Speaker 1 (00:01):
Okay, I hate to do this to you as we
close out the show here with the legendary Peter Boyles
in studio with yours truly, Ryan Shilling live. But I
wish you could have heard the segment we just did
during the break. We'll try to encapsulate it only got
about three minutes here. But first of all, Peter, it's
an honor to have you in the studio. Things.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
It's an honor to be back here.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Yeah, well, welcome back. And you and I were talking
about the fact that you're going to be going to
see the movie the order. Now, I've talked about this
with Christiantoto Hollywood intoto dot Com. There's a local tie in.
It's a major plot point. Mark Marin, a well known
comedian and actor, portrays your former colleague Alan Berg in
this film. But you're telling me during the break it's
not only a dramatization, it's a complete fictionalized version of events.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Well, I have to be kind here. I'm seeing the
film tomorrow night for the first time with Kevin Flynn,
and the book that was written by Kevin and the
late Gary Gerhardt was one hundred percent accurate. When I
testified in Seattle Kevin was there. Kevin's probably the finest
city councilman and a dear friend and he and Gary.

(01:02):
But they sold the book and it's like you're a
car dealer.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
You sell me the car. I can do what I
want to do with it. Now it's your car, it's
my car.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
And so they have invented this clash between I'm told
a retiring FBI agent and Bob Matthews, who was the.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Founder of the Order.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
And none of those things were are accurate. Was there
an old FBI agent up there? Maybe possibly, I don't know,
but the way they caught them was nothing to do
with what I'm told I'm going to see tomorrow night.
But this is due respect to Kevin Flynn, who did
excellent work and in fact we finally got Alan into

(01:48):
the Press Club Hall of Fame nice and without Kevin
it wouldn't have happened.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Alan Berg was murdered outside his own home a little
over forty years ago, June of nineteen eighty four. Peter,
just take us back to that day and when you
found out that Alan had been murdered.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I actually was doing mornings on seven to ten.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
kN Us and Barry Fay, the late Bary fay rock entrepreneur,
called me and he said wake up, and I said,
you know, I'm kind of froggy. And he said Alan's
dead and turn on channel four. That's what I remember
him saying that, and turning on channel four and seeing

(02:28):
that horrible picture that exists now with Alan laying next
to the Volkswagen, and then suddenly my door just it
was television people when reporters and the next couple of
days are really it was because no one knew. I mean,
it was in spite of what people claim to know today.

(02:50):
There's an awful lot of people that claim at an
awful lot of things that when you live something and
you know it isn't true.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
And that wasn't the case. It was they legitimately did
not know.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
We had a moment where on one of the Denver
homicide cops, when asked who took his life, reached under
the desk, pulled out the Denver phone book, threw it
on the connor and said pick a name, because he
was he had to know who he was and know

(03:23):
his work. And so that was really the true beginning
of it. And then there was a trow here, and
there was a trown Ford Smiths and in fact, as
I completed a piece for the Denver Post, no one
ever stood trial for the murder of Allenburg.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Incredible.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
The Great Peter Boyles will be joining n Kaplis for
the full two hours. The movie is called The Order
and it's coming out. You're telling me you're going to
see it tomorrow. It's right. The Silent Brotherhood was the
nonfiction book nineteen eighty nine written by Kevin Flynn and
Gary Gerhardt. And he'll be seeing Peter Boyles the film
tomorrow night, ring Jude Law. Stay tuned more Peter and

(04:02):
Dan coming up next. This has been Ryan Shuling live
