Speaker 1 (00:01):
So just real quick, get it out of the gate.
We are going to have a little bit of a
hiatus just because of not only our schedules, the holiday,
the house. It's just there's so much going on that
it's just it's it's our holiday, it's our holiday off. Yeah,
it's our it's our winter vacation, instead of it's our

(00:21):
winter vacation. We actually had more shows during the summer
than that's when we that's our that's our prime time.
But right now is not just because there's so much
going on, and also I'm sick. So much going on
outside of the podcast that we're going to take a
break and I have that, you know, I have the
cruise coming up again.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
There's ull When we come back, we'll have played plenty
of games.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Yeah, so don't like unsubscribe and forget about us. We'll
be back. It's just it'll it'll be a little bit
of a break. Hopefully during that break, you know, I
sell and move. And then because I got Dante remote
mic just so he can do this from home and
I can do it from hopefully a new home, just
because I know Dante doesn't link to drive, so I

(01:05):
want to try to help him as much as possible.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I don't like making that left tern, but it's okay,
all that left turn.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
But I mean, if I moved to like you know
where you used to work your other story used to
work out, it's kind of a drive.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
It's kind of a drive.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
So I want to have that option available, so you know,
after the break, we'll see what's going on. We'll see
if Owen's going to do his ten after the break
as well. But I want to have you back, you know,
via remote if necessary. So anyway, so sorry for the
bye week. I was very very sick. My daughter, everybody

(01:43):
in the house was sick. So it was kind of
just like this, like I don't even want to talk,
let alone talk about some game that everybody ate is
you know it's funny. So today we're talking about No
Man Sky. After we delve into that game, I do
want to talk about I have I have a list

(02:06):
of the top ten gifts for people like me this
holiday season.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Okay, people like me.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I don't think you're gonna like anything on it. It's
not all video games. But first I do want to
open up the Luke crate. The crate this is my
final one, which is good Okay, just because they're not
amazing is amazing, which what no? No, all right, so

(02:34):
this one is just zombies and death related.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
I can't say, yeah, disappointed, I am. This is your
final Luke crate.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
So I have a plush. Of course, it's leather Face
from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He's cute. I'm not gonna
let my kids play with that shirt. It's from The
Walking Dead, that's cute.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Not a fan.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Well, Walking Dead has been kind of a roller coaster
for me. So the first two seasons I thoroughly enjoyed.
I did really comic, so I did kind of have
expectations such as Rick losing his hand. Never happened, right.
I got to a point where the show started developing

(03:29):
into kind of a Young and the Restless moment at
the end of every episode, where they did these like
acoustic montages and focused heavily on relationships and not the
fact that they're in a really bad situation that shouldn't
be the only thing on people's minds while zombies are
all around you.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
You know, I haven't watched the show. Somebody heard from
people talking and that sounds very spot on what you
just said.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
I got a camp, Crystal Lake Flag. You know what's funny,
this box is probably so old that it's from Halloween.
Really probably let's see, I got a nightmare before or
a nightmare on Elm Street. Chopsticks which looks like Freddy's hand,

(04:17):
so that makes them actually training chompsticks. There's the little
book Scary Zombie Face. I do like the loupen it
is Michael Myers.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
If I had to pick, if I had.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
To pick something, I was going to actually go with
the Michael Myers clothe Oh.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
And then I get a book which actually I kind
of like the good quality hard bank The Lesion of
Regrettable Supervillains, So fifty strangest supervillains in the history of
comic books. That sounds like a podcast episode or something
to me.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
It does.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
All right, Well, thank you Luke for the past six months.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I thought you said you were like auto renewed.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yeah, and then we made sure to cancel it. It
was three months and then they auto charged and they
kind of back out.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Okay ooh, thank.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
You, thank you, thank you. I really should have got
to drink of water. So we're gonna talk about No
Man's Sky. I don't have the printer hooked up. So
let me pull up because I want to talk about
a lot of the reviews and I want to hear
your insight. Were you someone that like knew about this
Like I didn't know about this game? Remember when you

(05:37):
first strought it up? I was like, what are you
talking about?

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (05:39):
But you were following it? Yeah? How long? Like a
year and a half or feel free to get closer
to the mic? I heard love you, but they don't
love how close you get to the mic?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I've well, I mean I heard about it at E three.
I don't like to follow games that like don't have
a solid date like Forever, but wants to like to
day got you know, finalized, and I kind of started
getting more into it. But I guess, you know, we'll
get we'll get into that. But no, I wasn't a follower,

(06:14):
but I did pay attention to what was said about it, Okay.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
And obviously you're a fan. You did convince me to
you know, get it and play it and choose it
for the show. But before I get into my review,
we gotta do trivia and it's a good one.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
You know. I've been trying to be creative with the trivia,
like I've done visuals. I've had all kinds.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Of which I had to put on the Facebook. By
the way, you were supposed to follow up on that,
but this one.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
This one. So one of the big controversies about the
game is all the things that should and should not
be in the game. I created a true and false
of things the use that sound like should be in
the game and are in the game. So you have
a really good chance of actually doing well.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
So do I say true or false? Or do I
say in the game not in the game?

