(00:00):
That's Rida. It's Friday. Timeto cash in those chips. It's five
o'clock somewhere, and before you getto the heavy stuff, we're gonna get
to everything in between. I'm gonnabe with you for three of the next
four hours, and let me explainhow that's gonna work. Here. During
the two pm hour, you're listeninglive in the Mountain time zone, and
then the three o'clock hour that's perusual. Dan's gonna be kind of doing

(00:24):
a cameo appearance on his own showfor one hour, and then I'll be
back with you for the five o'clockhour, so you'll get more than your
fill of me, and I knowKelly will, so if for no other
reason simpatico with her stand tall andshe's nodding her head right now, you
can text us she sees those twofive, seven, seven, three nine
started Ryan. Before I get intoanything, though, the portion of Donald

(00:48):
Trump's speech last night, which wasa plus and the most important part was
the beginning, and I had justenough time in this segment to play that
entire portion for you and then offermy thoughts on the other side as we
go from there. But I wantedyou to hear it again, since many
of you may have watched it,but just the audio might strike in a
different way. But this was verycrucial for Donald Trump to do last night,

(01:12):
and again the first twenty minutes werepure gold. As Americans, we're
bound together by a single faith anda shared destiny. We rise together or
we fall apart. I am runningto be president for all of America,
not half of America, because thereis no victory in winning for half of

(01:37):
America. So tonight, with faithand devotion, I proudly accept your nomination
for President of the United States.Thank you, Thank you very much,

(02:29):
Thank you very much, and wewill do it right. We're gonna do
it right. Let me begin thisevening by expressing my gratitude to the American
people for your outpouring of love andsupport following the assassination attempt at my rally

(02:49):
on Saturday. As you already know, the assassin's bullet came within a quarter
of an inch of taking my life. So many people have asked me what
happened. Tell us what happened, please, And therefore I will tell you

(03:12):
exactly what happened, and you'll neverhear it from me a second time because
it's actually too painful to tell.It was a warm, beautiful day in
the early evening in Butler Township inthe Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Music was

(03:37):
loudly playing and the campaign was doingreally well. I went to the stage
and the crowd was cheering wildly.Everybody was happy. I began speaking very
strongly, powerfully and happily because Iwas discussing the great job administration did on

(04:00):
immigration at the southern border. Wewere very proud of it. Behind me
and to the right was a largescreen that was displaying a chart of border
crossings under my leadership. The numberswere absolutely amazing. In order to see

(04:29):
the chart, I started to likethis, turned to my right and was
ready to begin a little bit furtherturn, which I'm very lucky I didn't
do. When I heard a loudwhizzing sound and felt something hit me really

(04:53):
really hard on my right ear.I said to myself, wow, what
was that. It can only bea bullet, and moved my right hand
to my ear brought it down.My hand was covered with blood, just

(05:13):
absolutely blood all over the place.I immediately knew it was very serious that
we were under attack, and inone movement proceeded to drop to the ground.
Bullets were continuing to fly as verybrave Secret Service agents rushed to the

(05:35):
stage, and they really did. They rushed to the start, these are
great people at great risk, Iwill tell you, and pounced on top
of me so that I would beprotected. There was blood pouring everywhere,

(06:00):
and yet in a certain way,I felt very safe because I had God
on my side. I felt thatThe amazing thing is that prior to the

(06:26):
shot, if I had not movedmy head at that very last instant,
the assassin's bullet would have perfectly hitits mark, and I would not be
here tonight. We would not betogether. The most incredible aspect of what
took place on that terrible evening inthe fading sun was actually seen later.

