Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
Some days I just have enough content for about four,
maybe even five hours, And today it's one of those days.
We've got guests Scalore, including one with me right now
live in the control room, because we're running this thing
like a basement.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Podcast these days. It's me.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's Valdemar Archi Letta, my good friend. He's the president
of the log Cabin Republicans. He's also the Republican candidate
and the first congressional district against the dinosaur zy caller
Dinosaur Diana.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Okay, so you like.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
That one, Diana.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
I think that's a good that's a good alternative. Well,
I didn't say, but others.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Have told me when you say that, dinoh, Valdemar, is
that like democratic name only?
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Is that? What they're saying is that I don't care
on that side.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
If you're a Dinah, as long as you do what
they tell you, you're fine. Oh wow, Yeah, Well we're
the only ones who care about crap like that.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Take us through.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
There's so much I got to get caught up with
you on, including of course the DNC from last night,
but your recent travels over the weekend. Uh, you had
I don't want to call it confrontation, but maybe kind
of a standoff of sorts.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
It was confrontation. Wow, okay, yeah, So this year the
log Cabin Republicans, we haven't gone to any pride festivals
and there.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
I won't get into the whole story as to why,
but we haven't.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
But I do want to give a quick shout out
to the Pueblo County GOP. There is a reason why
Pueblo is going red and it's because they are involved
in their community. So Peblo County got a booth at
Pueblo Pride and there and it's not just Pride there
at all the festivals down there. And when I was
there with the Michelle Gray, who's their chair, like she
(01:37):
knew so many people walking by. At one point there
was even a lady with a Democrat signed for one
of their candidates, and she like yelled at like how
was her baby doing because she knew she just had.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
A baby and it was a premium it's you know, in.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
The hospital, and so she was talking to them about that.
But she's so all of them down there, they're so
into their community and they know what's going on and
they know the people. Every county needs to do that
but anyway, that's just a side point.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Shout out to Pueblo.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, they had a booth there, so they called me
and I was like, all right, I need to go
support them with this booth.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
And typically we've always had very.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Good success in Pueblo. We've never had any problems. It's
actually been one of the nicer groups of people when
we go have our booths down there. That did not
happen this year. What happened was they put a booth
next to us. Now I don't even really remember the group.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
It was like the Apollo Project.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
They had like just a cardboard thing with their name
written in marker, So I don't think they're a very
big organization. They were not happy being next to us,
and so they started like writing more signs out and
hanging them up around their booth, like one right next
to us that said we're next to bigots, pointing to us.
They they had one that said f Trump. They had
(02:53):
one that said not all not all conservatives are stupid,
but all stupid people are conservatives. They have there's no
such thing as a gay Republican, which I took a
picture with and on my personal pages.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Now that's my profile picture. And now I.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Wasn't too upset with that, and they were talking very
disparagingly and loudly about us to everyone who was coming
up to them, and there was some kid there. Well,
I kind of felt bad for this kid because they're
probably only like twelve, and like, at twelve, they're being
taught to hate. They had they gave them this like whistle,
and whenever people would talk to us, they were standing
in front of us, both blowing this whistle the whole time,
(03:33):
just to be annoying. But the real part that I
felt was a problem. It's like we've had a few
little issues that at some festivals we've gone to, like
one up in Fort Collins, someone came up and just
started screaming and shouting at us and they had to
get the police to come take them away, and this
other lady started yelling and anyway, the organization that puts
(03:53):
on Fort Collins Pride was so apologetic. They came several
times like we're so sorry that happened. That's not who
we are, and like, you know, I guess I don't
blame you and you didn't do it.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
They even sent us a letter.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Afterwards fully apologizing that that happened and telling us we're
welcome there, They're sorry people treated us that way. We've
had that experience with most pride festivals where they'll even
come up and make sure, like is everyone being nice
to you?
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Things are okay and.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
All that, But anyway, at Pueblo, honestly, I really do
feel about them doing that kind of gave us sympathy points.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
That were people talking to us purely because they're like,
we're sorry that's happening to you.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
So we weren't really like mad that they were doing that,
but you know, we wanted to let the organizers know.
You're like, this is happening. I you don't I don't
know if you're okay with that. And they came up
to us, the guy who runs the festival and two ladies,
and the two ladies with him were just glaring.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
At us like you could tell that he hated us.