Speaker 2 (07:10):
No? True? False. I'm gonna I'm gonna present something to
you and you tell me if it is in the
game or not.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Okay, And all these are things that were probably supposed
to be in the.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Game, supposed to be in the game, or are in
the game.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Okay, so you yeah, oh my goodness.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah, that's yeah. I could have did more.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Okay, that's true. That's true.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Number one, if you feed animals slash creatures, they will
dig up resources sometimes rare ones.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
True, correct, Okay.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Number two, there are no loading times throughout the game.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
That's true, but I mean it's not. I mean they
are there, but they're they're smart.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Right. Number three on some planets asteroid will hit with
rare resources to mine, or they or they may cause
the atmosphere to alter.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Oh false, very false.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Supposed to be in there.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
I mean at least it never happened there, it was
supposed to be.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Yes, that sounds cool. Sounds accurate. Number four. Among any
other planets you visit, it is possible to witness a
food chain system among the creatures.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
False true. Okay, it is true.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Actually ok some of them will even try to grab
you and eat you.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Okay, that's cool. I never I haven't noticed that. The
only thing I saw was some kind of dear thing.
So while I'll get into it.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Into number five, it is possible to reach the center
of the universe. Yes. Number six, though it is rare
due to the size of the game's universe, it is
actually possible to meet another player and interact and trade
with them.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Very very false, very false.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Number seven. Through discovery of ancient artifacts, you can learn
a new language to communicate with alien life forms. Sure
and rate. One of the most exciting features of no
MASKI is the detail to the planetary physics. False very false,
sadly false. Number nine. Once you require enough upgrades and resources,

(09:29):
you will gain access to constructing buildings and bases on
your planets.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
False.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
And ten if you've I'm sorry. If you visited each
planet in all all the games, in all of this game,
for one second each, it would take five billion years
to see them all. False? What does it take five
and eighty five billion years? Five billion? Sorry?

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Any of the number five billion?

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Good?

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Trick out of ten.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Or as the other ones are. The creator said, by
the time the sun would die, you would visit.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
All the planets. Right, So I got eight out of
ten you did. That's good. I really enjoyed that trivia actually,
because it not only speaks to the game and my
knowledge of the promises made, but also the promises that
were not kept. Yes, which is probably a huge focus
of this, but I do want to give an honest
review of the game course before I get into all

(10:29):
the things that they did not do.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Well.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Actually, you know what, real quick, the thing that I
watched the most from E three, right, they showed I
don't know if I'm pretty sure was E three or
some interview they showed the warring factions. Yeah, and then
that you were like the d was in the ship
and he went down and he chose sides and he
started battling this giant starship and that's not a.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Thing, not at all.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
And I'm just like, that's that, you know, that makes
it a game more than it is now, right, That's
that was my biggest miss. What's your biggest mess or
the ones you mentioned?

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Actually, my biggest miss is not is knowing that you
can't ever see the multiplayer, you know, even though it's
cool knowing that you can go to like my planet
and see stuff I've done, the fact that I'll never
see you no matter what.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Because I mean that was I mean, it's it's supposed
to feel.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Like a world within a world, and it's not if
there's nobody else to talk to. But these people with
helmets on in these basis that you know, like why
are they even here anyway?

Speaker 1 (11:43):
But so I'm just gonna start, uh and be very honest.
I I do like the game, Wow, I do like it.
It's not because I don't know. It's not a game
for everybody.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
No, not at all.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
And you know, we got all these reviews, and we
got all these like I'll look up the Metacritic, but
people are just you know, getting refunds and there's this
constant bereatement of how bad it is, what it isn't
doing right, and what it's missing and what YadA YadA.
But it's a very calming kind of experience. It's beautiful looking.

(12:28):
I actually enjoy the entire layout. I I don't I
wish that there was a purpose because even going to
the center of the universe, it's not really a thing.
I mean, it's you can do it when you figure
out whatever, but it's still not It doesn't really.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
That was of the most disappointing thing is that I've
realized how easy it was really to do it. I
always thought that was gonna be something like who's.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Going to be the first person or you know, you
gotta like get the most upgraded ship ever, but that
doesn't do anything. And another big miss for me was
they said, if like you found a ship like on
a planet, and you were the first one to ever
find it, you could name it, and then every other
player who ever found that ship in the history of
this game would have that name, like Dante Kong, it

(13:15):
would be the Dante Kong Ship. And then somebody in
Taiwan playing the game finds a ship and it's called
the Dante Kong.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
That would have been cool.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
He said that in an interview Sean Murphy. So anyway,
but it's very pretty looking. I know a lot of
people are upset with the Poppins, which I don't really
actually mind them because I've played games like Minecraft where
the Poppins are just like, you know, really in your face.