(06:53):
In almost all cases, as youprobably know, and when even a single
bullet is just a single bullet, and we had many bullets that were being
fired, crowds run for the exitsor stampede. But not in this case.
It's very unusual. This massive crowdof tens of thousands of people stood

(07:23):
by and didn't move an inch.In fact, many of them bravely but
automatically stood up looking for where thesniper would be. They knew immediately it
was a sniper and then began pointingat him. You can see that if
you look at the group behind me, that was just a small group compared
to what was in front. Nobodyran, and by not stampeding, many

(07:46):
lives were saved. But that isn'tthe reason that they didn't move. The
reason is that they knew I wasin very serious trouble. They saw it.
They saw me go down, Theysaw the blood and thought, actually

(08:07):
most did, that I was dead. They knew it was a shot to
the head. They saw the blood, and there's an interesting statistic. The
ears are the bloodiest part. Ifsomething happens with the ears, they bleed
more than any other part of thebody. For whatever reason, the doctors
told me that. They said, why is this so much blood? He

(08:28):
said, it's the ears. Theybleed more. So we learned something.
But they just they just this beautifulcrowd. They didn't want to leave me.
They knew I was in trouble. They didn't want to leave me,
and you can see that love brittenall over their faces and incredible people.

(08:52):
They're incredible people. Bullets were flyingover us, yet I felt serene,
But now the Secret Service agents wereputting themselves in peril. They were in
very dangerous territory. Bullets were flyingright over, missing them by a very
small amount of inches. And thenit all stopped. Our secret sniper from

(09:18):
a much greater distance, and withonly one bullet used, took the assassin's
life, took them out. I'mnot supposed to be here tonight, not
supposed to be here. Yeah, yeah, thank you, but I'm not.

(10:03):
And I'll tell you I stand beforeyou in this arena only by the
grace of Almighty God. In watchingthe reports over the last few days,

(10:26):
many people say it was a providentialmoment. Probably was when I rose surrounded
by Secret Service. The crowd wasconfused because they thought I was dead,
and there was great, great sorrow. I could see that on their faces
as I looked out. They didn'tknow I was looking at it. They
thought it was over, but Icould see it. I wanted to do

(10:52):
something to let them know I wasokay. I raised my right arm,
looked at the thousands and thousands ofpeople that were breathlessly waiting, and started
shouting fight, fight, fight, thank you. Once my clenched fist went

(11:20):
up and it was high into theair. You've all seen that. The
crowd realized I was okay and roaredwith pride for our country like no crowd
I have ever heard before, neverheard anything like that. For the rest

(11:46):
of my life, I will begrateful for the love shown by that giant
audience of patriots that stood bravely onthat fateful evening in Pennsylvania. Tragically,
the shooter claimed the life of oneof our fellow Americans, Cory Comparator,

(12:07):
unbelievable person. Everybody tells me,unbelievable and seriously wounded. Two other great
warriors spoke to them today, DavidDutch and James Copenhaber, two great people.

(12:31):
I also spoke to all three familiesof these tremendous people. Our love
and prayers are with them and alwayswill be. We're never going to forget
them. They came for a greatrally. They were serious Trumpsters. I
want to tell you there were seriousDrumpsters and still are. But Corey,
unfortunately we have to use the pasttense. He was incredible. He was

(12:54):
a highly respected former fire chief, respected by everybody. Was accompanied by his
wife, Helen, incredible woman.I spoke to it today devastated and two
precious daughters. He lost his lifeselflessly acting as a human shield to protect
them from flying bullets. He wentright over the top of them and was

(13:16):
hit. What a fine man hewas. And this is where President Trump

(13:46):
walks over to the displayed fireman's uniformand helmet of Corey and kisses the helmet
in tribute. I want to thankthe fire department and the family for sending

(14:11):
his helmet, his outfit. Andit was just something, and they're going
to do something very special when theyget it. But we just something which
cannot match what happened, not evengloves. But I am very proud to
say that over the past few days, we've raised six point three million dollars

(14:37):
for the families of David, Jamesand Corey, including from a friend of
mine. Just called up. Hesent me a check right here. I
just got it one million dollars fromDan Nolan. Thank you Dan. And

(15:00):
again, when speaking to the family, I told them, I said,
well, I'm going to be sendingyou a lot of money, but I
can't compensate. They all said thesame thing. You're right, sir,
we appreciate so much what you're doing, but nothing can take the place.
In the case of Corey and theother two. By the way, they
were very, very seriously injured. But now they're doing very well. They're

