Speaker 1 (00:02):
Dark Cast Network. Welcome to the dark side of podcasts.
Dark World a ritualistic child abuse? They would do that,
replied Donal an insidious design right now to program and

(00:22):
influence the minds of our children. Forwards the occult and witchcraft,
Let's explore the darkness of mankind one crime at a time.
Does it make you want to hate? Murder? What does
it make you want to do? Welcome back to Rogue Darkness,

(00:44):
the podcast that uncovers how the misinterpretations and misinformation surrounding witchcraft,
the occult, and other beliefs have led many to do
unthinkable crimes. From ritualistic killings and the demons that live
in all of us, to exploration of them cob and
delving deep into the unknown. Let's explore the darkness of mankind,

(01:05):
one crime at a time. I'm your host of the
Grim and Gruesome Raven. This episode won't be our usual
eerie crime case. Instead, I wanted to go to the
other side of darkness, to the paranormal, and discuss some
of the creepiest real life cases of individuals who played
with a wija board and who had a more than

(01:27):
they bargained for experience. I've always personally loved wija boards
and have played them in the past, building on some
of my own experiences. Whether or not you believe them
to be actual tools used to commerce with the dead,
or if it's just a mental happening where our bodies
react in a way we subconsciously expect, it still proves
to be an entertaining tale that many enjoy to scare

(01:48):
each other with. I searched a lot of different sites
and will be using three references for this episode, but
if you'd like to check them out further, all the
links will be down in the show notes. For the
first tale, Let's voyage over to reader's digest dot com,
where one person named Randy tells of his creepy experience
involving a wija board and his favorite childhood doll. Randy

(02:11):
learned what a wija board was the hard way when
two of his family members introduced him to one when
they were all children. My brother and cousin were older
than us, says the thirty six year old Michigan resident.
This particular time, they had come home with a wija board.

(02:32):
We agreed to play and to turn off the lights
and light a candle. Randy sat down with his favorite doll,
Kelly at his side, nervously waiting in the dark. We
started playing and asking questions, he says, and before we
knew it, the planchette started moving around in a pointed direction.
It traveled the board, dragging itself to the letter K.

(02:53):
It then made its way to E and L. For
a moment, it paused, then quickly circled right back for
another L, before finally landing on WHY. Next thing we
knew there was a loud bang against the radiator and
everyone started screaming. Randy recounts. We turned on the lights
and by the radiator was the severed head of my

(03:15):
favorite doll, Kelly. For this second tale, let's head over
to Haunted Rooms, where the individual discusses how their experience
with the board was a little less frightening and much
more eye opening. I have a very close friend whose
mother practices white wicca, so we followed some of those
instructions for setting up the wija board with around four

(03:36):
or five other girls. We were around fourteen at the time.
One girl was the leader, and she had to set
up what was known as a safe circle, a circle
of salt that enclosed us the wijaboard the table we
were working on and the glass we were using as
the planchette. The salt, according to wicked lore, was to

(03:56):
keep out negative spirits that meant to do us harm.
Only the leader could break the circle, using a knife
to cut it, sprinkling the salt back down to seal
up the circle. Although my story isn't particularly scary, it's
safe to say that that was the night that I
truly realized that I believed in the supernatural. We communicated

(04:17):
with about five different spirits, learned a few names, and
felt a tickle on the back of our necks. A
few of us also had our hair pulled, and we
realized after using the board for another hour or so
that it was likely that the spirit pulling our hair
was a toddler who just wanted to play. None of
us felt scared, and even though I was initially a
little bit worried that I wouldn't be able to sleep,

(04:40):
that I'd lay awake worrying about everything that had happened
and all of the spirits in the house, it ended
up being one of the most peaceful night's sleep I've
ever had. This last story I'm going to cover was
taken from a BuzzFeed submission from a user called Jake,
who mentions how his friend has a terrifying reaction after
playing with the board. My buddy and I found a

(05:02):
weija board at my girlfriend's house. We were really bored,
so we went to this graveyard by my house to
see if it would actually work. As suspected, nothing happened.
We brought the board back to my house and didn't
think anything of it. The next day, strange things began
happening out of nowhere. My friends started having sleep paralysis

(05:22):
every time he spent the night at my house, despite
never having it before. The first time, he saw a
tall woman with long black hair standing in the corner
of the room, facing the wall. The next time, he
was asleep on the couch and he saw the same
woman standing at my open door, looking directly into my room.