They didn't say a word.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
But they were just glaring at us the whole time,
and he basically said, they paid for that space, they
can do whatever they want.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
You know, It's fascinating to me because what you're describing, Valdimart,
I'm not really feeling a lot of joy from their
side of things, and this is in direct contrast. I'm
so glad you let off with that story, that account
of what you went through in Pueblo, because the misery
is coming from them. And yet listen to this projection,
this gas lighting from Joe Scarborough of MSNBC after Joe
(05:22):
Biden's speech last night in his show this morning.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
And you look at a convention like that, you can't
calculate it. You have in two Republican candidates, two guys who,
at least publicly in their public persona project misery. They're
not happy, they're always looking for retribution, They're they're looking
(05:46):
for people to blame. They're looking for a reason to
be upset.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
They're looking for a reason, you.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
Know, to resent. And you look at the Democratic National Convention.
I swear I never thought I would see this in
my lifetime as the Republican and I thought it's just
too easy to beat Democrats because they're afraid to have
a good time.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
They're afraid to be joyful, they're afraid to wave the flag.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
I'll tell you what Republicans.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Feared the most last night was the joy, but also
the chance of USA USA, USA.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Okay, my flash reaction to that, and then Valdemar, I
want to get your thoughts is what a phony, fraudulent
fake the Democrat Party. What we saw last night, the
barricades around it, the protests going on, the vitriol within
the mentions of Trump. They are miserable, They're not happy.
There's no joy in Mudville. Mighty Casey has struck out.
(06:43):
Mighty Joe struck out last night. And this USA No, No,
that is fake. They hate America. We are founded. They've
told us sixteen ninety project on white supremacy. They need
to tear it all down. Our founders were raised slaveholders.
I mean, I know what they said. This is not
some mystery Baltimore. What do you make of that representation there?
(07:07):
I'm just I think it's horrible.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
The propaganda machines we see in the media right now,
and it's so obvious to people who are even mildly
paying attention to what's going on. The sad part, though,
is it works, and that's why they do it. There
are people out there who know absolutely nothing, and they
will listen to Joe Scarborough and they will believe what
(07:33):
he said because they didn't watch it. Most people don't
watch either one of these conventions.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
They're not there. They're so long.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
You just listen to little clips and you listen to
what the media tells you and you buy it. And
so the media is just it's awful. I mean, it's
it's so awful the way they act. And you know,
we have politicians who will, you know, make things up
and whatever, and I kind of I mean, people kind
of expect that from a politician, but when it comes
to I feel the media, journal the people who call
(08:04):
themselves journalists. Now there's a difference between a journalist and
a political commentator. But if you are a journalist and
our education system, you do not expect those two systems
to be lying to you. And there are a lot
of people who still are in this mindset that those
two systems will tell them the truth and they believe
everything they say because what he said there was not true.
(08:28):
And even even like going back to this festival and others,
I always go talk to the Democrats when they have
a booth there. I always do, and I'm not confrontational.
I really just want to say hi, and that's it.
I do not want to talk politics because I know
we're not going to agree there's no point point, but
they always do. They instantly like start basically putting me
(08:50):
down and putting making themselves. I just came over here
to say hi's they always ask, Yeah, I want to
come argue, but they always start arguing with me. But
one nice note, I do want to mention about Pueblo Pride.
At one point, a girl came up and handed a note.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
She was probably about like twelve.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
She handed a piece of paper to Chrissy Ruckus, who's
our Colorado.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Only was Christie? She is the Colorado chairwoman.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Okay, yeah, she's the chair woman for the state, and
handed her a paper and I saw Chrissie's eyes like.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Starting to water a little bit, and I'm like, oh no,
what happened. I was like, what did it say?
Speaker 3 (09:33):
She just handed it to me, and the piece of
paper at the top it said, you know, I'm sorry
that people are that you have to experience this hate. Basically,
I'm sorry you're going through this. I apologize for that.
You guys are people too, you shouldn't have to endure that.
And I started getting a little teary.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I am just hearing about this.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
I'm like, because you had all that, and again we
weren't really thinking a whole lot about it, like whatever,
you know, this is what's happening. But when she did
that and then like she she handed it and walked away,
I was like, that makes it all worth it. That
makes coming out here all worth it because you see
people who will see what's happening. And that's what I'm saying.