(15:20):
going to be okay, They're gonnabe doing very well. They're warriors.
So now I asked that we observea moment of silence in honor of our
friend Corey. There is no greaterlove than to lay down one's life for

(16:00):
others. This is the spirit thatforged America in her darkest hours, and
this is the love that will leadAmerica back to the summit of human achievement
and greatness. This is what weneed. Despite such a heinous attack,
we unite this evening more determined thanever. I am more determined than ever,

(16:22):
and so are you, So iseverybody in your same Thank you,
Thank you very much. Our resolveis unbroken and our purpose is unchanged,

(16:56):
a delivery government that serves the Americanpeople better than ever before. Nothing will
stop me in this mission because ourvision is righteous and our course it's pure.
No matter what obstacle comes our way, we will not break, we
will not bend, we will notback down, and I will never stop

(17:18):
fighting for you, your family, and our magnificent country, never and everything
I have to give with all ofthe energy and fight in my heart.
And so I pledge to our nationtonight, thank you very much. I

(17:41):
pledge that to our nation. We'regoing to turn our nation around, and
we're going to do it very quickly. Thank you. This election should be
about the issues facing our country andhow to make America successful, safe,

(18:02):
free, and great again. Inan age when our politics too often divide
us. Now is the time toremember that we are all fellow citizens.
We are one nation under God,indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

(18:30):
So that was roughly the first twentyminutes of Donald Trump's speech from last night
at the RNC to cap off itwas a wonderful week for the Republican Party,
probably the best convention I've ever seen, from start to finish. He
could have gone on from there,in my view, on another twenty minutes,
some up the policy differences, andthen walk off, but there was
just too much. This went onfor over an hour and a half.

(18:52):
He went back to his campaign rallyspeeches. Kind of the grievances, and
I would say that opening Act Aplus the rest of the speech I give
them a b overall. You know, we're about a month into summer here,
we've got the stormy skies, we'vehad triple digit temperatures. You might

(20:03):
once again online Master Router Dot Plumbing. That's Master ruter Dot Plumbing for Master
Services. Tell them Ryan sent you. I've tried Jesse Thomas back with us.
It's been a while. He wason the road right after a home
stand and then the All Star Break. Didn't want to bother him then,
but he is back up for businesstonight live from Coors Field as the Rockies

(20:25):
welcome in the San Francisco Giants tostart the second half of their season.
Jesse Thomas, welcome back to it. Thank you very much, Ryan,
I appreciate it. Yeah, wedid seventeen straight leading up to the break,
so it was good to get afew days off, and I'm nice
and refreshed and we're ready to rolltonight. Let's start there and work our
way back. These four days ofthe All Star break, Jesse, what
do they mean to you during aseason? Like you said, it's a

(20:48):
slog. You got a lot ofdays in a row without a single day
off here. What is important toyou during those four days? It is
so I tried to get away fromthe game as much as possible. I
went up to Creed, Colorado,no internet service, no phone service,
fish for two straight days, andthat's exactly what I need to recharge my
battery. So that's what I do. Others like to just hang around watch
movies and stuff like that, butI like to go to the mountains and

(21:10):
kind of do nothing. Jesse Thomas. He is the executive producer on site,
the engineer. He does everything behindthe scenes for the Rockies broadcast and
he brings those to life for uson the radio and then in these segments
kind of filling in the blanks, the dots, if you will, on
what he experiences on the road.So let's go there. This is interesting
to me, Jesse, because Iwas in Cincinnati right before you were to

(21:33):
see my Detroit Tigers sweep the Redsout of Great American Ballpark. I had
never been there. What a facility, what a setting, what a town
really, Cincinnati, let's start there. Your thoughts on the ballpark, the
matchup, and what you were ableto do in Cincinnati and northern Kentucky,
which is right next door. Itis right next door, so as you
know, it's sitting right there onthe Ohio River. It's kind of it's

(21:55):
a very hitter friendly ballpark. Itoo like it. It's a little amusement
parkey for lack of a better term, with the signage and the tug boat
they have out there in the centerfield and all that stuff. But their
fans, their fans are awesome.I've never met a mean Cincinnati Red fan.
The only thing that kind of bothersme about Cincinnati is the rain that
we get there every single time.I've never nine years of going there,