(13:44):
Poppin's so like you're going into the atmosphere and then
you see like a blurry mountain and it becomes a
pretty mountain.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Right.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
But I mean there's no load screen, so why don't
you give it a break?

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Yeah? Actually didn't notice, didn't notice anybody who was upset
with that, But I.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Guess use a lot of people upset with it.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
I mean, is it the same Is it the same
way on PC? Because I would kind of imagine it is.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
I mean, you're talking about eighteen quintillion planets. I mean,
granted they're not they're not very unique to one another,
but how can they be? Yeah, well, you got eight
people making a game. You expect eighteen quintillion planets to
be individually designed by hand. This is an algorithm that

(14:38):
like it's it's all algorithm.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Yes, I mean that's probably as good as they can get.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Like, I think it looks great for the size, but
the multiplayers are really really really big. Miss. I mean,
not only was it promised, but I mean that would
make it so much better. Even if I can't communicate
with them, you know, even if it's Journey style, I'm
five with that, right, you know, just give like a

(15:02):
little like a little or like a little shoot at
the shoot at the sky, right, just to say what's up.
I don't even care about the trade thing. Just let
there be people like me, yeah out.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
There, yeah, like yeah, if I can't talk to you
or interact with you, it's fine. I just want to
see you, like when walking on my planet.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Exactly exactly. It doesn't have to be this whole trade mechanism.
I don't know what's going on, because twenty sixteen has
already been a weird year, right, we got a new president,
we got a new president. But Pokemon Go was a
you know, disappointing because it was like it showed that
video with everybody like trading and me and you can

(15:42):
battle each other and we're in the same room, and yeah,
all these things and that didn't ever happen, right, right,
And the same thing's happening with this where they made
all these promises and it's not happening, and it kind
of feels like gaming is going to politics, where it's
just like, you make all these promises and you're not
going to keep them. You have no you have no
tension of doing this well put and then all we

(16:03):
get out of it is this oatmeal game No Man's Sky.
But I enjoy oatmeal from now to now and then,
uh so, what what's your thoughts? I know you like
the game, r Yeah, you still do. I still do,
even though like every time you go to a space
station this the person you want to talk to is
sitting in the same chair. Yeah, that he's always been in.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
I think for me, I played the game really slowly,
so like when I was on my first planet, I
didn't leave until I did everything I thought I possibly could.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
You can't be a completionist on this game.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
I think that's the only way to really I think
it's the only way to truly enjoy it, though, because.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
If you stay going to mind every resource.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Well, I mean like I tried to find every animal.
I tried to scan like as many different plants as
I could, just because I wanted to be like, hey,
if you come. My my thought process was, if you
come to my planet, you're not going to find anything.
I found everything, and you're gonna know that I found it.
You know. It's sad to find out later that you

(17:06):
you know, it's not like I had ever meet your
and brag about you brag about it. So but.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
I played the game like I spent like four.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Days on my first planet before I even took off
to the next one. And my first one was like
an ice world and there was violent animals and stuff
and whatever. Then I go to the second one and
it's like full of acid and stuff. So for me, like,
I've only been to four planets.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Have you been to I've only been to two. Yeah,
but I mean you obviously had the game a lot
longer than me. I did it strictly for the show.
But have you ever been to a Paradise class planet?
I have?

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Actually, you have it. I thought it was like it
blew my mind when I got to it, because I'm like.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
This is a totally different game. It really was like it.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Was lush, like there was floating islands all over the
place and actually funny thing like I landed my ship
and I was like I was so excited to go
look at everything. Like I just jump off my jetpack,
not realizing how high up I really was. I had
no island. Yeah, I had no way to get back
up to my ship, but there was a lot.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
How did you do it?

Speaker 2 (18:10):
It was a huge ocean.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
How did you get back?

Speaker 2 (18:13):
I had to swim literally for an hour to another
island where I could then like, you should have shared that.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
You should have shared that, and then we could do
the the commentary on it.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
It was. It was pretty devastating for me, but I
really enjoyed that whole experience of like just finding the
large body body of water, like as I was swimming,
like I ran into sharks and stuff trying to eat me.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
And see, I've never been to a planet with any
anybody of water, let alone something in it.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Oh yeah, Like it was crazy like there was an
underwater city. I think I saw like ten or twelve
different creatures just in the water alone.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
See, and that's fine. So have you like the Okay,
So I did the starter planet right, I got my
ship fixed, I left, I flew around a little landed
and another planet and you know, there's there's it looks
like there's stories there, yeah, right, right, but they don't