If you just pay attention, even just a little bit,
(10:12):
you can see where the joy is, you can see
where the hate is. And I remember, before I even
was really involved in Republican politics, working with the Colorado
Springs Pride Center, I would go to Democrat fundraisers because
you know, back then, I was just told.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
These people are good, those people are bad. I didn't
question it.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
So I went to the Democrat fundraiser and I even
remember then thinking they're kind of mean, Like I'm why
is everyone here so angry? Like people speaking were just
so angry, and I'm like, I all right, like yeah,
I get that, And again I didn't know better. All right,
they're mean, they're bad people on the other side, but
(10:52):
do we have to be so hateful? Like why are
we so angry? Because even at that point I realized,
like I'm living my lifeline. I'm openly gay man in
Colorado Springs and everyone thought, oh, how can you do
that in this super conservative whatever town? And I was like,
nobody cares, no, no, So.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Why are you so angry? I don't get it. Yeah.
Valtimore Archiletta as our guest.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
He is a Republican candidate in the first Congressional district
against incumbent and long time Representative Diana de get He
is also the president of log Cabin Republicans. And I
always think back, you know, the creation of the show
Shits Creek by Daniel Levy and what he experiences there.
It really reminds me of my hometown. It's like a
(11:34):
Canadian version of my Michigan hometown. And he wanted a
show with no homophobia.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
There wasn't.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
And Baltimore, you have told me relentlessly and repeatedly that
in conservative circles or where you go Republican events, you're
welcomed with open arms one hundred percent of the time.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
I even told someone that Peblo came up and was like,
they basically said, I'm paraphrasing, but how could you be
a Republican when they and I'm like the only hate
I'm receiving is from here.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah. Look, I just point to the people next us.
That's the hate. I don't get it.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
And now I don't want to get into the whole
side story about our state party and the emails they'll
send out, even another one that came out like a
week ago, But that was I heard a lot of
a lot of conversations about that there and but if
you see that made it worse.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
It's important, though, to note, whether it's Barb Kirkmeyer or
other prominent Republicans, yours truly on the air here, Dan kaplis,
even if completely repudiated and rejected.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Yeah, I think as a whole the Republican community has
rejected that, and I have no problem with that. But
even the individuals who put the letters out, I talk
to them and I get along with them.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Finally, I don't think they hate me.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
They say stupid things and they don't know how to
They don't know how to communicate. They need to go
take a commun comunications class somewhere and learn how to.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Talk to people, don't.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
We had a booth at the state Party and it
was kind of funny, but we at the State Assembly,
we had a booth and one of the volunteers who
went with us was actually a Democrat. But I was like,
you're really brave to come with us too the Republican Assembly.
He said, yeah, he was hanging out with his friend
and his friends. One of our board members like, you
can come with us.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
That's fine.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
So we brought him with us and he hung out
there day all day and I asked him at the
end of the day, was anyone mean to you?
Speaker 1 (13:32):
And he said no, everyone was really nice.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
So and we had a big rainbow flag hanging behind
us at the State Assembly too. We don't normally hang
rainbow flags, but we did that. There was a Gadsden
rainbow flag. Yeah, a lot of normal rainbow flag, but I.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Like that combination. Don't tread on me.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Valtimore Arch a lot of our guests here, and I
want to get this in and I want to make
sure to front sell it. So I'm going to have
to do some maneuvering here with our clock. But what
you're about to Daniel Dale for CNN did a fact check,
but it was it was absolutely pathetic on Joe Biden
last night, who was full.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Of anger and vitriol.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
The mentions the dwelling on Donald Trump, the demonizing of
Donald Trump, the lying about Donald Trump, and all Daniel
Dale did to push back in his little fact check
segment on CNN last night, he corrected Biden on two things.
The percentage of imports versus exports during President Biden's term yawn,
who cares? And then also billionaire tax rates. He called out, said,
(14:35):
he's said that's been misleading before, but he left out
all of the hoaxes from last night. We know didn't
leave out the hoaxes from last night. Yours truly, here
are five good minutes, and I would encourage you right now,
if you're listening to this episode live, download the podcast,
download those five minutes and play them for your liberal friends,
(14:55):
because it rebukes and completely dispels all the hoaxes, the myths,
the lies from Joe Biden last night. And he continues
to repeat these lies, and yet nobody pushes back on
him in the moment that it happens.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
It's about time that we did. So here is that
right now.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
When the President was asked what he thought had happened,
Donald Trump said, my quote, there are very fine people
on both sides.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
My god, that's what I said. That is what he
said and what he meant. That's what I realized.