(22:17):
and I've never not seen the tarpin that town. But other than that,
I'm with you. Cincinnati is aokay. We can walk to and
from the ballpark straight from the hoteljust across the bridge right there, and
it's awesome. So I have agood time in Cincinnati. Now, let
me ask you this. Did youeat the chili or no, I was
gonna just ask you, Yes,I got the Skyline chili. I did
the chili mac or whatever. Fiveway. I think that's the way the

(22:41):
locals do it. And what areyour thoughts on it? Because there's the
one ingredient do you know what itis that sets it apart? In cinnamon?
Yeah, I'm not a fan man. The only way, the only
time, the only way I cando it. I can't do it on
the noodles in the pasta like theydo it there, But they have many
chili dogs usually. Yeah, ifI see one of those out in the
plubouts or whatever, I'll grab oneof those. That's about the only way

(23:03):
I can tolerate that stuff. Butthey're fanatical about it, and you better
not talk bad about Skyline Chili outthere. I'll I'll let you know.
Oh absolutely. And Cincinnati kind oflike you were talking about in our last
conversation, I think it was,Jesse. It's just such a quintessential baseball
town the way that Saint Louis is, and I think the fans reflect that
as well. It is there's nodoubt, you know, they haven't had
a ton of success over the lasttwo decades since the Big Red Machine,

(23:27):
really, but they're very knowledgeable andthey're very nice, and they come out
and support their team no matter what, and I certainly can respect that.
Jesse Thomas, how's this set upbroadcasting wise? There? You know,
it's nice, it's old, andthey kind of have some weird windows that
haven't been fixed since nineteen eighty sevenas near as I can tell. But
it's not bad. Press dining thereis fantastic, very sneaky. Yeah,

(23:51):
But as far as broadcast location goes, it's about middle of the pack in
the league. And I'm a fan, all right, Jesse Thomas joining us.
He was also on the road codecity field the Mets Queens. It's
not cha stadium anymore. No,you talk about God, maybe a difference
in fan base is not to sayanything bad about New Yorker's necessarily, but
Mets fans they let you know whothey are. Oh, there's no doubt

(24:12):
about it. They could be twopolar opposites, Mets fans Cincinnati fans,
you know what I mean. Thoseare like the opposite ends of the spectright.
But yeah, and as you know, it sits right there in Queens,
right by the airport. So I'mconstantly every time I'm mixing a show
there, it sounds like we're onthe tarmac at LaGuardia. But like,
man, there's nothing you can doto keep ab out of those field mics.

(24:34):
But yeah, same thing there. We had kind of dodged some rain
to and from there ever to winthat last one coming into the break.
So hopefully that's built a little bitmomentum and get some success on this Homestand
but you talk about Queens and justbeing in the Big Apple in general,
so many dining options. Always goingto talk to you about the food,
but what we're able to seek outtheir Jesse, what did you enjoy?

(24:56):
So the highlight of the trip wasdefinitely my sushi experience on the Saturday.
We had a mid afternoon. Wehad some weird start times on this trip,
so we didn't have a whole lotof time to enjoy Manhattan, but
as you know, it's a twentyfour hour city, so yeah, if
you really want to. So Iwalked to Times Square to get a slice
Nice the original Joe's the first nightin and then Saturday we got back to
the Team hotel in Midtown there kindof by Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and there's

(25:21):
a place called Sushi Anna that Ifrequent when I go to town and nice.
They stay open till midnight and theytook good care of me once again,
So highly recommend it if you findyourself in midtown Manhat. So you
don't share the opinion of Michael Scottfrom the office, and his favorite was
Sparrow and No, although it's nottoo far off, it's not it is

(25:44):
not. Jesse Thomas joining us histravels to Cincinnati and then the Big Apple,
New York and then the break andnow back home against the San Francisco
Giants, had a chance to breathe. But what this weekend upcoming also brings
us, Jesse are the Hall ofFame inductions Cooperstown. I've been able to
visit the Baseball Hall of Fame almostten years ago now, but our own

(26:04):
Todd Helton being inducted on behalf ofthe Rockies. What does that mean to
the Rockies organization? Todd Helton,He's been waiting for a while for him
to get in. Yeah, there'sno doubt about it. In the whole
building here twentieth and Blake is excitedfor him. He's so well deserving and
it's an honor for the entire franchise, in for the state of Colorado.

