Dark Cast Network. Welcome to thedark side of podcasts. They would doctor
quite batimal dark world of ritualistic chatabase. Is there a well organized plot and
insidious design to program the minds ofour children? Parts of the occult and

(00:25):
witchcraft? Does it make you wantto hate murderer? Let's explore the darkness
of mankind from one crime at atime. Welcome back to Rogue Darkness,
the podcast that uncovers how the misinterpretationsand misinformation surrounding witchcraft, the occult,
and other beliefs have led many todo unthinkable crimes. From ritualistic killings and

(00:50):
the demons that live in all ofus, to exploration of the maccabre and
delving deep into the unknown, Let'sexplore the darkness of mankind one crime and
time. I'm your host of theGrim and Gruesome raven As you can tell
from the title, This episode ispart of a new little segment I like
to call Rogue Tales, where Iwill discuss eerie stories including mythology, lore,

(01:15):
and urban legends that all revolve aroundhorrific crimes. Today's episode will be
covering the mysterious tale of the LittlePeople's Village. Some of the information discussed
may not be suitable for all listeners. As the topics of psychosis, murder,
and suicide will be discussed, listenerdiscretion is advised, so, without

(01:40):
further ado, let's go rogue andget right. In today's eerie tale,
in the town of Middlebury, Connecticut, there is a mysterious and deserted settlement
that lies within it, referred toas the Little People's Village. There is

(02:01):
a local legend that surrounds this veryvillage, giving the tale an even more
terrifying backstory. There are many differentvariations on the legend itself, but most
would tend to agree that a husbandand his wife once lived in a small
stone house located on the site thatwould ultimately become the mysterious village. The

(02:24):
wife was said to likely be awitch, working with the spirits of the
land around her. The woman beganto hear mysterious voices coming from within the
woods that surrounded their home. Shebelieved that she and her husband coexisted with,
as she called them, tiny littledemons. Many would presume that what

(02:46):
she heard was the voices of fairiescalling to her, hypnotizing her from within
their wooded home. Upon hearing thevoices calling out to her. The woman
instructed her her husband to build atiny, little village of houses that stood
no higher than four feet tall. The wife went on to believe that she

(03:07):
was actually the queen of the littlepeople, and she then instructed her husband
to build her a proper throne inthe side of a hill alongside the tiny
houses. In some versions of thestory, the wife was instructed to kill
her husband after he dared to situpon the sacred throne. It is said

(03:27):
that upon killing her husband, thetiny creatures then decided to kill the woman
as well, but in other versions, some claim the woman even killed herself
as a means to appease the wishesof her tiny little demon companions. And
yet again another version of the story, the husband couldn't take his wife's mental
instability and bizarre requests, so hewas the one who actually ended up killing

(03:52):
her and then proceeded to take hisown life as well, regardless of what
actually happened. The throne is saidto be cursed, and anyone who sits
on it will die within seven daysor possibly even seven years. Maybe in
a short period of time. It'shard to say, really, as the
timing will likely change depending on whosetelling the story. Along with the version

(04:16):
of the husband and wife, therewas another variation where instead of a couple
living on the land, it wasactually just a man who lived alone in
seclusion. It is said that theman came across the fairies and they commanded
him to build them a tiny villagein which they could reside. The man
obliged, and the village is whatyou can now see today. After living

(04:40):
amongst the fairy folk for some time, it is said that the man eventually
went in saying Many who have visitedthe site have claimed that they feel a
dark energy surrounding the grounds, andthey feel like they are being watched from
within the woods. It is saidthat if you linger on the land long
enough, the haunting voices of thelittle people will eventually drive you mad.

(05:04):
Now, although these tales can bequite fascinating, even frightening to some,
we cannot go on without breaking downthe story a bit more and decide if
there's an actual story behind it that'srooted in reality. To ease some of
your fears, There is no truthbehind this tale. There was never a

(05:25):
husband and a wife, nor aman who lived alone who had built the
tiny village as a means to appeasetiny, little demon like creatures. In
fact, the village was actually builtfor the nearby Quassi Amusement Park, the
tiny houses being part of one ofthe attractions that visitors to the park could
view while on a trolley going aroundthe park. When the trolleys at the

(05:47):
amusement park stopped working and people nolonger voyage to view the tiny homes,
the little village eventually began to fadeand wear, giving it that eerie and
deserted look that it is known for. So, although the tale of the
Little People's Village has captured the heartsof many who have heard it, rest
assured that this fairy tale is onethat luckily is not based on a true

(06:12):
story. So that was the taleof the Little People's Village. Definitely let