Speaker 6 (15:35):
Had listened to the admonition of my dead son, I
could not stay on the sidelines. So I ran because
I had no intention of running again.
Speaker 7 (15:46):
And you had people and I'm not talking about the
Neo Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be
condemned totally, but you had many people in that group
other than Neo Nazis and white nationalists, okay, and the
press has treated them absolutely unfairly.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Now in the.
Speaker 7 (16:03):
Other group, also you had some fine people, but you
also had troublemakers. And you see them come with with
the black outfits and with the helmets and with the
baseball bats.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
You you had a lot of bed You had a
lot of bad people in.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
The other group.
Speaker 6 (16:19):
We know from his own chief of staff and forre
Star General John Kelly, that Trump went in Europe, would
not go to the grave sites in one of France,
the brave service members who gave their lives of this country.
He called them suckers and losers.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Who in the hell does he think he is? Who
does he think he is?
Speaker 8 (16:43):
According to what that article said, the President made disparaging
remarks about our soldiers, the people buried at the on
Marn Cemetery in connection with the decision for him not
to go to the ceremony that was planned that afternoon.
And and that's that was false.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
I don't know who told the author that, but that
was false.
Speaker 8 (17:03):
I was simply responding to what I thought was the
main point of the Atlantic article that at the critical
point Saturday morning, when the decision was made not to
go to Enmar that he made the disparaging remarks and
he did not.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
Donald Trump says he will refused to accept the election
result if he loses again.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Think about that, he means it.
Speaker 6 (17:28):
Think about that he's probably seen a bloodbath.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
If he loses.
Speaker 7 (17:34):
In his words, Mexico has taken, over a period of
thirty years, thirty four percent of the automobile manufacturing business
in our country.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Think of it went to Mexico.
Speaker 7 (17:45):
China now is building a couple of massive plans where
they're going to build the cars in Mexico.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
And think they think that they're going.
Speaker 7 (17:53):
To sell those cars into the United States with no
tax at the border. Let me tell you something to China.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
If you listen, Presidency, and you.
Speaker 7 (18:01):
And I are friends, but he understands the ideal. Those
big monster car manufacturing plants that you're building in Mexico
right now, and you think you're gonna get that, you're
going to not hire Americans and you're going to.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Sell the cars.
Speaker 7 (18:16):
Now, we're gonna put a one tower for in every
single car that comes across the line, and you're not
going to be able to sell those cars if I
get elected. Now, if I don't get elected, it's going
to be a blood bath for the whole that's going
to be the least of it. It's going to be
a blood bath for the country. That'll be the least
of it. But they're not going to sell those cars.
(18:36):
They're building massive factories.
Speaker 6 (18:37):
And now he'll be a dictator on day one. In
his own words, by the way, this sucker meets it now,
I'm not joking, think about it. Anybody else said that
in the patches that he was crazy. He is crazy,
but you're thinking was an exaggeration, but he means it.
We can't let that.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Happen under no circumstances. You are promising America tonight. You
would never.
Speaker 8 (19:04):
Abuse power as retribution against anybody.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Except for day one.
Speaker 7 (19:09):
Except what he's going to pray except for day one,
meaning I want to close.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
The border and I want to drill.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
That's not all.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
That's real, that's not that's not retribution.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
I'm going to be. I'm going to be.
Speaker 7 (19:22):
You know, he keeps I love this guy. He says,
you're not going to be a dictator, are you?
Speaker 1 (19:26):
I said, no, no, No.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
Other than day one, we're closing the border and we're drilling, drilling, drilling.
After that, I'm not a day no. I think Bedlam
is Joe Biden. I think that he's using this. This
is just a political ploy.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Trump is a dictator. He wants to be a dictator.
It is interesting.
Speaker 7 (19:44):
I did a show Sean Hannity.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Did you ever hear of him? He's a very nice.
Speaker 7 (19:47):
Man, and he said, essentially, you're not going to be
a dictator?
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Are you? Tell me?
Speaker 7 (19:52):
I think he was trying to give me a nicer
question that maybe you guys would. He meanted very well,
I said, I'm going to be a dictator for one day.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
We're gonna do two things. The border.
Speaker 7 (20:03):
We're gonna make it so tight you can't get in
unless you come in legally.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
And the other is energy.