(26:25):
Within being honest, So and Iknow our own Anthony Rodriguez is gonna hand
head out there this weekend and fireoff some content social media stuff, and
I'm going to have him live onthe air Sunday morning during our pregame and
kind of eyes and ears on theground there and Cooperstown as obviously Jack Cherry
or myself cannot be there, buthe's going on behalf of us. And

(26:45):
we look forward to all that coveragethat he's gonna bring us, And I'm
just thinking about, you know, the time of year that you have to
work, that you've been working withthe Rockies radio network during the warm weather
months. Have you ever been toCooperstown yourself, Jesse, I have not.
It is the one hall of fame, ironically that I haven't been to.
H I had a chance a coupleyears ago a bunch of the TV

(27:06):
guys were going up there to filmsome stuff, and I think I overslept
and missed the uh missed the groupride. But it's definitely on my list
of things to check out, andhopefully I'll get there sooner than later.
Well, this is an interesting upcomingschedule because the Giants are in town here
and then it's a series against theBoston Red Sox coming to coors Field before
Colorado returns the favor and heads toSan Francisco. As the Rockies begin this

(27:29):
homestand upcoming, Jesse, just maybesome notes about we know some guys have
been injured for a while. Arethere guys that are gonna be coming back?
What really jumps off the page toyou? Yeah, so I would
pay attention here. I can't reallysay anything for sure right here in the
next sport at least I know, but I can't on your show. But
I would pay attention here in thenext forty eight hours for some roster changes.
We got Cali Quantrell on the moundtonight, and like I said,

(27:52):
they're just trying to build some momentumon this homestand they will have some new
faces coming up next week. Andhow about this ry And we have a
scheduled traditional double header coming up inSan Francisco a week from tomorrow. Don't
see too many of those anymore,No, not anymore, and especially the
two for one kinds. That's thekind of my dad used to go to
as a kid, because my Grandpa'slike, we'll get two games for the

(28:12):
price of one. Yep, they'redoing a four to thirty first pitch or
a yeah, a three thirty firstpitch out there, four thirty here with
a country concert in between games oneand two at Oracle Park there. So
that'll be fun, all right. We'll talk to you on the other side
of that. In addition, theMLB trade deadline coming up here at the

(28:33):
end of the month, and we'llsee if the Rockies, Oh no doubt
we'll be sellers at that point. But what they might get back in return,
we'll have that to talk about withJesse next time around, next spin
of the wheel. Jesse, thankyou so much for your time and glad
you got that time off. Ryan, thank you so much, and I
look forward to our next visit.Thank you. All right, that's Jesse
Thomas. He of course, isthe executive producer the on site engineer for
the Colorado Rockies. They're in actiontonight against the San Francisco Giants six forty

(28:59):
pm, first pitch, which asthe first of a three game series before
the Boston Red Sox come to townon Monday. Little Sports Respite Palette cleanser
will take this break when we comeback. Our nominees for our Friday Fool
of the Week. This is thetoughest one we've ever had, so many
more on so little time. Icouldn't even narrow it down to three.
We've got five candidates coming for youon the other side of this time out

(29:21):
back with that after this on sixpoint thirty k Holt, all right,
let's get right to it. Wehave five nominees for our Friday Fool of
the Week and you're why five andit's not three. I couldn't narrow it
down. You're going to figure outwhy. Let's get right to it,
Woopy Goldberg, this was just fromtoday, I believe, or at least

(29:44):
the last two days. Alexa sentthis one. This is from the view
for me. I have a lotof faith in the American people, and
I don't know very many men whowant to be talked to the way that
this man has been talking to menin his audience. I don't know any
women, and I know his grandchildwas up on the thing, and they're
trying to humanize them and change youridea about who this guy is. Don't

