractitioner of the dark, and she believed
that she could harness the power ofthe supernatural to enhance her own power and
wealth. She practiced as a witchdoctor, using the remains of the children

(05:10):
she had killed to make remedies. She used everything she could from their bodies,
including their fat, blood, hair, and bones, which she would
then turn into powder. Enricutta offeredsalves, ointments, filters, cataplasms,
and potions to treat tuberculosis and otherdiseases that had no cure at that time.

(05:33):
Wealthy people paid large sums of moneyfor her remedies, unaware of their
horrifying origin. They did not knowshe had used the bones, blood,
and organs of her child victims inher rituals, and she had sold them
potions and cures made from those verybody parts. The people of Barcelona were
terrified of Enricutta, but she managedto a vague capture for years thanks to

(05:57):
her connections to the criminal underworld andher reputation as a powerful witch. Despite
this, her luck eventually ran out. Enricetta's reign of terror came to an
end in nineteen twelve when she kidnappedher last victim, Terracita Guitart, conghost
for two weeks, the city searchedfor the little girl. Public indignation grew

(06:20):
as authorities appeared passive towards the missingchildren. Eventually, though, a suspicious
neighbor found Terracita's trail. Enricutta's flatat Mezzanine number twenty nine of Potent Street
became the focus of the investigation. When police entered her flat there, they
found Terracita, along with another girlnamed Angelita. After a statement was given,

(06:46):
Teracita was returned to her parents. She explained to them how Enriquetta took
her by the hand, promising hercandies, but when she realized she was
being taken too far from her home, Terracita became afraid. Enriquetta then cut
her hair and changed her name toFelicidad, telling her she no longer had
parents and was to call her stepmotherfrom then on. Enriqutta fed Terrasita potatoes

(07:12):
and stale bread, and was saidto prefer to pinch her rather than to
beat her. The girl was prohibitedfrom looking out of the windows or even
going on to the balconies, aswell as several rooms within the flat.
Angelina's declaration was even more terrifying. She claimed that before Terrasita's arrival, there
was a five year old boy namedPepito. Angelida secretly witnessed Enriquetta, whom

(07:38):
she had began calling mom, killedPepito on the kitchen table. At the
time, Enriquetta did not realize thatAngelia had just witnessed her committing the murder,
and so Angelida ran to hide inher bed, where she pretended to
sleep. Enriquetta claimed that Angelida washer daughter by her estranged husband, Juan

(07:58):
Puhallo. Buhallo stated that he hadnot lived with her for many years,
that they had not had children, and that he did not know where Angelida
had came from. In the secondinspection of the flat, detectives found the
horror that Enricquetta Marti was hiding. There, they found fifty pitchers, jars
and washbowls containing preserved human remains.Investigators also found false walls within two other

(08:26):
flats where Enricquetta had lived. Withinthe ceilings of those flats, they found
even more human remains. Further investigationrevealed housing in Saint Feleu de le Bragat,
property of Enriquetta's family, where theyfound remains of children in vases and
jars, along with books of remedies. The police also uncovered several curious things

(08:52):
within Enriquetta's flat, including an ancientbook with parchment covers, a book of
notes where she had written recipes andpotions, elegant calligraphy, a package of
letters and notes written in a codedlanguage, and a list with names of
families and very important figures within Barcelona. Among the population. It was believed

(09:13):
that this list was Enricutta's rich clientlist. The public believed that the suspected
clients would not have to pay fortheir crimes of pedophilia, or of even
buying human remains from Enriquetta to treattheir health because of their wealth and status.
The police tried to stop the listsfrom leaking, but rumors ran wild
and the information got out. Henricutta'sarrest sent shockwaves throughout the city, with

(09:39):
many families wandering if their children wereamong her victims. As the police dug
deeper into the case, they foundthat Enriquetta was not just a kidnapper and
a murderer, but also a practicingwhich doctor. Her potions and remedies made
from the remains of the children shehad killed were highly sought after by the

(10:01):
wealthy and the elite. They werewilling to pay top dollar for these cures,
no matter what the cost. Enricutta'sdouble life had been shrouded in mystery
and secrecy for many years, andthe revelation of her true nature sent shockwaves
throughout the town. How could someonewho begged on the streets during the day

(10:22):
and mingled with the wealthy and thepowerful at night be capable of such heinous
crimes. The public was absolutely outragedand demanded justice for the innocent children who
had been taken from their families andwho were never seen again. The authorities
finally took action, and Enricuetta wasarrested and put on trial for her crimes.

(10:45):
Over the course of her trial,Enriquetta was linked to the disappearance of
dozens of children from the Raveled district. She was accused of kidnapping, murder,
and trafficking in human body parts. Her crimes were so gruesome and to
pray that the people of Barcelona wereshocked and appalled. It's presumed that she
may have kidnapped a large number ofchildren during her twenty year reign of terror,

(11:09):
some of her victims including newborn babies. During her trial, Henriquetta remained
defiant and unrepentant, claiming that heractions were necessary to protect her clients and
their families from harm. But theevidence against her was overwhelming, and she
was eventually found guilty and sentenced todeath. Because of the limited evidence,

(11:33):
though forensic experts were only able toidentify a dozen children who were likely Enriquetta's
victims, due to her half hazardrecord keeping, it's difficult to determine if
she was the deadliest killer in Spanishhistory. Nevertheless, it's clear that she
terrorized the city of Barcelona for manyyears. The public grew increasingly fearful as

(11:56):
children continue to vanish without a trace. Henricuetta was eventually convicted of her crimes
and sentenced to death. However, she managed to cheat justice one last time.
On May twelfth, nineteen thirteen,Henriquetta was found dead in her cell,
having apparently taken her own life bypoisoning herself. The legacy of Henriquetta

(12:20):
Marty continues to haunt Barcelona even tothis day. Her crimes have since become
the stuff of legend. Her nameis synonymous with evil and depravity, and
her story continues to fascinate as wellas terrified true crime enthusiasts all around the
globe. Her crimes were so shockingand brutal that they left an indelible mark

(12:43):
on the city's psych Some people believethat her spirit still haunts the Revolt District,
seeking revenge against those who wronged herin life. Others believe that her
crimes were part of a larger conspiracyinvolving the rich and powerful within Barcelona,
and that she was merely a pausein a much larger game. Whatever the

(13:03):
truth may be, though, thestory of Henriquetta Marty serves as a cautionary
tale about the dangers of unchecked powerand the dark allure of the supernatural.
The remains of her victims were neverproperly identified or even laid to rest,
and their spirits are said to hauntthe streets of Barcelona to this day.
Some people claim to have seen theghostly figures of children wandering the alleys and

(13:28):
courtyards of El Raval, still searchingfor their long lost families. HENRIQUETTEA Marty
may be gone, but her reignof terror will never be forgotten. Her
story serves as a chilling reminder thatevil can lurk in the most unexpected of
places, and that sometimes the mostterrifying monsters are the ones who hide in

(13:50):
plain sight. So that was thedisturbing case of the notorious Vampire of Barcelona,
the Spanish serial killer, and RiquettaMarty. If you have any questions