(19:16):
give us any information. So I could walk into what
looks like a dilapidated home and there's just like you know,
paranormal growth everywhere, like some kind of horrible virus destroyed
this complete, this whole planet, right, but there is no story, right,
And I know that's the whole point, Like, you know,

(19:37):
it's make your own adventure, but give me some context,
just so I know what kind of universe I'm in,
you know what I.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Mean, Well, that's kind of what drove me.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
And then you're hoping that when you get to the
center of the universe it'll be a giant story.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Yeah, no, it's not. But I was really adamant about
like learning the language because it really bothered me that
I was seeing these people that I couldn't under stand
what they were saying. I found, like, I think over
two hundred words. I learned over two hundred words because
I wanted to at least I thought like, maybe there's
a story that there's in the game that I'm missing,

(20:11):
Just I did I learned the language. There's really not
that much of it. There's it's pretty much like I mean,
I don't know how many words you've found or what
you've come to understand. But the premise that I get
is that some something super intelligent created everything and subdued

(20:34):
it and provided the best way, which I think is
alluding to the atless. I don't have enough words to
really understand it, but it's such a grind to try
to understand whatever story it is.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Well, this game, this game is a grinder period. Yeah,
be it, you know, just grabbing stuff and getting everything
you need just so you cannot have enough pockets. Right, Well,
I focused pretty My upgrade are mainly backpack upgrades. But
I mean it's just like, and it's funny because you know,
we did Minecraft, right, and then we're doing this and

(21:10):
everybody's like, oh, it's Minecraft in space and it's not
at all Nope, mainly because you can't build anything. But
I mean also it's it's a totally different experience. They
both I would consider them both survival games.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
I would. But you know, in Minecraft, it's surviving whatever
and exploding blockhead zombie thing or reaper or whatever. In this,
I mean it's surviving like to find the right amount
of elements if you're in a cold planet, you have
to make sure that your suit has enough power. Your

(21:49):
gun surviving by making sure it has the appropriate upgrades
to get you out of bad situations surviving in space.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Which is a really poor mechanic of the game.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
My thought have I mean, have you have you ever
shot into a mountain and then went into a cave?

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Oh yeah, yeah, a lot of times I've liked just
it's amazing. Yeah yeah, but the way like I had
to go about getting a good enough gun to do so,
it just was not enjoyable because you're grinding. Yeah, which,
like you said to me, I don't mind grinding, but
it's like like one of the things I didn't like
when like when you go find another weapon and you're like, hmm,

(22:28):
I think I like this one. I think I do
want this one. Like if you just buy it out right,
and you'll lose whatever upgrades you had unless you like no,
because the game doesn't tell you anything, like if you
don't know to transfer your upgrades, you spent money and
lost everything, which happened to me. Oh so like now
I gotta grind again.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
No, there's no tips, there's no tutorial, there's no hints,
there's no nothing, which I get because it's survival. But yeah,
but not like this.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Yeah, I don't know. I mean overall, I if I
had to rate the game, I know we're gonna look
at Metacritic. Yeah, I would give it a seven out
of ten for that kind of person who enjoys those games. Okay,
like you said, it's not for everyone at all, I.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Would share the score seven out of ten. Yeah, just
because it could be better. You know, I'm taking out
the fact the things they promised in my score. I'm
looking at it as a standalone game with no preconceived

(23:35):
this is what I'm getting.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Do you think it should have been cheaper? It's been
a full price game.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
It's too big, it's too big. Like I know, everybody's like, oh,
it's not a Triple A title, even though Sony put
all that marketing into it and put him on Jimmy Kimmel.
But you know in Hello Games, isn't you know that
I wouldn't consider them a Triple A studio.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
No, I'm done lost that Joe Danger.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
You know, I mean they pretty made they made Excite
Bike like a new Excite Bike, and then they make this,
so I mean their game should this game. I'm gonna
go forty.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Yeah, I'm going to go forty on that. So let's
see metacritic.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Meta critic has just bombed it since well, let me
do every review score and then we'll do metacritical.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Last US Gamer gave it three and a half out
of five stars. Time Magazine gave it four and a
half out of five stars. It just shows how phony
Time magazine at that point. PC Magazine gave it four
out of five stars. Metro gave it six out of ten,
which is an honest professional review. I would think The

(24:55):
Guardian gave it a four out of five stars because
they never played it, because it's so it's ridiculous, like
if I see if I see somebody on here like
Time Magazine, I mean, they don't know what they're talking about.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
They probably played it for thirty video gamer.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Dot Com six out of ten, Polygon six out of ten,
PC Gamer sixty four out of one hundred, so we'll
say six out of ten, IGN six out of ten,
UH game Spot seven out of ten, Destructoids seven out
of ten, EGM what is EGM Electronica? Yeah, EGM seven
out of ten. Game Informer seven point five, So the

(25:36):
highest score Besides, Time Magazine is seven point five out
of ten, which is higher than we gave it. Yeah,
but the Metacritics score PS four because that's what we're rating.
We gave a seven out of ten, seven point one
out of ten. I'm Metacritic for PS.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Four, I'm actually oppressed.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
So we're right on point. We're right on point. And
it's one of the it's one of those games that
has those two really two reviews right in an eight, right,
you know what I mean. So there's people that are
just like, this is awful, and these people are like,
how dare you?