(30:07):
fall for that. Yeah, incredibletime. All right, that's some gas
lighting. They need you to maintainyour image of him as Orange Hitler.
He can't be human. We've gotto maintain this image that led to the
assassination attempt. Whatopy Goldberg, congratulationsand dismissing and discounting his seventeen year old
granddaughter. Very nice. Well.Rachel Maddow thinks that Tolkien and Lord of

(30:32):
the Rings is a far right indicatorlike mister Teal, who has named his
companies after things in the Lord ofthe Rings series of J. R.
R. Tolkien books. Lord ofthe Rings is a sort of favorite cosmos
for naming things and cultural references fora lot of far right and alt right
figures, both in Europe and theUnited States. Peter Teal names all these

(30:53):
things after Tolkien figures and places, like his company Pallanteer for example, like
his mentor, like Peter Teel, who had given him all his jobs in
the world, Mister Vance. Also, when he founded his own venture capital
firm with help from Peter Teel, named it after a Lord of the Rings
thing. He called it Naria narYa, which you can remember because it's

(31:15):
Aryan, but you move the endto the front. Apparently that word has
something to do with elves and ringsfrom the Lord of the Rings series.
I don't know. I got seriouspeople watch her. I find that hard
to believe. And that news,as I mentioned yesterday, a surprise to
Robert Plant, whose inspiration for manyled Zeppelin songs was Tolkien and Lord of
the Rings. Also Connor O'Brien nota conservative, big fan of Lord of

(31:37):
the Rings. Here's Joy Reid andshe's trying to equate an assassination account against
Trump to Biden getting COVID. Here'sthe question that I have on that these
two men are both elderly. DonaldTrump is an elderly man who, for
whatever reason, was given nine secondsto take a iconic photo op during an
active shooter. Of the situation, where did situation? We'll figure that out

(32:00):
one day. But his survival ofthat and bouncing right back and going right
to his convention is being conveyed inthe media world as a sin of string.
This current president of the United Statesis eighty one years old and has
COVID. Should he be fine ina couple of days? Doesn't that convey

(32:21):
exactly the same thing that he's strongenough older than Trump to have gotten something
that used to really be fatal topeople his age. So if he does
fine out of it and comes backand is able to do rallies, isn't
that exactly the same? I mean, it's not exactly the same, It's
not same incident, but it's anelderly man coming through out of an illness.

(32:42):
Yeah, what a needle to thread. Surviving COVID at eighty one is
the same as getting nicked in theear by an assassin's rifle bullet. Joy
read Wow, We're not done.Alex Wagner here also MSNBC. That's three
in a row, suggesting here thatjd Vance, during his acceptance speech for
a vice president the nomination on theTrump ticket, Dan's discussing the burial plot

(33:07):
in eastern Kentucky for generations of hisfamily. Well, that's misogyny and white
supremacy. But in America doesn't alwayshave to be the white male lineage that
Trump's that defines the family history, that that branch of the tree supersedes all
else. And I just think theconstruction of this notion reveals a lot about

(33:27):
someone who fundamentally believes in the supremacyof whiteness and masculinity. And it's couching
a sort of haucion revisitation of hisroots, but it is actually really revealing
about what he thinks matters and whoAmerica is, and that America is a
place for people where he shared Westernbackground, and that is the idea of

(33:49):
America, that is the nation ofAmerica that he wants to resurrect. I
love these people that dictate and lectureto me, a white man who was
born and raised in this country, what whiteness, what is why? I
don't even use that term. Idon't refer to myself as white. I
don't think of myself i'm white.I don't know anybody that does do that.
But here's Michael Steele. Oh,he's into the conspiracy theories. He's

(34:12):
into him thick. He is wonderingif maybe it was just a portion of
the teleprompter that struck Donald Trump andnot a bullet. Where I'm at this
point is it's been three days goingon four since this horrific event occurred and
the person lost their life, tohave been severely injured, and yet we've
not received a medical report from thehospital, nor have we received a medical