Speaker 7 (20:09):
We're gonna drill baby drill. After that, I'm not gonna
be a dictator.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
After that, I'm not gonna be a.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Dickcader, very clear, and five minutes there to totally tear
down the mythology that Joe Biden continues to try to
perpetrate on the American people. He's full of anger and
vitriol and lies.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Last night and he went out with a whimper.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
It was his own funeral, and the Democrats buried him,
literally they buried him. On the schedule, he didn't take
the stage until eleven twenty four pm in the Eastern
time zone. If you think that was an accident, watch
what time Barack Obama takes the stage tonight. It won't
be eleven twenty four pm in the Eastern time zone.
(20:51):
Back with more Valdemart Archill let um my guest. He
is the Republican candidate for the first congressional district, going
head to head with Diana to get He's also the
president of log Cabin Republicans. Your texts five seven, seven,
three nights start O Bryan here on six thirty K help.
(21:23):
All right, let's go to Chicago with this live update
from the United Center.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Another capacity crown better than twenty one thousand here on
the West side of Chicago to take in another installment
of this rivalry between the New York Knicks and the
Chicago Bulls. Hello, everybuddy. Along with mac Ucas, I'm Marv Albert.
We welcome you to the kind of center and man
in the story career of Michael Jordan. He seems to
(21:51):
sink his best gas against the Knicks, especially here at
the United Center.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Mark.
Speaker 9 (21:57):
Whether the spotlight is here in Chicago or in York,
you know that Michael is going to rise to the occasion.
Look at these point totals in the forties, in the
fifties in matchups against the next and there's no reason
with the energy that we should expect anything different today
for the next. They have played a great brand of
basketball of late, winning eight of their last nine with
(22:20):
contributions up and down the roster. Yet it's still all
seems to evolve around Patrick Hilling.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Mark.
Speaker 9 (22:28):
The strength of the next supporting cast extentuates what Patrick
killing can do, and that makes.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Them even more effective. On the last nine games, he.
Speaker 9 (22:36):
Has been simply sensational, averaging just short of a double
double twenty eight points and nine rebounds.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
The question is will the bulls.
Speaker 9 (22:44):
Be able to shut down the other role players putting
all the pressure on the big man as Lee get
running for the next and the bulls here are we
at the wrong event?
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Though? Man Brian.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Wow, Rob Dawson with the update going back in time
about thirty years too, and it felt just like a
broadcast from nineteen ninety four. Marve Albert and Matty gukas
NBA on NBC. Rob the Michael Jordan's statue. Everything going
on out there were last we left it with you
yesterday there was a breaching of the barricades by the protesters.
(23:25):
You apparently made it out safe and sound. But what's
the update from there on site?
Speaker 9 (23:30):
Yeah, so definitely the protesters are have been quiet today
because we haven't heard much going on, at least in
terms of social media what's been happening. However, there was
some discussion in the after the event last night from
some of the iheared people that were with that they
(23:53):
how to worry that there could be a protest late
tonight and we have no idea the timing details, whether
it's really happening or not. Of Course, as we talked
about before, sometimes when they say stuff at the podium
in a protest situation. They're not going to get it,
so they're not going to follow through, is what I
should say. So we will wait and see, but hopefully
(24:16):
we have a cleaner next three days.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Final question, Rob before we let you go, and Mandy
Conne will be joining us on site there live from
Chicago when we come back for hour number two. But
just the general vibe that you've gotten, whether it's outside
or inside the United Center, the festivities going on. We've
been told that this is going to be, you know,
convention of joy and happiness, et cetera. What has been
(24:38):
your experience talking first handle a lot of these protesters
and for the people on site.
Speaker 9 (24:45):
Well, yeah, protesters are. One of the phrases they use
was there's just like nineteen sixty eight, there's no reason
to celebrate. That was their take on this. Oh in
terms of yeah, in terms of inside, you know, there's
there is a lot of happiness. I just think something
is weird and off. And the only reason I say
(25:07):
that is I know there's also theories out there. I
don't know if you've done these already yet. I've heard
a theory that, oh, they did biden a dirty one
by moving in late in the session, out of prime time.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
In the Eastern time zone.