Speaker 2 (26:12):
This is great?

Speaker 1 (26:13):
And it just it gives you that And obviously there
were more people that said great than awful because we
got it to a seventy.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
One sold really really well. I think it's sold.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Close to a million or over probably, But I mean,
it's how many disappointments?

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Right, Well, I don't know that. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
If it sold a million and there were six four
hundred thousand disappointments, I don't know if that's a good thing.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well let me ask you, do you
feel like no? Do you feel like no mansk guy
lied to get the sales or that they just because
here's the thing I want. So, like you said, like
the games too, is like really big If you have
a game based on an algorithm, did you really do

(26:59):
a lot work or is it just a lot of
work because it's only eight of you?

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Now, the whole point of algorithms are or is that
they do the work for you.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Right.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
They actually send him probes to go to random worlds
just so they could quality check that the algorithms did
their job. So in reality, I feel like they had
plenty of downtime. Yes, yes, just because you know, not
only were they constantly doing interviews, but playing on Jimmy

(27:32):
Cammell and just doing all these things with IGN trying
to get.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
There's been more work promoting it.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Yeah, and I think there's spend more money promoting it.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Yeah. I mean for me, I guess because I didn't
religiously follow them, I don't feel lied to.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
I don't either, But see it's funny doing research for
the podcast, I suddenly.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
Feel so offended.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Right, No, even though it wasn't me that lived through
this monstrosity, I still am like, oh my, I can't
believe they did that to us.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Well, even then, like the day before launch, like they
put out dare they put up this huge list of
like what they were gonna do in the next patch,
like being able to and they have had patches they have,
but I guess there is one that they're really planning
to be major, where like you can build bases and
joint factions now and like have like the space Wars

(28:27):
that you're supposed to have some of the things that
they promised a long time ago. That's supposed to be
the next update.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
I know, and everybody's waiting. I'm afraid people like us
are winning. These people have already. This is this is
the most traded in game in game stub history.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Uh yeah, I mean, like I'm kind of worried like
that because of the I.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Don't know what people were expecting, like massive effect or
were they expecting like a shooter where you expect and
straight up Minecraft or re expecting I don't know what
people expect because I wasn't on that train.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Right, Like how much of it is we expected too much?
Or they actually lied?

Speaker 1 (29:11):
It's not I don't feel like they lied.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Well I did see that. I did see the interview
when I like bluntly asked them, is their multiplayer, and
he kind of hesitating and he said, yeah, there's multiplayer, right,
I watched he did not say what it was.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
He didn't. He also didn't say when that was going
to become an option, right.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Like you said, like yeah, like I'm saying there's multiplayer
because it's in the worst or whatever, like.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Right, try to say, so this is what I'm thinking
that So this is the way that I have to
interpret this game. So if I look at the first
version of Minecraft, right, which was just a five dollars
digital download game, you could go around and you could
cut into things and you could build with them and

(29:59):
build pretty much just blocky things, right, And people could
expand on that and make blocky amazing things. But still
it's just that, right, and over you know, over all
these the past few years, how that game has progressed,
even with Minecraft story mode, because there is no story

(30:20):
mode in the real original game.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Just like this.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
I can see really really impressive patches coming out in
the next year and a half. But I'm worried that
they will lose so many people that by the time
that you can interact with fellow players, it'll just it'll
be like work. It'll be like Warhawk right where it's

(30:46):
a great game and you're like, hey, it's it's really
really great. Now nobody's playing, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
It almost seems like with the amount of money that
they did make that they weren't expecting to make the
amount of money they had to give back because the
refunds and the amount of people that have traded in
and probably don't have it, and how long it's taken
because this game came out what four or five months ago,
I don't trust that they're gonna continually support the game, right,

(31:17):
Like I've kind of I haven't played in a couple
of months, just because I said to myself, Well, when
the next update comes out, I'll give really back into it.
That's what I'm gonna do, Yeah, which I think I will.
But will they do anything after that? Like, are they
really gonna give us everything on their list that they
say that we're going to.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
I feel like, as kind of an indie company, if
they ever want to make a game again, right, they
have to, right, because it's one thing about independent things
like EA they can point fingers right because they have
all these different subsidies and all this other things. So
it's like, oh, you don't like that, Like you know,
with like Inspect three, right, it's like, oh, you don't

(31:51):
like the ending, Okay, I'm sorry, We're gonna have to
point you in the direction of a BioWare and it's like,
like you just point people away, right, Oh the writer
on that. But this is just eight people that literally
wouldn't be able to get a job doing anything if
they're causing this much chaos by not promising what they

(32:13):
you know, by not.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Delivering what it would you trust their next game.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
I would hope their next game is another patch and
it's a constant patch. I don't want to see No
Man Sky story Mode come out in two years.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
You're right, people.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
Would be like, what get out of here? So yeah,
But as a as a full review, I give to seven.
Dante gives it a seven and Metacritics seven.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
So we're looking forward to whatever they add to it.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
So I'm gonna wait in the wings. But I mean,
there's a lot of games out I don't know they
even like hint to like, oh, the PS four Pro
and VR would be a great addition to the game.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Like no, don't don't jump into any of that stuff,
like just give us of what we let's.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Not worry about peripherals. Let's get the core game good.
So because right now it's kind of I mean, it's boring,
but I like it.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Yeah, it's yeah, you know, it's kind of like a
calming Yeah, it's very calming. I enjoy it. You feel
like you accomplished something by finding.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Something sometimes sometimes but we'll see, we'll see. So before
we before we end the show, I wanted to go
over my list of some of the great the great
gifts this year, just because tomorrow is Black Friday. So

(33:46):
you know, I think it's importantly what i'd like you
to do, Dante. So I'm going to give ten gifts
under fifty dollars.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Okay, I'm not buying you anything.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
No no, no, no, no no no, okay, I want you
to give me ten like well, I guess you could
say Black Friday deals, games, games, gotcha games that you
think people will be getting this year. Oh so I'll
do my well, I'll do ten, you do your ten,
and then we'll go back and forth. That's gonna be tough, really. Yeah,

(34:17):
there's a lot of games.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
I'm not getting anything.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
I know, but I mean, you know, what's what's on sale,
right yeah, okay, okay. So my number ten, which is
available on think geek dot com, which is not a sponsor,
so please don't think that I'm being paid to say
this would be the Infectious Disease Balls for four ninety nine.
So it's a little green ball and when you squeeze it,

(34:42):
it puts all these little balls out like it looks
like a diseaseis something.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
I would give from one of those Put in a
quarter and get it.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
No, No, it's a big it's big. It's it's the
size yere. It just sounds like a big version size
of a baseball. Yeah, it's awesome, all right, five dollars.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
I'm supposed to do games.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Yeah, okay, because it's a video game podcast, I'm not
doing games.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Number ten I'm gonna say Dragon Ball Xeno Verse two.
It's gonna be twenty five dollars. I'm in love with
that game right now. But we'll talk about that in.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
The future, yeah, after our hiatus.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
Number nine the also available one think Geek. That's just
my that's my go to side for well, my wife's
go to side for me. So really this this is
really just a list for my family at this point.
Number nine, the eight bit Dynamic Life pin set. So

(35:41):
it's a little pin. Okay, I put one here, you
put one on your shirt. It comes with two what
was the price?

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Nine?

Speaker 1 (35:50):
And throughout the day your hearts will get lower? Okay,
your life will get lower unless you and I hug
and then they both fill up.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
I actually like that. That sounds very cute, right, not.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
For me and you, but no, no, no, no, in general,
in general, it's cute.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
All right, what's your number nine?

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Number nine? I'm gonna say. The Bioshot collection, okay, is
going to be thirty dollars. It's ten dollars per game,
basically with all the DC which I did not play Huge, Yeah,
I did not play Infinite. I understand the doc for
that was very, very elaborated. I brought it all together.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
It brings well, I mean, Infinite brings it all together.
But there's a lot of holes. So the DLC fills
those holes.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
So I will be that's actually the only game that
will be buying.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
I will be getting, even though you probably won't mention it,
none of your Solid five Ultimate Edition for fifteen dollars
on anyway. Number eight also in think Geek, I won't
say it anymore. The hover cramped levitating construction set for
thirty dollars. So it's a magnet, right, and then there's

(37:06):
a pad that's an opposing magnet, so it levitates in
the air. And you gotta put these little blue blocks
and you gotta stack them as sigh as you can.
It's good for concentration.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Okay, I think, I think, I think I can visualize
what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
Yeah, I mean a picture of I don't know, don't
break the ice, but it's hovering.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
Okay, okay, okay, kind of there works. Okay. Number eight,
I'm going to say, Tone Raider recently just came off
of PS four.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Is it the anniversary edition?