Speaker 9 (25:21):
I was listening to the speeches thinking that they hadn't
updated them. It was like this missmash of Well, I
got to speak longer now because I'm trying to accomplish
two objectives. I'm trying to congratulate Joe Biden and you know,
yay for the Democrats, and now we're moving on to
Kamala Harris. There's too many things going on. That's why
I felt like the speeches went long. Plus, by the way,
(25:42):
I should point out the security breach caused delegates to
get here late Colorado. A public couple, a couple of
them told me two two and a half hours sitting
on the bus because once the fencing was breached, then
the Secret Service had to go around and look at
all that fences.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Rob Dawson KOA News Live in Chicago at the United Center,
and unfortunately we're not going to get Nicks Bulls tonight.
I think I would prefer to watch that, but it's
the night of Barack Obama. I think Michelle Obama scheduled
to speak as well. More details on that coming with
Mandy Connell. Rob great stuff. Glad you're okay. We'll talk
to you again soon.
Speaker 9 (26:19):
Coming up for the Obama's next on the Emmy and Me.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Are Old Rob Dawson.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
We'll take this time out come back more with Valdimar Archiletta.
He's my guest for the entire show. I think he's
going to stick around. He said he's getting hungry watching
Food Network over there. Kelly had the shows up here,
so we'll try to accommodate.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Him in any way that we can.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
But when we come back, it's been a while, But
there was a moment of Biden last night at the DNC,
and you'll hear why he was put off until eleven
twenty four pm Eastern time.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Ryan Schuling with you. You're listening to six thirty k.
Speaker 10 (26:55):
How and now you're a moment of Biden with the
forty sixth President of the United States.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Joseph R. Biden.
Speaker 10 (27:09):
This is a moment.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Who went all the dreaming, steaming and screaming.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
Becoming women's are not without electrical without not allowed, not
without electoral, electoral or political power.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
No kidding, h boy, I guess I do kind of
understand why he was pushed to the late night hour,
but This was so transparent, I think to anybody that
was watching in Valdimore, Archiletta with me Ryan schuling here
for the balance of this program. Coming up in hour
number two, Mandy Connell will join us live from Chicago
(27:58):
and the DNC and at the bottom of the second
hour brand a divine from the New York Post, So
stay tuned for that. But Biden, there was that malfunction
that you just heard with the moment of Biden there,
but it was just one wall of sound, Biden anger,
him just railing against Trump and Valdemart. To me, if
they were trying to make this convention about joy, about
(28:21):
the contrast between themselves, what they perceived to be this
negativity or this misery of Donald Trump and jd Vance
Day one and Night one was a failure of epic proportions.
All they did was dwell on and focus on Donald
Trump rather than their old own accomplishments. Wasn't that, in
and of itself a tell?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Yeah? It really was. I feel like his speech.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
I didn't watch the whole thing, so I will be
honest about I just saw some clips here and there.
But for you, it seemed like this was like part
two of his Palpatine speech. Just what's that one with
the you know, the red val I like, that's just
unreal to me that a president went out and said that,
and in that speech, just his hatred of Republicans. And
(29:07):
it wasn't even like just Donald Trump or the Republicans
in Washington, but it was it really felt because I
hate all you Republicans out there. It's like, am I
supposed to like watch this? It's like my president because
he's still my president whether I like it or not.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
And I'm a constituent whether he likes it or not.
My president hates me.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
And that's just the fil that you get from Joe
Biden is just hatred and anger.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
And that's what.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
It seemed like even in that clip there, he's like
so angry, like why you're talking about you know? And
I don't even honestly know what he meant to say there.
I don't know what the boy but women having power?
You know, he should be happy. That should be a
happy phrase, but instead he says it in like anger,
like don't I don't.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Get I don't think at his advanced age and then
not just the age, but his state of decline and
it's significant and I've been harp on this for about
four years now, but you've seen it really become more
acute and severe over these last months, even a full
calendar year. I don't think he's capable of Voldemar, of
differentiating a level of emotion which he equates with anger,
(30:14):
this passion, and having it be nuanced to what you're saying,
like there's something to be kind of joyful to borrow
their term about. I didn't see him smile much in
this speech at all. I didn't see him offer any
messages of hope or accomplishment or achievement, or the handing
of the torch ta Kamala Harris of better days to come.
He did not inspire any confidence or good feelings. I
(30:36):
mean the way a soaring rhetorical speech could happen. And
I'll give examples from the left, either a Bill Clinton,
a master of the craft, or a Barack Obama who
could give that soaring rhetoric.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
There was none of that last night, not one outs No,
I would agree. Probably maybe he doesn't even really know
fully what he's saying.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
He's just reading these words and they're coming out with passion,
and his passion comes out as anger. Know I And
again I didn't watch the whole thing, but I saw
somewhere posted that they mentioned Donald Trump like one hundred
and forty something times, and they talked about the border
maybe eight times, and they talked about inflation three times.
(31:16):
But yeah, from what I've seen in clips, it was
always Donald Trump, this Donald Trump, that they're hyper focused
on him, and it's like that is that going to
be their method to win? And it it might have
worked last time with with Biden? Are they going to
do that again? I also don't know if it's going
to be as effective this round, because I think people
are becoming desensitized to this guy you've constantly vilified for eight.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Years now or however long.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
But me, is that the plan rather than talking about
what they want to do, which maybe after last Friday
when Kamala released her her controls, her socialist plan for
the country, maybe we shouldn't talk about that either. Let's
go back to just talking about Donald thing.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
What you're just saying, Valdemar, it's so important is that
they're dwelling on this emotional Pavlovian response of Trump arrangement syndrome.
But that's only going to work for their base, their
base voters they're gonna turn out to which number.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
I don't know how much.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
This is a base driven election, but Trump's base is
super energized. We know that from our side, but from
their side. You can only pounce on this again, to
borrow one of their favorite terms so often for so long,
and strike the same note.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
And I think people are used to it.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Like you said, it's kind of this crying wolf syndrome,
and you can only make this emotional appeal. You gotta
hate Trump and he's gonna end democracy. And that's all
Joe Biden had last night. It was boring, it was regurgitated.
It was the greatest Hits album. But there's no left
brain appeal. And what I mean by that is who
are they talking to last night? Who is the audience
for that convention last night? The speech is AOC getting
(32:55):
her licks in on Donald Trump, which I got a
point to be made there in a moment, But Valomart,
they weren't speaking to the undecided, unaffiliated, independent voter out
there that might be on the fence. If a person
like that was watching last night, what was their takeaway?
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Yeah, they're just preaching to the choir exactly I have
found going out and I'm in Denver, you know, so
I'm campaigning around Denver and we I did an event
with John Fabricatory a few weeks ago at the Taste
of Ethiopia, and we were talking to people there.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Nobody's talking about, oh, I hate Trump.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
The only ones who were were like the hardcore Democrats, right,
And we noticed there that the only people who were
saying things like that were.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Like the Americans.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Everyone from Africa was all about like they were so
happy we were there and happy we were Republicans. And
several of them even said, like, I can't do this
Democrat thing anymore because they don't represent anything I care about.
There they're far more conservative than I am. And then
(33:59):
like half the Republicans are because they're all about faith, family,
and freedom.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
They came here, they want.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
To start a life, they want to be successful in business,
they love their religion, and so.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
That's what people care about.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
And even in talking to just regular Americans, even outside
of that, I was with another candidate here who's running in.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
House District five.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
We set up a table right in a park in
the middle of Denver because in that section we were
going to go door knocking, but it's all apartments. Well,
we can't really door knock in apartments. So let's just
go put a table in this park and we'll go
sit there as two Republicans in the middle of Denver
and talk to people. Everything people talk to us about
was like the economy and crime and the border. Nobody
(34:43):
was talking about the things that the Democrats were talking
about last night. So even right in the heart of Denver,
what people care about, they're not talking about.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
So I agree with you. I don't know who they're
trying to message this too, maybe to Railly the base.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
And this was a a giveaway, a tell by Biden
that one of the reasons he dropped out why he
was convinced to drop out.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
We know who did it.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Nancy Pelosi was behind it, and her scheming mind was
there last night was to health the down ballot race.
Is that this wasn't even about Kamala or winning the
presidential race. I found that to be fascinating. And if
that's the case, then yeah, they want to just rally
the base.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
It's not even.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
About winning the independence in the middle, which I don't
think if they were trying to accomplish that last night
I think they went about it entirely the wrong way, again,
unsolicited advice from their adversary. But that's as objective as
I can put it. And we're going to go directly
to Chicago and the United Center. When we come back.
Mandy Connell from KOA will join us live on site.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Valdemar sticks around.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
He's with me Bryan schuling your text at five seven,
seven three nine hour two straight ahead here on six