Speaker 2 (37:41):
It is? The Anniversary Edition is going to have all
the DC well, and they just recently put out new
DLC with co op and more multiplayer functions. I believe
that game is going to be thirty five dollars. Don't
get mad at me if you can't find it for
that price somewhere, but people, including myself, I've been waiting

(38:01):
for it, and from what I've seen, it looks so
much more amazing on the PS four Pro, which actually
makes me jealous and I kind of wont one day,
I should not have watched the video.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Well to me in the PS four Pro. It's not
a four K Blu ray player, only a four K streamer,
So it's not on my Christmas list this year.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
Number seven. This is not available on Think Geek. Mm hmm.
It's the Great Comics Adventure by West Areas Games. It's
available on the game Crafter for twenty nine ninety nine.
Very good designer behind that game.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
There's nothing cryptic about what you just I don't like it.
There's something going on with the way you said that
it's my game it is. I was thinking about it, like,
wait minute, something I made it, and then the way
you said it's like yeah, wait minute, I mean that
can't be a gift to you.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
Yeah, camp, because I get any profit.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Oh okay.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
It's like I think you.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Could have just listened to your ten kickstarters.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
And that was I've had fifteen. Don't take go on.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Okay, number seven. I'm going to say the Nintendo D
the New DS three DS is going to be a
hundred bucks, which is a steal. I know so many
people right now are like trying to plot ways to
get one so that they can't like, customers won't get it.

(39:31):
But it's like an amazing deal because the three steel
sales for two hundred bucks, so to get that now
for a hundred bucks, it is a great deal. It
comes in white or black with like Little Mario interchangeable
face plates and stuff.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
It looks good. Yeah. Number six is the Harry Potter
Wizard Chest set forty eight ninety nine. It's actually the
Wizard's chest the game. So it's very cool. You gotta
check it out on Think Geek. And now what's your six?

Speaker 2 (40:04):
I'm trying to think number six. I'm just gonna go
ahead and say it now. Pokemon Sun and Moon. Okay,
big deal. I don't even think you need to elaborate.
You should be getting one of the two or both. Okay,
I'll get one. Why not get Sun? I'm getting Moon.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
Number five Legend of Zelda Triforce Light for thirty five
ninety nine. It's literally just the triforce symbol and the
whole thing glows and it shines the Triforce symbol on
your wall. It's very cool.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
Oh, I just thought my number five. Ye something we
just got in the best way. You probably saw it.
The Kylo ren lightsaber one hundred and fifty bucks. Kind
of pricey, but it's pretty authentic to me. Maybe you've
come across better ones.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
I have, but they don't have lights.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Right, lights up, sounds everything. I don't even know how
to describe it sound. I believe it is. I think
it's gonna one hundred dollars. There's no matter of fifty.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
That's still quite a bit. If you're a star wars man,
I guess, well, I obviously am.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
I think you'll have one. You'll probably have one.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
I don't think it'll be Kylo Wrenz. I think it'll
be a character with a little bit more hutzpah.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Wow. Accurate though?

Speaker 1 (41:20):
What oh use of the word number four for only
nineteen ninety nine? Okay, they're Pokemon serving bowls and they're
poke balls. So it's literally two bowls and it's a
Pokemon and it opens and then it's two bowls. Then
there's another one inside, and it showed serving popcorn and

(41:40):
it's sweet because you're just like popcorn.

Speaker 2 (41:43):
Does it like like a little like do you push
the ball to open? No?

Speaker 1 (41:47):
Come on, no, I I'm not a creator. I'm just
a just talking about things.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
I liked number four. This is gonna sound funny, but
the Nintendo series boo ambo. I love that it lights
up in the dark, in the dark. It's the only
ameble that like does something for twelve bucks. I think

(42:18):
it's cool, especially if like you get a ton of them,
then you just like put them off everywhere and they
all like it's very expensive.

Speaker 1 (42:25):
It's actually cheaper if you got that triforce like number three,
just because going off of my popcorn and R two
D two popcorn maker, it's literally R two D two
except his head's kind of open.

Speaker 2 (42:38):
I hate him. You hate R two D I hate
Rtie Dude, Yes, I hate him.

Speaker 1 (42:43):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
I hate the noise that he makes. And he's just
always getting away with stuff, and he's bad.

Speaker 1 (42:50):
He's a trickster. He's a trickster. Once you're number three, Uh, I.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
Had it on the top of my head. I forgot
that quick. Well. Obviously, Call of Duty is always going
to be a gift that everybody needs to have and wants. Well,
I mean, but this one's a little interesting though, because
it does come with the modern warfare, which is like
everybody's beloved.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
Yeah, it's I used to.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Pay for the I think it's the legacy additions, so
the what they're going about doing it.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
If any call of duty gets me back, it's this
one because it's you know, I like sci fi.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:27):
My number two is uh, this is uh for my
wife to hear. It's a Vault Tech one one one backpack,
so Vault one to eleven. Uh, it's forty eight ninety nine.
If you can find on think geek, thank you.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
Okay, all right, well number two is going to be pricey.
Oh okay, but if you really wanted to impress somebody,
I think this would do it. A Sony VR, yeah
only but us, I'll never be buying one.

Speaker 1 (44:01):
No, we got we got new, we got new people.
Saint Christopher gave us ten dollars towards the v R.

Speaker 2 (44:07):
Yeah, yeah, it's so it would make a wonderful gift. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (44:10):
If we can get that Patreon up during our hiatus,
come back with a VR. Oh boy, you drive it,
you drive a field dirtle. Then one.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
Yeah, I'll get anything you want.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
All right, awesome, Now we just gotta get our Patreon.
I'm gonna work really hard on the Patreon. Uh during
the hiatus. I also want to get you know, the
YouTube videos where we wanted them to be by now
you know, I had them uploaded, but I have to
re download them at our logo and audio. But hopefully

(44:47):
you and I can at least do that audio stuff
over Skype or something, just so I can make those videos.
Everything's coming soon, Okay. How long is Hyta is going
to be?

Speaker 2 (45:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (45:02):
Okay, let's say TBA. Oh my gosh, you don't like
when games do that, but you're gonna do that.

Speaker 2 (45:11):
Yeah, all right, tba, TBA.

Speaker 1 (45:16):
Dante's got his stuff. I got my stuff going on,
all right, So my number one, unfortunately it's not under
fifty dollars, but it is the nes classic that no
one can get. Did you get one?

Speaker 2 (45:31):
I didn't get one?

Speaker 1 (45:32):
Okay, you what, I'm not interested?

Speaker 2 (45:35):
Really No, I have all those games on Virgil console.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
Oh so in a way, it's kind of a middle
finger to you. I know you spent over sixty dollars
for the Yeah, yeah, definitely.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
Actually, well yeah, I can't get around it. Technically paid
a dollar, but I paid for a price them on
the Wii, right, so yeah, if you think and to
make it worse, like they played better on the NS
Classic than they.

Speaker 1 (46:04):
Doing we in a while. Thanks to know. What's your
number one game to pick up tomorrow? Which is Black
Friday even though most stores are open today.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
Yeah, unfortunately, maybe you forget it that fast.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
Oh, Ryan, I was gonna say my number one is
you justtrit to do with? The is?

Speaker 1 (46:32):
No man Sky is thirty dollars? No Man Sky thirty
The Mario Mario World something. Oh my goodness, a party world?
Is that what it's called?

Speaker 2 (46:47):
No? Oh, you really heard you really heard me. I'm
picturing it and then everything. I just cannot get it out.

Speaker 1 (46:56):
What does it look like? Share the picture book?

Speaker 2 (46:59):
What's the game?

Speaker 1 (47:00):
It's a game for the we U, No for the
DS I think, okay, but it's not Pokemon No okay.

Speaker 2 (47:09):
Oh I'm sorry everybody, I'm so I'm so disappointed.

Speaker 1 (47:12):
You can't this before the hyatus with you. It's you
freaking out.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
You're actually probably like not gonna like what I was
gonna say.

Speaker 1 (47:19):
That's okay, I never liked.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
Well, just know that it's on sale. It's awesome. I
think it was gonna be twenty five dollars.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
Okay, Well, I'm looking at just random deals. Mario Kurt
seven for eighteen ninety nine is out there. That's the
big one.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
Oh man, sorry, I don't know. Well, I do have
a backup that I know you weren't gonna like. Okay,
you can buy gift cards so that people can ready
to pre order the Switch. I'm when it gets announced
pre order? What the what the Nintendo Switch?

Speaker 1 (48:09):
Like a light switch?

Speaker 2 (48:10):
Oh? Are you trolling?

Speaker 1 (48:15):
I'm really not. I have two kids. I don't have
time to what the NX Yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
It's called the Switch. They had a trailer showing what
it was about.

Speaker 1 (48:27):
So like when people switch from Nintendo to Microsoft, or
when Nintendo switches to the commercial bankruptcy of Sega.

Speaker 2 (48:40):
That's a long time before that will ever happen.

Speaker 1 (48:43):
What is the switch? This is a good way to
go out. Make sure to follow us on Twitter at
l QD p O D. Find us on Facebook dot
com slash l QD p O D. Now let's hear
all about the Switch right before we go into our
hiatus with Dante Kong talking about the Switch.

Speaker 2 (49:01):
The Switch is Nintendo's hybrid console slash handheld that you
can take with you on the go. It is tablet
size with controllers attached to it that also can come
off and you can put them together, or you can
use a standard pro controller at home. It has instant

(49:25):
at least from the from the trailer, has instant console
to handheld switchability, so meaning I could be playing Zelda
and when I dock it, it instantly goes to the TV,
no loading or whatever. So far, they have showed Skyrim.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
They got Yes, the Definite on Nintendo Console exactly.

Speaker 2 (49:51):
It was very prominent in their trailer that Skyrim was
going to be on there, even though but that's that
came out and said we really don't have anything to
comments regarding this switch, but their game was in the trailer,
So I don't know if like Nintendo said, don't talk
